Texto completoAs a part of this thesis, we exceed the description of web services to consider their structure as networks (i.e. similarity and interaction web service networks). We propose methods based on patterns, topic models and formal concept analysis, to improve the quality of discovered services. Three contributions are then proposed: (1) diversified services discovery, (2) services recommendation and (3) consistency of detected communities. Firstly, we propose modeling the space of web services through networks. To discover the diversified services corresponding to a given query, we propose a probabilistic method to diversify the discovery results based on relevancy, diversity and service density. In case of complex requests, it is necessary to combine multiple web services to fulfill this kind of requests. In this regard, we use the interaction web service network and the diversity notion in graphs to identify all possible services compositions. We also propose a new hybrid recommendation system based on both content and collaborative filtering. Its originality comes from the combination of probabilistic topic models and pattern mining to capture the maximal common semantic of a set of services. Finally, instead of processing individual services, we consider a set of services grouped into service communities for the recommendation. We propose in this context, a new method combining both topology and semantics to evaluate the quality and the semantic consistency of detected communities, and also rank the detection communities algorithms

Texto completoThe works on web services management use generally the techniques of information retrieval, data mining and the linguistic analysis. Alternately, we attend the emergence of the probabilistic topic models originally developed and utilized for topics extraction and documents modeling. The contribution of this thesis meets the topics modeling and the web services management. The principal objective of this thesis is to study and propose probabilistic algorithms to model the thematic structure of web services. First, we consider an unsupervised approach to meet different tasks such as web services clustering and discovery. Then we combine the topics modeling with the formal concept analysis to propose a novel method for web services hierarchical clustering. This method allows a novel interactive discovery approach based on the specialization and generalization operators of retrieved results. Finally, we propose a semi-supervised method for automatic web service annotation (automatic tagging). We concretized our proposals by developing an on-line web services search engine called WS-Portal where we incorporate our research works to facilitate web service discovery task. Our WS-Portal contains 7063 providers, 115 sub-classes of category and 22236 web services crawled from the Internet. In WS- Portal, several technologies, i.e., web services clustering, tags recommendation, services rating and monitoring are employed to improve the effectiveness of web services discovery. We also integrate various parameters such as availability and reputation of web services and more generally the quality of service to improve their ranking and therefore the relevance of the search result

Texto completoThe quality in processing health products is a pillar of infection prevention and control related to healthcare-associated infections (HAI). To evaluate these practices, quality indicators in health have been used to identify results and establish conformity rates. Indicators were developed to evaluate the hospital processing of dental-medicalhospital supplies (SÃO PAULO, 2006), but with the expansion of non hospital care and incipient publications on control and prevention of HAIs in these places, there is the need to use indicators in primary care. The present study therefore aimed to adapt and validate these indicators for use in the primary health care (PHC). It was used validation by expert consensus, with the participation of eleven judges. The adapted and validated instrument for use in PHC consists of nine indicators and components, being the main changes from the original, the inclusion of dental professionals in the supplies processing, the classification of Central Sterile Supply Departments (CSSD) in the PHC as Class I, the occurrence of chemical disinfection and the ratification of the sterilization using only moist heat. It was concluded that the established indicators for hospital use, after adaptation and validation, can be used in the PHC to evaluate the quality of the product processing. This is undoubtedly one of the priority measures for qualification and to advance in actions to control the HAI in these places.

Texto completoThis manuscript provides the basis for a complete chain of document analysis for a whistleblower service, such as GlobalLeaks. We propose a chain of semi-automated analysis of text document and search using websearch queries to in fine present dashboards describing weak signals. We identify and solve methodological and technological barriers inherent to : 1) automated analysis of text document with minimum a priori information,2) enrichment of information using web search 3) data visualization dashboard and 3D interactive environment. These static and dynamic approaches are used in the context of data journalism for processing heterogeneous types of information within documents. This thesis also proposed a feasibility study and prototyping by the implementation of a processing chain in the form of a software. This construction requires a weak signal definition. Our goal is to provide configurable and generic tool. Our solution is based on two approaches : static and dynamic. In the static approach, we propose a solution requiring less intervention from the domain expert. In this context, we propose a new approach of multi-leveltopic modeling. This joint approach combines topic modeling, word embedding and an algorithm. The use of a expert helps to assess the relevance of the results and to identify topics with weak signals. In the dynamic approach, we integrate a solution for monitoring weak signals and we follow up to study their evolution. Wetherefore propose and agent mining solution which combines data mining and multi-agent system where agents representing documents and words are animated by attraction/repulsion forces. The results are presented in a data visualization dashboard and a 3D interactive environment in Unity. First, the static approach is evaluated in a proof-of-concept with synthetic and real text corpus. Second, the complete chain of document analysis (static and dynamic) is implemented in a software and are applied to data from document databases

Texto completoAlthough elementary number theory topics are closely linked to foundational topics in number and operations and are prevalent in elementary and middle grades mathematics curricula, little is currently known about how students and teachers make sense of them. This study investigated pre-service elementary teachers' developing understanding of elementary number theory topics, including factors, divisibility, greatest common factor, and least common multiple. Fifty-nine participants in a college mathematics course for pre-service elementary teachers participated in a three-week unit of instruction on number theory. All participants completed the Number Theory Knowledge Test (NTKT) before and after instruction. Additionally, individual clinical interviews were conducted with six participants before and after instruction. Each interview was recorded and transcribed. In order to describe how participants' understanding of number theory developed during instruction, analysis of the interview data was done using Dubinsky's (1991) APOS theory. Results showed that the most notable changes were in participants' attention to prime factorization, their notions of factor, and their abilities to coordinate multiple processes. Prior to instruction, participants' understanding was characterized by a need to convert prime factored numbers into decimal form, the notion of factor as a number that is visible within the prime factorization of another number, and an inability to coordinate multiple processes. Following instruction, participants attended to a number's prime factorization in order to solve problems, identified factors as combinations of prime numbers within the prime factorization of another number, and coordinated multiple processes. Statistical analysis of the NTKT scores supported the interview data, showing that participants significantly improved in their performance on questions requiring both procedural and conceptual knowledge. Contrary to prior research, this study provides evidence that pre-service elementary teachers can develop a deep and connected understanding of number theory topics. Future research should continue to investigate pre-service teachers' understanding of number theory by examining their work during periods of classroom instruction. Additionally, mathematical tasks that attend to prime factorization as a foundational tool should be investigated for their effects on pre-service teachers' understanding of number theory.

Texto completoThe knowledge that every child is a subject of rights is historically recent in Brazil. The current paradigm, based on human rights, advocates the end of exploitation and any other type of abuse in this stage of life. However, the phenomena still occurs and its lead to short or long term consequences, and is one of the risk factors associated to cognitive, linguistic, affective and academic problems. The coping to that question in Brazil is established from many institutions that are part of a child abuse network protection, as it is recommended since 1990 by Child and Adolescent Statute (Estatuto da Criança e do Adolescente) and better organized in 2006 by the Rights Guarantee System (Sistema de Garantia de Direitos), that seeks a work considered intersectoral. Nevertheless, the literature points some failure in the communication of its components. Understand how the network works and to what extent it makes up an intersectoral work is important to reflect about its dynamic and possibilities. Therefore, the objective of this research is to understand the composition and operation of the Protection Network. In order to carry out the research, we used two sources of information: 1) standards, orientation and guidelines for professionals in large areas that are part of the protection network, separating them by the following sectors: Human Rights, Justice and Public Security, Health, Education and Social Assistance; and 2) semi-structured interviews with professionals who work in these sectors and acts in the same region in the southern part of Sao Paulo city. The material was analysed by qualitative methods using discursive analysis to understand how the articulation of the different spheres of child protection emerges as a device for coping with violence against children. We note that there are some differences between the attributions expected by each sector and there is a greater flexibility of the service flows in the professionals\' discourses when compared to normative discourses. Regarding the notifications of violence, we highlight challenges to its occurrence related to the lack of capacity of professionals to deal with the issue, insecurity to notify and still lack of trust in the Tutelary Council. Concerning this institution, we observe a lack of legitimacy regarding the effectiveness of its actions, becoming only a necessary institution for the Protective Network because the rules and laws so determine. Regarding the functioning of the network, we note that although the documents affirm their importance, conceptualize violence in a homogeneous way and define guidelines to be taken, the network works in a still fragile way, as evidenced by the professionals\' discourses. In order to build an intersectoral policy, it is necessary to standardize the flow of attendance, the information and notification systems of violence, and to empower professionals for this process. Promising strategies for building intersectoral service plans in the region are concentrated audience and other similar meetings. The institutionalization of these mechanisms could facilitate greater articulation between sectors

Texto completoIntroduction. Since 2006, the Assistência Farmacêutica da Coordenação de Atenção Básica da Secretaria Municipal da Saúde de São Paulo (SMS-SP) (Coordination on Pharmaceutical Care of the Municipal Health Secretariat of São Paulo) received about 125 requests yearly, on average,before2011, and after this year, 250 requests yearly for drugs not listed in the Relação Municipal de Medicamentos Essenciais (Municipal Register of Essential Medicines) REMUME-SP, demand whose object of study was not known in a systematic nature and whose implications regarding regulation were not studied under the framework of rational access to drugs. Object of the study. Evaluate requests for pharmaceuticals not listed in REMUME-SP, from 2008 to 2013. Method. Analysis of documents, according to medical practice based on scientific evidence, of request for products not available in REMUMESP, prescribed via Form Justification for the purchase of drugs not listed in REMUME - SP, and generated from SMS-SP, during the studied period. Results. Analysis of processes arising from 1.174 requests, 2008 to 2013, has brought to the non-permit of acquisition of 58,9 per cent (N=692), due to the following reasons: 1- there is not enough evidence in the literature, 15 (17 per cent ); 2- listed in Remume-SP, 11 (1 per cent ); 3- available in SES-SP, 56 (8 per cent ); 4- insufficient clinical information, 151 (22 per cent ); 5- supplied by CACON, 10 (1 per cent ); 6- unnecessary drug, 18 (3 per cent ); 7- indication of other drug, or other concentration of the requested drug, or other device, or still other treatment (surgical, for example), 169 (24 per cent ); 8- solicitation of report from related technical area, 62 (9 per cent ); patient not cared by the municipal health service, 12 (2 per cent ); 10- prescription mistakes, 39 (6 per cent ); 11- there is not enough evidence in the literature and not sufficient clinical information, 49 (7 per cent ). The reasons of the non-acceptance of the medical requests are presented in examples, from the main pharmaceutical categories which were requested, considering its variety, all documented in the literature and extracted from the processes of solicitation. Recommendations on the improvement of medical prescription are done and possible arrangements of prescription in the relationship among policy makers and executors in the municipality and the sets of prescribers, whose main concern is the safety of users of SUS and improving access to drugs with the best benefit-risk relation.

Given that IT services are critical to the success of business, enterprises are increasingly seeking ways to make their IT effective and manageable. However, IT management is rather complicated in some situations. For example, it is not easy to quickly restore normal service operations when some unexpected incidents happen. By focusing on delivering and supporting high-quality IT services which are appropriate to the business requirements, ITSM (Information Technology Service Management) provides enterprises with not only an approach to align business with IT successfully but also a way to enhance their competitive advantages in the market. On the basis of ITSM, this research presents a system framework enhanced with Topic Maps for supporting the process of Incident Management. Data mining approach is applied to extract knowledge patterns from the historical incident logs. Based on the mining result, Topic Maps are employed to construct a map as knowledge support for Incident Management. Moreover, this work utilizes RT system and customizes it to demonstrate the management operations of presented system framework.
Akinyemi, Olutosin Solomon. "Pre-service teachers' development of topic specific PCK in kinematics and transferability of PCK competence to a new physics topic". Thesis, 2016. http://hdl.handle.net/10539/21025.
Texto completoThere have been indications of inadequate content knowledge of South African physical science teachers and poor pedagogical content knowledge in making the concepts accessible to students. With this, the pre-service teachers are considered a part of the science education foremost links to schools and young science learners. Empirically, it has been reported that this unique teacher knowledge could be developed particularly in pre-service teachers in a planning context and that the new technique of developing pre-service teachers’ PCK within a topic helps in their good mastery of teaching concepts and thus making them specialists in topics. The Topic Specific PCK (TSPCK) construct focuses on the transformation of the understanding of content of a particular topic. This study investigated the extent to which focus on kinematics improves pre-service teachers’ PCK in the topic and possible transferability of the learnt pedagogical competence to a new physics topic – electric circuits. Guiding this study were two research questions: What is the impact of the intervention on the quality of pre-service teachers’ Topic Specific PCK in Kinematics? To what extent is the preservice teachers’ learnt pedagogical transformation competence transferrable to their planning of a new topic in physics topic – Electric circuits? This study used mixed methods to investigate TSPCK in pre-service teachers. It was located in the methodology class of Twenty-three (23) 4th year physical science majors. The study included an intervention where the theoretical framework for TSPCK was used to introduce the construct in Kinematics. The intervention explains each of the five components of Topic Specific PCK using the knowledge concepts of Kinematics. Data were collected using three instruments: an instrument measuring content knowledge in kinematics; an instrument measuring the quality of Topic Specific PCK in kinematics administered as a set of pre/post intervention tests; and an instrument measuring transferability of learnt competence in planning for teaching a new topic electricity. The pre-service teachers’ written responses to the TSPCK kinematics tool were analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively. Both methods of analysis revealed that the pre-service teachers improved in their quality of TSPCK in kinematics following the intervention. It was also found out that the pre-service teachers’ improvement in the quality of TSPCK in kinematics was as result of rigorous engagement with the TSPCK components at varying degrees. Similarly, on the topic of transfer, electricity which was not discussed during the intervention, TSPCK tool in electric circuits was administered to the pre-service teachers and few records of their actual classroom teaching were analyzed. This was done to examine possible transferability of learnt pedagogical transformation competence to the new physics topic of electricity. The findings revealed that the pre-service teachers had ‘developing level’ of TSPCK in the topic of transfer similar to the finding in the topic of kinematics. The study demonstrated that focus on a single topic in a methodology course will enable transfer to another topic provided the teachers have the pre-requisite content knowledge. The findings of this study would contribute to the training of the Physical science student teachers and specifically improve their planning of other physics topics to enhance effective teaching and learning process.

Providing users with composite e-services can fulfill user’s demand for one-stop shopping. Composite e-services are complex processes that require the cooperation among cross-organizational e-service providers. It also can bring greater business opportunity to enterprises. Thus, providing effective knowledge supports for managing composite e-services is an issue worth studying. The contribution of this research is implementing a composite e-service platform enhanced with knowledge maps for managing composite e-services. Data mining approach is applied to extract knowledge patterns from the attributes and usage records of composite e-services. Based on the mining result, Topic Maps are employed to construct the knowledge map. Moreover, this work utilizes web services to integrate different e-service providers’ system to achieve the ultimately goal of collaborative commerce. This work demonstrates the operations of composite e-Service navigator as well as the services of recommendation by a simulated scenario to examine the effectiveness of the proposed platform.

With the development of technology and the rapid popularity of instant messengers, online question-answering service is widely provided by lots of companies. Consumers who encounter problems on products can ask questions to customer service agents through online chatting system; then agents may provide suggestions or services. This kind of service approach is more and more common nowadays. In order to improve online question-answering service and analyze chat messages, we propose a novel Answer Finding Mechanism based on Latent Topic Model and self-define ontology, which can deal with unstructured and various-length instant messages effectively and can find appropriate answers corresponding to the target question. FAQs are also generated by our mechanism as an intermediate file that can be used to assist customer services. The experimental results show that our proposed mechanism can effectively find appropriate answers for online question-answering services. The discovered answers can be provided to customer services for references.
Ndlovu, Bongani Prince. "Examining the development of topic specific pedagogical content knowledge in stoichiometry in pre-service teachers". Thesis, 2017. http://hdl.handle.net/10539/23458.
Texto completoOver the past three years, National Senior Certificate diagnostic reports reported that learner performance in key chemistry topics remains an aspect for concern. In these reports, poor understanding of stoichiometry is identified as an underlying factor. On the other hand, the status of mathematics and science teaching has been under critique by several education researchers, pointing to poor teacher training in the subjects. One possible way to respond to the challenge in science education is to introduce and emphasize the development of Topic Specific Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TSPCK) as the professional knowledge for teaching science topics in Initial Teacher Education (ITE) programme. TSPCK is renowned for enabling teachers to pedagogically transform difficult content of specific science topics into forms best understandable by learners. This study examined the impact on the quality of TSPCK following an intervention that explicitly targeted the development of the competence to transform content knowledge using stoichiometry as a topic of learning. This examination happened as teacher plan to teach the topic. The study followed a Mixed Method research design and a case study as a research strategy. It was located in the methodology class of physical science IV. The participants were 10 pre-service teachers who were in their final year of Bachelor study in education (B. Ed). They were bound by the requirements of the course and their common choice of physical science as their major subject. These pre-service teachers were exposed to a TSPCK based intervention that explicitly targeted the development of TSPCK component interaction. More evidence of component interactions was comprehended as developing quality of TSPCK. Quantitative data was collected as a set of pre- and post-intervention TSPCK tests using existing, specially designed tools that were developed and validated in a separate study. Five (5) of the then pre-service were followed a year later after the intervention to measure the quality of TSPCK in the topic of intervention in order to determine the extent of retention of the quality of TSPCK since the intervention. Qualitative data was collected through face to face interviews to confirm observed patterns of retention. The findings in this study indicated that pre-service teachers experienced a visible improvement in the quality of their TSPCK in stoichiometry as a direct result of the intervention. Pre-service teachers showed more evidence of component interactions post the intervention. The results further indicated that pre-service teachers experienced the components of TSPCK to have different levels of difficulty when using them to transform the content in stoichiometry during planning. The component of ―conceptual teaching strategies‖ was found to be the most difficult. A year later, the quality of TSPCK in planning to teach the topic of the intervention was found to have been retained by the then pre-service teachers. Recommendations about the implementation of TSPCK in core topics in ITE are made. Firstly, for initial teacher education, it is recommended that courses such as methodology for teaching chemistry be structured as TSPCK based intervention. Secondly, more work need to be done in the examination of retention span of TSPCK. Thus, similar studies must be conducted in an effort to increase empirical evidence about the extent at which TSPCK is retained by beginning teachers.

Mavhunga, Madlivane Elizabeth. "Explicit inclusion of topic specific knowledge for teaching and the development of PCK in pre-service science teachers". Thesis, 2014. http://hdl.handle.net/10539/15877.
Texto completoReflection about lessons delivered is a practice widely encouraged in teaching. Reasoning, particularly about transformation of subject matter knowledge of lessons yet to be taught, is an internal process and a speciality evident largely in expert teachers. The study investigates the feasibility of fast-tracking its development in pre-service chemistry teachers. It focuses on developing this specialty within a specific topic, as a theoretical construct called Topic Specific PCK (TSPCK). Five knowledge components of TSPCK are identified as the enablers that transform subject matter knowledge. The components are: (1) students’ prior knowledge, (2) curricular Saliency, (3) what is difficult to teach (4) representations, including powerful analogies, and (5) conceptual teaching strategies. These components are identified, with reference to literature, as aspects specific to the subject matter knowledge of the teacher and useful in its teachability. A new tool to measure the quality of TSPCK is developed. The procedure for developing the tool consists of the following steps: (i) confirming the characteristics of the test items fitting the Topic Specific PCK construct, (ii) production of test items, (iii) judgment of items, (iv) construction of the instrument (v) piloting and (vi) validation of the instrument. Care is taken to ensure presentation of multiple evidence and discussions, addressing the interpretive and arguments as requirements for showing validity of the construct measured by the instrument. The Topic Specific PCK tool is validated with a group of 20 practicing teachers. The tool is scored, using a rubric corresponding to the five components with each being rated on a four point scale, from 1 (Limited) to 4 (Exemplary). The analysis of the generated scores is done using the Rasch statistical model (Winstep, version 3.72.3). The reliability indices as indicated by person reliability and item reliability are found to be high at 0.86 at 0.91, respectively. The persons and item scores reflect measures well inside the conventionally acceptable range of -2 and +2. A further indicator of validity of the tool is the empirically calculated hierarchy of test items’ order of difficulty, found similar to the theoretically predicted pattern for the teacher group. Based on the above analysis and findings, I regard the tool as valid and reliable. My research design is based on mixed-methods research (MM). The research strategy takes the form of a case study. The study is located in a methodology class for final year physical science pre-service teachers. They formed an experimental group (N=16) for this study. I delivered an intervention, targeting understanding of transformation of Chemical Equilibrium concepts, using the above listed five knowledge components. I collected data through a combination of tools, including the newly designed Topic Specific PCK tool in Chemical Equilibrium, an Achievement tool and a science teacher Belief tool. Both the Achievement and the Belief tools were adapted from existing tools, and were thus considered tried and validated. The findings suggest that the quality of Topic Specific PCK in chemical equilibrium may be improved in pre-service teachers by the explicit discussion of the knowledge enabling its transformation. They also suggest that, in the process of discussing aspects of subject matter knowledge related to its transformation, pre-service teachers improve their conceptual understanding of chemical equilibrium. Both these improvements were not affected by the shift or lack of shift in teacher beliefs from teacher-centred towards studentcentred practices. I acknowledge the small size of the sample as a practical limitation to the generalization of the statistical findings in this study. I suggest that emphasis be placed on the trends displayed, as they are similar to those obtained from the multiple sources of the qualitative component of the study. Finally, I recommend that the development of PCK in pre-service teachers be considered in a topic by topic manner. I urge that the teaching of chemistry topics be explicitly organized in a format in which pre-service teachers would be expected to reason about them, and particularly transform them for teaching. Keywords Pedagogical Content Knowledge, Topic Specific PCK, Chemical Equilibrium, Transformation of Subject Matter Knowledge.
Van, der Merwe Denise. "Examining pre-service teachers' reflections on their classroom teaching in order to identify topic specific pedagogical content knowledge in their practice". Thesis, 2017. https://hdl.handle.net/10539/25003.
Texto completoThe gap between theory and practice in education remains a persistent problem identified by some researchers as today’s “Achilles heel of teacher education”. The experience in science education is no different. Pedagogical content knowledge (PCK) has emerged as a theoretical construct that offers science education practitioners a framework to bridge the theory-practice divide because of its ability to transform content knowledge. However, little is known about how the complexity of classroom practice influences PCK acquired by pre-service teachers from structured courses. The purpose of this study was to illuminate pre-service teachers’ PCK as it develops from a point of reasoning about teaching a specific topic into classroom delivery. This study was performed as a qualitative case study of 23 final year pre-service science teachers. It was located in a methodology class that had a specific objective to develop PCK in core topics of science. The students were exposed to an explict intervention on developing PCK in teaching stochiometry then placed in various High Schools around Johannesburg during teaching experience. Data collected was largely during their placement in schools. It consisted of qualitative data such as lesson plans, audio recordings of classroom teaching and self - analysis reports submitted after the teaching experience. Analysis was based on a qualitative in-depth method for identification of evidence of teaching segments illustrating pedagogical transformation. These are segments where there is evidence of two or more topic specific components of PCK defined as Topic Specific Content Knowledge (TSPCK). These were called TSPCK episodes. The TSPCK episodes identified in lessons plans and in recorded lessons were analysed for identificaton of components present and the nature of interactions. These were turned into pictorial TSPCK MAPS. The analysis of pre-service teachers’ views on TSPCK were analysed through a combination of open statements and a science teacher belief tool. The findings indicated that TSPCK episodes identified in lessons plans experience an authentic expansion, blossoming into a cluster of episodes which still carried out the original intention. In some cases the intention could be seen through a similar TSPCK episode in some cases the component sequence and identity had changed. Furthermore, pre-service teachers showed positive awareness of their own level of teacher development and credited their development to the TSPCK framework. Recommendations in this report include promotion of the implementation of the TSPCK framework in Initial Teacher Education, particularly in the methodology courses with reference to classroom complexity.

To meet the public servants’ need of dealing with complicated document affairs and case analyzing abilities, the government authority regards the Chinese writing performance as a standard criterion for years. By intensively studying, it is not difficult to observe that the examination system and the topic setting contents have noticeable characteristics. This research tries to take the Chinese writing topic in public service examination as a domain, and take the exemplifications of the public service examinations from 1996 to 2008, which are announced by the Ministry of Examination, as the range of analyzing. It also makes an integrative discussion on the trend of tests and the topic setting characteristics. We hope to understand the objective of the test, and take the result as the foundation of making an effective way to develop writing ability. It is said that “You can’t draw a line without a ruler.” Develop the techniques, by which unique styles can be created, and the inner wisdom of the literary works can be superior. One can also accomplish the task of all kinds of writing tests with ease. This research, which begins from the process of reorganization exploration and induction, is to establish the methods of writing discipline and the essentials of learning, and to provide a reference direction of preparing public service tests. Therefore, the research elaborates by three main aspects: 1. Comprehend the essence of public service writing test, define the trend of topic setting, and present the purpose and meaning of writing tests. 2. Reorganize the topic types of public service writing test and the key points of topic setting. Take writing theory as the foundation, answering main points as the evidence, and induce the concrete methods of dealing with the tests. 3. Analyze the reference theories of writing training and the abilities of taking examinations. Orderly guide the problem solving mentality and inspire writing abilities. Combine with teaching material development and expand the application value of the research.

Providing single e-service cannot fulfill rapidly changing requirements of customers. Composite e-services that integrate multiple basic e-services provide one-stop shopping for customers. Enterprises who participate in such a collaborative business model could be more competitive in e-marketplace. The contribution of this thesis is proposing a Topic Maps based user interface on our previous composite e-services platform. The proposed interface eases current UDDI-based web services navigation and search. Customers can easily browse and pick up preferred e-services and providers by using the user-friendly interface. Furthermore, the associations between basic and composite e-services are clearly visualized. In our composite e-services platform, customers can browse, search, and compose e-services, and analyze the usage of basic and composite e-services. Therefore, the proposed platform effectively reduces the complexity of e-services technologies and increases the popularity of e-services.

Recent trends in net-centric systems motivate the development of information management capabilities that ensure the right information is delivered at the right place efficiently within specified time-range to satisfy the quality of service (QoS) requirements in many different environments. Data Distribution Service middleware offers a solution with the use of Quality of Service (QoS) Policies as a set of characters that drive a given behavior of the service so it may able to fulfill those requirements. QoS Policies has a wide range of attributes that can be applied to the Entity objects interacting within the system such as publisher, subscriber, topic etc. for example there are a total of 11 QoS Policies applicable to the Topic entity, however, it is difficult to find an optimal combination of these policies and their appropriate value. In this thesis we propose a way to optimize the performance (loss rate and latency) of a particular system design by using only the QoS Policy applicable to Topic entity. We use correlation analysis and the specification of QoS Policies for the collected dataset from our experiment to find the impact for each QoS policy toward the performance. The final result we found out that the combination of QoS Policies for a particular system design that able to optimize the performance of loss rate are Reliability & Durability QoS while to improve the performance of latency is Deadline QoS.

With the increasing number of content produced and consumed over the social network services, sharing the information with appropriate audiences is becoming helpful to initiate the usefulness of information. The similar topics can be found in the status message, but the difference of sentiments about them are confident. However, the previous study to audience recommendation on the information sharing was not designed to deal with contents sentiment. This thesis proposes a new approach for recommending users with sentiment-aware. We consider the topic of interest for identifying the user interests by leveraging state-of-the-art topic modeling with knowledge bases. In this method, we incorporate correlation between the sentiments of readers and the given information in inferring user’s topic of interest. We evaluate our approach based on a Twitter dataset and English Wikipedia. Our findings show that the proposed approach can precisely recommend users on content sentiment and topic of interest. We conclude that this approach can be adopted in different social networks platform for information sharing.

Nowadays, more and more designs of public service posters have used the ironic technique to attract audience. The word irony is actually originated by the inversion method in the rhetoric, which is not only used in texts, but also commonly seen in the field of visual communication recently. Ironic posters can bring people strong visual impressions and profound emotions, which is easier to trigger reflection than the general approaches; in addition, appropriate use of ironic technique can enhance the overall visual tension of the poster. This study first gives an overview of irony from text rhetoric to image symbols, and then aggregates techniques of image expression, finally turns into the simplification process of the information symbols. The author conducts creation based on the exploration mentioned above. The overall of nine posters are divided into three categories of "environment", "society" and "ego", all of which are people-centered and extended to the theme that all beings should coexist peacefully. However, the nature and human are always exposed to risks such as the over-exploitation of environment and the concerns of food safety. Besides the damages on the environment, human beings also suffer from mental defects caused by physical disabilities. Thus, if the balance between human and the nature is damaged, both of them will be impacted by each other seriously. Finally, as people no longer accept information only from prints due to the well-developed technology of Internet, the poster elements are decomposed and recombined into dynamic images to facilitate the online publishing and fast spread. It’s suggested from the results of this study that human should emphasize on importance of the environment, society and ego and create a win-win future that is healthy, sustainable and efficient.

"Boutique hotels: Understanding service quality dimensions through the analysis of online reviews". Master's thesis, 2021. http://hdl.handle.net/10071/24229.

Alcoholism is one of the biggest public health problems worldwide and in portuguese society, both because of its prevalence and severity, and because of its social impact. The multidimensionality and systemic character of alcoholism require the adoption of assessment and intervention strategies that allow a more effective response to this relevant social problem. The Social Service, due to the diversity of the organizational and problematic contexts in which it intervene, may have, along with other professional disciplines, a relevant role in its approach, both in terms of screening and diagnosis, in motivating treatment, in social reintegration and in prevention. In this sense, starting from a qualitative research, was carried out a descriptive and comprehensive study of the life trajectories of alcoholic patients and the performances of not only the support and social monitoring services, as well as the Social Work professionals. Presenting an analytical framework of Alcoholism, as a phenomenon and social problem, the study begins by discussing the issues related to conceptualization, starting to demonstrate its impact in the portuguese context, finally reflecting on the intervention and the possible relevance of Social Work in this context. Methodologically, based on convenience sampling, in a first axis, 62 interviews were carried out with alcoholic patients, accompanied by Self-Help Groups, Therapeutic Communities and / or Temporary Reception Center. The goal of those interviews was not only to recognize the social problems most associated with alcohol consumption, but also to map the contexts in which the patients move. Beyond these aims, it pretend to identify the institutions they use the most throughout their history of consumption and the situations in which the suspicions and signs of alcoholism are most evident. The data collected were analysed from a biographical perspective, which allowed the reproduction of consumption trajectories and institutional paths and, simultaneously, the recognition of screening, referral and prevention, effective (or not), practices. A second axis was based on the participant observation technique to a group of diverse representatives of different social services, gathered in a meeting to discuss the intervention on Alcohol Related Problems. From the observation-participation modality, it was intended to seize the perceptions, practices and perspectives of social workers in this specific problem, to identify and understand the factors that influence their performance. The results of this investigation confirm, by one hand, the systemic and multidimensional relationship between alcoholism and social factors and problems. On the other hand, different trajectories of patients were identified in terms of consumption and their relationship with services, pointing to the extension of the natural history of the disease and late intervention, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation. The reality and the professional discourse also illustrate the needs and difficulties that confine social intervention in this context, namely in terms of human and physical resources and institutional link, as well in what concerns to the recognition of the disease and its specificities and complexities. Finally, the present study unequivocally points to the relevant role of self-help groups, as structures of (in) formal monitoring of patients and their families, at all levels of intervention, before, during and after treatment, since the preventive strand to the community reintegration, and also with a fundamental action in strengthening to the maintenance of abstinence.

Texto completoConsidering the level of needs felt by front-line employees in the hospitality industry, in relation to the offer of benefits, it is relevant to understand the effect of this relationship on employee performance and the company's competitive advantage. Based on the self-determination theory, Maslow's needs theory, and Job Demands-Resources (JD-R) model, this research proposes that the effect of individual needs on engagement, commitment to service quality, and motivation, through burnout, differs according to different levels of the offer of benefits. We analyzed the mediating role of burnout and the moderating role of the offer of benefits in the relationship between the needs of frontline employees and their performance in terms of engagement, commitment to service quality and motivation. We analyzed the data from a sample of 338 employees working in the area of Reception or in the Food and Beverage (F&B) Service in 3, 4 and 5-star hotels, located in the Central Region and in the Lisbon Metropolitan Area (NUTS II). The results revealed that contexts, in which there are individual needs and the offer of benefits is low or intermediate, are responsible for a reduction in engagement, commitment to service quality, and motivation, through burnout. The current study may contribute to research and practice because it identifies that failure to meet the needs is a mechanism that affects employee performance in the hospitality industry.
Finciuc, Gabriela. "A qualidade do serviço dos hotéis durante o Covid-19". Master's thesis, 2021. http://hdl.handle.net/10071/24722.
Texto completoOn march 11, 2020 Covid-19 was declared a pandemic by World Health Organization Director Tedros Adhnom Ghebreyesus. This outbreak is under investigation, however it has been spreading across the rest of the world causing tremendous consequences in several areas. Given the new situation and according to the report “Tackling coronavirus (Covid-19): Tourism Policy Responses” by the OECD, with the new virus and simultaneously with the measures to reduce it, the economy of international tourism suffered a reduction of 45% to 70%. In Portugal, the situation is no different, with tourism being one of the most affected sectors. Much of the impact of covid-19 on tourism in Portugal has been reflected in the low occupancy of accommodation or even its closing, the unemployment caused or even the loss of income. However, this work aims to study another face of tourism that may also have been influenced by the new pandemic experienced, the quality of service provided by hotels. Thus, based on the SERVQUAL model, a tool that studies quality, adapted, and with the objective of understanding how the quality of service in hotels was or was not influenced by the pandemic experienced and whether guests are satisfied or not, 212 questionnaires were collected. It was noted that during the pandemic the dimensions that need more importance on the part of the guests are the “Covid Standards” and “Safety”, which are the ones that best explain their feeling of satisfaction. In general, it was found that despite the atypical situation experienced in Portugal, guests feel satisfied overall. It is hoped that the results obtained will serve as an incentive to deepen this theme and that, through limitations and suggestions for future research, the model used will be applied to other service sectors affected by Covid-19.
