Resumen
A set of theoretical, methodological and practical problems associated with the creation of an intelligent complex for adaptive control of microclimate parameters, the processes of freezing food products in the refrigerating chambers of an industrial refrigerator has been studied. Accordingly, for this task, the structure of the neural network controller of the refrigeration capacity of refrigeration machines of the process control system of an industrial refrigerator was developed, in which information enters the database, a neural network with a learning module and turns into decision-making modules into management actions on the executive intelligent mechanisms of compressors, condensers, evaporators, minimizing CO2 emissions. A model of refrigeration supply for refrigerating chambers of an industrial refrigerator has been developed, in which the parameters of loading geometry and freezing speed, refrigerant pressure in the evaporator in real time determine the parameters of refrigeration supply for refrigerating chambers. The microclimate of the refrigerating chamber is estimated using a multi-parameter model of a neuron-odd decision tree with two integrated output nodes for classifying the state of refrigeration supply of refrigerating chambers. For the decision maker, an intelligent decision support system has been developed for the main block of the upper level of the process control system for an industrial refrigerator, which differs from analogues in the accuracy of predicting the quality of the frozen product by training the neural network using the backpropagation method. Simulation studies of the neural network control system for the refrigeration supply of refrigerating chambers and the process of freezing products with interchangeable structures proved that the system provides the specified control quality parameters, minimizes CO2 emissions and prevents the loss of taste properties of the frozen product.

This paper performed a comparative study on solar photovoltaic refrigeration technology and solar adsorption refrigeration technology. The experimental results showed that in sunny day, COP of the solar fin pipe adsorption refrigerator was 0.13, and was higher than 0.12, COP of the photovoltaic refrigerator. With the solar radiation enhancement within a certain range, the COP of solar adsorption refrigerator increased faster than COP of solar photovoltaic refrigerator. From the aspects of economy, with the same refrigerating capacity, the cost of the adsorption refrigerators was 30% higher than that of the photovoltaic refrigerators.

Resumen
Mathematical modeling appears to be a valuable tool for controlling the cooling and storage process of agricultural products. Therefore, mathematical modeling of the balance of heat and mass in refrigeration chambers is relevant. Mathematical modeling of the thermal regime of the thermal regime of a refrigeration chamber with a heat pump and determining temperature changes depending on time. Mathematical modeling is carried out based on the thermal balance of the refrigerating chamber by the method of conservation of mass and energy. It has been established that cooling and long-term storage of agricultural products in refrigeration chambers require a huge amount of electrical energy. At an outside air temperature of 30℃, it takes 30-40 minutes to cool products to the required temperature; for long-term storage, 5.5-6.0 kWh/day of electrical energy is consumed. A combined dryer-refrigerator with a heat pump for storing agricultural products is proposed and a mathematical model of the refrigeration chamber is given, which makes it possible to analyze the temperature regime in the refrigeration chamber.

Resumen
The article proposes a set of theoretical and practical attributes associated with design decisions regarding the processes of freezing meat products in refrigerators with a large load capacity of industrial refrigerators. A system of intelligent sensors has been developed to control the parameters of the geometry of the carcass of cattle meat and signs of the state of the evaporators of the refrigeration chamber and the refrigeration supply system of an industrial refrigerator. An automatic recognition system has been developed that works in real time and determines: geometric parameters of local and integral sections of the carcass in the form of a plane, radii, length, width, number of contour inflection points, geometric center of image elements; humidity settings. This system constantly analyzes the space of sections of the refrigerating chamber. An intelligent system for neurocontrol of the refrigeration supply of a refrigerating chamber is proposed, in which two video cameras and matrix sensors with piezoelectric elements for assessing the shape of a cattle carcass are mounted; it has been proved that the expert ink image bank allows using reference methods of comparative analysis. Thanks to the interface with information support subsystems, the system provides the operator-technologist with video information and automatically affects the intelligent actuators of compressors, fans, condensers. A system for neuro-fuzzy control of the evaporator freezing process has been developed, which provides for an expert system, a recognition algorithm, an expert image bank of an evaporator with a snow coat and an intelligent mechanism for the impact of ultrasonic vibrations on the surface of a cooling device. A generalized algorithm for the operation of refrigeration control systems for the refrigerating chamber of an industrial refrigerator and a method for its use are presented.

Abstract Various models are already developed to achieve the refrigerating effect. Each refrigeration system has its own set of benefits and drawbacks, as well as a unique application. The vapor compression refrigeration system and the sorption refrigeration system are the two most prominent refrigeration technologies that may be utilized for a variety of purposes. In the medical profession, cascade refrigeration will be established in the storage of blood banks, plasma, vaccines, bone banks, biological fluids storage, etc. Storing heat-sensitive vaccines at the right temperature is crucial yet often difficult by the availability of ultralow temperature cold storage. This paper has reviewed that the different types of cascade refrigeration systems for a better refrigerating effect on vaccine storage.

The strategy of the coordinated management of electric consumption of the industrial refrigerator of the enterprise of a food complex on production of foodstuff is offered. The structure of the integrated intelligent power management system of the refrigerator enterprise has been developed, in which the systems of automated control of electricity metering and control of the refrigeration trajectory of refrigeration chambers are built-in. The system uses a situation center, industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), digital platform “FOOD” with software (freezing of food products). According to the ASUE-ACS command, the upper level of the industrial refrigerator and its software fulfill the set parameters of the portfolio of orders for active and reactive capacities of the food complex enterprises. An algorithm for controlling an industrial refrigerator during periods of power system power limitations has been developed. It is proved that the reduction of specific energy consumption for the production of one ton of frozen food during the period of power system power limitations and fan outages is possible only by optimizing the technological and energy parameters of refrigeration machines. Technologies for reducing energy consumption by controlling the reactive and active power of synchronous motors of reciprocating compressors and frequency control of asynchronous motors of screw compressors and asynchronous motors of evaporating condensers are presented. Simulation of the geometry of the in-chamber loading of the refrigerating chambers of an industrial refrigerator is performed. New approaches to the choice of adaptive regulators of synchronous motor exciters have been developed, which are coordinated in real time with the energy modes of operation of refrigeration machines and the geometry of refrigeration chamber loading. The possibility of improving the efficiency of power management regimes of food industry enterprises through coordinated automated control of cooling and freezing of meat products, poultry, fish, dairy products, fruits and the use of automated power management systems by building expert and human-machine decision making systems. The developed systems will allow to meet the requirements of energy generating companies for active and reactive loads, reduce costs in the power grid and maintain the voltage in the nodes of electrical receivers within the established norms.

The coefficient of performance (COP), the volumetric refrigeration capacity and the pressure ratio of refrigeration cycle were studied in a refrigeration-type compressed-air dryer using environmentally friendly refrigerants R410A and R407C and compared with those using R22. Study indicates that under the working condition of a refrigeration-type compressed-air dryer, COP using R410A is 3% higher than that using R407C, the volumetric refrigeration capacity using R410A is 50 percentage points higher than that using R407C and the pressure ratio of R410A is 10% less than that of R407C. COP using R410A equals 96% of that using R22 and the volumetric refrigerating capacity equals 147% of that using R22. COP using R407C is equal to 93% of that using R22 and the volumetric refrigerating capacity is equal to 97% of that using R22. R410A is a more appropriate alternative to R22 than R407C in a refrigeration-type compressed-air dryer.

This is because batteries and other electrical components are sensitive to high temperatures and accumulate heat within their structure. In this work, we investigate using a thermoacoustic refrigerator to cool the battery of a parallel hybrid single-aisle commercial transport aircraft. This thermoacoustic refrigeration system is powered by waste heat from the turbofan engine core, whereas a conventional refrigerator consumes electricity from the battery or shaft power offtakes. Compared to a conventional vapor cycle refrigerator, the thermoacoustic refrigeration system results in greater mission fuel burn because of pressure losses attributable to the extraction of heat from the turbofan to drive the thermoacoustic refrigerator. Heat exchangers with very low pressure losses may render the thermoacoustic refrigeration system beneficial compared to conventional refrigeration in certain use cases, such as low-altitude missions.

Objective. The aim of the work is to develop a calorimetric stand that allows simulating the operation of an energy-efficient two-evaporator refrigeration unit of a household refrigerator or freezer.Method. In the course of the work, a calorimetric setup is described that allows conducting experimental studies to determine the cooling capacity and energy efficiency of a modernized refrigeration unit of a household refrigerator.Result. Currently, new resource-saving circuit solutions for household refrigeration equipment have been developed. The developed solutions make it possible to increase the efficiency of the refrigeration unit, as well as to reduce its energy consumption. Theoretical calculations confirming these indicators have been carried out. To confirm the calculated values, automated experimental studies are required to determine the parameters of the refrigeration unit. The paper proposes a description of an automated calorimetric stand that allows simulating the operation of an energy-efficient dual-evaporator refrigeration unit of a household refrigerator or freezer.Conclusion. The designed calorimetric stand will allow carrying out complex experimental studies to determine the cooling capacity of the modernized refrigeration unit when operating on various refrigerants. The experimental setup also makes it possible to measure the temperature and pressure during the operation of the refrigeration unit, as well as to determine the influence of various factors on its characteristics.

Thermionic refrigeration using semiconductor heterostructures is examined theoretically and experimentally. A theory of single-barrier devices is first developed where two classes of single-barrier devices are defined and compared. So-called class 1 devices are found to always perform better. A theory of multiple-barrier devices based on class 1 barriers is then developed using a numerical solution. Experimentally, three generations of 10-barrier devices based on A1(subscript x)Ga(subscript 1-x)As-GaAs heterostructures were made and electrically characterised. This material is by no means ideal (as will be discussed) but was used to availability and because, at the commencement of this work, had never been used for this purpose before. Thermal measurements were made to determine if any cooling occurred at room temperature. No cooling was observed but the electrical characteristics allowed for examination of the models developed. It was found that the earlier models used did not accurately model the I-V characteristics of the devices. This was attributed to the fact that the initial models did not take space-charge into account. A more robust numerical model is developed in which the I-V characteristics of devices are predicted much more accurately. This model is then used to design new generations of devices. The work concludes by recommending a next generation design in which substantially more cooling is expected compared to the samples examined here. The probability of cooling being observed in the future is therefore increased. The types of devices described here will always be hindered because of heat conduction. Other methods incorporating thermionic emission, such as an opto-thermionic system in which removed heat is given off as light, may ultimately prove to be the best solution. This aside, it is hoped that the work presented here will contribute to the understanding of the field.

Cooling of electronic equipments has become an important issue as the advances in technology enabled the fabrication of very small devices. The main challenge in cooling is the space limitation. The use of miniature refrigerators seems to be a solution alternative for the cooling problem. The objective of this study is to design and simulate a vapor compression refrigeration cycle for a micro-scale refrigerator. A MATLAB code is developed for the simulations. The four components of the refrigerator, namely, the condenser, evaporator, compressor and the capillary tube are designed separately. The cycle is successfully completed nearly at the same point where it begins. The cold space temperature, ambient air temperature, condensation and evaporation temperatures, and the evaporator heat load are the predetermined parameters. A fan is used to cool the condenser, and the compressor is selected as isentropic. R-134A is selected as the refrigerant and a simple interpolation code is developed to obtain the thermophysical properties of R-134A. The original design is carried out with an isentropic compressor. For the purpose of comparison, a cycle with a polytropic compressor is also considered. Similarly, two alternative designs for the evaporator are developed and simulated. A second law analysis is performed at the end of the study.

In order to design a coolerbox, utilising Thermo-electric technology as a heat pump, it was necessary to determine if this type of technology would be suitable for a coolerbox heat pump application. A detailed TEC (Thermo Electric Cooler) sizing estimation was done, using formulas supplied by the manufacturer, and using thermo-electric themy formulas to calculate the absolute theoretical performance parameters for a suitable TEe The correct heat pumping capability is important since.it is possible to obtain TEes with different input currents, voltages and heat pumping capabilities. Using the TEC as a heat pump, it was decided to use water cooling due to the extremely high cost of a suitable air cooled heatsink. It should be noted that to cool the hot side of theTEe a vel}' efficient heat exchanger should be used. A simulator was constructed to simulate, under variable operating temperatures and input powers, the cooling capacity of the TEC heat exchanger. The cooling characteristics were then used to determine if the theol}' and manufacturers claims correspond with the cooling characteristics of the coolerbox. It might be possible that the performance of the TEC would be drastically influenced, since installation con~itions may not be ideal when installed; and, that the manufacturers performance claims are done when the TEC is operated under ideal conditions. This would ensure optimum results because, should an under sized TEC be used, the result would be poor cooling characteristics; or, if the TEC is over sized, the coolerbox would consume too much power, resulting in an inefficient system.

Resumen
The increased global demand for energy will generate a growing need to electrify rural populations. Photovoltaic systems are being considered for many rural areas in the tropics. The development of photovoltaic-powered refrigeration will provide access to food preservation, which will result in improved health conditions. The over-arching objective of this investigation is to develop a properly designed, cost effective and energy efficient photovoltaic-powered refrigerator for tropical climates. The specific objectives of this investigation are to develop a design methodology and evaluate design variables for a photovoltaic system and refrigeration unit for tropical climates (high heat, low sun) that can be manufactured at relatively low costs. The price goal for the refrigerator and photovoltaic system is $1,000 retail. The investigation was accomplished through a five-step process: 1) background engineering and market research, 2) modeling, 3) model verification, 4) hourly simulation, and 5) cost analysis. Results indicate that over-sizing the condenser and the extreme insulation of the refrigeration unit reduced the overall cost of the refrigerator and photovoltaic system. Also, the investigation demonstrated that proper design of the photovoltaic system is the key to determining the refrigerator’s ability to perform in harsh climates.

Resumen
This paper presents the results of an experimental investigation of a steam jet refrigerator suitable for renewable or low-medium grade waste energy applications. An experimental system of an ejector refrigeration system was constructed and fabricated. Different parameters of the ejector refrigeration system were investigated, such as the high-temperature evaporator (HTE) temperature, low temperature evaporator (LTE) temperature, and back pressure. The coefficient of performance (COP) of the ejector refrigeration system was determined. In addition, the effects of the operating temperatures on the COP and critical back pressure were investigated. The results are expected to motivate the use of ejector refrigeration systems for air-conditioning.

Resumen
The purpose of this study is to investigate how the heat exchanger inventory allocation plays a role in maximizing the thermal performance of a two-stage refrigeration system with two evaporators. First, the system is modeled as a Carnot refrigerator and a particular heat transfer parameter is kept constant as the heat exchanger allocation parameter is allowed to vary. The value of the heat exchanger allocation parameter corresponding to the maximum coefficient of performance (COP) is noted. The results are compared to those of a non-Carnot refrigerator with isentropic and non-isentropic compression. It is found that the Carnot refrigerator can be used to predict the value of the heat exchanger allocation parameter where the maximum COP occurs for a non-Carnot refrigerator. In order to improve the accuracy of that prediction, the predicted value of the heat exchanger allocation parameter has to be inputted into the set of equations used for the non-Carnot refrigerator. This study is useful in designing a low cost, high-performance refrigeration system.

Resumen
Utilizing refrigeration is one alternative to improve the operating performance of microelectronic devices. Unless large-scale refrigeration systems are acceptable, it is likely that miniature, or mesoscale, refrigerators will be required that can be directly incorporated into electronic packaging. The present study builds on the authors’ previous investigation of mesoscale refrigerators, which emphasized how only thermoelectric coolers (TEC’s) are capable of being miniaturized in the near future. Many other refrigeration systems, however, are being examined for their potential to be miniaturized, including the vapor-compression, Stirling, and pulse-tube cycles. Here a simple analysis is presented that shows the feasibility of utilizing these systems in electronics packaging. One finding is that, provided a suitable mesoscale compressor can be constructed, a vapor-compression refrigerator may yield the best performance of the investigated systems.

This paper describes performance comparison of two types of hybrid configuration of power generation and refrigeration cycles using ammonia-water mixture by simulation calculation. Difference between two configurations is the ammonia mass fraction of solution from the turbine system (power generation cycle) to the ammonia absorption refrigerator (refrigeration cycle). The newer configuration (configuration 2) supplies higher mass fraction solution to the refrigerator. As a result, both configurations show larger system net power than separate operations when the basic composition (the ammonia mass fraction of the evaporator in the turbine system) is 0.45 kg/kg. The performance gains of configuration 1 and 2 are 13.6% and 13.8%, respectively.

Resumen
This paper presents results of an optimization study for a two-stage vapor compression refrigeration cycle based on the refrigerating efficiency and exergy index. Traditional two-stage refrigeration cycle studies have focused on the first law performance, while those studies dealing with the second law have primarily been limited to performance analysis as opposed to performance optimization. Results of this study indicate that the use of the common approximation of the geometric mean to find the optimum interstage pressure leads to nearly optimum results for the refrigerating efficiency, with maximum error in the neighborhood of 5%. However, the error associated with using this approximation to find the optimum exergy index is too large, approaching 15%. Second law optimization revealed that the optimum data curves themselves have maxima for each set of conditions tested. There are a series of conditions that lead to the conclusion that, for a given system, there is an optimum set of conditions that lead to the lowest amount of exergy destruction for that system. Polynomial equations have been fitted to the resultant optimum data for the refrigerating efficiency and exergy index. These equations allow for the reproduction of optimum points based on high- and low-pressure compressor efficiencies and condenser and evaporator pressures.
