Resumen

Cet article propose une analyse des changements économiques chez les Innus d’Unamen Shipu (La Romaine) à partir des concepts de valeur, de mode de production et de personne tels que formulés par David Graeber et Terence Turner. Cette position théorique amène à reconsidérer le mode de production traditionnel innu en termes de production de personne. L’émergence des relations capitalistes chez les Innus a amené son lot de contradictions et d’adaptations dans l’univers innu. La continuité de la production de la personne innue dépendant de l’intégrité du territoire, l’auteur démontre comment a émergé un régime de valeur basé sur le territoire qui s’oppose au régime de la valeur-travail. L’article se termine sur une analyse des modalités d’échange des produits du territoire et montre comment les règles traditionnelles qui dictaient la circulation de ces produits se recomposent dans un contexte de généralisation des transactions monétaires.

Resumen

Au Mali, l’usage des pesticides sur la culture de coton constitue un réel problème de santé publique et pour l’environnement. Cette étude porte sur les risques potentiels correspondant à la « dangerosité » des matières actives présentes dans les pesticides distribués pour le coton. Nous avons recensé 174 pesticides homologués par le Comité sahélien des pesticides (CSP) destinés à la culture du coton, dont 106 insecticides et fongicides et 68 herbicides. Ils sont formulés à partir de 50 matières actives ; 10 sont interdites en Europe et se retrouvent dans 35 produits homologués (soit 20 % des produits disponibles). Un indice de risque de toxicité (IRT) sur la santé des utilisateurs a été calculé pour chacune des 50 matières actives tenant compte de leurs toxicités aiguë et chronique. Il montre que la pendiméthaline et la bifenthrine ont les IRT les plus élevés respectivement pour les herbicides et les insecticides. Un indicateur de contamination des sols et des eaux de surface et souterraine par ces matières actives a été calculé. Il montre qu’une matière active peut présenter un risque important pour la santé et avoir un fort niveau de toxicité pour l’environnement ou avoir un faible impact sur la santé mais présenter un risque élevé pour l’environnement. Une sensibilisation des différents acteurs sur les risques encourus par les pesticides permettrait de réduire leurs impacts sur la santé humaine et l’environnement.

Resumen

Algebras of distributions of binary isolating and semi-isolating formulas are derived objects for given theory and reflect binary formula relations between realizations of 1-types. These algebras are associated with the following natural classification questions: 1) for a given class of theories, determine which algebras correspond to the theories from this class and classify these algebras; 2) to classify theories from a given class depending on the algebras defined by these theories of isolating and semi-isolating formulas. Here the description of a finite algebra of binary isolating formulas unambiguously entails a description of the algebra of binary semi-isolating formulas, which makes it possible to track the behavior of all binary formula relations of a given theory. The paper describes algebras of binary formulae for root products. The Cayley tables are given for the obtained algebras. Based on these tables, theorems describing all algebras of binary formulae distributions for the root multiplication theory of regular polygons on an edge are formulated. It is shown that they are completely described by two algebras.

Resumen

Students’ ability to evaluate arguments is significant in democratic societies. Therefore, researchers argue that it is important to understand and facilitate students’ argument evaluation skills. Most research on students’ argument evaluation focuses on final products and outcomes instead of students’ decision-making processes. Thus, how students evaluate arguments constructed by others has not been fully clear to researchers and educators. This qualitative case study aimed to understand the process of students’ argument evaluation by exploring the affordance of a new data collection method. In addition to the written task, which is commonly used in the current research on argument evaluation, this study also employed stimulated recall interviews (SRIs) to access students’ inner awareness and thinking processes while they were engaged in the argument evaluation task. Data collected with SRIs were analyzed qualitatively, together with students’ written responses. Findings from this study reveal that students’ argument evaluation is a complex cognitive endeavor, and the actual process of argument evaluation is more sophisticated than what is demonstrated in students’ written responses. Based on these findings, this study suggests that only examining students’ written products might not be sufficient to achieve a comprehensive understanding of their argument evaluation skills. Considerations of using SRIs are also discussed. Les chercheurs soutiennent qu'il est donc important de comprendre et de faciliter les compétences des élèves en matière d'évaluation des arguments. La plupart des recherches sur l'évaluation des arguments par les élèves portent sur les produits et les résultats finaux plutôt que sur les processus décisionnels des élèves. Les chercheurs et les éducateurs n'ont donc pas une idée claire de la manière dont les élèves évaluent les arguments formulés par d'autres. Cette étude de cas qualitative visait à comprendre le processus d'évaluation des arguments par les élèves en explorant les possibilités d'une nouvelle méthode de collecte de données. En plus de la tâche écrite, qui est couramment utilisée dans la recherche actuelle sur l'évaluation des arguments, cette étude a également utilisé des entretiens de rappel stimulé pour accéder à la conscience intérieure et aux processus de pensée des élèves pendant qu'ils étaient engagés dans la tâche d'évaluation des arguments. Les données recueillies au moyen des entretiens de rappel stimulé ont été analysées de manière qualitative, ainsi que les réponses écrites des élèves. Les résultats de cette étude révèlent que l'évaluation des arguments par les élèves est un effort cognitif complexe, et que le processus réel d'évaluation des arguments est plus sophistiqué que ce qui est démontré dans les réponses écrites des élèves. Sur la base de ces résultats, cette étude suggère que le seul examen des textes écrits des élèves pourrait ne pas être suffisant pour obtenir une compréhension complète de leurs compétences en matière d'évaluation des arguments. In the same spirit, we also could present elementary and simple proofs of certain Ramanujan's modular equations on infinite products.

Resumen

The literature has an astonishingly large number of integral formulae involving a range of special functions. In this paper, by using three Beta function formulae, we aim to establish three integral formulas whose integrands are products of the generalized hypergeometric series p+1Fp and the integrands of the three Beta function formulae. Among the many particular instances for our formulae, several are stated clearly. Moreover, an intriguing inequality that emerges throughout the proving procedure is shown. It is worth noting that the three integral formulae shown here may be expanded further by using a variety of more generalized special functions than p+1Fp. Symmetry occurs naturally in the Beta and p+1Fp functions, which are two of the most important functions discussed in this study.

Resumen

Abstract Plant, animal, and mineral products travelled thousands of miles from Central and South Asia, the Mediterranean, and even Africa to become part of the Chinese pharmacopeia. These products were often used as drugs that were commonly bundled in formulas. While individual drugs were gradually incorporated as part of Chinese medicine, the formula preparations which regularly carried them remain relics of history. By first examining identification and linguistic information, and then looking closely at several formulas containing chebulic myrobalan (Terminalia chebula Retz.) from both Indic and Chinese sources, we can understand better how this drug and its corresponding medical information made its way from South Asia to East Asia, thereby becoming part of the Chinese medical system.

Resumen

Consequent upon growing awareness of consumers about the use of antibiotics and other synthetic chemicals which may pose health risks in chicken production, it has become imperative for poultry producers to find natural and less hazardous substitutes to replace these chemicals. Therefore, this study was designed to investigate the influence of garlic (Allium sativum), ginger (Zingiber officinale) and roselle (Hibiscus sabdarifa) supplements at 1% inclusion level in broiler chicken diets on performance and carcass characteristics. A total of 150, one day old Arbor acres broiler chicks were obtained and used for the experiment. Five identical diets were formulated such that diet 1 (Negative control) had no antioxidant supplementation while diets 2, 3, 4, and 5 (positive control) were each supplemented with 1% of dried Allium sativum (AS), Zingiber officinale (ZO), Hibiscus sabdarifa (HS), and 200mg/kg vitamin E.The chicks were randomly divided into fifteen groups of ten birds each in a Completely Randomized Design. Each group was randomly assigned to one of the replicates of the dietary treatments, to have a total of 30 chicks per treatment. Average daily feed intake (ADFI), average daily weight gain (ADWG), and feed conversion ratio (FCR) were measured. Apparent nutrient retention, haematological parameters, blood cholesterol, and carcass characteristics were also determined. The ADWG and FCR were not significantly affected by the supplements. However, the birds fed AS supplemented diet had significantly (p<0.05) higher feed intake, than those fed HS supplemented diet but similar to birds in the negative control. Dry matter retention was not significantly affected in any of the treatments. It was observed that birds fed the AS supplemented diet had significantly higher (p<0.05) crude protein, crude fibre, and ether extract retention than all other treatments. Dressed weight was significantly (p<0.05) higher (76.42%) in birds fed AS supplemented diets. In conclusion, the Allium sativum, Zingiber officinale, and Hibiscus sabdarifa supplements in the chicken diets did not adversely affect performance. However, it was noted that the Allium sativum supplemented diets elicited better performance in terms of nutrient retention and dressed weight of carcass. Suite à la sensibilisation croissante des consommateurs à l'utilisation d'antibiotiques et d'autres produits chimiques synthétiques qui peuvent présenter des risques pour la santé dans la production de poulet, il est devenu impératif pour les producteurs de volaille de trouver des substituts naturels et moins dangereux pour remplacer ces produits chimiques. Par conséquent, cette étude a été conçue pour étudier l'influence des suppléments d'ail (Allium sativum), de gingembre (Zingiber officinale) et de roselle (Hibiscus sabdarifa) à un niveau d'inclusion de 1% dans les régimes alimentaires pour poulets de chair sur les performances et les caractéristiques de la carcasse. Un total de 150 poussins de chair Arbor acres âgés d'un jour ont été obtenus et utilisés pour l'expérience. Cinq régimes identiques ont été formulés de telle sorte que le régime 1 (témoin négatif) n'avait pas de supplémentation en antioxydants tandis que les régimes 2, 3, 4 et 5 (témoin positif) étaient chacun supplémentés avec 1% d'Allium sativum (AS) séché, Zingiber officinale (ZO) , Hibiscus sabdarifa (HS) et 200 mg/kg de vitamine E. Les poussins ont été répartis au hasard en quinze groupes de dix oiseaux chacun dans un plan complètement randomisé. Chaque groupe a été assigné au hasard à l'une des répétitions des traitements diététiques, pour avoir un total de 30 poussins par traitement. La prise alimentaire quotidienne moyenne (PAQM), le gain de poids quotidien moyen (GPQM) et le ratio de conversion alimentaire (RCA) ont été mesurés. La rétention apparente des nutriments, les paramètres hématologiques, le cholestérol sanguin et les caractéristiques de la carcasse ont également été déterminés. Le PAQM et le RCAn'ont pas été significativement affectés par les suppléments. Cependant, les oiseaux nourris avec un régime supplémenté en AS avaient une prise alimentaire significativement (p<0,05) plus élevée que ceux nourris avec un régime supplémenté en HS mais similaire aux oiseaux du contrôle négatif. La rétention de matière sèche n'a été significativement affectée dans aucun des traitements. Il a été observé que les oiseaux nourris avec le régime supplémenté en AS avaient une rétention significativement plus élevée (p<0,05) de protéines brutes, de fibres brutes et d'extraits éthérés que tous les autres traitements. Le poids paré était significativement (p<0,05) plus élevé (76,42 %) chez les oiseaux nourris avec des régimes supplémentés en AS. En conclusion, les suppléments d'Allium sativum, de Zingiber officinale et d'Hibiscus sabdarifa dans l'alimentation des poulets n'ont pas affecté négativement les performances. Cependant, il a été noté que les régimes alimentaires complétés par Allium sativum induisaient de meilleures performances en termes de rétention des nutriments et de poids habillé de la carcasse.

SummaryHeat processing is essential for the preservation of milk‐based infant formulas. Heating, however, induces a number of chemical changes during which lysine in the milk proteins reacts with reducing sugars to form Maillard reaction products (MRPs) and also reacts with the dehydroalanine resulting from cystine degradation to form lysinoalanine (LAL). Both products have been reported to induce histological changes in the straight portion of the proximal tubule in the rat kidney. This pilot study was made to investigate the urinary excretion by healthy preterm babies of MRPs and LAL contained in infant formula and to determine their influence on kidney function. Twelve healthy male preterm babies were first fed for 10 days with pooled human milk and then for 5 days with each of two experimental premature infant formulas in a cross‐over design. The infant formulas were sterilized either by ultra‐high temperature (UHT) treatment or by a conventional retort process to give products with low and high levels of MRPs and LAL, respectively. In total, some 15.6% of the initial lysine had been modified in the in‐can‐sterilized product, compared to 6.2% in the UHT product. Urinary excretion of MRP lactulosyllysine ranged from 1.3 to 3.9% of the ingested amount, whereas that of LAL ranged from 6.2 to 9.3%. The higher level of MRPs and LAL in the formulas compared to breast milk had no influence on creatinine clearance or electrolyte excretion. There was no evidence of tubular damage as determined by the urinary excretion of four kidney‐derived enzymes. Feeding of formula, however, did result in a general increase in urinary microprotein levels. This did not seem to be a reflection of tubular impairment and was probably due to a transient and normal adaptation to the higher protein content of the formulas, although an effect of MRPs and LAL could not be ruled out.

Product modification can be used as an intervention method to prevent nutritional problems. The addition of ingredients that have certain nutrients can be used in the modification process, thereby increasing the product's superiority and affecting the quality of the resulting product. It is necessary to analyze the nutrient content to decide whether the nutrients in the product are convenient with the specified nutritional adequacy claim. The purpose of this study was formulating suction puding made from high protein ingredients and analyzing the nutrient content. This research was a quantitative study included in the experimental design to determine the nutritional content of moisture, ash, fat, protein, and carbohydrate content in the formulation of suction puding. Formulation was carried out in dietetic and culinary laboratory and Analysis of nutrient content was carried out at the Laboratory of Chemistry and Microbiology of Agricultural Products, Department of Agricultural Technology, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University. Data analysis in this study is bivariate using ANOVA test if the data is normally distributed and Duncan's further test, while data that is not normally distributed uses Kruskall-Wallis test and Mann-Withney further test. The results was formulation samples consisted of four different recipes of suction puding formulations (A, B, C and D) then the bivariate analysis in this study showed significant differences in water, fat, protein, and carbohydrate content (p<0.05), while in ash content there was no significant difference in the various formulations (p>0.05).

Background: Herpes simplex virus (HSV) is usually dormant and becomes apparent when body conditions decline. We investigated the anti-HSV activity of various natural and synthetic compounds for future clinical application. Methods: Mock- and HSV-infected Vero cells were treated for three days with various concentrations of samples. For short exposure, 100-fold concentrated virus were preincubated for 3 min with samples, diluted to normal multiplicity of infection (MOI), before the addition to the cells. Anti-HSV activity was evaluated by the chemotherapy index. Results: Alkaline extracts of the leaves of Sasa sp. (SE) and pine cone (PCE) showed higher anti-HSV activity than 20 Japanese traditional herb medicines (Kampo formulas), four popular polyphenols, and 119 chromone-related compounds. Exposure of HSV to SE or PCE for 3 min almost completely eliminated the infectivity of HSV, whereas much longer exposure time was required for Kakkonto, the most active Kampo formulae. Anti-HSV activity of PCE and Kakkonto could be detected only when they were dissolved by alkaline solution (pH 8.0), but not by neutral buffer (pH 7.4). Anti-HSV activity of SE and povidone iodine was stable if they were diluted with neutral buffer. Conclusions: The present study suggests the applicability of SE and PCE for treatment of oral HSV and possibly other viruses.

The recent shortage of pediatric formulas in the United States, caused by supply chain issues and contamination of formula products in 1 of the major manufacturing plants, led many families to seek an alternate formula for their children. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) allowed import of infant formulas from selected European and non-European countries. The European infant formulas differ from those produced in the United States regarding the primary source of the formula, age category, mixing instructions, labeling requirements, and formula composition in terms of macronutrients and micronutrients. Although most European infant formulas are nutritionally adequate, pediatricians and families need to be aware of the differences between the European and FDA-regulated formulas for their correct use and preparation for infants and young children. Supplementation with cow milk is recommended for children beyond infancy, and older infant formulas are not recommended for otherwise healthy growing children. However, pediatric formulas have been used to support the nutrition needs of children with feeding difficulties, especially those dependent on tube feeding and with certain medical conditions. The FDA does not regulate the production of pediatric formulas beyond infant formula, and significant variations exist in their composition. The pediatric formulas are available as polymeric (intact), hydrolyzed, elemental, or food-based blenderized formulas. The plant-based nonformula (milk) drinks are being used increasingly for children. These products might not be nutritionally complete and should be avoided in infants and children dependent on liquid nutrition.

En revanche, peu d’attention est accordée au processus d’apprentissage lui-même et à la manière dont les clients apprennent concrètement à utiliser les nouveaux produits. Cette recherche explore la dynamique de l’expérience d’apprentissage du client et son hétérogénéité, dans le cas de la première utilisation d’un produit, en s’appuyant sur le cercle d’apprentissage expérientiel de Kolb (1984). Sur la base d’une étude qualitative par observations filmées et entretiens, quatre trajectoires d’apprentissage du client sont identifiées, enrichissant ainsi ce modèle. Des recommandations sont formulées afin d’améliorer les stratégies des entreprises en matière de formation et d’assistance à l’usage, en fonction des trajectoires d’apprentissage des clients.

Aunque Michel Foucault no la propuso explícitamente, tal metódica se puede derivar de las observaciones en torno a temasparticulares sobre la conformación de los sujetos en las culturas antiguas, ante todo los vinculados con la noción de cuidado de sí, que formuló en sus últimos escritos. En este artículo, siguiendo tales observaciones se bosqueja tal metódica en un nivel general y se formulan argumentos sobre la validez de ésta a partir de una interpretación de las teorías aristotélicas de la causalidad comoteoría de la formación de las entidades como agentes o producto de la acción de agentes, que en ambos casos eran teorías ontológicas de carácter general.

Abstract The importance of constructing sub-national spatial price indexes (SPIs) has been acknowledged in the literature for over two decades. However, systematic attempts to compile sub-national SPIs on a regular basis have been hampered by the labour-intensive analyses required for processing traditional price data. In the case of household consumption expenditures, the increasing availability of big data may change the current approach for estimating sub-national SPIs by considering the use of weighted index formulae. The aim of this paper is twofold: firstly, to review previous literature on sub-national SPIs and secondly to estimate Italian consumer SPIs. To this aim we use scanner data referring to grocery products sold in a random sample of approximately 1,800 Italian outlets belonging to the most important retail chains and including information on prices, quantities and quality characteristics of products at barcode level. Various weighted index formulas are used for calculating consumer SPIs at detailed territorial level and at the lowest aggregation level. Our results show an interesting territorial variability of consumer prices of products sold in large-scale retail outlets across the Italian regions. Overall, the Southern regions appear to have price levels below the national average both for food and non-food products with some interesting exceptions.

Noodles are flour-based processed products that are generally served as an alternative food to carbohydrates dense products. Nowadays, carbohydrate-based processed products, such as the production of non-wheat noodles and the substitution of non-wheat carbohydrate sources, are developed, mainly through the use of local food commodities as alternatives. The purpose of this research was to investigate the physicochemical qualities of wheat noodles substituted for local food ingredients such as sorghum flour and green beans via sticking properties, cooking quality, proximate analysis, and sensory characteristics. Resistant starch and dietary fibre content were the functional features studied. Five formulas were established, each with a different amount of wheat flour, sorghum flour and mung bean flour used in the processing, namely N1 (50:20:30), N2 (40:30:30), N3 (30:40:30), N4 (20:50:30), and N5 (10:60:30). The peak viscosity of the five composite flour formulae was 1421-1778, the breakdown value was 454-535, and the ultimate viscosity was 1967-2490, with a cooking loss of 10.69-23.21%. According to proximate analysis, the formulated noodles provide complete nutritional content to meet nutritional adequacy, namely 375-381 kcal/100 g. It not only has a great nutritional value, but it also has strong physiological advantages for the body due to the high concentration of dietary fibre (9.6-9.8%) and resistant starch (14.93-15.01%). The taste, texture, and aroma of the sample formulae N2, N3, and N5 are comparable to wheat-based noodles. The five wheat noodles substituted by sorghum and mung bean flour formulations were potentially developed into functional products with comprehensive nutritional content, high dietary fibre, and resistant starch. Further research is needed to confirm its functional properties on health.

THE REGULATORY DEFICIENCIES OF POLISH REGULATION CONCERNING ADVERTISEMENT AND OTHER MARKETING TECHNIQUES RELATING TO PRODUCTS RELEVANT TO PROTECTION OF BREASTFEEDING, WITH SPECIAL REGARD TO THE INFANT FORMULAE. AN OUTLINE OF THE ISSUESThe aim of this article is to draw attention to the regulatory deficiencies of Polish regulation concerning advertisement and other marketing techniques related to products relevant to protection of breastfeeding, with special regard to infant formulas, and the evaluation of its effectiveness for breastfeeding protection. This regulation is non-transparent, heterogeneous and to a great extent unclear. It is also ineffective and insufficient for the protection of breastfeeding. It is much less rigorous than the standard established by the International Code of Marketing of Breast-Milk Substitutes i.e. WHO Code. The main conclusion is that irrespective of the need for improvement of the promotion of breastfeeding, including lactation education of medical staff and parents, legislative changes are necessary in the field of the marketing of food intended for infants and young children, feeding bottles and teats. The best solution would be the full implementation of the WHO Code including subsequent WHA resolutions.

Using FRP bars in the concrete structures under harsh environment produces extension of those service life and dropping of the cost of their lifecycle. This study investigated the influence of slab thickness, material of rebar, arrangement of reinforcement and mass’s dropped on the dynamic behavior of RC slabs by using laboratory experiments. Seven specimens 1550×1550 mm dimension with two thickness 120 and 150mm, single control specimen reinforced with steel bars and six specimens reinforced by CFRP bars were experimentally investigated under sequential dropping-weight ranged from 50 to 150kg, it was a rigid steel projectile, used to apply impacting load. 2.5m was the height of dropping. For estimated penetration depth, three empirical formulas have been used, ACE formulae was preferable predictor than other formulas. Different codes were used to calculation punching shear capacity and critical velocity of perforation and compared the experimental results with these codes. The experimental results showed that the shear properties of slabs have a significant effect in their general behavior. And preferable performance in FRP slabs than slabs reinforced with steel can be achieved which considering high strength and corrosion resistance of this material, which makes it a suitable choice for reinforcing materials.

In this note, we introduce a new type of warped products called as sequential warped products to cover a wider variety of exact solutions to Einstein?s field equation. First, we study the geometry of sequential warped products and obtain covariant derivatives, curvature tensor, Ricci curvature and scalar curvature formulas. Then some important consequences of these formulas are also stated. We provide characterizations of geodesics and two different types of conformal vector fields, namely, Killing vector fields and concircular vector fields on sequential warped product manifolds. Finally, we consider the geometry of two classes of sequential warped product space-time models which are sequential generalized Robertson-Walker space-times and sequential standard static space-times.

The article presents the results of a study of the effect of prescription components on the antioxidant activity of flour confectionery products. The main raw material used was light grain rye flour of the Saratov selection of the varieties Solnyshko and Pamyati Bambysheva. Vegetable powders from carrots and beets, as well as jam and candied carrots were used as vegetable components. Phenolic compounds contained in flour from light-grain rye and processed vegetables from carrots and beets have extensive biological functions and have a beneficial effect on living organisms, which makes their research relevant. The measurements are carried out on the analyzer of antioxidant activity TsvetYauza-01-AA in comparison of the received signal with the signal of the quercetin standard. In experimental samples of flour confectionery products based on wheat flour with vegetable processing products, the content of antioxidants increases 2.4 times, compared with the control sample. Whereas in experimental samples of flour confectionery products based on flour from light grain rye, the content of antioxidants increases 3-4 times, compared with the control sample from wheat flour. However, when comparing control samples in a sample based on flour from the grain of light grain rye variety Solnyshko, the content of antioxidants is 1.8 times higher, in contrast to the sample from wheat flour.

OBJECTIVE: To assess if the commercialization of infant formulas, baby bottles, bottle nipples, pacifiers and nipple protectors is performed in compliance with the Norma Brasileira de Comercialização de Alimentos para Lactentes e Crianças de Primeira Infância e de Produtos de Puericultura Correlatos (NBCAL – Brazilian Code of Marketing of Infant and Toddlers Food and Childcare-related products). The commercial promotion of these products is prohibited by the Law 11,265. METHOD: Cross-sectional study conducted in 2017 through a census of all pharmacies, supermarkets and department stores that sold products covered by NBCAL in the South Zone of Rio de Janeiro. Health professionals trained at NBCAL used structured electronic form for direct observation of establishments and for interviews with their managers. We created indicators to evaluate commercial practices and performed descriptive analyses. RESULTS: A total of 352 commercial establishments were evaluated: 240 pharmacies, 88 supermarkets and 24 department stores, of which 88% sold products whose promotion is prohibited by NBCAL. Illegal commercial promotions were found in 20.3% of the establishments that sold the products we investigated: 52 pharmacies (21.9%), four supermarkets (7.5%) and seven department stores (33.3%). The most frequent commercial promotion strategies were discounts (13.2%) and special exposures (9.3%). The products with the highest prevalence of infractions of NBCAL were infant formulas (16.0%). We interviewed 309 managers of commercial establishments; 50.8% reported unfamiliarity with the law. More than three-quarters of the managers reported having been visited at the establishments by commercial representatives of companies that produce infant formulas. CONCLUSION: More than a fifth of commercial establishments promoted infant formulas, baby bottles and nipples, although this practice has been banned in Brazil for thirty years. We think it is necessary to train those managers. Government agencies must monitor commercial establishments in order to inhibit strategies of persuasion and induction to sales of these products, ensuring mothers’ autonomy in the decision on the feeding of their children.

In this paper we derive change of scale formulas for conditional analytic Fourier-Feynman transforms and conditional convolution products of the functions which are the products of generalized cylinder functions and the functions in a Banach algebra which is the space of generalized Fourier transforms of the complex Borel measures on L2[0,T] using two simple formulas for conditional expectations with a drift on an analogue of Wiener space. Then we prove that the conditional transform of the conditional convolution product can be expressed by the product of the conditional transforms of each function. Finally we establish various changes of scale formulas for the conditional transforms and the conditional convolution products.

Red ginger (Zingiber officinale Roxb) is one of the medicinal plants that is effective as a medicine for nausea and vomiting. One of the techniques for developing traditional medicinal products is to make fast disintegrating tablets (FDT). This research aims to compare the effect of these various disintegrating materials on the physical properties of FDT. FDT red ginger extract is made using the direct compression method. The tablets obtained were physically evaluated including weight uniformity, hardness, friability, and disintegration time. The statistical results using the one-way ANOVA test show that between tablet formulas there are significant differences in tablet disintegration time with differences in the type of disintegrating agent. The data obtained shows that all formulas meet the physical properties test requirements for tablets. The tablet formula using crospovidone produces tablets with high hardness, low friability, and fast disintegration time

The growing market for gluten-free (GF) products has encouraged the development of several GF bakery products that aim to mimic the high standards of wheat bakery goods. The objective of this study was to investigate the impact of cactus mucilage powder (CMP) as new natural hydrocolloid on the characteristics of GF flat bread. Wheat flour was replaced by rice flour (RF) as a GF cereal. Different levels of Xanthan gum (XG), CMP or their combination between them were used to investigate their impact on physicochemical properties, alkaline water retention capacity (AWRC), staling rate (SR) and sensory characteristics of the resultant GF flat bread. Results showed that addition of XG or CMP, as natural hydrocolloids, resulted in significant increases in flat bread moisture (P ˂ 0.05). In addition, the crust color of GF flat bread was significantly lighter (L* value) than the control. Increases in AWRC were noticed as a result of XG and CMP addition. On the other hand, low concentrations of XG led to decrease in the staling rate while high concentrations resulted in slight increase in the staling rate. Addition of CMP into flat bread formulas resulted in increases in the staling rate of the investigated samples. Combination of XG with CMP led to reduction in the staling rate of flat bread comparing with CMP only. Furthermore, the ability of different formulae to retain alkaline water decreased as the storage period was increased. All gluten-free formulae containing hydrocolloids received significantly higher (P ˂ 0.05) sensory scores compared to the control.

Resumen

Owing to the change in lifestyle, busy consumers are increasingly purchasing convenient baked goods, such as crackers. Cereal based products particularly crackers are highly appreciated by consumers especially by children because of their crispy texture and characteristic delicious taste. In modern times, people have begun to pay more attention to issues related to healthy food consumption. Nowadays, consumers are more selective and preferring food, not only to taste, but also to take care that they contain more nutritious ingredients in terms of health and this has made it necessary to develop healthy snacks. A very important part of the currently produced crackers is manufactured using soft wheat flour. As is known, wheat flour contains gluten proteins, which hampers the use of food ingredients produced by the component in question by celiac patients. Today, food production for patient groups such as Celiac, Diabetes, Phenylketonuria, Beriberi and Pellagra are among the most important topics that the food industry and the scientists working in this field. Gluten-free cracker studies are not seen in the literature despite the fact that some studies have been carried out scientifically on the cracker which is consumed by being loved and having a long shelf life. Therefore, scientific studies on gluten-free crackers are thought to be useful and necessary. Based on this basic point, the main purpose of the study is; to develop new cracker formulas for celiac patients by using various flour samples (quinoa flour, buckwheat flour, rice flour, corn flour and semolina, almond flour, peanut flour and sesame, chickpea flour and lentil flour) in cracker production. As is known, the main factor affecting the product quality of baked goods is the flour. Because of flour is the main component of many bakery products including crackers. Another aim of the study is to examine the variations in product quality by substituting flour with other flour derivatives in the formula which is the main component of cracker quality.

Resumen

(1) Background: Nutrition for optimum growth and physical development is acquired by adequate infant feeding practices. (2) Methods: One hundred seventeen different brands of infant formulas (n = 41) and baby food products (n = 76) were selected from the Lebanese market and were analyzed for their nutritional content. (3) Results: Saturated fatty acid content was detected to be the highest in follow-up formulas (79.85 g/100 g) and milky cereals (75.38 g/100 g). Among all saturated fatty acids, palmitic acid (C16:0) accounted for the greatest proportion. Moreover, glucose and sucrose were the predominant added sugars in infant formulas, while sucrose was the main added sugar in baby food products. Our data showed that the majority of the products were non-compliant to the regulations and the manufacturers’ nutrition facts labels. Our results stated also that the contribution to the daily value for the saturated fatty acids, added sugars, and protein exceeded the daily recommended intake for most infant formulas and baby food products. (4) Conclusions: This requires careful evaluation from policymakers in order to improve the infant and young children feeding practices.

Resumen

The city of Bima is an area that produces quite a lot of bricks with favorable natural conditions, most of the area consists of rice fields and has a soil texture suitable for making bricks. Red brick is the most widely produced type of brick with a total of 20,000 bricks per month and its use has a negative impact on the environment because it produces carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions which pollute the air and contribute to the greenhouse effect which causes global warming, also as a result of burning bricks. . Based on this, researchers are trying to conduct research related to building materials in Bima City in the form of brick innovations with more environmentally friendly basic materials. The research was carried out using a true experiment and cross sectional approach using conventional bricks as a standard for quality comparison. Descriptive analysis was chosen as the method of analysis in this study. From the results of brick quality tests, all brick formulas met the requirements for water content (<15%), four of the six formulas met the compressive strength requirements based on SNI. The average compressive strength of the four formulas is >5 MPa and meets the Indonesian national brick breaking strength standard (SNI-0021-78). The most significant advantage seen from brick products without burning is the lower water content than conventional bricks and is more environmentally friendly because it uses natural materials and is obtained at competitive prices
