Usnea lichens are known for their beneficial pharmacological effects with potential applications in oral medicine. This study aims to investigate the extract of Usnea barbata (L.) Weber ex F.H. Wigg from the Călimani Mountains in canola oil as an oral pharmaceutical formulation. In the present work, bioadhesive oral films (F-UBO) with U. barbata extract in canola oil (UBO) were formulated, characterized, and evaluated, evidencing their pharmacological potential. The UBO-loaded films were analyzed using standard methods regarding physicochemical and pharmacotechnical characteristics to verify their suitability for topical administration on the oral mucosa. F-UBO suitability confirmation allowed for the investigation of antimicrobial and anticancer potential. The antimicrobial properties against Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923, Pseudomonas aeruginosa ATCC 27353, Candida albicans ATCC 10231, and Candida parapsilosis ATCC 22019 were evaluated by a resazurin-based 96-well plate microdilution method. The brine shrimp lethality assay (BSL assay) was the animal model cytotoxicity prescreen, followed by flow cytometry analyses on normal blood cells and oral epithelial squamous cell carcinoma CLS-354 cell line, determining cellular apoptosis, caspase-3/7 activity, nuclear condensation and lysosomal activity, oxidative stress, cell cycle, and cell proliferation. The results indicate that a UBO-loaded bioadhesive film’s weight is 63 ± 1.79 mg. It contains 315 µg UBO, has a pH = 6.97 ± 0.01, a disintegration time of 124 ± 3.67 s, and a bioadhesion time of 86 ± 4.12 min, being suitable for topical administration on the oral mucosa. F-UBO showed moderate dose-dependent inhibitory effects on the growth of both bacterial and fungal strains. Moreover, in CLS-354 tumor cells, F-UBO increased oxidative stress, diminished DNA synthesis, and induced cell cycle arrest in G0/G1. All these properties led to considering UBO-loaded bioadhesive oral films as a suitable phytotherapeutic formulation with potential application in oral infections and neoplasia.

Medical research explores plant extracts’ properties to obtain potential anticancer drugs. The present study aims to formulate, develop, and characterize the bioadhesive oral films containing Usnea barbata (L.) dry ethanol extract (F-UBE-HPC) and to investigate their anticancer potential for possible use in oral cancer therapy. The physicochemical and morphological properties of the bioadhesive oral films were analyzed through Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM), thermogravimetric analysis (TG), and X-ray diffraction techniques. Pharmacotechnical evaluation (consisting of the measurement of the specific parameters: weight uniformity, thickness, folding endurance, tensile strength, elongation, moisture content, pH, disintegration time, swelling rate, and ex vivo mucoadhesion time) completed the bioadhesive films’ analysis. Next, oxidative stress, caspase 3/7 activity, nuclear condensation, lysosomal activity, and DNA synthesis induced by F-UBE-HPC in normal blood cell cultures and oral epithelial squamous cell carcinoma (CLS-354) cell line and its influence on both cell types’ division and proliferation was evaluated. The results reveal that each F-UBE-HPC contains 0.330 mg dry extract with a usnic acid (UA) content of 0.036 mg. The bioadhesive oral films are thin (0.093 ± 0.002 mm), reveal a neutral pH (7.10 ± 0.02), a disintegration time of 118 ± 3.16 s, an ex vivo bioadhesion time of 98 ± 3.58 min, and show a swelling ratio after 6 h of 289 ± 5.82%, being suitable for application on the oral mucosa. They displayed in vitro anticancer activity on CLS-354 tumor cells. By considerably increasing cellular oxidative stress and caspase 3/7 activity, they triggered apoptotic processes in oral cancer cells, inducing high levels of nuclear condensation and lysosomal activity, cell cycle arrest in G0/G1, and blocking DNA synthesis. All these properties lead to considering the UBE-loaded bioadhesive oral films suitable for potential application as a complementary therapy in oral cancer.

Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) is a commonly used technique for back side metallization (BSM) and under bump metallization (UBM). Cutting edge BSM and UBM stacks require good adhesion, low contact resistance and low intrinsic stress. Nickel Vanadium (NiV) is commonly used as a barrier layer in these BSM and UBM stacks. As a non-magnetic material, NiV is more suitable for magnetron sputtering than pure Ni, which is magnetic. NiV tends to be sputtered in a high stress state and high stress in thin films has often degraded adhesion, resulting in long term reliability issues, and bowing of thinned wafers. NiV films deposited by PVD using argon (Ar) process gas are usually under high tensile stress. In these cases, film stress can be controlled by various means during the PVD process: deposition temperature, deposition pressure, and RF bias applied to the wafers during deposition. This paper explores how changing the process gas from pure Ar to a mixture of argon and nitrogen gasses can control film stress. Stress neutral NiV(N) films were achieved by adding up to 50% of nitrogen to the Ar/N2 mixture. Stress, deposition rate, and sheet resistance were studied as a function of nitrogen percentage in the process gas mixture. Electrical and barrier properties of the resulting NiV(N) films were found to be comparable to or better than NiV films deposited with a pure Ar gas.

Oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) is the most frequent oral malignancy, with a high death rate and an inadequate response to conventional chemotherapeutic drugs. Medical research explores plant extracts’ properties to obtain potential nanomaterial-based anticancer drugs. The present study aims to formulate, develop, and characterize mucoadhesive oral films loaded with Usnea barbata (L.) dry acetone extract (F-UBA) and to investigate their anticancer potential for possible use in oral cancer therapy. U. barbata dry acetone extract (UBA) was solubilized in ethanol: isopropanol mixture and loaded in a formulation containing hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC) K100 and polyethylene glycol 400 (PEG 400). The UBA influence on the F-UBA pharmaceutical characteristics was evidenced compared with the references, i.e., mucoadhesive oral films containing suitable excipients but no active ingredient loaded. Both films were subjected to a complex analysis using standard methods to evaluate their suitability for topical administration on the oral mucosa. Physico-chemical and structural characterization was achieved by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and atomic force microscopy (AFM). Pharmacotechnical evaluation (consisting of the measurement of specific parameters: weight uniformity, thickness, folding endurance, tensile strength, elongation, moisture content, pH, disintegration time, swelling rate, and ex vivo mucoadhesion time) proved that F-UBAs are suitable for oral mucosal administration. The brine shrimp lethality (BSL) assay was the F-UBA cytotoxicity prescreen. Cellular oxidative stress, caspase 3/7 activity, nuclear condensation, lysosomal activity, and DNA synthesis induced by F-UBA in blood cell cultures and oral epithelial squamous cell carcinoma (CLS-354) cell line were investigated through complex flow cytometry analyses. Moreover, F-UBA influence on both cell type division and proliferation was determined. Finally, using the resazurin-based 96-well plate microdilution method, the F-UBA antimicrobial potential was explored against Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923, Pseudomonas aeruginosa ATCC 27353, Candida albicans ATCC 10231, and Candida parapsilosis ATCC 22019. The results revealed that each UBA-loaded film contains 175 µg dry extract with a usnic acid (UA) content of 42.32 µg. F-UBAs are very thin (0.060 ± 0.002 mm), report a neutral pH (7.01 ± 0.01), a disintegration time of 146 ± 5.09 s, and an ex vivo mucoadhesion time of 85 ± 2.33 min, and they show a swelling ratio after 6 h of 211 ± 4.31%. They are suitable for topical administration on the oral mucosa. Like UA, they act on CLS-354 tumor cells, considerably increasing cellular oxidative stress, nuclear condensation, and autophagy and inducing cell cycle arrest in G0/G1. The F-UBAs inhibited the bacterial and fungal strains in a dose-dependent manner; they showed similar effects on both Candida sp. and higher inhibitory activity against P. aeruginosa than S. aureus. All these properties lead to considering the UBA-loaded mucoadhesive oral films suitable for potential application as a complementary therapy in OSCC.

The influence of temperature (20–80°C) on the electrochemical behaviour of passive films anodically formed on UB6 stainless steel in phosphoric acid solution (5.5 M H3PO4) has been examined by using potentiodynamic curves, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, and Mott-Schottky analysis. UB6 stainless steel in contaminated phosphoric acid is characterised by high interfacial impedance, thereby, illustrating its high corrosion resistance. The obtained results show that the films behave as n-type and p-type semiconductors in the potential range above and below the flat band potential, respectively. This behaviour is assumed to be the consequence of the semiconducting properties of the iron oxide and chromium oxide regions which compose the passive film.

NbxSiyNz thin film nanostructure was grown using the unbalanced magnetron sputtering (UBM) technique with varying Si content. Corrosion resistance was evaluated by potentiodynamic polarisation technique in a 3% NaCl solution. Microstructure was analysed by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and laser scanning microscopy. Chemical composition was ascertained by X-ray fluorescence (XRF) technique. The results showed that deposition rates increased with higher Si content. A microstructural change was observed for greater than 5% Si content through the transition from a crystalline to an amorphous structure in the thin films. Corrosion test results demonstrated that the thin films having the highest silicon content had better corrosion resistance.

25 μm thick Upilex films (registered UBE trademark) were carbonized, then graphitized at various temperatures up to 2800 °C and studied by optical and electron microscopies. While the graphitizing behavior of Kapton films is similar to that of anthracites, Upilex graphitization is erratic from one film to the other. The thickness of the better graphitizing Upilex films decreases as the anisotropy increases. Their graphitization occurs at a relatively low temperature (2100 °C), because the oxygen is entirely labile (no cross-linking). Non-graphitizing films are obtained when oxygen remains stable as the heat-treatment temperature (HTT) increases. They stay optically isotropic and microporous without flattening, and even show a limited swelling instead of a thinning. This behavior is attributed to the random mobility of the imide part of the molecule when carbonization starts.

Electroconductive and reflective metallized polyimide films have been prepared by heterogeneous chemical modification of polyimide surface. By carrying out the chemical reactions in situ in the modified layers of polyimide surface, a metal phase strongly impregnated into the polyimide surface is obtained. The steps of chemical modification have been studied on the model compound – poly(amic acid) on the basis of isophthaloylchloride and methylenedianthranilic acid which forms insoluble sodium or potassium poly(amicacid) salts (polyamate). Metallization of Kapton HN &amp; JP (from DuPont) and Upilex S (from Ube) films<br />has been carried out and the films have been characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray fine diffraction (XRFD), measurements of reflectivity in the visible range and surface resistivity at elevated temperatures. It is shown that reflectivity coefficients of silvered films are 90-92% and surface resistivity is about 0.5 Ω/sq.

The electromigration behavior of the high-lead and eutectic SnPb composite solder bumps was investigated at 150 °C with 5 × 103 A/cm2 current stressing for up to 1711 h. The diameter of the bumps was about 125 μm. The underbump metallization (UBM) on the chip side was sputtered Al/Ni(V)/Cu thin films, and the Cu pad on the board side was plated with electroless Ni/Au. It was observed that damages occurred in the joints in a downward electron flow (from chip side to the substrate side), while those joints having the opposite current polarity showed only minor changes. In the case of downward electron flow, electromigration damages were observed in the UBM and solder bumps. The vanadium in Ni(V) layer was broken under current stressing of 1711 h while it was still intact after current stressing of 1000 h. The electron probe microanalyzer (EPMA) elemental mapping clearly shows that the Al atoms in the trace migrated through the UBM into the solder bump during current stressing. Voids were found in the solder bump near the UBM/solder interface. The Sn-rich phases of the solder bumps showed gradual streaking and reorientation upon current stressing. This resulted in the formation of uniaxial Sn-rich phases in the middle of the solder bump, while the columnar and fibrous Sn-rich phases were formed in the surrounding regions. The formation mechanism of electromigration-induced damage to the UBM structure and solder bump were discussed.

Abstract:The use of starch as the main ingredient in making plastic has great potential especially in Indonesia with various starch-producing plants. To obtain bioplastics, starch is added with glycerol plasticizer, so that the plastic is more flexible and elastic. In this study, cassava starch (Manihot esculenta cranz) was used and the volume of glycerol as plasticizer was varied by 2 ml, 3 ml and 4 ml. The aim to be achieved in this study was to determine the volume variation of glycerol against the tensile strength of environmentally friendly biodegradable plastic films made from cassava starch. In addition, to find out what is the density of environmentally friendly biodegradable plastic films made from cassava starch. Cassava starch was obtained by isolating cassava starch 15 grams and then mixed with 2 ml glycerol (varied 3 ml and 4 ml) and 50 ml of aquades then heated while stirring with magnetic stirrer to form a thick dough. The mixture is then printed on a stainless steel mold. The results obtained in the form of thin sheets of plastic film that has been tested for tensile strength and density. After that followed by morphological analysis. The results of the biodegradable plastic characterization for tensile strength of plastic films with volume variations of glycerol 2 ml, 3 ml and 4 ml respectively as follows: 0.001 Mpa 0.069 Mpa 0.005 Mpa. For the density of biodegradable plastics for variations in volume of glycerol 2 ml, 3 ml and 4 ml respectively 0.0009 g / mm3, 0.0015 g / mm3 and 0.0014 g / mm3.Abstrak:Penggunaan pati sebagai bahan utama pembuatan plastik memiliki potensi yang besar terlebih lagi di Indonesia terdapat berbagai tanaman penghasil pati. Untuk memperoleh bioplastik, pati ditambahkan dengan plastisizer gliserol, sehingga diperoleh plastik yang lebih fleksible dan elastis. Pada penelitian ini digunakan pati ubi kayu (Manihot esculenta cranz) dan volume gliserol sebagai plastisizer divariasikan sebanyak 2 ml, 3 ml dan 4 ml. Tujuan yang ingin dicapai dalam penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui variasi volume Gliserol terhadap kuat tarik film plastik biodegradable ramah lingkungan berbahan dasar pati ubi kayu. Selain itu untuk mengetahui berapa densitas film plastik biodegradable ramah lingkungan berbahan dasar pati ubi kayu. Pati ubi kayu diperoleh dengan mengisolasi pati ubi kayu 15 gram kemudian dicampurkan dengan 2 ml gliserol (divariasikan 3 ml dan 4 ml) dan 50 ml aquades kemudian dipanaskan sambil diaduk dengan magnetik stirerr hingga berbentuk adonan yang kental. Campuran tersebut kemudian dicetak pada cetakan stainless steel. Hasil yang diperoleh berupa lembaran tipis film plastik yang telah diuji kekuatan tarik dan densitasnya. Setelah itu dilanjutkan dengan analisa morfologi. Hasil karakterisasi plastik biodegradable untuk kuat tarik film plastik dengan variasi volume gliserol 2 ml, 3 ml dan 4 ml berturut-turut sebagai berikut: 0.001 Mpa 0,069 Mpa 0.005 Mpa. Untuk densitas dari plastik biodegradable untuk variasi volume gliserol 2 ml, 3 ml dan 4 ml berturut-turut adalah 0.0009 g/mm3, 0.0015 g/mm3 dan 0.0014 g/mm3.

This work was aimed at studying the influence of ion bombardment on the preferred orientation (OP) of transition metal nitrides (TMN) produced by the reactive sputtering technique with a variable unbalanced magnetron through permanent magnets. Titanium nitride (TiN) coatings were thus studied by varying two parameters: ion-atom ratio on the substrate (Ji/Ja) and nitrogen flux. Deposition conditions were as follows: 7 mTorr working pressure, ~ 380ºC substrate temperature, 2 and 8.5 sccm nitrogen flux and 245-265 discharge power. The results showed that preferred orientation (111) and the crystalline behaviour of the produced coatings depended more on nitrogen flux than on ion bombardment. Similarly, micro-hardness measured on films deposited on steel AISI-M2 substrates increased from 1600 to 2000 HV0.025 when nitrogen flux was increased.

The preparation of platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) requires blood centrifugation to separate the yellow plasma from the red erythrocyte fraction. PRF membranes prepared from coagulated yellow plasma are then transferred to the defect sites to support tissue regeneration. During natural wound healing, however, it is the unfractionated blood clot (UBC) that fills the defect site. It is unclear whether centrifugation is necessary to prepare a blood-derived matrix that supports tissue regeneration. The aim of the present study was to compare lysates prepared from PRF and UBC based on bioassays and degradation of the respective membranes. We report here that lysates prepared from PRF and UBC membranes similarly activate TGF-β signaling, as indicated by the expression of interleukin 11 (IL-11), NADPH oxidase 4 (NOX-4) and proteoglycan 4 (PRG4) in gingival fibroblasts. Consistently, PRF and UBC lysates stimulated the phosphorylation and nuclear translocation of Smad3 in gingival fibroblasts. We further observed that PRF and UBC lysates have comparable anti-inflammatory activity, as shown by the reduction in lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced IL-6, inducible nitric oxidase synthase (iNOS) and cyclooxygenase 2 (COX-2) expression in RAW264.7 cells. Moreover, inflammation induced by Poly (1:C) HMW and FSL-1, which are agonists of Toll-like receptor (TLR) 3 and 2/6, respectively, was reduced by both PRF and UBC. PRF and UBC lysates reduced the nuclear translocation of p65 in LPS-induced RAW264.7 cells. In contrast to the similar activity observed in the bioassays, UBC membranes lack the structural integrity of PRF membranes, as indicated by the rapid and spontaneous disintegration of UBC membranes. We show here that the lysates prepared from PRF and UBC possess robust TGF-β and anti-inflammatory activity. However, visual inspection of the PRF and UBC membranes confirmed the negative impact of erythrocytes on the structural integrity of membranes prepared from whole blood. The data from the present study suggest that although both UBC and PRF have potent TGF-β and anti-inflammatory activity, UBC does not have the strength properties required to be used clinically to prepare applicable membranes. Thus, centrifugation is necessary to generate durable and clinically applicable blood-derived membranes.

Foram comparados indicadores de uso e qualidade dos serviços de saúde em uma amostra probabilística de adultos (N = 7.534) cobertos por plano privado, Estratégia Saúde da Família (ESF) e unidade básica de saúde (UBS) "tradicional" no Município de Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, Brasil. Após ajustamentos por fatores demográficos, condições de saúde e situação socioeconômica, os indicadores de uso (longitudinalidade, procura por atenção e consultas médicas) apresentaram melhor performance entre usuários regulares da ESF e afiliados a plano privado em comparação aos cobertos pela UBS. As hospitalizações, os exames de rastreamento e a vacinação contra a gripe variaram pouco entre esses grupos. Os indicadores de qualidade (dificuldades para obter consultas, existência de filas, queixa para obtenção de medicamentos e obtenção de consultas em 24 horas) foram melhores entre afiliados a plano privado. A recomendação para outra pessoa dos serviços de saúde utilizados foi mais frequente entre usuários regulares da ESF (61,9%) e afiliados a plano privado (55,6%), em comparação à UBS (45,4%).

Abstract Background Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is the leading cause of infant hospitalizations and risk varies by gestational age (GA). Healthcare utilization following early hospitalizations caused by RSV (RSVH) or unspecified bronchiolitis (UBH) is not well understood. This study examined healthcare resource utilization (HRU) across GA categories within 12 months after an initial RSVH or UBH occurring in the first year of life. Methods Infants born July 1, 2009 to June 30, 2015 were identified in the MarketScan Commercial (COM) and Multistate Medicaid (MED) databases and assigned to GA categories using DRG and ICD codes and to an initial hospitalization cohort using inpatient claim diagnosis codes (RSVH, UBH without RSVH, or COMP [a comparator without RSVH or UBH]). Index dates (first admission dates for hospitalized infants) were assigned to COMP infants using times from birth to index dates among RSVH infants. HRU (hospitalizations, outpatient pharmacy fills, and visits for emergency department [ED], urgent care, wellness, other office or outpatient) excluded index hospitalizations and was assessed from 14 days post-index (or discharge if later) through 12 months post-index. Results were propensity score weighted to balance pre-index characteristics (age, sex, region, GA, birth hospitalization characteristics) across cohorts. Proportions were compared with chi-squared tests. Results Among all infants (all GA categories combined), the proportions of RSVH and UBH cohorts with follow-up hospitalizations or ED visits were greater (P &lt; 0.05) than COMP (hospitalizations: COM +5.8%, +9.3%; MED +9.1%, +12.0%; ED visits: COM +15.8%, +16.2%; MED +14.4%, +17.1%). Follow-up hospitalizations in COM and MED and ED visits in COM declined with greater GA (Figures 1 and 2). HRU in other categories (fills, visits) was significantly (P &lt; 0.05) greater among RSVH or UBH infants relative to COMP for nearly all GA categories in both COM and MED. Conclusion Infants hospitalized for RSV or UB in their first year of life had greater use of inpatient and outpatient resources in the 12 months following their initial hospitalizations compared with nonhospitalized infants. Starch plastic films made ​​from cassava stem starch by using glycerol as plasticizer and acetic acid as a catalyst gelatinized at 75 °C for 15 minutes. Starch weight, water volume, glycerol volume, and acetic acid volume were varied. The variation conditions of 3 ml of acetic acid volume (3:10 w/w) and 2 ml of glycerol volume (1:4 w/w) gave the best of tensile strength and elongation at break analysis. While at water volume variation, the tensile strength value is inversely proportional to the elongation at break. In FTIR analysis found that α-1,6 glycosidic (1010 cm-1) spectrum disappears as the effect of acetic acid presence, while the spectrum of α-1,4 glycosidic, COH, C=O, and OH shifted as the plasticization effect.

User behavior profiling of websites can provide an operator with an estimate of what is actually transpiring on their site. This type of information is essential to keep ahead of the curve in a commercial environment where competition is extremely fierce and continuously evolving. The authors present an automated methodology that uses economically available web server logs to mine User Behavior Profiles (UBP) without adding significant overhead to an existing web system. They prepare user traces from the log files based on the 35 most common actions found on popular websites, and 9 user behavior profiles which describe the majority of current activity patterns identified from those sites. They classify the user trace into a UBP via a Hidden Markov Model (HMM) based classification approach. The authors applied this methodology to the logs of a virtual e-commerce website, and an industrial case study to demonstrate the validity of the proposed approach.

Fe-Ni films with compositions of Fe-75Ni, Fe-50Ni, and Fe-30Ni were used as under bump metallization (UBM) to evaluate the interfacial reliability of SnAgCu/Fe-Ni solder joints through ball shear test, high temperature storage, as well as temperature cycling. The shear strength for Fe-75Ni, Fe-50Ni, and Fe-30Ni solder joints after reflow were 42.57, 53.94, 53.98 MPa respectively, which are all satisfied with the requirement of industrialization (&gt;34.3 MPa ). High temperature storage was conducted at 150°C and 200°C respectively. It was found that higher Fe content in Fe-Ni layer had the ability to inhibit the mutual diffusion at interface region at 150°C, and the growth speed of intermetallic compound (IMC) decreased with the increase of Fe concentration. When stored at 200°C, the thickness of IMC would reach a limitation for all these three films after 4 days, and cracks occurred at the interface between IMC and Fe-Ni layer. Temperature cycling tests revealed that SnAgCu/Fe-50Ni solder joint had the lowest failure rate (less than 10%), which has the best interfacial reliability among three compositions.

Evelyn Waugh’s experiences as captain in the Second World War represented the raw material for several novels, such as Put out More Flags (1942), Men at Arms (1952) and Brideshead Revisited (1945). These novels depict, on the one hand, the experiences of once immature bright young people who are now confronting the war reality, and, on the other, they satirize the military bureaucracy and portray the nostalgia for the conservative age of Catholic English nobility, which disappeared during the war. It could be assumed that these three novels might have been well received in Franco’s Spain as the Catholic theme as well as Waugh’s right-wing conservative beliefs could have influenced the censors’ approval or disapproval. Thus, the present paper will analyse the reception in Spain of Put out More Flags, Men at Arms and Brideshead Revisited considering the reports enclosed in the censorship files guarded at AGA (General Archive of the Administration) in Alcalá de Henares, Madrid. These documents reveal that Waugh’s novels were not easily approved by the Spanish censors during the Francoist dictatorship.

This paper is particularly focused on film-induced tourism investigation as well as its cultural promotion and cultural change effect that impact on both the tourist destinations and the tourist demands. The case studies include the famous Transylvania, Romania as well as the two comparative destinations in Southeast Asia namely Bali in Indonesia, and Penang in Malaysia. Although tourism planners have limited control over the content of the films produced in the respective destinations and how the destinations are being portrayed in films, it is reflected in our studies that, the imaginary, visual representations of the destinations, albeit negative or distorted from their original identities, are still useful and viable to promote the tourist destinations. The three discussion cases form up the stratification of multiple stages in terms of implementing film-induced tourism strategies to promote their destinations, spanning from one of the oldest film-induced tourist destinations Transylvania, to an over decade-long film-induced destination Ubud in Bali, to a sprouting film-induced destination George Town in Penang. Such a stratification of three comparable destinations leads to both the vertical and horizontal evaluation of the effectiveness of film-induced tourism strategies. Hence, a methodology of multiple-case study with mixed-methods characterised by a set of differing qualitative research approaches will be adopted to the three distinctive destinations, respectively. Emerging markets require new techniques and strategies of marketing, especially in the unsettled post-COVID-19 era. Findings may be useful to destination managers in planning an effective destination image strategy in order to achieve the most sustainable positive impacts and aligning the films’ image of the destination with the desired image and the potential audience reach.

AbstractThis report describes the official photographic archives of Idi Amin’s government held by the Uganda Broadcasting Corporation (UBC). During his reign from 1971 to 1979, Idi Amin embraced visual media as a tool for archiving the achievements of populist military rule as his government sought to reorient Ugandans’ relationship with the state. Only a handful of the resulting images were ever printed or seen, reflecting the regime’s archival impulse undergirded by paranoia of unauthorized ways of seeing. The UBC’s newly opened collection of over 60,000 negatives from Amin’s photographers, alongside files at the Uganda National Archives, offers the first comprehensive opportunity to study the Ugandan state under Amin’s dictatorship through the lens of its own documentarians.

This paper describes a physical vapor deposition (PVD) coating equipment, as well as the according deposition parameters suitable to provide hard nitride coatings on broaches up to a length of 2.2 m. The octagonal-shaped vacuum chamber reached a height of 4.5 m and a diameter of 1.2 m. To explore a sufficient and reproducible film, an adhesion test sample and tools were subjected to a pretreatment in a Cr2+ Ar+ high-power impulse magnetron sputtering (HIPIMS) plasma prior to the actual film deposition. Two deposition methods were applied: reactive unbalanced magnetron (UBM) sputtering was introduced to deposit TiAlN-based coatings from Ti50Al50 2.5 m long targets. Alternatively, multilayer coatings were generated by reactive simultaneous UBM sputtering from Ti50Al50 and TiAl6V4 targets, respectively, and chromium targets utilizing high-power impulse magnetron sputtering (HIPIMS) technology. In the latter case, three cathodes were furnished with 0.9 m long targets lined up upon each other. A segmented UBM cathode design was described to meet economic deposition if varying tool sample lots in the deferring workpiece lengths have to be handled in industrial practice. The resulting (TiAl/Cr)N multilayer coatings attained typical hardness values of HV 2800 and an adhesion measured by critical load up to 50 N. The cutting performance of this coating was evaluated by simulated shaping tests over a test length of 210 m on C 45 steel. The (TiAlV/Cr)N showed an improved wear behavior by factor of 2 to 3 compared to TiN deposited by cathodic arc operated in an industrial PVD coater. A real comparison was undertaken, applied to a 1.3 m long model broach. (TiAl/Cr)N showed a prolongation in industrial lifetime by 150% compared to TiN.

Wafers warp. It is important to minimize warpage in order to achieve optimal die yield and potentially prevent future device failure. Although the word warpage is widely used in the literature to represent wafer bow (convex or concave shape), in the real world wafers are often seen into warp into saddle shapes. This complicates the characterization of both the sources of and solutions to warpage, because (as will be discussed) Stoney's formula (relating intrinsic stress and curvature) does not apply for structures warped with compound curvature, and standard wafer warpage measurements are not designed to measure compound curvature. During thin film deposition, wafer warpage occurs due to the intrinsic stresses and the coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) mismatch of the different thin films and the substrate. Unfortunately, whereas the introduction of the thermal stresses due to CTE mismatch into a finite element model is easily understood, the introduction of intrinsic stress is not. Further, although a saddle shape is clearly a physically realizable (indeed, often preferred) equilibrium configuration for a circular disk (consistent with an appropriate state of stress), obtaining a saddle shape in a finite element solution turns out to be extremely difficult, as convex or concave shapes may also be stable and numerically preferred. In this paper, a finite element technique (using ANSYS software) to model wafer warpage is presented. Simulations have been done for silicon wafers with aluminum or standard UBM films on top. Saddle-shaped warpage has been successfully modeled, and the aggravating effects of thinning (back side grinding) have been reproduced.

Upon his return, he becomes a numbed witness to the spectacle of his own family tragedy as the authorities remove his children’s bodies from the burning house scene. This significant event is represented through a sequence of flashbacks, which designates said cinematic device as one of the film’s most important features. Indeed, in The Trauma Question, Roger Luckhurst approaches the flashback as “the cinema’s rendition of the frozen moment of the traumatic impact . . . flash[ing] back insistently in the present because the image cannot yet or perhaps ever be narrativized as past.” Years after the incident, and still unable to address the wound of his parental negligence and child-death trauma, Lee dreams of his dead daughter suggestively asking, “Daddy, can’t you see we are burning?” The question echoes the one from Freud’s The Interpretation of Dreams, where another father dreams of his dead child being burnt. In Unclaimed Experience: Trauma, Narrative, and History, Cathy Caruth examines Freud and Lacan’s analysis of this question as to the significance of grief articulation, trauma coping and trauma persistence in sleep and awaken reality. The purpose of this article is to examine anachrony as a feature which exalts the dysfunctional inertia of a present life and of a traumatized mind afflicted by events which have been impossible to either register, integrate or narrate. Secondly, the article will try to unearth the mechanics of Lee’s grief and guilt via his daughter’s question. Emphasis will be placed on Lee’s inability to assume what Caruth calls the “ethical burden of survival” when asked to be his orphaned nephew’s guardian. This will be viewed as a reminder of Lee’s failure as a parent and as a challenge and invitation for the character to recover from the vacuum of his current death-in-life.

Introdução: O Ministério da Saúde (MS) propôs, em 2004, a implantação do Acolhimento com Avaliação e Classificação de Risco nas Unidades Básicas de Saúde (UBS). Na cidade de Sobral/Ceará, ainda há algumas unidades em processo de implantação. Visto isso, a partir da inserção no serviço de saúde do município, os discentes do curso de graduação em Enfermagem da Universidade Estadual Vale do Acaraú atuaram mediante esse enfoque. Objetivo: Relatar a experiência de acadêmicos de enfermagem no processo de implantação do Acolhimento com Avaliação e Classificação de Risco em uma UBS da cidade de Sobral/Ceará a partir do método do Arco de Maguerez. Métodos: A partir do referencial metodológico de Charles Maguerez, foram realizadas com os profissionais da unidade as seguintes etapas propostas: observação da realidade, a identificação dos pontos-chave, a teorização, o levantamento das hipóteses de solução e a aplicação à realidade. Resultados: Na observação da realidade, foi possível perceber que a forma de acolher os usuários adotada pela unidade resultava em extensas filas de espera e conflitos. Partindo da investigação dos pontos-chave, foram organizadas oficinas de alinhamento teórico-reflexivo com cada classe de profissionais da unidade, resultando na etapa da teorização e concomitante a esta, no decorrer das oficinas de alinhamento foram levantadas dos profissionais hipóteses de solução, sendo por fim modificada a realidade a partir da implantação do Acolhimento com Avaliação e Classificação de Risco. Conclusão: A intervenção foi importante para expor a realidade do serviço com suas deficiências e propor estratégias de melhorias a partir da formação dos profissionais envolvidos no uso de metodologias que permitissem sua atuação conjunta, obtendo-se assim melhora dos atendimentos realizados pela equipe de saúde e processos de trabalho.

Resumen
CN-Nb, CN-Ti and CN-Zr that are respectively doped with Nb, Ti and Zr metal in a CN coating are deposited on SKH51 substrate using DC unbalanced magnetron sputtering (DC-UBM). The coatings’ chemical characterization, morphology, mechanical, tribological and corrosion properties are determined. The XRD analysis shows when a low content of metal is added, the coatings exhibit DLC structures. Result from the incorporation of metals, coatings performed denser texture. Simultaneously, the surface became smoother and denser while surface roughness varied from 0.036 to about 0.020 mm. Various properties are improved over CN coating, CN-Ti has a 64% greater hardness at 21.9 Gpa and adhesion 26% better, with a critical load of 87 N. The elastic recovery ranges from 68% (CN) to 100% (CN-Nb and CN-Zr), the wear rate varies from 0.51 10-6mm3/Nm (CN) to 0.1 10-6mm3/Nm (CN-Zr) and the wear depth is reduced by about 73%. An increase in the elastic recovery gives a decreased wear rate. In addition, the corrosion resistance is increased because there is a decrease in the corrosion current density and the CN-Zr coating performed about 35 times better than a CN coating.

Resumen
The method of unity bond index–quadratic exponential potential (UBI–QEP) is employed to derive the energetic parameters associated with the steps of the pathway which we propose for the catalytic decomposition of azomethane on the Pd (111) surface. According to the energy calculations, azomethane adsorbs molecularly in trans-configuration and then decomposes to CH 3 N with no activation energy. The reaction continues by tilting and dehydrogenation to the products ( H 2 and HCN). The calculated activation energies at various surface coverages perfectly account for the variation of relative yields of H 2 and HCN with changing of the coverage of azomethane. According to the calculations, desorption of molecular azomethane at high surface coverage occurs, which is in excellent agreement with experimental data.
