ENGELSK ABSTRACT: Kristoffer Kropp, Gry Malling Loehr and Heine Andersen: The Role of Dansk Sociologi in the Development of Danish Sociology. Dissemination of Knowledge and Inspiration for 25 years This article describes and evaluates the journal Dansk Sociologi (Danish Sociology) from its inception in 1989-1990 until its 25th anniversary in 2014. The Danish Sociological Association took the initiative to set up the journal during sociology’s institutional crisis due to fact that the Minister of Education had decided to close the sociology department at the University of Copenhagen, the only place in Denmark with the discipline. The article discusses the evolution of the journal’s organizational framework, its authors, editors, and content. The journal has been used as a vehicle for publication by a large proportion of Danish sociologists. Subscriptions have been growing until 2006. There has been a shift from theoretical articles to a wider range of empirical ones, and from a more discussion-based form to a more detached and standardized academic one. There has been considerable pluralism, and there have been no major controversies. The challenges that the journal must address are an internationalization pressure that could weaken authors’ incentives to write for a Danish journal, the transition to internet media, and finally requirements for open access that could threaten the journal’s economy. Keywords: the journal Dansk Sociologi, the Danish Sociological Association, sociology’s history.

Resumen
This article has as a central focus the chair of sociology, aiming to expose the historical traces of its institutionalization in the secondary studies of Sergipe, since its first signs, in 1892, when it was created under the name of “sociologia, moral, noções de economia política e direito pátrio” (sociology, moral, notions of political economy and national law), until 1925, when it became an autonomous chair. The documental sources used were primarily legislative texts, as well as documents produced by the Atheneu Sergipense. Sociology emphasizes the importance of social networks and relationships in shaping historical outcomes. Social networks can influence everything from economic success to political power to health outcomes. For example, a person's social connections can impact their ability to find a job or access healthcare, and can also influence their political views and behaviors.

Resumen
Summary This paper presents the main approaches and issues of Anglo-canadian sociology of the last forty years, showing their limits and their theoretical inadequacies. It discusses the current practices of sociologists and asks the question: which social dimensions should be taken into account to strenghten sociological theory. It emphasizes the necessity to go beyond the framework of the social sciences to build a proper understanding of humanity and social activity.

Palavras-Chave: Racionalização; Monetarização; Dinheiro; Globalização; Aldo HaeslerRATIONALIZATION AND MONETIZATION: categories of globalizationABSTRACTThis article aims to analyze some aspects of central dimension in the phenomenon often known as globalization. Resumen
This article posits that traditional economics contains relevant sociological dimensions and that these consist primarily of conceptions and elements of social economics or economic sociology. On this premise, it explores these sociological dimensions in the form of conceptions and elements of social economics and/or economic sociology in classical political economy and neoclassical economics. The article identifies explicit conceptions of social economics such as the proposal for social economy and the idea of economic sociology as well as its implicit versions, including its implications in ‘purest’ economic theory. Alternatively, the article finds no important sociological dimensions in the form of rational choice theory, i.e. the ‘economics of society’, in classical and neoclassical economic science. The article reconsiders economics and sociology in their shared elements or complementary relations as ‘sister’ social sciences.

At the theoretical level, within the context of developed countries such as the UK and USA, the paradigm of the emerging 'knowledge economy' is becoming prevalent in sociology, and social sciences more broadly. Leading social scientists see this as a crucial development. This paper challenges the view about the emergence of this new type of economy and looks at the intersection of economics and the sociology of education. Central questions to be addressed here are whether we need a radically new approach to education in the light of the recent developments? Should broad and humanistic goals be subjected to the needs of economy and the labour market? How can we best approach educational planning? Are we witnessing the emergence of the economy of the highly skilled? Are there examples that represent a countervailing power to this hypothesis? Are there instances where we can witness the 'low skills' agenda? In essence, the paper is geared to investigating how these questions can be answered or deflected.

Resumen
Abstract The article sets out to demonstrate the continuing relevance of the concept of embeddedness in economic sociology, juxtaposing it with the question of disembeddedness through an analysis of three time periods. In the first period, the interpretation of the concept introduced by Karl Polanyi was marked by the notion of “social construction of the economy.” In the second period, the debate focused on criticizing the liberalizing agenda of the Washington Consensus, suggesting that its negative effects on economic development and social solidarity would force the state to retake control of the economy, re-embedding it. The third period acknowledges the specificity of the market economy through an analysis of neoliberalism as a political-institutional arrangement and a moral-normative system that produces “embeddedness on disembeddedness.” The article also discusses the re-establishment of social solidarity in an increasingly disembedded economy.

Resumen
Abstract The paper begins with a brief reminder of the origin of economic sociology. It then surveys research by economic sociologists from the 1980s to the present, with a focus on their relation to political economy, which ranges from close to arm's length. Finally, beyond any differences between economic theory and economic sociology, the paper considers how both approaches can be connected in the socio-historical and economic study of economic inequalities by Thomas Piketty, and the use of matching markets by Alvin Roth.

Resumen
Abstract There exists a rich and colorful tradition of economic sociology, which roughly began around the turn of the twentieth century and continues till today. This tradition has generated a number of helpful concepts and ideas as well as interesting research results, which this article seek to briefly present and set in perspective. Economic sociology has peaked twice since its birth: in 1890-1920, with the founders of sociology (who were all interested in and wrote on the economy), and today, from the early 1980s and onward. A small number of important works in economic sociology - by economists as well as sociologists - was produced during the time between these two periods, from 1920 to the mid-1980s.

Resumen
The aim of this paper is to demonstrate the value and the limit of the sociology of critique as a form of post-Bourdieusian critical sociology, especially where moral values play a crucial role in explaining actions - as they do in the solidarity econ-omy, the field analyzed here. Contrary to interpretations of justifications as moral toolkits unconsciously mobilized by actors about practices whose real reasons lie elsewhere, I suggest that the sociology of critique's notion of "grammar" is useful for articulating the normative moral elements that motivate specific actions and justifications. We will see how taking the actors themselves seriously - the sociolo-gy of critique's motto - can yield important insights for sociology. But then we face a problem within the field that the sociology of critique can't resolve alone: there sometimes appears to be a contradiction between actors' actions and their justifications. Phenomenology can help us to understand these justifications at a deeper level as expressions of fundamental ways of relating to the world. In this sense phenomenology is useful to a moral sociology of critique because it helps us find a solution to the "contradiction" that the sociology of critique left unsolved.

Resumen
There are comparatively few socio-economic conditions in the community, so the demand on coastal infrastructure to satisfy Community demands may, over the long term, be much greater. The level of education of the fishing community is still classified as poor and coastal community settlements, especially fishermen, are still not well organized under environmental conditions. In the long term, the demand on coastal services would be higher in order to satisfy Community needs, given the community's socio-economic circumstances which are comparatively poor in healthcare. Much in the coastal regions fishing was passed down by their descendants from generation to generation.

Resumen
This forum opens a debate that is long overdue: for far too long, the fields of international political sociology (IPS) and international political economy (IPE) have been standing apart. Discussions take place in different conference sections, in different networks that publish in different journals. Yet, this divide is surprising given that the two fields share similar trajectories, theoretical concerns, problématiques, and conceptual challenges. This forum starts exploring this shared terrain: we believe that there is no a priori reason to separate the sociocultural, the political and the economic when we aim at making sense of the world in any meaningful way. We propose that bridging the IPE-IPS divide has tremendous potential for the development of a socio-political economy analysis that, we believe, has two benefits. First, it allows for the opening of new empirical terrains or deepening and widening existing ones. Second, bringing IPE/S back together creates reflexive spaces for more holistic, embodied and contextualised conceptual innovation. The contributors to this forum show each in their own way such empirical and conceptual added value of moving beyond the IPE and IPS divide in order to develop what we call here a socio-political economy of the globe. They focus on various issues, such as the transformation of capitalism from an oil- to a data-dependent accumulation regime with the rising of the so-called ‘digital age’ (Chenou); the profound social, economic and political transformation triggered by urbanisation in the development world (Elias, Rethel and Tilley); emerging global risks and the neglected role of the insurance industry (Lobo-Guerrero); regional development-security nexuses (Lopez Lucia); and business power in climate change diplomacy (Moussu).

Resumen
This article discusses six problems in the area of the sociology of the ethnic economy. The problems are: (1) a skewed view of the import and robustness of ethnic businesses, (2) an inaccurate view of harmony and exclusive dependence on co-ethnics among ethnic business owners, (3) a contradiction between the stranger hypothesis and the protected market hypothesis, (4) difficulties with the special endowments hypothesis, (5) uncertainties in propositions that attempt to explain business concentration among ethnics, and (6) use of the term middleman minority in a generic sense. The works of five leading U.S. scholars are examined in terms of what they contribute to the solution of these problems.

Resumen
Talcott Parsons' important legacy in the field of economic sociology still remains underestimated. The paper pays Parsons his due, without avoiding criticism. The paper focuses on his most mature work in this field, i.e. „Economy and Society”, co-authored with Neil Smelser. Many weaknesses in Parsonian approach are rooted in his methodological outlook, in particular his anti-empricism that leads him to prefer conceptual methods over the facts, which preference, in turn, is responsible for many substantive omissions and errors Parsons commits. Nevertheless, some of his ideas, such as an input-output paradigm, or even his famous AGIl scheme have proved to be mor fruitful. Many critical points made by Parsons' opponents are, therefore, found to be irrelevant or misplaced. This refers in particular to an interesting and innovative in a number of respects theory of money.

Resumen
Academic disciplines are defined not primarily by their object but by their (theoretical and methodological) approach to that object, and by their claim to a monopoly over it. Even where that monopoly claim has been highly successful, it remains contestable. For example, economics, perhaps in this respect the most successful social science, finds its object – the economy – contested by political economists and economic sociologists. Whereas economics has successfully marginalized potential competitors, sociology has remained a broad church. Attempts to impose theoretical and methodological order on the discipline have met with resistance, and eventually failed. Moreover, sociology has never really reached consensus on what its object is; ‘society’, ‘social facts’, ‘social action’ were the classical options, with the list growing over time (social networks, rational action, actor networks, etc.). Thus, while we can speak of ‘heterodox economics’ there is insufficient orthodoxy to speak of ‘heterodox sociology’. This has an obverse side. Precisely because of the weakness of its monopolistic claims, sociology has been very productive in spawning new disciplinary fields, which, rather than remaining within sociology’s weak gravitational pull, successfully establish themselves as separate disciplines or ‘studies’. Criminology, industrial relations, urban studies and organization studies are the most obvious examples. In light of this, this article addresses two questions: (1) What happens to these new fields when they break free of the parent discipline, and to the parent discipline when they do? (2) If one effect on the ‘offspring’ is a loss of disciplinary orientation (as the rationale for this special issue suggests) what, if anything, has contemporary sociology to offer OS as a potential source of reorientation?

Resumen
This paper integrates the concept of “embeddedness” from economic sociology into the global political economy perspective in order to understand the effects of foreign investment on development. 604 foreign invested enterprises in China are used to test whether or not foreign investment that is embedded in ethnic ties leads to more positive development outcomes than those produced by investment not embedded in these institutions. The analysis concludes that foreign investment that is embedded in ethnic ties leads to greater linkages to local firms and more high-value activities being transferred to the investee nation. The article concludes by arguing for a greater integration of the economic sociology and global political economy literatures.

Resumen
This review article is devoted to the presentation of recent trends in development of the economic sociology, in general, and in the USA, in particular. The return to the ?great (European) traditions? in the economic sociology started in the 1980-ties, with M. Granovetter?s article, published in AJS 1985, on ?social embeddedness? of economic actions. Relying on the most recent publications in this field, author presents the key principles of economic sociology (on economic action as a form of social action, on economic institutions as ?social construction? and on economic actions as socially situated and ?embedded? activities) and contrast approaches of economy and sociology in studying economic phenomena. Some key concepts of the new economic sociology (social embeddedness, social network, social capital) were analyzed through some important investigations where these concepts were applied. It has been stressed that the new economic sociology reintegrate sociological studies of work, organization, stratification, culture and global social development and brings an alternative, more comprehensive understanding of economic phenomena then one provided by mainstream economic studies. New economic sociology in USA and in other developed societies enhanced the social role of sociology as a modern profession. Finally, these recent developments in economic sociology are relevant for the study of countries in post-socialist transformation. ?Economism? which characterized most ?transition? approaches in these countries has lead to the inefficient ?change policies?, greatly by ignoring ?social embeddedness? of the former and prospective ?economic order?.

Resumen
In her groundbreaking scholarship on intimacy and economy, Viviana Zelizer coined the concept of relational work, or efforts in matching social relations with economic transactions and media of exchange. This article reviews the conceptual advances and empirical applications of relational work over the past two decades. I first trace the origins of the concept and discuss how it is distinct from the idea of embeddedness. I then identify variants of relational work proposed in economic sociology, including relational accounting, obfuscated exchange, clarifying and blurring practices, and emotions and power in relational work. The second part of the review discusses research on relational work in five areas: earmarking money, walking the terrain of morally problematic exchange, configuring social relations through economic activity, using social relations to negotiate economic interactions, and scaling up to relational work of organizations and institutions. I end by proposing areas of future research to examine the determinants and consequences of relational work for (dis)trust, (in)equality, and relational (mis)matches.

Resumen
In this text I discuss about contribution of Max Weber’s sociology relate to the area of policy action and economy. In addition to the analysis of capitalism which embodies Webers ideal-type constructions such as bureaucracy, authority and power, process of rationalisation and forms of social action but also an essential part of his sociology are concepts of social action and social order. Every aspect mentioned in the text is an important part of the basic dynamism in society on a higher level. Weber observed society in its entirety through institucional structure and processes which take place within the same society also considering their historical framwork. Successful prediction of the future society developments are a verification of sociologis quality which Weber certainly deserved.

Resumen
Why has the Islamic economy, as a model of socioeconomic development, gained traction as a viable option? The existing literature suggests that the Islamic economy has been popularized by a combination of factors, including anticolonial movements, a global renewal of religiosity, and the activities of new social strata who merge piety with capitalist orientations. These approaches, however, tend to homogenize social actors, subsuming them under the overarching label of Islamism. In contrast, this article employs the lens of “intra-hegemonic struggles” to identify three competing orientations of Islamism and their manifestation in the economy. Drawing on eighteen months of fieldwork in Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, it argues that this contestation motivates diverse segments of the society to create and engage in the Islamic economy, rather than any single state-driven or identity-based movement. The article synthesizes three otherwise isolated bodies of work: the political sociology of articulation, new theories of Islamism, and the concept of imaginaries from economic sociology.

Resumen
Abstract The special issue “Humanistic Economy” is a collection of articles which are a response to the increasingly frequent voices, for contemporary economics to be treated not only as a set of economic notions, but as a science, where human beings and their happiness are the main focus. The authors suggest the use of solutions from the area of psychology, sociology or cultural studies in economics, which allow considering economics as a humanities science. This special issue consists of this introduction and 13 submissions which are published in issues 10:2 and 10:3.

Resumen
Cultural and creative industries are now an established area of academic research. Yet, the welcome innovations that are associated with the development of a new field of study are also matched by confusions and conjectures. The term itself, ‘cultural and creative industries’, is the subject of extensive debate. It goes hand in hand with closely related concepts such as ‘creative economy’, as well as reflecting definitional struggles aimed at conjoining or demarcating the creative and the cultural. Many of these debates have been the subject of sociological research and research in Sociology. This collection considers that specific role of sociology, and Sociology, to the study of cultural and creative industries. The e-special issue collects articles ranging from early empirical and theoretical precursors to the formal establishment of cultural and creative industries as a field of study, to more recent work considering the coherence and usefulness of the category itself.

Resumen
The recent publication of the volume Limitele supraviețuirii. Sociologia maghiară din Transilvania după 1945 [The Limits of Survival: Hungarian Sociology in Transylvania After 1945], signed by Székedi Levente, is a notable contribution to the study of the Transylvanian Hungarian sociology, the author’s playground being, for the time being, little frequented by other researchers. The analysis of the post-1945 period, made “on the grassroots,” from the perspective of survival, focusing on sociologists such as József Venczel or Lajos Jordáky, as well as other intellectuals, makes the reader part of a stage of adaptation and transformation of the Transylvanian Hungarian sociology in the context of an austere regime. After 1948, when sociology was eliminated as a science, we are the spectators of a long process of sociologists’ resistance and disguise of sociological research, under the umbrella of institutions other than sociological ones. The “escape directions” covered areas such as: political economy, folklore, history, social history, linguistics. The reappearance of Korunk magazine in 1957 led “cautiously” to the rehabilitation of sociology in the Hungarian culture in Romania. The author of the volume emphasizes the importance of the magazine’s editor-in-chief, Professor Ernő Gáll, in this whole process of re-establishing sociology and the Gusti School, analyzing the first articles, true professions of faith that stage the new action plans and research. The volume Limitele supraviețuirii. Sociologia maghiară din Transilvania după 1945 is about the Hungarian sociology of Transylvania in the complicated historical chapters of the period after August 23rd, 1944, for two decades, while at the same time frankly addressing the situation of the Hungarian minority in Transylvania. In this sense, it is worth mentioning the multidisciplinary and dynamic character of the work, necessary for any effort of political, historical, and sociological understanding of that era.

Resumen
In industrialised countries, the growth of wage labour and capitalist relations of production have been associated with a decline in ‘child labour’. The general assumption within sociology is that children do not undertake productive labour, and that their new economic role is to attend school and prepare to become future members of the labour force. This paper presents evidence from a wider research project on children's involvement in ‘work’ and focuses on children's accounts of their contribution to domestic labour within their homes, based on an analysis of children's written descriptions of their everyday lives outside school. Data were collected from 730 children aged between 11 and 16 years in schools in Birmingham and Cambridgeshire, and in a small number of interviews and discussions with children. The paper suggests that children's labour has been rendered invisible behind dominant conceptualisations within sociology of ‘the child’ as passive and dependent, and argues that far from being mere ‘burdens’ on their families, some children may be making important contributions to household labour in the form of the routine daily tasks and child-care they undertake.

Resumen
In a conversation with Fabian Muniesa from the board of editors of Valuation Studies, Luc Boltanski and Arnaud Esquerre unravelled a few of the distinguishing features of their new work on the sociology of valuation. Combining an updated view on the pragmatics of justification and a more recent preoccupation with the problem of prices, their proposal appears as both a suitable contribution and a timely challenge to current threads in valuation studies. It also interacts in a stimulating fashion with their concomitant analysis of the political atmosphere in France, and more widely of the shift to identity that so vividly informs the critique of capitalism today.
