The article applies Robert Humphrey’s analysis of the narrative mode of stream of consciousness to William Faulkner’s novels The Sound and the Fury and Absalom, Absalom! It discusses Faulkner’s uses of different types of stream of consciousness and his presumed purposes behind the employment this narrative mode. Unlike some other modernist writers, who treated stream of consciousness as a literary experiment, Faulkner developed it into a complex narrative mode.

Resumen
SummaryThis paper aims at investigating the determinants of self- employment within a structural model of discrete choice under uncertainty. The basic idea of our approach centres around Knight's (1921) famous view of entrepreneurs receiving risk-adjusted income that has to exceed the income of employees because of the greater variance of the income stream. Unlike previous econometric approaches, which use reduced form specifications that are more or less based on ad-hoc reasoning, we derive a choice equation of which the parameters have a clear interpretation in terms of the parameters of the underlying von Neumann-Morgenstern utility function. The specification allows to identify how the difference in income risk between wage-employment and self- employment enters the choice equation without approximating the risk difference via a reduced form specification. The model is estimated using a random effects panel probit estimator with unrestricted autocorrelation structure. Estimates are based on a balanced panel of 1,926 working men selected from the West German Socio-Economic Panel 1984 to 1989.

Resumen
Using the census survival method to calculate net flows across employment states between 1900 and 1910, we find that approximately one-fifth of all men who reached the age of 55 eventually retired before death. Many of these retirees appear to have planned their withdrawal from paid employment by accumulating assets, becoming self-employed, and then liquidating their assets to provide a stream of income to finance consumption in old age. This “modern” retirement behavior has important implications for the economic history of capital and labor markets, of saving and investment, of insurance and pensions, and of the family economy.

Resumen
The significance of college students' graduation diversion is to effectively adjust the talent structure and improve the efficiency of social resource allocation. In this paper, firstly, through text mining, the diversion direction is divided into three parts, namely, taking Postgraduate Entrance Examination, get postgraduate recommendation and employment, and python is used to crawl the relevant comments on microblogging about graduation diversion. Then, the crawled text is applied the jieba library to split words. Then, the LDA topic model was applied to model the participle results, and a total of 11, 21 and 23 numbers were obtained for employment, postgraduate recommendation and Postgraduate Entrance Examination respectively. From the results of the model, it can be seen that college students choose to take Postgraduate Entrance Examination in the current graduation stream, and the number of getting postgraduate recommendation and employment is small. This suggests that the government should intervene in the employment environment, and it also suggests that college students should multitask simultaneously.

Resumen
In terms of dependence on livelihoods and employment, the state of Jammu and Kashmir can be considered as agrarian, hence the overwhelming majority of the people live in rural areas. There are many reasons that have led to a dwindling share of GDP of the sector at a time when it should have retained its role given large proportion of people depending on it. These include: Reduction in public expenditure in the sector after reforms, decrease in agricultural land due to conversion, lack of appropriate irrigation facilities, and acute lack of infrastructure, lack of quality pesticides, occasional flooding, and lack of research. This imbalance between production and employment has resulted into compromised socio-economic profile of the state which includes: Low per capita income, compromised Food security, large Capital outflow, and Low employment. Therefore, in a bid to arrest any further deterioration in its socioeconomic profile, it is imperative for the state to initiate a stream of measures that will enhance the productivity in the sector and safeguard it from undue competition from abroad.

Resumen
Interest has focused on quantifying the size and scope of environmental markets, particularly those that offset ecosystem impacts or restore natural infrastructure to improve habitat or promote clean air and water. In this paper, we focus on the US wetland and stream compensatory mitigation market, asking: what types of firms make up the mitigation “industry”? What are the economic impacts–i.e., the “size”–of the mitigation industry? How has this industry changed over time? We present the results of a national survey of mitigation firms and construct an input-output model of the industry’s economic impacts and employment. We also develop a comparative, 2014 model of the industry using data from a previous study of the broader, ecological restoration economy. Our findings suggest that the (2019, pre-COVID) mitigation industry collects annual revenues (direct economic impacts) in excess of $3.5 billion, which, along with additional indirect (supply chain) and induced (spillover) economic impacts, combine to over $9.6 billion in total output and support over 53,000 total jobs. We estimate 2014–2019 growth of ~35.2 percent in revenues, ~32.6 percent in total economic impacts, and a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 5.25%. This places the mitigation industry within the range of other, well-established industries within the technical services sector. We suggest establishing North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) codes specifically for ecological restoration and mitigation firms, an essential step in generating accurate and consistent employment estimates in the future, particularly at sub-national geographic scales.

Resumen
This study aims to examine the impact of Institutional quality, Employment, and trade openness on the environment (CO2 emission in metric tonnes) for the period between 2002 and 2021, using data from the top ten CO2-producing nations (China, United States, India, Russia, Japan, Germany, Iran, South Korea, Saudi Arabia, and Indonesia). We employ the panel-based Auto Regressive Distributive Lags (ARDL) model that includes a unit root test to examine the stationarity properties of the data. The findings shows that the Employment and Trade openness are at level of first difference and other Institutional Quality was on level which shows the mixed stream results. The long run equation regressors indicated that the environment (CO2) has been affected due to all other predictors trade openness, employment labor and institutional quality. After finding substantial cointegration, the long-term and short-term ARDL coefficients for the models are estimated. The model has negative and statistically significant lagged Error Correction Term indicating an extremely stable long-run link between attributes. In long run & short run the panel ARDL results shows that Institutional Quality has the significant impact on CO2 emissions as and when institutional quality improves CO2 emission diminishes and the other variables Employment and Trade openness has significant impact on CO2 environment. The results are more important for policy makers in setting up policies to protect environment.

Resumen
Every Graduate Student dreams for a job with good salary once he receives Engineering and/or Management degree. But many of the graduates are not able to get an employment and those students who are getting the jobs they are being paid with less salary even after investing a lakh of money on their higher education. The general reason found behind this situation is a gap between what skills the industry/employers are expecting and what the skills graduate students are having with them. Today’s Employers are looking for those candidates who are possessing wide range of Knowledge and Skills apart of conventional Degree. The present research paper discusses about the issues, concerns related to the Employability of Engineering and Management graduates. Paper also suggests some remedial actions to resolve the employment problems of the same students and promote the concept of Entrepreneurship where students will become ‘Job giver’ than ‘Job seeker’. Keywords: Employability skills, Engineering and MBA Graduates, Job market, Professional World.

Resumen
The purpose of the article is to develop the required and sufficient conditions under which numerical methods can be used for engineering calculations and for scientific research of hydrodynamic processes in solving practical problems related to predicting the spread of pollutants in water bodies and streams. The conducted studies consisted in comparing the results of laboratory experiments and mathematical modelling, in particular the distribution of heat in a stream with different temperature in water layers was studied. To check the adequacy of the proposed numerical models, calculations were performed and comparisons were made with the results of experimental data. The obtained results allowed to determine the boundaries of the qualitative difference in the flow behaviour for different numbers of Froude and Reynolds. The accuracy of the method was also studied. A number of additional requirements for numerical models were proposed in addition to approcsimation and stability, such as requirements of conservativeness (divergence), existence of trivial solutions on grids, possibility to calculate highly unsteady, quasi-stable, pulsating and stationary flows, requirement of invariance of linearized equations, as well as the requirement of a one-dimensional scheme to be a consequence of a two-dimensional scheme. Distribution of velocities of wind currents using a three-dimensional and two-dimensional model was studied for a real object. A shallow-water bay of the Aral Sea was chosen as the object for the research. Comparison of the calculation results for both models showed that the flow velocity fields, as well as the distribution of pollutants in shallow waters, can be performed using a two-dimensional model.

Resumen
This study endeavors to answer the research question; how self-employment at Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) level is related to poverty in the developing countries. During these efforts, we used the narrative literature review, methodology, to study related research stream in this domain to develop a better understanding of the phenomenon. Moreover, in the process Peter Ducker and Noel’s theory of entrepreneurship and Israel Kirzner’s theory of entrepreneurship reviewed to develop theoretical foundations of our research. In this research, we come to the observation that self-employment at SMEs level, somehow helps in fighting poverty in the developing countries. In addition, interestingly Information and Communication Technology (ICT) role has been significant in the developing countries from the context of gig economy, where the firms might not be found in yellow pages, but yet they are part of the economic system against poverty (Subrahmany, 2005).

The paper delves into the ocean of reality and thought as they exist in coordination as well as paradox in Virginia Woolf’s one of its kind novel Mrs. Dalloway. It also aspire to understand the deeper reasons that lead to Virginia writing such characters which seems far apart in their experience but are uniquely similar when seen from the lens of thought. Virginia’s personal life effected the characters consciousness, and their reactions to certain situations also find root in her own life. The concept of stream of consciousness was not new in the twentieth century but its employment was certainly unique in Mrs Dalloway, which made it popular among the public in general. It endeavour to understand the characters of Clarissa and Septimus in relation with Virginia’s interpretation of “stream of consciousness”, and the depiction of reality as driven by Virginia’s life and thought process.

Migration is an objective process in Russia as worldwide. It has always existed and played an important role in human history. The problem of migrant workers is acute in Russia, because it borders on 18 countries. The collapse of the USSR severely damaged the economy of many former socialist republics. Consequently, people who cannot find employment in their country are forced to migrate to Russia to earn money. Most migrant workers face social, economic and psychological problems. Often, lack of social skills adds more problems to their everyday life difficulties. These things cause stress reactions and slow down their adaptation process. On the other hand, one of the most difficult things for migrants is negative attitudes they encounter as newcomers. People around often associate migrants with illegal work, crime and terrorism. On a regular basis, media report about crimes committed by migrants.

This paper considers the extent to which assessment of ballet technique within higher education can be congruent with the expectations of professional practice while at the same time acknowledging self-actualisation and regulation through experiences of assessment. Assuming that the study of any discipline within higher education should prepare individuals for employment within a professional stream, this paper questions how expectations of ballet technique within higher education align with expectations of the dance profession. Further, the paper examines how objective measures that underline accountability and transparency in assessment practices align with aesthetic variables such as interpretation, presentation, and artistic sensibility.

Resumen
Adult education is instruction intended for students who are elder and have recently gone into employment. People have the opportunity to increase their expertise and develop new abilities by learning as adult students. Investigation into adult education has been ongoing for a while, and there have been efforts made all around the globe to increase its application. The study's objectives were to investigate the features of the courses provided by education centers (EC), determine if they promote equality, and determine any organizational obstacles to adult education that were connected to these courses. Through the training courses they provide, ECs attempt to satisfy the educational requirements of people and industries in a variety of subjects. As a result, this research suggested a Multi-Source Stream Analysis (MSSA) Model for Adult Education Sustainability Study. The adult education sessions were the source of the information for this investigation. The adult education provided by ECs was evaluated by several criteria, including technical knowledge, communication skill, art and music, customs management, and self confidence. The research demonstrates that adult education enhances educational achievement and other professional abilities and makes adults more capable of realizing their full capability.

This article reports on qualitative Australian research that was conducted with 32 workers from Job Services Australia and Emergency Relief agencies. Researchers investigated the operationalisation of assistance for unemployed people to illuminate the language, discourse and processes through which workers and unemployed people were constructed within the quasi-market culture. Findings included individualistic and behaviourist frames, paradoxical positions in relation to client choice and blame, and a metaphorical frame which reinforced position, status and difference. This study provides important evidence from the frontline of Australia’s deregulated employment services, adding to the growing body of international social work literature pertaining to neoliberal welfare reform.

Resumen
Services sector has emerged as the largest and fastest-growing sector in the world economy in the last two decades, providing more than 60 per cent of global output and, in many countries, an even larger share of employment. Not only has the services sector grown in terms of its share in global output and employment, its share in total trade has also grown rapidly in this period. The growing importance of services sector and the corresponding rise in its role in integrating the world economy has led to a stream of literature that examines different aspects of trade in services. This paper undertakes a selective review of both theoretical as well as empirical studies on trade in services. It identifies some of the conceptual issues in this area, e.g., whether theories of trade are relevant for services; what are the important barriers to trade in services; and how are these barriers measured. The main objective of the paper is to provide policy insights and future areas of research in trade in services.

Resumen
Purpose - We investigate how firms transfer financial risks to employees in a form of flexible employment contracts and layoffs. Design/methodology/approach - Based on the literature on the prevalence of shareholder value ideology and the associated ‘risk shift’, we examined how stock price volatility is associated with a firm’s use and hiring of nonstandard employees, and the number of employees lay-offed. We test our hypotheses using a longitudinal, multi-source, dataset of Korean firms from 2003 to 2011. Findings - We found support for the relationship between stock price volatility and flexible employment contracts and layoffs after controlling for actual risks such as increased debt or decreased sales. However, we found that the relationship is moderated by the power of professional CEOs relative to that of shareholders, in that powerful CEOs are more likely to transfer the external risks, i.e. stock price volatility, to employees. Research implications or Originality - This study contributes the emerging stream of literature that explore the effect of stock market pressures and governance structures on human resource management.

The year 2008 was a busy one for matters relating to women, work and industrial relations. The Labor Government introduced the Fair Work Bill with a new bargaining stream for low paid workers and new National Employment Standards, which include the right to request flexible working arrangements and extended unpaid parental leave. A number of public inquires on issues pertaining to women and work were also initiated. In this first annual review of women, work and industrial relations we focus on three topics highlighted in 2008 — pay equity, working hours flexibility and paid maternity leave — and assess the implications of the proposed policy changes for women and gender equity.

Resumen
Teenagers who drop out of mainstream education face risks of unemployment and social exclusion. In Sri Lanka, many students who fail to qualify for further studies at the GCE O/L examination consequently dropout from school education. The 13 Years of Guaranteed Education Programme (13YGEP) is a vocational subject stream introduced to the school curriculum in 2017 providing a new pathway for the students who fail GCE O/L to learn vocational subjects at school. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the short-term impact of the new vocational programme on employment potential and income of the youngsters. Primary data were collected from a sample of 200 participants living in Kandy district. Data analysis was performed using Chi-Square tests of independence and graphical methods. The results suggest that the vocational programme does not have a statistically significant impact on early employment potential. However, 15 percent of the teenagers who acquired vocational education have perused self-employment, an outstanding progress which none of the school dropouts in the sample could achieve. The students who left school and perused employment early earn more compared to those who studied vocational subjects, indicating that work experience contributes to higher early-career income. While the students who completed the programme appreciate the benefits, those who left school do not regret the forgone opportunity. The results highlight the importance of facilitating and supporting those who complete the programme to start new businesses. This is the first ever empirical assessment of the impact of the 13YGEP which is specifically targeted at GCE O/L dropouts in Sri Lanka. The long-term outcomes of the programme should be further studied in larger scale to evaluate its effectiveness.

Resumen
The study aimed at investigating the benefits or otherwise of National Internship Programme of Pakistan as perceived by the graduates of Gomal University, Dera Ismail Khan. Another area of investigation was to ascertain the impact of discontinuation of the Programme. The findings of this research indicated that National Internship Programme has been successful in terms of providing professional knowledge, hands on experience, financial support, exposure to the main stream job market as well as employment opportunities to the internees. The Program changed the perception of the students’ altogether, which were now beginning to appreciate all the possible benefits resulting from the programme. The discontinuation of the National Internship programme has been seen as a step that will not only put a stop to all the benefits that were being derived by the internees but it will also be a contributing factor towards lack of professional development, less financial independence and increased levels of un-employment for the fresh graduates. The study strongly recommends allocating additional resources to fund similar internship programs, improving program flexibility and further encouraging student participation. Resumen
Advancing a nascent stream of research linking grit to employment retention, this article investigated how job insecurity interacted with a person’s level of grit to predict turnover intentions and career change intentions of hotel managers. Based on a confirmatory factor analysis, grit was found to be a valid higher order construct that had an effect on turnover and career change intentions, and the effect was moderated by feelings of job insecurity. Specifically, when hotel managers reported less job insecurity, grit did not have a significant association with turnover and career change intentions. However, when job insecurity levels increased, hotel managers who were grittier also reported lower levels of turnover and career change intentions.

Resumen
ObjectiveThis study investigated the association between changing working conditions and exit from paid employment during the following year among older workers with a chronic disease in the Netherlands.MethodFour annual waves from the Study on Transitions in Employment, Ability and Motivation (STREAM; 2010–2013) provided information on working conditions and demographics for 2838 older workers with a chronic disease, aged 45–64 years. The analytical sample consisted of 5491 responses from 2838 workers. Five types of working conditions were investigated; physical workload, psychological job demands, job autonomy, emotional job demands and social support. Discrete-time survival models were used to estimate the associations of change in working conditions in a particular year on the probability of exiting paid work for persons with a chronic disease in the following year.ResultsOf the 2838 workers, a small majority was male (52%), most workers had an intermediate level of education (39.7%), and the mean age was 53.7 years (SD 5.50). Results showed that working conditions substantially changed (i.e. difference of one standard deviation) between two waves. Social support and emotional job demands had the highest amounts of substantial changes (17% and 19%), while physical demands remained relatively stable (6% substantial change). After the first two waves, about 12% of workers with a chronic illness left paid employment. Results of discrete-time survival models are expected to be available in 2019 (by the time of the EPICOH conference).ConclusionEnsuring that working conditions can be adapted to the needs of older workers who have a chronic disease may help to extend working life.

Resumen
This paper addresses a long-running debate in the economics literature—the debate over Adam Smith’s theory of money and banking—and argues that recent reinterpretations of Smith’s monetary theory have erroneously diverted historians of monetary thought from the correct, but briefly articulated, initial interpretations of Henry Thornton (1802) and Jacob Viner (1937). Smith did not present either the real-bills theory or a price-specie-flow theory of banknote regulation, as is now generally presumed, but rather a reflux theory based upon the premise that the demand for money is fixed at a particular nominal quantity. Smith’s theory denies that an excess supply of money can ordinarily make it into the domestic nominal income stream or influence prices or employment.

ObjectivesThis study assessed the associations of (1) within-individual improvements and (2) within-individual deteriorations in working conditions, health behaviour and body mass index (BMI) with changes in work ability and self-rated health among workers.DesignProspective cohort study.SettingThe Netherlands.ParticipantsPersons in paid employment, aged 45–64 years, who participated in the Dutch Study on Transitions in Employment, Ability and Motivation (STREAM) between 2010 and 2017, and improved or deteriorated at least once with respect to working conditions (psychological and emotional job demands, autonomy, social support, physical workload), health behaviour (moderate and vigorous physical activity, smoking status), or BMI between any of two consecutive measurements during the 7-year follow-up.Primary and secondary outcome measuresChanges in self-reported work ability on a scale from 0 to 10 (1st item of the work ability index) and self-rated health on a scale from 1 to 5 (SF-12).ResultsOf the 21 856 STREAM participants, ultimately 14 159 workers were included in the fixed effects analyses on improvements (N=14 045) and deteriorations (N=14 066). Workers with deteriorated working conditions decreased in work ability (β’s: −0.21 (95% CI: −0.25 to −0.18) to −0.28 (95% CI: −0.33 to −0.24)) and health (β’s: −0.07 (95% CI: −0.09 to −0.06) to −0.10 (95% CI: −0.12 to −0.08)), whereas improvements were to a lesser extent associated with increased work ability (β’s: 0.06 (95% CI: 0.02 to 0.09) to 0.11 (95% CI: 0.06 to 0.16)) and health (β’s: 0.02 (95% CI: 0.00 to 0.03) to 0.04 (95% CI: 0.02 to 0.06)). Workers with increased BMI or decreased physical activity reduced in work ability and health. Likewise, decreased BMI or increased vigorous physical activity was associated with improved health. An increase in moderate or vigorous physical activity was modestly associated with a reduced work ability. Quitting smoking was associated with reduced work ability and health.ConclusionsCompared with improvements, preventing deteriorations in working conditions, health behaviour and BMI, might be more beneficial for work ability and workers’ health.

Resumen
As time passes on, machines are becoming more and more complex, fast-processing and intelligent. Being exactly like humans deducting, inferring and making decisions is still away, however some remarkable gains in the application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) techniques and machine learning have been recently recorded. Therefore, the current study seeks to examine strategies for effectively applying artificial intelligence (AI) applications to teach/learn English according to the university students’ point of view. The study adopts the analytical descriptive approach in order to study and analyze the literature, to describe AI and the strategies of its employment for teaching/learning English. A 40-item questionnaire was used. It covers the following fields: AI strategies and its suitable applications for teaching/learning English, the effectiveness of these applications, their practical use, and the requirements for using them in the fields of teaching/learning English. Measuring the validity and reliability of the questionnaire revealed a Cronbach’s alpha of 0.931. The study sample consisted of 44 randomly selected male students from the English language stream at Northern Border University. A set of study instruments was applied. The results revealed a group of strategies suitable for employing AI for teaching/learning English. The results also indicated a very low level of employment of these strategies for teaching/learning English, and pointed out to their effectiveness if used in this field. The study has identified the training requirements from the study sample’s point of view. A suggested plan has been envisioned that includes the basics, objectives, content, processors, and evaluation methods for the employment of AI applications in the field of English education.

Resumen
Macroinvertebrates are readily available at the undergraduate level and provide an indicator of stream quality. DNA barcoding is the use of a sequence comparison of a specific region of the DNA that allows for classification of the organism. In most undergraduate courses, the discussion of genetic identification and stream quality assessment remain separated concepts. However, joining these lectures into a three-part laboratory learning module could bridge this gap and prepare students for a real-world application. During the first week of the proposed activity, students perform taxonomic identification. The following week, they perform a DNA isolation. In the last week, they use polymerase chain reaction and electrophoresis, possibly with a lecture examining a barcode for an example of the final outcome. In our research, we have determined effective methods that will allow all three sections to be completed in three three-hour undergraduate lab sessions, with minor modifications. Furthermore, the data we collected showed 54% efficiency. The methods we outline introduce new techniques and skills that prepare students for next-level education or employment and attempt to integrate ecological or environmental analysis with genetic analysis and DNA extraction techniques, making this lab series worth exploring at the undergraduate level.

Resumen
Recently, redox flow deionization (RFD) has gained great interest in water desalination as a promising electrochemical ion separation process. The RFD system advances the redox flow battery by adapting intervening channels for the water stream. As a unique cell feature, the system is comprised of multi-channels allowing the independent control of the flow streams (e.g., water stream and redox flows). This leads to several advantages compared to the conventional electrochemical ion separation processes such as capacitive deionization and electrodialysis: (1) sustainable redox reaction enables low operational cell voltage and high diversity in the employment of electrode materials, (2) the mild reaction environments allow less byproduct production and less variation in pH as this system facilitating downstream processes, and (3) the stored energy at redox couples provides energy recovery process with a simultaneous ion separation leading to high energy efficiency in water desalination. In line with the development of RFD, this presentation aims to introduce the basic principle of the RFD system and recent progress, including cell architecture, electrodes, operations, and scale-up strategy. In addition, various applications are addressed such as resource recovery and pollutant control. Finally, we briefly propose the practical challenges and opportunities for future research direction.

Resumen
Abstract Abstract 1103 Introduction: Recombinant fusion of a single molecule of either FVIII or FIX to the Fc domain of IgG1 (rFVIIIFc or rFIXFc, respectively) has been shown to decrease clearance compared to rFIX or rFVIII in an FcRn-dependent manner (Blood (2010) 115: 2057; Blood (2012) 119:3024). The long-lasting procoagulant activity of these two molecules relies on a natural pathway in somatic (endothelial) and hematopoietic (monocyte) cells that recirculate antibodies into the blood stream. In hemophilia A subjects, rFVIIIFc has demonstrated ∼1.6-fold longer half-life compared to recombinant full length FVIII (Advate®) (Blood (2012) 119:3031), while rFIXFc shows a ∼3-fold longer half-life than that reported for current rFIX products (Blood (2012) 119:666). In the current study we determined the biodistribution of rFVIIIFc in hemophilia A (HemA) mice and sought to identify the cell types and tissues that contribute to FcRn-mediated protection and recycling of rFVIIIFc or rFIXFc. Methods: The pharmacokinetics of rFVIIIFc or rFIXFc were compared to IgG1 in bone marrow chimeric mice of wild-type and FcRn-KO mice. The plasma FVIII activity was determined using a chromogenic assay, and the decay of antigen levels of rFIXFc or IgG1 in plasma post dosing was determined by ELISA. The biodistribution of iodinated rFVIIIFc in HemA mice was evaluated by Quantitative Whole Body Autoradiography (QWBA). Results: We have shown that the rFVIIIFc half-life is ∼2-fold longer in wild type mice than in FcRn-KO mice. However, bone marrow transplantation of FcRn-expressing hematopoietic cells into FcRn-deficient mice did not substantially increase the half-life of rFVIIIFc. Also, bone marrow transplantation of FcRn-deficient cells into wild-type mice did not decrease the half-life of rFVIIIFc, suggesting a substantional role of somatic FcRn. In contrast, while rFIXFc has a ∼3 fold longer half-life in FcRn wild-type mice than in knockout mice, both FcRn-deficient mice receiving wild-type bone marrow, as well as wild-type mice receiving FcRn-deficient bone marrow, displayed clearance levels of rFIXFc intermediate to that of wild-type and FcRn-KO mice. These studies suggest that rFVIIIFc is recycled via FcRn predominantly in somatic cells, while rFIXFc, similar to IgG1, is recycled approximately equally in both FcRn-expressing hematopoietic and somatic cells. Furthermore, QWBA using 125I-labelled rFVIIIFc in HemA mice show extensive localization of rFVIIIFc in the liver, suggesting that somatic cells in the liver may mediate rFVIIIFc recycling through Fc – FcRn interaction. In summary, these data suggest that similar to IgG1, rFVIIIFc and rFIXFc are recycled in both somatic and hematopoietic FcRn-expressing cells. However, the relative contributions of the various cell types are dependent on the particular Fc-fusion protein, suggesting additional regulation at the level of protein-specific interactions for cellular uptake. Characterization of the cell-type specific recycling pathways for rFVIIIFc and rFIXFc is in progress to support further delineation of the mechanism of action for these two novel therapeutics currently in registrational trials for treatment of severe Hemophilia A and B, respectively. Resumen
As a population group with income and/or expenditure that is alarmingly close to the poverty line, the position of transient poor can be very unstable. They are in a constant vulnerability of falling under the poverty line with every critical situation that arises, which are affected by disasters, social conflicts, termination of employment, and/or changes in public policy especially in the economic sector. Up to 2015, poverty alleviation programs in Indonesia is divided into four clusters: social protection, community empowerment, small scale credit, and pro-poor supported program. Strangely, there is not a single clause in any of the four clusters that elaborates the policy schemes that addressed to the transient poor. The research is aimed to triangulate the position of transient poor groups in the poverty alleviation policy framework. Additionally, this research is also aimed to clarify the agenda-setting process in the formulation of poverty alleviation policy that neglects the transient poverty issues mitigation. The methodology used in this research is descriptive qualitative. Two major findings can be derived as the conclusions from the research. Firstly, the position of transient poor population is not included in the poverty alleviation policy scheme. The existing policy alleviation scheme does not accommodate the needs and tailored approach to cater to transient poor population. Secondly, the oversight to catering to transient poor population starts even from the agenda-setting in policy formulation processes. This is seen from the fact that transient poverty issues are not exposed to the problem stream, policy stream, and political stream that utilizes policy window to discuss transient poor issues throughout the agenda-setting.

Resumen
All major post-Worldwar political conflicts that made up the face of Belgian polities, were accompagnied by massive protests and intensive demonstration waves. Analysis of newspapers coverage and of the gendarmerie archives confirms this for the nineties. The 1990-1997 period is marked by an increasing number of demonstrations and demonstrators. The disappearance of the ideological and cultural-linguistical actions was, on the one hand, made up for by the further rising of other issues (environmental, anti-racist, judicial, .. .), and on the other hand by the near institutionalisation of very classic issues like education or employment, who both secured their place on the street. There is no ground to call the 1990's dull, on the contrary: the number of demonstrations grew steadily and, especially in Flanders, Inglehart's Silent Revolution of Postmaterialist values took to the streets. The wider acceptance of demonstrations as a means of actions, the growing political alienation, and the greater openness of the political system are presented as plausible explanations.

Resumen
The present research is a stylistic attempt to study the unified sides of stream of consciousness and interior monologue in selected extracts from Faulkner's and Ginsberg’s: Absalom, Absalom! and “Howl”. Its relevance is to the sophisticated techniques that help unify the two sides in the works. These techniques are linguistic techniques, narrative techniques and metaleptic ones. The purpose of this study is to analyze them in Faulkner's and Ginsberg’s Absalom, Absalom and “Howl”. The problematic case of the two aforementioned works lies in the reader’s involvement in resolving their ambiguity. Their rigorous style drives the reader into an involvement in understanding its ambiguity. Hence, the significance of the study lies in its being the first attempt at analysing this problematic style. The study concludes that the three techniques point out the hidden dark side of the American life through the employment of ambiguous problematic style

This study retrospectively examines the emergence and development of a new class of full-time non-tenure track employees in a large land grant research university in the U.S., which created the employment category in 1980. We employ cultural-historical activity theory (CHAT) to explore how this class of employees became institutionalized within the university organizational structure and within the university’s consultative and decision-making processes. The study advances the understanding of how broad academic personnel strategies emerge in higher education. Given that there are few longitudinal studies examining the way personnel strategies are made in higher education, we hope that this paper will provide a useful frame of reference for developing research on institutions of higher education as work environments. By utilizing CHAT in a higher education setting, our inquiry also contributes an alternative perspective to the stream of research on organizational change in higher education.

Resumen
This paper discusses the status quo of tourism and policy development regarding the Jiuqu Stream in China from different stakeholder perspectives. By combining field investigations, questionnaires, and statistical examinations of collected data, 812 samples were analyzed using multivariate analysis. The results indicate that increased visibility, employment opportunities, and real estate values in the scenic areas along the river will attract residents to return for future development, while public safety and conservation policies, featured architecture and tourism signage planning, increased cost of living, and waste and pollution will cause disincentives. Visitors will be attracted by the natural and ecological features, transportation planning, unique local culture, and events. Recreational facilities and architectural planning, merchandise lacking characteristics, tourist consumer expenditure, smoke and pollution from motor vehicles, and how it feels to interact with residents will influence the desire to visit the place. Development of an area should consider the different needs of every stakeholder in terms of recreational facilities, local infrastructure, expenditure and income, public safety and health, waste disposal, ecology and environmental conservation, tourism, and the quality of life.

Resumen
This study is intended to evaluate, analyze and give recommendations for prudently utilizing gas production to maximize regional economic developments. A method to relate sectors and inter-regions, i.e., Inter-regional Input-Output (IRIO) Model, is employed to predict the impact of the upstream potential on the down stream. This techno-economic study examines the allocated gas from three gas field blocks altogether at Maluku and West Papua Provinces, i.e., Tangguh, Masela, and Kasuri, to supply the demands of (1) power plants; (2) fertilizer industries, and (3) petrochemicals industries. This study identifies development processes, investment parameters from pre-construction to operation, implementation parameters, and output parameters, both for the upstream and downstream sectors during 2016-2035. The IRIO model uses the 2010 IRIO Table published by BAPPENAS which consists of 35 sectors and 35 provinces. The shock data used to estimate the economic impacts include those data on infrastructure (CAPEX, OPEX, and supporting facilities), energy consumption (per kWh, per ton fertilizer, and per petrochemical product), workforce, and investments at a particular time. Six simulation modeling scenarios were developed to forecast the future performance of Gross Domestic Product (GDP)/Regional Gross Domestic Products (GRDP), Community Income, and Employment of 4 provinces in Eastern Indonesia. The results indicate that the regional economy could grow significantly by providing electricity first. Hence, the Petrochemical Industry gives more contribution than the Fertilizer Industry. The contribution (compared to BAU condition) increases sharply before taking a peak period and then declines in the year 2025. The best scenario results in a rise of the regional GDP at about 19 percent, wages at about 20 percent, and employment at about 55 percent. Maluku Province deserves the most economic improvement followed by West Papua Province. North Maluku and Papua provinces are not as well-off as those two provinces although there has been an indication of some employment in North Maluku Province. Resumen
The life of consumer electrical and electronic (E&E) devices is relatively short, and decreasing as a result of rapid changes in equipment features and capabilities. This creates a large waste stream of obsolete E&E equipment. Even though there are conventional disposal methods for E&E waste, these methods have disadvantages from both economic and environmental viewpoints. This paper examines the existing recycling situations and collection methods of E&E waste in India and Switzerland. Questionnaire survey, interview discussions and case studies are conducted. Their E&E waste scenario and technologies applied for E&E waste are investigated. It is found that India performs better in E&E intensity per service unit and employment potentials, while Switzerland performs better in occupational hazards and emissions of toxics. Recommendations to improve the existing E&E waste recycling situations and its implications to green building are also given.

Resumen
Corporate innovation continues to be the subject of a stream of articles in the business press as well as the focus of international conferences. Several recent articles in FORTUNE and BusinessWeek have identified innovative companies on a national and international basis. Using a technique labeled "Data Surface Mining" (DSM), previously published data on corporate innovation were further analyzed to characterize the similarities and differences between the Goods and Service Sectors; the results of these analysis are presented herein. In addition, the issues of technology management especially relevant to the Service Sector are presented. These issues are of critical importance in light of the fact that the Service Sector represents 80% (GDP and/or employment) of the United States economy and are of increasing importance in the global economy. It is also important to note that technology management in the Service Sector has not to date been given proportionate attention in the academic literature.

Resumen
With the success of Lu Xianren’s catwalk at Paris Fashion week, the group of small-town youths he represents has gained national attention. The popularity of mobile phones and the internet has driven the development of new media platforms in the information age. Small-town youth established a series of entrepreneurial initiatives through live stream, pushing the economic development of local villages and towns, which was driven and supported by the Chinese government, its policies, and companies. The paper investigates how small-town youth converted their employment problem during the pandemic and accomplished a comeback in new media platforms by analyzing cases of successful entrepreneurship on social media platforms and analyzing a large number of literature. This paper may provide inspiration to youth groups that are unstable and bewildered because of the pandemic, giving them hope and motivation for the future. At the same time, it will ideally stimulate the economic growth of cities below the third tier for the community.

Resumen
This paper proposes a variant of the recently reported pool mining approach and provides a reduction in the energy that is consumed by the blockchain consensus protocol. The novelty of the proposed architecture lies in the employment of an innovative cryptographic puzzle that is based on stream ciphering. This enables flexibility in setting the difficulty parameter of the protocol, and allows for the separation of the energy and memory resources that are required for the puzzle solving. The proposed approach provides high resistance against the following malicious activities of miners in public blockchain systems: (i) the submission of fake work and fictitious computation results; and (ii) some well-known attacks that target the blockchain incentive mechanism. We experimentally evaluate the power consumption of the proposed consensus protocol and compare it with the traditional proof-of-work protocol based on hashing. The obtained results point out the gain that the proposed pool mining provides compared with the traditional types.
