Texto completoThis study investigated the acceptance of changes in the characteristics of a service by the provider, and its effects on the generation of innovations in software services. This problem was operationalized in the form of the construct Willingness to Change in Services - WCS, for which it was developed an enquiry of its explanatory dimensions, with the completion of semi-structured interviews with experts in software services in ten brazilian cities. Seven dimensions were associated to the construct and gave rise to a measurement scale for WCS, which was submitted along with a scale to measure innovation in services in 351 Brazilian companies that develop software services. The scale of WCS underwent semantic validation by experts and factorial, latter performed with the application of an Analysis of Exploratory Structural Equations Modeling of the data obtained with the application of the scales in the sample companies. A Linear Regression test was performed in order to explore the relation between WCS and SI. The results show no significant relation within the Linear Regression tests performed between the constructs. It was understood that the analysis examined the linear relation between the constructs, which was not confirmed, but it did not test the existence of nonlinear or indirect relations. Therefore, it is understood that there might be intermediate phenomena or processes between change and innovation in services yet to be mapped

Texto completoIn the 70's, the colleges of health in Brazilian universities have developed various actions in the area of primary health care - in doing so, they got involved in the health system with the aim to contribute to the prestations of the population. At the same time, the training of medical and paramedical staff became more relevant. This collaboration rapidly turned out into terms of conflict or of solidarity opposing or uniting institutions and protagonists. These confrontations led to a marginalization of groups defending a social medicine while allowing the creation of a field for political struggles aiming to transform the health system. In this field, two trends appeared : firstly the strength of the contest of each institution, and secondly, the strategic stakes of the protagonists whose personal, professional or ideological interests played a fundamental role either directly or indirectly in contributing to make people with no means of support benefit from primary health care. This sphere of activity materialized through plans of comminatory actions in which the University of Minas Gerais had a long experience. A research on this university has shown that even if concepts in socio-medicine have remained peripheral in the institutional, they have nevertheless led to the creation of institutional networks composed of peripheral protagonists who, by defending these concepts, have set up a new power which helped to the field

Texto completoCompetition in the international markets has always been a matter for very large and multinational companies. However, the emergence of new technologies, the economic deregulation and globalization have opened opportunities for different players. This scenario has affected the way companies approach the international markets, sometimes in opposition to traditional models of the internationalization process. Our research exams the Brazilian software and IT services companies taking two theories into account, the Uppsala model and the Born-global model, trying to identify which firms corresponds better to one or another model and which factors make them different. Our conclusion shows that the phenomenon “born-global” is present in Brazil and that some factors really differentiate the two types of companies. Finally, based on the factors of differentiation we have found, we propose a probabilistic model of occurrence for a born-global company

Texto completoThe particularities of services influence different elements on the innovation process. Although, the characteristics of the sector urge some questions related to research and development (R&D) activities. In this sense, we try to clarify the influences of these particularities in the characterization and definition of the dynamics of its R&D activities. Based on study cases from Brazilian and French university hospitals, this thesis tries to explain four convergent points. First, based on the definition of the product of services as a set of vectors, we propose an association between the dynamic of competences and different methods of knowledge processing, in a systematic way and with the purpose of solving scientific and technological uncertainties. Second, we associated service operations to the vector of technical characteristics. Third, the diversity of actors that compose the guiding forces of these dynamics was analyzed. Finally, some characteristics related to the R&D and innovation process were identified. The results demonstrated that the competences involved in the process of creating and increasing the stock of knowledge have theoretical and practical characteristics, but also organizational and relational ones. These competences, linked to a series of actors, trigger different service operations, which will support the knowledge processing. Therefore, it was possible to discuss some characteristics related to the R&D process and the different models of innovation found
