Paradoxically, being controlled and disciplined by the medical institution is a privilege, since only some people can access it. This paradox constitutes the starting point: to explore the relationship between the processes of construction and management of the suffering body and the configuration of a particular form of power, as it is expressed in the development of modern medicine in Colombia; and to establish the genealogy of an imperial governmentality based on the medical predation of bodies. This work tries to demonstrate the leading role of the global circulation of discourses on the sick body in the naturalization of a global and colonial distribution of suffering. The construction and management of this body, coordinated on a global scale, continue to naturalize this distribution guaranteeing that suffering is effectively inscribed in the bodies. This dosage of suffering conditions a properly modern ontological system defined on a scale that goes from the human to the object. The conceptual and methodological framework from which this problem is addressed is an attempt to answer the question: how to criticize modernity through the tools of modern episteme (mainly within the knowledge known as academic)? For this, this analysis frames dialogues with the ways of thinking of: black feminism, feminism of the third world of the United States, decolonial turn, and Latin American anti-racist feminisms. This analysis is also inspired by the Andean epistemological perspective (the science of Aymara-Quechua weaving). Additionally, this work dialogues with postcolonial studies on medicine and with the history of emotions.3

This study deals with the painfulness of work and focuses on psychic painfulness. It aims at distinguishing the psychic painfulness of the physical dimension in any sector of activity and understanding its articulation with stress and burnout in order to better understand its issues. Thus, 39 employees of an agro-alimentary industry and 32 employees of a company of service delivery participated in this study. The analyses diagnosed the presence of psychic painfulness in both sectors of activity and the results show that it constitutes one of the predictors of stress and burnout. This painfulness, distinct from the physical painfulness, is characterized at the agro-alimentary company P by indirect factors linked to the activity, such as the weight of the responsibility relating to the position held, the inexperience in a workstation, the fear of making a mistake that can cause heavy consequence for the company and the hyper-alertness imposed by the rhythm of the machine; and to the professional consular chamber A, it is characterized by a high pressure of work related to last-minute work, to the constraints of very short deadlines, to the work in the urgency, to considerable workload linked to the regular addition of files, to a highly directive management style, to an inappropriate work organization and to the lack of recognition of the work of certain socio-professional categories by the hierarchy. Furthermore, the job satisfaction and the meaning of work participate in the inter-individual variability of the psychic painfulness

Despite the increasing body of research on eating disorders and body related issues, there has been surprisingly little focus on the meaning that individuals who suffer from these disorders make of their struggles. Thus, many questions such as how such difficulties arise; how various women manage to achieve a superior level of well-being subsequently and how they describe this well-being remain unaddressed. To address these shortcomings, this study used a qualitative methodology to investigate women’s subjective experience of body image related issues and eating disorders. Ten women who have suffered from an eating disorder or body related issues underwent a semi-structured individual interview. The qualitative analysis of the interviews revealed that discomfort towards one’s body was a central theme that emerged from participants discourse. In many cases, this discomfort led the women to make efforts to lose weight. Many women claim that denouncing the social structures that encourage negative body images could lead to collective and social changes which would promote the inclusion of various body types et thus decrease the level of suffering that stems from the narrow range of bodies that are judged acceptable.

Thesis proposes a sociological approach to self-injury practices, a matter which is traditionally studied by psychology. This practice is defined as deliberate and repetitive self-inflicted injury, which is socially stigmatized and performed in order to relieve oneself of some kind of malaise this is done without any conscious suicidal, sexual or esthetical intentions. The empirical material is mostly composed of repeated in depth interviews with adolescents and young adults who were recruited in online forums and mental health establishments. Following a methodological discussion on the particularities of these fields of investigation, the analysis is presented around two main lines. First, I provide a concrete description of how self-injury occurs in regard to the life trajectories of the affected individuals, the everyday occurrence of this behavior, and the practical modalities of such acts. Second, the search for some "social conditions" of self-injury is the crux of the analysis. Individual case studies elaborate the three dimensions of self-harming practices -secrecy, deviance and self-aggressivity -which contribute to its effectiveness and relative choice. This perspective leads to a sociological interpretation where self-injury is considered in light of the social positions into families of the subjects, the issue being crucial in their school lives, their social belonging, as well as in their corporeal experiences and gender identities. This thesis provides a reflection on the social circumstances which facilitate the recourse to self -injury. It leads to an examination of such practices as a technique of self-control

The protection of children in situation of vulnerability is a social concern in Burkina Faso. Despite the adoption and the ratification of numerous legal texts and the significant presence of actors who are supposed to be defending child rights, the question of how to deal effectively with these rights remains an open question. How to explain this paradox ? lt is this is question that we will turn on in this thesis. lt analyzes the national child welfare system with the prism of organizational models by highlighting the contribution of two non-state actors in the country : Direct-Aïd and SOS Villages d'enfants. From a comparative perspective, the research apprehends the logics of these NGOs, the strategies they implement and the perceptions of beneficiaries in the city of Ouagadougou . Two mechanisms co-exist in child welfare : the first mechanism is formai and is under the responsibility of public structures while the second mechanism, a non-formai one, is led by components of civil society. The protection system needs better governance in order to find long-lasting solutions to organization and coordination related problems that affect the quality of the participation of stakeholders. The positive perceptions expressed by the majority of beneficiaries are evidence that NGOs fill a large gap left by the government. Nonetheless, differences and even contradictions with regard to the definition of concepts such as childhood, protection and vulnerability show that structures are not on the same wavelength in their daily struggle. The State must take it responsibility in achieving a co-construction of a protection system more dynamic and which will allow insertion that will better benefit young people in difficulty. The research method mobilized qualitative methods (semi-directive interviews, life staries, focus groups, and observations), including photography and drawing

In this thesis the author wonders about the real-life experience of suffering at work. We shah see how this real-life experience, which is revealed by the complaint, is the reflection of the Zeitgeist. Indeed, in a Manichean vision which belongs to a world where can proliferate destructivity as a symptom of a collective tragedy, we can consider that a collective Superego sets up itself as rampart against the aggressiveness of the individuals towards the powerful authorities which maintain this system. The question of its own peculiarity with regard to the community is also underlined and the way each one makes to exist, in particular by means of the suffering. And, because relationship of the individuals with their work appears to us to be the reflection of the postmodern mentalities, this one will constitute a privileged ground of observation. In counterweight, some Dionysian exuberance in the air as desire, for the individuals, to re-appropriate themselves as "Ego" singular in a culture dominated by the hyper-rationalism of the consciousnesses, could establish new forms of social relationships far away from what they were during the XIXth and XXth centuries. From a population of migrants chosen exactly because they also belong to another culture, in spite of their singular story and of their structuring with regard to this one, we shah see how the culture, through the collective values fias submitted the individual psyche

The purpose of this research is intended to differentiate, conceptually, the different aspects associated with the adolescent work, enhancing the problems and questions that underlie a clinical work which is able to understand the influence of social discourse on the difficulties of the adolescent process. This research is intended to progress from issues relating to the contemporary adolescent clinic, to the formulation of a hypothesis based on writings about the influence of the historical social processes in adolescence. In particular, this research aims to generate reflection on the bond that links the individual and the society during adolescence. The study is structured according to three main sections. The first section is aimed at highlighting the main milestones of research on adolescence and the discomfort caused by the market societies. The second section allows a reading of the teenager passage, linking the psychoanalytic perspectives to the Theory of Mediation. A third section develops a positional analysis of the current forms of suffering, in particular regarding the phenomena of the Chilean youth. Thus, an understanding of Chilean adolescent discomfort develops in this work. Therefore, it is intended to develop hypotheses concerning the psychopathology of adolescence in the cotemporary Chilean society, particularly on the phenomena of violence and rejection of others

How do strategic and management consultants think and live their careers? This very dynamic sector of strategy and management consulting is both criticized and little known by society. It attracts many young graduates, mostly for a few years. Perceived by candidates as a career accelerator, it seemed interesting to study the reality at work valued by young degreed people and companies. My questions regarding this activity concern the methods used, the added value of consulting companies and the recommendations they make which are accused of generating complexities within their clients. Using approaches related to organizational sociology and ethnography, I tried to shed new light on this practice, starting from a total immersion of one year in a strategy and organization consulting company. From a methodological point of view, I suggest a system of interviews I called "continuous interviews". This method makes it possible to benefit from the advantages of the classical life stories and the continuation of the interview by various forms (mails, sms, voice messages) offers us the possibility of a reflexive look of the person interviewed on his speech. The results of this thesis allow me to focus on different themes. It is found that the initial illusion, hidden by the fact that consulting is an activity that attracts and which is close to decision places quickly leaves place to a professional disillusionment for young recruited people. My research clarified the ambiguous relationship in terms of management that can exist in a "mentoring" relationship between juniors and senior managers, especially when this is done in a setting where the ‘godson’ and the ‘godfather’ are in relationships that can be both hierarchical and non-hierarchical. This thesis allows us to explore the modalities of paradoxical suffering at work for young motivated managers
