Resumen
DNA methylation plays an important role in the regulation of gene expression in eukaryotes. The extent and patterns of DNA methylation were assessed in the date palm (Phoenix dactylifera L.) mother plants and their offshoots using the methylation sensitive amplified polymorphism (MSAP) technique. Three types of bands were generated using 12 pairs of primers. Type I bands were present in both EcoR I + Hpa II and EcoR I + Msp I lanes; type II bands were present in EcoR I + Hpa II lanes, but not in EcoR I + Msp I lanes; and type III bands were present in EcoR I + Msp I lanes, but not in EcoR I + Hpa II lanes. The total numbers of these three types of bands were 782, 55, and 34. Among these three types of bands, the polymorphic bands were 34, 10, and 0, respectively. The distribution of polymorphic bands among mother-plants and offshoots could suggest the methylation variation occurred to the mother plants and offshoots. The methylation variation during offshoot growth of date palm was characterized as a process involving mainly of demethylation. Hypomethylation of DNA in offshoots compared with mother plants reflects the marked expression of this molecular feature, which may related to gene expression during development of offshoots. The methylation or demethylation status of specific loci in the mother plants and their offshoots might not relate their lineage but occurred randomly.

Resumen
Context-sensitive solutions (CSS) is a comprehensive approach to transportation decision making that embraces the philosophy that transportation programs and projects should address the transportation need, be an asset to the community, and be compatible with the human and natural environment. The CSS movement is rooted in years of controversy stemming from the dissatisfaction of concerned citizens, environmentalists, historic preservationists, multimodal advocates, and others in the transportation decision-making process. In 2002 the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) signed an Environmental Stewardship Policy that proclaimed, “Our goal is to provide a safe and well-maintained transportation system that meets the needs of customers and supports the development of sustainable, vibrant communities.” NCDOT viewed the CSS approach as a critical element in institutionalizing its stewardship policy and developed the CSS course to encompass the goals of the stewardship policy. To date, more than 1,000 transportation professionals in North Carolina have been trained in CSS. This paper provides insight into the course development process, including course content, participants’ experiences, and recommendations for agencies interested in developing an effective CSS course.

AbstractOver the years, a plethora of cost-sensitive methods have been proposed for learning on data when different types of misclassification errors incur different costs. Our contribution is a unifying framework that provides a comprehensive and insightful overview on cost-sensitive ensemble methods, pinpointing their differences and similarities via a fine-grained categorization. Our framework contains natural extensions and generalisations of ideas across methods, be it AdaBoost, Bagging or Random Forest, and as a result not only yields all methods known to date but also some not previously considered.

Resumen
Sensitive troponin assays have been developed to meet the diagnostic goals set by the universal definition of myocardial infarction (MI). The analytical advantages of sensitive troponin assays include improved analytical imprecision at concentrations below the 99th percentile and the ability to define a reference distribution fully. Clinically, the improved sensitivity translates into the ability to diagnosis MI earlier, possibly within 3 h from admission and the ability to use the rate of change of troponin (Δ troponin) for diagnosis. Very sensitive assays may, in appropriately selected populations (perhaps with the addition of Δ troponin), allow diagnosis on hospital admission or within 1–2 h of admission. An elevated troponin level occurring in patients without suspected acute coronary syndromes has, in all studies to date in which outcome has been examined, been shown to indicate an adverse prognosis whatever the underlying clinical diagnosis. Failure of elevation means a good prognosis allowing early, safe hospital discharge, whereas a raised value requires investigation and should help prevent clinically significant pathology being overlooked. Sensitive troponins do present a challenge to the laboratory and the clinician. For the laboratory, the diagnosis of MI requires a change in troponin value. For the clinician, the challenge is to shift from a simplistic yes/no diagnosis of MI based on a single troponin value to a diagnosis that utilises early troponin changes as part of the clinical picture, and to relate the new class of detectable troponin elevation in patients with ischaemic myocardial disease to existing clinical guidelines and trial evidence.

Resumen
Sensitivity analysis can be used to carry out hedging strategies. The sensitivity value measures how much the price change of the option influenced by some parameters. The aim of this study is to determine the sensitivity analysis of the buying price of European option by using the Greek method on Black Scholes Formula. From this study we get the values of delta, gamma, theta, vega, and rho. The values of deltas, gamma, vega, and rho are positive, which means that the value of the option is more sensitive than the corresponding parameter. The most sensitive value of gamma is obtained when the stock price approaches the strike price and approaches the expiry date. The value of theta obtained is negative and hence the most sensitive theta value is when the value is getting smaller. While, the most sensitive value of vega is obtained when the stock price is close to the strike price and is far from the expiry date. The most sensitive value of rho is obtained when the stock price gets bigger and farther from the expiry date.

Resumen
The differential-privacy idea states that maintaining privacy often includes adding noise to a data set to make it more challenging to identify data that corresponds to specific individuals. The accuracy of data analysis is typically decreased when noise is added, and differential privacy provides a technique to evaluate the accuracy-privacy trade-off. Although it may be more difficult to discern between analyses performed on somewhat dissimilar data sets, injecting random noise can also reduce the usefulness of the analysis. If not, enough noise is supplied to a very tiny data collection, analyses could become practically useless. The trade-off between value and privacy should, however, become more manageable as the size of the data set increase. Along these lines, in this paper, the fundamental ideas of sensitivity and privacy budget in differential privacy, the noise mechanisms utilized as a part of differential privacy, the composition properties, the ways through which it can be achieved and the developments in this field to date have been presented.

Resumen
AbstractContext-sensitive global analysis of large code bases can be expensive, which can make its use impractical during software development. However, there are many situations in which modifications are small and isolated within a few components, and it is desirable to reuse as much as possible previous analysis results. This has been achieved to date through incremental global analysis fixpoint algorithms that achieve cost reductions at fine levels of granularity, such as changes in program lines. However, these fine-grained techniques are neither directly applicable to modular programs nor are they designed to take advantage of modular structures. This paper describes, implements, and evaluates an algorithm that performs efficient context-sensitive analysis incrementally on modular partitions of programs. The experimental results show that the proposed modular algorithm shows significant improvements, in both time and memory consumption, when compared to existing non-modular, fine-grain incremental analysis techniques. Furthermore, thanks to the proposed intermodular propagation of analysis information, our algorithm also outperforms traditional modular analysis even when analyzing from scratch.

Resumen
Two alternative analytical models were used to estimate the economically optimal age of replanting date palm, namely; Comparison of Equivalent Annual Net Revenue (CEAN) and Multi-Period Linear Programming Model (MPLP). Solution procedures of both models are based on the theory of optimal replacement of capital assets. Data on date palm age-yield relationship and other socioeconomic variables were gleaned through a farm survey of 34 large commercial farms, in Izki, Bahla, and Al-Hamra wilayats in the Al- Dakhilya governorate of the Sultanate of Oman. The study estimated the optimal age of replanting date palms as 50-55 years. Both models, CEAN and MPLP gave consistent estimates. The optimal age to replant date palms was sensitive only to changes in the interest rates. Low interest rates shortened the optimal age of date palm replanting. Changes in date price, yield and variable production costs did not change the optimal age of replanting date palms. The incremental revenue that could be accrued to the Sultanate of Oman through replanting date palms was estimated as 7 million OR/ year.

AbstractIn this work we report the most sensitive water maser survey towards Bok globules to date, using NASA's 70 m antenna in Robledo de Chavela (Spain). We observed 207 positions within the Clemens & Barvainis catalog that show indications of possible star formation or with a high probability of harboring a young stellar object. With this survey we have increased the number of Bok globules known to present water maser emission from three to nine. We have complemented these results with interferometric high-angular resolution observations towards some of our detections.

Resumen
An increasing number of spring wheat cultivars released for production in western Canada are daylength insensitive. In contrast, until a decade ago virtually all Canada Western Red Spring (CWRS) wheat cultivars were daylength sensitive. The impact of photoperiod response on CWRS wheat growth and yield has not been studied to date. A growth analysis study was conducted in each of 3 yr at Saskatoon. Growth and yield traits of the photoperiod-sensitive cultivars Conway and Katepwa and photoperiod-insensitive cultivars Laura and Leader were compared in early versus late plantings. Laura had the highest leaf area index at anthesis and produced more spikelets and kernels per spike than the other cultivars. Laura, however, had a higher tiller mortality, producing fewer spikes per square metre. The cultivars did not respond uniformly to delayed seeding from one year to the next. Significant crossover cultivar × seeding date interaction was detected in each of the 3 yr. The cultivar × seeding-date interactions did not appear to follow a pattern that might be ascribed to differing cultivar photoperiod sensitivity. Conway was involved in one case of significant (P = 0.10) cultivar × seeding cross-over interaction for grain yield, while Katepwa and Leader were each involved in two cases and Laura in three cases. This study failed to determine whether differing photoperiod responses would translate into gross differences in cultivar growth and yield. Thus, there is a need to develop near-isogenic lines to determine whether photoperiod insensitivity is detrimental to yield stability in CWRS wheats. Resumen
This report deals with the qualitative and quantitative distributions of bacterial populations in the rhizosphere of two date-palm cultivars, one sensitive and one resistant to fusariosis, and with the antagonistic capacity of these bacteria against the pathogen Fusarium oxysporum f.sp. albedinis. In the external zones of young roots, bacterial growth was stimulated more by the sensitive cultivar than by the resistant one. A survey of 665 isolates permitted the bacteria to be grouped in two main genera, Pseudomonas and Bacillus, and in a coryneform group composed of Arthrobacter, Brevibacterium, and Pimelobacter. The generic and specific composition differed between the two cultivars and varied with root age (young or old) and the root zones considered (internal or external). In external zones, Pseudomonas caryophylli and Pseudomonas gladioli were the most abundant for the sensitive cultivar. In the endorhizosphere, Bacillus firmus was more abundant in the resistant cultivar, and Pseudomonas fluorescens biovar II in the sensitive one. Difference were also noted in the percentages of antagonistic bacteria against F.o. albedinis. The present study confirms the findings of several authors that plants are capable of controlling their own rhizosphere bacterial populations.Key words: bacteria, rhizosphere, systematics, fusariosis, date palm.[Journal translation]

Resumen
The AGM paradigm for belief change, as originally introduced by Alchourron, Gärdenfors and Makinson, lacks any guidelines for the process of iterated revision. One of the most influential work addressing this problem is Darwiche and Pearl's approach (DP approach, for short), which, despite its well-documented shortcomings, remains to this date the most dominant. In this article, we make further observations on the DP approach. In particular, we prove that the DP postulates are, in a strong sense, inconsistent with Parikh's relevance-sensitive axiom (P), extending previous initial conflicts. Immediate consequences of this result are that an entire class of intuitive revision operators, which includes Dalal's operator, violates the DP postulates, as well as that the Independence postulate and Spohn's conditionalization are inconsistent with axiom (P). The whole study, essentially, indicates that two fundamental aspects of the revision process, namely, iteration and relevance, are in deep conflict, and opens the discussion for a potential reconciliation towards a comprehensive formal framework for knowledge dynamics.

Resumen
During the past 5 years, there has been a national movement to integrate context-sensitive solutions (CSS) into transportation project planning and design. Applying CSS principles in the long-range planning process would help ensure that projects were CSS friendly from their earliest conception. This possibility has prompted CSS experts to discuss how CSS can be integrated into long-range planning. Two environmental stewardship initiatives under way at the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) provide a unique opportunity to explore this area. In the first initiative, NCDOT has a substantial CSS training program in place. To date, nearly 800 staff members and consultants have attended 3-day CSS training courses. In a separate stewardship initiative, NCDOT is redesigning the traditional thoroughfare plan process to create a new comprehensive transportation plan (CTP) process. Although these two initiatives have not been explicitly connected, this discussion examines how CSS principles are embedded in the proposed CTP process. However, substantial technical and institutional challenges must be dealt with before the CSS-based CTP process can be implemented fully. The conclusion of this discussion is that a state-of-the-practice, long-range transportation planning process should incorporate the CSS principles and decision-making characteristics that have been adopted in North Carolina.

Resumen
Empirical investigation of the conditions under which people prefer, or disprefer, causal explanation, has suggested to many that our judgements about what causally explains what are context-sensitive in a number of ways. This has led many to suppose that whether or not a causal explanation obtains depends on contextual factors: that causal explanation is context-sensitive. Surprisingly, most accounts of metaphysical explanation, by contrast, suppose it to be context insensitive. Only recently have accounts been developed of metaphysical explanation on which it is context-sensitive. To date, however, there is no empirical evidence about the context sensitivity of metaphysical explanation. In what follows we test the judgements of non-philosophers, and find that amongst non-philosophers, at least, metaphysical explanations are context-sensitive. We then consider the implications of this finding for theorising about metaphysical explanation.

The prion strain 301V, is a mouse passaged form of bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE). It has been used as a model of BSE for more than 20 years, in particular in the investigation of tissue distribution of infectivity, the molecular phenotype and transmission properties of BSE, strain typing assays and prion inactivation studies. Most 301V experiments have required murine bioassay as a method for the quantitation of infectivity. To date this model strain has not been studied with the protein misfolding cyclic amplification assay (PMCA) which detects prion-associated PrPSc protein. The detection of BSE PrPSc by PMCA can be more sensitive than mouse bioassay and is carried out in a much shorter time frame of days as opposed to months/years. Here, we describe the development of a new highly sensitive and specific PMCA assay for murine 301V and assess the sensitivity of the assay in direct comparison with murine bioassay of the same material. This in vitro assay detected, in a few days, 301V at a brain dilution of at least 1x10-9, compared to bioassay of the same material in VM mice that could detect down to a 1x10-8 dilution and took >180 days. The 301V PMCA may therefore offer a faster and more sensitive alternative to live animal bioassay when studying the BSE agent in VM mice.

Resumen
ABSTRACT The Oil Pollution Act of 1990 requires identification of sensitive areas through the area contingency planning process. In 1992, a process was begun in Alaska to identify and document information about sensitive areas that could be affected by oil spills. Sensitive areas are based on natural resources and human uses, such as wildlife habitats, land management designations, fish hatcheries, cultural resources, hunting and fishing locations, and community water intakes. At the request of the U.S. Coast Guard, a Sensitive Areas Work Group (SAWG) was established in 1992 to prepare the “Sensitive Areas Section” of Alaska's first Subarea Contingency Plan (SCP). The SAWG continues to identify sensitive areas for all 10 subareas of the state, covering 365 million acres of land and 47,000 miles of shoreline. The SAWG coordinates with and reviews sensitive areas identification and mapping carried out by federal and state agencies and oil spill response cooperatives. SAWG participants vary by subarea, but include federal and state natural resource trustee agencies, local governments, nonprofit organizations, oil spill response cooperatives, and oil industry companies. In 1995, the SAWG prepared a 5-year strategic plan with these objectives: (1) establish a process to develop and maintain sensitive areas information; (2) present, in a standard format, sensitive areas information in all 10 SCPs; (3) map sensitive areas and develop more detailed computer-generated maps; and (4) provide input to the development of detailed response plans. Results to date include: (1) establishment of the SAWG as a statewide team for identifying and maintaining sensitive areas information for spill response planning; (2) completion of sensitive areas sections for all 10 SCPs; (3) participation with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) in preparing environmental sensitivity index (ESI) maps/data files for four subareas and initiating work on five others; and (4) participation in the creation of over 75 site-specific response strategies prepared by stakeholder teams for high-risk sensitive areas. The cooperative process used in Alaska could serve as a model for sensitive areas identification elsewhere.

Resumen
A shortcut review was carried out to see whether the hook test is sensitive enough for a negative result to exclude complete distal biceps tendon rupture (DBTR) in adults. 3 papers presented the best evidence to answer the clinical question. The author, date and country of publication, patient group studied, study type, relevant outcomes, results and study weaknesses of these papers are tabulated. It is concluded that the hook test is moderately sensitive at detecting complete DBTR when carried out by skilled clinicians in specialist upper limb clinics. As a single test, it is not sensitive enough to be used to exclude complete DBTR.

Resumen
This article studies the stock price reaction to Seasoned Equity Offerings (SEOs) through the right issue technique, for Italian listed companies in the period between 2007 and 2016. A few days before the starting date of the capital increase operation, investors are provided with a complete information set of the final characteristics of the equity offerings. The study investigates whether this further information is price sensitive. An event study analysis is performed around two price sensitive dates: the “announcement date” of the equity issue and the “communication date” of its final characteristics. It also focuses on the reasons underlying the offer and on the industry effect. The findings show a significant negative abnormal return at the communication date for the full sample and for companies collecting financial resources for “Corporate Finance Transaction”, for "Capital Adequacy" and for “Restructuring”. A negative market reaction for all sectors is observed as well. Eventually, the article examines the possible causes underlying the negative stock price reaction at the communication date. The results suggest that the dilutive effect is the main explanation to the stock price overreaction.

Resumen
Abstract Insulin lispro is an insulin analog in which the primary sequence has been altered by the inversion of amino acids B28 and B29. To date, it has not been possible to specifically measure insulin lispro in the presence of endogenous insulin because of the high degree of homology between these peptides. However, the specific determination of insulin lispro offers advantages over quantifying total concentrations of immunoreactive insulin. We therefore immunized guinea pigs and screened for antibodies with increased affinity and selectivity for insulin lispro. We prepared a monospecific antiserum by a novel immunoadsorption strategy using despentapeptide insulin. The antiserum was used to develop a competitive RIA for insulin lispro. The RIA has a low limit of quantification (17.2 pmol/L); has no interference from insulin, proinsulin, or C-peptide; and has interassay CVs of 2.6–13.4%. The new RIA is useful for measuring serum concentrations of insulin lispro.

Resumen
In recent years, stimulus-sensitive drug delivery systems have been developed for parenteral administration as a depot system. In situ systems incorporate smart polymers that undergo a phase transition at the site of administration. All parenteral and ocular dosage forms must meet sterility requirements. Careful selection of the sterilization method is required for any type of stimuli-sensitive system. Current sterilization methods are capable of altering the conformation of polymers or APIs to a certain extent, ultimately causing the loss of pharmacological and technological properties of the drug. Unfortunately, the issues of risk assessment and resolution regarding the sterilization of stimuli-sensitive systems, along with ways to stabilize such compositions, are insufficiently described in the scientific literature to date. This review provides recommendations and approaches, formulated on the basis of published experimental data, that allow the effective management of risks arising during the development of in situ systems requiring sterility.

Resumen
This work starts with the TWISCO baseline, a benchmark of suicide-related content from Twitter. We find that hyper-parameter tuning can improve this baseline by 9%. We examined 576 combinations of hyper-parameters: learning rate, batch size, epochs and date range of training data. Reasonable settings of learning rate and batch size produce better results than poor settings. Date range is less conclusive. Balancing the date range of the training data to match the benchmark ought to improve performance, but the differences are relatively small. Optimal settings of learning rate and batch size are much better than poor settings, but optimal settings of date range are not that different from poor settings of date range. Finally, we end with concerns about reproducibility. Of the 576 experiments, 10% produced F1 performance above baseline. It is common practice in the literature to run many experiments and report the best, but doing so may be risky, especially given the sensitive nature of Suicide Ideation Detection.

Resumen
Stimulated by the increase in user demands and the development of intelligent driving, the automotive industry is pursuing high-bandwidth techniques, low-cost network deployment and deterministic data transmission. Time-sensitive networking (TSN) based on Ethernet provides a possible solution to these targets, which is arousing extensive attention from both academia and industry. We review TSN-related academic research papers published by major academic publishers and analyze research trends in TSN. This paper provides an up-to-date comprehensive survey of TSN-related standards, from the perspective of the physical layer, data link layer, network layer and protocol test. Then we classify intelligent driving products with TSN characteristics. With the consideration of more of the latest specified TSN protocols, we further analyze the minimum complete set of specifications and give the corresponding demo setup for the realization of TSN on automobiles. Open issues to be solved and trends of TSN are identified and analyzed, followed by possible solutions. Therefore, this paper can be an investigating basis and reference of TSN, especially for the TSN on automotive applications.

Resumen
Nursing-sensitive outcomes are those outcomes attributable to nursing care. To date three main reviews have summarized the evidence available regarding the nursing outcomes in onco-haematological care. Updating the existing reviews was the main intent of this study; specifically, the aim was to map the state of the art of the science in the field of oncology nursing-sensitive outcomes and to summarise outcomes and metrics documented as being influenced by nursing care. A scoping review was conducted in 2021. The MEDLINE, Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health, Web of Science, and Scopus databases were examined. Qualitative and quantitative primary and secondary studies concerning patients with solid/haematological malignancies, cared for in any setting, published in English, and from any time were all included. Both inductive and deductive approaches were used to analyse the data extracted from the studies. Sixty studies have been included, mostly primary (n = 57, 95.0%) with a quasi- or experimental approach (n = 26, 55.3%), conducted among Europe (n = 27, 45.0%), in hospitals and clinical wards (n = 29, 48.3%), and including from 8 to 4615 patients. In the inductive analysis, there emerged 151 outcomes grouped into 38 categories, with the top category being ‘Satisfaction and perception of nursing care received’ (n = 32, 21.2%). Outcome measurement systems included mainly self-report questionnaires (n = 89, 66.9%). In the deductive analysis, according to the Oncology Nursing Society 2004 classification, the ‘Symptom control and management’ domain was the most investigated (n = 44, 29.1%); however, the majority (n = 50, 33.1%) of nursing-sensitive outcomes that emerged were not includible in the available framework. Continuing to map nursing outcomes may be useful for clinicians, managers, educators, and researchers in establishing the endpoints of their practice. The ample number of instruments and metrics that emerged suggests the need for more development of homogeneous assessment systems allowing comparison across health issues, settings, and countries.

Texto completo
Resumen
Most of the effects of the signalling molecule nitric oxide (NO) are mediated by the stimulation of the NO-sensitive GC (guanylate cyclase) and the subsequent increase in cGMP formation. The enzyme contains a prosthetic haem group, which mediates NO stimulation. In addition to the physiological activator NO, NO-sensitizers like the substance YC-1 sensitize the enzyme towards NO and may therefore have important pharmacological implications. Two isoforms of NO-sensitive GC have been identified to date that share regulatory properties, but differ in the subcellular localization. The more ubiquitously expressed α1β1 heterodimer and the α2β1 isoform are mainly expressed in brain. In intact cells, NO-induced cGMP signalling not only depends on cGMP formation, but is also critically determined by the activity of the enzymes responsible for cGMP degradation, e.g. PDE5 (phosphodiesterase 5). Recently, direct activation of PDE5 by cGMP was demonstrated, limiting the cGMP increase and thus functioning as a negative feedback. As the cGMP-induced PDE5 activation turned out to be sustained, in the range of hours, it is probably responsible for the NO-induced desensitization observed within NO/cGMP signalling.

Resumen
Data sharing has gained tremendous attention in the past few years. Information being the driving power of all strategic decision-making changes as organizations aim to improve their efficiency by sharing insights within departments and collaborating with partners. However, protecting the confidentiality of sensitive information is still one of the biggest challenges when sharing these valuable assets between differ partakers. Blockchain has been one of the technologies that are being explored to solve this problem. Blockchain technology had been renowned as a means of secure asset tracking, provide immutable transaction sharing and had been proven to limit the amount of trust collaborating parties needed to exchange sensitive data. In this paper, we hover the up-to-date, relevant techniques and propositions with regards to confidential data sharing using blockchain related approaches. We will provide a comprehensive comparison between different techniques based on the widely used frameworks and technical schemes summoned and cite the challenges blockchain based applications face in the realm of confidentiality preserving data sharing.

Resumen
IntroductionThe introduction of poly-ADP ribose polymerase inhibitors in ovarian cancer has demonstrated significantly improved progression free survival in four randomized controlled clinical trials in patients with platinum sensitive relapsed ovarian cancer. While overall survival data remain immature, this real world evidence study sets a baseline for future evaluation of poly-ADP ribose polymerase inhibitors.MethodsA retrospective chart review was undertaken to investigate real world survival outcomes across 13 National Health Service Trusts in England, Wales, and Scotland. Patients were included if they had platinum sensitive relapsed high grade serous ovarian cancer and had responded to secondline platinum based chemotherapy. Clinical data were collected retrospectively from electronic prescribing records and chart notes. The index date for overall survival analysis was defined as the later of (1) day 1 of the final secondline platinum based treatment or (2) date of response to secondline treatment. The primary objective was overall survival from the index date. Secondary objectives included progression free survival and overall survival by subsequent line of treatment. BRCA mutation status was collected where available. Quality of life questionnaires were not assessed within this study.Results233 patients were identified who met the study inclusion criteria. Patient characteristics were consistent with other published data, with a median age of 61 years (range 35–85). Sensitivity analysis of the primary objective demonstrated that the earliest point poly-ADP ribose polymerase inhibitors may be initiated (following completion of secondline chemotherapy) is associated with a median overall survival of 19.8 months. Secondline median overall survival and progression free survival from the index date were 19.3±2.4 months and 7.3±1.2 months, respectively. 144 patients were treated with thirdline chemotherapy with median overall survival and progression free survival from the index date (either date of last cycle of thirdline treatment or date of response to thirdline treatment) of 8.3±2.6 and 4.4±1.8 months, respectively.ConclusionOverall survival was shown to be shorter in this real world study compared with randomized clinical trials, and underlines the differences in clinical outcomes of patients in a real life setting. This baseline real world study has demonstrated poor survival outcomes in this patient group prior to availability of poly-ADP ribose polymerase inhibitors.

Resumen
The mitochondrial ATP-sensitive K(+) (mitoK(ATP)) channel was discovered more than a decade ago. Since then, several pharmacological studies have identified agents that target this channel some of which selectively target mitoK(ATP). These and other studies have also suggested that mitoK(ATP) plays a key role in the process of ischemic preconditioning (IPC) and prevention of apoptosis. The mechanism by which mitoK(ATP) exerts its protective effects is unclear, however, changes in mitochondrial Ca(2+) uptake and levels of reactive oxygen species, and mitochondrial matrix swelling are believed to be involved. Despite major advances, several important issues regarding mitoK(ATP) remain unanswered. These questions include, but are not limited to: the molecular structure of mitoK(ATP), the downstream and upstream mechanisms that leads to IPC and cell death, and the pharmacological profile of the channel. This review attempts to provide an up-to-date overview of the role of mitoK(ATP) in cardioprotection.

Resumen
e16080 Background: Corticosteroids (CS) have been integral in metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC) treatment and can be used alongside life-extending therapies (LETs), despite potential toxicity effects. LET and CS timing and adherence were examined in CRPC patients in the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) dataset with conditions sensitive to CS use. Methods: Diagnosed prostate cancer patients with evidence of medical/surgical castration, at least two following prostate-specific antigen (PSA) increases (third PSA value date was the index), and ≥1 claim for cabazitaxel, docetaxel, or abiraterone acetate 06/2007-05/2012 were examined. Adherence was the total overlapping days of CS and LET prescriptions divided by total LET prescription days (≥0.8). Comorbid conditions were measured for 6 months pre-index date. Descriptive analysis, Cox proportional hazards, and logistic regression models summarized therapeutic/clinical features of CRPC or the CS-adherent patient subset. Results: Common CS-sensitive conditions among 15,585 mCRPC patients included hypertension (58.94%) and hyperlipidemia (42.56%). Fewer glaucoma (hazard ratio [HR]: 0.67), ischemic heart disease (HR: 0.78), and peripheral vascular disease (HR: 0.78) patients were prescribed LETs (all p<0.01). mCRPC treated patients with comorbidities (N=858) were significantly older (71.27 vs. 68.94 years, p<0.01) and more often exhibited bone metastases than those without (42.42% vs. 29.73%, p<0.01). After treatment initiation, mCRPC patients with comorbidities had a shorter LET duration (125.02 vs. 133.08 days, p=0.04) within the 6-month follow-up period. Factors associated with reduced CS adherence (≥0.8) included cerebrovascular disease (odds ratio=0.0107, 95% CI: 0.012-0.966) and peripheral vascular disease (odds ratio=0.523, 95% CI: 0.276-0.991). Conclusions: Conditions sensitive to CS influence the LET receipt and duration and are associated with lower adherence when compared to non-CS-sensitive conditions. Attention should be focused on treatments using alternatives to CS for sensitive mCRPC patients.

Resumen
Drug Facilitated Sexual Assaults (DFSA) is one of the complex and sensitive cases in a criminal investigation. Cases involving date rape drug has increased exponentially in recent years. Some common drugs used in date rapes cases are Gamma-hydroxybutyric acid (GHB), Benzodiazepines, Rohypnol, Ketamine (KET), etc. These drugs are either used alone or with combination to facilitate sexual assault/rape. Date rape drugs are generally added to eating or drinking items intending to take advantage of the situation. A date rape drug alters the consciousness, lowers self-control, makes the body physically weak, or inhibit the ability of a person to oppose sexual assault. This paper focuses on drugs used in a date rape scenario, its effect, collection, biological samples, and forensic analysis.

Resumen
In recent decades, global and local vegetation phenology has undergone significant changes due to the combination of climate change and human activities. Current researches have revealed the temporal and spatial distribution of vegetation phenology in large scale by using remote sensing data. However, researches on spatiotemporal differentiation of remote sensing phenology and its changes are limited which involves high-dimensional data processing and analysing. A new data model based on data cube technologies was proposed in the paper to efficiently organize remote sensing phenology and related reanalysis data in different scales. The multidimensional aggregation functions in the data cube promote the rapid discovery of the spatiotemporal differentiation of phenology. The exploratory analysis methods were extended to the data cube to mine the change characteristics of the long-term phenology and its influencing factors. Based on this method, the case study explored that the spring phenology of Qinba Mountains has a strong dependence on the topography, and the temperature plays a leading role in the vegetation green-up date distribution of the high-altitude areas while human activities dominate the low-altitude areas. The response of green-up trend slope seems to be the most sensitive at an altitude of about 2000 meters. This research provided a new approach for analysing phenology phenomena and its changes in Qinba Mountains that had the same reference value for other regional phenology studies.

Resumen
To date, hypolipidemic drugs of the statin group are among the most popular therapeutic agents used for the prevention and treatment of the most common worldwide atherosclerotic cardiovascular diseases (CVD). Therefore, considerable attention of researchers is focused on statins to study the additional effects of these drugs, which is accompanied by the discovery of new mechanisms of action and properties that should be taken into account to optimize the tactics of managing patients with CVD. In addition to the key lipid-lowering effect of statins associated with the inhibition of the ratelimiting enzyme (3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl-coenzyme A reductase), researchers report a variety of other properties of these drugs. Important circumstances contributing to the disclosure of new effects of statins are: improvement of research methods, and first of all, their sensitivity and specificity; the discovery of new molecules and molecular pathways that may be affected by statins. In general, the currently established numerous non-lipid effects of statin drugs can be divided into two groups: favorable and side effects, which must be taken into account when managing patients with CVD and comorbid diseases. Thanks to recent studies using modern clinical diagnostic cardiomarkers (highly sensitive cardiac troponins (CT)), molecular genetic and morphological methods, potential cardiotoxic properties of statin group drugs have been identified. Of particular concern are the data on a statininduced increase in the concentration of highly sensitive CT, which are a key and generally recognized criterion for myocardial damage. In this article we discuss possible mechanisms of increasing the concentration of CT and cardiotoxic effects when using statins.
