Texto completoDetta examensarbete är ett produktutvecklingsprojekt som har utförts i samarbete med Svea Teknik AB. Syftet med examensarbetet är att jämföra en ny kölkonstruktion utfört i ett kompositmaterial mot en av dagens kölkonstruktioner. Svea Teknik har utvecklat och patentetat en ny konstruktion för hur ett kölblad skall fästas mot segelbåtens skrov. Behovet av en ny kölinfästning är mycket stort då antalet segelbåtar som skadas kraftigt vid en grundstötning har ökat kraftigt de senaste åren. Idag gör båttillverkarna anläggningsytan mellan köl och skrov liten och smal (”fenköl”) och kölbladet går mycket djupare i vattnet än tidigare, därför ställs det stora krav på kölinfästningen när kunderna efterfrågar segelbåtar som seglar snabbt. Examensarbetet är inriktat på att ta fram ett nytt kölblad utfört i ett kompositmaterial samt att undersöka hur kölbladet ska fästas mot en deformerbar platta. Därefter har en jämförelse mellan den nya kölkonstruktionen och dagens Albin express kölkonstruktion utförts. Jämförelsen har utförts med avseende på pris, prestanda, produktionsteknik, underhåll och reparationer. I examensarbetet presenteras tre koncept för att fästa kölbadet mot en deformerbar platta. Ett av de tre koncepten bygger på att integrera kölbladet och den deformerbara plattan, detta koncept anses som den bästa lösningen. Den främsta anledningen är att den deformerbara plattan och kölbladet kan tillverkas av samma material samt i samma tillverkningsprocess. För en Albin express med det nya integrerade kompositkonceptet blir totalvikten 15 % lättare än dagens Albin express. Med den nya infästningen kan kraften som kölinfästningen utsätts för vid en grundstötning reduceras med minst en faktor 6, i jämförelse med dagens kölinfästning på en Albin express. En av de stora nackdelarna med den nya kölkonstruktionen är att den blir mer än dubbelt så dyr jämfört med att tillverka ett kölblad i järn. Slutsatserna av arbetet är att det går att reducera båtens totalvikt ytterliggare och erhålla ännu bättre seglingsegenskaper om man väljer att låta kölbladet gå djupare i vattnet. Denna förstudie visar att det är fördelaktigt att använda sig av ett kölblad utfört i ett kompositmaterial och integrera kölbladet med en deformerbar platta i samma material.

Texto completoThrough extensive research it has shown that today’s sail boat owners are very frustrated concerning the limited choice of engine alternatives offered by today’s market. Besides rising fuel-costs, environmental awareness is very important in today’s society. Hence it is vital to find alternative environmental-friendly motors and replace combustion-engines.
Zilent Ocean is an extensive project within Development engineering program at Halmstad University. The Project aims at minimizing environmental impact on our seas through limiting the usage of combustion-engines in sail boats. Zilent Ocean’s major target is the development of a customer-oriented company offering electric conversion kits of combustion-engines to sail boats at very competitive market prices.
The Project was carried out by converting the combustion-engine in a MAXI 77 sailing boat (7.7m length, 5 beds). The current diesel-engine installed in the boat was replaced with a new DC electrical engine together with the appropriate controller unit.
The finished sail boat prototype will be evaluated under the summer of 2009. The sail boat contains unique solutions enabling a more cost-efficient system in comparison with today’s combustion-engines. The aim is to provide a complete electric conversion kit at a lower price than a new combustion-engine. Together with lower investment costs, minimal maintenance and running costs, electrical conversion from Zilent Ocean is bound to be the future, and the natural decision for many sailors in Scandinavia.

Texto completoWhen a sailing yacht runs aground, it often sustains severe structural damage to the keel and the ship hull, and, as a consequence, expensive repairs. During the last few years the resulting costs of these incidents have increased; consequently it brings the keel attachment design to the fore. Conventional keels are mounted to the ship with the use of long keel bolts stretching from the keel bulb up through the hull laminate. These conventional solutions are in no way designed to withstand the forces acting on the keel attachment during severe grounding. Svea Teknik AB has developed and patented a new type of keel attachment that gives rise to elastic deformation in case of grounding, as well as good sailing performance. Compared to conventional keel attachments, this solution allows the boat to retard for a longer distance, thus effectively reducing the retardation. It also absorbs the kinetic energy in a better way, which reduces the damage to the boat and keel attachment. One of the key aspects associated to this product is that several insurance companies are prepared to offer the boat owner a reduced price for their boat insurance if the boat is equipped with a keel protective device. The construction is manufactured in steel and has been implemented in three copies of the sailing yacht Aspect 40. Svea Teknik now wishes to modify the design to be suitable for composite materials. This master thesis includes a pilot study of this particular keel attachment with the objective to replace the steel with a suitable fiber reinforced polymer. The focus is directed to the plate (also called membrane) to which the keel attaches, and is where the elastic deformation takes place. In this pilot study, the analysis is mainly focused on the strength and deformations that the membrane is subjected to, for different types of geometries, composite materials and composite fiber directions. SolidWorks Simulation integrated composite module is used in the analysis. The loads (primarly grounding-force and side-force) are calculated using the upcoming ISO 12215-9-standard, applied for small boats. The calculations are based on the data coupled to the sailing yacht Najad 355, which corresponds to loads approximately 50 % higher than for the Aspect 40. The simulation results show that it is difficult to achieve sufficient strength (with no permanent damage) and appropriate deformations, using geometries similar to the existing one. This is mainly due to the fact that the center part of the membrane is fixed to the boat hull and therefore limits the deformations and also increases the stresses within the membrane. Subsequent work resulted in a number of new concepts where this problem is reduced or eliminated. The most appropriate fiber direction with given loads is ±45˚ and the composite material should have high fracture strength in the orthogonal fiber direction.

Texto completoThis project has been carried out by the product design engineering students Magnus Arehorn and Niklas Ekholm during the spring of 2016, for the Bachelor Degree Project in Integrated Product Development at the University of Skövde. The project has been in cooperation with Selden Mast AB in Långedrag, Gothenburg, which develops rigging systems and deck hardware for sailboats.Seldén has batten receptacles for sailboats up to 45 feet, but wants to expand their range of products to the market for larger sailboats. The existing batten receptacle is not strong enough for that application which is why a new batten receptacle requires a stronger construction. The goal was to develop a batten receptacle for sailboats between 45 and 60 feet. The purpose of the batten receptacle is to increase the batten’s tension in the mainsail and form the sail more aerodynamic.Opportunities for development were explored by identifying sub functions of the batten receptacle. A pre-study was conducted to research the development opportunities in the areas by ensuring existing solutions through a competitive analysis and by identifying sailmakers’ and sailors’ needs through interviews. The batten receptacle was expected to be of low cost, robust, functional and unique. It was concluded that unique solutions had to be found at a low manufacturing cost.An idea generation was implemented to find concepts with innovative and proven solutions at low costs. Two potential concepts were developed and weighted with the goal to come to one final result. The result was considered to be rare on the market and estimated to have a relatively low manufacturing cost.

Texto completoThe purpose of this thesis work is to construct a model of a sail setting system of a sailboat. This system will automatically adjust the setting of the mainsail of the boat. The reason of having an automatic sail setting system could be to keep the weight down of the boat as the crew weighs more than the system. Other aspects are that sailboat owners, who lack the knowledge or think that it is di-cult to adjust the sails, can use the system to ease the sailing when taking trips with their boat. You will then avoid using the boat's engine and can then save on fuel costs. The setting of the sail is made by measuring with a sensor from where the wind is blowing relative to the hull and due to the wind velocity. Information has been collected to be able to model a sailboat with its components. A mathematical model of the sailboats components has been constructed to know how the mainsail is set for a given input signal to the electric winch as well as how the forces will aect the winch. Finally, the moment of inertia of the components of the boat and its hull has been modeled to capture the dynamics and to more accurately describe motions in the system. The mathematical model of the sail setting system was created in subsystems. In the software Simulink the subsystems were put together to a complete model. The model that is non-linear was linearized due to the reason that linear control theory was used when constructing a leadlag controller. The constructed linear controller was implemented in the non-linear model and several simulations were made with dierent disturbances and loads. The controller and the system fulfillled all the requirements that were specied.

Texto completoBackground: The Stop rule for buying in property was introduced through 1976 years legislation and its formemost purpose was to prevent companies to acquire property that was useless for the company. Assets such as cars, boats and arts were of current interest. At the same time as this stop rule was introduced, another stop rule was also introduced and this was meant to work to forbid the partner to buy property from the close company to a price that would lead to sell at loss for the company. After a government decision (1999:2000, Abolished Stop rules) the close company is no longer living under this restriction since these two stop rules have been abolished since January 2001.
Purpose: The purpose of this thesis is to investigate which criteria are the basis to judge whether the assets is to consider as useful or not for the close company. We also intend to investigate if the partners will use the situation that the two stop rules have been abolished.
Accomplishment: In this thesis our primary data consists of interviews with in all ten persons from nine different companies; three with auditors from Ernst & Young, KPMG and Skarin & Brindelid, two with tax lawyers; one at the Tax Authorities and one with the director of studies at the Juridical Institution at Linköping University, one tax consultant at Ernst & Young and one tax auditor at the Tax Authorities in Norrköping. We also interviewed the administrative director of the Accounting Committee. Finally we interviewed two bank clerks at SEB and Föreningssparbanken.
Result: To decide whether an asset is useful it has shown that it is hard to draw a clear boundary for what should be seen as useful or not. From the literature and the interviews we have been able to stipulate the following criteria for a useless asset; 1. it does not generate profit in the company, 2. it does not lead to future cash flows, 3. it is exclusively referred to the partners private use and the cost for it cannot be carried by the company in the long-term and because of that, the liquid capital in the company will be jeopardized. 4. it is exclusively reffered to the partner´s private use and the partner has not been imposed tax for it. The auditors and the bank clerks think that if a property has been bought by the close company it should be seen as an asset. The tax lawyers and the tax auditor, on the other hand, think that such property is to be seen as private. This boundary problem is based on the fact that Civil law and Tax Law are far away from each other.

Texto completoDenna uppsats är en sammanfattning om hur min designprocess såg ut under våren 2010 då jag arbetade med mitt examensprojekt.
Grundstenarna i projektet var att det skulle vara en produkt som riktade sig mot barn och att jag ville hitta min inspiration i segelbåtar. Att det blev dessa två kombinationer är att jag ville göra någonting som verkligen representerade mig själv. Jag är mycket fascinerad av barn och deras tänk och älskar att arbeta och vara omkring barn. De dömmer en inte som vuxna kan göra och deras synsätt är öppet och har inte blivit allt för påverkat av samhället än.
Segelbåtar sedan beskriver min uppväxt. Är född och uppvuxen på västkusten och båtar och havet har fått stor betydelse för mig. Varenda sommar sedan födseln har spenterats utan på havet.
Med detta i huvudet så påbörjades mitt designarbete. Både blott, svett och tårar spilldes under denna tid. Men när allt väl var färdigt kunde jag inte vara annat än nöjd.
Vårterminens projekt resulterade i ett barnbord/målarbord. Ett bord som i bordsskivan har flera lådor till förvaring av t.ex. sin leksaker eller pennor, samt att hela bordsskivan, även underdelen är målad med griffeltavel-färg. Inspirationen av lådorna fick jag från bordet vi har i vår segelbåt, formen hittade jag på ett papper som var fyllt av skvätt vattenfärg.
