Resumen
Filarioid nematodes (Nematoda: Filarioidea) parasitic in Australasian monotremes, marsupials and murid rodents are described from three genera, Breinlia (Breinlia), Pelecitus and Sprattia. New host and geographic records are presented for 24 previously described species from these genera, a second subgenus, Breinlia (Johnstonema) and an additional three genera, Cercopithifilaria, Monanema and Pelecitus. Nine species are described as new, B. (B.) beveridgei sp. nov. from the peritoneal cavity of Macropus parryi Bennett, B. (B.) bigenera sp. nov. from the peritoneal and pleural cavities of Aepyprymnus rufescens (Gray), Onychogalea fraenata (Gould), O. unguifera (Gould) and possibly Antechinus swainsonii (Waterhouse), B. (B.) dorcopsis sp. nov. from the peritoneal cavity of Dorcopsis hageni Heller and D. luctuosa (D’Albertis), B. (B.) melomyos sp. nov. from the peritoneal cavity of Melomys cf. burtoni, B. (B.) oweni sp. nov. from the peritoneal cavity of Dactylopsila trivirgata Gray, B. (B.) presidentei sp. nov. from the peritoneal cavity of Mesembriomys gouldii (Gray), M. macrurus (Peters) and the pleural and peritoneal cavities of Conilurus penicillatus (Gould), B. (B.) tricondylus sp. nov. from the peritoneal cavity of Macropus rufogriseus banksianus (Quoy & Gaimard), B. (B.) zyzomyos sp. nov. from the peritoneal cavity of Zyzomys woodwardi (Thomas) and Z. argurus (Thomas), and Sprattia spearei sp. nov. from the lung (probably blood vessels) of Isoodon macrourus (Gould) . The female of B. (J.) woerlei from the pulmonary artery, right ventricle and lung cysts of Petrogale brachyotis (Gould) is described for the first time. Breinlia (J.) andersoni Spratt & Varughese, 1975 from the subcutaneous connective tissues of Macropus rufus (Desmarest), M. giganteus Shaw, M. robustus erubescens Sclater and Wallabia bicolor (Desmarest) is placed as a synonym of B. (J.) annulipapillata (Johnston & Mawson, 1938) from the subcutaneous connective tissues of M. dorsalis (Gray), O. fraenata and W. bicolor. In general, filarioids predominate in macropodoid hosts and in the north of Australia.

Resumen
Abstract The plant fossil genera Umkomasia Thomas 1933 and Pteruchus Thomas 1933 emend. Townrow 1962 are known chiefly from the Middle and Upper Triassic of Gondwana. The structure of these fructifications has been conjectural, some being identified as pinnate, others as helically arranged. Specimens from the Ladinian-lower Norian of Queensland (northeastern Australia) show that the female and male fructifications - U. geminata (Shirley 1898) Rigby in Playford et al. 1982 emend. nov. and P. dubius Thomas 1933 emend. Townrow 1962, respectively - have a bipinnate structure. Those fructifications and the bipinnate leaf, Dicroidium feistmantelii (Johnston 1894) Gothan 1912, probably all belonged to the same parent plant. It was first suggested by John Townrow in 1962 that the sporangial heads of P. dubius have a pinnate structure; this character is confirmed herein. Pteruchus is recorded for the first time from the Carnian Tarong Basin, Queensland. The holotype of Stachyopitys simmondsii Shirley 1898 is shown to be ovuliferous. The species is recombined as Umkomasia simmondsii (Shirley 1898) comb. et emend. nov. Genuine male fructifications, previously identified as S. simmondsii, and later as Pteruchus simmondsii (Shirley 1898) Jones and de Jersey 1947, are assigned to P. minor Thomas 1933. That species comprises the smallest fructifications of the genus. Townrovia polaris Bomfleur et al. 2011 and Stachyopitys lacrisporangia Anderson & Anderson 2003 are identified as junior synonyms to P. minor. The diagnosis of Townrovia Retallack 1981 is inaccurate and the genus is insufficiently distinguished from Pteruchus.

In this article, we propose to explore some cartoon’s concepts used by the Walt Disney Animation Studios for a long time, which we find in Frank Thomas and Ollie Johnston’s The Illusion of Life: Disney Animation (1981). By the perspective of Discoursive Semiotics, we can comprehend how the motion pictures’ composition, the form of motion, has its meaning, becoming a sign itself, with a signifier and a signified. Using traditional Greimasian Semiotics’ generative course (GREIMAS; COURTÉS, 2013), focusing on the semio-narrative level, and Zilberberg’s Tensive Semiotics and its valencies and missivity (ZILBERBERG, 2006a 2006b), we note that every motion sequence in a film organizes itself in a syntagm. Within this syntactic order with tensive base, narrative programs appear along with its values, actants and doings. Hence, we see how expression forms are not only support to content forms which disappear after effective communication, but that expression forms are, in this animatorial articulation, the originating center of meaning, with its own generative levels in the expression plane (rhythm and motor levels) and content plane (tensive, missive and narrative levels). It also opens a door to formulate a grammar for expression forms in SemioticsKEYWORDS: animation; tensivity; narrativity.

Resumen
A number of casts of complete or portions of plesiosaurs from the Lower Jurassic of England are stored or displayed in the Geological Museum of Trinity College, Dublin. The historical significance of these has only relatively recently been realised. They include specimens from the collections of Thomas Hawkins, William Willoughby Cole the Earl of Enniskillen, and the Bristol City Museum. They came into the possession of Trinity College, Dublin either by donation from the Geological Society of Dublin in 1848 or from William Johnston Sollas in the late 1800s. These casts include the holotype of Thalassiodracon hawkinsi (Owen, 1838); a sternum and scapula illustrated by Thomas Hawkins and now referable to Eurycleidus arcuatus (Owen, 1840); a complete skeleton of Plesiosaurus macrocephalus Owen, 1838; the right and left side of a skull of Eurypterygius communis(Conybeare, 1822) the original of which was at the Birmingham Philosophical Institution; the skull and the right front flipper of Rhomaleosaurus megacephalus(Stutchbury, 1846); and a badly damaged cast of Attenborosaurus conybeari (Sollas, 1881). The latter two examples are important because the originals once in Bristol were destroyed in 1940 during the Second World War.

Resumen
This chapter looks at English renditions of Aeneid 7, a book that has not traditionally been the subject of close study, as a counterweight to the heavy emphasis on Dido in the Aeneid. In place of the usual focus upon ?arms and the man?, Keith considers the relationship drawn by Virgil’s English translators between ‘arms’ and a ‘woman’, manifested in representations of Lavinia in Book 7. These representations further lead to understanding how the translators also shape Virgil’s narrative of the Italian War, beginning with Thomas Phaer’s 1558 translation and ending with those of Sarah Ruden (2008) and Patricia A. Johnston (2012).

Resumen
Four captivity narratives set in the Great Lakes region during the second half of the eighteenth century feature scenes in which Native Americans present the authors with books. These book presentations were symbolic interactions, in which the Indians affirmed their recognition of the value of books to the colonists. When the adopted captive James Smith lost his books, he feared for his life; by finding them and restoring them to him, his Kahnawake Mohawk kin paradoxically enabled his immersion in their society. For the diplomat Thomas Morris, who was detained by Miamis, and Thomas Ridout and Charles Johnston, who were both captured by Shawnees, their books facilitated their participation in secular literary culture. For Morris and Ridout, especially, the books furnished striking allegorical parallels to their experiences.

Resumen
In this chapter, Julia Bohlmann considers the ways in which different Scottish agencies tried to utilise early cinema for non-commercial purposes and so created an alternative social role for it. She offers a case study of the development of the municipal cinema in Kirkintilloch as part of a socialist experiment instigated by Labour councillor Thomas Johnston, following the principles of Keir Hardie, and seeking to establish cinema as a contributor to the Common Good. The chapter is significant in noting a commitment to promoting cinema as ‘rational entertainment’ with a positive social role.

Resumen
Abstract Brigham Young learns of the attack on Fort Limhi, dashing his hopes that Native American tribes would side with the Mormons against the troops. This event may have contributed to a more conciliatory attitude on his part. After his meeting with Mormon leaders, Thomas L. Kane travels to Camp Scott, where he convinces Governor Alfred Cumming to come to Salt Lake City to meet with Young, against the warning of recently breveted General Albert Sidney Johnston. Though Cumming is begrudgingly accepted as governor by the people of Utah, while Cumming is away, Judge Delana Eckles indicts Young and others for treason for resisting the U.S. troops. Cumming and Thomas L. Kane begin a journey to southern Utah to investigate the Mountain Meadows Massacre, but their journey is cut short when Kane receives word that his father has unexpectedly died. Kane and Cumming return to Salt Lake City upon hearing the news.

Resumen
On July 17, Sherman moved all of his troops to the south side of the Chattahoochee River and marched on Atlanta, with James B. McPherson's Army of the Tennessee moving the longest distance to reach Decatur east of Atlanta and tear up the Georgia Railroad as it advanced toward the city. This cut one of the three railroads Johnston relied on to feed his army in Atlanta. George H. Thomas' Army of the Cumberland had the shortest route to march, crossing the Chattahoochee near its junction with Peach Tree Creek, moving to Buck Head, and then marching south toward Atlanta. John M. Schofield's Army of the Ohio tried to fill in the distance between those two forces. As the Federals advanced with minor skirmishing against a screen of Confederate cavalry, Davis decided to relieve Johnston of command and elevate John Bell Hood to replace him. Hood, taken by surprise, tried to convince Davis to change his mind or at least postpone the change in commanders but the Confederate president refused to do so. Hood finally assumed his new command on July 18 and tried to prepare the Army of Tennessee to meet Sherman's advance.
