Texto completoThe contemporary society is immersed in a state of surveillance, which forces it to set up specific security devices. The surveillance techniques used are mainlybased on observation and listening. Thus, cinema, as an audio and visual art has adopted some of these devices, such as the surveillance camera. This research takes part in the Visual Culture Studies, and aims to offer anarcheological description followed by the analysis of a specific gaze, that of the surveillance cameras, which has often been actualized over the past several years through narrative cinema. Consequently, the increased presence of thesesurveillance images in the movies shows the impact of social phenomenons in the representation of images produced by the authorities and those produced by private citizens. With the notions of surveillance and sousveillance, the surveillance camerain cinema displays several points of view of the world that surrounds us, using also hybrid representations through the intermediality offered by films

Texto completoSchizophrenia is characterized by a tendency to misattribute internal thoughts as real perceptions originating from the external environment. These confusions in reality monitoring are particularly prevalent in patients with auditory hallucinations. They may stem from a deficit in agency (self/non-self) or localization (internal/external). This deficit in localization could correspond to an alteration in externalization, defined as the perception of an auditory source outside the head. However, no study has directly explored the hypothesis of altered externalization in schizophrenia in relation to reality monitoring confusions. Thus, this thesis aims to explore this hypothesis. To this end, we conducted a systematic review on basic auditory processing in schizophrenia, which revealed deficit in the processing of pitch (frequency), duration, and volume, as well as in localization of external sources (Study 1). In a second study, we extended these observations by investigating externalization in patients with schizophrenia compared to healthy volunteers. We highlighted confusions in the externalization in patients, which appear to be associated with their symptoms (Study 2). However, we found no link with reality monitoring abilities, suggesting that it may be more closely related to agency deficits. To understand the origins of externalization confusions, we conducted a third neuroimaging study in which we demonstrated greater activation of the left planum temporale during the perception of external sounds compared to internal sounds in healthy individuals (Study 3). Furthermore, stimulation of this brain region reduces externalization and increases misattribution errors of sources perceived as imagined, although it does not affect agency abilities. In conclusion, these results indicate that, in addition to impairments in auditory processing, difficulties in auditory externalization may constitute a key characteristic of schizophrenia, much like reality monitoring confusions. However, the behavioral and neural relationships between externalization, reality monitoring, and agency require further investigation to be better defined
Bailon-Ruiz, Rafael. "Design of a wildfire monitoring system using fleets of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles". Thesis, Toulouse, INSA, 2020. http://www.theses.fr/2020ISAT0011.
Texto completoWildfires, also known as forest or wildland fires, are uncontrolled vegetation fires occurring in rural areas that cause tremendous damage to the society, harming environment, property and people. The firefighting endeavor is a dull, dirty and dangerous job and as such, can greatly benefit from automation to reduce human exposure to hazards. Aerial remote sensing is a common technique to obtain precise information about a wildfire state so fire response teams can prepare countermeasures. This task, when performed with manned aerial vehicles, expose operators to high risks that can be eliminated by the use of autonomous vehicles. This thesis introduces a wildfire monitoring system based on fleets of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to provide firefighters with timely updated information about a wildland fire. We present an approach to plan trajectories for a fleet of fixed-wing UAVs to observe a wildfire evolving over time. Realistic models of the terrain, of the fire propagation process, and of the UAVs are exploited, together with a model of the wind, to predict wildfire spread and plan UAV motion. The approach tailors a generic Variable Neighborhood Search method to these models and the associated constraints. The execution of the planned monitoring mission provides wildfire maps that are transmitted to the fire response team and exploited by the planning algorithm to plan new observation trajectories. Algorithms and models are integrated within a software architecture allowing for execution under scenarios with different levels of realism, with real and simulated UAVs flying over a real or synthetic wildfire. Mixed-reality simulation results show the ability to plan observation trajectories for a small fleet of UAVs, and to update the plans when new information on the fire are incorporated in the fire model
Rousset, Thomas. "Distorsion de la perception visuelle spatiale en réalité virtuelle : mythe ou réalité ?" Thesis, Aix-Marseille, 2018. http://www.theses.fr/2018AIXM0719/document.
Texto completoThis thesis aims to better understand the mechanisms that underlie spatial visual perception, and more particularly the perception of egocentric distance. We seek to determine the reasons that egocentric distance is, in general, underestimated when the observer is placed in a virtual reality device in relation to the real world. In a first study, we show that the presence of visual cues related to the head motion parallax impacts the drivers behavior in driving simulator differently depending on whether it is coupled to a stereoscopic vision or not. In the second study, we show that the analyse of interpersonal variability can be very informative and leads us to believe that the phenomenon of underestimation of distance in virtual reality is not generalizable to all participants. In the third study, using a gain factor identification model, we propose a method to distinguish the effect of egocentric distance perceptual errors from the perception of distance traveled. The results of these studies show that inter-individual variability must be taken into account in the evaluation of spatial perception. In addition, its provide evidence for the use of different spatial referenceframe that depend on the task requested and can vary significantly from one individual to another. These results are to be taken into account when one seeks to generalize to the real world the results of studies carried out thanks to the virtual reality

Texto completoDunand, Stéphane. "La réalité des couleurs". Thesis, Aix-Marseille 1, 2011. http://www.theses.fr/2011AIX10119.
Texto completoThis work tries to defend an objectivist theory of colour by a reconciliation of two theses generally considered as incompatible: physicalism, the theory that colours are scientific properties of objects, and revelation, the thesis that the nature of a colour is revealed by an experience of this colour. Those theses are considered as incompatible because colours are presented as qualities, while science is only about quantities. After a chapter about the history of the problem, showing how we can understand the modern controversy on secondary qualities thanks to the revelation thesis, I show how to understand revelation, distinguishing it from phenomenology, and claim that a correct theory of colour must support revelation. After that, I argue that colours are transitory events, not standing properties: light produce colours, which are effects of the interaction of light with matter or, for primary light sources, events happening in them. This thesis gives a partial answer to some arguments against objectivism, notably variability arguments. Above all, this new categorization of colour reconciles the qualitative chromatic descriptions of colours with their quantitative physical descriptions, thus allowing reconciliation between the manifest and the scientific images of the world
