Texto completoThis thesis focuses on students’ expérience of learning an English language discipline at university. The aim is to account for the impact of the EMI environment on the individual social expérience lived by students in situations where they are learning bodily technics. The thesis is part of an activity-based approach in éducation and training sciences using the theoretical and methodological framework of the course of action (Theureau, 2015). The results of the first, exploratory study show that the linguistic disruption introduced by the EMI leads students to adapt their mode of engagement and their focus in situations and to develop an investigative activity based in particular on the indexical and iconic dimensions linked to the actions of peers. The second study, with an ethnographie dimension, emphasises that the EMI environment, which créâtes uncertainty for the students, has the following effects on the functioning and organisation of the group. This gives rise to the emergence of stories for the students, and in particular cooperative interactions. This culture of shared action proved conducive to the development of individual, academie and social constructs. Finally, the last study carried out on an EMI sports practical sequence shows the existence of a learning community which supports students' individual and social development during work situations. The EMI environment makes it possible to construct differentiated knowledge about oneself, one's peers, the teacher and the subject content, in relation to the students’ language level. This research opens up praxeological avenues to support reflective action by proposing the design of new training environments to enhance the learning of students involved in EMI courses

Texto completoThe aim of this work is to increase knowledge of Information Science, its basic concepts and its acceptance as a branch of university education, based on the example of the Universities of Applied Science in Geneva, recently created as a result of the Confederation's political decisions. Our research makes use of the concept of "disciplinarisation" such as it is frequently used in Social Sciences. The analysis of the institutional, professional and disciplinary fields, allows us to circumscribe both the conditions of emergence of a scientific field which wishes to strengthen its status, and the way the disciplinary field is strongly influenced by political decisions, outside the disciplinary field, but whose consequences can play a capital role on the visibility of the discipline. We also take into account the opinion of students, as they will soon be the main actors in the professional field of reference. These ideas lead us to consider teaching Library and Information Science and to propose guidelines, that will lay down the theoretical foundations of a professional university education

Texto completoThis doctoral research is part of the general field of studies on academic persistence at the departments of education and particularly in measurement and evaluation in education. The understanding of academic persistence is based on a longitudinal process in which pre-entry attributes [PEA] and university system experience [USE] are very important to consider. In this context, three components of the Tinto (1997) model on persistence were studied: PEA (family background, personal attributes, prior schooling), USE (academic resources, class experience) and academic persistence. To the author's knowledge, no empirical research has been conducted on this issue. In order to contribute to improving academic persistence, this thesis aims to evaluate the effect of PEA on academic persistence in master’s degree in science and technology and to analyse the role of USE on the relationship between these two variables. Analysis of this role identifies USE’s variables that explain inequalities related to PEA. The research was structured in eight parts: introduction, Burkina Faso education system, problems, theoretical framework, articles 1, 2, 3, general discussion and conclusion. The first three parts present the context of the study as well as the general problems. The fourth part discusses the theories and models on academic persistence, variables and the links between articles that focus on specific issues. The purpose of the first article is to analyze and document existing knowledge about the links between the three variables through a systematic review of scientific literature. Three objectives underlie this goal: (1) How these three variables are operationalized in scientific research? (2) What are the empirical links between pre-entry attributes, the University experience, and academic persistence? (3) What is the role of the USE on the relationship between PEA and academic persistence? Findings indicate that despite different operationalisations, PEA, USE, and academic persistence are interrelated. Only one study suggested the mediation role of USE in the relationship between PEA and academic persistence. The second article question whether the family context (father's profession), personal attributes (gender, age at registration, place of birth), prior schooling (student’s major, graduate point average in high school (GPA), cohorts, time to first registration) predict academic persistence in science and technology. Using the survivor function of Kaplan and Meier (1958) and the Cox regression model (1972) on 14 cohorts of freshmen (n = 13,891), findings show that father’s occupation [other], gender, age at registration, GPA, and cohorts predict academic persistence in mater’s degree in science and technology. The results seem to legitimate the use of the Tinto model (1997) in Africa and Burkina Faso in particular. The third article analyzed the role of the USE on the relationship between PEA and academic persistence in master’s degree in science and technology at the university. The Cox model coupled with inverse odd ratio weighting and bootstrapping methods are used on longitudinal data from 14 cohorts of students (n = 13, 891) to analyze the effect of variables. The results made it possible to determine the type of mediation for each of the CPA variables: indirectonly mediation (father’s occupation [Other], major, age at registration), complementary (GPA), competitive (Time to first registration, University reform); direct-only nonmediation for gender; no-effect nonmediation for the place of birth. The general discussion focused on the findings of the thesis and the potential impact on helping students to complete their program in master’s degree in science and technology. Overall, the results of this thesis made it possible to document knowledge on the links between the three variables, identify the PEA that affect academic persistence and clarify the USE role on the relationship between these two variables. The limitations and perspectives of the research are presented.

Texto completoThe "magister" is an Algerian diploma, appointed by decree in 1976, it was aimed at replacing the doctorate. It comprises, for all disciplines, a pedagogical module that better prepares the magister candidate for his her future teaching ability in higherlevel education. In spite of this decree, no pedagogical training has been implemented, particularly in scientific paths, such as mathematics, physics, chemistry and in technological fields such as mecanic engineering, electronics etc. , wich are the spearhead of the "national development objectives" : acquisition of specialized knowledge restrict foreign co-operation and transfer of technology. It is in these domains that the loss is most visible and easily detected. Our pedagogical and didactic training initiative starting with this decree began in 1986, first limited to one university, it has been extended to the entire country. It aimed to induce high level teachers to reflect on their professional practices, and to conceive with creativity their training activities, instead of difficult contexts characterized by the lack of means or methods. Measures taken to improve "training for teachers", have made "pedagogy" a priority research area. The international contexts of university training in pedagogy, favors this project. In our project, we attempt to elaborate an adequate didactic program (syllabus) for scientifics and technological disciplines. This program should be adapted to the country's specific context ; at the same time a debate surrounding

Texto completoResearching levers which could be used to develop the use of didactics in higher education in physics is at the heart of this thesis. The first part exposes - the questioning of scientific knowledge (Newton laws) - some of the conceptions attributed to the students - the work on the main conceptual tests to highlight these conceptions - a few works on teachers' professional development The second part specifies the methodology used to adapt the selected conceptual test (Force and Motion Conceptual Evaluation) so as to survey first-year students in French higher education. In order to gain a better knowledge of these "new students" (who have graduated since 2013), their results in this test have been compared to some sociological data, then to a previous study, and have lastly been used to highlight new knowledge on lines of argument used vis-a-vis the study of certain movements in physics. The third part - which is devoted to the analysis of the interviews with the higher-education teachers who had been confronted with the results of the students in the conceptual test - presents a rather fine evaluation grid which makes it possible to highlight some possible levers as for instance the existence of educational specialists' specific knowledge, which thwarts a "quick" interpretation of higher-education theachers. The third part ends with an outline modeling the different forms of knowledge involved

Texto completoThis work proposes a teaching approach of the Newtonian theory. One of the central intentions is to justify the concepts and formulae which constitute it, via a progressive pathway enabling to reconstruct them. In particular it is aimed at the notion of terrestrial attraction, which is most of the time asserted, although it is not self-evident. The interpretation of free fall as a natural motion - in Antiquity and still to Galileo — is used to question the Newtonian concept of force. The purpose is to introduce it by showing its dependency to a natural motion of reference, redefined by the first law of motior justifying then its relation to acceleration. This formulation aims at insisting on the specific concept definition of the theory, in order to foster its distinction from the common sense ideas about force and motion. Following this formulation of dynamics, is presented the reasoning - inspired by Newton's one - leading to the relationship between the revolution ol planets, of the Moon, and free fall on Earth. This pathway enables to justify that the force associated to free fall acceleration can be associated to the presence of the Earth. It leads furthermore to the justification of the idea of universa attraction, as well as to the construction of the gravitational force expression. At the epistemological level, the pathway leading to relate these various phenomena highlights the role of unification of a physical theory. A teaching sequence ha been developed on the basis of this approach and experimented with high school and first year university students. One o the results observed is a strong interest of students for the justification of formulae

Texto completoIf some obstacles exist as far as French learning in Madagascar is concerned, they definitely do not originate from the opacity of the signifier since the French language was introduced in Madagascar more than one century ago. Thus, the problem of most Malagasy-speaking pupils and students does not only apply to linguistic system even though the competence in this level is often seen as an obvious gap. However, it could as well be related with culture which results from a complicated system of elements in interaction. This research is based on a survey conducted on the students in Faculté des Lettres et Sciences Humaines at the University of Antananarivo. The survey revealed, among other things, that the complex rapport which the learner has with school, with knowledge, with the present languages, with the set of values in societies, with the others, with the world in general, could, in the case, present itself as a factor which blocks or – on the contrary – as a factor which favours learning

Texto completoThe developments that led to the emergence of a French sport sciences university course were initiated from the physical education's sphere. This filiation makes us wondering, as so far as it breaks with the whole criterions generally admitted by the historiography of academic's innovations (scholarly lineage, Scientifics' level of hoarding and competition, apparent social importance, etc. ). Only an empirical and relational historical outlook shows off the objectives and symbolic internal stakes that mark out the future of the studied universe, as well as the nature of the social logics displayed at the connection of the education, sport and state fields

Texto completoCan the scientific and technical information auxiliary of the historical science builds up, in itself, an historical study ? as an informational product and exclusive activity of a specialized professional corpus, scientific and technical information (ist) - such as books, newspapers or any mode of representation - is an established cultural fact. By this right, it can be the object of a cultural historical study. Studies in the humanities and latin-american society which are considered through ist, constitute the instrumental framework of this demonstration. The institutions in question are displayed in the introductory chapter consecrated to the french apparatus' evolutions and stakes in research and higher education between 1945 and 1990. Four parts which intersect the diachronic and thematic dimensions, are then set to work. The first, french documentary sources specialized in latin america allows one to recognize the characteristic features of documentary material. The second, latin americanism in france : genesis and evolution of the specialized research focuses on ist's producers and users. The intersecting study of different representative data banks is the third part's main object : data banks and the humanities and social sciences : the national center of scientific research and the singular role of the data bank "latin america". The broadening of the cooperative space, set up for the scientific community in the last decade of the century, is examined in the fourth and last part : scientific and technical information confronted with the technological transformations of the 1990's it is clear that in the light of this work, retracing the history of a scientific field makes us understand its transmission modalities. The analysis of ist helps to have a more precise vision of its producers and users

Texto completoWater network, blood circulation, sap flow in a tree are three phenomena studied in different disciplinary fields but all linked with an internal fluid flow. Our work deals with the teaching of such phenomena in undergraduate courses at the university level. Our work is situated within the Nature of Science (NOS) research field and deals with modeling and teachers. We use Pedagogical Content Knowledge (PCK) as our theoretical framework in order to explore the knowledge teachers teach, particularly the strategies dimension. We analyze the structure of the models they introduce, and the empirical contexts and the modeling processes they propose. We also study the pedagogical contexts, especially the use of the history of science and the potential influence of the types of discipline and of training course on the practices. We use a methodology mixing qualitative and semi-quantitative analysis in this exploratory. We made 39 semi-structured interviews of Physics and biology teachers working in different training courses (generalist-engineering physics, technical physics and bio-medical) from 2 countries (France and the USA). We selected the 23 most structured interviews and we analyzed their responses using a grid that we created and refined. We tried to identify the institutional and personal dimensions of the teachers’ way of teaching by examining the similarities and differences among teachers’ families. We show that the ‘Biomedical’ family is homogene in terms of modeling and contextualizing contrary to the ‘generalist-engineering physics’ family and reveal no difference according to the country. We also show that authentic experiments and history of science are rarely introduced in teaching. Questioning teachers about unusual situations helped us to study their expertise

Texto completoThe aim of this essay is to propose a local understanding on the constitution of the professional group of engineer, and more precisely those who target an industrial and commercial career. The essay assemble the historical matters that allow us to replay the complex moves of actors around the creation of superior technical and scientific education centers, implying men or institutions belonging to different environments and having heterogeneous representations of the link between initial education and industrial and commercial careers. The essay underlines the existence of two periods, closely linked to the implication of a collective actor coming fromindustrial world. Inspired by the Mulhouse model, it struggles, beginning the 1870' s, for setting up a connexionbetween the educational and production environments, taking engagements in private initiatives that will result in the birth of a business school and a engineering school, still in operation

Texto completoChanges in the information landscape suggest that it is necessary to acquire an information culture, i.e. technical and practical knowledge of digital tools and awareness of the issues and impacts of information to be retained, disseminated or avoided. However, universities do not systematically integrate training programmes that take this aspect into account. Our research work is situated in the context of a major school, INSA Lyon, which aims to train 'Humanist Engineers'. It questions the possibility for a university library, on the example of the Marie Curie library, to mobilise the necessary resources to encourage the setting up of a training course for information literacy. By crossing the concept of 'competence', its theoretical and practical implications for the construction of competence in the learner, with the concepts of 'information literacy' and 'information culture', we propose a model for the design of teaching-learning aimed at the construction of information literacy. This model becomes our grid for reading and analysing the documents and statements collected. All our data collection, qualitative analysis of documents, interviews with teachers and department heads, and students after the quantitative analysis of a questionnaire survey, contribute to our understanding of our research object, which is presented in this thesis. Despite the limits of this work, inherent to our posture involved in our research field, our global vision of teaching-learning aiming at the construction of information literacy shows the relevance of a training framework, but reveals the blocking points, with in particular the absence of a common vision of the information literacy necessary for engineers. As a result, students' consideration of the components of information literacy remains very heterogeneous. The blockages also lie outside the vision of information literacy and concern training for competences: conception of teaching still impregnated with the epistemic model of transmitted knowledge, collaborations often in a disciplinary or multidisciplinary mode, student rankings that prioritise disciplines, projects sometimes oriented by solutions for a client. Training for informational competence at INSA Lyon would require, before defining complex situations conducive to the mobilisation of skills, a consensus around the 'humanist engineer'. His technical and scientific culture would be recognised; he would be able to assert himself as an engineer particularly suited to relational work, not denying his role and his political responsibility in society, anxious to rely on collective intelligence and the sharing of reliable information within the company. Its training would require an epistemic framework of socio-constructed knowledge, interdisciplinarity, reflection on information and the construction of knowledge with projects put into perspective beyond the current needs of the company. The shared vision of the engineer's output profile, to be constructed according to the programme approach, would allow teacher-librarians to work on new proposals, around information concepts and tools. Our study calls for further work on the pedagogical transformation of higher education and opens up prospects for collaborative research between information and communication sciences, education and training sciences and other disciplines to re-problematise and re-contextualise information literacy in order to develop training for 21st century information literacy

Texto completoThe core of every discussion is student success. In a time when a transformation of teaching practices is encouraged in order to promote student success, where lectures are regarded as traditional, this thesis underlines the large heterogeneity of lectures and shows their effects on students’ practices in terms of note-taking and examination papers-writing. The key question of this study is formulated as follows: how can it be that some students work hard but still fail? Beyond school background and beyond family background, this thesis favors a new entry point: the teaching styles. This study highlights the effects of various teaching styles on different student methods of taking notes and writing examination papers (these different methods are considered as varying degrees of “responsiveness to the didactic contract”). By showing the correlations between teaching styles, note-taking styles and paper-writing styles, this study goes on to define the deciding factors of the complex issue of student success

Texto completoThis thesis deals with writing, learning and teaching/training activities developed in the adult technology-mediated education solutions. It studies the various forms the current “digital revolution” takes; and what writing, learning, teaching/training mean in this context. The pluridisciplinary approach involves research in Education (Andragogy, Psycho and Socio Pedagogy, Philosophy), Anthropology and research in Information Technologies in order to clear up the transformations at work related to the uses of Information Technologies in education. The conceptual interpretation model built allows to empirically check the evolutions of the “scriptural mind” in the fields of basic and universitary training, in groups where writing is at stake (“learning how to write” and “learning by writing”). Our stance as both researcher and practitioner leads us to carry out a “research in the core of action”. The methodological approach is then pragmatic, dialogic and linked to an epistemological frame influenced by the theories of action in education. It combines several investigation techniques (participant observation, study of texts and messages produced on line, survey by means of semi-directive interviews and questionnaires)

Texto completoThis work of thesis is in line with the work of Lahire (1997) and Millet (1999, 2003) on the manners to study and relationships to knowledge of the students, but also those of Chevalier (2008, 2010) on the STAPS students and the relations between amateur career and student career. We also join a sociology attentive to the impact of the ideas (analyzed as cognitive dispositions) on social behavior. From results of questionnaire surveys, interviews with more than 90 STAPS students and graduates and from observations realized within a university, the subject of this research is to question the underlying cognitive processes in the student career, especially to the success of university master's level, the training of a professional and to the occupational integration. It seems that a successful career requires crossing different stages marked by "cognitive"" turning points" (Hughes, 1996), and build cognitive dispositions heterogeneous (sometimes contradictory) that the question is to activate right time. Moreover, a successful student career, ie not only his studies but also his occupational integration, seems to require from the student to enter into a dynamic of "intellectualization" and "professionalization" of certain cognitive dispositions, including reports to knowledge, sport and profession

Texto completoBetween 1880 and 1940, Greek student population in France had been transformated in its main demographic, social (gender, social and geographical origin) and educative (choice of discipline and institution) features. These transformations show the emergence of a new demand for higher studies, wich, among other things, finds its root in the strengthening of social and professional antagonism, as well as in the expansion of French language and French schools in Greece. In the same period, both the Greek and the French state had seek to promote this movement, by granting generously numerous facilities in favour of migrating students. But these same state institutions had been as much interested in regulating this kind of migration, by implementing forms of administrative control that led to the bureaucratisation of student mobility

Texto completoThe subject of this work concerns socially differenciated uses made by paris 1 u. F. R. Philosophy students of their study. After describing these students and their professional destinations, i studied their relationship to culture, their pedagogical choices and their research practices in the master degree. The last element allowed me to treat in a concrete way the question of social determination in philosophy research. This is shown to be highly related to teaching programmes and specifically to the agregation exam. But variables such as scholarly capital (khagne, e. N. S etc. ), social origin, and gender, also play a determining role. I have thus been able to expose the relationship between the research subject treated and the student profil. The study was enlarged to encompass master students in the parisian area, and then doctoral students. This confirmed, taking account of the level of study, the afore-mentionned relationship. The conclusion emphasises the weight of secondary teaching, via the philosophy agregation and the system of preparatory classes, on french university philosophy teaching and its research activities

Texto completoThis thesis focuses on the use of Facebook and digital educational mobile applications as devices for mediating English language learning. It analyses the impact of these nomadic devices on the English language learning of students at the Higher Institute of Educational Sciences of Guinea (ISSEG).The absence of a Digital Language Resource Centre (DLRC) at ISSEG leads teachers and learners to focus on these tools that socialize, transform and transmit knowledge in the pedagogical sphere. Today, these non-formal tools quite naturally mobilize attention and influence practices in one way or another. The aim is to understand how the implementation of a social mediation system supported by free mobile applications from the start of the licence1 influences the learning of English. More concretely, 53 students 1st year served as an experimental group in Basic Writing. The subject we are dealing with has been the subject of several works that are part of a scientific concern of other researchers (Benali et al., 2018; Nijimbere, 2013; Rabardel, 1995, Lave & Wenger, 1991; Hanson & Robertson, 2007, Villemonteix and Khaneboubi, 2014, Béziat, 2012). In Guinea, English is considered a foreign language and is learned late in the academic process. The Institut National de Recherche et d'Action Pédagogique (INRAP) decided in 2013 to overhaul the existing English language curriculum (MOBEL) to cover both upper secondary and lower secondary schools. For INRAP, bachelors enrolled in the English language stream at university would not feel very comfortable and would lack prerequisites. An analysis of 149 transcripts of the Baccalaureate session 2015 shows that they are not the most deserving ones who are oriented at ISSEG. Of the 149 transcripts analysed, 93 have a low average in the Baccalaureate (average < 10/20). That is to say 57% of the 93 have a mark in English < 10/20. The mode and median of the observations stabilize at 10/20 and the average at 9.96. As a result, the failure (46%) and drop-out (22.5%) rates for the English-language Baccalaureate 1 are relatively high at the ISSEG. After the didactic exploitation of the system, the analysis of the academic marks and the texts published in the account allow us to affirm that the practice of Facebook in 1st year has influenced the academic results of the 28 most active students. In Basic Writing, the group1 (experimental) had an average score of 6.39, relatively higher than the group2 (control), which obtained 6.15. Even if this influence is not very significant compared to the averages of the two groups, the individual interviews reflect the positive effect of the community set up.Finally, by wondering about the conditions for the efficient use of open source applications in southern countries, which can promote Basic English skills, most of the respondents test their virtues. However, the fact remains that integrated basic competences remain limited to the lower level of the taxonomy of cognitive-type learning in Bloom’s (1956).In the perspective of research, the generalized use of social networks, free applications by students contribute to the development of learning strategies and also to visual and sound skills, essential for mastering intonation, rhythm and the understanding of English? One wonders how these teacher-trainees will be able to support the university program and thus become professionally qualified ?

Texto completoConceptions on physical education can be considered as a kaleidoscope of different ways of viewing and conceiving our teaching. We are interested in what we call the different "trends" in the 20th century. Our approach is multiple. First it is historical in so far as one of its objectives is to take into account the changes occured in the conceptions of physical education in the course of time and to locate these conceptions in relation with particular characteristics of a given period. Secondly our approach is sociological : we study this subject as a social system with own mode of functioning and producing knowledge, its actors, interactions, conflicts and struggles. Finally, it is epistemological, since we intend to analyse the production of knowledge in the special sphere of physical education. Six trends are thus being studied: ratinal gymnastics by G. Demeny, la ligue d'education physique de P. Tissie, G. Hebert's natural method, educational sport by the sportive and gymnic federation of work, Jean le Boulch's psychocinetics and the trend of motor action by P. Parlebas. The main question is to make out the positive points about each of these trends. An analysis of contents of a carefully chosen corpus leads to defining three study indicators : a thematic indicator (considering the main themes), a semantic indicator (listing the recurring words used by each author), a referential indicator (collecting a groupe of quotations). Owing to these indicators the main tendencies of each trend are determined and then placed again in a historical and sociological context in order to analyse the logics of the production of knowledge. Finally, the different trends are compared to each other thanks to operational comparison creteria. The comparison results in underscoring the faults and dead-ends of each conception, for P. E. Both as a school discipline as well as a university subject (the sciences and techniques of physical and sportive activities). The trend of motor action is the only one escaping it, while opening a nex way to a true epistemology producing new specific knowledge

Texto completoThrough a technological approach to the recovery of the bail in football (soccer), we try to reveal constants allowing us to establish theorical principles that can be reintroduced during the learning and the training of the player. After looking back upon the concepts and theoritical data that are actually available regarding defence tactics in football. We approach learning and training techniques using the most widely used methods. However the empirical technological study which constitutes the main body of work allows us to refine knowledge and know how in this field. The next step is to specifiy the theoritical basis of our methods of intervention taking into account new knowledge being included as basic know how in the curriculum of the teacher and the trainer

Texto completoWe argue that literary reading education, at secondary school and CEGEP levels, can contribute to the development of diverse subject readers—i.e., plural, changing and contradictory subjects—within a historical perspective but able to distance themselves reflexively, aided by their own interpretation of the text and the interpretations of other readers. Firstly, we developed a model for understanding subject reader diversity, based on the critical analysis of a uniform, homogeneous and essentialist concept of the subject that the school should teach and the culture that it wishes to pass on. Secondly, we examined to what extent the diversity of interpretations actually produced by students can effectively establish the mediation of the understanding of self and others as a diverse subject reader. This understanding is inevitably transitory, fragmented, intersubjective and reflexive, given that it is based on the confrontation between different interpretations produced successively by the same reader and simultaneously by several readers. Thirdly, we described and explained how students develop several interpretations of a literary text by using their various subjectivity resources while at the same time appropriating interpretive elements developed jointly with their peers and teacher. In keeping with these hermeneutic and praxeological objectives, we have designed a teaching sequence, based on La plage des songes by S. Péan (1998). This sequence incorporates individual and collaborative reading, writing and speaking activities. It was tested by two teachers, during the first year of lycée studies in France and as part of a CEGEP-level course in Quebec. Our qualitative methodology is intended to promote thorough understanding of seven reader paths, using data gathered through classroom observation, student texts and interviews. This multi-case study confirms that students are capable of linking different subjective resources (cognitive, epistemic, psycho-emotional, sociocultural, axiological), taking a step back from their interpretations and those of their peers, and reflecting on their reading experience. Intersubjective exchanges (particularly between the reading committees) play a significant role in students’ reflexive understanding of the singularity and diversity of their interpretative paths.

Texto completoThe issue of language teaching / learning is acute in many parts of the world. It is in the Middle East region and more particularly in the Lebanese context. French is one of the two main languages of schooling in the country. Learning French at school continues to follow the methodologies for teaching French as a mother tongue or second language. This choice no longer corresponds to reality or prepares young Lebanese for the success of higher education andunivers especially academic writing (in francophone universities). The question of academic writing is increasingly raised where allophone students opt for a francophone university course. The mastery of the written word is at the top of the objectives of the school and the university. Teaching written production is often problematic. Few methods help students develop true discursive competence in the academic context. The situation of the students of the Université Antonine (UA) pushed us to deepen the methodological reflection on the problem of the university writing in the students in Master 2 ( sciences of the Engineer). At the end of their course, these students must write a long and standardized writing, the Projet de Fin d’Études (PFE). This writing allows them to communicate and showcase a scientific innovation in the field of telecommunication. Our first concern, being to find the most suitable methodology for our audience to carry out university activities, led us to question the Action Perspective in all its dimensions. What we call the Perspective Actionnelle Consolidée is therefore a logic that links language to action. The PAC is the pedagogical engineering that allows the didactic development of particular genres by building on the methodological notional set of skills, tasks and strategies. The particularity of our approach lies in the choice of its inscription as part of an Action-research. This type of research allowed us to both analyze the problem and propose a solution. The choice of the Perspective Actionnelle Consolidée gave meaning to the teaching of French in the eyes of students, but also mobilized their skills. The use of the notion of discourse genre has allowed us to identify the characteristics of this standardized academic genre, the PFE, and then to develop adapted activities using authentic media. The findings from the analysis of our choices will open up the possibility for a new curriculum of academic tasks to be formed

Texto completoThe intellectual biography of François Picavet (1851-1921) is an opportunity to explore the early days of the history of mediaeval philosophy as an institutionalised discipline in France from 1880 to 1920. A forgotten figure of the study of mediaeval philosophy, Picavet was a lecturer at EPHE (Religious Sciences department) from 1888 and director of studies from 1907, secretary of the Collège de France in 1904 and lecturer in the history of mediaeval philosophy at the Arts Faculty of the Sorbonne from 1906 onwards. Picavet’s academic career took place within a particular context in which the history of mediaeval philosophy came to be established in a structured and stable manner in French higher education. Like other institutionalised disciplines, the history of mediaeval philosophy benefited from the need for deep-seated reform of the university system, which was expressed in political and scientific circles from around 1860 and continued under the Third Republic, resulting in the emergence of new institutional structures in French higher education (the foundation of EPHE in 1868 and the creation of new courses at the Sorbonne, including a history of mediaeval philosophy course in 1906). Picavet’s original historiography confines the significance of mediaeval philosophical questions, which remain bound to the historical context in which they originated: thus, every philosophical system is the partial expression of a given civilisation, just like the scientific, artistic and craft related expressions which it produces and which characterise it

Texto completoStudies show that that metaphor processing in an L2 could be a challenge for adult non-native speakers notwithstanding the fact that they have already acquired a figurative competence in their L1. However, few studies focus on the subject and even fewer in French as an L2 despite its importance in achieving a high proficiency level. To date, our study is the first to bring together factors such as the cognitive costs of metaphor processing in an L2, working memory capacity, proficiency and the type of metaphor. Our study was conducted on advanced learners of Norwegian as an L1 and native speakers of French as an L1. The subjects performed a metaphor comprehension task with novel and familiar metaphors as well as tasks measuring working memory capacity. The results show that metaphor processing in French as an L2 is influenced by the learners proficiency levels and by the type of metaphor. More importantly, the results indicate that there are degrees of difficulty in metaphor processing depending on degree of familiarity. The study shows trends regarding the influence of working memory which provides some promising leads for future studies
