The vast amount of information available on the Internet have enabled numerous multidisciplinar investigations aimed to understand nuances of human consumption behavior, especially to identify people's opinions about products and services. From Behavioral Perspective Model (BPM), consumer behavior analysis can be conducted focusing on antecedent variables (behavioral setting and consumer learning history) and consequences (reinforcement and punishment, utilitarian and informative) to the occurrence of behavior. The present thesis investigated consumption behavior in the context of tourism, with BPM as theoretical support for interpretations of verbal data extracted from comments available on the TripAdvisor®, a website about tourism. Verbal responses of tourism consumers, engaged in the process of online avaluation of components of tourism products (specifically, Accommodations [ACO], Restaurants [RES] and Attractions [ATR]), were analyzed. Research participants were the unknown individuals who, between the beginning of February and the end of March 2017, emitted 6.438.497 comments distributed among the 100 most evaluated Brazilian touristic destinations at TribAdvisor®. In two studies (Study 1 [E1] and Study 2 [E2]), the thesis research aimed at: a) extraction and analysis of tourist´s verbal information (commentaries) throught a Sentiment Analysis (SA) computational technique; extraction the number of touristic product component (ACO, RES e ATR) evaluative indications emitted by tourism consumers with different statuses as TripColaborators; extraction of the number of votes (Likes) to the comments; b) describe the polarized evaluative response attributed to the 100 evaluated touristic destinations and interpret such responding considering BPM concepts. E1 resulted in the successful development of the SentimentALL tool, focusing on the AS module, and the generation the primary variables explored in E2 (n = 197). In E2, data generated in E1 and derived measures were explored (described in rankings and correlation analyzes) and interpreted using the BPM conceptual framework. With a fundamental exploratory caracter, the interpretative effort suggested profitable research lines and utility of the computational and psychological knowledges integration.

This paper intends to show that positivism is a philosophy shared by two seemingly contradictory moments, expressed by science and religion. Rather, it is a philosophy in which the feeling is the key element of understanding, it is the scientific explanation of nature or of religious connotation. To reach the desired purpose, it starts from a study of positivism itself, or rather the work of Auguste Comte, founder of the positivist philosophy, seeking to establish parameters that could define with sufficient precision what it is Comtean positivism. Thus, the aim is to provide the research with a theoretical foundation, to avoid mere speculative discussions, and to exam positivism in Brazil.

Texto completoThis research has been carried out among French science students enrolled in CPGE (Classes Préparatoires aux Grandes Ecoles). One of its objectives is to study how motivational variables influence academic achievement. Academic self-efficacy, achievement goals or self-determined motivation are reported to play an important part in academic achievement. By relating self-efficacy, goal orientations and motivation, as conceptualized in self-determination theory, to both preceding and subsequent academic achievement, it is possible to further investigate the structural relation between these variables. Therefore, we aim at analysing the mutual influences which exist among them.Psychometric tools, among which an academic self-efficacy scale, were created and validated. Path analysis were performed in order to produce a multivariate model including motivational variables, previous academic performance and subsequent academic achievement. Our results showed that:- self-efficacy is the only motivational variable that directly influences academic achievement; - mastery approach goal, which is influenced by self-efficacy, enhances intrinsic motivation but is negatively related to amotivation;- performance approach goal enhances extrinsic motivation and identified regulated extrinsic motivation is positively related to self-efficacy while externally regulated extrinsic motivation is negatively related to it;- amotivation is negatively related to self-efficacy;- Self-efficacy beliefs are mediators between amotivation and subsequent academic achievement.Future research could build on these findings. Suggestions of applications are provided
Azevedo, Catarina Maria Cortez.
The present work aims to verify whether the consultation of dictionaries is capable of instilling polarity in the user and analyze the ability to assign feeling by Sentilex lexicon. For this, was made a selection of 60 adjectives whose polarity (assigned by SentiLex) is dubious, to be reevaluated by a class of 21 portuguese learners from the University of A Coruña, enrolled in the Curricular Unit “Modern Language: Portuguese” (Level A2) of the degree in Galician and Portuguese, with the help of two dictionaries available for this purpose. In conclusion, it was proven that 56 of the 60 selected adjectives are incorrectly classified by SentiLex, based on the surveys collected. It has also been proven that dictionaries cannot always clarify the learner and sometimes transmit misconceptions to users.

Objective: The purpose of this experimental research was to investigate possible impacts from phubbing between friends - the act of snubbing another party in a social interaction by instead focusing on one’s mobile phone. Method: 96 participants watched a 120 second animation of the interaction between two friends and were instructed to imagine themselves as part of this interaction as vividly as possible. The participants watched one of three video scenarios: in the first, one party displayed no phubbing behaviour throughout their interaction; the second video displayed phubbing behaviour during part of their interaction; and the third scenario displayed phubbing behaviour extensively. During the data collection phase of the study, the scenario that each participant watched was determined in a non-random distribution, on a first-come, first-serve basis by the investigator. The participants’ reactions were evaluated based on positive and negative affects, friendship quality and sense of belonging. Results: Participants who did not perceive themselves as being subjected to phubbing behaviour associated more favourably positive affects and less negative affects. They also perceived a higher quality of friendship and a greater feeling of belonging than those who perceived themselves as the subjects of phubbing behaviour. Conclusion: This research reveals that phubbing behavior in face-to-face interactions can deteriorate the quality of the friendships, lower the level of perceived affections and diminish the sense of belonging.
Texto completoThe main objective of this thesis was to explore the personal development of youth at risk of delinquency and dropout through their involvement in a psychosocial intervention program named "Bien dans mes baskets" (BdmB). This program uses extracurricular basketball as an intervention tool among youth facing various difficulties. It is worth noting that almost all the coaches have professional training in social work or related fields. This thesis presents the results of three studies as parts of a broader research project dealing with the evaluation of the BdmB program. The first study explored the transfer process of the life skills targeted by the BdmB program to other activity fields. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with 14 men and seven women former athlete-students. Our results suggest that, throughout the adult life, three main factors seem to have played a role in the transfer process involving life skills developed as part of BdmB, namely the presence of contexts favoring experiential learning, the relative value granted to the different activity fields and the life trajectory. Our data also shows that beyond the transfer process on an individual scale, a transfer can also occur within the community. The aim of the second study was to explore how participation in BdmB could foster the process of empowerment. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with seven former female participants of BdmB. Our results suggest that a team sport can lead to empowerment through positive socialization, especially when combined with psychosocial intervention. This improvement was most likely the result of cumulative learning experiences including the development and transfer of life skills, the capacity to resist negative external influences as well as the positive impact of experiences in BdmB on their academic aspirations and persistence. The aim of the third study was to evaluate the impact of BdmB program on sense of belonging to school and the presence of social support. A quasi-experimental design was used to evaluate the impact of the program among current participants. The intervention group consisted of the athlete-students of BdmB and the comparison groups consisted of the students from the same school who are not participating in the program, and taking into account whether they are involved or not in sport participation. Individuals were surveyed two times using a self-administered questionnaire over a period of two academic years. Results indicate that the intervention group has developed a better sense of belonging to school and has a better social support compared to comparison groups.
