Resumen
Schleicher was so enthusiastic about the idea of the Indo-European languages reconstruction that in 1868 he even used it to write a fable. Inspired by his work, from the Schleicherian reconstruction of text in the usual sense of this word, some Moscow semioticians turned to the reconstruction of texts in one of the senses of this particular concept accepted in the Moscow-Tartu semiotic school.

Resumen
In language testing literature, the lexical profiles issue has been extensively discussed when examining the quality of reading texts in high-stakes tests. The interpretation and use of lexical profiles, however, have been lacking a point of reference (i.e., benchmarks). Therefore, this study attempts to establish benchmarks for lexical profiles of reading texts in a high-stakes test in China – the National Matriculation English Test (NMET). To elicit sufficient samples, a corpus of 909 NMET reading texts was constructed. Based on the corpus, two stages were employed. Firstly, the 909 texts were screened through a text coverage analysis and representative text samples were selected. Secondly, two sets of benchmarks were established based on the text samples. Overall, this study contributes empirical evidence to evaluating the lexical profiles of NMET reading texts, and has practical implications for developing reading texts in high-stakes tests.

Resumen
The Medi-test system we developed was motivated by the large number of resources available for the medical domain, as well as the number of tests needed in this field (during and after the medical school) for evaluation, promotion, certification, etc. Generating questions to support learning and user interactivity has been an interesting and dynamic topic in NLP since the availability of e-book curricula and e-learning platforms. Current e-learning platforms offer increased support for student evaluation, with an emphasis in exploiting automation in both test generation and evaluation. In this context, our system is able to evaluate a student’s academic performance for the medical domain. Using medical reference texts as input and supported by a specially designed medical ontology, Medi-test generates different types of questionnaires for Romanian language. The evaluation includes 4 types of questions (multiple-choice, fill in the blanks, true/false, and match), can have customizable length and difficulty, and can be automatically graded. A recent extension of our system also allows for the generation of tests which include images. We evaluated our system with a local testing team, but also with a set of medicine students, and user satisfaction questionnaires showed that the system can be used to enhance learning.

Resumen
Abstract : With the objective to optimize the teaching of written comprehension in the teaching of French as a Foreign Language at Middle School in Algeria, Textbooks’ designers make alterations to particular components of authentic texts to make them more accessible to learners. The present paper aims to determine how these adjustments affect texts readability. After having identified the processes used in adapting the authentic texts of the FFL coursebooks, we analyzed the results of written comprehension tests of two groups of learners. The first group was evaluated on the reading of the authentic texts, while the second group was evaluated on the adapted version of the same texts. Actually, the results of the tests of the altered version provide, in general, a better readability. However, our in-depth investigation has revealed two distinct forms of adaptations: One has a positive effect, while the other has a rather negative effect, thus, to avoid.

AbstractWith a selection of both themes and delicate topics of the present, the Myths Reinterpreted in Contemporary Francophone Dramatury Anthology brings together established voices and young spirits around texts focused on young audiences. Jean-Pierre Dopagne, Axel Cornil, Marine Bachelot Nguyen, Veronica Mabardi, Gustave Akakpo, Jean- François Guibault and Andreanne Joubert are the authors present between the covers of this mosaic, but harmonious volume. The great figures of the Greek tragedy are seen again by the dwarves on the shoulders of the giants, much like the present with which they come to overlap.

Resumen
This article explores and extends one aspect of the research theories and methods defined by Lester-Irabinna Rigney (1999) as ‘Indigenist research’, namely, published sources. We view published sources broadly as incorporating poetry, life histories, community histories, creation stories, scholarly articles and books. This article seeks to operationalise Indigenist research in the context of the sources that are central to academic work and critically engage with how the ontologies that inform knowledges are valued in the academy. We aim to explore the relationships Aboriginal people create with the parts of their knowledges that have become translated into text. Whilst acknowledging that oral traditions and processes are fundamentally important, this article seeks to situate sources published by Aboriginal people as a key part of the ‘contestation of knowledge’ that lies at the heart of Indigenist research (Rigney 1999: 116). Our aim is to start the conversation about the issues that are raised in framing how primary and secondary sources might be constituted within Indigenist research. We are two Aboriginal scholars of the Palyku people, and one non-Indigenous scholar. Writing in this academic space requires openness, sharing and profound trust between collaborators, which we have had the privilege of developing together over many years.

Resumen
In this essay I argue for a shift away from the study of texts in the study of religions in order to facilitate a move towards the critical study of audiences and interpretive communities. Through an analysis of historical and contemporary materials relating to the lowland Christianized Philippines, I suggest that the meaning of Christianity and Christian texts and symbols in the Philippines has always been mediated by culturally and historically located audiences and interpreters. As such, in order to understand the transmission and authorization of Christian "truth" in the archipelago, special attention must be paid to the creative and agentive forces unintentionally unleashed by mission, colonialism and on-going processes of modernization and globalization. In the concluding part of the essay I raise some general questions and problems arising from this attentiveness to audiences and interpretive communities.
