met en principe de s'affranchir des limites de solubilité, mais permet-elle un contrôle de la densité, la taille
moyenne et de la distribution de tailles des agrégats réalisés ? Nous avons étudié les effets de l'implantation :
écart à l'équilibre thermodynamique, et dépôt d'énergie générateur de porteurs (électrons et trous) chargés.
Nous montrons l'importance de l'oxydoréduction due au passage et à l'arrêt des ions, et faisons varier la
densité d'énergie déposée pour induire des conditions réductrices favorables à la précipitation d'agrégats
métalliques. Le mécanisme d'agrégation de Ag dans le verre est analogue à celui de la photographie. Nous
avons ensuite étudié la croissance d'agrégats de semiconducteurs composés - les chalcogénures de plomb
(PbS, PbSe, PbTe), aux propriétés optiques intéressantes. Nous mettons en évidence les effets complexes de
la chimie redox des chalcogènes, et leur lien avec la perte de contrôle de la croissance d'agrégats synthétisés
après implantation séquentielle de Pb et S. Nous développons une nouvelle synthèse contrôlée d'agrégats de
PbS consistant, avant recuit, à implanter du soufre dans des verres au Pb. Le choix de la composition du
verre permet de contrôler la croissance, et l'implantation de S permet d'atteindre des fractions volumiques
importantes. Les propriétés d'émission optique de ces agrégats dans l'infrarouge (vers 1,5 µm) font appa-
raître une section efficace d'excitation très importante et l'existence d'un niveau d'"exciton noir".

Texto completoThe work is an interdisciplinary framework, at the interface of the sol-gel chemistry, biology and physics of materials. First, we are interested to the study of a silica matrix obtained by sol-gel process from a mixture of colloidal silica and sodium silicate. The goal was to understand the interactions between the precursors and to study the effect of different synthesis parameters on the structure of the matrix in order to find the best optical and mechanical properties. These matrices have been extensively characterized using various techniques (UV-Visible absorption, IR, TGA, BET, NMR, TEM and SEM). This study allows us for the first time to choose final properties and to specify the initial combination to get them in terms of concentrations of precursors and pH. Next, we studied the effect of the matrix properties on the survival of photosynthetic encapsulated cells and we got phyco-compatible materials with a wide range of optical and mechanical properties. After precising the best synthesis conditions for the survival of microorganisms, one could proceed to study the functionality in the presence of toxic contaminants (heavy metals Cd (II) and Pb (II) and a polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon: anthracene) and we managed to get a functional biosensor. Interestingly, some specificity of detection could be obtained according to the combination of microalga / selected matrix

Texto completoThe high-lead glazes transparent or opalescent made by Bernard Palissy during the Renaissance still constitute technically inimitable works, so their chemical and thermal processes remain enigmatic. This project involves the study of glass compositions of the ternary SiO2-Al2O3-PbO to which Bernard Palissy added various coloring agents or opacifiers. After a fine multi-scale analysis of superficial glazes of archaeological samples (composition, thermomechanical properties, the interface glazes / ceramic substrate), we will try to reproduce them as accurately as possible in the laboratory by playing on raw materials, heat treatment conditions and ceramic support. The impact of the concentration of certain oxides such as Al2O3 on the glass structure (multi-spectroscopic approach), their microstructure (nature, distribution of crystals), their physical characteristics (viscosity, coefficient of expansion, color ...) and interaction with the substrate will be particularly studied. The approach combines in-depth analysis of an archaeological corpus and the reproduction of chemical systems and thermal processes. It will enable us to know the relevant indicators linked to the innovative processes and raw materials that allowed Palissy to obtain composites combining mechanical perfection (absence of cracking, remarkable interfacial cohesion) with that of realistic illusion. Finally, they will enable us to define criteria for the authentication of his works

Texto completoThis work is devoted to understand the effect of the formulation and more specifically of the precipitated silica on the resistivity of the PE-separators. The PE-separators are designed for the lead-acid batteries. PE-separators are composed of precipitated silica, ultrahigh molecular weight polyethylene (UHMW-PE) and organic oil. The first part of this work was to elaborate PE-separator models at a laboratory scale. Then, the factors impacting the structural and physico-chemicals properties of PE-separators were investigated. These factors are mainly the amounts of oil, precipitated silica, the grade of the precipitated silica, the temperature conditions of crystallization and the device used to elaborate the membrane. The influence of the amounts of oil and precipitated silica on the crystallization of the polyethylene wasthoroughly described showing that the oil helps to increase the final crystallinity of UHMWPE and that the silica plays a role of oil reservoir. Moreover, it was shown that the amount and the grade of precipitated silica have an influence on the wettable part of the porosity of the PE-separators. The coating of the pores by the precipitated silica is responsible of the wettability of the membranes by the electrolyte. Thus, an empirical parameter has been proposed in order to quantify the efficiency of the dispersion and distribution of the precipitated silica in the membrane. The more the membranes are wettable by the electrolyte the more the resistivity of the membranes is decreased. To finish, for a same amount of components and a same method of processing, it is possible to discriminate the efficiency of each grade of precipitated silica for the battery separator application

Texto completoThis study was aimed at evidencing the role of non-reactive interactions between ions and organic molecules in the primary adsorption mechanism, constituted by physi-sorption. The chosen conditions allow one, however, to roughly simulate some environniental situations where silica suspensions, e. G. Grains of sand, can exchange adsorbed pollutants with interstitial waters in sous or within a water sheet. Experiments were made on silica suspensions with, at first, lead nitrate and carbofuran solutions, then lead nitrate and naphthalene solutions and finally naphthalene and carbofuransolutions. One should note that the adsorption of one of the components is usually favoured by the presence of the other one and conversely. However, the water lying at the silica surface leads to non-straightforward effects: organic molecules have a far much lower affinity with this interface than with the water/air interface. Addition of a second organic molecule, i. E. Carbofuran, to the lead nitrate-naphthalene mixture apparently induced no drastic change in the position or richness of the naphthalene layer; on the other hand, carbofuran adsorption was greater than previously, and ionic adsorption was strongly enhanced. A rough application of the fundamental ideas developed in the Wagner-Onsager-Samaras model to these interfaces showed that electrostatic effects are responsible for this greater ionic adsorption and suggested that the structure of the inner organic double layer plays a major role in this result
