Resumen

I detta examensarbete studeras programvarorna Tekla Structures och Revit Structures djupgående under projekteringsfasen. En fallstudie ligger till grund för att jämföra programvarorna, med syfte att hjälpa byggkonstruktörer i valet mellan respektive programvara. Examensarbetet är utfört i samarbete med Kåver & Mellin Uppsala och jämförelsen ska hjälpa företaget att besluta om det finns skäl att utbilda sina medarbetare inom Tekla. Fallstudien har byggt på ett referensprojekt som utfördes i respektive programvara. Referensprojektet bestod av vanligt förekommande konstruktionselement och utförandet delades upp i två huvudområden, modellering och ritningsframställning. Modelleringen avser de moment som krävs för att skapa en 3D-modell över byggnaden medan ritningsframställning avser de moment som krävs för att framställa kompletta ritningar över byggnaden. Under utförandet upprättades fyra ritningar i respektive programvara, ritningarna utformades efter standarden Bygghandlingar 90. En viktig faktor för utförandet av fallstudien visade sig vara den rådande kunskapsnivån hos användaren i respektive programvara. Detta speglades i resultatet för tidsåtgången. Eftersom författarna hade större förkunskaper i Revit kunde många av momenten utföras snabbare än för Tekla. Att åstadkomma en rättvis jämförelse mellan programvarorna i tidsåtgång blev följaktligen svår men fallstudien hjälpte författarna att kunna dra slutsatser kopplade till programvarornas styrkor och svagheter samt användarvänlighet. Tekla hade stora styrkor inom stålprojektering och programvarans förmåga att upprätta tillverkningsritningar på ett effektivt var av stor betydelse. Men programmet visade svagheter i ritningsframställningen där verktygen var otillräckliga för att kunna färdigställa referensprojektets detaljritning med korrekt skraffering. För Revit var det just programvarans detaljeringsverktyg i ritningsframställningen som var den stora styrkan. Programvaran hade verktyg för att rita ut alla ingående delar som skulle ingå på detaljritningen. För stålprojektering saknade programvaran verktyg för att effektivt kunna modellera upp alla ingående delar av en stålpelare, och stora delar av projektering för stål fick utföras under ritningsframställningen med hjälp av 2D-grafik. För företaget Kåver & Mellin Uppsala rekommenderas det att utbilda sina medarbetare i Tekla om de avser att ta sig an projekt med omfattande stålprojektering.

Resumen

The present thesis is an exploration of normalization processes and the problem of appropriation in labor conflict. More specifically, it analyses the way contemporary labor conflicts in nursing relate to, and thereby help to illuminate, changes in modes of gender normalization under neoliberalism, and how nurse labor conflict thereby sheds light on wider patterns of labor strife. Analysis shows how a “virtue script” bound up with long-lasting patterns of gender normalization in nursing becomes tangled with forms of abstract labor related to “new public management” reform. Although the restructuring of work threatens public professionals’ autonomy, at the same time, it provides opportunities for resistance through collective action. What is more, this restructuring process facilitates the appropriation by nurses and, by implication, other public workers, of the discourses and ideals that belonged to the ethos of the Keynesian welfare state. However, this is a contradictory process, since the discourses and ideals thus appropriated inhere in modes of labor exploitation and normalization. Analysis indicates that although appropriation risks to reinforce gendered and exploitative ideas about work, the strategy can be a lever of collective mobilization, and one of its possible outcomes is the radical transformation of the entities it takes possession of. This interview study is mainly based on four journal articles, attending to different aspects of an act of collective resignation taken by registered nurses at a Swedish hospital ward. This is an emerging form of collective action and the thesis provides one of the first analyses of this new grassroots and workplace-based phenomenon, which may be considered its particular empirical contribution. On the other hand, the chapters of the cover essay unfold a sustained argument on normalization and appropriation, thereby elaborating theoretical themes broached in the articles. The focal point of this discussion is a certain concept of form, deployed in Marxist and feminist theory, a concept pointing to the identity of thought-forms and practically enacted forms. Further, these forms migrate: they are evoked in practices wherein “the mind is not active as sentient” (Hegel), later to be projected by the mind onto different entities. The results of the discussion thus question common approaches to normalization. In particular, it is untenable to oppose a tacit and internal mode of control where individuals are induced to comply by attaching to identifications (by becoming/being made into subjects) to an overt and external mode reliant on sheer coercion. This matter–form dichotomy should be dissolved, and modes of coercion should be understood to leave subjective imprints—not at the level of identity but at the level of thought’s infrastructure, that is, form.
Föreliggande avhandling utforskar normaliseringsprocesser och problem rörande appropriering i samband med arbetskonflikter. Avhandlingen analyserar hur sam-tida arbetskonflikter i sjuksköterskeprofessionen relaterar till och sålunda belyser förändrad genusnormalisering i en nyliberal tid, samt hur dessa konflikter belyser övergripande konfliktmönster i arbetslivet. Analysen påvisar hur en ”dygdighets-norm” kopplad till långlivade modaliteter av genusnormalisering sammanvävs med en form av abstrakt arbete relaterad till sentida NPM-reformer. Men medan denna omstruktureringsprocess urholkar den autonomi som professioner i offentlig sektor länge innehaft medför den också möjligheter till kollektiva motståndshandlingar. Vidare möjliggör denna nyliberala omstrukturering sjuksköterskors—liksom andra offentliga professioners—appropriering av diskurser och ideal som var centrala i den tidigare, keynesianska, välfärdsstaten; men detta är en motsägelsefull process då dessa diskurser och ideal är sprungna ur, och präglade av, historier av utsugning och normalisering. Analysen visar att medan appropriering visserligen riskerar att reproducera former av normalisering underlättar denna strategi mobilisering och kan i förlängningen omvandla övertagna diskurser och ideal. Denna intervjustudie är huvudsakligen baserad på fyra artiklar: de analyserar olika aspekter av en kollektiv uppsägningsaktion bland sjuksköterskor vid en sjukhus-avdelning. Detta är en framväxande typ av aktion i Sverige och avhandlingen är en av de första studierna av denna gräsrots- och arbetsplatsbaserade kampform, vilket kan ses som dess empiriska forskningsbidrag. I kappan förs, å andra sidan, en kon-tinuerlig teoretisk diskussion kring normalisering och appropriering som utvecklar teman som lyfts i de enskilda artiklarna. Diskussionen kretsar kring ett visst form-begrepp, som härrör ur marxistisk och feministisk teori och som påvisar en identitet mellan tankeform och praktiskt artikulerad form. Dessa former migrerar; de uttrycks omedvetet i praktiker där individens fokus är annorstädes och projiceras sedan på andra praktiker. I diskussionen ifrågasätts sålunda vedertagna förståelser av norma-lisering: det är teoretiskt ofruktbart att ställa omedvetna, interna, former av kontroll där lydnad eller konformitet uppnås via internaliseringen av påbjudna identiteter mot medvetna, externa, eller tvingande, former av kontroll. En häri latent dikotomi om materia respektive form bör upplösas i syfte att synliggöra hur ett slags kontroll över arbete lämnar subjektiverande avtryck, inte genom att påbjuda identifikationer utan genom att forma vad som kan beskrivas som tänkandets minsta beståndsdelar.

According to SMHI the largest contributing factor to globalwarming is the increased greenhouse gas emissions in theatmosphere. In year 2018 Boverket submitted a proposal for climatedeclaration on new buildings. In the Boverkets climatedeclaration, a building's climate impact is calculated in the formof carbon dioxide equivalents on the material included in thefoundation, building envelope and the non-load-bearing interiorwalls. The unit in the climate declaration is kg Co2e / kg m2where m2 is BTA for the building.The purpose of the theoretical study was to describe what impactthe climate declaration will have in the building industry. Thepurpose of the empirical study was to investigate whether Revit isa good tool for calculating a building climate impact with a focuson greenhouse gas emissions.The result of the theoretical study indicates that the Boverket'sproposal on climate declaration will not lead to changes in theclimate impact of buildings. The study also shows that there willbe changes in the project planning of buildings and increased timespent by participants as the Boverkets estimation of the timerequired for the climate declaration is approximately 180 hours.The result of the empirical study shows that Revit is a good toolfor climate declaration. The study was based on evaluating Revitby the categories easy-to-use, time-consuming and presentationoptions. This resulted in a SWOT analysis showing Revit'scapacity

Rapporten avhandlar visualiseringen i marknadsföringsstadiet av ett byggnadsprojekt med tillämpning på Trivselhus bostäder. För att få en grund till vad som ska ändras gällande företagets nuvarande visualisering har intervjuer genomförts med samtliga berörda parter. Dessa är säljare, kunder och husdesigners. Efter detta har två förslag till förändringar av nuvarande visualiseringar arbetats fram i Revit med intervjuerna som underlag.

This thesis is a study of the Russian religious philosopher Nikolai Berdiaev (1874-1948). The aim of the thesis is to re-examine the alleged gnostic subtext in Berdiaev’s thought by exploring a number of interrelated motifs in his world outlook, teaching on man and theory of knowledge. The method employed is a close reading of Berdiaev's philosophical and autobiographical writings. In order to establish which motifs should be examined, how they are to be understood and the manner in which they are interconnected, a scrutiny is made of Hans Jonas’s phenomenological elucidation of ancient Gnosticism. A synthetic conception labelled Jonasian Gnosticism is proposed as the interpretive framework, in order to provide a unitary and consistent heuristic tool with which to investigate the topic, and to distinguish the specific proposed representation of Gnosticism from other existing ones. A chapter is devoted to an analysis of the concept of gnosis as employed by Berdiaev. Another key notion taken from the Jonasian framework is that of demundanization, which denotes among other things a rejectionary attitude towards the world grounded in a negative experience of evil and suffering. Varieties of dualism as well as Berdiaev’s doctrine of the human spirit’s otherworldly origin and non-belonging in the world, constitute other issues that are examined. In addition, both Berdiaev’s assessment of historical Gnosticism and his view of a gnostic return in modern times are examined. The study demonstrates the complexity of Berdiaev’s attitude towards the classic Gnostics, and his attempt to denounce Gnosticism while at the same time making a case for a Christian gnosis. The results suggest both affinities and divergences in the relationship between Berdiaev’s thought and Jonasian Gnosticism. Even though the doctrinal standpoints diverge on crucial points, it is argued that a suggestive affinity nevertheless exists in the shared existential attitude towards self and world.

Resumen

This thesis is a political history of the emergence and evolution of selected radical, left, student and workers movements in Victoria between 1965 and 1975. It examines the development of radical alliances, demonstrations and public actions using documentary materials and oral accounts provided during interviews. It argues that the radical left movement in Victoria began within the Monash University Labor Club, which subsequently generated radical groups outside the university. During this timeframe, both military conscription for the Vietnam War and the war itself became focal points for oppositional political mobilisation in Victoria. In 1967, the Monash Labor Club’s disruptive campaign against university authority was sufficiently popular for the club to turn its attention to disrupting the war effort. Soon, its locus of operations shifted into the general anti-war movement and the Labor Club established new, non-student, and avowedly communist and revolutionary organisations. Roughly termed the “Maoists,” by 1970 these organisations coalesced into the Worker Student Alliance (WSA), which grew rapidly to become a “left-wing” body that challenged the leadership of the established “left” organisations. The cessation of Australia’s involvement in the Vietnam War removed a major cause for radical action and, despite the generation of some important campaigns to replace it, the WSA dissolved itself in 1974.

Revit Structure är ett nytt 3D-modellerings program i Autodesks serie med ritprogram, speciellt utvecklad för byggnadsinformationsmodellering (BIM). Revit bygger på att användaren själv laddar in och placerar ut standardprofiler som till exempel pelare, balkar och väggar. När standardprofilerna är placerade i 3D-modellen kan de enkelt redigeras och förändras för att uppfylla de specifika kraven för just det byggnadsprojektet.

Den här rapporten är särskilt framtagen för att underlätta en övergång mellan programmen AutoCad och Revit Structure. Med rapporten följer en handbok som ska fungera som en introduktionskurs av programmet för studenter och konstruktörer.

Handboken börjar med att gå igenom programmets upplägg och layout. Där efter följer handboken ett byggnadsprojekt från start till mål. Varefter successivt byggnaden växer fram får användaren kunskaper om de vanliga verktygen då fler element tillförs och sammanfogas. I och med detta låter handbokens övningar användaren träna på de viktigaste verktygen på flera olika sätt och tillsammans med flera olika byggnadselement. Användaren får på det här sättet grundläggande kunskaper om programmet för att enkelt kunna fortsätta med fördjupande kurser eller mer avancerad litteratur.

I och med införandet av BIM-metodiken inom byggbranschen, har flera frågor fötts kring reformationen av arbetsmetodiken inom projekteringsprocessen. En av dessa är frågan om content; grafik - och informationsinnehållet i en BIM-modell. Rapportens syfte har varit att, via analys av befintliga contenthanteringstrategier, frambringa rekommendationer för utformande av konsekventa arbetsmetodiker inom Revit-projekt. Mål- sättningen har varit att rekommendationerna skall bidra till förstärkning och vidareutveckling av ett företags hantering av Revit-content. Arbetet inleddes med en serie intervjuer på arkitektföretaget Tengboms Stockholmskontor. Intervjuerna utfördes med representanter för olika Revit-baserade projekt. Av dessa valdes fyra projekt ut till mer detaljerade fallstudier, där syftet var att kartlägga vilka strategier Tengbom tillämpat i sina Revit-projekt. Parallellt med intervjuerna, utfördes en litteraturstudie där information om befintliga contenthanteringsstrategier inom övriga företag och organisationer, kunde förvärvas och analyseras. Resultatet av fallstudierna på Tengbom jämfördes med de teorier som framkommit via litteraturstudien. För- och nackdelar med olika strategier inom contenthantering analyserades med utgångspunkt i olika aspekter gällande utbildning inom Revit-projektering, samt modellering och hantering av content. Slutsatsen blev att Tengbom haft den i särklass mest hållbara strategin inom den inledande fasen av företagets BIM-implementering. Flera fördelar kunde även identifieras i de övriga contenthanteringsstrategierna som analyserats. Dessa kom att utgöra en gedigen grund för de vidare rekommendationer som arbetet resulterade i.
The introduction of the BIM-methodology in the building industry has awoken several questions regarding the reformation of work methods in the project planning process. One is the question about content; graphics and information inside a Building Information Model. The purpose of this report has been to analyze existing content managing strategies, in order to create recommendations for the forming of consequent work methods in Revit projects. The goal has been to adjust the recommendations for companies willing to further develop internal work methods in the field, particularly concerning the management of Revit content. Several interviews with representatives from different Revit projects at the architectural firm Tengbom in Stockholm were conducted. Four of the Revit projects, were chosen for a more detailed case study, in order to acquire information about the company’s strategies concerning content management. Simultaneously, a literary study was executed, through which information about existing content management strategies in other companies and organizations could be obtained and analyzed. The results of the case studies at Tengbom were compared with theories acquired from the existing strategies in content management. Benefits and disadvantages were analyzed, based on different aspects concerning modeling and management of Revit content and also the education of Revit use. The report concludes that Tengbom has applied the most sustainable strategies in the initial part of the company’s BIM implementation process. Several benefits were also found in the existing strategies, analyzed in the literary study. Together, the conclusions formed a solid base for further recommendations, made as a result of the study in this report.

This diploma thesis focuses on processing and data collecting for the use of creating functional 3D informating model that we call BIM (Building Information Modelling) which is getting more and more attention throughout building industry and it is used by all of the participants in the industry from designers and architects to those who are dealing with building installations. This process is slowly getting into legislations of many countries including Czechia. The thesis is divided into two parts where one of them is describing the Building Information Modeling in general and the other part is describing the work which is behind the colleting good data which is needed when making the 3D documentation in Revit software which is wildly used for designing building constructions. Practical part of the land surveyor´s work is devided here into two parts where one of them is dedicated to collecting data by laser scanning process, GNSS and measuring by total station and levelling machine. Second part focuses on the description of the data processing in order to make 3D model. The example of the output production data is the BIM 3D model of the family house in selected level of detail and besides that we also have the visualization of both interior and exterior and 2D simplified building documentations.

At present, BIM (Building Information Model) is used in a vast majority of large scale building projects. A 3D model is created with a compatible BIM program. By working on a 3D model, the work process simplifies due to the fact that all users can simultaneously work on the same model, thus providing better coordination capabilities and delivering an overview of the final product. As a structural engineer, it is important to have an accurate and reliable basis for working with precision data. Currently, Sweco has no documentation which offers clarification or quality assurance to the content of 3D models. With this in mind, there is a considerable opportunity for improvement by using a checklist to advance the quality assurance of modeling to a new level. The task involved the creation of a checklist that could enhance the working process and improve quality assurance regarding the creation of a 3D model. Through interviews with constructors at Sweco, a checklist was created that will be effective in use by constructors working with Revit, as there are currently no comparable documents available. The conclusion that can be drawn from this work is that the drafted checklist is a positive step towards a better controlled modeling process of 3D models.
I dagsläget används BIM, Building information model, i majoriteten av alla stora byggnadsprojekt. En 3D-modell upprättas med ett kompatibelt BIM-program. Genom att arbeta med en 3D-modell förenklas arbetsprocessen då alla aktörer kan jobba mot samma modell och får därmed bättre samordningsmöjligheter samt en överblick över hur slutprodukten kommer att bli. Som konstruktör är det viktigt att ha ett exakt och tillförlitligt underlag att arbeta utifrån. I dagsläget har Sweco inget dokument för att förtydliga och kvalitetssäkra innehållet i 3D-modeller. Här finns en stor förbättringspotential genom att använda en checklista för att lyfta kvalitetssäkringen av modelleringen till en ny nivå. Arbetet gick ut på att ta fram en checklista som kan underlätta och kvalitetssäkra arbetsprocessen kring upprättandet av 3D-modeller. Genom intervjuer med konstruktörer på Sweco utformades en checklista som visade sig vara användbar för konstruktörerna som arbetar med Revit, då det inte finns något likande dokument i dagsläget. Slutsatsen som kan dras av detta arbete är att den framtagna checklistan är ett bra steg mot en bättre kontrollerad modelleringsprocess av 3D-modeller.

This dissertation investigates Conceptual artists and their practices ranging from John Latham in 1966 to Hans Haacke in the early 1970s, with a particular focus on the link with educational institutions, student protest movements, and a desire for autonomy found in all three. It is through an analysis of the relationship between Conceptual art and the various notions of autonomy that result in a different way of understanding Conceptual art. Instead of perceiving Conceptual art as merely reflecting the social context of an administered society, or conversely of artist-intellectuals critiquing institutions, I highlight that often these two modes existed simultaneously to create a sense of being bound and free at the same time. The neutrality and distance of early Conceptual works from the more politically engaged protest movements is reassessed as a radical disengagement that operated as a model for artist and viewer to self-question their presuppositions of existing norms through a set of relations with the work. In effect, working as a cultural site of radical possibility that offered an alternative to the world in its current form, and simultaneously heightening the awareness of the provisional nature of any given viewpoint. Likewise, I analyze how later Conceptual works that negatively highlighted the extent that social and institutional systems supported the status quo, while important at the time, may have unintentionally set contemporary art on a path towards functionalization that ironically has led to less autonomy rather than more autonomy. The philosophical approach I have taken using Theodor Adorno’s theories has allowed for not only uncovering the desire for autonomy, but how this desire helped explain the very contradictions within artistic practices that were attempting to navigate uncharted waters. The quest for autonomy highlights Conceptual artists re-imagining themselves as intellectually engaged artists through which their do-it-yourself approach to education produced truly new forms of art instead of just recreating past traditions. The contradictions detailed in these practices highlight what was both resisted and subsumed by social and economic circumstances, as well as the potential and pitfalls.

This dissertation studies the impact of a form of literary patronage, domestic writers’ colonies, on U.S. literary production in first half of the twentieth century. I discuss Provincetown, Massachusetts; Taos and Santa Fe, New Mexico; the MacDowell Colony in Peterborough, New Hampshire; and Yaddo in Saratoga Springs, New York. Hundreds of writers, artists, and composers lived and worked in these colonies, but I focus on writers whose relationship with a colony caused a significant shift in their career, including Eugene O’Neill, Willa Cather, Thornton Wilder, Carson McCullers, and Katherine Anne Porter. There have been many studies of literary patronage in this period—from little magazines and expatriate networks, to the Works Progress Administration, to university creative writing programs—but there is no literary-historical account of domestic writers’ colonies as a distinctive set of institutions. “Colony Writing” argues that domestic writers’ colonies made a space for writers who were neither commercial bestsellers nor high modernists, but occupied an uncharted position in the literary field. These colony writers valued participation in creative community over personal profit or aesthetic experimentation. While their work spans many genres and styles, it shares a preoccupation with heterotopias: spaces outside of mainstream culture that have the power to reshape social life. Colonies placed writers on the margins of American society, and writers celebrated that marginality as an imaginative advantage, one that gave them an outsider’s perspective on the culture at large.

The Revolt against Mourning calls into question the widespread critical alignment of literary modernism with Freudian melancholia. Focusing instead on “mourning,” through close readings of Virginia Woolf’s Mrs. Dalloway, James Joyce’s Ulysses, and William Faulkner’s The Sound and the Fury, I demonstrate how their depictions of this notion overturn both its traditional and contemporary understandings. Whereas Freud conceives mourning as a psychic labor that the subject slowly and painfully carries out, Woolf, Joyce, and Faulkner convey it as a destabilizing, subversive, and transformative force to which the subject is radically passive. For Freud, mourning is a matter of severing one’s libidinal bond to the lost other and reinvesting the free libido in a new object. But these modernists show that this bond is not in fact something we have the power to sever. Rather, precisely because we must stay internally bound to the lost other, we are always exposed to being usurped and altered by its alterity. Indeed, what my readings disclose is that these novels end up being (dis)possessed by the spectral force unleashed in them. I argue, however, that each writer can be read as attempting a textual exorcism to free his or her novel from this force by invoking a vital, dynamic movement I call “life.” But although Woolf, Joyce, and Faulkner seek such liberation, their narrative experiments ultimately fail to achieve it. And yet, for that very reason, Mrs. Dalloway, Ulysses, and The Sound and the Fury further illuminate how mourning both precedes and exceeds our desire to master it and binds us to the others we lose, perhaps for the entirety of our lives.

This study examines the various ways in which Julia Kristeva’s novels complement her theoretical writings in reflecting on and responding to the cultural and political crises of European identity and the urgency of assuming responsibility for its heritage. By foregrounding Eastern and Western European aspects of her thought, Kristeva’s novels develop and illustrate the view that the crisis of Europe is not just collective, cultural and political. It also entails the suffering of individuals who are physically and/or psychologically oppressed and repressed, with a particular focus on female foreigners whose capacity to participate in the production of “what” and “who” is counted as European is limited or stifled. Kristeva’s notion of revolt, seen as an important aspect of European tradition, serves as a framework to examine her four novels, and the first chapter presents a critical account of the ethical, therapeutic and political functions of revolt in her novels. The four subsequent chapters provide a detailed analysis of the novels, each examining one particular aspect of revolt. In analysing The Samurai, the notion of writing as thought serves to examine the impact of the French Revolution and May 1968 on women and foreigners. The Old Man and the Wolves illustrates individual resistance against a totalitarian regime through action as thought. In Possessions, a focus on imaginary decapitations in relation to matricide reveals the emergence of specular thought as a form of revolt. Murder in Byzantium provides an account of thought as freedom, in a Europe (past and present) where the society of the spectacle (from religion to consumerism) leaves little room for individual creative or critical expression. This research shows how Kristeva situates feminine sensibility and creativity as alternative spaces that can generate new ways for rethinking the cultural and political memory of Europe, in such a way as to assume responsibility for its heritage as well as for its future.

In recent cinematic history, films have often expressed through the experiences of characters an 'existential moment' in which fundamental assumptions about life are questioned and potentially rendered meaningless. The purpose of this project is to follow two accounts of this expressed moment in the 1999 films American Beauty and Fight Club, understanding them as such through particular readings of the philosophical articulations of Albert Camus. I analyze the social climates of liberalism and consumerism that might account for these expressions of discontent and anxiety at the same time I evaluate the validity of existential thought in the contemporary social world. Ultimately, I question what kinds of political qualms absurdity might render, using film experience as a venue to understand and evaluate these questions.

This thesis investigates the concepts of revolt and de-reification and how these can be perceived and implemented within the context of performance. The argument focuses on the ability of revolt to question and unsettle processes of reification which in turn manifest a strategy of de-reification. I investigate the potential in contemporary performance practice to challenge prevailing modes of perception and restore the production of desire to the spectator through strategies of de-reification. This research is approached through a qualitative process which entails a reading and application of critical texts to the analysis. This reading/application is engaged in a dialogue with the interpretative and experiential aspects of the two works selected for analysis. Chapter One functions as an introduction to the concept of reification and the necessity of a process geared towards de-reification through revolt. I argue that revolt is already embedded in avant-garde artistic practices through an experimental and questioning approach to artistic practice and the production of meaning. Chapter Two is an analysis of Vera Mantero’s solo work, one mysterious Thing said e.e cummings* (1996). This is structured around two identifiable elements, one being the resistance to signification (designification), which is argued as a strategy of revolt within the piece. The second is the notion of abjection, which works doubly to aid the resistance to signification as well as working as a strategy of revolt by its implication in the work. Chapter Three analyses Jaco Bouwer’s Untitled (2008), specifically dealing with the notion of absence as a strategy of revolt and de-reification. The discussion is focused on the potential complication of desire through absence as enacting a larger project of revolt. As in Chapter Two, this is similarly related to the fragmentation of signs through designification which emphasises the strategy of absence. This thesis concludes with the idea that meaning-making in performance can be considered a process. Instead, the lack or failure of meaning within these selected performance practices enables a return to the individual (performer and spectator) as the agent of desire.

Utvecklingen och etablerandet av BIM vid projektering av ventilationssystem har förenklat arbetsprocessen för branschens projektörer. BIM har med 3D-objekt förändrat projekteringen i byggbranschen och har successivt etablerat sig och används av projektörer runt om i hela världen. 3D-modeller ger möjlighet att tidigt utföra beräkningar på blivande system och se om kraven som ställs blir uppfyllda. Det vanligaste använda BIM-verktyget för projektering av VVS-system är MagiCAD, som är en tilläggsapplikation för både Revit och AutoCAD. MagiCAD i Revit-miljö är relativt nytt i byggbranschen som börjar etablera sig och används idag av VVS-projektörer i över 75 länder runt om i världen. Rapporten avser att testa tillförlitligheten för beräkningar i luftbehandlingssystem utförda i Revit MagiCAD. Resultat från traditionella tillvägagångssätt vid liknande beräkningar jämförs mot de resultat som genereras i Revit MagiCAD. Tillförlitligheten ansågs vara hög då resultat från både handberäkningsmetoder och MagiCAD var likvärdiga. Revit MagiCAD kan därför anses vara ett tillförlitligt beräkningsverktyg för distributionssystem i VVS-installationer.
The progress and establishment of BIM for designing ventilation systems have simplified the work process for the industry's projectors. With 3D objects, BIM has revolutionized the design in the construction industry and has gradually established itself and is used by HVAC and MEP designers around the world. 3D models provide the opportunity to perform calculations on projected systems early and see if the requirements are met. The main BIM tool for designing air distribution systems is MagiCAD, which is an application in both Revit and AutoCAD. Revit MagiCAD is relatively new in the construction industry but is also starting to establish itself and is today used by HVAC and MEP engineers in over 75 countries around the world. The report aims to test the reliability of calculations in air distribution systems performed in Revit MagiCAD. Results from traditional approaches in similar calculations are compared against the results generated in Revit MagiCAD. Reliability was considered high when results from both hand calculation methods and MagiCAD were equivalent. Revit MagiCAD can therefore be confirmed as a reliable calculation tool for distribution systems in plumbing installations.

Att kunna exportera färdiga modeller direkt från Revit till IDA är av stor betydelse för att kunna jobba effektivt med energisimuleringar. Denna rapport ger en bakgrundsbeskrivning till hur IFC har uppkommit och är uppbyggt. Dock ligger huvudfokus på hur Revit kan implementeras i arbetsflödet, där både hur IFC-filer överförs mellan programmen och felsökning av problem med befintliga Revitmodeller beskrivs. IFC-filer är dagens standard för att överföra data mellan olika instanser under byggprocessen, det är ett programoberoende format som möjliggör samarbete mellan olika programvaror. Dagens standard är IFC4, men det vanligaste formatet idag är IFC2x3 då det nya formatet ännu inte har implementerats i alla programvaror. Vilken geometri och information som ska exporteras från Revit till IDA är ett omfattande arbete att ta reda på och ställa in. Därför innehåller denna rapport både en lathund för exportering, men även flera filer för automatisk inladdning av korrekta exporteringsinställningar i Revit. För att kunna genomföra en energisimulering krävs det att rummen är förslutna för att undvika extrema köldbryggor som kan uppstå om väggarna inte är ordentligt anslutna med taket och golvet. Därför finns flera åtgärder beskrivna för att undvika fel i simuleringen, bland annat kring problem med fönster, dörrar och problem med lagerhantering. Beskrivningen utgår ifrån att användaren inte har tidigare erfarenhet av Revit. Guiderna har testats på en gymnasieklass i ämnet CAD där resultatet visade att en stor del av lathunden kan användas av en nybörjare. Dessutom studeras skillnader i Revits verktyg för simulering mot IDA. Där samma modell simulerades på åtta olika platser och standardavvikelsen mellan resultatet beräknades, detta gav ett koefficientintervall på ± 4 %, dvs. att en simulering i IDA inte bör avvika med mer än ± 4 % i jämförelse med den som gjordes i Revit. Liknande resultat uppmättes när simuleringsskillnader i dörrar och fönster simulerades. Där en stor glasyta på en vägg kommer generera ett koefficientintervall på 3 %. Om fönstren ersätts av dörrar kommer avvikelsen att minska något till strax under 2 % sett till alla väderstreck.
It is extremely important to be able to export models directly from Revit to IDA for the energy simulations to be efficient. This report has a background description about how the IFC-format has been developed and how it is structured. However, the focus in the report is on how Revit can be implanted in the workflow, where both export and troubleshooting from Revit are described. IFC is the standard today to export data between various parts during the construction process and it is a format that is program independent, which means that it works across different applications. The current version of IFC is IFC4, but IFC2x3 is still the most used version since not every program has support for the new IFC4 format. It is extensive to figure out which data IDA requires for energy simulations, therefore this report contains both a tutorial for export settings and a file for automatic set correct export settings in Revit. To succeed with the energy simulations a requirement is that the space in the building is enclosed with walls, floor and roof, otherwise extreme thermal bridges will cause incorrect simulations. Therefore, there are several workarounds described in this report to correct these problems, including problems with windows, doors and problems with storage facilities . The description in this report is written with the assumption that the user do not have any experience with Revit. The guides were tested on a class of high school students that are studying the course CADCAD02. The result showed that when a problem occurs with a model it can easily be solved with the support from this report. Further differences between simulations in Revit and IDA were tested. The same model was simulated in eight different places and the standard deviation was calculated, this gave the coefficient range ±4 %, i.e. a simulation in IDA should not differ more than 4 % from the simulation in Revit. Similar results were found with the simulations of windows and doors, even though the difference was slightly lower.

The Jewish revolt against the Romans in 66 CE can be seen as the culmination of years of oppression at the hands of their Roman overlords. The first-century historian Josephus narrates the developments of the war and the events prior. A member of the priestly class and a general in the war, Josephus provides us a detailed account that has long troubled historians. This book was an attempt by Josephus to explain the nature of the war to his primary audience of predominantly angry and grieving Jews. The causes of the war are explained in different terms, ranging from Roman provincial administration, Jewish apocalypticism, and Jewish internal struggles. The Jews eventually reached a tipping point and engaged the Romans in open revolt. Josephus was adamant that the origin of the revolt remained with a few, youthful individuals who were able to persuade the country to rebel. This thesis emphasizes the causes of the war as Josephus saw them and how they are reflected both within The Jewish War and the later work Jewish Antiquities. By observing the Roman provincial administration spanning 6-66 CE, I argue that Judaea had low moments sprinkled throughout the time but in 66 there was something particularly different, according to Josephus. Josephus presents the governors and other important characters in the war in a very distinct way through rhetoric, narrative, and other methodology. The idea of a beginning to this revolt, no matter how obscure or hidden by Josephus, is the reason I want to examine the works of Josephus the historian.

Målet med denna rapport är att hitta ett mer effektivt tillvägagångssätt för att automatisera återföringen av de dimensionerade elementen från analysprogrammet tillbaka till BIM-modellen. Rapporten demonstrerar en metod som möjliggör en smidig export mellan de två programmen och medför mindre tid och kostnader. Denna tidsbesparing har analyserats och resulterar i en kostnadsjämförelse som jämfördes med den framtagna- och nuvarande arbetsgången. Den framtagna metoden visar sig i rapporten vara väldigt tidseffektivt och kan spara mycket resurser.
The overwhelming majority of new construction projects today are modeled using Building Information modeling. As the input-model in BIM contains a great deal of information, this model can be exported to an external design program in order to analyze the structural strength. The purpose of this report is to demonstrate a method of returning the designed elements back to BIM after being modeled in the external calculation program. The report shows a simple and more effective method than what is being used now. The amount of time that is saved if the new method would be implemented has been calculated and the costs of the old methods have been compared to the demonstrated one. The suggested method in this report has been shown to be very time-efficient and has the ability to save time and reduce project costs.

Resumen

Laser scanning is a method of surveying that has evolved rapidly in recentyears. The technique is based on a laser scanner set up, which can document a structureusing pulsed laser beams. Each time the laser hits a surface it is partly reflectedback to the scanner that stores the point. By using strategically placed targets, storedpoints from different scans can be merged into a point cloud. A point cloud is avisualization of the scanned object with a very high accuracy. The point cloud is thenimported into appropriate software to create a simplification of the object, which thencan be usedin a design or construction tool.The large amount of information that point clouds result in is oftendifficult to manageand simplifications must be done. The purpose of this study is toexplore the possibility to skip this step. In collaboration with Ma'ttja'nstAB, the market will be searched for appropriate software and plug-ins that can handlethis. Some criteria for good software are being able to automatically generatesurfaces, checking the accuracy of the result and in a user-friendly way be able tonavigate through the point cloud. In this study point clouds from Autodesk were used,this were practical because no conversion of the format was needed.Autodesk Revit Architecture and AutoCAD were the design tools that were selectedfor this study. These two programs have recently developed a format compatiblewith large point clouds. Plugins that werealso looked into are Scan To BIM (Revit), ShapeExtraction (AutoCAD) and Kubit pointcloud (AutoCAD). All programs arecompatible with the point cloud format PCG11.This study could establish that it is possible to skip the simplification
