Texto completoThis research addresses the problem of diagnosis and monitoring for predictive maintenance of the railway infrastructure. In particular, the switch mechanism is a vital organ because its operating state directly impacts the overall safety of the railway system and its proper functioning is required for the full availability of the transportation system; monitoring it is a key task within maintenance team actions. To monitor and diagnose the switch mechanism, the main available data are curves of electric power acquired during several switch operations. This study therefore focuses on modeling curve-valued or functional data presenting regime changes. In this thesis we propose new probabilistic generative machine learning methodologies for curve modeling, classification, clustering and tracking. First, the models we propose for a single curve or independent sets of curves are based on specific regression models incorporating a flexible hidden process. They are able to capture non-stationary (dynamic) behavior within the curves and address the problem of missing information regarding the underlying regimes, and the problem of complex shaped classes. We then propose dynamic models for learning from curve sequences to make decision and prediction over time. The developed approaches rely on autoregressive dynamic models governed by hidden processes. The learning of the models is performed in both a batch mode (in which the curves are stored in advance) and an online mode as the learning proceeds (in which the curves are analyzed one at a time). The obtained results on both simulated curves and the real world switch operation curves demonstrate the practical use of the ideas introduced in this thesis
Badre, Lara. "Les déterminants de la migration des compétences au Liban". Thesis, Sorbonne Paris Cité, 2015. http://www.theses.fr/2015USPCB172.
Texto completoThis thesis focuses on the determinants of the highly skilled migration in Lebanon whose main purpose is to identify factors and risks associated with migration among highly skilled graduates. The research problem is summarized in the following main question: Given equal level of education, which graduate becomes a migrant? To address the lack of data on this particular topic, we conducted a (online) survey on graduates from the Lebanese American University and the Holy Spirit University of Kaslik in Lebanon. Graduates from both universities form diverse cultural, linguistic and socioeconomic characteristics that are representative of Lebanese graduates in general. The aim of the survey was to compare similarities and contrast differences between migrant and non-migrant graduates in order to understand their diverse behavior with regard to migration. Based on survey results, we carried out a segmentation of graduates and divided them into sub-groups based on their migration status allowing us to understand their behavior with regard to migration. The descriptive analysis of the survey results reveals differences in demographic, economic and family characteristics between migrant and non-migrant graduates, but little divergence were found regarding their university studies and the field of education. We also modeled a number of risks associated with migration and we demonstrated that the risk of migrating could be determined by a number of individual and family factors, but mainly over time, i.e. the time since graduation with the highest university degree. We also demonstrate that even at equal level of education, human capital and social capital can determine international migration among graduates who have obtained the same level of education and experienced the same socio-economic conditions in Lebanon. We have also explored barriers that hinder migration among skilled graduates and briefly analyzed the main factors determining their return migration to Lebanon. Based on these findings we confirm that we have validated our assumptions by facts based on survey results. Despite the relative difficulty in the study of international migration in general and the implementation of online surveys, we managed to obtain very interesting results which we also compared to available data on skilled migration in Lebanon and at the global level

Texto completoThis thesis regroups our results on dependent time series prediction. The work is divided into three main chapters where we tackle different problems. The first one is the aggregation of predictors of Causal Bernoulli Shifts using a Bayesian approach. The second one is the aggregation of predictors of what we define as sub-linear processes. Locally stationary time varying autoregressive processes receive a particular attention; we investigate an adaptive prediction scheme for them. In the last main chapter we study the linear regression problem for a general class of locally stationary processes

Texto completoProblematic: In recent years, several studies have outlined the obstacles faced by nurse practitioners (NP) in primary care in their daily practice. The lack of autonomy, the limited scope of practice and the lack of collaboration in care teams are factors that are highlighted in the studies as challenges faced by these nurses. Nurse practitioners in primary care in Quebec are no exception and their deployment has also been difficult for some. These obstacles can give to the NP the intention to leave their work and knowing the factors influencing this intention could therefore help to maintain these indispensable professionals in the health care system. Aim: Identify the factors that influence the intention to leave of NP in primary care working in the Quebec public health care system. Methods: This study is a secondary analysis of data collected between March and April 2017 using a self-administered questionnaire that lasts approximately 45 minutes. The sample for this study is composed of the 222 NP in primary care who participated. The factors influencing the intention to leave measured are: work rewards, condition of work environment, relationship and support from manager, organizational support and practices, relationships with co-workers, nurse characteristics and external factors. Descriptive, bivariate and multiple regression analyzes were used to meet the aim of the study. Findings: 23% of NP in primary care plan to leave their current establishment within the next three years (n=199), 2% thinks about leaving their profession (n=198) and 10% are thinking about leaving the public health care system in favor of a private organization (n=196). These results are comparable to those obtained by a study published in 2011 where 27.2% of nurse practitioners were thinking about leaving their jobs and 5.5% of them were thinking about leaving the nursing profession (n=254). The factors associated with the intent to leave of the NP in primary care are: the decrease of their salary compared to the net salary before being NP and the lack of flexibility in the work schedules compared to the possibility of having flexibles schedules. Also, the decrease of collaboration with others health professionals and doctors is associated with an increase in the intention to leave. Conclusion: These new informations could assist managers in the development of retention strategies to maintain primary care NP in workplace.
