The traffic controlling systems at present are microcontroller-based, which is semi-automatic in nature where time is the only parameter that is considered. With the introduction of IoT in traffic signaling systems, research is being done considering density as a parameter for automating the traffic signaling system and regulate traffic dynamically. Security is a concern when sensitive data of great volume is being transmitted wirelessly. Security protocols that have been implemented for IoT networks can protect the system against attacks and are purely based on standard cryptosystem. They cannot handle heterogeneous data type. To prevent the issues on security protocols, the authors have implemented SVM machine learning algorithm for analyzing the traffic data pattern and detect anomalies. The SVM implementation has been done for the UK traffic data set between 2011-2016 for three cities. The implementation been carried out in Raspberry Pi3 processor functioning as an edge router and SVM machine learning algorithm using Python Scikit Libraries.

The road safety is an area of public security, which is a basic need of every human being. One of the sources of the threats are road traffic offenses related in violation of safety rules. The aim of the article is to analyze road safety throughout the country and in individual provinces. In the study were used spatial and time data included in e.g. in the Regional Bank Data in the years 2001-2014 and the Police research papers available on the Internet. The statistical analysis and application of the Hellwig's taxonomic measure of development allowed the characterization of road traffic offenses in Poland and to identification of regions with the highest level of road safety. It turned out, that despite the presence of a number of negative factors increasing the risk of accidents, the security situation on Polish roads improves. The number of accidents and their victims decreases. Particularly positive changes on Polish roads were noted after the Polish accession to the European Union.

The Car networking based on WiMax and Zigbee technology is mainly adopting WiMax network and Zigbee technology to build traffic information transmission system, using sensor carrying on the real-time data acquisition including the vehicle running and road condition data, with the chip storing date of vehicles or road, thus realizing the information communication between vehicles and vehicles, vehicle and roads, security control of vehicles. Test results show that the system can realize remote communication between vehicles and roads, traffic signs automatic identification, measuring the distance between vehicles and the safety control of vehicles in cases of emergency brake. Compared with traditional network, this network has its advantage with lower cost, easier to deploy and operating. This system is feasible in technique and reasonable in economy, suitable for security applications, such as collision warning, efficiency application, such as road tolling, commercial applications and information entertainment applications, has quite strong practicability.

Over the past few years, because of the popularity of the Internet of vehicles and cloud computing, the exchange of group information between vehicles is no longer out of reach. Through WiFi/5G wireless communication protocol, vehicles can instantly deliver traffic conditions and accidents to the back end or group vehicles traveling together, which can reduce traffic congestion and accidents. In addition, vehicles transmit real-time road conditions to the cloud vehicle management center, which can also share real-time road conditions and improve the road efficiency for pedestrians and drivers. However, the transmission of information in an open environment raises the issue of personal information security. Most of the security mechanisms provided by the existing Internet of vehicles require centralized authentication servers, which increase the burden of certificate management and computing. Moreover, the road side unit as a decentralized authentication center may be open to hacking or modification, but due to personal privacy and security concerns, vehicle-to-vehicle is not willing to share information with each other. Therefore, this study is conducted through blockchain to ensure the security of vehicle-based information transmission. Moreover, the elliptic curve Diffie-Hellman (ECDH) key exchange protocol and a secure conference key mechanism with direct user confirmation combined with the back-end cloud platform Map/Reduce is proposed to ensure the identities of Mappers and Reducers that participate in the cloud operation, avoid malicious participants to modify the transmission information, so as to achieve secure Map/Reduce operations, and improves vehicle and passenger traffic safety.

Dangerous or illegal driving may disrupt the traffic safety management of public security organs, damage road infrastructure, lead to traffic accidents, or result in economic losses. This paper proposes a framework based on China’s highway toll data to identify dangerous or illegal driving risks, such as unfamiliarity with road conditions, overload, driving over the speed limit, fatigued driving, fake license plates, and other risks. The unfamiliarity with road conditions is identified with the frequency of driving routes. When the total weight of a vehicle and its cargo is greater than the upper limit of the total weight of the vehicle and its cargo, the vehicle can be judged as overloaded. When the actual travel time is less than the minimum travel time, it can be inferred that the vehicle has a risk of fatigued driving, driving over the speed limit, a fake license plate, or other risks. Two accidents are used to demonstrate the process of the proposed framework for identifying driving risks based on China’s highway toll data. Additional analysis proves that the proposed framework can be used to identify dangerous or illegal driving risks, and it provides a scientific basis for the traffic safety management of public security organs, reducing infrastructure damage, and avoiding the loss of national taxes and fees.

The construction of the Solo-Yogyakarta toll road is part of the National Strategic Project. At the development stage, toll road infrastructure needs to assess the impact of traffic, considering many security and safety disturbances. Road performance evaluation is essential to overcome traffic problems during toll road operations in the future. The purpose of the study was to calculate traffic performance at the unsignaled intersection affecting the construction of the Solo-Yogya toll road. The locations studied were four Solo-Yogya toll road access intersections using primary data on the condition of existing non-toll roads. Carry out traffic surveys of the number of vehicles, travel time, and vehicle speed. The performance of the unsignaled intersection was calculated using Jica Strada's modeling with applicable toll road tariffs and traffic growth of 5.6% per year. The performance of the unsignaled intersection at the construction of the Solo-Yogya toll road in 2022 has an average Volume-Capacity Ratio (VCR) value of 0.61. In 2046, it has an average Volume-Capacity Ratio value of 0.99. At the intersection of Boyolali-Kartosuro-Banyudono and the intersection Kartosuro-Klaten-Ngaron, it is recommended to make an Interchange before 2032. The recommendation for making the Kartosuro and Boyolali Interchange is because in 2032 the Volume-Capacity Ratio is more than 0.8 to reduce vehicle delays.

The variation in road conditions in relation to traffic congestion overtime enhances the need for proper development of a geospatial platform by comprehensively building and relating the attributes information of the entire road network with respect to various road segments. This is better executed through the concept of dynamic road segmentation. The aim of this study is to carry out geospatial data structure of dynamic road segmentation in Mushin local government area of Lagos State showing the road segment (spatial data) and its topological information.The selected roads within Mushin Local Government were extracted from a street map of Mushin Local Government Area gotten from the office of the Surveyor General of Lagos state. The selected roads were digitized to obtain the spatial information required for the road segmentation. The road vectorization or digitization was carried out in ArcGIS 10.2 software. It was created as a separate shapefile and added as a layer within the GIS environment.The information acquired from the field survey describing the road network as well as the segments i.e. the attribute information, formed a database developed in a GIS platform using ArcGIS 10.2 software. This relational database contains information such as name of road, segment ID, nature of roads, nature of segments, presence of pot holes, presence of crime scenes, presence of congestion, causes of congestion, local inhabitants of segment, length of segments, adjoining land use (to the left and right), mode of transportation along the segment, the traffic condition of the roads and the number of lanes of the road.These large amount of attribute information for all the segment were geospatially referenced with respect to the positions of all the segments and this is the basis of every GIS operation; providing an environment for relating the spatial locations of features with the attribute information describing the spatial feature (which in this case the roads and the road segments represents the spatial feature)Spatial query by attribute as well as location can easily be carried out to select road segments of interest based on predefined criteria using a specific Structural Query Language (SQL) within the GIS environment.Dynamic road segmentation provides a platform for planning and controlling changes on road network. Since the roads are broken down into segments, temporal changes of the road structure as well as the traffic conditions of the roads can be analysed and suitable decisions as well as policies for proper road maintenance can easily be taken and the policies implemented with respect to the segmentation of the roads. It also aids the security organization implementing platform within a GIS environment to monitor the crime scenes with respect to affected segment and would aid in the deployment of security agents at the appropriate locations in case of emergency.In the control of traffic, dynamic road segmentation aid in deciding the alternative conditions to follow since the entire road network have being spatially segmented and the conditions of all the segments built into the GIS database.

This study discusses the public understanding of the contents of Law No. 22 of 2009 regarding Traffic and Road Transportation. This is important, considering traffic and road transportation has an important role to realize the security, prosperity, order traffic and road transportation to support economic development. Methods Research method used is a normative juridical approach, Specifications descriptive analytical research, conducted research stage through the study of literature to examine the primary legal materials, secondary law, and tertiary legal materials. Data collected through the study of documents, and the method of data analysis is done through qualitative normative. The results showed that the understanding of the contents of Law No. 22 of 2009 regarding Traffic and Road Transportation is difficult to measure the level of legal awareness of citizens because there are other factors that affect the example of officials and oversight mechanisms in determining well.Keywords: legal education, legal awareness, understanding, traffic and road transportation law.

The trend toward sustainable city development is associated with intelligent transportation systems (ITS). Automation, efficiency, safety, security, and cost-effectiveness are critical factors in establishing each aspect of a smart city. Real-time data obtained from ITS play an essential role in improving the level of service of road segments, enhancing road safety, and supporting road users with road circumstances information. Travel time information is applicable in travel time maps, decision makings for traffic congestion, dynamic pricing of the network, emergency relief services, traffic flow monitoring, traffic jams management, and air quality analysis. Travel time on a road segment highly depends on geometrical specifications, environmental and weather conditions, traffic flow, and driving behavior. Due to specific driving behavior and road conditions, the above parameters are not essentially applicable in another region. The present research uses the data collected from loop detectors and License Plate Recognition (LPR) systems to develop a Bureau of Public Roads (BPR) model for Iran’s freeway network (Tehran-Qom Freeway). Because of the large amount of data, the SQL server program was used for creating and organizing the database and the BPR model was calibrated using SPSS statistical software. The results of the BPR model were evaluated with an ANOVA test, indicating that the derived model can estimate the travel time at freeway sections with a %5.2 error for the volume-to-capacity ratio (V/C) of less than 0.8.

Traffic congestion and regulating traffic in traffic signals are major issues in cities. Nowadays, in most of the cities, traffic management centers installed numerous cameras all over the roads and traffic signals. Such cameras can be effectively used for the automation of traffic signals. The objective is to develop a real time system that can automatically monitor real time traffic and make the system intelligent using artificial intelligence techniques. Specifically, Deep Convolutional Neural Networks are employed to perform the task. From statistical traffic data, it determines count, type of vehicle, average speed, distance between vehicles, etc. Based on traffic, the algorithm instructs to stop vehicle or queue or move. It can also record a wrong-way driver. Using license plate recognition, security applications such as unauthorized vehicles are identified. If there is violation of traffic rules, they are recorded with registration number. It can detect ambulances and give first preference. The proposed algorithm identifies VIP vehicles and clear traffics in automated ways. Ambulances are given priority to pass the road. The entire system have been developed using a standalone-Graphical User Interface (GUI). We have implemented successfully and the proposed framework performs satisfactorily.

The results of this study ensure that: 1) The implementation process of providing compensation funds to PT. The services of Raharja Meulaboh Branch for victims of road traffic accidents in Meulaboh City are in accordance with the Act. 2)Process of PT. The service of Raharja Meulaboh Branch in providing compensation funds to victims of road traffic accidents in the city of Meulaboh is quite good. However, in this process, it has been found that the victim's/heir's ignorance is that in fact the victim or heir is guaranteed by the social security that has been regulated by law. Therefore, due to the ignorance of the victim or heir that there will be social security, the right or expiration of the right to obtain compensation funds due to the accident of road traffic transportation has resulted. Introduction. Road safety is one of the state targets. One of the indicators of the state of road traffic accidents in state programs is the number of traffic accident-prone section. Reducing their number will lead to a significant increase in the level of security. This is due to the fact that a large number of accidents, deaths and injuries are concentrated in these sections. Therefore, the task of determining the factors of the formation of traffic accidentprone section is relevant.Materials and methods. The study is based on data on accidents that occurred on the federal motorways of the Altai Territory in the period from 2018 to 2021. The procedure for performing the work included three stages. At the first stage, traffic accident-prone section was identified based on the data for 2021. At the second stage, the features of accidents in these sections in previous years were determined. At the third stage, the main factors of accident formation were determined by analyzing the layout of traffic management tools, video material on roads (road shooting).Results. A comprehensive analysis of traffic accident-prone section of federal roads in the Altai Territory allowed to identify a number of typical conditions that contribute to the formation of increased accident risk. Among them: a significant change in the speed limit, proximity to the city, the presence of a large number of conflict points, road works.The scope of the study / the possibility of subsequent use of the results of scientific work. The results of the work can be used in the work on the comprehensive study of the factors of occurrence of traffic accident-prone section on federal motorways, modelling various road conditions and environmental conditions on the degree of accident of a road section.Practical importance. Knowledge about the main factors and conditions of the formation of traffic accidentprone section will allow responsible services to reduce the degree of danger of similar sections by preventing the simultaneous action of all selected conditions.Originality. For the first time, the study identifies and substantiates specific conditions that collectively contribute to the formation of traffic accident-prone section on federal roads.

Traffic congestion is a pervasive issue in urban areas, leading to increased commute times, environmental pollution, and reduced overall quality of life. To address this challenge, this paper introduces a dynamic traffic control system that leverages the HERE API for real-time traffic data. The system provides a web- based interface with user authentication and allows users to input the address of a signal they wish to control. Utilizing the HERE API, it fetches live traffic information, including jam factor and free flow speed, for all four roads at the specified signal. This data serves as the foundation for an intelligent traffic management system that dynamically allocates green signal times based on the intensity of traffic, with roads experiencing higher congestion receiving longer green time. The system's backend is built using Python and the Flask framework, while the frontend features HTML and CSS for a user-friendly interface. Authentication ensures that only authorized users can access and utilize the system. Geocoding is employed to convert user-provided addresses into geographic coordinates, enabling precise data retrieval from the HERE API. Once the traffic data is collected, an analysis is performed to identify the road with the highest traffic intensity. The dynamic allocation of green signal times is a fundamental feature, allowing for real-time traffic optimization and a reduction in congestion. The paper explores the development, implementation, and testing of this dynamic traffic control system, emphasizing its potential to significantly improve urban mobility. Furthermore, considerations for scalability, security, and maintenance are addressed to ensure the system's practicality in real-world scenarios. This project contributes to the growing field of intelligent transportation systems by showcasing the benefits of data-driven decision-making in traffic signal control. By utilizing the HERE API, this system not only provides a solution to mitigate traffic congestion but also represents a step towards more sustainable and efficient urban transportation systems. Vehicular networks are the major ingredients of the envisioned Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) concept. An important component of ITS which is currently attracting wider research focus is road traffic monitoring. The actual approaches for traffic road monitoring are characterized by longer response times and are also subject to higher processing requirements and possess high deployment costs. In this paper, we propose a completely distributed and scalable mechanism for wireless sensor network-based road traffic monitoring. The approach relies on the distributed and bidirectional exchange of traffic information between the vehicles traversing the routes and a miniature cluster head and takes into consideration both the security and reliability of data communication. In addition, the communication between nodes is collision-free since the underlined data link layer protocol relies on a heuristic time multiplexed-based protocol. The performance analysis shows that the proposed mechanism usually outperforms other algorithms for different traffic densities.

To promote the road transportation security, it’s necessary to study the modeling method of driving behavior characteristics. The traffic flow model realized by current modeling methods of driving behavior characteristics has a low accuracy in warning results. Therefore, based on satellite positioning data, a modeling method of driving behavior characteristics is proposed in this paper. Firstly, the dynamic model and kinetic model of traffic flow are built through the flow, speed and density parameters; then the response time, minimum safe distance and stability parameters of driving behavior are taken as the identification index of driving behavior to identify the driving behavior of drivers; according to the identification results, the psychological field theory and satellite positioning data are combined to build the model of driving behavior characteristics, and finally, warning the drivers according to their psychology and the actual situation of road. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method can accurately measure the traffic flow and speed, and the score of drivers’ behavior obtained has high accuracy, which verified again the high accuracy of traffic flow model and warning results of the proposed method.

Currently, the urban road traffic congestion is serious and the traffic accident is happening at a high frequency; thus it has not satisfied the travel needs of security and affects the quality of urban trips. In order to effectively relieve the confliction of people and motor vehicle, to make sure of the safety of pedestrians crossing the road, and to improve the capacity of urban roads, this passage focuses on studying the influence of pedestrians crossing the roads on the capacity of urban roads in three pedestrian crossing approaches including freely crossing the street, uncontrolled crossing of the pedestrian crosswalk, and controlled crossing of the pedestrian crosswalk. Firstly, it confirms the general formula of the road capacity when pedestrians are crossing the road based on three preassumptions, combined with the survey data, and then constructs the empirical mathematical model of pedestrian crossing on the capacity impact. Lastly, it takes the step of case calculation and simulation evaluation and calculates errors between them, finding that the error between the model calculation and software simulation is small. The efficiency of the model is validated and improved.

The importance of monitoring their dissemination in the environment is demonstrated by the investigation of a retention pond used for the road water treatment. Sodium and chloride concentrations were monitored during the winter 2012/2013 in the inlet and outlet waters of a retention pond. The impact of meteorological data and salting operations on the concentrations measured are investigated and the implications of encountered concentrations discussed.

The background of the policy on the formulation of criminal law Article 107 Paragraph (2) of Law Number 22 Year 2009 concerning Road Traffic and Transportation is that Law Number 14 of 1992 concerning Road Traffic and Transportation is no longer compatible with conditions, strategic environmental changes and the need to carry out Road Traffic and Transportation at this time and to realize security and reduce the number of accidents that always increase every year. However, the implication of Article 107 Paragraph (2) of Law Number 22 Year 2009 concerning Road Traffic and Transportation is the greater loss obtained than the benefits generated. Three of the most important objectives of the Federal Road Police (Patrol) when managing the traffic on federal roads in Brazil are to ensure that there is an efficient movement of traffic under stable conditions and minimal traffic congestion problems that the federal highways are safe and that accidents do not occur. Therefore, multiple matters are relevant for road safety and user security, such as prompt maintenance of these highways, regular monitoring of their state of conservation and their characteristics; controlling the traffic; and preventing and combatting criminal activities on the highways. However, considering the vast network and different conditions of roads, the different types of traffic accidents and their consequences, and different levels of violence on federal roads, it is essential that these roads undergo regular maintenance and regular inspections, are constantly patrolled, and are subject to continuous improvements. Therefore, defining the prioritization and criticality of roads takes on the characteristics of a multicriteria decision, given the multidimensional aspects of the risks inherent in them. Thus, this paper presents a multicriteria decision model for prioritizing road sections, based on their criticality and the risks that users face. The model was applied using the FITradeoff method, due to its flexibility and due to it requiring less cognitive effort from the decision-maker with regard to providing information regarding his/her preferences. A case study was undertaken on a set of the federal roads of the state of Pernambuco (Brazil), covering 22 different sections with different characteristics. As a result, it was possible to rank and identify the most critical sections of a highway. The use of FITradeoff gave support to decision-making on ordering the sections and also let a general analysis of the data be undertaken.

Among the various factors affecting long distance driving are the risks imposed by a driver’s health, which could result in road accidents. Internet of Things (IoT) and mobile health (mHealth) technologies are increasingly being recognized for their role in monitoring various health parameters of such drivers. IoT devices such as wearable devices could be used efficiently in vehicles by professional long-distance drivers. However, the adoption of such technologies is limited by security and privacy issues. This paper proposes a novel vehicular alarm notification system by integrating mHealth data of the driver with vehicular data for improving vehicle safety. The purpose of the system is to minimize road accidents by integrating the emerging mHealth technologies with the vehicular information system (VIS) using wireless body area network sensors and devices in a secure and lightweight framework. An integrated secure system could facilitate adoptability to provide timely notifications of emergencies to drivers in order to avoid road accidents and take appropriate follow-up actions. Furthermore, the information gathered by the integrated system could assist health service providers to address the driver’s root cause of potential health risks. The lightweight security framework adopted in this study is based on an efficient trust model that can improve the adoption of an mHealth integrated vehicular alarm notification system. Our contribution is to provide a real-time alarm notification service to avoid potential traffic accidents by monitoring the health status of long-distance drivers, achieved through incorporating an affordable and lightweight security system to secure health data transfer.

Purpose: The aim of the article was to analyze motorcycle accidents in Poland on the basis of statistical data from the Polish Police Headquarters from 2019. The author presents the collected data in the form of charts, broken down by causes, the number of events in individual months, and the age of the perpetrators, injured and victims. The work also deals with the issue of dealing with victims of motorcycle accidents as part of first aid and rescue. Introduction: Every year, the number of casualties on Polish roads is increasing. Accidents affect all forms of transport and communication. Modern technologies used in the production of motor vehicles, a number of forms of improving their skills available to drivers offered by training entities and the improving infrastructure of roads in the country predispose to increased traffic on Polish roads. Drivers often lose control of their vehicles, forgetting about the potential dangers of recklessness and irresponsibility. Various types of traffic incidents involving these vehicles then take place. The chances of motorcyclists during traffic accidents, despite the security measures used in helmets and protective clothing, are small. Methodology: The main research tool used during the work on the article was the analysis of data contained in the documentation. The data presented in this study constitute the material entitled Road accidents in Poland in 2019 provided by the General Police Headquarters (KGP) Road Traffic Office. The author has made a statistical analysis of the above-mentioned data to visualize road accidents involving motorcyclists and their consequences. The events in which a motorcyclist was injured and the most common causes of accidents caused by motorcyclists, the age of the perpetrators of accidents – motorcyclists, as well as fatalities and injuries in these road accidents are presented. Conclusions: In 2019, motorcyclists made up a large group of people who died or were seriously injured in road accidents. The number of traffic accidents and the number of killed motorcyclists is greater than 2018. Data analysis allowed to define the most common causes of accidents involving motorcyclists caused by drivers of other vehicles. These include: failure to give right-of-way and incorrect behavior on the road while driving, such as turning, changing lanes or overtaking. On the other hand, the most common causes of accidents caused by motorcyclists are: excessive speed, incorrect overtaking, no safe distance from other vehicles, failure to give right-of-way. This study seeks to determine the policy regarding using Electronic Traffic Law Enforcement (ETLE) to maintain and enhance traffic orders. ETLE is based on Law (UU) Number 22 of 2009 concerning Road Traffic and Transportation and Government Regulation (PP) Number 80 of 2012 concerning Procedures for Inspecting Motorized Vehicles on the Road and Enforcement of Traffic and Road Transportation Violations. From October 2022 to February 2023, this research was conducted at the state police of the Republic of Indonesia in Central Java Resor Sukoharjo. To observe and comprehend the subjects and objects of study, the researcher employs a qualitative descriptive method based on observations made in the field. During and after data collection, data collection techniques, such as observation, interviews, and documentation, are combined with data analysis, which includes data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion or verification drawing. As evidenced by the recapitulation of 16,538 violation cases in Sukoharjo, the results demonstrated the public's need for more understanding regarding electronic fines and discipline in maintaining driving order must be improved. Additional socialization efforts are required to maintain traffic order and reduce instances of these violations. Replacing conventional ticketing with electronic ticketing, or ETLE, will result in more equitable, transparent, and efficient public services. To support security, order, safety, and order in traffic, the benefits can be felt by all levels of society simultaneously.

The utilization of conclusions from the data analysis of road traffic accidents is of high importance for the development of targeted traffic safety measures, which will effectively reduce the rate of road traffic accidents, thus promoting road safety. Considering the problems of time and money, it is not practical to improve road safety in all the places where road traffic accidents occur. Therefore, the process of identifying accident-prone locations, known as black spots, is a cost-effective and efficient way to analyze the causes of road accidents and reduce them. Identifying black spots is an effective strategy to reduce accidents. The core methods that may be used in the process of identifying the black spots of a road network are the sorting, grouping, and accident prediction methods. However, in practice, it is easy to overlook certain factors that significantly contribute to defining and characterizing a spot on the road network as black. Therefore, suggestions to carry out projects required to reduce security risks shall not be based on the above methods. Machine learning algorithms that in recent years have been widely used in the field of predicting a road traffic accident cover these weaknesses. They can effectively classify data sets and make a connection between factors and the severity of events. Machine learning algorithms include classification, regression, clustering, and dimensionality reduction. In this work, a study was conducted on road traffic accidents that took place on the national and provincial network of Northern Greece from 2014 to 2018, with the aim of determining the black spots. The study provided the general public access to a database of black spots on the road network of Northern Greece. At the same time, it created a point of reference for the recognition of the points in question located on the entire road network, and selected a black spot determination model, after having compared specific measures to determine the quality of a model, which resulted from the application of a logistic regression and machine learning algorithms.

While it is likely to be many years before self-driving cars are commercially viable and used in a wide range of conditions by the general public, technological advances are speeding along the automated technology continuum towards this destination. Automated vehicle technologies troth with significant social benefits such as reduced injuries and deaths, increased road efficiency, mobility. Automated vehicles can improve traffic safety, balance traffic flows, maximize road usage by offering driver warnings and/or assuming vehicle control in dangerous situations, as well as provide motorists with the best end-to-end transportation experience and reduce emissions, which are the most important goals of modern smart traffic control infrastructures. Exchanging data and integration of such systems with Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) may be a keystone to successful readying of vehicular ad-hoc networks (VANETs) and will simply be the following step of this evolution, with dynamic period of time data exchange between all the players of the traffic dominant system and fostering cooperative urban quality. One of the applications of this concept is to provide vehicles and roads with the ability to make road time more enjoyable and also to make roads safer. These applications are typical examples of what an Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) is called, whose objective is to improve security by using new information and communication technologies (NTIC). Some municipalities switch off street lights for several hours at night to save energy and reduce operating costs as a consequence of soaring electricity prices in Europe. Complete darkness in the streets raises public concern about safety and security. The current street lighting standard EN 13201 enables the road luminance to be reduced in parallel with diminishing traffic volume offering a viable tradeoff between energy saving and road safety. This paper presents a methodology to estimate the energy-saving potential of traffic-regulated street lighting based on traffic counting data. By analyzing traffic volume and composition collected from an urban street over the one-year period, we found that traffic sensor-regulated street lighting can deliver up to 55% reduction in electricity costs while maintaining road luminance in line with the recommendations of EN 13201-2. In the presented case, the daily traffic volume profiles were remarkably stable following either a workday or a holiday pattern. Statistical analysis showed that 45% energy saving could be achieved by the pre-programmed dimming schedule of the luminaires while remaining compliant with the standard. The effect of daylight-saving time on the energy consumption of adaptive street lighting was also analyzed.

‘Fatigue-related traffic accidents’ refers to a crash caused by drivers’ falling asleep during driving. Unlike drunk driving or overspeed, driver fatigue is affected by many factors. To identify the contributory factors affecting the occurrence of fatigue-related accidents, a case-control study was conducted. The traffic data used in the study was obtained from Heilongjiang Provincial Department of Public Security Traffic Administrative Bureau Data System. Accidents (N=58131) occurring during the 3-year period 2006/2008 were researched, and the data of fatigue-related accidents was extracted. Potential risk factors such as human, environment and road were examined using stepwise logistic regression method. Drivers’ age and gender, driving year, road pavement type and alignment, terrain, time of the accident and streetlight condition are significant factors impacting the occurrence of fatigue-related accidents. Besides, frontal impact, rear-end collision and bump fixation matter are the most common accident types in all of fatigue-related accidents. Identifying the high risk factors of fatigue-related accidents helps reduce driver fatigue and make available control measures.

However, it is equally important to examine and analyze security in depth when it concerns connected vehicles. In this paper, we propose a qualitative risk analysis of ITSs based on Threat, Risk, Vulnerability Analysis (TVRA) methodology, and we focus on ETSI ITS communication architecture. Background: Road traffic injuries are considered as main public health problem; strenuous efforts are required for its prevention. Facility based emergency care for road traffic injuries is considered as an important but challenging component of post-crash care response. It demands healthcare providers to make quick life-and-death decisions based on minimal information. The objective of our study was to explore the challenges for emergency services for road traffic injuries within Tertiary care hospital.
Methodology: Qualitative methods were used including 15 interviews and 02 focus group discussions. Topic guide was developed for all the participant’s interviews, in order to explore the challenges for effective emergency care services at tertiary care level in Larkana city, Sindh. Topic guide was developed for all the participant’s interviews.
Results: After making the transcripts of qualitative data, thematic analysis framework was used to analyze the transcripts, by which two main themes; recognition of causes and adverse consequences of road traffic accidents and health system challenges for delivering emergency care were extracted. Results suggest that improvement in documentation and record keeping system, security for health care providers, provision of timely interventions and proper training for health professionals at hospital level can be helpful for the provision of effective emergency care services.
Conclusion: An integrated trauma care system along with the improvement in documentation, efficient record keeping system, security for health care providers, provision of timely interventions and training for health professionals is needed for effective post-crash care management at the hospital level.

Many car manufacturers have recently proposed to release autonomous self-driving cars within the next few years. Information gathered by sensors (e.g., cameras, GPS, lidar, radar, ultrasonic) enable cars to drive autonomously on roads. However, in urban or high-speed traffic scenarios the information gathered by mounted sensors may not be sufficient to guarantee a smooth and safe traffic flow. Thus, information received from infrastructure and other cars or vehicles on the road is vital. Key aspects in Vehicle-To-Everything (V2X) communication are security, authenticity, and integrity which are inherently provided by Information Centric Networking (ICN). In this paper, we identify advantages and drawbacks of ICN for V2X communication. We specifically review forwarding, caching, as well as simulation aspects for V2X communication with a focus on ICN. Furthermore, we investigate existing solutions for V2X and discuss their applicability. Based on these investigations, we suggest directions for further work in context of ICN (in particular Named Data Networking) to enable V2X communication providing a secure and efficient transport platform.

The results can conclude the potential security risks information, such as, the maximum early peak average daily transfer of Xizhimen station, the maximum passenger traffic of Line1 ,the maximum passenger traffic of the road network up to July and August, and the largest proportion of signal failure. Finally, the laws can be find out, and the specific prevention measures can be put forward for the management, which has a certain significance for the reduction of accidents, and can give some theoretical guidance to urban rail transit operations managers.

Driving behavior is considered the most central factor leading to traffic accidents. Therefore, a scientific and effective method for evaluating the safety of commercial vehicle driving behavior is urgently needed. In this study, a comprehensive evaluation model of driving behavior security based on multimembership function is proposed, and entropy weight method (EWM), analytic hierarchy process (AHP), and fuzzy comprehensive evaluation algorithm are integrated. Firstly, the evaluation system of commercial vehicle safety of driving behavior is established. Secondly, the weight vector of each evaluation index is determined by combining EW-AHP to eliminate the subjectivity of the traditional AHP algorithm. Then, the fuzzy comprehensive evaluation matrix is calculated based on the multimembership function and fuzzy mathematics theory, and the quantitative evaluation of driving behavior safety is realized based on the matrix. Finally, the real road vehicle driving data and driving behavior data are verified by experiments. The experimental results show that the model can accurately and reasonably evaluate the safety of driving behavior, which is of great significance to improve road traffic safety.

The rapid urbanization and increasing vehicle traffic in metropolitan areas have given rise to a significant challenges in traffic management. Traditional methods of a traffic monitoring and control often struggle to cope with the dynamic and complex nature of urban traffic patterns. In this context, we propose an innovative Drone Surveillance System for Traffic Management to revolutionize the way traffic is monitored, analyzed, and optimized in urban environments. Our system leverages state-of-the-art drone technology equipped with advanced sensors, high-resolution cameras, and intelligent algorithms to provide real-time traffic insights. Drones are deployed strategically across key traffic arteries, allowing for comprehensive aerial coverage and data collection. The system focuses on several key objectives: real-time traffic monitoring, incident detection, traffic flow analysis, optimized traffic signal control, emergency response support, data-driven decision making, and ensuring privacy and security compliance. By the employing cutting-edge computer vision algorithms, machine learning techniques, and data analytics, the Drone Surveillance System processes vast amounts of traffic data with speed and precision. The system detects the traffic incidents and the such as accidents and road hazards promptly, enabling swift a responses from emergency services. It analyzes traffic patterns and predicts congestion, allowing for adaptive traffic signal control and dynamic route optimization, thereby minimizing congestion and reducing travel time for a commuters. Fatigue-related traffic crashes refers to a crash caused by drivers falling asleep during driving. Unlike drunk driving or overspeed, driver fatigue is affected by many factors. To identify the contributory factors affecting the occurrence of fatigue-related crashes among professional drivers, a case-control study was conducted. The traffic data used in the study was obtained from Department of Public Security Traffic Administrative Bureau Data System in Jiangxi. Crashes (N=58131) occurring during 2006-2011 were researched, and the data of fatigue-related crashes among professional drivers was extracted. Potential risk factors such as human, environment and road were examined. Professional drivers age and gender, driving year, road pavement type and alignment, terrain, time of the accident and streetlight condition are significant factors impacting the occurrence of fatigue-related crashes. Besides, frontal impact, rear-end collision and bump fixation matter are identified as the most common accident types in all of fatigue-related crashes.

AbstractModern societies are built on good road infra-structure and efficient transport system. Safety is a high-priority consideration in development of road traffic systems. In recent years the weather information has become becomes very vital for road traffic safety because slippery roads are the key source of road accidents in northern regions of Europe, America and Canada as well. In this article we are presenting the test experiences and pilot road weather related services by executing a set of Vehicle to Infrastructure (V2I) communication scenarios by using IEEE 802.11p and 5G test networks. We have made an effort to evaluate the performance of IEEE 802.11p and 3GPP (3rd Generation Partnership Project) 5G test network. We also analyzed the performance of IEEE 802.11p with and without safety feature for secure and reliable vehicular communication. The combination of IEEE 802.11p with 5G test network cellular network makes the traffic system heterogeneous for traffic safety. This heterogeneous system provides the opportunity to exploit the vehicle-based actuators, sensor, and observation data in order to produce the intelligent service platform and up-to-date real time services for vehicles.In this article we have also made a comparison by using an IEEE 802.11p system having safety feature of SafeCOP (Safe Co-operating Cyber-Physical Systems using Wireless Communication) project. SafeCOP is a European project that aims cyber-physical systems-of-systems relying on wireless communication for safe and secure cooperation. This safety feature will help to decrease the amount of road accidents (Car crashes, injuries and fatalities) by offering safe and secure V2V and V2I co-operation. The fundamental advantage of this kind of performance analysis is that the communication between Vehicle-to-Road Weather station (V2RWS) can be exchanged safely and reliably, at the cost of network resources consumed by a safety feature in IEEE 802.11p. It’s clearly presented in this paper, that the use of heterogeneous network and SafeCOP feature for vehicular networking has a clear potential in near future for vehicle’s safety and security of vehicular network.

The aim of STS is to accomplish more efficiency of traffic by decreasing traffic issues. It also provides the information about route traffic toward destination, local expediency, passing, vehicle dynamic or requested information, availability of seats to users, which decreases journey time of commuters and improves their security and ease. This paper discusses STS, its application and working mechanism, and the main parameters of the proposed framework of STS of Pakistan such as road condition monitoring, traffic management, municipal involvement, link data for society, accidental measures, and security, which are necessary while designing or implementing such systems.

Road transport plays an important role in India’s economy. It enables the country’s transportation sector to contribute 6.1% towards India’s GDP. The road network in our country is considered as a critical factor to the country’s development, social integration and security needs of the country. The Government of India has promoted foreign investments in highway projects to bring out high standards and quality. India’s road network carries over 65% of freight and 85% passenger traffic. The traffic volume carried by the national highways almost exceeds the designed traffic volume, and hence the desired speed cannot be achieved. Thus, widening of highways becomes necessary. The population growth is also to be considered and hence provision for future widening is to be provided. Our paper deal with the geometric design for widening of NH-9 is carried out using MX-Bentley software as per IRC specifications. This design includes horizontal and vertical profiling throughout the stretch of the road, according to the existing topographic data. The radius of the curve has been increased to make a smooth curve. Also, the vertical profile has been designed based on the allowable gradient and sight distances. From this, accommodation of more traffic volume and increment of design speed seems to be possible.

Vehicular sensor networks (VSNs) have emerged as a paradigm for improving traffic safety in urban cities. However, there are still several issues with VSNs. Vehicles equipped with sensing devices usually upload large amounts of data reports to a remote cloud center for processing and analyzing, causing heavy computation and communication costs. Additionally, to choose an optimal route, it is required for vehicles to query the remote cloud center to obtain road conditions of the potential moving route, leading to an increased communication delay and leakage of location privacy. To solve these problems, this paper proposes an efficient privacy-preserving data sharing (EP 2 DS) scheme for fog-assisted vehicular sensor networks. Specifically, the proposed scheme utilizes fog computing to provide local data sharing with low latency; furthermore, it exploits a super-increasing sequence to format the sensing data of different road segments into one report, thus saving on the resources of communication and computation. In addition, using the modified oblivious transfer technology, the proposed scheme can query the road conditions of the potential moving route without disclosing the query location. Finally, an analysis of security suggests that the proposed scheme can satisfy all the requirements for security and privacy, with the evaluation results indicating that the proposed scheme leads to low costs in computation and communication.

Technological developments also have an impact on the transportation system on the highway. One of them is the various types and types of transportation used by society today. Based on data, every year 1.3 million people die as a result of road traffic accidents and more than 3,000 people die every day due to traffic accidents. One of the cities in Indonesia that is classified as having the highest traffic accident record, namely Batam. The rate of traffic accidents in Batam City has increased every year, where data states that there has been an increase in traffic accidents of 47% for the 2019-2020 period. The high traffic accidents in Batam generally occur due to a lack of public knowledge and awareness in driving and traffic, especially among school children and adolescent drivers. As happened at SMK Widya Batam, where almost 80% of the students use motorbikes for school transportation. Therefore, through fostering the Traffic Safety program socialization in driving ethics for Widya Batam Vocational School students both within the school environment and outside the school environment, it is hoped that it can provide the transfer of information and knowledge about the importance of increasing awareness of driving ethics and concern for traffic safety and also participate participate in maintaining security, order and safety on the road.

The safety of signalized intersections is of great concern. To allow for an effective evaluation measure on the safety level of intersections, traffic conflict analysis methods are commonly used. However, the existing literature has mainly focused on the statistical prediction of conflicts by using surrogate measurements, among which the spatial-temporal characteristics of the potential conflicts have been less addressed. In addition, most of the relevant studies rely on precise trajectory data, and the results could be limited to engineering applications when real-time/comprehensive trajectory data are not available. To address these issues, this study proposes a SICP (signalized intersection conflict probability) model to predict a straight-left traffic flow conflict with a spatial-temporal distribution in the heat map, which could effectively evaluate the traffic safety of the existing or prebuilt signalized intersections on urban roads. Firstly, the impact of vehicle movement characteristics on traffic conflict at signalized intersections was considered by incorporating the vehicle movement trajectory. Secondly, the signal phase was categorized in several stages (each phase contains switching and nonswitching stages); then, a vehicle-vehicle conflicts probability prediction model was established by integrating both horizontal and vertical arrival probability. Finally, to validate the performance of the proposed model, the measured data were collected from the intersection of Wushan road and Yuehan road in Tianhe District, Guangzhou, China. SSAM（Surrogate Safety Assessment Model）traffic conflict simulation was used to analyze the traffic conflict in the actual data and compared to the SICP model. A case study was conducted to reveal the evolution mechanism of the conflict risk coefficient at the signalized intersection and to estimate the safety status under the various security optimization strategies. The experimental results verified the effectiveness of the SICP model, indicating that the proposed model is effective in evaluating the safety level of existing or prebuilt signalized intersections.

Crossroads are the main traffic jam generators in densely populated cities. Unmanned vehicles and intelligent transportation systems can significantly reduce congestion and improve road safety by eliminating the main cause of traffic accidents—the human factor. However, full confidence in their safety is necessary. This paper addresses the contextual data integrity problem, when an unmanned autonomous vehicle transmits incorrect data due to technical problems, or malicious attacks. We propose an approach based on trust and reputation that allows detecting vehicles transmitting bogus data. To verify the feasibility of the approach on practice, we conducted both software and physical simulations using the model of intersection and unmanned autonomous vehicle models. The simulation results show that the approach applied allows detecting vehicles with bogus data and excluding them from the group, thus increasing the safety of the intersection traversal by other vehicles.

Cellular Automata is a discrete model studied in computability theory, mathematics, physics, complexity science, theoretical biology and microstructure modeling. This paper proposes a model to balance the flux and safety, to maximize the flux on each road whilst ensuring work well with safety based on the Cellular Automata. In order to analyze the flow of traffic, the traffic of three-lane freeway and four-lane freeway are simulated based on the cellular automata model with the factors of velocity and density in the first step. For safety, a rear-end collision model and overtaking lateral collision model were employed to analyze the relation among safety. Reaction time and distance are introduced in the model, and different vehicles are considered. Safety-related factors are also chosen based on back propagation neural network. At last, this paper establishes a model to examine the performance of the traffic flow under the multi-lane freeway in light and heavy traffic. It simulates the situation in real life based on actual data. The optimal relation and optimal value has worked out between flux and safety through simulating the situation in real life based on actual data. To achieve a better model, further discussion, is made on how to adapt to different situations with the keep-left, the unrestricted, and the intelligent system controlled. The experimental result shows that the number of lanes is not an influential factor under any circumstances. The maximum speed limit plays a significant role in light traffic while it is of no importance in heavy traffic. However, the minimum speed limit plays a significant role in heavy traffic while it is of no importance in light traffic.

In this paper, we present a traffic cyber physical system for urban road traffic signal control, which is referred to as UTSC-CPS. With this proposed system, managers and researchers can realize the construction and simulation of various types of traffic scenarios, the rapid development, and optimization of new control strategies and can apply effective control strategies to actual traffic management. The advantages of this new system include the following. Firstly, the fusion architecture of private cloud computing and edge computing is proposed for the first time, which effectively improves the performance of software and hardware of the urban road traffic signal control system and realizes information security perception and protection in cloud and equipment, respectively, within the fusion framework; secondly, using the concept of parallel system, the depth of real-time traffic control subsystem and real-time simulation subsystem is realized. Thirdly, the idea of virtual scene basic engine and strategy agent engine is put forward in the system design, which separates data from control strategy by designing a general control strategy API and helps researchers focus on control algorithm itself without paying attention to detection data and basic data. Finally, considering China, the system designs a general control strategy API to separate data from control strategy. Most of the popular communication protocols between signal controllers and detectors are private protocols. The standard protocol conversion middleware is skillfully designed, which decouples the field equipment from the system software and achieves the universality and reliability of the control strategy. To further demonstrate the advantages of the new system, we have carried out a one-year practical test in Weifang City, Shandong Province, China. The system has been proved in terms of stability, security, scalability, practicability and rapid practice, and verification of the new control strategy. At the same time, it proves the superiority of the simulation subsystem in the performance and simulation scale by comparing the different-scale road networks of Shunyi District in Beijing and Weifang City in Shandong Province. Further tests were conducted using real intersections, and the results were equally valid.

By using the latest technology called IoT for smart cities, we can book the parking slot of a vehicle from anywhere. We need to take registration details for reserving the parking slot and for security purpose we are generating an OTP. By using the OTP, we can book our slot through an android application.

Many smart city applications work with calculated position and time using the Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) signals for enhanced precision. However, there are many places where the availability of GNSS is limited, e.g., road tunnels, which are an essential part of transport infrastructure. Tunnels also require greater attention and greater importance of approaches to ensure the safety and security aspects of traffic. The safety, distribution of information, awareness, and smooth traffic can also be ensured by V2X applications, but the current position is also needed. An experimental analysis of data connection and communication availability was performed in the Blanka tunnel (Prague) and its surroundings. The main objective of the work was to find and clearly describe the tunnel blind spots, with an emphasis on communication between cars and potentially between cars and infrastructure. This article summarizes the evaluation results of the V2X tunnel experimental test, the outputs from the analysis of these blind spots, and it provides a future perspective and suggestions that make tunnels smart by using advanced positioning approaches.

With the increase in population, there is an increase in the number of car users drastically. Around the world, either millions of people die due to car accidents or they are severely injured by the accident. Most of the accidents occur due to lack of common information the drivers, as the lane change, applying sudden break, traffic congestion, etc, are the causes of accidents. Safety information such as speed limits, road conditions, traffic status, accidents, etc..., are used in some countries, but still more work is to be achieved. Vehicular Ad Hoc Networks (VANET) should be implemented and they should collect and distribute necessary safety information to other vehicles. VANET is a combination of Road Side Units (RSU’s) and On-Board Units (OBU’s). These RSU’s and OBU’s consist of various sensors, which are used to collect various data. The data collected by the sensors on the OBU’s on the vehicles can either be sent to another vehicle or can be displayed to the driver. Similarly, the sensor collects data at the RSU and sends the data to other RSU or depending on its nature and importance, the RSU may even be broadcasted to other vehicles. The main objective is to provide safety to the drivers, the passengers and to the information that is being transmitted between the nodes. However, in some scenarios, VANET’s may not guarantee timely detection of issues or any type of dangerous. We propose a solution by the integration of VANET and WSN to create a hybrid infrastructure with the in inexpensive wireless sensor nodes integrated on RSU’s along the roadside and on the OBU’s in the vehicle. As the new hybrid structure is proposed, there may be challenges that may occur. This article discussed these challenges and solutions to create an efficient and well-organized VANET-WSN Hybrid network.

VCC (Vehicular Cloud Computing) is an emerging and promising paradigm, due to its significance in traffic management and road safety. However, it is difficult to maintain both data security and system efficiency in Vehicular Cloud, because the traffic and vehicular related data is large and complicated. In this paper, we propose a conditional ciphertext-policy attribute-based encryption (C-CP-ABE) scheme to solve this problem. Comparing with CP-ABE, this scheme enables data owner to add extra access trees and the corresponding conditions. Experimental analysis shows that our system brings a trivial amount of storage overhead and a lower amount of computation compared with CP-ABE.
