Resumen
Purpose The aim of this study is to find how the pyruvate intake and aerobic exercise effect on the body composition, exercise performance ability, blood factor and obesity related hormone, and to verify the effect of pyruvate intake and aerobic exercise as an effective substance for obesity improvement. Methods This study selected 20 obese men in their twenties who has more BMI than 25kg/m2, and are applicable in 25% of the body fat, and randomly sampled group of 10 people for pyruvate intake and aerobic exercise (PYA), and 10 people for placebo intake and aerobic exercise (PLA). Intake of pyruvate and placebo was implemented for 10 weeks, 6 g a day, and aerobic exercise, treadmill exercise in the intensity of 50 ~ 60%’s target heart rate, was conducted for 10 weeks, 3 times a week, 60 minutes a day. To demonstrate the effect of pyruvate intake and aerobic exercise, all of the body composition, exercise performance ability, Lactate, and blood factor and hormone related to obesity were measured before and after the test in the same manner. Results The main results from this study are as follow; 1) In the case of body composition, in PYA, weight(p < .01), BMI(p < .05), body fat percentage(p < .01), and body weight without fat(p < .001) are reduced meaningfully. 2) In the exercise performance ability increased significantly in both PYA(p < .01) and PLA(p < .001) for VO2max, Also, in the case of distance during the exercise, PYA(p < .01) and PLA(p < .05) increased significantly in 15 minutes and PYA(p < .01) and PLA(p < .05) 30 minutes, but only in PYA from 45 minutes(p < .01) to 60 minutes(p < .05) 3) In case of Lactate, the significant decrease in PYA during stabilization and the significant increase in PYA after 30 minutes of exercise was not seen after 45 minutes 4) In the case of blood factor, HDL-C showed a meaningful decrease in PLA(p < .05) and Leptin showed a meaningful decrease in PYA(p < .001). Conclusions To sum up these results, it was more effective for the group of PYA which ingested pyruvate in improving obesity, even when the same aerobic exercise is conducted.

Resumen
Background:The worldwide incidence of PyA is reportedly rising due to a combination of increased longevity, multi- comorbidity, iatrogenic complications and increasing use of immunomodulating therapies, while there is limited data on longterm outcomes of PyA.Objectives:To describe the recent incidence, risk factors and long-term outcomes in adults hospitalised with non-gonococcal pyogenic arthritis (PyA) of native joints in Western Australia (WA).Methods:We extracted population-based longitudinally linked administrative health data for patients 16 years or older with a first diagnostic code of 711.xx (ICD9-CM) and M00.xx (ICD10-AM) in WA in the period 1990-2010. Annual incidence rates (IR), risk factors during 14.5 years lookback and outcomes including standardized mortality rates (SMR) during 10.1 years follow-up are reported. Results:A total of 2,777 patients (67% male, mean age 49.8 ± 20.5) received a first diagnostic code for PyA. The AIR increased from 4.5 to 11.8 /100,000 over time as did age at onset (45.1 to 55.4 years) and proportion of female patients (23 to 36%). There was no seasonal variation in PyA incidence but a higher rate of predisposing comorbidities in female patients. Knees (33.6%) and hands (22%) were most frequently affected with 28.4 % of positive cultures not due to Gr+ cocci. Mean hospital stay was 8 days, 30-day readmittance and mortality rate was 12 .8% and 3.1% respectively. During ten years follow-up serious infections (43%), new diagnosis of osteoarthrosis (20%), joint replacement (10.8%), osteomyelitis (6%), and crystal arthropathy (6.3%) were the most common morbidities. SMR were increased across all age and gender categories (Table) but highest in females aged 16-40 (SMR 25.9).Table 1.Mortality rates (MR) per 1000 person years in patients with pyogenic arthritis compared with age (at death) and gender matched categories from the general population by standardised mortality rate (SMR)GenderAgeDeathsPerson years MR PyAMR Gen pop * SMRMale16-402740156.720.8927.5340-5980710611.252.9723.78>60331736644.9321.552.08All4381848723.695.8204.07Female16-4011102610.720.4125.9540-5940276914.441.758.21>60208408850.8824.202.10All259788332.855.505.96* Based on WA death data from Australian Bureau of statistics in 2011Conclusion:The incidence of PyA has increased significantly between 1990 and 2010 in WA. PyA associates with a 3% in-hospital mortality rate and significant late bone and joint morbidity including osteomyelitis. PyA associated with excess mortality across age and gender categories, most markedly in younger female patients.References:[1]Ross JJ. Septic arthritis of native joints. Resumen
Red leaf lettuce (Lactuca sativa) has high nutritional value and is frequently used in salads. In a plant factory with full electric lighting, if the spectrum is incorrect, then red leaf lettuce will have incomplete coloration. This study aimed to establish a light recipe for the mass production of red leaf lettuce using electric light sources in a plant factory by using indicators for quantitative assessment, including energy yield (EY) [grams of fresh weight (FW) harvested per kilowatt hour of electricity input for lighting], photon yield (PY) (grams of FW harvested per mole of photons delivered), anthocyanin yield per kilowatt hour (EYA), and anthocyanin yield per photon (PYA). First, the effects of four types of light quality on FW and anthocyanin content were examined. Then, two types of light quality, light-emitting diode with a red-to-blue photon ratio of 80:20 (R80:B20) and R20:B80, were selected for an experiment involving five treatments. An optimum light recipe (SR5SB1) including R80:B20 treatment during the early stage of cultivation (weeks 1 through 5 after sowing) followed by R20:B80 treatment during the final stage (week 6) was proposed. The SR5SB1 treatment led to FW, EYA, and PYA of 87.8 g/plant, 1.63 mg/kWh, and 0.57 mg·mol–1, respectively. This treatment resulted in the highest EYA and PYA, with 159% and 256% more anthocyanin productivity, respectively, compared with cool white treatment (with FW, EYA, and PYA of 65.8 g/plant, 0.63 mg/kWh, and 0.16 mg·mol–1, respectively). The proposed SR5SB1 light recipe enabled cultivation of red leaf lettuce with a balanced yield and anthocyanin production.

Resumen
AbstractThree new groups of phenolic antioxidants, quaternary ammonium salts with a phenol ring and alkyl chains of different length (pyrrolidine ethyl esters of 3,5-di-t-butyl-4-hydroxydihydrocinnamic acid n-alkoxymethylchlorides (PYE-n) or n-alkylbromides (PYA-n) and 2-dimethylaminoethyl ester n-alkylbromides (PPA-n), were synthesized. Some of them were previously found to efficiently protect yeast cells against oxidants and to inhibit the production of thiobarbituric acid-reactive substances in whole yeast cells and in isolated membrane lipids. The new antioxidants (at 1-100 μm) abolished or diminished peroxidation of oliwe oil emulsions caused by the OH•-producing Fe2+ and RO• and ROO•-producing tertbutylhydroperoxide (TBHP) and the azo compounds 2,2′-azobis-(amidinopropane)dihydronitrile (AAPH) and 1,1′-azobis-(1-cyclohexanecarbonitrile) (ACHN): all present at 10 mᴍ . The efficiency of individual both antioxidants was examined in relation to the type of lipid peroxidation inducer, the site of antioxidant incorporation into the emulsion lipid phase, the length of the alkyl chain, and the maximum concentration of effective antioxidant monomers given by its critical micelle concentration. PYA-n class compounds were highly efficient against all peroxidation inducers and their efficiency did not depend on the position of their molecules in the lipid phase and/or on the aliphatic chain length. In contrast, the efficiency of PYE-n and PPA-n class compounds depended both on the type of oxidant and on the length of their aliphatic chain. Their potency against Fe2+ and ACHN increased with increasing alkyl chain length whereas with AAPH it dropped with increasing alkyl chain length. A similar pattern was found with the action of PYE-n against TBHP whereas in the PPA-n group an extending alkyl chain reduced the anti-TBHP efficiency. These relationships may not be entirely straightforward and other factors (chemical nature of each compound, its possible interaction with fluorescent probes used for diagnostics, etc.) may play a considerable and not yet quite clear role. PPA-n class antioxidants have the lowest critical micelle concentration, which may limit their efficiency. Nevertheless, these phenolic antioxidants can be conveniently employed as highly efficient inhibitors of lipid peroxidation.

Resumen
<p><strong>Abstract.</strong> There are multiple conservation challenges related to decorated surfaces, the majority are intimately linked to its documentation. This paper draws on wall paintings as a representative of decorated surfaces, arguing the importance of considering its fourthdimensionality &amp;ndash; space and time &amp;ndash; in its conservation and documentation. To that end, we propose the use of Building Information Model (BIM) as a platform to consolidate this approach together with various documentation techniques used for the conservation and management of wall paintings. This paper exemplifies this method with a case study of Myin-pya-gu Temple in Old Bagan (Myanmar); firstly, reviewing the different techniques used to document the temple and wall painting (photography, photogrammetry, laser scanning, reflectance transformation imaging (RTI); and secondly, discussing the data integration within a BIM environment. This position proposes a transition from a two-dimensional to a four-dimensional approach in wall painting conservation, potentially opening up possibilities of documentation, monitoring, simulation, or dissemination. Ultimately, the case study of Myin-pya-gu has the objective to introduce the use of HBIM as a platform for consolidating the documentation of decorated surfaces.</p>

Resumen
Five coordination compounds based on 2,6-dihydroxypyrimidine-4-carboxylic acid (H3pymca), Ni2(Hpymca)2(bipy)(H2O)6?2H2O (1), Co2(Hpymca)2(bipy)(H2O)6?2H2O (2), Ni(Hpymca)(pya)(H2O)2 (3), Zn(Hpymca)(pyrapyri)(H2O)?H2O (4), and [Ba(H2pymca)2]n (5) (bipy = 4,4'-bipyridine, pya = pyridine-2-aldoxime, pyrapyri = 2-(1H-pyrazol-3-yl)pyridine) have been synthesized by hydrothermal methods and structurally characterized. The structure analyses showed that compounds 1 and 2 are isostructural with triclinic, P-1 space group, where the bipy molecule bridges with two metal ions, and Hpymca2- anions serve as bidentate-terminated ligands around the metal ions through carboxylate and pyrimidine groups. For compounds 3 and 4, the Hpymca2- ligands and N-heterocyclic auxiliary molecules bind to the central metal atoms in the chelating coordination modes to form the mononuclear structures. For compound 5, Ba ions and H2pymca- anions are self-assembled to construct a 3D network with a column-layered structure through coordination interactions. In addition, compounds 1?4 are further expanded into 3D and 2D supramolecular structures by hydrogen bonding, respectively. Compounds 1?5 indicated the characteristic fluorescence emissions of the H3pymca ligand, which were observed at 415 nm, 437 nm, 436 nm, 445 nm, and 475 nm, respectively.. KEYWORDS :Coordination compound, Pyridine-2-aldoxime, 2,6-Dihydoxypyrimidine-4-carboxylic acid, 2-(1H-pyrazol- 3-yl)pyridine, 4,4'-Bipyridine.

Resumen
Abstract Organic–inorganic perovskite crystals (C6H5C n H2n NH3)2PbCl4 (n = 1: PMA, n = 2: PEA, n = 3: PPA, and n = 4: PBA) were prepared, and their scintillation characteristics were evaluated. A broad emission peak originating from self-trapped excitons (STE) was observed from all of the crystals when excited by 310 nm light. Further, the broad emission was also clearly observed from PMA, PEA, and PBA under X-ray. Moreover, the scintillation light yields under α-ray were calculated to be 1460 (PEA), 439 (PPA), and 120 (PBA) photons/5.5 MeV-α, and the light yield of PEA was higher than that of a ZnO single crystal. In addition, all of the crystals showed a fast decay-time attributable to STE under X-ray.

The highly potent vasoconstrictor peptide endothelin (ET) is generated from an inactive precursor, big endothelin (bET), by endothelin-converting enzyme (ECE). ECE is a phosphoramidon-sensitive zinc metallopeptidase, which is closely related to neprilysin (neutral endopeptidase). It is possible that compounds which inhibit the formation of ET may be used as new drugs for the treatment of cardiovascular diseases. Such an approach requires a fast, simple and selective assay to measure ECE activity, allowing rapid screening of inhibitors. We describe here two new ECE substrates based on the concept of ‘intramolecularly quenched fluorescence’ which may fulfill this aim. One, S1 [Pya21-Nop22-bET-1(19–35)], is the (19–35) fragment of the natural peptide big-ET-1(1–38), which is modified by introducing the fluorescent amino acid, pyrenylalanine (Pya), in position 21 and a quencher, p-nitrophenylalanine (Nop), in position 22. The second substrate (S2) is a small peptide, Ac-Ser-Gly-Pya-Lys-Ala-Phe-Ala-Nop-Gly-Lys-NH2, from a biased substrate peptide library. The recombinant, hECE-1c, cleaved both Pya21-Nop22-bET-1(19–35) and the natural substrate selectively between residues 21 and 22, whereas cleavage occurred between alanine and phenylalanine in the small peptide. In both cases, this generated intense fluorescence emission. The synthesis and kinetic parameters of these substrates are described. These assays, which can be used directly on tissue homogenates, are the most sensitive and selective described to date for ECE, and are easily automated for a high-throughput screening of inhibitors.

Resumen
ABSTRACT Botulinum neurotoxin type A (BoNT/A), the most poisonous substance known to humans, is a potential bioterrorism agent. The light-chain protein induces a flaccid paralysis through cleavage of the 25-kDa synaptosome-associated protein (SNAP-25), involved in acetylcholine release at the neuromuscular junction. BoNT/A is widely used as a therapeutic agent and to reduce wrinkles. The toxin is used at very low doses, which have to be accurately quantified. With this aim, internally quenched fluorescent substrates containing the fluorophore/repressor pair pyrenylalanine (Pya)/4-nitrophenylalanine (Nop) were developed. Nop and Pya were, respectively, introduced at positions 197 and 200 of the cleavable fragment (amino acids 187 to 203) of SNAP-25 (with norleucine at position 202 [Nle202]), which is acetylated at its N terminus and amidated at its C terminus. Cleavage of this peptide occurred between positions 197 and 198, as in SNAP-25, and was easily quantified by the strong fluorescence emission of the metabolite. To increase the assay sensitivity, the peptide sequence of the previous substrate was lengthened to account for exosite binding to BoNT/A. We synthesized the peptide PL50 (SNAP-25-NH2 acetylated at positions 156 to 203 [Nop197, Pya200, Nle202]) and its analogue PL51, in which all methionines were replaced by nonoxidizable Nle. Consistent with a large increase in affinity for BoNT/A, PL50 and PL51 exhibit catalytic efficiencies of 2.6 × 106 M−1 s−1 and 8.85 × 106 M−1 s−1, respectively, and behave as the best fluorigenic substrates of BoNT/A reported to date. Under optimized assay conditions, they allow simple quantification of as little as 100 and 60 pg of BoNT/A, respectively, within 2 h with a classical fluorimeter. Calibration of the method against the mouse 50% lethal dose assay unequivocally validates the enzymatic assay.

Resumen
<p><strong>Abstract.</strong> In this paper, we propose a workflow for recreating places of cultural heritage in Virtual Reality (VR) using structure from motion (SfM) photogrammetry. The unique texture of heritage places makes them ideal for full photogrammetric capture. An optimized model is created from the photogrammetric data so that it is small enough to render in a real-time environment. The optimized model, combined with mesh maps (texture maps, normal maps, etc.) looks like the original high detail model. The capture of a whole space makes it possible to create a VR experience with six degrees of freedom (6DoF) that allows the user to explore the historic place. Creating these experiences can bring people to cultural heritage that is either endangered or too remote for some people to access. The workflow described in this paper will be demonstrated with the case study of Myin-pya-gu, an 11th century temple in Bagan, Myanmar.</p>

Resumen
Objective.During OMERACT 8, delegates selected patient global assessment (PGA) of disease as a domain to be evaluated in randomized controlled trials in psoriatic arthritis (PsA). This study assessed the reliability of the PGA, measured by means of 0–100 mm visual analog scale (VAS), and the additional utility of separate VAS scales for joints (PJA) and skin (PSA).Methods.In total, 319 consecutive patients with PsA (186 men, 133 women, mean age 51 ± 13 yrs) were enrolled. PGA, PJA, and PSA were administered at enrolment (W0) and after 1 week (W1). Detailed clinical data, including ACR joint count, Psoriasis Area and Severity Index (PASI), and Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale, were recorded.Results.Comparison of W0 and W1 scores showed no significant variations (intraclass correlation coefficients for PGA 0.87, PJA 0.86, PSA 0.78), demonstrating the reliability of the instrument. PGA scores were not influenced by patient anxiety or depression, but were dependent on PJA and PSA (p = 0.00001). PJA was dependent on the number of swollen and tender joints (p < 0.00001). PSA scores were influenced by the extent of skin psoriasis and by hand skin involvement (p = 0.00001). Joint and skin disease were found not to correlate in terms of disease activity as evidenced by the swollen joint count compared to PASI (r = 0.11) and by the PJA compared to PSA (r = 0.38).Conclusion.PGA assessed by means of VAS is a reliable tool related to joint and skin disease activity. Because joint and skin disease often diverge it is suggested that in some circumstances both PJA and PSA are also assessed.

Resumen
Two series of pyrrolidinium (PYA-n) and piperidinium (PPPA-n) bromides with incorporated antioxidant function were synthesized. Both have hydrocarbon chains with odd number of the carbon atoms (n) ranging between 7 and 15. Pig erythrocytes (RBC) were used to study antioxidant activity of these compounds. They were incorporated into RBC membranes in sublytic (micromolar) concentrations and RBC were then subjected to UV radiation. It was found that all the salts used protected erythrocyte membranes against oxidation of membrane lipids. This protection increased with hydrocarbon chain length. Such effect may be the result of an incorporation of particular compounds to different depths into the lipid phase of RBC membrane depending on their chain length. Such possibility was checked by studies on fluidity changes induced by the compounds studied in ghost membranes by fluorimetric measurements. The measurements showed that pyrrolidinium bromides were slightly more effective in a protection of erythrocytes than the corresponding piperidinium ones. The possible reason of such behaviour may be the difference in lipophilicity between piperidine and pyrrolidine rings

Resumen
Abstract Introduction: Evolution of diabetes is associated with multiple disorders including metabolic, cellular and blood disturbances leading to various vascular complications (micro-and macro-angiopathies). Increased circulating levels of platelet-leukocyte aggregates (PLA) have been described in several thrombotic diseases. Material and Methods: In this study, we have evaluated the circulating PLA in diabetic patients and we have investigated whether they may be linked to the vascular complications currently occurring during diabetes evolution. Using flow cytometry assay, we have quantified PLA percentages in 65 diabetics (37 males/28 females, 57 ± 11 years old) including 20 patients with type I and 45 with type II diabetes, and 25 healthy subjects (15 males/10 females, 44 ± 9 years old). Labelling approach using specific monoclonal antibodies permitted us to identify platelet-polymorphonuclear aggregates (PPA) and platelet-monocyte aggregates (PMA). Results: We have observed a significant increase of PPA and PMA levels in diabetics (22 ± 12% and 45 ± 18%, respectively) compared to control subjects (7 ± 4% and 19 ± 10%, respectively). However, both PPA and PMA values were similar in the two types of diabetes and they were not correlated to the disease duration. Circulating PPA and PMA percentages were significantly enhanced in diabetics with vascular lesions (n=37; PPA: 24 ± 13%; PMA: 50 ± 18%) than in diabetics without vascular lesions (n=28; PPA: 18 ± 8%; PMA: 38 ± 15%). Patients with PPA > 18% and /or PMA > 38% had a more important vascular thrombotic damage (OR: 6; 95%; IC: 1.6; 23). The increased PMA circulating percentage seems to be more specific for micro-retinopathy occurrence (OR: 19, 95% IC: 2.3; 154). The rare patients with elevated PMA percentage and without vascular lesions have a shorter duration of diabetes (7 ± 5 years) than patients presenting retinopathy lesions (16 ± 11 years). Conclusion: Together our findings established a relationship between increased circulating PLA rate, particularly that of PMA, and the incidence of microvascular complications in diabetic patients. In addition, they reinforce the concept that pro-inflammatory cells are involved in diabetic retinopathy pathogenesis.

Resumen
Three kinds of polymers, poly(p-aminobenzoic acid) (PPA), poly(m-aminobenzoic acid) (PMA), and poly(o-aminobenzoic acid) (POA), were prepared by oxidizingp-,m-, ando-aminobenzoic acid with (NH4)2S2O8in acidic solution, respectively. Poly(aminobenzoic acid)/TiO2nanocomposites PPA/TiO2, PMA/TiO2, and POA/TiO2were prepared by adsorption of PPA, PMA, and POA polymers on surface of TiO2nanocrystals ST01 and P25, respectively. The polymers and the poly(aminobenzoic acid)/TiO2nanocomposites were studied by FT-IR and UV-visible spectra, TG-DTA analysis, SEM observation, and measurements of isotherms and adsorption model of the polymers on TiO2nanocrystals. Furthermore, the visible photoelectrochemical and photocatalytic activities of these nanocomposites were investigated by the photocatalytic decomposition of water and methylene blue under visible irradiation. These nanocomposites have exhibited higher and different the abovementioned activities. This difference can be attributed to the influence of site of amino group in aminobenzoic acid.

Resumen
The role of glycochains of cell surface glycoproteins in the cell to collagen interaction was examined by studying the effect of lectins on the fibroblast-mediated collagen gel contraction. Lectins of Phaseolus vulgaris agglutinin (PHA), concanavalin A (ConA), lentil seed agglutinin (LCA), pea agglutinin (PSA), Ricinus communis agglutinin-60 (RCA), and wheat germ agglutinin (WGA) dose-dependently inhibited gel contraction, while lectins of mushroom agglutinin (ABA), peanut agglutinin (PNA), pokeweed mitogen (PWM), and soybean agglutinin (SBA) did not. Of these lectins, PHA seemed to be worthy of further analysis, because PHA, but not other lectins, inhibited spreading of fibroblasts on collagen fibrils but not on plastic or gelatin, suggesting that cell-surface glycoproteins responsive to the lectin are involved in the specific binding of fibroblasts to native collagen fibrils. The inhibitory effect of PHA-E4, an isolectin of PHA, was more intense than that of PHA-L4, another isolectin of PHA. The collagen gel contraction was also inhibited by tunicamycin and monensin in a concentration-dependent and reversible manner. These results strongly suggest that PHA-E4-reactive glycoproteins of the fibroblast surface play an important role in cell to collagen binding during the gel contraction. Five membrane proteins including beta 1 subunits of the integrin family were obtained by affinity chromatography with PHA-E4.

Resumen
Abstract BACKGROUND Factors associated with extent of tumor resection (EOR) and facial nerve outcomes include tumor size, anterior extension of the tumor, patient age, and surgical approach. OBJECTIVE To check whether preoperative measurement of the petromeatal (PMA), petroclival (PCA), and petrous-petrous (PPA) angles can help in predicting EOR, facial nerve outcome, and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) leak occurrence in patients undergoing vestibular schwannoma (VS) surgery via the translabyrinthine approach (TLA). METHODS A total of 75 patients were included in this retrospective study. Preoperative magnetic resonance imaging constructive interface in steady state and postcontrast T1-weighted sequences through the internal acoustic meatus were used to measure the PMA, PCA, and PPA. RESULTS There was a statistically significant association between tumor size and EOR; every additional cm in tumor size decreases the odds of gross-total (GTR)/near-total (NTR) resection by 524% (P = .0000355). After controlling for tumor size, the logistic models revealed a significant effect of the angles on EOR. For example, in a patient with a 2-cm VS, every additional degree in PMA, PCA, and PPA increases the odds of GTR/NTR by 2.3% (P = .0000571), 4.05% (P = .0000397), and 0.37% (P = .0000438), respectively. After adjusting for tumor size, sex, and age, the effect of PMA on the occurrence of an immediate postoperative facial nerve deficit and CSF leak indicated a trend towards significance (P = .0581 and P = .0568, respectively). CONCLUSION More obtuse petrous bone angles, namely PMA, PCA, and PPA, are good predictors of GTR or NTR in patients undergoing VS surgery via TLA and may be associated with better facial nerve outcomes and lower CSF leak occurrences.

Resumen
<p><strong>Abstract.</strong> Wall paintings are a unique case of decorated surfaces because of its direct relation to the supporting structure. This paper points out the importance of considering the conservation of wall paintings from its fourth-dimensionality&amp;ndash;surface (2D), depth (3D), and time (4D) &amp;ndash; and taking into account three different scales&amp;ndash;surface, building, and territory. The relationship between these three scales becomes significant with a case study of three temples: Loka-hteik-pan, Myin-pya-gu, and Kubyauk-nge, in the context of Old Bagan (Myanmar), where more than 2,500 temples with valuable wall paintings exist. To that end, firstly, different documentation techniques and management methods are reviewed for each of the scales proposed; secondly, a multi-scale documentation project, mostly unexplored within the context of wall paintings, is developed using BIM and GIS. Ultimately, the case study in Old Bagan proposes a comprehensive methodology to document and manage wall paintings that belong to a large group of heritage assets considering its four-dimensionality at multiple scales, addressing the interoperability at a basic level between: (1) surface and building, (2) building and territory, and (3) surface and territory. The objective is to create data exchange among different platforms and users, generating a collaborative instrument that evolves with the participation of different specialists.</p>

We hypothesized that left atrial hypertension results in pulmonary vasoconstriction, which is obscured by the expected passive decrease in pulmonary vascular resistance. The objectives of this study were to demonstrate and quantify the vasoconstrictive changes that occur in the pulmonary circulation during experimental left atrial hypertension, to determine the site of vasoconstriction, and to explore its mechanism. Sheep were instrumented for measurement of pulmonary arterial (Ppa), left atrial (Pla), and systemic arterial pressures (Psa) with a Foley balloon catheter to variably obstruct the mitral valve. Distal pulmonary arterial wedge pressure (Ppaw) was determined by using a 5-Fr Swan-Ganz catheter that was advanced until it wedged with the balloon deflated. Cardiac output (CO) was estimated by thermodilution; pulmonary vascular resistances (PVR) were calculated as mean (Ppa − Pla)/CO = total PVR, (Ppa − Ppaw)/CO = upstream PVR, and (Ppaw − Pla)/CO = downstream PVR. We studied 15 awake sheep at baseline and during increases in Pla of 10 and 20 cmH2O, with and without inhalation of ∼36 parts per million of nitric oxide. Left atrial hypertension resulted in elevation of Ppa. CO decreased only slightly at both levels of Pla elevation. Nitric oxide inhalation caused a significant decrease in PVR, which was greater as Pla increased. This vasodilator effect was most striking in downstream vessels. Experiments with phentolamine, atropine, and ibuprofen failed to reveal the mechanism of the reactive pulmonary vasoconstriction.
