Resumen
Let $(f,\alpha)$ be the process given by an endomorphism $f$ and by a finite partition $\alpha=\{A\}_{i=1}^{s}$ of a Lebesgue space. Let $E(f,\alpha)$ be the set of densities of absolutely continuous invariant measures for skew products with the base $(f,\alpha)$. We prove that a process $(f,\alpha)$ is Markovian if and only if $E(f,\alpha)\subset \{g: g=\sum_{i=1}^{s} 1_{A_{i}}\otimes g_{i}\}$. If $f$ is the Lasota–Yorke or Misiurewicz type map with the Markovian partition $\alpha$, then $(f,\alpha)$ is quasi-Markovian, i.e. $E(f,\alpha)\subset \{g:\supp g=\bigcup_{i=1}^{s} A_{i}\times B_{i}\}$. Moreover, we give the characterization of quasi-Markovian processes.

Resumen
In this study, we proposed and studied the alpha power transformed quasi Lindley distribution. The new model has three sub models, namely, Lindley, quasi Lindley and alpha power transformed Lindley distributions. The pdf, hazard rate function, quantile function, mo-ments, Rényi entropy, stochastic ordering and distributions of order statistics were derived based on the new model. The maximum like-lihood method of estimating the model parameters was considered. A simulation study was conducted to investigate the behavior of the maximum likelihood estimates. It was observed that the average bias and mean squared error decreased as the sample size increased. By analyzing a real data set, we illustrated the usefulness of the proposed distribution.

Resumen
AbstractIn this article we provide new results for the asymptotic behavior of a time-fractional birth and death process $N_{\alpha}(t)$ , whose transition probabilities $\mathbb{P}[N_{\alpha}(t)=\,j\mid N_{\alpha}(0)=i]$ are governed by a time-fractional system of differential equations, under the condition that it is not killed. More specifically, we prove that the concepts of quasi-limiting distribution and quasi-stationary distribution do not coincide, which is a consequence of the long-memory nature of the process. In addition, exact formulas for the quasi-limiting distribution and its rate convergence are presented. In the first sections, we revisit the two equivalent characterizations for this process: the first one is a time-changed classic birth and death process, whereas the second one is a Markov renewal process. Finally, we apply our main theorems to the linear model originally introduced by Orsingher and Polito [23].

Resumen
Abstract The modelling of resonant waves in 2D plasma leads to the coupling of two degenerate elliptic equations with a smooth coefficient $\alpha $ and compact terms. The coefficient $\alpha $ changes sign. The region where $\{\alpha&gt;0\}$ is propagative, and the region where $\{\alpha &lt;0\}$ is non propagative and elliptic. The two models are coupled through the line $\varSigma =\{\alpha =0\}$. Generically, it is an ill-posed problem and additional information must be introduced to get a satisfactory treatment at $\varSigma $. In this work, we define the solution by relying on the limiting absorption principle ($\alpha $ is replaced by $\alpha +i0^+$) in an adapted functional setting. This setting lies on the decomposition of the solution in a regular and a singular part, which originates at $\varSigma $, and on quasi-solutions. It leads to a new well-posed mixed variational formulation with coupling. As we design explicit quasi-solutions, numerical experiments can be carried out, which illustrate the good properties of this new tool for numerical computation.

We study the linear stability of two superposed layers of viscous, immiscible fluids of different densities. The whole system is subject to horizontal quasi-periodic oscillation with two incommensurates frequencies ω1 and ω2. The spectral method and Floquet’s theory combined with Runge-Kutta method are used to solve numericelly the linear problem. We analyse the influence of the frequencies ratio$ \omega = {{{\omega _1}} \over {{\omega _2}}} $, on the mariginal stability. The numerical solution shows that the quasi-periodic excitation has a stabilizing or a destabilizing effect on the Kelvin-Helmholtz instability as well as in the parametric resonances depending on the frequency ratio and the amplitudes ratio $ \alpha = {{{\alpha _2}} \over {{\alpha _1}}} $.

AbstractWe prove the existence of small amplitude, time-quasi-periodic solutions (invariant tori) for the incompressible Navier–Stokes equation on the d-dimensional torus $$\mathbb T^d$$ T d , with a small, quasi-periodic in time external force. We also show that they are orbitally and asymptotically stable in $$H^s$$ H s (for s large enough). More precisely, for any initial datum which is close to the invariant torus, there exists a unique global in time solution which stays close to the invariant torus for all times. Moreover, the solution converges asymptotically to the invariant torus for $$t \rightarrow + \infty $$ t → + ∞ , with an exponential rate of convergence $$O( e^{- \alpha t })$$ O ( e - α t ) for any arbitrary $$\alpha \in (0, 1)$$ α ∈ ( 0 , 1 ) .

Resumen
<p>Complex fuzzy logic (CFL) is an emerging topic of research in fuzzy logic. Due to the circle structured codomain of the complex membership function, algebraic structure (including MV-algebra) in traditional fuzzy logic cannot be easily transplanted to CFL. Quasi-MV algebras are almost identical to MV algebras, except $ \alpha\oplus\textbf{0} = \alpha $ does not always hold. In this paper, our goal is to derive some algebraic structures for CFL. We first construct a quasi-MV algebra in complex fuzzy logic by introducing negation and truncated sum in the unit disc of the complex plane $ \textbf{S} $. Next we construct a $ \sqrt{\neg} $ quasi-MV algebra over $ \textbf{S} $ by adding an operation of square root of the negation. Moreover, implication connective and some derived connectives on $ \textbf{S} $ are introduced. Furthermore, we construct a quasi-Wajsberg algebra over $ \textbf{S} $ in which implication is a primitive connective. These algebraic structures are suitable for CFL.</p>

Resumen
Quasi-symmetry can greatly improve the confinement of energetic particles and thermal plasma in a stellarator. The magnetic field of a quasi-symmetric stellarator at high plasma pressure is significantly affected by the bootstrap current, but the computational cost of accurate stellarator bootstrap calculations has precluded use inside optimization. Here, a new efficient method is demonstrated for optimization of quasi-symmetric stellarator configurations such that the bootstrap current profile is consistent with the geometry. The approach is based on the fact that all neoclassical phenomena in quasi-symmetry are isomorphic to those in axisymmetry. Therefore, accurate formulas for the bootstrap current in tokamaks, which can be evaluated rapidly, can be applied also in stellarators. The deviation between this predicted parallel current and the actual parallel current in the magnetohydrodynamic equilibrium is penalized in the objective function, and the current profile of the equilibrium is included in the parameter space. Quasi-symmetric configurations with significant pressure are thereby obtained with self-consistent bootstrap current and excellent confinement. In a comparison of fusion-produced alpha particle confinement across many stellarators, the new configurations have significantly lower alpha energy losses than many previous designs.

Полученные результаты проиллюстрированы на модельном примере. Исследовано поведение квазиэффективной границы в зависимости от значения $\alpha $-уровня. This paper describes methods for constructing a quasi-efficient frontier of minimum risk portfolio under conditions of hybrid uncertainty with allowed short sales. Investor's acceptable level of expected return is defined in crisp and fuzzy forms. Obtained results are illustrated on a model example. The dependance of the quasi-efficient frontier on the value of $\alpha$-level is investigated.

Resumen
Abstract In modern, highly optimized stellarator configurations where prompt fusion alpha particle losses from the plasma core are absent, alpha particles can still be lost due to stochastic orbits which result in delayed losses. One mechanism leading to stochastic orbits are changes in the particle trapping class during drift motion along the contours of the parallel adiabatic invariant J ∥ leading to jumps in J ∥ when crossing class boundaries. Another mechanism, which is of main interest here, is the resonance between particle drift and bounce motion (drift-orbit resonance). The first mechanism affects mainly trapped particles near the trapped-passing boundary in the phase space of quasi-symmetric and quasi-isodynamic devices, and can be minimized there by aligning local magnetic field maxima on a given flux surface. The second mechanism may affect a broader range in the trapped particle domain where contours of J ∥ still remain closed. Drift-orbit resonances modify the topology of orbits leading to island-like structures on Poincaré plots where these islands may overlap thus leading to the stochastic transport. In this report, we study this stochastization mechanism in quasi-symmetric stellarator configurations with help of the Hamiltonian drift-kinetic code NEO-RT as well as orbit classification and direct computation of fusion alpha losses within the symplectic orbit following code SIMPLE. The width and overlap of resonances in phase-space is studied using Hamiltonian perturbation theory. Based on optimized reactor configurations we assess if this approach can be used as a fast metric for fusion alpha losses in stellarator optimization.

Resumen
An alpha finite element method (\(\alpha\)FEM) has been recently proposed to compute nearly exact solution in strain energy for solid mechanics problems using three-node triangular (\(\alpha\)FEM-T3) and four-node tetrahedral (\(\alpha\)FEM-T4) elements. In the \(\alpha\)FEM, a scale factor \(\alpha \in [0, 1]\) is used to combine the standard fully compatible model of the FEM with a quasi-equilibrium model of the node-based smoothed FEM (NS-FEM). This novel combination of the FEM and NS-FEM makes the best use of the upper bound property of the NS-FEM and the lower bound property of the standard FEM. This paper concentrates on applying directly the \(\alpha\)FEM for solid mechanics to obtain the very accurate solutions with a suitable computational cost by using \(\alpha = 0.6\) for 2D problems and \(\alpha = 0.7\) for 3D problems.

Resumen
The effect of alpha-thrombin and ADP on calcium mobilization and alpha-granule release in individual platelets was investigated by flow cytometry. alpha-Thrombin (4.5 nM) caused a uniform rise of free cytosolic calcium ([Ca2+]i) among indo-1-loaded human platelets. Despite the uniformity of this effect, approximately 20% of the cells failed to secrete alpha-granule content, as shown by binding of fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC)-conjugated S12 monoclonal antibody. ADP (10 microM) caused a similar brisk and uniform rise of calcium but did not increase S12 binding to any platelets. On the other hand, with alpha-thrombin (0.5 nM), calcium mobilization was heterogeneous and paralleled granule release. [Ca2+]i increased rapidly in some platelets, while only slowly in others. When an electronic gate was set according to FITC-S12 fluorescence, cells with a greater secretory response proved to be those with a higher calcium level. With both alpha-thrombin and ADP, chelation of external calcium by EGTA (2 mM) reduced calcium response of individual cells. NiCl2 (1 mM) also inhibited calcium rise of individual platelets to the same extent as EGTA (2 mM) in spite of the presence of 1 mM CaCl2 in the extracellular media. The effects of EGTA and NiCl2 were not limited to a particular subpopulation of cells. These data suggest that the putative Ni2(+)-inhibitable divalent cation channel(s) may be responsible for the increased influx of calcium that occurs during platelet activation by alpha-thrombin and ADP. It appears that these calcium channels contribute to the elevation of [Ca2+]i among virtually all the platelets.

Resumen
AbstractIn the present work, it is shown that thermodynamically feasible polymerization of cyanomethanol, which can be formed from formaldehyde and hydrogen cyanide, can lead to synthesis of polypeptides as well as to the previously reported synthesis of RNA. If the polymerization takes place on a one-dimensional feature of a mineral, such as for example a crack on its surface, the concept of quasi-chirality is introduced to describe the adsorbed polypeptide. This, in principle, would lead to formation of proteins that are completely homochiral in their alpha carbon groups. The concept of quasi-chirality can also be introduced in the condensation of glycine under similar conditions to form a polypeptide. This again leads to proteins completely chiral in their alpha carbon groups.

Resumen
In this paper, we introduce a concept of statistically $p$-quasi-Cauchyness of a real sequence in the sense that a sequence $(\alpha_{k})$ is statistically $p$-quasi-Cauchy if $\lim_{n\rightarrow\infty}\frac{1}{n}|\{k\leq n: |\alpha_{k+p}-\alpha_{k}|\geq{\varepsilon}\}|=0$ for each $\varepsilon>0$. A function $f$ is called statistically $p$-ward continuous on a subset $A$ of the set of real umbers $\mathbb{R}$ if it preserves statistically $p$-quasi-Cauchy sequences, i.e. the sequence $f(\textbf{x})=(f(\alpha_{n}))$ is statistically $p$-quasi-Cauchy whenever $\boldsymbol\alpha=(\alpha_{n})$ is a statistically $p$-quasi-Cauchy sequence of points in $A$. It turns out that a real valued function $f$ is uniformly continuous on a bounded subset $A$ of $\mathbb{R}$ if there exists a positive integer $p$ such that $f$ preserves statistically $p$-quasi-Cauchy sequences of points in $A$.

Resumen
The family of α-divergences including the oriented forward and reverse Kullback–Leibler divergences is often used in signal processing, pattern recognition, and machine learning, among others. Choosing a suitable α-divergence can either be done beforehand according to some prior knowledge of the application domains or directly learned from data sets. In this work, we generalize the α-divergences using a pair of strictly comparable weighted means. Our generalization allows us to obtain in the limit case α→1 the 1-divergence, which provides a generalization of the forward Kullback–Leibler divergence, and in the limit case α→0, the 0-divergence, which corresponds to a generalization of the reverse Kullback–Leibler divergence. We then analyze the condition for a pair of weighted quasi-arithmetic means to be strictly comparable and describe the family of quasi-arithmetic α-divergences including its subfamily of power homogeneous α-divergences. In particular, we study the generalized quasi-arithmetic 1-divergences and 0-divergences and show that these counterpart generalizations of the oriented Kullback–Leibler divergences can be rewritten as equivalent conformal Bregman divergences using strictly monotone embeddings. Finally, we discuss the applications of these novel divergences to k-means clustering by studying the robustness property of the centroids.

Resumen
AbstractIn this paper, Ulam’s-type stabilities are studied for a class of first-order impulsive differential equations with bounded variable delays on compact interval with finite number of impulses. Results of stability are proved via newly established integral inequality of Bellman–Grönwall–Bihari type with delay for discontinuous functions. Using this inequality for the first time and assumption of $\alpha$-H$\ddot{o}$lder’s condition instead of common Lipschitz condition is novelty of this paper. Moreover, solution is obtained in quasi–Banach spaces which is best suited for obtaining results under the assumptions of $\alpha$-H$\ddot{o}$lder’s condition.

Resumen
AbstractWe examine the form, properties, stability and evolution of doubly-connected (two-vortex) relative equilibria in the single-layer $f$-plane quasi-geostrophic shallow-water model of geophysical fluid dynamics. Three parameters completely describe families of equilibria in this system: the ratio $\gamma = L/ {L}_{D} $ between the horizontal size of the vortices and the Rossby deformation length; the area ratio $\alpha $ of the smaller to the larger vortex; and the minimum distance $\delta $ between the two vortices. We vary $0\lt \gamma \leq 10$ and $0. 1\leq \alpha \leq 1. 0$, determining the boundary of stability $\delta = {\delta }_{c} (\gamma , \alpha )$. We also examine the nonlinear development of the instabilities and the transitions to other near-equilibrium configurations. Two modes of instability occur when $\delta \lt {\delta }_{c} $: a small-$\gamma $ asymmetric (wave 3) mode, which is absent for $\alpha \gtrsim 0. 6$; and a large-$\gamma $ mode. In general, major structural changes take place during the nonlinear evolution of the vortices, which near ${\delta }_{c} $ may be classified as follows: (i) vacillations about equilibrium for $\gamma \gtrsim 2. 5$; (ii) partial straining out, associated with the small-$\gamma $ mode, where either one or both of the vortices get smaller for $\gamma \lesssim 2. 5$ and $\alpha \lesssim 0. 6$; (iii) partial merger, occurring at the transition region between the two modes of instability, where one of the vortices gets bigger, and (iv) complete merger, associated with the large-$\gamma $ mode. We also find that although conservative inviscid transitions to equilibria with the same energy, angular momentum and circulation are possible, they are not the preferred evolutionary path.

Resumen
We present the results of studies showing the presence of simultaneous jumps in the density of protons (N2/N1)p and alpha particles (N2/N1)α at the boundaries of diamagnetic structures (DS) of various types both in the quasi-stationary slow solar wind (SW) and in sporadic SW. For DS of quasi-stationary slow SW, associated with streamer belt or chains, in the statistics considered in the paper there is a single linear dependence of (N2/N1)α on (N2/N1)p. This means that these jumps have the same physical nature and are related to diamagnetism at the boundaries of DS of quasi-stationary SW streams of various types. At the front of interplanetary shock waves (ISW), the (N2/N1)α jump is approximately twice as large as the (N2/N1)p jump. This reflects the features of the collective collisionless plasma heating at ISW fronts and requires further studies. A maximum excess (almost 3 times) of the increase in the alpha-particle density (N2/N1)α over the increase in the proton density (N2/N1)p is observed in eruptive prominences. The magnetospheric response in such phenomena as auroras, proton and alpha particle fluxes, geomagnetic field, and geomagnetic pulsations is similar under the influence of DS of various types and ISW. The detected features of the magnetospheric response to the contact with DS of different types and ISW can be interpreted as impulsive passage of the DS matter (plasmoid) into the magnetosphere. The results of studies of the (N2/N1)α jumps can be used as an additional important argument in identifying cases of impulsive penetration of DS into the magnetosphere and in examining the physical nature of these penetrations.

Resumen
The quantum BRST charge for the most general, two-dimensional, nonlinear, N = 4 quasi-superconformal algebra [Formula: see text], whose linearization is the so-called 'large' N = 4 superconformal algebra, is constructed. The [Formula: see text] algebra has [Formula: see text] Kač–Moody component, and α = k−/k+. As a pre-requisite to our construction, we check the [Formula: see text] Jacobi identities and construct a classical BRST charge. Then, we analyze the quantum BRST charge nilpotency conditions and find the only solution, k+ = k− = −2. The [Formula: see text] algebra is actually isomorphic to the SO(4)-based Bershadsky–Knizhnik nonlinear quasi-superconformal algebra. We argue about the existence of a new string theory with (i) the nonlinearly realized N = 4 worldsheet supersymmetry, (ii) non-unitary matter in a [Formula: see text] representation of k = −2 and c = −6, and (iii) negative 'critical dimension'.

Resumen
Abstract The proton–alpha drift instability is a possible mechanism of the alpha-particle deceleration and the resulting proton heating in the solar wind. We present hybrid numerical simulations of this instability with particle-in-cell ions and a quasi-neutralizing electron fluid for typical conditions at 1 au. For the parameters used in this paper, we find that fast magnetosonic unstable modes propagate only in the direction opposite to the alpha-particle drift and do not produce the perpendicular proton heating necessary to accelerate the solar wind. Alfvén modes propagate in both directions and heat the protons perpendicularly to the mean magnetic field. Despite being driven by the alpha temperature anisotropy, the Alfvén instability also extracts the energy from the bulk motion of the alpha particles. In the solar wind, the instabilities operate in a turbulent ambient medium. We show that the turbulence suppresses the Alfvén instability but the perpendicular proton heating persists. Unlike a static nonuniform background, the turbulence does not invert the sense of the proton heating associated with the fast magnetosonic instability and it remains preferentially parallel.
