Texto completoThe present study intends to propose an original reinterpretation of Nomellini's painting, based on a critical path centered on the iconographies of work. This analysis is chronologically limited to the first phase of his activity: from the Florentine beginnings, around 1886, to the participations in the Venice Biennale in the 1907 and 1909 editions. Thus we intend to define an ideal catalog of works dedicated to the theme of work capable of retrace and clarify that aesthetic-ideological evolution already highlighted by Ragghianti, which had led several artists initially inspired by humanitarian social ideals, first towards an "idealist signification" of a D'Annunzian character and then adherence to a nationalist and "imaginative mythography ". A development that in Nomellini's case starts from paintings that portray the peasants of the Maremma according to a humanitarian social perspective and with a style still poised between naturalism and the representation of a new sense of light, and which finds a provisional point of arrival in the Genoese canvases of declared social criticism, made with the pointillist technique. If Nomellini's symbolist turning point also entails the disappearance of the theme of work from his painting, the iconography of work reappears again in Nomellini's production of the first decade of the twentieth century, transfigured, however, by a new ideological perspective aimed at a nationalist mythization of the world of work and workers and faced with a mature divisionism.

Texto completoThe aim of this research is to make a connection between art and lifelong learning. The first goal of the study was to underline the specific features of adult's learning to identify which should be considered as crucial in the artistic heritage pedagogy. The second goal was to study an approach to the artwork that fitted the requirements of adult's learning. The first chapter is dedicated to consider: 1. the essential characteristics of adult's learning to be considered in the process of planning activities and 2. the most widespread pedagogic theories in American museums, and how they influence European works. The second chapter tries to describe an alternative to the constructivistic model of the museum, focusing on the concept of person that arise from the realistic philosophy. The third chapter is formed by two parts: in the first it is described a period of participant observation at the Guggenheim Museum, the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Museum of Modern Art of New York. During that period, I identified an activity that formed the methodological basis for the practical activity I realized at the Museo dell'Ottocento of Milan. This activity is described in the second part of the chapter. The results of the groundwork confirmed the high quality of the methodology and encourage further studies.

Texto completoThis thesis project was born from the will to investigate the relationship between the photographic medium and the notion of new obscenity, theorized and disseminated in Jean Baudrillard’s writings. This notion - in the acceptation proposed by the French philosopher, that is the obscenity of the visible, of the too visible, of the most visible of the visible - well suits to describe the concepts of transparency and visibility peculiar to the current society, constantly engaged in baring herself through social media in the name of the so-called post-privacy ideology. By encouraging a continuous violation of the sphere of secrecy, this ideology would in fact favor the progressive reduction of the gap between what can be made publicly available and what, traditionally, should have belonged to the private sphere. A general trend of culture, the one just outlined, which has imposed itself with the new millennium, accelerated by the birth of the World Wide Web, of which photography manages to become promoter as well as supreme interpreter, contributing - also thanks to an innovative technological condition - to the fulfillment of total visibility and transparency. During the discussion, the "updated" notion of obscene will be used as a heuristic tool for tracing the parallel development of photographic practice in the fields of visual arts, fashion and social media, starting from early nineties to today. A tool through which to connect reference authors, reread some others and candidate new ones among those, widening the "field of photography" theorized by Pierre Bourdieu, desecrate the threshold of the private sector and bring to the spotlight the banal and ordinary implications of everyday life, up to those intimate, tragic, disturbing or even nefarious, promoting the realization of that "brothel without walls" which according to Marshall McLuhan is the world in the photographic age.

Texto completoThe new forms of online communication and the constant connectivity influence the way the body is perceived and represented with its limits and its new extensions; even the perception and expression of feelings are conditioned by new online social practices. The individual converts their subjectivity into the “User”, the top level of the representation of the digitized society in which we live in as a “Stack”: a set of data that the system of “computational sovereignty” (Bratton, 2016) can trace and profile. At the same time, the User does not abdicate their identity, represented by the German philosopher Peter Sloterdijk as a “bubble”, and whose appearance mutates and changes rapidly following the frenetic and accelerated rhythms typical of these last twenty years. The practice of online representation integrates and contrasts the person-to-User transformation and artists, as skilled observers of the online environment, interpret and rework this change, providing new insights, new artistic languages and new aesthetics.
