Texto completoIn the present work an investigation of the reforming technologies available for Solid Oxide Fuel Cell (SOFC) systems and their basic concepts has been carried out, with the aim to describe, test and simulate the reforming process for fault diagnosis application. The final aim of a fault diagnosis activity for SOFC systems is to reach the required criteria for a commercial application, which, besides long lifetime and performance, include high reliability and safety at reasonable costs. The achievement of these targets is necessary to contribute promoting the SOFC technology and finally starting a mass production phase. In this thesis, the attention has been focused on the reforming reactor, responsible for the conversion of the inlet fuel in hydrogen, suitable source fuel for the SOFC. In particular, the Catalytic Partial Oxidation (CPOx) process has been analyzed. The CPOx reforming mechanism is the most attractive technology for the production of syngas or hydrogen in small-medium scale SOFC applications and Micro Combined Heat and Power (μCHP) systems. This is due to the ability of the CPOx reaction to be carried out in compact reactors with rapid dynamic response and with low heat capacity. The reaction is slightly exothermic and therefore does not require external heat to take place. In addition, CPOx technology does not require steam, as the media required for the reforming reaction is air, which is easily available for residential application. This mainly means that CPOx is independent from an external water source and any heating source. The hydrocarbon is both oxidized to CO2 and H2O, either partially or completely, and also converted to synthesis gas by endothermic steam reforming (according to the indirect CPOx mechanism). Despite these advantages, catalytic partial oxidation is less efficient than steam reforming. This indicates that it is most suitable for applications in which the system simplicity has the priority with respect to the hydrogen yield. The high surface temperatures can cause a local loss of activity of the catalyst, leading to the instable performance of the entire reactor. Nevertheless, in the CPOx process even a small difference in the operating air and fuel flow rates could lead to carbon deposition or oxidation of the catalyst, with serious consequences for the SOFC system and for the stack itself. It is therefore extremely important to develop a diagnosis tool able to investigate these phenomena and to detect and isolate the faults that may verify inside the reactor. The most common fault events likely to occur inside a CPOx reformer for SOFC applications have been analyzed through a Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) and a Fault Tree Analysis (FTA). These analyses are aimed at identifying the main events responsible for the catalyst deactivation, together with their causes and effects on the SOFC system performance. The Catalytic Partial Oxidation mechanism has then been explored from both modelling and experimental points of view, with the aim to simulate the reforming process and identifying the thermodynamic optimal operating conditions at which natural gas may be converted to hydrogen. At the same time, the main fault scenarios likely to occur during the reforming phase have been analyzed, both in experiments and during simulations, to evaluate the capability of the developed model in performing effective fault detection and isolation for on-board diagnostic application. The CPOx dynamic model developed is based on the minimization of Gibbs free energy and can be easily reconfigured for describing a steam reforming mechanism. The simulation results give useful indication on how operating parameters such as the input conditions of reactants (inlet compositions and temperature) affect the reaction equilibrium and, in turn, the products composition and reactor outlet temperature. A sensitivity analysis for different operating conditions has been carried out. The transient behavior of the reforming reaction and the information about methane conversion and hydrogen selectivity complete the set of model results. The dynamic CPOx model has been validated through experimental data and its behavior during transients has been carefully analyzed during the variations in the set-points of operating phases. Both test data and reactor design were part of the activities performed within the EFESO project, funded by the Italian Ministry of Economic Development and led by Ariston Thermo Spa. The model results demonstrate that the CPOx dynamic model represents a useful tool for fault diagnosis application and its results provide an interesting benchmark for the design and working parameters of a CPOx reforming system for SOFC application. Texto completoThe french industrial project MEGaN targets the development of power module based on GaN HEMT transistors. One of the industrial applications is the aeronautics field with a high-constraint on the galvanic isolation (>100 kV/s) and ambient temperature (200°C). The intent of this work is the power module block (3 phases inverter 650 V 30 A). The goal is to obtain a small footprint module, 30 cm2, with necessary functions such as gate driver, gate driver power supply, bulk capacitor and current phase sensor. This goal implies high efficiency as well as respect of the constraint of galvanic isolation with an optimized volume. This dissertation, besides the state of the art of power modules and especially the GaN HEMT ones, addressed a control signal isolation solution based on coreless transformers. Different prototypes based on coreless transformers were characterized and verified over 3000 hours in order to evaluate their robustness. The different studies realized the characterization of the different market available GaN HEMTs in order to mature a circuit simulation model for various converter topologies. In the collaborative work of the project, our contribution did not focus on the gate driver chip design even if experimental evaluation work was made, but a gate driver power supply strategy. The first gate driver isolated power supply design proposition focused on the low-voltage GaN HEMT conversion. The active-clamp Flyback topology allows to have the best trade-off between the GaN transistors and the isolation constraint of the transformer. Different transformer topolgies were experimentally performed and a novel PCB embedded transformer process was proposed with high-temperature capability. A lamination process was proposed for its cost-efficiency and for the reliability of the prototype (1000 H cycling test between - 55; + 200°C), with 88 % intrinsic efficiency. However, the transformer isolation capacitance was drastically reduced compared to the previous prototypes. 2 high-integrated gate driver power supply prototypes were designed with: GaN transistors (2.4 MHz, 2 W, 74 %, 6 cm2), and with a CMOS SOI dedicated chip (1.2 MHz, 2 W, 77 %, 8.5 cm2). In the last chapter, this dissertation presents an easily integrated solution for a phase current sensor based on the magnetoresistance component. The comparison between shunt resistor and magnetoresistance is experimentally performed. Finally, two inverter prototypes are presented, with one multi-level gate driver dedicated for GaN HEMT showing small switching loss performance

In this thesis, two kinds of soft computing techniques have been applied to the active structure vibration isolation system. Firstly, the artificial neural networks with back-propagation algorithms, quick-prop algorithms and radial basis function are studied. And then applied them to solve functions approximation. The second part of this thesis, the activate structure vibration isolation system is discussed. In this part, the fuzzy control theory is used to establish a controller for the isolation system. Then use the artificial neural networks with Newton’s method to simulate the fuzzy controller and the main system of the isolation system. Finally, we propose a training procedure for designing a controller of the isolation system quickly. The main step in this training produce is to identify the isolation system inversely. And then use the completely trained artificial neural networks under a designed reference signal. By some tests, the results show that the artificial neural networks is a flexibility and robust method to design a controller of isolation systems.

Investigation on the chemical constituents of the EtOH extract of the soft coral Lobophytum sarcophytoides, collected off the coast of Dongsha Atoll, Taiwan, has led to the isolation of ten natural compounds 1–10, including four new cembrane-type diterpenoids, Sarcophytolins A–D (1–4) and one new polyhydroxylated steroid 23, 24-Dimethyl-cholesta-5, 16-diene-3β, 20α-diol (5) along with five know compounds 6–10。The structure of compounds 1–10 were established by detailed spectral data analysis (IR, MS, 1D, 2D NMR) and by comparison of the spectral data with those of the related known compounds. The relative stereochemistries of compound 5 was further confirmed by X-ray single-crystal diffraction analysis. The cytotoxicity of compounds 1–10 against the Daoy (human medulloblastoma), Hep-2 (human laryngeal carcinoma), MCF-7 (human breast adenocarcinoma), CCRF-CEM (human T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia), and DLD-1/WiDr (human colon adenocarcinoma) tumor cell lines were determined. Compounds 6, 8, 9, and 10 exhibited moderate cytotoxicities against the tested tumor cells. Furthermore, compounds 1, 2, 4, 6, and 10 were found to show significant activity against the accumulation of the pro-inflammatory iNOS protein at 10 μM.
