Abstract Freshly harvested pumpkin seed was processed into flour namely; raw (RPSF), fermented (FPSF), germinated (GPSF) and roasted (ROPSF). Various pumpkin seed flour obtained were investigated for nutritional properties using standard methods. Protein was higher in the fermented flour (35.85%) while the roasted flour (46.31%) possessed the highest fat content. Results obtained from processed pumpkin seed flour further revealed that glutamic acid (10.45-13.02 g/100g) and linoleic acid (134.72-419.70 µg/ml) were the most abundant amino acid and fatty acid, respectively. This chapter addresses the so-called Industry 4.0 and some of its applications in industrial pumps, seeking to emphasize its characteristics and benefits. The introduction of 4.0 industry technologies in this traditional industry can cause profound changes in existing business models, providing greater customer satisfaction, either improving the effectiveness of equipment operation, contributing to better adjustment to working conditions, and also prolonging their life cycle. We are still in the early stages of these technologies and a lot is yet to evolve; however, there are already interesting examples developed by some pump manufacturers around the world, some of which will be mentioned in this chapter. It is subdivided into three main parts, namely brief historical panorama from the first industrial revolution to Industry 4.0, current applications in the industrial pump industry, and finally, future research directions and conclusion.

Liquidity Risk Management (LRM) in the banking industry happens at two levels: (1) the Central Bank (i.e. the regulator) and (2) the commercial banks. The term “liquidity” for the Central Bank means the monetary base consisting of the currency and the reserves in the banking system. These are the supply side of the interest rate market. The Central Bank being the only supplier of the same can target the interest rates by varying supply of monetary base and vice versa. There are several ways including auctioning and redeeming the government securities for squeezing and pumping liquidity into the system. However, before such recourse, the Central Bank needs an assessment of the liquidity requirement of the system and applies the forecasting techniques, which are mostly econometric by nature involving the time series data. This chapter explores this process.

Traditional irrigation systems do not take into consideration the conservation of water. Therefore, automating the plant watering systems to reduce water wastage and loss would be key to water conservation as a means of making use of water wisely and responsibly. In this chapter, a smart irrigation system that helps control the amount of water applied to crops is proposed and developed. The system controls the ON/OFF state of the water pumping motor based on the soil moisture sensor reading. Other sensors incorporated in the system are the water level sensor and light dependent resistor. The system leverages on the Arduino Uno microcontroller development board to collect input signals from the three sensors. The water pump operates depending on the value of the output signal received by the relay module. This technique of watering is feasible and very affordable and reduces human intervention in field watering.

This chapter illustrates how civic projects articulated national ambitions. The United States needed technologies to develop industry, transport American-made products, and protect the health and homes of urban citizens. But it was the way Americans chose to promote inventions, devices, and civic constructions that put national aspirations into public conversation. Although the Erie Canal was the most prominent public works project in the early nineteenth century, water systems undertaken in American cities between the 1810s and 1850s were the most tangible evidence of civic development. Celebrated as representations of America's place among the nations of the world, the magnitude of these projects made them tourist attractions. Lithographs, paintings, sculpture, and music depicted these achievements. Moreover, the brick-and-mortar constructions visually articulated empirical ambitions through their design and embellishment. Reservoirs, pumping stations, and fountains incorporated references to ancient empires and communicated Americans' conception of nationhood with an easily understood visual rhetoric.

The new ORC-VCC combined system is analyzed. It is a new system that can be operated in four modes depending on the type of energy. In addition, each installation mode has several configurations depending on the recovery points that will be integrated later, besides its adaptation to any energy source, where we can use biomass, solar, and heat rejects of industry at low temperatures (60–130°C). This system can produce under and above zero temperature. Although, due to its architecture, it is also characterized by many combination of selection fluid for the ORC and VCC cycles, it is not necessary to have the same working fluid as in the classic systems. In this study, three configurations are examined and studied in terms of energy efficiency mainly the performance of each configuration including net power, refrigeration capacity and overall efficiency, the thermal efficiency for ORC.

Resumen
As discussed in Chapter 4 and illustrated in Figure 4.1, close to 50% of the solar energy intercepted by the Earth is absorbed at the surface. Approximately half of this energy, 78 W m– 2, is used to evaporate water, mainly from the ocean. What this means is that evaporation of water accounts for as much as a third of the total solar energy absorbed by the Earth (atmosphere plus surface). The atmosphere has a limited ability to retain this water. Evaporation is balanced in close to real time by precipitation. A portion of this precipitation reaches the surface in regions elevated with respect to sea level— in mountainous locations, for example. It is endowed in this case with what we refer to as potential energy (Chapter 4). This potential energy can be stored (in lakes or dams, for instance), or it can be released, converted to kinetic energy (directed motion) as the water flows downhill on its return to the ocean. And along the way, energy can be captured and channeled to perform useful work. An early application involved exploiting the power of running water to turn a flat stone, one of two that constituted the apparatus used to grind grain, the other remaining stationary during the grinding process. The Domesday Book records that by AD 1086 as many as 5,624 water mills were operational in England south of the River Trent, deployed not just to grind grain but for a multitude of other tasks, including, but not confined to, sawing wood, crushing ore, and pumping the bellows of industrial furnaces (Derry and Williams 1960). Later, running water would provide the motive force for the textile industry that marked the beginning of the industrial age in North America, specifically in New England (Steinberg 1991; McElroy 2010). The most important contemporary application of water power involves the generation of electricity, the bulk of which is obtained by tapping the potential energy stored in high- altitude dams, a lesser fraction from the kinetic energy supplied by free- flowing streams (what is referred to as run- of- the- river sources).
