Texto completoThis thesis proposes a methodology to analyze the mechanisms of innovation in the service sector and their implications for regional development. This methodology is presented in three stages. As a first step, an analysis of the innovation process in the service sector is performed to better understand the functioning of innovation patterns and location choices within the sector. In a second step, a comparative econometric study of the determinants of innovation in services and industry conducted on the basis of Community Innovation Survey (CIS2008) data. This study provides insight on the one hand, the factors driving innovation in the service sector and, secondly, the main differences in innovation between services and industry. In a third step, a descriptive and econometric analysis of the determinants of innovation in services is performed for 31 French cities. This study allows to compare the impact of the determinants of different types of innovation (technological and non-technological) on the basis of local data.Finally, this work was originally undertaken on the basis of a comprehensive analysis of service activities, gradually focusing on Knowledge Intensive Service (IT, R & D, advertising, etc.) In view of their economic impact (in terms of employment and value added) and their relevance for innovation

Texto completoSfi1 is a recently discovered protein that is involved in cell division, with its specific role in the MTOC duplication in eukaryotes, a function also shared by centrins. Centrins are well conserved calciproteins in eukaryotes belonging to the EF-hand superfamily and they are involved in diverse cellular functions, like MTOC duplication, DNA repair and nuclear mRNA transport. The discovery of the interaction between centrins and Sfi1 led us to be interested in the structural and biochemical study of the complex Sfi1-centrin. Sfi1 has several centrin-linking motifs along its structure (each one able to link one centrin molecule). These repeated sequences have well conserved residues corresponding to the classical 1-4-8 centrin-link motif. This work is focussed on the understanding of individual and collective centrin linking to Sfi1. In order to achieve this, we have made NMR structural experiments with the C-terminus of HsCen2 complexed with a 20-residue peptide corresponding to repeat n°17 of hSfi1. These experiments have allowed us to understand the structural basis of the Sfi1-centrin binding. In parallel, biochemical studies have been made with a yeast Sfi1 (ScSfi1) domain that contains 6 repeats in a complex with yeast centrin (Cdc31). This complex, and some Sfi1 mutants made of it, have allowed us to explore the interaction characteristics of the centrin with several Sfi1 repeats

Texto completoThe Data Transport Subsystem (DTS) is a core subsystem of SFOC which holds together the GIFs, TISes, DMDs, DTVs and other SFOC application subsystems allowing them to operate in a distributed LAN based workstation environment. DTS does this by providing two primary features. The first feature is transparent local and remote interprocess communication. The communications interface is identical between two application subsystem processes whether they're running in the same machine or different machines. The second feature is the Logical Name Server, which makes connections on a name basis without regard to location or network topology. With these two features SFOC becomes a distributed system. Processes within a subsystem can even be distributed to perform load leveling and enhance system performance. Distribution fosters the use of redundancy and hot backups by allowing nodes to serve multiple purposes. Distribution allows isolation of mission telemetry while providing shared use of a common database. It supports the SFOC goal of off-the-shelf hardware expansion and upgrade. DTS provides an open-close-send-receive model of interprocess communication. It offers three types of service: virtual circuit, datagram and broadcast. The virtual circuit service supplies a full duplex path between communication endpoints and guarantees data integrity. The datagram service allows many communications endpoints to send to one endpoint. This is useful for sending status to a central process. The broadcast service allows a process to send to many receiver endpoints. This can be used for continuous monitoring of telemetry streams by multiple processes.

Texto completoThis study aims at using discourse analysis to analyze SFI students attitudes to religion and religiosity in an SFI-context. The questions are: How is the discourse constructed and maintained by religion and religiosity of SFI students in an SFI context? How do SFI participants experience that their religion has affected their time at SFI?
Using a case study approach, interviews were conducted with a group of SFI students. The results show that the religious discourse in SFI is influenced by the SFI-context and affected based on the current education discourse that exists there. Furthermore, the discourse is designed and maintained by the participants private religious beliefs and the religion of the majority of the group, One canhere speak of a strong social unit forming a plausibility structure The power structure that emerges is that the majority has the power to define the significance of religion and place within the SFI context.
In the SFI-context the participants view is that religion is something private that should not be expressed in the school environment. They express that they do not want to talk about religion among a collection of people from other cultures since one would not want to risk creating conflict.

Texto completoThe socialist federation SFIO of Finistère is born in 1908 after the implosion of the Federation socialist de Bretagne in five departmental federations. The socialists of Brest lead by Emile Goude, elected deputy in 1910 and by Hippolyte Masson, mayor of Brest since 1912, are the spearhead of the socialism in the department. The apogee is reached in 1926. Finistère, benefiting from the impetus born from the victory of the left-wing Cartel in 1924, but build during the years, which followed the separation of Tours, is then to the fourth rank regarding the number of sections at the national level. But the debate about the participation, coupled with quarrels of people between Goude and Masson reduces that to nothing. Goude leaves the federation en 1929. It recovers this fratricidal struggle only starting from the legislative elections of 1936 when we see on that subject the election to the Palais-Bourbon of Tanguy-Prigent, young countryman trained to the politics by the federal secretary Guy Le Normand. The war overshadows all that again. Guy Le Normand, whose attitude was ambiguous during these black years, is murdered in 1944 by Resistance fighters. Nevertheless, most federal executives enlist Resistance and Tanguy-Prigent, executive of the clandestine PS, is appointed minister of agriculture after the Liberation. The daily difficulties re-appear quickly. Socialist of Finistere are divided between the concern of answering the aspirations of their traditional electorate and the one of protecting Republic, born from the referendum of October 1946, from the Gaullist and Communist assaults. In spite of bragging effects, the socialist of Finistére does not stop, at price of some repudiations, defending the politics embodied by Guy Mollet. It is necessary to await for the General de Gaulle's controversial return in may 1958 to see Finistère taking part clearly in the rebellion which wins the PS over. Tanguy-Prigent leaves for the PSA in October 1959. The resignation is a bad loss for the federation. The sixties are then slow death throes. Often described as strong, Federation of Finistère yet lets the picture of e divided structure, materialised by the hypertrophy of the urban area of Brest or the tensions which episodically arise between the sections of the north and the south of the department. O = section francaise de l'internationale ouvriere) (the french section of the worker international), not according to its central machinery, but through its basic instances. Algeria is our space of research between 1920 and 1954, two important dates that mark two major events: the tours congress and the algerian insurrection. For the s. F. I. O, algeria was more an electoral reserve than a country that may adopt the socialist system some day. The algerian socialist federations participated in all the elections even if their chances of winning were mean. The natives were subject to a very little influence of socialism. However many muslims adhered to the socialist party in order to evade repression while they continued to believe in the algerian nationalist thesis. The latter choice was an answer to their desire to embrace a party, which represent for them the symbol of democracy and liberty of which they were deprived. Some of them left the s. F. I. O as early as it (the french section. . . ) did not answer these criteria. Some retreated from politics definitely while others rejoined the u. D. M. A led by ferhat abbas or the f. L. N later. The algerian socialists integrated the colonial model in their ideology. They justified their position by moral reasons and economic motivations. Their algerian policy had not changed for years. The opened gap between 1946-1947, which was meant to establish a status for algeria, not too different from the moderate algerian nationalists one, was filled because paul ramadier government's reticence and the repatriation of yves chataigneau, the governor general. In fact, the algerian socialists continued to support the idea of assimilation. From 1944 to 1947, they insisted on the application of the 7th march edict. The principle claim became the application of 20th september 1947 status. The socialists could in reality not adopt a policy other than the one proposed by the radicals and the socialist-radicals who were very influent in algeria. They were most of the time political partners and allied. In fact, the s. F. I. O. Was wedged up between these different parties and the communist party on the european side, the p. P. A and the u. Sfi(Swedish for immigrants) has been carried on as a separate educational programme,since 1965. According to the current syllabus, sfi should be a “bridge to life inSweden”. The county should also motivate everybody who is entitled to sfi to take partin the educational programme. Every year, a few female sfi- participants discontinuetheir education for different reasons. We got the information that a number of students,at a sfi- school in Malmö, had discontinued their education and restarted at a later date.The purpose of this paper is to describe and analyse how the life conditions of femaleimmigrants appear from their point of view, to be able to increase knowledge amongpersonnel who is involved in sfi-work, among them guidance counsellors. In our projectwe have chosen to use a life history research method, because it best fits our purpose,questions and aims of the project. Using life history research, one can get a deeperinsight into social phenomena and capture the particular perspective of life historynarratives. Our project has an ideographic which means that the focus is on descriptionand understanding. The schools activity, cultural collisions, rights and obligations,motivation, obstacles, family structures, language learning, contact with authorities anddiscrimination are the themes that underlie the women’s educational discontinuationand return.

Texto completoWith the advent of globalisation driving the People.s Republic of China to embrace its future, the local government has shown great enthusiasm promulgating one of the oldest industries. Foreign higher educational providers that operate in China through the mode of joint venture cooperatives between a Chinese and foreign institution of higher learning are becoming increasingly .knowledgeable-hungry. public or private universities and colleges. Such operations commonly known as Sino-foreign educational cooperatives
(SFEC), are hotly spawned on the mainland, enrolling Chinese students through the division of responsibilities, roles and resources. The Chinese party is mostly responsible for the hardware support, supplying facilities and logistics as the part of the bargain, whereas the foreign party provides the intellectual software of academic programs. The locus of this qualitative study aims to present and investigate a distinct phenomenon of learning in SFEC through the theories of sociocultural perspective encumbered in a transitional context; Sino-foreign (SF) graduates to other workplace communities. Without common interests of social interaction, co-participation, and transformation, SFEC are often discredited due to various factors. The learning aims will feature participative and transformative themes that feature qualitative and interpretive methods. Thus, this research involves interviewing four relevant participants from the likes of two Chinese nationals and two non-Chinese, and how they view learning in SFEC applied to a transitional context, the workplace. My furtherance of analysis will generally stress learning, co-participation and transformative learning in activities that circumvents discriminatory elements of artifacts, identity profiling, relationships, commitment and workplace employment for the necessary transition. In the initial research phase, it did seem that putting learning into community practice in China was essential. In the closing stages, thoughts will flow to the legitimisation of participative and transformative learning, which forms the backdrop of this original theme of research gathered through previous works of similar purview. Prawatt and Floden (1994) remark that knowledge, and the belief that knowledge is the result of social interaction and language usage, and thus is a shared, rather than an individual, experience. Presumably, my chosen theories frame the interactive and shared communal nature of the Chinese society and learning systems.

Texto completoIn the early 1990's, the United States Air Force (USAF)/Air Force Materiel Command (AFMC) Test and Evaluation (T&E) Mission Element Board approved the Single-Face-to-the-Customer (SFTC) concept to become more customer oriented and to provide more up-front planning by establishing single points of contact organized by mission areas rather than by test centers. The areas evolved to airframe-propulsion-avionics (A-P-A), armament/munitions, command-control-communications-computers-intelligence (C4I), electronic warfare (EW), and space. Use of the SFTC concept is required in formal USAF directives and details of the specific coverage for each mission area will be contained in mission area manuals. The primary mission of the SFTC Offices is to provide consulting services during initial T&E planning for new programs and major modification/product improvement programs and during T&E investment planning. Also, support is provided for T&E process advocacy, information repository services, and training on the SFTC concept. This paper discusses the USAF SFTC concept of operations and its status.

Texto completoThe purpose of this survey has been to investigate and contribute knowledge about how a few teachers describe language development teaching for students in SFI teaching track 1 and how they believe that the special needs teacher with language, writing and reading development can function as support in that work. The survey was conducted on an SFI education on track 1, with four teachers and five teaching groups in courses A-D. The survey empirics are based on five observations, a Diamond ranking and a focus group interview. The survey has had a qualitative approach with a sociocultural theory and a teaching model of The ABC of SFI teaching as support and basis for the empirical analysis. The teachers describe that their language development teaching is based on the students' knowledge and that by practicing speaking, listening, writing, reading and understanding in a multimodal and translanguaging way, they work for a language development teaching. The results also show that there is a need to have access to a special needs teacher of language, writing and reading development at SFI, as this is a complex teaching situation for both teachers and students in the SFI education. It also shows that the students' heterogeneous language background calls for a high level of proficiency in teaching on the teacher, who must relate to many native languages and its impact on language acquisition in Swedish as a second language. The result also shows that the teaching model of The ABC of SFI teaching as support is used in the observed teaching to some extent, but there is a need to work to implement it further. The results of the survey show that both teachers, language supporters and special teachers together can contribute to increasing knowledge about and counteracting the risk that both students and teachers end up in linguistic and pedagogical vulnerability.

Texto completoENGLISH ABSTRACT: Steel fibre reinforced concrete (SFRC) is the most prominent fibre reinforced concrete composite that was engineered to enhance the material’s post-cracking behaviour. In certain situations it is utilised to replace conventional reinforcement and considered to be more cost-efficient. The purpose of this research is to characterise the moment redistribution behaviour of a statically indeterminate SFRC structure with varying volumes of fibres, with the focus on the development of the moment redistribution accompanied by the rotation of the plastic hinges at the critical sections in the structure. The material properties were characterised with a series of experimental tests. The compression behaviour was obtained with uniaxial compression tests while the uniaxial tensile behaviour was obtained with an inverse analysis performed according to flexural test results. These properties were utilised to derive a theoretical moment-curvature relation for each SFRC member which supplied the basis for the characterised moment-rotation behaviour and the finite element analyses (FEA) performed on the statically indeterminate structure. Experimental tests were conducted on the statically indeterminate structure in laboratory conditions to validate the theoretical findings. For the different SFRCs the material properties in compression were similar, while it resulted in an increased tensile resistance with an increase in the volume steel fibres. The theoretical momentcurvature and moment-rotation responses also indicated an increased structural capacity and member ductility with an increase in the volume fibres. From the finite element analyses the computational moment redistribution-plastic rotation relations were obtained. It was found that the final amount of moment redistribution decreased with an increase in the fibre volume, but that the rotational capacity increased. It was found that the experimental moment-curvature and moment-rotation results correlate well with the theoretical predictions. Also, unexpected structural behaviour was observed, but the issue was addressed with applicable computational analyses which confirmed the possible causes. It was concluded that the computational moment redistribution approximations were reasonably accurate. A parameter study indicated that the crack band width differed among the different SFRC members.
AFRIKAANSE OPSOMMING: Staal vesel versterkte beton (SVVB) is die mees vooraanstaande vesel versterkte beton mengsel wat ontwikkel is om die materiaalgedrag na kraakvorming te verbeter. In sekere situasies kan dit gebruik word om konvensionele staal te vervang en lei soms to koste vermindering . Die einddoel van die studie is om die moment herverdeling gedrag te karaktiseer vir ‘n statiese onpebaalbare SVVB struktuur deur die invloed van verskillende volumes vesels en die rotasie kapasiteit by die kritieke posisies in ag te neem. Die materiaal eienskappe was geidentifiseer met ‘n reeks eksperimentele toetse. Die druk gedrag was geïdentifiseer deur eenassige druktoetse, terwyl die eenassige trek gedrag bekom is met die implementasie van ‘n inverse analise van die uitgevoerde buig toetse. Hierdie eienskappe is gebruik om die teoretise moment-kromming verhouding vir elke mengsel te bekom. Hierdie verhoudings word as die basis bestempel vir die teoretiese moment-rotasie verhouding en die eindige element analises (EEA) wat op ‘n staties onbepaalbare struktuur toegepas is. Eksperimentele toetse is op hierdie voorgestelde struktuur toegepas om die teoretiese verwagtings te verifieer. Dit is gevind dat die druk gedrag ooreenstem tussen die verskillende mengsels, alhoewel ‘n toename in die trek kapasiteit ervaar is met ‘n toename in die volume vesels. Die teoretiese momentkromming en moment-rotasie verwantskappe stel ook voor dat die strukturele kapasiteit en duktiliteit toeneem met ‘n toename in die volume vesels. Die teoretiese moment herverdeling-plastiese rotasie verwantskapppe is verkry deur middel van die eindige element analises. Dit is gevind dat die aantal moment herverdeling by faling afgeneem het vir ‘n toename in die volume vesels, maar dat dit to ‘n groter rotasie kapasiteit gelei het. Van die eksperimentele resultate is dit afgelei dat die teoretiese moment-kromming en momentrotasie verwantskappe goeie benaderings voorstel. Sekere invloede van die opstelling het daartoe gelei dat onverwagte strukturele gedrag bekom is, maar die moontlike invloede is verifieer met eindige element analises. Dit is afgelei dat die teoretiese beramings van die moment herverdeling gedrag redelik akkuraat is. ‘n Parameter studie het getoon dat die kraak spasiëring verskil tussen mengsels met verskillende volumes vesels.

Texto completoIn Sweden, many different languages are spoken in addition to Swedish and officially there is a multilingual norm. The National Agency for Education´s governing documents emphasizes how important it is to utilize all competencies that students possess. Despite this, there is at times a monolingual norm present in the Swedish education system in practice. SFI (Swedish for Immigrants) is an education for adult immigrants where all students have multilingual knowledge. The purpose of this thesis was therefore to investigate how SFI teachers express their attitude to translingual teaching and their view of the significance and function of the first language for teaching. The study was based on a phenomenological approach with qualitative interviews of eight SFI teachers from same municipal SFI school. These SFI teachers were also my colleagues. The analysis of the interviews examined various aspects of the SFI teachers’ statements about their students’ first language as a resource in teaching. The study looked for perceptions and perspectives that were reflected in what the teachers had to say about the subject. The most important results in the study showed that the statements from the teachers pointed towards a positive view on translingual teaching. Aspects that emerged were that the teachers considered that multilingualism had a positive impact when learning a second language and that the teachers’ statements expressed a belief in their students’ personal study responsibilities. However, the analysis of the teachers’ statements about their own multilingual teaching showed that the teachers added different meanings to the concept of multilingualism. There was a difference between the teachers’ statements regarding how they talked about what multilingualism was and what qualities must be met in order for teaching to be perceived as translingual.

Texto completoThe purpose of this study is to investigate sfi-teachers’ experiences of distance education in the spring of 2020. The study focuses on examining how digital tools were adapted to students’ differences, how communication with students was established and what teaching methods characterized sfi teachers’ distance education. By describing the transition to distance education caused by pandemics such as SARS and Covid-19, the challenges and opportunities that teachers face in the digital classroom environment are described. Thereafter, theoretical aspects of communication and the teacher’s role in creating relationships with students in the digital learning environment are highlighted. In order to understand the phenomenon of distance education in its entirety, further points of departure are presented that should be taken into account when such education is designed. This is an empirical study where method triangulation with both quantitative and qualitative studies. A total of 126 respondents responded to the online survey and six respondents participated in semi-structured interviews. The results indicate that the teachers’ approach to distance education during the pandemic, and the inequality in students’ digital competence and the students’ inadequate access to digital technology in connection with the transition, were decisive for how new teaching methods and teaching strategies were formed. Sfi teachers used the digital tools and digital resources that were already incorporated in the classroom education. Both synchronous and asynchronous communication were applied to a large extent, where synchronous communication was valued thanks to its similarity to the physical classroom layout and asynchronous communication because of the increased accessibility to teaching materials. The sfi teachers’ teaching challenges consisted of difficulties in being available to the students who needed support and in following up the students’ learning processes at a distance.
