Resumen
Publication of British Museum EA 941, a Late Period or early Ptolemaic royal statue in travertine whose model is the Early Dynastic statue of Djoser (Cairo JE 49158) from the serdab on the north side of his Step Pyramid, or another statue of the same type. We present the British Museum statue, compare it with the Djoser statue, and argue for the former's likely dating and Saqqara provenance. Both statues are significant for their iconography of divine kingship and mortuary transfiguration.

Resumen
A gilt-bronze statue of a standing bodhisattva was discovered at the Sŏllimwŏn Temple site. The statue is notable as its halo and pedestal were found intact at the time of discovery, and the bodhisattva figure itself is almost perfectly preserved. There are only a few instances of gilt-bronze statues from the Unified Silla kingdom that can be definitively linked to the site of their original placement. Sŏllimwŏn was physically distant from the royal palace, but its status as a central temple of the Sŏn School 禪宗 and the activities of pre-eminent monks in the ninth century made it important enough to become the site for a splendid gilt-bronze bodhisattva statue. Based on physical, stylistic, and scientific evidence, the statue dates to the latter half of the ninth century and has ties to the Buddhist monk Master Honggak 弘覺禪師. A unique example of a gilt-bronze sculpture, the Sŏllimwŏn bodhisattva is a valuable part of Buddhist material culture in Korea.

Resumen
Objectives We aimed to describe the epidemiology of statue attacks along with statue representativeness relative to modern day demographics in one case study country: New Zealand. Methods We performed Internet searches for the existence of outdoor statues of named individuals and historical attacks in New Zealand (NZ), combined a national survey with field visits to all identified statues to examine for injuries and repairs. Results Of the 123 statues identified, nearly a quarter (n = 28, 23%) had been attacked at least once (total of 45 separate attack events), with the number of attacks increasing from the 1990s. Attacks involved paint/graffiti (14% of all statues at least once), nose removal/damage (7%), decapitation (5%), and total destruction (2%). The risk of attack was relatively higher for statues of royalty (50%), military personnel (33%), explorers (29%), and politicians (25%), compared to other reasons for fame (eg, 0% for sports players). Statue subjects involved in colonialism or direct harm to Māori (Indigenous population), had 6.61 (95%CI: 2.30 to 19.9) greater odds (adjusted odds ratio) of being attacked than other subjects. Most of the statue subjects were of men (87%) and Europeans (93%). Other ethnicities were 6% Māori (comprising 15% of the population) and 1% each for Asian and Pacific peoples, who comprise 12% and 7% of the population respectively. Conclusions This national survey found an association between statue attacks and the role of statue subjects in colonialism or direct harm to the Indigenous population. Furthermore, the demography of the statue subjects may represent historical and current social power relationships—with under-representation of women and non-European ethnic groups.

Resumen
The Animated Statue. An Intermedial Analysis of Statue Ekphraseis in Picture Books This article examines the animation of statues in three Scandinavian picture books: Göran och draken (2002) by Ulf Stark and Anna Höglund, Hva skal vi gøre med lille Jill? (1976) by Fam Ekman and Malte möter Ängel en majkväll på Millesgården (2001) by Maria Hellstadius Wiberg and Karin Södergren. The transformation of humans from organic to inorganic matter is part of an abundant mythopoeia, which calls for a closer examination of the statue motif in children’s literature. This article examines the statue motif, aiming to shed light on the animated statue that children’s books with its dual audience can address. The modern western picturebook, with its strong affinity to the visual arts, is especially pertinent to this area of inquiry. This article employs an intermedial perspective in order to clarify how the animation of statues differs from that of toys. In contrast to a toy, a statue is a representation and therefore an index for something absent or alienated. The statue is a transformation, more precisely an ekphrasis (Bruhn 2000). This study therefore utilizes the differential model of Robillard (2010), designed to mark different medial relations between the ekphrasis and the plastic object, in order to uncover particular relations and the way in which they suggest associations to statue-ekphrasis. This analysis shows that animation is an artistic device relying on intermedial connections to depict conditions of mix-up, confusion, metamorphosis and reverie. The concept of a magic space is also addressed. On one hand, animation suggests art’s imaginative ability to enrich and breathe life into representations. On the other hand, statue-ekphrasis that brings forth the Verfremdungseffekt illustrates and raises awareness of the complex relation between fiction and nonfiction, life and death.

Resumen
Alice Lieder, the wife of the Revd J. R. T. Lieder, visited Memphis, and made squeezes of the inscriptions on thirteen statues lying there, in May 1853. Most of the sculptures had been found by Hekekyan in 1852. They included a fragment of a statue of Ramesses III, and one of a colossus of Ramesses VI, a statue of the vizier Paser, a statue of Khaemwese, and a standard-bearing statue of Ramesses II. The previous identifications of the last as Ramesses VI or VII are disputed. The discovery of several statues dated to the reign of Psammetichus I near the Abû'l-ḥôl colossus suggests the presence of an early Saite gateway in the area of the Ramessid southern entrance to the temple of Ptah, and thus corresponds to the accounts of building activities of Psammetichus I by Herodotus and Diodorus.

Resumen
In a large excavation, located in the proximity of the White Mosque, a residential building datedto the Fatimid period was uncovered. The layout and the small finds of this spacious building attest to the wealth of its inhabitants. One special find was a shabti figurine found in a receptionroom. The figurine is evidence of robbery and trade in funerary items from Ancient Egypt.
