Resumen
In this study, we proposed a process of an accelerated life testing method of 5-speed manual transmissions used in vehicles, which loads are consisted of multiple alternating loads. The entire process of an 5-speed manual transmission’s accelerated life testing method where no failures are allowed, is a process that requires an abundance of assumptions, and other factors that are estimates such as the shape parameter, beta() and the fatigue damage exponent (x). And the process is consisted of 7-step process. From the 1-setp, which is the deriving the service(use) torque and speed(rpm) profile of the transmission, to the 7-step, we could determine the accelerated life time, the accelerated torque and the accelerated speed(rpm), which are the equivalent cumulative fatigue damage. Also, we have performed accelerated life test on 5-speed manual transmission by using the following 7-step process.

Resumen
Transmission gears are very widely used in the modern construction of the machine. Even though electrical transmissions are used, mainly mechanical transmissions are widely used in the machine building industry as they are independent and better than other transmissions. Distributing power between the transmission mechanisms and working units of various machines, by changing the angle of momentum by adjusting the speed of the parts, it is possible to change the type of movement, turn the mechanism on and off, and change the direction of the transmission mechanisms. One of the most widespread types of transmission technology is gear transmission. Tens of thousands of kilowatt-hours of gears can be transmitted. The advantages of gear transmission in comparison with others are their ability to maintain their reliability and long-term functioning of the teeth, high value of the working coefficient (0.90–0.99), simple construction, lack of special service, simplicity of the transmission number and compactness of dimensions. The missing aspects of these transmissions are high precision in their preparation and installation, and low noise level. The main criterion for the working ability of the closed gear transmissions is the contact endurance of the active surface of the tooth. For this reason, the main dimensions of the transmission are determined by the contact tension and by teeth bending.

Resumen
Abstract This article presents an overview of model-based transmission control. The transmission is an integral part of the automotive powertrain and connects the engine to the vehicle via the driveline. Just as for the internal combustion engine, traditional transmission control has been conducted with extensive calibrations. This is mainly due to the lack of precise models and low cost sensors that can enable real-time model-based feedback control. However the calibration-based approach is facing more challenges as the recent trend in transmission systems has driven up the time and cost associated with the calibration process. Recently, eight and nine speed transmissions have been introduced. The increasing number of different types of transmissions and the gear ratios can drastically increase the burden for control calibration. This calls for control-oriented model development and model-based control. Transmission control is mainly concerned with the transmission shift scheduling and gear ratio shift control. This shift scheduling determines when to shift and which gear to shift.

Resumen
Background: The rollout of antiviral therapy in Low and Middle Income Countries (LMICs) has reduced HIV transmission rates at the potential risk of resistant HIV transmission. We sought to predict the risk of wild type and antiviral resistance transmissions in these settings. Methods: A predictive model utilizing viral load, ART adherence, genital ulcer disease, condom use, and sexual event histories was developed to predict risks of HIV transmission to wives of 233 HIV+ men in 4 antiretroviral treatment centers in Maharashtra, India. Results: ARV Therapy predicted a 5.71-fold reduction in transmissions compared to a model of using condoms alone, with 79.9%, of remaining transmissions resulting in primary ART-resistance. Conclusions: ART programs reduce transmission of HIV to susceptible partners at a substantial increased risk for transmission of resistant virus. Enhanced vigilance in monitoring adherence, use of barrier protections, and viral load may reduce risks of resistant HIV transmissions in LMIC settings.

Resumen
It is ordinary that riwāyah (oral transmission) has been the main media in transmitting knowledge. Indeed, for the Arabs, the transmission system was used not only in transmitting hadits, but also in transmitting the history. In terms of the transmission of traditions, the transmitters were very strict in applying the rules of transmission. Hence, such an isnād system has a very important value in the history. Muslims in the past gave much attention to such an isnād system. The transmissions of poetry had been emerged before the transmissions did. Every poetry has the transmitters. They keep and guarantee the continuity of the poetry transmission. The relation between the poetry transmitters and their poetries is not different from that of the transmitters of hadits and their hadits. Key words: hadits, isnād, Jahiliyah poetry, oral transmission.

Design of gear power transmissions moves towards reduction of vibration and noise pollution after have improving geometry. Since several years, transmission error is recognised as the main measurable excitation of the gearing mechanisms. In this work, we have chosen to introduce an experimental model of transfer between transmission error and acoustic effects on a one-stage gearing system, taking into account real operating conditions. From the available structures of parametric model, only the ARMAX model seems to be a reliable description of transfer function with a low number of parameters. These models nevertheless require signal modifications and an analysis by frequency bands. The presented study is essentially concerned with mesh frequency. The physical interpretation of the models runs though establishment of the differential equation which governs the concerned system. This first approach shows that the excitation is described by a combination of transmission error and its first time derivative. A parametric study, with the help of experimental design, leads to the conclusion that load is not the most influent factor and that geometric factors are associated with operating factors. These factors change the mechanism of gear noise generation. Taking these modifications into account on differential equation coefficients permits to propose a complex hybrid model of the transfer between transmission error and gearing noise. This modelisation method can be used on entire gearing power transmissions like automotive gearbox

Resumen

Offshore power transmission is becoming an increasingly important issue. To moderate climate change, world leaders have set environmental goals that will be very difficult to reach without renewable power production and the removal of production units with high emissions. Wind power and electrification have been the focus in this report. Plans for the expensive wind power are already moving offshore. This report has made an attempt at suggesting a guideline for well-suited transmission systems, for wind power projects located at a distance in order to make them more economically attractive. Another emphasis has been to find the most suitable transmission system for gas turbines at offshore installations. As expected, the use of alternating current is best suited at shorter distances. At longer distances this system is still feasible up to 350 km, but losses will be high and there will be limited power available. A conventional thyristor-based direct current system will therefore be an attractive option for high power ratings and long distances. On the other hand, direct current based on voltage-source converters is considered more expensive, but has an improved control of reactive power and is therefore preferable to the conventional direct current system. To determine which system has the best design, one has to consider each case individually.

Pork and pork products are recognized as one of the major sources for human salmonellosis. Howeveri the infection control in the farms is considered essential for the Salmonella prevention in the productive swine chain. However, the most impediment in the infection prophylaxis is, mainly, the lack of knowledge on its epidemiology in intensives production systems, mainly related to the transmission possible ways of this agent. This study has tested the hypothesis of nose-to-nose and airborne transmission of Salmonella Derby in the swine species. The trials were performed using stainlesssteel and glass isolation cabinets and totally controlled. In the trial 1, inoculated pigs and sentinel pigs isolation cabinets were connected by small crack that allowed only the nose-to-nose contact. In the trial 2 isolation cabinets were connected by air ducts that allowed an unidirectional airflow from cabinet 1 (control pigs) to cabinet 3 (sentinel pigs), passing through cabinet 2 (inoculated pigs). The duration of both trials were 15 days. At this period, slurry bags, rectal swabs, pooled faecal from the floor and air samples were collected daily and assessed by culture and PCR. The nose-to-nose and airborne transmission hypothesis of S. Derby was not corroborated by the agent isolation and detection in the sentinel pigs.

Resumen
The current situation of insufficient investment in transmission tends to weaken the advantages of a deregulated power industry. These shortages mainly arise because of the risk of not recovering the cost of investing in new lines Location Marginal prices (LMPs) and Financial Transmission Rights (FTRs) are key elements in reducing these investment risks. Market participants are able to hedge against price fluctuations caused by transmission congestion through the purchase or sale of FTRs. The value of FTRs, which is tied to the difference in prices between locations in the network, would indicate where transmission expansion should be implemented.

Resumen

The Internet has rapidly evolved from being a scientific experiment to a commercial network connecting millions of hosts that carries traffic generated by a large amount of applications with diverse requirements. Its architecture was however designed to enable efficient point-to-point delivery of bulk data, and can not provide statistical guarantees on the timely delivery of delay sensitive data such as streaming and real-time multimedia. Thus, applications that require low loss probabilities in today's Internet have to use some end-to-end error recovery mechanism. For delay sensitive applications the introduced latency by the applied schemes has to be low as well. Traffic control functions such as delay limited shaping and forward error correction (FEC), and multiple description coding (MDC) have been proposed for variable bitrate video. Their major drawback is, however, that it is difficult to predict their efficiency, as it depends on many factors like the characteristics of the stream itself, the characteristics of the traffic in the network and the network parameters. Consequently, it is difficult to decide which control mechanisms to employ, how to combine them and to choose the right parameters (e.g. block length, code rate) for optimal performance.

In this thesis we present results on the efficiency of traffic control functions and MDC for video transmission based on mathematical models and simulations. We investigate the efficiency of delay limited traffic shaping and the trade-offs in the joint use of traffic shaping and forward error correction. We identify the packet size distribution of the traffic in the network as an additional factor that may influence the efficiency of FEC, and present a thorough analysis of its possible effects. We present an analytical comparison of MDC versus media-dependent FEC and media-independent FEC, and based on the results we conclude that MDC is a promising error control solution for multimedia communications with very strict delay bounds in an environment with bursty losses. We combine the analytical results with traces from measurements performed on the Internet to evaluate how efficient these error control schemes are under real loss patterns. We compare the efficiency of MDC and media-dependent FEC in the presence of channel estimation errors; we propose a new rate allocation method, which is robust to mis-estimations of the channel state and which improves error resilience on non-stationary channels. Finally we present an analytical model of the performance of an end-point-based multimedia streaming architecture based on multiple distribution trees and forward error correction, and analyze the behavior of the architecture for a large number of nodes.

Within high-speed aerospace transmissions, lubrication system design contributes heavily to windage losses and overall transmission efficiency. Often, qualifying the lubrication system for a high-speed transmission is considered one of the largest risks to a program given the transmission’s predisposition to overheat and the iterative nature of lubrication system design. This paper describes the development of a new high-speed transmission lubrication scavenge system and the testing that was done to qualify two separate configurations of the transmission for flight test. The testing detailed in this paper was successful in qualifying a research and development transmission for the H47 T408 Engine Demonstration Program and was utilized to inform future lubrication system designs for high-speed transmissions.

Resumen
There are two basic types of transmissions — manual and automatic. While manual transmissions have greater transmission efficiency and better overall driving experience, it is difficult and not as easy to handle as automatic transmissions. Automatic transmissions make life a lot easier for the driver but are less efficient and laggard. So, the aim of this project is to take the best of both worlds and combine it in one, i.e. a transmission system that is capable of working as both a manual and an automatic transmission. For this, we plan to automate a regular manual transmission with a manual override option on both the clutch and the gearbox systems. Motors will be used to control the clutch and the changing of gears in the gearbox. In the manual mode, the motors will be operated by user input switches (clutch pedal and stick shift). In the automatic mode, the same motors will be controlled by a control algorithm based on various inputs like weight of the car, inclination, speed of the engine and the car etc.

Resumen
Abstract The transmission used in this project has been worked on by three senior design teams. The fourth team is currently working to design control mechanisms to automate the manual dual planetary transmission. The control mechanisms are a combination of mechanical and pneumatic systems that are controlled by a Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) program. The transmission will be used in the Machine Elements Design Laboratory to educate students on gear transmissions and levers. SolidWorks software was used to draw and simulate the mechanical parts of the control systems, before being sent to a machine shop for manufacturing. The first control system uses vertical levers and linear actuators to control the brakes, while the second uses horizontal levers and rodless pneumatic cylinders to control the clutches. Willis Gearing Theory was then used to determine the six gear ratios realized by the transmission. To automate the mechanical parts of the control systems, a program was designed and uploaded to the CPU console. A Human Machine Interface (HMI) displays the transmission’s speed and torque readings from the PLC. It is expected that the future group will the finish the automation of the transmission and proceed with the testing phase.

Resumen
Over the past two decades, numerous research efforts have been aimed at developing efficient transmissions, in particular automotive ones, which can significantly reduce energy consumption and improve the dynamic properties of the car. The driving performance of a vehicle is one of the most important qualities that ensures comfortable movement of the passenger, which also affects traffic safety. One way to achieve this goal is to use transmissions that provide continuously variable control. gear ratio. The Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) provides continuous shifting, changing the ratio between the input and output shafts within the desired range, which consequently improves fuel economy and vehicle performance by better matching engine operating conditions to changing road conditions. This article discusses the possibility of using composite transmissions - gear differential mechanisms closed by (CVT). Various schemes of composite transmissions are given. The conditions under which the transmission ratio of the entire transmission must be changed by changing the transmission ratio (CVT) included in the combined transmission have been studied.

Resumen
The range of possible tasks achievable by robots highly depends on the selection of motors and transmissions. For example, variable ratio transmissions surpass single ratio transmissions because they can modify the torque-speed parameters of the actuator and, therefore, maintain the optimal power output state from the motor. Consequently, the use of variable ratio transmissions may expand a robot’s achievable tasks. A robotic joint with continuously variable transmission ratio is presented in this paper. This new type of transmission joint may be used in serial or parallel robots. The transmission consists of a doubly actuated two-degree-of-freedom five-bar parallel mechanism. The main actuator is located at the input revolute joint. The variation of the ratio is achieved with the adjustment actuator located at a second revolute joint. Such a transmission, based on a linkage, may have unde-sired ratio variations for a constant adjustement joint position. Therefore, two different optimization methods are presented to determine the best geometric parameters in order to minimize the undesired ratio variation while maximizing the possible transmission ratio range. The performance indices are either optimal for the entire range or only for the maximum and minimum ratios available. A simulation is presented with the best parameters obtained with the optimization based on the maximum and minimum ratios. Results show a transmission ratio ranging from 0.9:1 to 4.5:1 with a minimal amplification of 3.9:1. The transmission ratio may vary continuously within the working boundaries. The output range of motion may be adapted to a serial robot joint.

Resumen
Abstract A method for derivation of relationships for general mechanical transmission systems is given. The method is adapted for computer aided analysis and synthesis of the kinematics, loads and power flows. Losses are included. All relationships are handled by a computer program. No manual formulation and elimination of equations are necessary. The user only needs to describe the transmission system: 1. The transmission units, e.g. gear transmissions, planetary gear trains, clutches, input and output shafts. 2. How the shafts of those units are connected. Then, the computer program formulates and arranges the relationships. After that, a commercial program, “Maple”, performs the algebraic eliminations. Relationships between the speeds and/or torques of two arbitrary shafts can be derived, e.g. an algebraic relationship for the overall efficiency. Different power flows are possible in split-power transmissions. Special algorithms handle that. The method is a useful tool. It saves time and eliminates the risk for human errors.

Resumen
Noise in vehicular automatic transmissions is a complex phenomenon involving several interacting factors. One of the contributing factors to noise for a single pair of meshing gears has been shown to be the transmission error. The transmission error (TE) is defined in terms of deviation of the speed ratio from the ideal speed ratio. It has since been hypothesized that the composite transmission error in a planetary system would be the key contributor to noise in automatic transmissions. This composite error would have to include the contributions from individual meshes and account for the configuration of the transmission system. This paper describes a design system that enables engineers to predict and study effects of parameter variation on the composite transmission error. The designer first specifies the configuration of the transmission using canonical graphs. The graph contains the elements such as gears, clutches and brakes of the transmission system as its nodes and the relationship among them for the edges. The design system uses the graph to solve for the speeds and torques. The transmission errors for the individual meshes are computed and then combined into the composite transmission error using a simple average.

Resumen
Increasingly electric vehicle design is looking forward the application of multiple ratio transmissions in place of traditional single ratio gearboxes. The choice of gear ratio has significant influence on vehicle performance, including range, acceleration, and gradeability. To study the impact of different transmissions on EV’s dynamic and economic performance, mathematical models of an EV is presented which is applicable to both single and multiple ratio transmissions. These transmission variants are then studied under different operating conditions to investigate how operating conditions in the motor work efficiency change with different transmissions. Here comparisons are made between 2-speed and single speed transmission. Then the reasons for the results are analysed.
