Tixeuil, Sébastien. "Auto-stabilisation Efficace". Phd thesis, Université Paris Sud - Paris XI, 2000. http://tel.archives-ouvertes.fr/tel-00124843.

Texto completoDistributed systems have two main characteristics: they are complex and subject to failures. So, the verification and the study of fault tolerance in such systems are two major issues. In this thesis, we propose a model-checking verification technique for distributed systems. We present and prove an algorithm, based on partial orders, which builds a small subset of the whole set of states of a distributed system. In the reduced generated graph, it is still possible to verify stable properties of the considered system. We then study self-stabilizing systems which are fault tolerant distributed systems. Self-stabilizing systems are systems which, from any initialization, eventually behaves correctly, regarding to their specifications. The drawback of such systems is that they cannot determine whether or not they verify their specifications. In this thesis we propose a new model, in which the system can decide if it verifies its specification by introducing a new abstraction called observer. With this model, we prove that if there exists a synchronous self-stabilizing distributed solution for some problem in a distinguished network, then there exists a synchronous self-stabilizing distributed solution for the same problem in the same network which accept an observer. Finally, we introduce the notion of a probabilistic observer and we prove that such an observer allows to decide for a larger class of self-stabilizing systems than deterministic observers

Texto completoThe purpose of this work is to identify the conditions requisite for the successful operation and survival of a monetary union. The fiscal instrument being the only one available for the purpose of stabilization, it is fiscal conditions which we must consier. The theoretical foundations and the practical possibility of a shock-absorber mechanism are explored here, that is to say a fiscal transfer scheme between states in the framework of the emu in order that the member states should be able to cope with transitory, asymmetric shocks which represent the main therat to its existence. Econometrics of panel data makes possible the highilighting of the various characteristics of such a system of fiscal federalism and stabilization in existing monetary unions, like that of the USA thus we may examine the components necessary for the creation of a specifically European device of this kind and the fact that its necessity for a successful monetary union is not as yet proven. The implied assumption that such inter-regional stabilisers are still more powerful within unitary states does not appear empirically confirmed, however such a system would seem helpful in ensuring the stability of a monetary union in its initial period

Texto completoThe direct foreign investment contract raises, in practice, a long series of very complex legal problems. A Complexity that is particularly accentuated when a foreign investment concerns natural resources, and especially petrol, which remains to this day the most valuable resource for global socio-economic development. This complexity around the petroleum investment contracts can be explained by two main factors. The first factor concerns the differences and even contradictory nature of the contracting parties as well as of their rights stemming from the contract itself. The second factor touching the elements of risk surrounding the petroleum industry as well as its affect on petroleum investment contracts which interrupts their execution. While an investigation into the stability, security and continuity of the petroleum investment contracts requires work decided into two different steps. The first is an interrogation in order to identify the rights and obligations of the two contracting parties "host State and private investor", In view of national and international law. It is also a question of classifying and identifying the legal nature of the petroleum contract as well as the nature and sources of the laws that govern its relation. While the second step focuses on an analysis of the legislative and contractual solutions as well as their applications by international law, national law and the doctrine, in order to perceive a more secure and lasting stability

Texto completoThis thesis focuses on three problems in the context of the stabilization of wave equations. We consider different frameworks and we use techniques based on the multipliers method. First, we study the stability of the wave equation with non-linear localized damping in a standard Hilbertian framework in two dimensions. The proof is based on the work already existing in the case of a non-localized damping. We add a localization as well as disturbances. We prove the exponential stability of strong solutions in the absence of disturbances and also a weak Input-To-State stability property with respect to the considered disturbances. We next consider a more general functional framework, namely an L^p framework with p in (1,infty). We study the L^p stability of the wave equation with a linear and localized damping in one dimension since it is not always possible to define the wave operator in higher dimensions when p = 2. We prove the exponential stability of the problem by generalizing the multipliers of the Hilbertian framework in this new general framework, with a different proof for 1 2. We also prove in the same problem but with particular cases of a global constant damping, an exponential stability in the case p=1 and p=infty. We consider next the nonlinear case of the previous problem: relying on a linearizing technique, we reduce that study to that of the linear problem case in order to prove the exponential stability of the non-linear problem

Texto completoThe first step of this thesis was a study about the existing models in the literature, improving some aspects of the most relevant ones. Our next contribution was studying the problem of power angle and line impedance expressions. These two variables are not avaible for measurement, but for a non-linear approach, this information is crucial. We have solved this problem by developing a technique to express the line impedance and the power angle as functions of measurable variables. This is fundamental to develop our control scheme, and finally make feasible many of the non-linear controllers presented in literature. Another contribution is the presentation of a linear adaptative controller based on modern techniques. This first approach was desired to be easily applicable and realistic, it was then done using more physical insights. Our next result is the study of the effect of stabilizing the output voltage error. Being the "main" output of the generator, it is quite logical to consider the regulation of its error as a main goal. .

Texto completoIn this thesis, we propose a study of several problems of control and stabilization depending on a parameter. Our study applies in particular to discrete conservative systems, where the parameter coincides with the mesh size. In this case, a singular behavior of the controllability issues has been observed, even in the very simple case of the 1d wave equation. Thus, we propose to present precisely these singular phenomena, which allows us to design remedies to avoid these singular behaviors. In particular, we design efficient numerical methods to compute good approximations of the exact controls of the continuous equations. Moreover, similar problems appear when discretizing exponentially stable damped systems. Indeed, in this case, it may happen that the solutions of the discrete equations do not decay exponentially uniformly with respect to the discretization parameters. We thus propose numerical methods in which a numerical viscosity term has been added in the system, for which we can prove uniform stabilization properties. Our approach is mainly based on spectral techniques. We use in a crucial way spectral criteria for admissibility and observability for conservative systems, which allows in particular to decouple the problems related to the discretization in space and in time, and to obtain very general results

Texto completoThis work was mainly focused on the wine instability with respect to the salts of tartaric acid. It was compared the traditional method, and most used, which keeps the wine at low temperatures to form crystals of potassium hydrogentartrate, but still, at temperatures above the freezing point of wine, with a more recent method the electrodialysis which passes the wine through membranes that remove the desired ions. This was made through an extensive set of analysis on various wines Bacalhôa wine company, SA with great impact on the national and international market. The tartaric stability is assessed by a test "ISTC50" designed in the company INRA, France, and this method was compared with a classic test, the freezer test Comparing the results obtained for the two methods it can be observed that the electrodialysis does not cause significant effects on various parameters of the wine, except in SO2 and those related with its cations. A sensory level can be concluded that treatment by electrodialysis in relation to the classical treatment by cold, showed no significant differences, since the tasting panel for both wines showed similar results.
Dennys, C. "The search for stability through stabilisation : case studies from Afghanistan and Nepal". Thesis, Cranfield University, 2013. http://dspace.lib.cranfield.ac.uk/handle/1826/8030.
Texto completoThis thesis focuses on what stability is, and what interventions have supported stability in four communities in Afghanistan and Nepal. It is the author’s view that this is the first in-depth village level assessment of how populations conceive of stability and stabilisation and thus presents a challenge to existing analysis and research about how to foster stability in contexts in extreme tension and often violent conflict. The thesis argues that international, particularly Western, notions of stability and stabilisation processes have failed to grasp the importance of local political legitimacy formation, which is a vital aspect of contemporary statebuilding of a ‘non-Westphalian’ nature. The interventions, across defence, diplomatic and defence lines, have also at times undermined one another and in some cases contributed to instability. This is particularly acute when the interventions have been motivated by the conflicting demands of statebuilding, counter-insurgency (COIN) and development theories. The thesis argues that the nature of the interventions, their conception of stability and exogenously-driven goals limit the ability to promote stability. Research findings indicate that that local processes of stabilisation have, at times, proven to be more enduring but only in circumstances where a combination of local and national political processes have allowed political legitimacy to be formed and maintained. Research findings also suggest that the more successful stability interventions have been critically supported by humanitarian and security activities which have provided for the immediate needs of the population. Longer term stability has only been embedded in contexts which have also been able to exploit economic opportunities.
