Resumen
Abstract The theoretical treatment of the scattering of light by LO-phonons under one-photon and two-photon excitation near resonance with the An=2 and Bn=1 exciton levels in a CdS crystal is given. The influence of the complex structure of the top valence band on these levels is taken into account by the use of the perturbation theory. Assumption of the nonzero matrix elements of the dipole transitions between the A and B sub-bands leads to the fact that the linear combinations of the 1s and 2p exciton wave functions conform to the two “perturbed” energy levels. The possible manifestations of this mixing of states in the resonance Raman and hyper-Raman scatterings are considered.

Resumen
The BCFW recursion relation allows to find out the tree-level scattering amplitudes for gluons and tensor gauge bosons in generalized Yang–Mills theory. We demonstrate that the corresponding MHV amplitudes for the tensor gauge bosons of spin-s and n gluons are invariant under conformal group of transformations. This is highly unexpected result for the higher-spin particles, in particular this is not true for the scattering amplitudes of gravitons. We discuss and compare the tree-level scattering amplitudes for the charged tensor bosons with the corresponding scattering amplitudes for gravitons, stressing their differences and similarities.

Resumen
We work on a class of non-stationary vacuum space-times admitting a conformal compactification that is smooth at null and timelike infinity. Via a conformal transformation, the existence of a scattering operator for field equations is interpreted as the well-posedness of a Goursat problem on null infinity. We solve the Goursat problem in the case of Dirac and Maxwell fields. The case of the wave equation is also discussed and it is shown why the method cannot be applied at present. Then the conformal scattering operator is proved to be equivalent to an analytical scattering operator defined in terms of classical wave operators.

Resumen
Conformal symmetry always played an important role in field theory (both quantum and classical) and in gravity. We present construction of quantum conformal gravity and discuss its features regarding scattering amplitudes and quantum effective action. First, the long and complicated story of UV-divergences is recalled. With the development of UV-finite higher derivative (or non-local) gravitational theory, all problems with infinities and spacetime singularities might be completely solved. Moreover, the non-local quantum conformal theory reveals itself to be ghost-free, so the unitarity of the theory should be safe. After the construction of UV-finite theory, we focused on making it manifestly conformally invariant using the dilaton trick. We also argue that in this class of theories conformal anomaly can be taken to vanish by fine-tuning the couplings. As applications of this theory, the constraints of the conformal symmetry on the form of the effective action and on the scattering amplitudes are shown. We also remark about the preservation of the unitarity bound for scattering. Finally, the old model of conformal supergravity by Fradkin and Tseytlin is briefly presented.

Resumen
We establish a geometric scattering theory for a conformally invariant nonlinear wave equation on an asymptotically simple space-time. The scattering operator is defined via some trace operators at null infinity, and the proof is decomposed into three steps. A priori linear estimates are obtained via an adaptation of the Morawetz vector field to the Schwarzschild space-time and a method introduced by Hörmander for the Goursat problem. A well-posedness theorem for the characteristic Cauchy problem on a light cone at infinity is then obtained. Its proof requires a control of the nonlinearity that is uniform in time and follows from, both, an estimate of the Sobolev constant and a decay assumption on the nonlinearity of the equation. Finally, the trace operators on conformal infinity are introduced and allow us to define the conformal scattering operator of interest.

Resumen
We review non-conformal domain decomposition methods (DDMs) and their applications in solving electrically large and multi-scale electromagnetic (EM) radiation and scattering problems. In particular, a finite-element DDM, together with a finite-element tearing and interconnecting (FETI)-like algorithm, incorporating Robin transmission conditions and an edge corner penalty term , are discussed in detail. We address in full the formulations, and subsequently, their applications to problems with significant amounts of repetitions. The non-conformal DDM approach has also been extended into surface integral equation methods. We elucidate a non-conformal integral equation domain decomposition method and a generalized combined field integral equation method for modelling EM wave scattering from non-penetrable and penetrable targets, respectively. Moreover, a plane wave scattering from a composite mockup fighter jet has been simulated using the newly developed multi-solver domain decomposition method.

Resumen
In order to study the problem that the array manifold of conformal arrays deviates from the ideal value due to the sound scattering caused by the rigid baffles of arrays, in this paper, the influence of the scattering phenomenon caused by the rigid baffle on the receiving response of array is analyzed by using sound field prediction method based on a conformal array-semi-cylindrical volume array. The sound field distribution of conformal array at different angles is calculated by using the sound field modeling and simulation. Based on the above distribution, an actual array manifold is constructed under consideration of rigid barrier, and its variation under the influence of scattered sound is analyzed. The variation is described by two physical quantities defined in this paper: the first-order response composed of amplitude and phase and the second-order response composed of cross-correlation. Simulation shows that compared with the ideal model, the scattered signals generated by rigid baffles on conformal array varies with the azimuth and signal-to-noise ratio(SNR), which further leads to the deviation of each hydrophone of conformal array. The experimental data verifies that the simulation results are basically consistent with the actual situation. The effect of the scattering on the conformal array should be considered when designing and performing in practice.

We analyze small-x deeply virtual Compton scattering data using flexible generalized parton distribution models to pin down both the skewness and t dependence. We compare our outcome at t = 0 with the full Shuvaev transformation. We point out that this integral transform is a model which is equivalent to a conformal generalized parton distribution and a minimalist "dual" parameterization. Some mathematical subtleties of conformal representations are recalled.

Resumen
Examination of the allometric scaling of light absorption (acell) and scattering (bcell) by 28 phytoplankton species showed that light absorption is scaled to the cross-sectional area of the cells (log acell (square micrometres per cell) = −1.06 + 2.32 log d (micrometres)) whereas light scattering is scaled to their volume (log bcell (square micrometres per cell) = −1.09 + 3.45 log d (micrometres)). The scaling of light absorption to the cross-sectional area of algal cells is explained by a decrease in intracellular chlorophyll a concentration as cell size increases, thereby avoiding inefficient light capture by photosynthetic pigments. The scaling of light scattering to cell volume conforms to the general theory for large particles (Mie theory). Light absorption by phytoplankton cells, unlike light scattering, deviates from that of nonliving particles because of the covariation between pigment content and cell size that help prevent self-shading.

Resumen
AbstractAim:The purpose of this study is to investigate the feasibility of proton arc therapy (PAT) using the double-scattering MEVION-S250 proton system. The treatment planning and dose delivery parameters from PAT were compared with conventional treatment planning techniques.Materials and methods:PAT was simulated with multiple conformal and fixed-aperture beams (5–15) using the MEVION-S250-double-scattering proton system. Conformal apertures were simulated with the Eclipse-treatment-planning system: (a) using a static single aperture that provides the best average conformal circular or rectangular apertures to cover the tumour from different angular views (SPAT), and (b) dynamic conformal apertures of the tumour shape at each irradiation angle that can be obtained from a multi-leaf-collimator system (DPAT).Results:The DPAT and SPAT plans provided superior dose coverage and sparing of normal tissues in comparison with conventional plans (CPT). The entrance normal tissue and skin doses (<40%) were lowered significantly by delivering dose from different directions over a wider angular view compared to conventional plans that have large entrance dose from only two fields. While the mean and minimum doses from PAT and CPT were comparable, the maximum doses from arc plans were lower than the maximum doses in conventional plans. The SPAT and DPAT plans had comparable dose parameters for regularly shaped targets. The heterogeneity index (HI) was superior in PAT plans which improved with increasing number of beams in arc plans for the different treatment sites. The conformality index (CI) depends on the treatment site and complexity of the shape of the planning target volume where for brain, pancreatic and lung tumours, PAT plans conformality was comparable and sometimes superior to CPT; and HI and CI were generally better in DPAT compared to SPAT.Conclusions:PAT plans have superior dose coverage and sparing of normal tissues compared to CPT plans using the MEVION double-scattering system as shown in this simulation study. Ideally, conformal proton arcs require beam shaping and dose delivery with the gantry moving; however, the MEVION double-scattering system lacks a multi-leaf collimator system and cannot deliver dose during gantry rotation. The single aperture conformal proton therapy technique is more time and cost effective compared with conventional techniques that are used currently with the MEVION proton therapy system because of the elimination of the need for patient-specific compensators. In present study, PAT was simulated with the MEVION double-scattering proton therapy system; however, it can be performed also with other proton therapy systems.

The generalization of the conformal scattering method for small-angle scattering processes involving magnetic monopoles and ordinary charges is constructed. Using this generalization we show that the introduction of magnetic charges corresponds to analytical continuation of the eikonal amplitude in the complex charge plane (the imaginary part is proportional to the magnetic charge). We calculate explicitly the eikonal amplitude for scattering on a dyon and two monopoles in terms of confluent hypergeometric functions. The singularities of the corresponding amplitudes (focal points) are studied in detail.

Resumen
Clear-air echo studies are usually based on isotropic turbulence theory. But the theory has been considered incomplete by modern turbulence theory. The intermittence of turbulence can reveal obvious shortcomings in the existing studies of clear-air echoes. The mechanism of clear-air echo scattering needs to be supplemented. This paper introduces the troposcatter theory, normally used in over-the-horizon communication, to fill the gap left by Bragg scattering. By treating radar as a self-transmitted and self-received device, the equivalent transmission loss of weather radar is established and compared with the recommendations of the Radiocommunication Sector of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU-R). The results show that the S-band radar transmission loss aligns with ITU-R recommendations. There is also a linear regression relationship between the radar transmission loss and height, which conforms to the troposcatter theory. This means that the theory of troposcatter scattering is a supplement to the theory of Bragg scattering. Tropospheric scattering can be thought of as general Bragg scattering. Meanwhile, based on ITU-R recommendations, this study also provides a new way for the recognition of biological echoes.

Their properties hint at the existence of a 2+1-dimensional conformal field theory of interacting pomerons. Resumen
The conformal perfectly matched layer (PML), i.e., an efficient absorbing boundary condition, is commonly employed to address the open-field scattering problem of electromagnetic wave. To develope a conformal PML exhibiting a significant absorption effect and small reflection error, the present study proposes the constitutive parameter optimization method of obliquely incident reflectivity in terms of the conformal PML. First, the recurrence formula of obliquely incident reflectivity is desired. Subsequently, by the sensitivity analysis of constitutive parameters, the major optimal design variables are determined for the conformal PML. Lastly, with the reflectivity of the conformal PML as the optimization target, this study adopts the genetic algorithm (GA), simulated annealing algorithm (SA) and particle swarm optimization algorithm (PSO) to optimize the constitutive parameters of the conformal PML. As revealed from the results, the optimization method is capable of significantly reducing the reflection error and applying to the parameter design of conformal PML.

Resumen
The unitary limit refers to a scattering problem at infinite scattering length where a scattering state becomes bound. Such a limit is experimentally accessible in systems of cold atoms at the vicinity of Feshbach resonances. In nuclear physics, a physical manifestation of the unitary limit is of interest both from the experimental challenge to measure such a limit in nuclei and from the theoretical aspects that accompany that limit such as conformal symmetry, a quantum critical point and the BCS-BEC crossover. In this talk the application of a symmetry-based approach to the unitary limit in collective states of heavy, even-even nuclei is presented that is performed by means of the Interacting Boson Model of nuclear structure in conjunction with the Feshbach formalism of nuclear reactions. The results of this application start from the determination of what is to be measured in the experiment for the examination of the unitary limit in collective nuclear states. That is the fluctuations of the cross-section of the A+2n compound nucleus. The primary theoretical result concerns the representations of conformal symmetry in A+2n compound nuclei via the fluctuations of cross sections.

Resumen
Abstract We revisit the connection between relativistic orbital precession, the Laplace-Runge-Lenz symmetry, and the t-channel discontinuity of scattering amplitudes. Applying this to scalar-tensor theories of gravity, we compute the conservative potential and orbital precession induced by both conformal/disformal-type couplings at second Post-Minkowskian order (𝒪(GN 2)), complementing the known third/first order Post-Newtonian results. There is a particular tuning of the conformal coupling for which the precession vanishes at leading PN order, and we show that this coincides with the emergence of a Laplace-Runge-Lenz symmetry and a corresponding soft behaviour of the amplitude. While a single scalar field inevitably breaks this symmetry at higher PN orders, certain supersymmetric extensions have recently been shown to have an exact Laplace-Runge-Lenz symmetry and therefore classical orbits do not precess at any PN order. This symmetry can be used to relate scattering amplitudes at different loop orders, and we show how this may be used to bootstrap the (classically relevant part of the) three-loop 2 → 2 scattering of charged black holes in 𝒩 = 8 supergravity from existing two-loop calculations.

Resumen
After a brief introduction to Deep Inelastic Scattering in the Bjorken limit and in the Regge Limit we discuss the operator product expansion in terms of non local string operator and in terms of Wilson lines. We will show how the high-energy behavior of amplitudes in gauge theories can be reformulated in terms of the evolution of Wilson-line operators. In the leading order this evolution is governed by the non-linear Balitsky-Kovchegov (BK) equation. In order to see if this equation is relevant for existing or future deep inelastic scattering (DIS) accelerators (like Electron Ion Collider (EIC) or Large Hadron electron Collider (LHeC)) one needs to know the next-to-leading order (NLO) corrections. In addition, the NLO corrections define the scale of the running-coupling constant in the BK equation and therefore determine the magnitude of the leading-order cross sections. In Quantum Chromodynamics (QCD), the next-to-leading order BK equation has both conformal and non-conformal parts. The NLO kernel for the composite operators resolves in a sum of the conformal part and the running-coupling part. The QCD and [Formula: see text] kernel of the BK equation is presented.

Resumen
In this study, 2D finite element (FE) solving process with the conformal perfectly matched layer (PML) is elucidated to perform the electromagnetic scattering computation. With the 2D monostatic RCS as the optimization objective, a sensitivity analysis of the basic design parameters of conformal PML (e.g., layer thickness, loss factor, extension order and layer number) is conducted to identify the major parameters of conformal PML that exerts more significant influence on 2D RCS. Lastly, the major design parameters of conformal PML are optimized by the simulated annealing algorithm (SA). As revealed from the numerical examples, the parameter design and optimization method of conformal PML based on SA is capable of enhancing the absorption effect exerted by the conformal PML and decreasing the error of the RCS calculation. It is anticipated that the parameter design method of conformal PML based on RCS optimization can be applied to the cognate absorbing boundary and 3D electromagnetic computation.

Moreover there is also evaluated cooling method influence on properties and also injection part morphological structure by methods of wide angle X-ray scattering and differential scanning calorimetry.

Resumen
The scaling region of the nonunitary minimal conformal model M3,5 is described by three different integrable massive field theories. We propose the scattering theory for the integrable deformation of M3,5 by the field ψ with anomalous dimensions [Formula: see text]. The spectrum of this theory is confirmed by the Truncation Conformal Space Approach. We also consider the thermodynamics of the one-dimensional quantum system defined by the transfer matrix relative to the deformation of M3,5 by the field φ with anomalous dimensions [Formula: see text]. This deformation drives the original conformal model into a region of the phase diagram where there are plasma oscillations.

Resumen
This paper presents an isogeometric formulation of the locally-conformal perfectly matched layer (PML) for time-harmonic acoustic scattering problems. The new formulation is a generalization of the conventional locally-conformal PML, in which the NURBS patch supporting the PML domain is transformed from real space to complex space. This is achieved by complex coordinate stretching, based on a stretching vector field indicating the directions in which incident sound waves are absorbed. The performance of the isogeometric PML formulation is discussed through several acoustic scattering problems, spanning from one to three dimensions. It is found that the proposed method presents superior computational accuracy, high geometric adaptivity, and good robustness against challenging geometric features. The geometry-preserving ability inherent in the isogeometric framework could bring extra benefits by eliminating geometric errors that are unavoidable in the conventional PML. Meanwhile, these properties are not sensitive to the location of the sound source or the depth of the PML domain.

Resumen
The null conformal boundary I of Minkowski spacetime M plays a special role in scattering theory, as it is the locus where massless particle states are most naturally defined. We construct quantum fields on I, which create these massless states from the vacuum and transform covariantly under Poincaré symmetries. Because the latter symmetries act as Carrollian conformal isometries of I, these quantum fields are Carrollian conformal fields. This group theoretic construction is intrinsic to I by contrast to existing treatments in the literature. However, we also show that the standard relativistic massless quantum fields in M, when pulled back to I, provide a realisation of these Carrollian conformal fields. This correspondence between bulk and boundary fields should constitute a basic entry in the dictionary of flat holography. Finally, we show that I provides a natural parametrisation of the massless particles as described by irreducible representations of the Poincaré group and that in an appropriate conjugate basis, they indeed transform like Carrollian conformal fields.

Resumen
Understanding the structural organization of chromatin is essential to comprehend the gene functions. The chromatin organization changes in the cell cycle, and it conforms to various compaction levels. We investigated a chromatin solenoid model with nucleosomes shaped as cylindrical units arranged in a helical array. The solenoid with spherical-shaped nucleosomes was also modeled. The changes in chiral structural parameters of solenoid induced different compaction levels of chromatin fiber. We calculated the angle-resolved scattering of circularly polarized light to probe the changes in the organization of chromatin fiber in response to the changes in its chiral parameters. The electromagnetic scattering calculations were performed using discrete dipole approximation (DDA). In the chromatin structure, nucleosomes have internal interactions that affect chromatin compaction. The merit of performing computations with DDA is that it takes into account the internal interactions. We demonstrated sensitivity of the scattering signal’s angular behavior to the changes in these chiral parameters: pitch, radius, the handedness of solenoid, number of solenoid turns, the orientation of solenoid, the orientation of nucleosomes, number of nucleosomes, and shape of nucleosomes. These scattering calculations can potentially benefit applying a label-free polarized-light-based approach to characterize chromatin DNA and chiral polymers at the nanoscale level.

Resumen
We investigate Aharonov-Bohm scattering in a theory in which charged bosonic matter field are coupled to topologically massive electrodynamics and topologically massive gravity. We demonstrate that, at one-loop order, the transmuted spins in this theory are related to the ones of ordinary Chern-Simons gauge theory in the same way that the Knizhnik-Polyakov-Zamolodchikov formula relates the Liouville-dressed conformal weights of primary operators to the bare weights of primary operators to the bare weights in two-dimensional conformal field theories. We remark on the implications of this connection two-dimensional conformal field theories and three-dimensional gauge and gravity theories for a topological membrane reformulation of strings. We also discuss some features of the gravitational analog of the Aharonov-Bohm effect.

Resumen
Abstract A theoretical study of electron scattering by a thermal mixture of glycine molecules in the energy range from 1 to 10 eV is performed using the UK-RMol codes which are based on the R-Matrix method. The six lowest relative Gibbs free energies glycine conformers considered, Ip, IIp, IIn, IIIp, IIIn and IVn, are significantly populated in thermal mixtures. All these conformers present similar resonance structures in the eigenphase sums: a lower-energy resonance state near 1.8 eV and another at higher-energy above 7 eV. For the six conformers the lowest resonance lies between 1.75 eV and 2.21 eV. The very large dipole moments of 6.32 D and 5.67 D for IIp and IIn, respectively, makes the magnitude of their cross sections significantly larger than other conformers, which increases the average cross sections in thermal mixtures compared with the cross sections of the lowest energy Ip conformer. Three conformer population sets are used to calculate the averaged differential and integral cross sections: two theoretical sets based on the the relative Gibbs free energies and another set that aims to mimic experiment based on the observed populations. The averaged cross sections are similar for all population sets, but differ from the Ip conformer cross section. This suggests that, for large and flexible molecules, the computed average cross sections should be used when comparing with experimental data.

Resumen
Abstract In this article, an integrated radiation and scattering performance array conformed with the cylinder is presented. Wideband RCS reduction can be achieved and the radiating performance is maintained without loading any other structures. Two different antenna units with similar radiation performances and different reflection phases are designed to form a 6 × 6 conformal array. To verify the simulation results, a prototype of a 6 × 6 units integrated conformal array was fabricated and measured. The experimental results show that the proposed conformal array has better scanning performance above ±40° in the range of 8.2–11.3 GHz. In addition, the monostatic RCS reduction of the proposed array is more than 5 dB covering the working band of the array antenna with a maximum reduction value of 24.2 dB. The measured results agree well with the simulation results.
