Resumen
The topic of analysis are socio-cultural imaginaries of the pandemic. The assumption is that the pandemic may be characterized by reference to the imaginaries and system of knowledge related to the disease as well as is located in modern and postmodern imaginaries of risk, post-Anthropocentrism and trajectory of socio-cultural trauma creation process. The socio-cultural exemplifications of the presented thesis are transmitted by the media representations of the Covid-19 pandemic. The paper is composed of three main parts. The first one analyses the notions of an imaginary and socio-cultural trauma representation, the second part presents in the light of sociological and humanistic theories some selected exemplifications of pandemic representations and the third part is a summary.

Resumen
This work aimed to analyze the socio-motor and cultural representations present in the circle game, called CACURI, typical of the Sateré-Mawé/AM People. Under the focus of motor Praxiology we can define Cacuri as a socio-motor activity characterized as CAI in the classification of P. Parlebas, that is, it is performed with Companion, in the presence of Adversary and without Instability in the physical surroundings. In view of the theories of corporeity we can perceive the forms of socio-cultural representations and from this look it is undeniable that children learn by playing, recreating their day life, without any conscious intention of a productive survival activity, only by simply copying adult life. Therefore we are faced with another point to be analyzed in the face of corporeity, because fishing with Cacuri is carried out by the men of the community and the game is typical of the girl’s imaginary world.

Resumen
This paper is an attempt to study the representation of socio-cultural life in Kamala Markandaya’s Bombay Tiger. Being a leading post-independent Indian novelist, Kamala Markandaya has candidly portrayed Indian social, cultural and political life through her novels. She has rightly reflected these aspects in the work Bombay Tiger. Her description of various aspects and dimensions of cultural life is not imaginary and based on some literature, but it is based on carefully observed traditions and depicted cultural values and ideas. Soon after the death of Kamala Markandaya her daughter Kim Oliver found a typewritten copy of her novel and it was published posthumously with the title ‘Bombay Tiger’ in 2008. Charles R. Larson, one of the close friends of Markandaya and Professor of Literature, American University, Washington, DC has written an introduction to novel Bombay Tiger (2008) where he writes: Reading Bombay Tiger twenty years after Kamala Markandaya began writing the novel is a kind of revelation – especially for what it says about contemporary India” (Larson xii). Although Markandaya lived in abroad she kept in touch with the India. She actively read English newspapers which provided excellent coverage of occurrences in the commonwealth in general and India in particular. It has been rightly said that Kamala Markandaya’s “Sense of India was always extraordinarily vivid, filled with rich vitality, and imaginative in the way of all great writers (and especially novelists) who have been connected to place (Larson xii).

Resumen
The aim of the study is to comprehend in a theoretical manner the principles of opera as a synthetic genre, namely taking into account the symbiosis of the properties related to the plot and storyline and musical properties themselves. The paper examines the development of opera in modern realities, the phenomenon of hybridity and openness of the genre. The author focuses on the mixed nature of opera as a result of the search for new means of expression. The scientific novelty of the study lies in defining modern opera as a hybrid, mixed genre, which together with modern technologies, means of performance and interpretation creates new contexts of musical expression, temporality and imaginary space. As a result, it has been determined that the evolutionary movement of opera has a centuries-old history and has always consisted of the confrontation of the new and the conservative, the elitist and the democratic, while opera was able to absorb the “intonation vocabulary of a specific era” and remain viable.

Resumen
The location analytics industry has the potential to stimulate critical sociological discussions concerning the credibility of data analytics to enact new spatial classifications and metrics of socio-economic phenomena. Key debates in the sociology of geodemographics are revisited in this article in light of recent developments in algorithmic culture to understand how location analytics impacts the structural contexts of classification and relevance in digital marketing. It situates this within a locative imaginary, where marketers are experimenting with consolidating the epistemes of behavioural targeting, classification and performance evaluation in urban environments through spatial analytics of movement. This opens up future research into the political and cultural economies of relevance in media landscapes and the social shaping of valuable subjects by third-party data brokers and analytics platforms that have become matters of public and regulatory concern.

With the depiction of ethnic customs and the further cultivation of ethnic culture, the films of ethnic minorities in Xinjiang have formed a unique cultural system and cultural influence. The film Balloon, directed by Pema Tseden, has made multidimensional presentations and interpretations to the three orders theory of Lacan, that is the “the real order” from the original id, “the imaginary order” from the self-mirror and the “symbolic order” from the socio-linguistic and cultural system. It can be said that the Three Orders Theory enables the film Balloon directed by Pema Tseden to show the local culture of Xinjiang to the audience from an internal perspective of subjectivity and self-expression.

Resumen
The relevance of the problem of the article is connected not only with the interest of modern literary studies in its historical-literary, socio-literary, imagological aspects. It is also actualized by the global “friend-or-foe” conflict that has escalated in the 21st century. Of particular interest in this regard is the Siberian socio-cultural space, which has been formed and continues to be formed as a transboundary area as a result of constant migrations and interactions of different cultures, and Siberian literature, which reflects this complex reality in texts of different genres, types, and genera, and simultaneously forming it. A special place in the verbal culture of the region belongs to spiritual literature, initially the most important factor in the formation of the cultural landscape of Siberia, which authoritative philological works prove. However, the consideration of the heritage of the Siberian Orthodox clergy, taking into account the reflection in it of the transboundary nature of the cultural landscape of Siberia and its influence on the formation of the latter, has never become an object of scientific consideration. Defining Siberian spiritual literature as the object of research, the author means works in line with the Christian worldview created by the Siberian Orthodox clergy: representatives of the Russian Orthodox Church, most often transferred to Siberia from the central regions of Russia, as well as Orthodox missionaries traveling to Siberia and living there with the aim of spreading Christianity. The corpus of Siberian spiritual literature of the second half of the 19th century, which certainly expands our ideas about the composition and boundaries of Siberian literature of the pre-revolutionary period, reflects the construction of the Siberian socio-cultural space in a very peculiar way – within the framework of imaginary and social geography. In these texts, Siberia appears as a space personally perceived by the author, as a landscape generated by the perception of the text, and as an institutionally structured space in which literature is considered as one of the interacting socio-cultural fields, and therefore as an instrument for the formation of the cultural landscape of the territory (including its literary process), regional identity, and as an organizer of social interactions. According to the results of the analysis, the author argues that the presented model of reflection of the cultural landscape of Siberia in the spiritual Siberian literature allows expanding the concept “transboundary area”. The concept helps describe the most important characteristics of the landscape – multilayeredness and discreteness, as well as options for interactions within it, which are the most important factor in building this landscape, achieving its stability, preserving identity in conditions of constant transformations. It is also important to emphasize the material on which the proposed model was built – spiritual Siberian literature, which opens new pages in the history of the Siberian transboundary area.

Resumen
During the first three decades of the twentieth century, hundreds of thousands of Haitian agricultural laborers arrived in Cuba seeking employment in the expanding sugar industry. Historically, Haitian cane cutters were marginal and occupied the lowest socio-economic status in Cuban society. Until relatively recently, the maintenance of Haitian spiritual beliefs, music, dance, and language in Cuba were associated with rural isolation and poverty. Today however, the continuation of Haitian customs is no longer linked with isolation, but exactly the opposite: performance troupes, heritage festivals, art exhibitions, the circulation of religious specialists, collaborations with research centers and academia, endorsement by music promoters, and the tourism industry. Cubans of Haitian heritage have found innovative ways to transform the abject into the exotic, and are currently gaining a public voice in cultural production, particularly through folkloric performance.

Resumen
The creative personality potential is a person's personal characteristic, and not a plurality of her personal rice, human individuality is unique and unique, and its implementation involves the creation of a new, nonexistent previously. The characteristic of creative potential is to identify its own individuality, which is expressed in emotions, feelings. The creativity is always involved in the original and non-standard tools, they are combined with already existing, create new options, which are then used in practice. The realization of the creative potential of the individual is associated with the mechanisms of its intellectual, cognitive activity. Personality, which, in our opinion, is able to realize more own resources in their lives, which sets themselves aimed by far goals, produces a vital strategy, increases its creative potential. One of the factors of the development of the creative potential of the individual is a developed imagination. Forming an imaginary image, a person applies an existing preliminary experience, analyzes the situation, develops a direction of action, creates a new image, sometimes by accident. The components of the creative potential of the individual include her spirituality. In creative activity, a person realizes his ability, reveals the enormous possibilities of spiritual potential, which is especially important in our time, when a person is offered numerous vital self-determination and here it is important to carry out the correct choice, especially if applicable to value orientations.

In the digital age, languages and genes are subject to similar technical and economic issues and constraints. These biotechnological innovations disrupt cultural imaginaries and question the categorizations of life, between nature and culture, human and non human. Using the reflexive tools of semiology and linguistics, this doctoral work proposes to discover the field of genetics applied to the agronomic domain, looking for proximities language/gene, starting with an etymological and lexical semantic research up to an epistemological and structural one. The aim is to connect the two scientific and societal spheres and to lay the foundations of agrosemiology as an interdisciplinary approach based on the alliance of language sciences, life sciences and engineering sciences. The theoretical and methodological principles of the research are based on the modelling approaches of the Semiology of Indices and the Socio-cultural Imaginary developed by A.-M. Houdebine in the Saussurean lineage (Hjelmslev, Barthes), including Eco's contributions to the field. The interdisciplinary perspective also provides an opportunity to explore the biosemiotic theory inspired by Peirce. Two types of media discourses serve as illustrations and materials for the constitution of the foundations of what we call the Imaginary of Genetics: one concerns the GMO issue and the other, the bovine genetic selection. These analyses highlight the scientific ideals of genetics as well as the socio-cultural imaginaries that emanate from them. The affinities between genes and signs are involved in the structuring of fictions and collective idealizations, those that operated in the past during racist and eugenic periods, those expressed in current crisis discourses, and finally, those announcing future technological and societal challenges. These are the bases on which we identify and propose methodological elements for the agrosemiological research

In line with discussions highlighting the cultural dimension of translators' language training, this study is based on an observation: the constant failure of many applicants to pass the entrance exams to Europe's leading translation schools and offers to seek solutions to the problem. Several professional trainers identified the lack of awareness of cultural mediation during the language training for the candidates, as the key reason for the issue, however they did not indicate how to introduce the cultural mediation in the teaching of foreign languages and translation. It was therefore necessary to conduct a series of empirical studies in order to provide answers to the question. This study defends the idea that the development of the performance of cultural mediation, now required of future translators, is inconceivable without taking into account a specific treatment of the foreign ethno-socio-cultural imaginary. It presents a typology of the various ways in which this imaginary spontaneously and silently invites itself into different kinds of speeches and analyses the way in which this imaginary is addressed from a cultural mediation perspective in translation studies and didactics. A survey of 418 academics (teachers and students alike) identified elements that hindered successful training of translators as cultural mediators, and as a result, a number of suggestions were made to support this officially announced goal in Saudi universities, bearing in mind that these suggestions assign different conclusions to the ethno-socio-cultural approach, depending on whether the intended approach is aimed at a pedagogical or a professional training of translators

This research concerns, in its first part, the linguistic situation in Lebanon and the ability to analyze the position of the French language in relation to the other existing languages, in particular English. Beyond the context, we will also present the corpus followed by the rhetorical framework and the methodology. For this purpose, we relied on linguistic processes like linguistic borrowing, code-switching, calque and interference as well as central socio-linguistic concepts, in order to show how the author claims his original language through written language, including among others, the linguistic/cultural imagination and social representations. The second part emphasizes the phenomena of language contact and its use in Lebanese society, which has generated hybrid languages like “franbanais”. Furthermore, this work could prove the anchoring of the French culture and language in Lebanon. The third part of this thesis is devoted to the socio-semiotic study of articles and pictures, extracted from the OLJ journal, in order to show how different languages and cultures connect harmoniously in Lebanese media and how every language possesses its linguistic particularities related to the cultural representations of the linguistic community speaking that language. This review is concretely about the articles written by the journalist Azouri as well as the commentaries accompanied by pictures drawn by Phares. Regarding the pictures, we proceeded by a semiotic study in order to analyze the rapport between the text and the picture. Then, we convened the theories of Laurence Basin, Martine Holy and Roland Barthes, who take into consideration the symbolic and the polysemic aspect of the picture as well as the ideologic and cultural dimension of the receiver. Our research, which crosses different disciplines, proposes to emphasize the socio-cultural dimensions in the decryption of a presented message

My choice of twenty-eight films that span Italian cinema is predicated on the act of adultery, from the perspective of the advent of the threesome and the breaking up of the initial couple. I shall use cinema and sociology in close connection to try and show the evolution of the filming of lovers’ intimacy, throughout periods marked, among other things, by the influence of the Catholic religion on the behaviour of different protagonists. Relations outside of marriage are offered as “representations” which, according to José Moure, have “a dual value” that can come into the perception of both images and soundtracks, and meet both an “ethical” and an “aesthetic” standard

Resumen
At the end of the nineteenth century, the Balkans were animated by cultural movements and socio-political turmoil with the onset of the collapse of the empires. Around the same period, the proliferation of print media and the arrival of moving images gradually transformed urban life, and played an important role in the creation of national and regional cultures. Based on archival research that explores previously overlooked footage and early press materials, Early Cinema, Modernity and Visual Culture: The Imaginary of the Balkans is the first study on early cinema in the region from a transnational and cross-cultural perspective. This book investigates how the unique geopolitical positioning of the Balkan space and the multicultural identity of its communities influenced and shaped visual culture and the development of early cinema until World War I. It highlights how early moving images and foreign film productions contributed to the construction of Balkanist and semi-colonial discourses. Building on approaches such as ‘new cinema history’, ‘vernacular modernity’ and ‘polycentric multiculturalism’ to counter Eurocentric modernity paradigms and to reframe hierarchical relations between centres and peripheries, this monograph adopts an alternative methodology for interstitial spaces. Using the notion of the haptic, it examines the relationship between the new medium and regional visual culture. By doing so, it establishes new connections between moving image artefacts and print media, early film practitioners and intellectuals, the socio-cultural context and cultural responses to the new visual medium in the Balkan region.

This article analyzes the practice of ecocriticism in India. It explains that ecocriticism in the Indian context has a unique “advocacy function” both with regard to the reality of the world that it inhabits and “the imaginary spaces it opens up for contemplation of how the real world might be transformed.” It discusses the theories of nature in Indian philosophical schools of thought and mentions that nature is revered as prakriti or “the primordial vastness, the inexhaustible, the source of abundance.” This article also highlights the emerging trends in the socio-cultural spaces of India which call for imaginative ways of an ecocritical engagement with a contemporary ecological dharma.

Resumen
The Stillness of Solitude explores the Romantic connections between a selection of seven films from contemporary American filmmakers Sofia Coppola, Wes Anderson, Spike Jonze, and Charlie Kaufman. Linking the current socio-cultural moment, which has been described as ‘metamodern’, to the Romantic era, it describes how the Romantic relation to selfhood, intersubjectivity, and ‘being in the world’ informs the films studied. The first section of the book lays out the aesthetic argument, the second describes the role of imagination and emotion in creating that aesthetic, and the third explores narratives of personal growth and their relation to cultural history. The overall structure of the book traces the progression of Romantic thought and situates the films historically, while simultaneously engaging with an up-to-the-moment present. It explores gender, childhood, the artistic process, revolution, scepticism, the natural world, love, and death through specific discourses of contemporary film theory including aesthetics, cinematic metatextuality, feminist criticism, eco-criticism and animal studies, and ethical studies. It argues for the emergence of a particular strain of American ‘independent’ cinema that draws extensively on 1970s New Hollywood film in ways differing from 1990s ‘smart’ cinema, and considers how the films use both classical Hollywood and American/European arthouse cinema tropes to create an uneasy dialectic between the two, emphasising the anxieties of our own time, nostalgia for an imaginary past, and fear of an uncertain future.

The multiple facets of this volume belong to five large themes. The first theme, that of persuasion and manipulation, is studied here through electoral campaigns (i.e., mental filters used in voting manipulation, the mechanisms of vote mobilisation, manipulation and storytelling models). The institutionalization of education represents the second theme, approached here through specific interdisciplinary instruments: the intersection of higher education with public learning, the answers of the knowledge society to the issues of contemporary work problems, the institutional relationships used to solve educational problems specific to childhood and adolescence, as well as the role of media competencies in professional development. The third theme is related to the inheritance and transmission of cultural identity, instrumentalized through issues such as: the duty of intergenerational justice with regard to cultural heritage, education and vocational training in library science, the social inclusion role of public and digital libraries. The collective and cultural identity of communities represents the fourth large theme, being approached through a triple perspective: the philosophical background of restoring the political dignity of communities, the communication space as a point of a needle towards the community space, and the communicational issue of the European capital of culture programmes. Lastly, the fifth theme belongs to practical and applied philosophy, specifically philosophical counselling, debating issues such as: the identification of the communicational background for this type of counselling, the secular approach to the problem of evil from a philosophical counselling perspective, the discussion of Platon’s attitude towards suicide and of frank speech in the Epicurean school, the socio-anthropological perspective of immortality, as well as the formal approach of the relationship between real and imaginary.

Resumen
Reading Ecogothic depictions of nature from cultural traditions outside of Euro-America reveals how socio-ecological relations are inextricably bound up with hierarchies of race, class and gender, but also how environmental catastrophes intersect with wider geopolitical contexts such as imperialism. This chapter compares contemporary examples of ‘resource Gothic’ fictions that figure the socio-ecological violence of extractivism, plantation and ecological imperialism in postcolonial nations, including the sugar Gothic of Roger McTair’s ‘Just a Lark (or the Crypt of Matthew Ashdown)’ (2000), set in Jamaica, the oil Gothic of HelonHabila’sOil on Water (2010), set in Nigeria, and the toxic nuclear Gothic of Robert Barclay’s Meļaļ (2003), set in the Marshall Islands. It also examines Ecogothic aesthetics in contemporary television and video games, exploring the oil and sugar imaginary of the first season of HBO television series True Detective (2014) and the nuclear magnetism of Bethesda Game Studio’s Fallout 4:Far Harbor DLC (2016).

Resumen
The chapter attempts to look at food and its representation in media with a special focus on Punjab and its cuisine. The work locates important symbols pertaining to the food culture of Punjab in sites such as cookbooks and cinema, which interestingly mix traditional with contemporary representations of material life. The first section looks at the cultural expressions of Punjabi cuisine in cookbooks against the backdrop of the history of Punjab, its ancient ties, and cultural affiliations of the past. Questions of caste, gastro-ethnicity, and stereotyping are also examined. The second section attempts to review select Bollywood films in order to cast light onto the contemporary socio-cultural conceptions of Punjabi culture. The study concludes by observing the ways in which food emerges as a commodity spectacle through stories and ideas on the food of Punjab. The work is carried out in order to exemplify the role of food in the creation of a cultural imaginary and explore the subtle connection that food and food culture share with the multiple intersections of an individual's identity.

Resumen
Mary Butts’ examination of place derives its central vitality from a grounding in the landscapes of Dorset. Her attempts to re-enchant this world by drawing upon myth and mysticism often become ideologically problematic; her project is fundamentally ambivalent, combining a deep sense of attachment to her home region with a similarly strong desire to reinvent that area. Such reimaginings take complex forms: sometimes expressing a deracinated sensibility that reclaims rural England as a cosmopolitan zone in which marginalised socio-cultural groups can thrive; and emphasising the landscape’s animistic qualities. In such respects, the influence of modernity upon Butts’ distinctive vision of place is clear. In her later work, however, rather than blurring or transgressing boundaries, Butts draws upon her sense of living ‘in two worlds at once’ to create imaginary cultural, temporal and geographical realms that are beyond the influences and developments of her period, accessible only to initiates.

Resumen
This chapter recognises older bisexual intimacies as an example of cultural theorist Michel Foucault’s spatial concept of the ‘heterotopia’. Through this conceptual apparatus of the ‘heterotopic’ space, the chapter examines the paradoxical inclusion and exclusion of the older bisexual subject, and their sexual intimacies, within both institutional care home settings and wider socio-cultural spaces. In doing so, this chapter reflects on the subjectivity of the ageing bisexual and the ways that both bisexuality, as a complex identity category, and current institutional practice affects older bisexuals’ intimacies and sexual developmental needs. To contextualize this consideration, the article centres specifically on mononormative assumptions around monosexuality (the ideological assumptions that an older person is either homo- or heterosexual) within the social policies and institutionalized care home practices. This section will cite various case studies to explore this contradictory ‘heterotopic’ space, what the author describes as the ‘bitopia’ of later life, one inhabited by older bisexuals who are both included and excluded from the ‘post-sexual’ gay and lesbian imaginary (Foucault, 1967: 1; Simpson, 2017: 3).

Resumen
The objective of this study is to track how the various meanings of the Philippine bayan (nation) were communicated through music. First, an innovative theoretical framework is developed to map out how meanings of cultural texts are formed and how these meanings can shift and lead to political contentions and transitions. Thereafter, the framework is employed (1) to demonstrate how popular songs articulated the disparate ideals of the Philippine bayan and (2) to examine the different forms that the songs took across critical historical junctures. The findings indicate that the Filipino concept of bayan refers not only to a legal-political state independent from foreign control but to a socio-economic imaginary where every Filipino is maginhawa (fulfilled basic needs). Political actors deploy popular music to remind society of this, perennially subverting the existing order with uprisings like the so-called “People Power” revolutions until it is fulfilled.

Resumen
Chapter 5 examines ʿAbdīshōʿ’s justification of Christian devotional practice. It focuses on his discussion of the veneration of the Cross and the striking of a wooden percussion instrument known as the clapper in times of prayer. ʿAbdīshōʿ’s explanation of Christian cult affirms its validity in a socio-cultural environment that was sometimes at odds with it. The chapter situates ʿAbdīshōʿ’s apology within a contested visual and acoustic environment shared in by Muslims and Christians. In particular, Christian writers in the Islamic World contended with the accusation that the veneration and public display of the Cross constituted yet another form of idolatry, and that the sound of the clapper was offensive to Muslims and inferior to the call of the muʾadhdhin. In addition to providing scriptural testimony for the veneration of the Cross, our author appeals to a kalām-inflected language to explain the salvific nature of the Crucifixion and the cosmological significance of the Cross’s four points. Similarly, he invokes an instance where the call of the clapper features positively in a poetic sermon attributed to ʿAlī ibn Abī Ṭālib (d. 661), thereby invoking a common lettered tradition to legitimate an otherwise marginal practice. ʿAbdīshōʿ employs this sermon to illustrate how Christian sacred tradition is consonant with Muslim models of piety and repentance. ʿAlī’s importance in the Christian imaginary reveals how this shared lettered tradition was also trans-linguistic, since many of the ethical and moralizing themes of his sermon also emerge in ʿAbdīshōʿ’s Syriac poetry.

Resumen
Globalization influences the transformation of cities, they develop changes in their composition and form, related mainly to socio-cultural and economic aspects that converge in some cases in a gentrification of spaces where the right to the city is altered, modifying its structure according To processes related to postmodernity and neoliberal policies that generate various negative changes such as the displacement of the original settlers and the deterioration of areas to the maximum to further intensify its value. However they also present positive signs such as the revitalization and improvement of spaces with new proposals that generate jobs or in some cases become places of fashion, or important tourist spots. It shows a contrast of two cities in different continent and conditions as it is the case of the city of Mexico in several points: the historical center, Polanco, Granada and the colony Rome. And in the city of Valencia in Spain: the historical center, Russafa, the Ensanche and the Cabanyal. The theme focuses on a central land dispute to recycle urban spaces that give rise to diverse public spaces of private character with commercial functions, modifying the resignification of the space, increasing the inequality and the differentiation but at the same time generating traces of similarity. The objective is to evaluate how they have modified housing, real estate market, surplus value, social practices and identity. Said analysis from a new vision with projection towards the future, by means of a complex model, analyzing the urban imaginary.

Río Nuevo is an area that has been transformed to become a road infrastructure and urban facilities, scattered among vacant lots. It is the result of hegemonic decisions that follow the trend of urban development attentive only to modernize. This has violated local routines, traditions and places that are part of the collective memory of Mexicali, Mexico. This article deals with urban imaginary and socio-spatial practices in the public spaces of the area. The paper presents empirical evidence supported by the ethnographic method and visual analysis, recording that exposes the tensions generated by the allocation and appropriation of the city. It located in the field of urban socio-cultural studies; we observe how the area has become a landscape of nostalgia confronted with a landscape of power, unseen dispute on official maps.
