Resumen
We study optimal monetary stabilization policy in a DSGE model with microfounded money demand. A search externality creates “congestion,” which causes aggregate output to be inefficient. Because of the informational frictions that give rise to money, households are unable to insure themselves perfectly against aggregate shocks. This gives rise to a welfare-improving role for monetary policy that works by adjusting the nominal interest rate in response to these shocks. Optimal policy is determined by choosing a set of state-contingent nominal interest rates to maximize the expected lifetime utility of the agents subject to the constraints of being an equilibrium.

Resumen
Road works and other civil works involve large amounts of materials and earth movements that could be minimized with the best use of material from the construction site itself, through the process of improving the soil obtained from the union with materials able to add resistance. This is because, when the soil is loaded, it tends to deform and this disturbance alters the load flow of the structure, modifying the effort value achieved in the project. For these reasons, the objective of this work was to analyze the mechanical resistance of materials applied in the improvement and stabilization of soils. Therefore, knowing the lineage of this theme, this study was developed with the intention of identifying, in the literature, consistent treatments that favor the inheritance of soil resistance. This is an integrative review carried out on scientific data sources: Scientific Electronic Online Library (SciELO) and Google Scholar. Searches for studies were carried out from August to December 2022. The descriptors selected to search for data were: road works, soil improvement and soil stabilization. The inclusion criteria for the selection of scientific articles were: articles published from 2001 to 2017, in Portuguese; monographs, theses, dissertations, available and complete articles. Exclusion criteria were: publications of repeated articles in databases. To implement soil stabilization, many issues need to be persistent, in the study one of them was that the cement presents stable performance in soil stabilization, reaching SSI rates above 80% for base according to DNIT. As well as the alternative materials, they present the values for application in base and subgrade, with the superior capacity of 2% of ISC for the subgrade when applied with sludge ash and lime reaching the guidelines for use in the base.

Resumen
Abstract In order to solve the problem of aerial photography imaging blur, an aerial camera optical image stabilization system is designed. Based on the principle of optical image stabilization, a forward image stabilization system of aerial camera was designed by analyzing the imaging blur of aerial camera. The equivalent resolution of the system is 500-1000 l p/mm, and the corresponding pixel size is 1-2 μm. Aiming at the optical image stabilization system to establish its PID and corresponding adaptive PID control model, establish its closed-loop system transfer function, and use MATLAB to simulate and analyze the control system. The results show that the whole image stabilization system becomes stable after 0.01s and can achieve the goal of image stabilization. It solves the problem of forward image motion of aerial camera, and greatly improves the imaging effect of aerial camera when it works.

Resumen
Soft marine clay soil is characterized with highly compressible behavior, in which associated with poor bearing capacity and low in shear resistance. Soil improvement works are carried out to reduce the soil failure and destruction to the superstructure. Various techniques available for soil stabilization including the use of admixture to improve the engineering properties of the problematic soil. This paper aims to report on the use of waste steel dust retrieved from the medication supply industry as soil stabilization agent. Several series of Atterberg limit test and Unconfined Compressive Test were carried out to foresee the potential use of the waste steel dust for the purpose of civil engineering applications. The significant findings from this study is evident that the waste steel dust ranges from 5% to 15% did not able to serve as soil stabilization agent. It can reduce the plastic behavior of the soil sample; however, it also caused the strength of the soil declined. In comparison with previous studies, the presence of activated agent could possibly enhance the performance of waste steel dust as an alternative treatment agent to soil improvement works. The use of activated agent is to serve as pozzolanic materials to create cementitious bonding in between the soil interparticles matrix.

Resumen
Chemical stabilization involves the use of chemical agents for initiating reactions within the soil for modification of its geotechnical properties. Cement and lime stabilization have been the most common stabilization methods adopted for soil treatment. Cement stabilization results in good compressive strengths and is preferred for cohesionless to moderately cohesive soil but loses effectiveness when the soil is highly plastic. Lime stabilization is the most preferred method for plastic clays; however, it proves to be ineffective in sulphate rich clays and performs poorly under extreme conditions. With such drawbacks, lots of researches have been undertaken to address the issues faced with each stabilization method, in particular, the use of solid wastes for soil stabilization. Solid waste reuse has gained high momentum for achieving sustainable waste management in recent times. Research has shown that the use of solid wastes as additives with and replacement for conventional stabilizers has resulted in better results than the performance of either individually. This review provides insight into some of the works done by earlier researchers on lime/cement stabilization with industrial wastes as additives and helps to form a sound platform for further research on industrial wastes as additives to conventional stabilizers.

Resumen
Post-financial crisis recoveries tend to be slow and accompanied by slowdowns in total factor productivity (TFP) and permanent losses in GDP. To prevent them, how should monetary policy be conducted? We address this issue by developing a model with endogenous TFP growth in which an adverse financial shock can induce a slow recovery. In the model, a welfare-maximizing monetary policy rule features a strong response to output, and the welfare gain from output stabilization is much larger than when TFP expands exogenously. Moreover, inflation stabilization results in a sizable welfare loss, while nominal GDP stabilization works well, albeit causing high interest rate volatility. (JEL E12, E23, E32, E43, E44, E52, G01)

Abstract This study suggests a new algorithm based on a combination of fuzzy logic and genetic algorithm (GA) to improve voltage profile in a microgrid. The considered microgrid includes control variables such as onload tap changer (OLTC), active power output from distributed generators (DG) and reactive power output from feeder switched capacitors that are controlled in a microgrid controller (MGC) by communication links. The proposed method was used to obtain the optimum value of control variables to establish voltage stabilization in varying load condition as online. For establishing voltage stabilization at the microgrid, an objective function is defined and is tried to minimize it by control variables. The control variables were changed based on fuzzy logic and the GA was employed for finding the optimum shape of membership functions. In order to verify the proposed method, a 34 buses microgrid in varying load condition was analyzed and was compared with previous works.

Resumen
The settlement of the American West was directly dependent on the extraction of resources including minerals, precious metals, timber, and the commerce that resulted. The infrastructure that developed around these extraction activities was intended to be merely functional, and therefore temporary. Readily available forest resources made timber structures relatively inexpensive and easy to build; they could be put into service quickly and were adequate to immediate needs. Many of these structures survive today at former mining and milling sites, along with remnants of the railroad lines that served them. Together they provide a compelling picture of the development of the American West and the technologies used to extract, refine, and transport the materials that initiated settlement of the region. Preservation of these sites and structures poses many interesting problems: Most of the structures were designed to meet short-term needs and have already outlasted their intended service life; Most of the structures were strictly utilitarian, and maintenance of them was discontinued when mining or logging operations ceased; Exposure of these structures to severe weather conditions is typical. The structures are at remote sites and access is extremely limited; Many of the structures are dangerous due to the extent of deterioration and proximity to open mines, adits, and industrial waste. In this presentation, the authors will use three case studies to illustrate preservation issues common to remote resource extraction sites, techniques used to access the timber structures, and some of the stabilization strategies implemented at each of the sites. The case studies include the aerial tramway of the Keane Wonder Mine in Death Valley National Park, the Cable Mountain Draw Works in Zion National Park, and the Hanging Flume in Colorado.

Resumen
Soil Stabilization is the alteration of soils to enhance their physical properties. Stabilization can increase the shear strength of a soil and/or control the shrink-swell properties of a soil, thus improving the load bearing capacity of a sub-grade to support pavements and foundations. The Engineering Properties of soil are depended on the many points like minerals, water table, soil water behaviour etc. which vary as per area to area. Due to which we can’t get desire properties suitable to our needs of construction. To resolve this problem, we have technique called stabilization which means to stable or to modify or to improve the soil properties in positive manner. So, we can have a construction works which fulfil our needs and objective.

Resumen
Lake Saint-François is a relatively shallow fluvial lake of the St. Lawrence River with numerous deep channels. This complex system has been considerably altered from its pristine state 150 years ago. Currently, the water level is stabilized and the flow is regulated; important areas have been dredged and the major part of its outflow is diverted through the Beauharnois canal. The evolution of water levels shows a trend towards stabilization as required for ship traffic in the St. Lawrence Seaway and for hydropower production. With the construction of the Moses-Saunders dam in 1960, the flow of the river could be regulated; changes occur in the seasonal pattern of the flow. Ancient stage-discharge relationships were recreated to describe the impact of the 1849 damming and of the present level stabilization. Stabilization of the water level has favored the growth of submerged plants. Manning's friction coefficient was used to show that plant biomass has doubled since 1920; the onset of biomass increases corresponds to a water level stabilization event. The distribution of wetlands in the Lake Saint-François area was drastically modified by the water level rise caused by the 1849 damming. New wetlands were created and pre-1849 wetlands, located on what are currently shoals in the central part of the lake, have totally disappeared.Key words: Lake Saint-François, St. Lawrence River, impact of civil works, flow discharge regulation, water level regulation, wetland flooding cycle, submerged macrophyte, ecosystem reaction, civil work history.

Resumen
G-quadruplexes have raised considerable interest during the past years for the development of therapies against cancer. These noncanonical structures of DNA may be found in telomeres and/or oncogene promoters, and it has been observed that the stabilization of such G-quadruplexes may disturb tumor cell growth. Nevertheless, the mechanisms leading to folding and stabilization of these G-quadruplexes are still not well established, and they are the focus of much current work in this field. In seminal works, stabilization was observed to be produced by cations. However, subsequent studies showed that different kinds of small molecules, from planar and nonplanar organic molecules to square-planar and octahedral metal complexes, may also lead to the stabilization of G-quadruplexes. Thus, the comprehension and rationalization of the interaction of these small molecules with G-quadruplexes are also important topics of current interest in medical applications. To shed light on the questions arising from the literature on the formation of G-quadruplexes, their stabilization, and their interaction with small molecules, synergies between experimental studies and computational works are needed. In this review, we mainly focus on in silico approaches and provide a broad compilation of different leading studies carried out to date by different computational methods. We divide these methods into twomain categories: ( a) classical methods, which allow for long-timescale molecular dynamics simulations and the corresponding analysis of dynamical information, and ( b) quantum methods (semiempirical, quantum mechanics/molecular mechanics, and density functional theory methods), which allow for the explicit simulation of the electronic structure of the system but, in general, are not capable of being used in long-timescale molecular dynamics simulations and, therefore, give a more static picture of the relevant processes.

Resumen
Purpose The purpose of this paper is to investigate a novel stabilization scheme to handle convection and pressure oscillation in the process of solving incompressible laminar flows by finite element method (FEM). Design/methodology/approach The semi-implicit stabilization scheme, characteristic-based polynomial pressure projection (CBP3) consists of the Characteristic-Galerkin method and polynomial pressure projection. Theoretically, the proposed scheme works for any type of element using equal-order approximation for velocity and pressure. In this work, linear 3-node triangular and 4-node tetrahedral elements are the focus, which are the simplest but most difficult elements for pressure stabilizations. Findings The present paper proposes a new scheme, which can stabilize FEM solution for flows of both low and relatively high Reynolds numbers. And the influence of stabilization parameters of the CBP3 scheme has also been investigated. Research limitations/implications The research in this work is limited to the laminar incompressible flow. Practical implications The verification and validation of the CBP3 scheme are conducted by several 2 D and 3 D numerical examples. The scheme could be used to deal with more practical fluid problems. Social implications The application of scheme to study complex hemodynamics of patient-specific abdominal aortic aneurysm is also presented, which demonstrates its potential to solve bio-flows. Originality/value The paper simulated 2 D and 3 D numerical examples with superior results compared to existing results and experiments. The novel CBP3 scheme is verified to be very effective in handling convection and pressure oscillation.

Resumen
ABSTRACT The aim of this study was to evaluate the results of landslide remediation in the Polish Carpathians. The research for safeguarding the roads and infrastructure was conducted in the years 2005–2018 in nine landslide areas. The interpretation of engineering geology conditions was complex due to the soil-rock nature of the flysch sediment. Movements were activated after heavy rainfalls. In two cases, triggers were connected with the undercutting of the slope or external loading. The research methods included mapping, drilling, index, oedometer, direct shear tests, ground-penetrating radar scanning, and numerical modeling. To date, 15–59 series of inclinometer and piezometer network readings in 30 locations have been taken. Three online stations have been delivering continuous, nearly real-time data since May 2010. Displacements before the remediation ranged from a few millimeters to several centimeters. The proposed remediation methods included piles, micropiles, anchors, retaining walls, and drainage systems. Six stabilization projects were prepared and checked using the limit equilibrium method and finite element method modeling. The research shows that in five landslide areas, the proposed remedial works were effective. Two other partial stabilization works limited the scope of the movements but did not eliminate the risk. At two locations, only temporary repairs were conducted. Proper identification of the landslide triggers and activity is standard for the recognition of counteraction possibilities and could lower stabilization costs. The selected methods delivered data for remedial decisions. However, effective remediation of an active Carpathian landslide is difficult. It requires individually calibrated investigations, representative monitoring, and careful design of stabilization.

Resumen
This article addresses a position and attitude stabilization control scheme for a class of multi-vectored airship with parameter uncertainty and input saturation considered. Airship parameters such as the inertia matrix and aerodynamic coefficients are hard to measure due to the uneven gas distribution and unforeseen shape changing. The propellers airships use often have saturation issues. These phenomena are unavoidable. To meet these challenges, we propose two adaptive sliding mode control methods. Both achieve airship position and attitude stabilization without the prior knowledge of the inertia matrix or aerodynamic coefficients. The second algorithm also takes input saturation into consideration. Simulations illustrate the effectiveness of our scheme. Compared with former works, our method achieves position, attitude, velocity and angular velocity stabilization with inertia matrix uncertainty, aerodynamic coefficient uncertainty, and input saturation.

There has been a number of works trying to improve thermal stability of PVC as it is one of the most widely used plastics for various applications. The incorporation of heat stabilizer is a general method to stabilize PVC. However, its thermal stability could also be improved by blending with polyethylene. Organoclay, montmorillonite (MMT) in particular, has been found to improve thermal stability of polymers due to its high temperature resistance. This research is aimed to use organic modified MMT (OMMT) to improve thermal property of PVC. It was found from the research that organic grafted MMT (O-g-MMT) could improve thermal stability of PVC better than OMMT. The mechanical properties of O-g-MMT/PVC and OMMT/PVC of the blends were also reported

Resumen
The paper deals with the treatment and reuse of submarine sediments, i.e. a relevant environmental issue due to the annual huge quantities of dredged sediments (over half contaminated) in Europe. In a vision of sustainability and circular economy, stabilization and solidification (S/S) treatments represent an interesting solution for both environmental protection and reuse of sediments in engineering works. The investigation involved polluted clayey sediments taken up to depths of about 1.5m from the seafloor of the Gulf of Taranto (South of Italy). The research investigates the effects of a treatment with cement and lime enhanced by the addition of green additives, such as active carbon and biochar, for chemical remediation. The last one is a promising and cheap adsorbent material, that is the by-product of - mainly - agricultural waste pyrolysis. The first results suggest that appropriate mix designs and curing times could allow the reuse of sediments by both improving their geotechnical characteristics and making them environmentally acceptable in accordance to end-of-waste criteria.

The new stabilization term combines properly scaled normal derivatives at the surface together with control of the jump in the normal derivatives across faces, and provides control of the variation of the finite element solution on the active three-dimensional elements that intersect the surface. We show that the condition number of the stiffness matrix is $O(h^{-2})$, where $h$ is the mesh parameter. The stabilization term works for linear as well as for higher-order elements and the derivation of its stabilizing properties is quite straightforward, which we illustrate by discussing the extension of the analysis to general $n$-dimensional smooth manifolds embedded in ${\mathbb{R}}^d$, with codimension $d-n$. We also state the properties of a general stabilization term that are sufficient to prove optimal scaling of the condition number and optimal error estimates in energy- and $L^2$-norm. We finally present numerical studies confirming our theoretical results.

Resumen
An exponential stabilization result is proved for a doubly nonlinear distributed delays system of ordinary differential equations. The problem involves non-Lipschitz continuous distributed delays of non-Lipschitz continuous ”activation” functions. This extends similar previous works where the distributed delays as well as the activation functions were assumed to be Lipschitz continuous.

Resumen
This paper investigates robust simultaneous stabilization (RSS) control method for two port-controlled Hamiltonian (PCH) systems and proposes results on the design of simultaneous stabilization controller with parameters for such systems. Firstly, two PCH systems are studied. Using the dissipative Hamiltonian structural properties, the systems are combined to generate an augmented PCH system. When there are external disturbances in the systems, a robust controller with parameters is designed for the systems. Secondly, an algorithm for solving parameters of the controller is proposed with symbolic computation. Finally, an illustrative example is presented to show that the RSS controller obtained in this paper works very well.

Resumen
A significant amount of phosphatic waste and phosphatic overburden soils are stockpiled in the Al-Rusaifa area of Jordan. Research was completed on stabilizing this waste by mixing it with limy ash that was produced by the direct combustion of bituminous limestone. Doing so minimizes the environmental impact of the huge amount of phosphatic waste, and produces a product that can be used in various construction projects like earth works, pavement works, production of masonry blocks and curbstones. A variety of laboratory tests were completed to determine the suitability of the stabilized waste for these different uses. The S2 ash was produced by the direct combustion of bituminous limestone at 950 °C while the S3 ash was produced at 525 °C. Tests showed that the unconfined compressive strength of the parent phosphatic waste was raised from 1.5 kg/cm2 to 28.8 kg/cm2 for the S2 and to 22.4 kg/cm2 for the S3 ash treated samples. The new results were obtained despite a decrease in the maximum dry density to 1.47 g/cm3 when compared to 1.89 g/cm3 of the original untreated phosphatic waste. The soaked California bearing ratio was raised from 2.4% to 120%. The tests confirmed the suitability of the stabilized waste for a variety of construction applications.

Resumen
Currently, the effectiveness of treatment is assessed by Response Evaluation Criteria In Solid Tumors (RECIST) criteria. The stabilization of the disease is the one of the results of the treatment. This term means a slight growth or regression of the tumor without the appearance of new lesions, when it is impossible to assign these changes neither to the progression of the disease nor to partial regression, but in any case stabilization of disease is evaluated as ineffective treatment. But the stabilization of the disease often leads to the improvement of the quality of life, slowdown in the growth of the tumor and metastasis and thereby to the win in terms of life expectancy. The purpose of the study. A study of the concept of ‘stabilization of the disease ’ as a criterion that determines the control of tumor growth. Methods. There was performed an analysis of various scientific works on the study of the efficiency of the treatment of solid tumors: ovarian cancer, small-cell lung cancer (SCLC), non small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC), colon cancer, prostate cancer, breast cancer. Conclusion. Stabilization of the disease is an important criterion for the evaluation of the antitumor treatment in patients and has the important prognostic value.

Resumen
This paper investigates the stabilization of a class of chaotic systems. On the basis of triangular system, chaotic systems which have triangular structure, can be converted into such structure and can be converted into such structure partly by appropriate coordinate transformations are considered. Different with the previous works, triangular system studied in this work has simpler structure and more applications. Moreover, back-stepping technique is used to obtain the stabilization controllers which are single controllers without judging which state component should be stabilized. It should be emphasized that the triangular structure studied in this paper is feasible not only for the stabilization of chaotic systems but for the other control problems of chaotic systems and other physical models as long as the system satisfies one of the above three cases. Several examples are selected to verify the correctness and effectiveness of the obtained results.

Abstract Performing any measurement on watercraft is connected with many additional difficulties caused by the sea-environment. The most important is the problem of spatial stabilization of measurement systems, which are usually fastened to craft body. As soon as usually these measurement are executed during the move of the craft additional question is the accuracy of execution the planed trajectory. This is a problem for all investigators, especially when system use spatially configured beams of any antennas or other sensors, regardless is it receiving or transmitting one. Different aspects of these question are the subject of research activity of Institute of Navigation and Maritime Hydrography of Polish Naval Academy. Resumen
It is an important practical design problem for control system design of quadrotor helicopters with accurately actuator modeling, which is not mentioned in many previous works. In order to improve the performance of attitude stabilization control system, a new strategy is proposed in this paper. This control strategy is based on the accurately nonlinear modeling of the brushless motors using the Hammerstein series models. Furthermore the identification method to obtain such models from observed input-output data is presented. After models of four brushless motor are obtained, a backstepping attitude controller is designed to stabilize the quadrotor helicopter. Flight experiments show that the proposed control strategy can achieve higher performance than past ones.

Resumen
Practical systems in engineering fields often require that values of state variables, during the finite-time interval, must not exceed a certain value when the initial values of state are given. This leads us to investigate the finite-time stability and stabilization of a linear system with a constant time-delay. Sufficient conditions to guarantee the finite-time stability and stabilization are derived by using a new form of Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional and a desired state-feedback controller. These conditions are in the form of LMIs and inequalities. Two numerical examples are given to show the effectiveness of the proposed criteria. Results show that our proposed criteria are less conservative than previous works in terms of versatility of minimum bounds and larger bounds of time-delay.

Resumen
Indonesia downfall as represented in the economic crisis is due to the inability of the government to restore the pre-crisis level of investment in 1997. This could happen although the government has enforced Law No. 1 of 1967 Jo No 11 of 1970 on Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) and Law No. 6 Years 1968 Jo No 12 Year 1978 on Domestic Investment (DCI). This study attempts to reveal whether the investment is quite effective in accelerating investment through the stabilization of money. This is very important because the stabilization of money can raise investments, which finally affect greatly the condition of the state economy. The data were collected from 1970 to 2012. Econometric model is employed for testing the hypotheses because it can handle the mutual dependence (interdependence). Besides that, econometric model is an invaluable tool for understanding the way the economic system works and so to test and evaluate policy alternatives. Hypothesis is tested using multiple regressions with Two Stages Least Square method. The result shows that the stabilization of money could accelerate the investment by looking at the intermediate indicators on the exchange rate. However, it cannot be seen through the indicators of inflation.

Resumen
Abstract OBJECTIVE: Subsidence is a naturally occurring process that is observed during aging and after spine surgery. Rigid cervical spine instrumentation is excellent for stabilizing the spine. These devices, however, also retard subsidence after surgery. Thus, the implant carries much of the axial load, rather than sharing the axial load with the bone graft. This results in an increased incidence of construct failures, pseudoarthrosis, or both, which often occur late in the postoperative course. METHODS: In contrast, dynamic implants allow normal (natural) subsidence to occur, while effectively stabilizing the spine by preventing translation, rotation, and angular deformation. Load sharing, which works with, instead of against, the normal biology of bone healing, occurs with axially dynamic implants, resulting in more robust and earlier fusions. RESULTS: Diminished incidences of construct failures have been reported with dynamic implants. CONCLUSION: Dynamic implants seem to be the system of choice for ventral cervical stabilization in selected patients.

Abstract The sliding mode control has the property of control independence from the characteristics of the unchangeable part of the automatic stabilization system (ASS). In the article, this mode is proposed to be applied to ASS to stabilize the horizontal working plane using two hydraulic cylinders. A model of this ASS has been developed. The paper synthesizes a sliding control law for ASS and simulates ASS operation on MATLAB-SIMULINK. The simulation results indicate that ASS is a stable system and works quite efficiently.

Effective methods of protection of various engineering facilities located in the conditions of the Karakum desert by the methods of phytomeliorative works have been determined. Long-term studies conducted by the National Institute of Deserts, Flora and Fauna of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environmental Protection of Turkmenistan prove that the use of phytomeliorative methods has the greatest effect on the stabilization of moving and technogenic sands. In addition, the restoration of native vegetation leads to an increase in the resilience of desert ecosystems and an increase in arid biodiversity. These methods of phytomelioration are used only in combination to stabilize moving sands, regardless of the regional characteristics of the Karakum Desert.

Resumen
We address the problem of picking up, stabilizing, and transporting casualties in response to mass-injury disasters. Our proposed methodology establishes the itinerary for collecting, on-site stabilization, and transporting victims considering capacitated vehicles and medical care centers. Unlike previous works, we minimize the time required to achieve on-site stabilization of each victim according to his age and level of severity of the injuries for their subsequent transfer to specialized medical centers. Thus, more critical patients will be the first to be stabilized, maximizing their chances of survival. In our methodology, the victims’ age, the injuries’ severity level, and their deterioration over time are considered critical factors in prioritizing care for each victim. We tested our approach using simulated earthquake scenarios in the city of Iquique, Chile, with multiple injuries. The results show that explicitly considering the on-site stabilization of the vital functions of the prioritized victims as an objective, before their transfer to a specialized medical center, allows treating and stabilizing patients earlier than with traditional objectives.

Resumen
This paper outlines a methodology to study the stability of Takagi-Sugeno's (TS) fuzzy models. The stability analysis of the TS model is performed using a quadratic Liapunov candidate function. This paper proposes a relaxation of Tanaka's stability condition: unlike related works, the equations to be solved are not Liapunov equations for each rule matrix, but a convex combination of them. The coefficients of this sums depend on the membership functions. This method is applied to the design of continuous controllers for the TS model. Three different control structures are investigated, among which the Parallel Distributed Compensation (PDC). An application to the inverted pendulum is proposed here.

Resumen
This paper investigates the exponential stabilization of delayed chaotic memristive neural networks (MNNs) via aperiodically intermittent control. The issue is proposed for two reasons: (1) The control signal may not always exist in practical applications; (2) How to enlarge the maximum allowable failure interval (MAFI) for sensors is a challenging problem. To surmount these difficulties, an index called the largest proportion of the rest width (LPRW) in the control period is proposed to measure the MAFI in the sense of guaranteeing the closed-loop system performance with the least control cost. Then, by constructing suitable Lyapunov functional in combination with interval matrix method and Halanay inequality, a stabilization criterion is established to determine the relationship between the feedback gain and the LPRW. Meanwhile, an algorithm is proposed to qualitatively analyze the relationship between the feedback gain and the LPRW. In contrast with the previous works, our results can increase the value of LPRW while still maintaining the stability of the closed-loop MNNs. Finally, some comparisons of simulation results demonstrate that the obtained stabilization criterion has some advantages over the existing ones.

The main objective of this study is to investigate the mechanical properties of dredged sediments, which are considered as waste from the process of removing sediments from the bottom of a dam's reservoir. The dredged sediments with stabilization can to be reused as construction and building materials in civil engineering works. The mechanical tests included unconfined compressive strength (UCS) and splitting tensile strength (STS) to understand the behavior of the dredged sediments stabilized with ordinary portland cement (OPC) type I and fly ash (FA). The overall test results indicated that OPC type I and FA were effective in stabilizing the sampled dredged sediments from two dams in northern Thailand. The stabilization with 10% FA content was found to be most effective for improving mechanical properties of the stabilized samples.

AOD slag samples from steel works of Outokumpu Stainless Company were used to study F-dissolution relating to treatments for volume stabilization. Results from the slag tests and sample characterizations indicate that the slag re-melting with or without reduction and granulation with either water or gas have rather small effects on F leaching, as well as formation of different C2S polymorphs. The chemical composition and cooling condition are the two important parameters to control F leaching from slag samples. These two parameters should be combined together in an optimum way by the steel industry to treat slags for F-immobilization.

Resumen
The mining waste dump has emerged as a result of lignite extraction from Ruget quarry. The waste dump should have 6 steps with a total height of 90 m (as designed), but, at present, only 5 steps have been constructed (in different stages of execution) due to cessation of the activity. Since the stability analysis showed a high degree of instability for some steps there are needed specific redesigning works (slope angle reduction, terraces, levelling etc.) as well as hydrotechnical works (central and side collector drains and collector tubes at the base of the dump). At present, no properly designed works to eliminate the risk of landslide (not even consolidation) and no ecological rehabilitation projects are in progress. Thus, in this paper there are proposed and designed stabilization works (by reshaping, construction of rock support walls at the base of the dump etc.), as well as recultivation with specific plants, which aim at eliminating the geotechnical risks in the area and the reintegration of the dump in the surrounding landscape.

Quotations and references, taken from old texts on stream channel works (today classified as belonging to soil bioengineering interventions), are presented and discussed. Part I of the same study previously showed a similar analysis on slope stabilization [Bresci 2002]. The selected quotations are reported in a chronologic order to highlight the historical evolution in each work description and, in particular, the instructions and adjustments to put on when carried out. Where suggestions for vegetation material selection and numerical indications are found in the analyzed texts, they have been reported translated into English. The selection of the analyzed works has been carried out among those utilized for streambank protection, a sector where more often vegetation is utilized. Also in this case (Part II) it is demonstrated that bioengineering techniques clearly originate from forest watershed management.
