Background: Positive behaviour support (PBS) is mandated under the Health Act 2007 as a recommended intervention for vulnerable adults experiencing distress in residential settings. There is limited investigation in effective implementation systems for this model of support. This paper provides a synthesis of the research exploring the use of a systemic model of PBS with adult populations. Methods: A systematic review of the literature was undertaken using COVIDENCE. The resulting studies were critically appraised using the quality assessment tool for reviewing studies with diverse designs (QATSDD) and were coded and analysed using an adapted version of the standard data extraction template on the Covidence platform. Results: Nine studies met the inclusion criteria and were published between 2003 and 2021 and are reported in respect to descriptive features, methodological rigour, treatment components, outcomes observed and recommendations for future research. Conclusions: There is a growing body of literature evidencing the efficacy of systemic applications of PBS in promoting quality of life outcomes and reducing problem behaviours and restrictive practices. However, few studies to date have focused on adult populations. The most frequently reported treatment component across the included studies was workforce development programmes. Recommendations for future research include scaling up of the interventions so that SWPBS might be applied regionally or nationally, with a view to embedding this culture into disability practice and building capacity across the state.

Cartographic setting – geographical maps, plans and routes are explanatory illustrations in works of literature and cinema. They enrich the action, intrigue and inform the reader/viewer. The landcard is necessary to visually assess the path of the characters who have heard the «call of wandering» in pursuit of the cherished goal (V. Propp, K. Vogler). At the same time, it is a plot-forming material that allows the authors, according to R.-L. Stevenson, to correct the vicissitudes of their stories. The article develops and analyzes the typology of artistic landcards. Conclusion: an artistic map-setting is necessary for studying the «geography of imagination» not only for art historians and cultural scientists, but also for representatives of such creative professions as writers, screenwriters, literary and film editors.

Literature in the history of psychology that had been published from 1975 through 1986 was identified in Psychological Abstracts (1975–1988). From each of the 1478 publications information was obtained on the historical setting of the narrative and the geographical location of the (first) author. Austria, Germany, and the United States were the most often chosen settings, and these three accounted for 43% of the settings chosen. Scholars in Mexico, Japan, and the USSR were the most likely to choose their own country as the historical setting (i.e., “ethnocentric”), and those in Canada were the least ethnocentric.

ABSTRACT The target-setting literature has primarily focused on motivation issues in relatively simple single-task settings. I argue that performance targets also play an important role in addressing other issues such as multi-tasking, information asymmetry, retention, rent extraction, commitment, and coordination in multi-agent settings. Broadening the scope of the literature can help reconcile the theory and empirical evidence on how organizations set and revise performance targets. Moreover, a broader scope can help motivate emerging work on target-setting choices such as the number of targets for each performance dimension, concavity or convexity of target-based contracts, relative target difficulty for different performance dimensions, and coordination and disclosure of targets in multi-agent settings.

With the progress of society and economy, the optimization setting of child literature courses in preschool education major has become increasingly popular. Curriculum optimization setting provides support for the effective inheritance of child literature. Numerical analysis is used to optimize the setting of child literature courses for preschool education majors, mainly by using the obtained data for the input of numerical analysis, collecting data from the “similar dataset” according to children’s daily language, and calculating the adjacent data in the dataset and evaluating child literature in preschool education while predicting the accuracy of curriculum optimization settings and making personalized recommendations for children’s interests according to the children’s numerical analysis results that are modified with the change of children’s interest over time. Finally, the results of the experiment indicate that the proposed algorithm for numerical analysis requires less time than other algorithms in the process of optimization for setting of child literature courses for preschool education majors, thereby ensuring more effective optimization of curriculum settings. Finally, the case study results suggest that the proposed method is effective in enhancing students’ interdisciplinary teacher skills, cultivating interdisciplinary teacher talents, improving students’ application and innovation capabilities, driving the development of disciplines, and serving the national cultural development strategy.

This article examines 15 works of fiction written in English for children and young adults which have a Namibian setting. The earliest was published in the 1920s and the latest in 1998. The books are examined in order to ascertain what the Namibian setting has contributed: whether the authors have engaged with the history of the country; what they make of the setting; and whether there are any particular plots and themes that emerge.A notable trend in the English-language books published after the 1960s is that they focus on the personal growth of the protagonists. Rather than serving as a background for adventure, as the earlier books did, the Namibian settings and social circumstances serve as catalysts for psychological drama, while the landscapes with their flora and fauna play out as objective correlatives to the characters’ interior struggles. In keeping with this subject matter, the writing is usually sensitive and lyrical.

Background: Electronic Health Record (EHR) utilization has been improved nowadays and it is believed that the adoption of Information Technology (IT) that has been implemented in various setting may also accelerate qualified implementation in health care setting. This study aimed to evaluate EHR utilization in various settings by systemic literature review. Methods: systemic literature research was conducted with keywords “(evaluat* model OR evaluat* framework) AND (health professional* OR health staff*) AND (electronic health record OR EHR) AND (us* OR engagement OR implementation OR adoption) AND hospital”. Result: 833 literatures found at the beginning of literature search, after apply limitations, remove duplicates and exclude of irrelevant literatures, finally total 7 articles were included in the review. Conclusion: there are benefits and drawbacks of EHR utilization among health professional in different healthcare settings in some countries that included in this review. Some health professionals had positive experience of using EHR that its use can improve clinicians’ involvement, better clinicians’ representation and decrease workload. Meanwhile, others had different views that EHR use are ineffectiveness due to inability of the systems to meet users’ need, poor integration with existing workflows, poor IT skills among users and limited resources and training of EHR. Recommendation: Therefore, it is important to improve better design of EHR system with customized functionalities so it could improve the implementation and adoption of EHR by health professionals as end user.

AbstractBackgroundAlthough the majority of Australian intensive care paramedics use the manual intraosseous infusion technique (MAN-IO), several other semiautomatic devices now are available, such as the bone injection gun (BIG) and the semiautomatic intraosseous infusion system (EZ-IO). Given the choice of devices now available, questions have been raised regarding success rates, accuracy, decay of skills, and adverse events.ObjectivesReview the literature regarding the use of intraosseous (IO) devices in the prehospital setting.MethodsSelected electronic databases (Medline, Embase, and CINAHL) were searched, and a hand search was conducted for grey-literature that included studies from the commencement of the process to the end of May 2010. Inclusion criteria were any study reporting intraosseous insertion and/or infusion (adult and pediatric) by paramedics in the prehospital setting.FindingsThe search located 2,100 articles; 20 articles met the inclusion criteria. The review also noted that use of IO access (regardless of technique) offers a safe and simple method for gaining access to the patients’ vascular system. A number of studies found that the use of semiautomatic devices offers better and faster intraosseous access compared with the use of manual devices, and also were associated with fewer complications. The findings also suggest that the use of semiautomatic devices can reduce insertion times and the number of insertion attempts when contrasted with the use of manual insertion techniques. Despite these findings, statistically no specific IO device has proven clinical superiority.ConclusionWhile manual IO techniques currently are used by the majority of Australian paramedics, the currently available evidence suggests that semiautomatic devices are more effective. Further research, including cost-benefit analyses, is required at a national level to examine skill acquisition, adverse effects, and whether comparative devices offer clinically significant advantages.OlaussenA, WilliamsB. Treatment of conduct problems in the home setting has received much attention in the literature, and there are well established, empirically derived treatment programs that have been demonstrated to be effective. However, treatment for conduct problems in the classroom has not received a comparable amount of attention, and the intervention programs are diverse, occasionally lacking empirical support, and often not consistent with strategies used in the home setting. As past research has demonstrated that conduct problems in multiple settings is related to poorer prognosis, it is logical to suggest that interventions should focus on as many of the settings as possible in which a child displays the behaviour problems. This paper reviews the literature on the effects of conduct problems in the classroom, on teacher managerial skills, and on interventions across the home and school settings. It is concluded that classroom management of conduct problems could be improved by providing a hierarchical system of intervention strategies.

The purpose of this review is to discuss how agenda-setting theory changes in the context of social media. Explore the influence and setters of social agenda-setting. A total of 75 social media agenda-setting studies on socio-political topics after 2015 were reviewed. The results show that the social media agenda does appear to be independent of the traditional media agenda. However, its influence is far less than the traditional media agenda, and the reverse influence is rarely achieved. The social media agenda-setters are still elite, not representative of the public agenda.

Daniel Diez Couch, “Setting Fires with Hawthorne: ‘Earth’s Holocaust’ and Book Burning in Nineteenth-Century America” (pp. 87–113) Nathaniel Hawthorne burned pages and pages of his own writing over the course of his life and investigated the topic in two tales, “The Devil in Manuscript” (1835) and “Earth’s Holocaust” (1844). While the former borrows from his own life experiences, the latter presents a cataclysmic vision of the destruction of all literature. Yet Hawthorne does not offer a typical lament—based in liberal ideologies of the progress of knowledge and the sanctity of the written word—for the all-consuming holocaust. Rather, he argues that the pyre yields a transformative and unexpected effect on the aesthetic and temporal qualities of the texts. Drawing on contemporary accounts of book burnings, Hawthorne generates a productive vision of the act by which the fire transforms texts into a visible spectacle of beauty. “Earth’s Holocaust” thus offers an aesthetic avenue for understanding literary bonfires. Moreover, Hawthorne rejects the premise that such events end the temporal lifecycle of texts. Throughout the tale, he contends that even though book burnings will occur time and again regardless of human reformation, books can surpass the effects of the flames even if such a process only occurs imaginatively. In the dematerialization of books—in turning them from a complete, bounded whole into embers and particles of dust—Hawthorne finds a redemptive energy.

The performance of optimization algorithms, and consequently of AI/machine learning solutions, is strongly influenced by the setting of their hyperparameters. Over the last decades, a rich literature has developed proposing methods to automatically determine the parameter setting for a problem of interest, aiming at either robust or instance-specific settings. Robust setting optimization is already a mature area of research, while instance-level setting is still in its infancy, with contributions mainly dealing with algorithm selection. The work reported in this paper belongs to the latter category, exploiting the learning and generalization capabilities of artificial neural networks to adapt a general setting generated by state-of-the-art automatic configurators. Our approach differs significantly from analogous ones in the literature, both because we rely on neural systems to suggest the settings, and because we propose a novel learning scheme in which different outputs are proposed for each input, in order to support generalization from examples. The approach was validated on two different algorithms that optimized instances of two different problems. We used an algorithm that is very sensitive to parameter settings, applied to generalized assignment problem instances, and a robust tabu search that is purportedly little sensitive to its settings, applied to quadratic assignment problem instances. The computational results in both cases attest to the effectiveness of the approach, especially when applied to instances that are structurally very different from those previously encountered.

Although chimeric antigen receptor (CAR)-T cell therapies are typically administered in the inpatient setting, outpatient administration is rapidly expanding. However, there is limited summarized evidence comparing outcomes between outpatient and inpatient administration. This systematic literature review aims to compare the safety, efficacy, quality of life (QoL), costs, and healthcare resource utilization (HCRU) outcomes in patients with hematological cancer who are administered CAR-T therapy in an outpatient versus an inpatient setting. Publications (2016 or later) that reported the outcomes of interest in patients treated with a CAR-T therapy in both outpatient and inpatient settings, or only the outpatient setting, were reviewed. In total, 38 publications based on 21 studies were included. Safety findings suggested the comparable frequency of adverse events in the two settings. Eleven studies that reported data in both settings showed comparable response rates (80–82% in outpatient and 72–80% in inpatient). Improvements in the QoL were observed in both settings while costs associated with CAR-T therapy were lower in the outpatient setting. Although unplanned hospitalizations were higher in the outpatient cohort, overall HCRU was lower. Outpatient administration of CAR-T therapy appears to have comparable outcomes in safety, efficacy, and QoL to inpatient administration while reducing the economic burden.

Resumen
One of the most common stressors is so-called “occupational stress.” It is defined as the sum of physical, mental and physiological responses to work in situations where the workload or stress associated with it intensifies for an extended period of time. It is a gradual process in which individual cognitive assessments of occupational stressors generate adverse health events and may lead to burnout. Since it has become a major problem in the medical field, studying, measuring and limiting it have been set as goals for the future. We present a literature review on the topic of measuring stress using non-invasive means, such as cardiac indices measured through different devices, electrodermal activity, skin temperature, and salivary biomarkers. A virtual reality simulation could be used in conducting such experiments in order to provide a standardized environment with set variables for researchers to discern the most precise indices to be used in a real-life setting.

Background: Numerous studies call for the identification and engagement of evaluation champions in the implementation of an evaluation initiative. However, no agreed definition of an evaluation champion exists in the extant literature. Published studies on evaluation champions are limited and motivations of evaluation champions are not well understood. Understanding of how evaluation champions interact with their colleagues to generate momentum for change is lacking. Purpose: This article explores champions in organizational settings and highlights the need for an increased understanding of evaluation champions. The research question posed is, ‘What does the literature tell us about evaluation champions in organizational settings?’ Setting: Not Applicable. Intervention: Not Applicable. Research Design: Relevant articles were identified through systematic searches of selected databases and reference reviews of retrieved articles from the evaluation and organizational development bodies of evidence. Theories that could assist with understanding the role of evaluation champions were also drawn upon. Data Collection and Analysis: Not Applicable. Findings: The analysis indicates evaluators and organizations value champions because they work to bring evaluative thinking into their practice and positively promote evaluation among their colleagues. A list of activities that may be indicative of the behaviours of champions has been compiled to contribute to the evidence base. Toothbrushes are commonly used in hospital settings and may harbor potentially harmful microorganisms. A peer-reviewed literature review was conducted to evaluate the cumulative state of knowledge related to toothbrush contamination and its possible role in disease transmission. A systematic review was conducted on adult human subjects through three distinct searches. The review resulted in seven experimental and three descriptive studies which identified multiple concepts related to toothbrush contamination to include contamination, methods for decontamination, storage, design, and environmental factors. The selected studies found that toothbrushes of healthy and oral diseased adults become contaminated with pathogenic bacteria from the dental plaque, design, environment, or a combination of factors. There are no studies that specifically examine toothbrush contamination and the role of environmental factors, toothbrush contamination, and vulnerable populations in the hospital setting (e.g., critically ill adults) and toothbrush use in nursing clinical practice.

Biocultural approaches to restoration, which recognize the unique ways of understanding of socioecological challenges by Indigenous and local communities, have gained traction in recent decades. Yet, less attention has focused on biocultural opportunities where there is no Indigenous population or traditional knowledge to draw upon. This ethnographic study inductively assesses data gathered from interviews with farm owners on Isabela Island in the Galápagos Islands, where human presence is a function of recent migration. These interviews, corroborated with archival information and participant observation, center on farmer attitudes regarding restoration of Scalesia cordata, a highly endangered plant species, endemic to Isabela. The resulting analysis identified four themes of overlap with the biocultural restoration literature: cultural keystone species, sense of place, informational pathways, and recognition of socio-ecological feedback loops. Findings indicate that Scalesia remains a valued cultural keystone species providing tangible and intangible benefits to local residents, and its survival serves as a metaphor for farmers’ own wellbeing. Thus, even locations where place-based knowledge by a native population is not evident, critical biocultural elements exist that can be integrated into restoration efforts. Farmers also exhibited clear connections between restoration and tourism in Galápagos, paving the way for the application of biocultural theory to the analysis of tourism-supported restoration efforts elsewhere.

Resumen
This study aimed to analyze the types of setting and to discuss of how the setting constructs the plot. The data of this study were taken from Sherlock Holmes movie. The theories used in this study are theory proposed by Kenney (1966) to determine the setting of the movie and the theory proposed by Klarer (2004) to analyze the plot construction. Based on Kenney’s theory, setting can be divided into two types, namely: neutral setting and spiritual setting. The findings of this study related to the neutral setting showed there are 3 types such as setting of place was found 20 (62,5%), setting of time was found 4 (12,5%) and setting of environment was found 6 (18,75%). As for spiritual setting, it was found only 2 (6,25%). Furthermore, based on the analysis of how the setting constructs the plot in the movie, it can be concluded that the data for the construction of plot there are 4 types which are exposition was found 1 (10%), complication was found 4 (40%), climax was found 4 (40%) and resolution was found 1 (10%).

Carcinoma occurring the setting of chronic calcific pancreatitis (CCP) are usually multifocal, poorly differentiated, advanced on presentation and associated with poor overall survival. Hence it is imperative that these patients should be identified in the early stages of malignant progression where by curative resection can then be employed. If not, only palliative approaches are feasible in advanced stages. We wish to present our experience of pancreatic carcinoma in the setting of CCP along with a review of literature.

Introduction: Neuroblastomas are rare neoplasms with the potential to express paraneoplastic syndromes. Case Report: We report the case of a 77-year-old male with biopsy-confirmed unresectable anterior mediastinal neuroblastoma with symptomatic hyponatremia likely due to paraneoplastic syndrome of inappropriate antidiuretic hormone (SIADH). He had multiple inpatient admissions for symptomatic hyponatremia over the 3-year period that we examined, with a paucity of admissions during chemoreduction with adjuvant radiation therapy. Due to the rarity of this tumor, there is no standard treatment protocol and the literature regarding these neoplasms exists primarily as case reports. Conclusion: This case report adds to the existing literature detailing paraneoplastic SIADH in the setting of mediastinal neuroblastoma in adults and highlights the importance for oncologists to be cognizant of this syndrome as a complication of a particular rare malignancy.

The review analyzes the various studies that have used the scale, discusses its reliability and validity, and how it is scored. Overall, the review suggests that the Academic Motivation Scale is a useful tool for measuring student motivation, but more research is needed to further validate its use in different educational Settings.

There is a large literature on semiparametric estimation of average treatment effects under unconfounded treatment assignment in settings with a fixed number of covariates. More recently attention has focused on settings with a large number of covariates. In this paper we extend lessons from the earlier literature to this new setting. We propose that in addition to reporting point estimates and standard errors, researchers report results from a number of supplementary analyses to assist in assessing the credibility of their estimates.

Objective: To describe the process underpinning the development of clinical guidelines for the management of behavioural disturbance in psychosis. Method: A structured process was followed, encompassing a literature review, focus groups with key staff, and pilot testing and monitoring of the guidelines in an acute psychiatric setting. Results: The process was well accepted by staff and was found useful in monitoring outcomes in a naturalistic setting. The final guidelines proved safe and effective in the acute setting. Conclusions: The incorporation of a monitoring system for interventions for the management of behavioural disturbance in acute psychiatric settings is beneficial for staff and patients alike.

Research on digital learning environments has traditionally applied either an individual perspective or a social perspective to learning. Based on a literature review, we examined to what extent individual or social perspectives determined the learning outcome variables that researchers have used as measurements in existing studies. We analyzed prototypical approaches to operationalize learning settings (individual vs. social) published in peer-reviewed journals and identified their relation to several measures of learning outcomes. We rated n = 356 articles and included n = 246 articles in the final analysis. A total of 159 studies (64.6%) used an individual learning setting, while 87 studies (35.4%) used a social learning setting. As learning outcome measures, we observed self-reports, observable behavior, learning skills, elaboration, personal initiatives, digital activity, and social interactions. The two types of learning settings differed regarding the measurement of elaboration and social interactions. We discuss of the implications of our findings for future research and conclude that researchers should investigate further measures of learning outcomes in digital learning settings.
