Texto completoArtificial Intelligence (AI) is rapidly transforming the world, redefining the relationship between technology and society. This thesis investigates the critical need for responsible and sustainable development, governance, and usage of AI and Generative AI (GAI). The study addresses the ethical risks, regulatory gaps, and challenges associated with AI systems while proposing actionable frameworks for fostering Responsible Artificial Intelligence (RAI) and Responsible Digital Innovation (RDI).The thesis begins with a comprehensive review of 27 global AI ethical declarations to identify dominant principles such as transparency, fairness, accountability, and sustainability. Despite their significance, these principles often lack the necessary tools for practical implementation. To address this gap, the second study in the research presents an integrative framework for RAI based on four dimensions: technical, AI for sustainability, legal, and responsible innovation management. The third part of the thesis focuses on RDI through a qualitative study of 18 interviews with managers from diverse sectors. Five key dimensions are identified: strategy, digital-specific challenges, organizational KPIs, end-user impact, and catalysts. These dimensions enable companies to adopt sustainable and responsible innovation practices while overcoming obstacles in implementation. The fourth study analyzes emerging risks from GAI, such as misinformation, disinformation, bias, privacy breaches, environmental concerns, and job displacement. Using a dataset of 858 incidents, this research employs binary logistic regression to examine the societal impact of these risks. The results highlight the urgent need for stronger regulatory frameworks, corporate digital responsibility, and ethical AI governance. Thus, this thesis provides critical contributions to the fields of RDI and RAI by evaluating ethical principles, proposing integrative frameworks, and identifying emerging risks. It emphasizes the importance of aligning AI governance with international standards to ensure that AI technologies serve humanity sustainably and equitably
Luze, Hubert de. "Ethnométhodologie morale et grammaires génératives des moeurs : enquête théorique, suivie d'une étude factuelle de quelques principes éthiques dans un champ relationnel anisotrope". Paris 7, 1995. http://www.theses.fr/1995PA070077.
Texto completoProblematic aspect of the thesis : what kind of relationship has ethnomethodology got with ethics? does ethnomethodology recommend any particular moral? could ethnomethodology possibly elaborate one kind of moral? could ethnomethodology be concerned with building a morals science up? the thesis is composed of five parts : 1- how does h. De luze consider ethnomethodology, which is a recent science based on american sociology and which has been introduced in the french university of paris vii by yves lecerf. What are the five aspects h. De luze has found particularly attractive. 2- how does h. De luze consider anthropology and why he has chosen to get into the paris vii main stream of ethnology as it is taught by robert jaulin. 3- first enquiry field : the ethnic group of moralists so as to elaborate a definition of ethics. Ater having discorded, so far as it was unsatisfactory for him, the theories that state we have spontaneously moral feelings, a clear sighted moral conscientiousness and that morality has a natural mode of existence, after examining a set of religions civil and philosophical values, h. De luze acknowledges he has been tempted by levy bruhl's theory which lead to replace theoretical research in ethics by a morals science. But this idea has never lived up. The ethnomethodology analysis shows that in its universalitic vocation can be found the buds of its failure. H. De luze proposes to adopt levy bruhl's perspects in a slightly more modest level : in a localist prospect, and suggest to set up morals generative grammars. 4- as a test sample, h. De luze has carried-out an ethnomethodologycal enquiry, based on the reports of conversations, in the homosexual tribe which has settled down in paris 4th area. From this study could be stated that the morals of the members is constantly wawering according to the intensity of thei r sexual desire, sexual pleasure being considered as having a cathartic value. 5- the access of desire and pleasure to holiness might open wide the doors to a freedom which could not be obtained than negatively for others. The ethnomethodology in paris vii offers a solution to this problem. The analysis of the main axioms shows they reveak the hard core of an indispensable moral aspect in social interactive activities. Ethenomethodology does not need to set the bases of new ethics. For h. De luze ethnomethodology fonctions as a hyper moral, as the moral of ethics. Indeed, to be ethnomothodologist is to be a moralist

Texto completoThus, the present investigation aims at examining the tools that can generate sufficiently persuasive resources in order to accomplish such a task. That's the reason why we relied on the analysis of the notion of responsibility as much in its political application as in its ethical rhetoric. According to Rousseau, mankind was able to rise above her strictly biological nature only by putting a stop to her drives. It is in the same vein that Kant will claim the autonomy of the subject who will be able to establish her moral responsibility. But the analysis of the concept we have undertaken has allowed us to claim that responsibility has a foundation that breaks with any moral voluntarism. Indeed, the dialectics between freedom and responsibility has brought about a more fertile conception of responsibility, at least ethically speaking. There is no doubt that one can be held legally responsible for something only when one accomplishes an action in full knowledge of the facts. This implies that the very person (subject) has a psychological and moral conscience, a free will, and a free volition. This is what the analysis of freedom has enabled to reaffirm here. But this kind of formal responsibility does not exhaust the richness of responsibilities that are incumbent upon us. Our responsibility does not spring exclusively from our freedom. On the contrary, it extends beyond it and contains it, on the political level, but above all on the ethical level. Such a conception of freedom rings or rather resonates as a call for an integral and collective responsibility. It resonates because this form of responsibility which consists in helping vulnerable beings who are condemned to perish without our intervention, has won its spurs with Hans Jonas, in his masterpiece: The Imperative of Responsibility. But, it is Emmanuel Levinas that we owe this conception of responsibility that we have towards other beings. An ethical responsibility concentrated on the irreducible concern for the Other "in the nakedness of his face" till the substitution. In a time when human relationships are being undone because they are being computerized and digitized through the dramatic development of new scientific and technological tools leading to the abrasion of empathy and sensitivity, it is crucial to reflect freshly upon a quasi-religious vision of progress that shrugs off the human being and the nature she uses. As activist for the preservation of humanly viable conditions, we have then attempted to replace the Human and her future in the centre of all concerns. Convinced that neither the absolute saint or the absolute devil exist, we aim at mobilizing all resources from the noble part of the Human Being in order to enable everyone to provide an appropriate answer to human distress and plays her role in expressing an immense and profound solidarity of souls…

Texto completoThis work tries to identify the issues encountered in the practice of psychiatry, and to propose reference points likely to clarify thinking from an ethical perspective. We initially examined institutional psycho-therapy, an open and humanistic movement of hospitals, and deliberated the topic in light of ethical medical concepts ; in return, we hoped to interpret ethical principles in the field of psychiatry. This approach placed the accent on the experience inherent in the illness, inter-subjectivity and the institutional context. Secondly, a study conducted via semi-directed discussions among 12 hospital psychiatrists revealed that collective practices are not oriented towards the accountability of patients. The third part dealt with two surveys of hospitalized people. A qualitative study explored the perception of seclusion by 30 patients : they predominantly show negative affects and an experience of being deprived of information. Then, a questionnaire survey showed the opinion of 169 patients on the procedure and effects of a hospital stay ; their rating was over-whelmingly favourable. The confrontation of opinions by psychiatrists and hospitalized patients, compared with the three fundamental principles, revealed the primacy of a benevolent dimension, to the exclusion at times of autonomy and non-maleficence. The ethical dimension of care must continue to be queried and re-asserted unceasingly. To this end, we will continue to discuss and interrogate the pertinence of a questioning tool of practices that would validate the patient’s viewpoints

Texto completoThe influence of Multinational oil corporations in contemporary society is becoming an increasingly central element of human rights and sustainable development problematic. There are now many MNOCs operating in both private and public sectors with remarkably diverse objectives and strategies. Thanks to large budgets and complex advanced technology, they are responsible for exploration, production, refining and crude oil distribution. In order to address the imbalance between industrial oil and lessdeveloped countries, the world commission on environment and development has early pointed up the term « sustainable development » which is « that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs ». As a result, the oil and gas sector has been among the leading industries in championing Corporate Social Responsibility a while ago. Oil companies attach greater importance to their economical, social and environmental impact and they also pay more and more attention to their image. Among other things, this phenomenon is demonstrated by the extraordinary growth in corporate codes of conduct and CSR initiatives such as Kofi Annan’s Global Compact. However, the effectiveness of these initiatives has been regularly questioned and there is a mounting evidence of a gap between the statements of principles and the real actor’s behaviour on the field. Finally, is a conciliation possible?

Texto completoWhile imaging technologies represent a real achievement for modern medicine, their introduction seems not to have been preceded by a sufficiently reflective process that would have anticipated the multiple challenges arising in current radiological practice. In focusing on the technical and scientific achievements, the actual radiation protection framework fails to consider sufficiently the essential contribution brought by social, ethical and human dimensions of disciplines such as bioethics. This failure means that today we find ourselves faced with major issues related to patient radiation protection, such as overuse of radiological examinations or medical personnel’s lack of information about the risks of radiation. Following an overview of ethical issues in diagnostic radiology affecting medical radiation protection of patients, a major issue in current practice – i.e., the inadequate justification of radiological examination prescriptions – will be analyzed using a principle-based approach. From this exercise, which aims to demonstrate how ethics can contribute concretely to radiation protection, a need arises for a new and comprehensive vision leading to solutions for controversies related to the current use of medical imaging. In a population health perspective, it is important to contribute to the reduction of the trivialization of the use of ionizing radiation in diagnostic medical practice by combining both bioethics and radiation protection. This research project aims to be a modest but necessary first step in the establishment of such an interdisciplinary dialogue.
Sen, Chen Tsanta Sarindra. "Les enjeux éthiques de l'advocacy des organisations humanitaires contre les violences sexuelles utilisées en tant qu'armes de guerre". Thesis, 2020. http://hdl.handle.net/1866/25698.
Texto completoThis study looks at the ethical issues of advocacy and rights-based approaches to emergency humanitarian work. Sexual violence has become an instrument of war, used for political and military purposes. Advocacy, which is usually a function of humanitarian human rights organizations, is becoming part of emergency humanitarian response. The use of advocacy in humanitarian settings exposes humanitarian missions to ethical tensions and dilemmas, particularly with regard to access to victims and the defense of their rights, the principle of humanity and the principle of neutrality. Advocacy also represents a danger to the apolitical image of humanitarian organizations and therefore undermines the confidence of belligerent states in conflicts. In view of these dangers of advocacy, the question arises as to what reasons might justify advocacy in humanitarian interventions in the case of politically motivated sexual violence. From a method described as an interdisciplinary and critical essay of legal theory, our argument and evidence will be structured to justify the hypothesis that silence in the face of non-respect for human dignity and the rights of victims is contrary to the universal values and spirit of humanity that are the raison d'être of humanitarian actions, that it also reinforces the state of lawlessness and impunity of perpetrators, but at the same time it accentuates the stigmatization of victims. In fact, the silence of humanitarian organizations that witness violations of fundamental rights perpetuates the culture of silence that usually accompanies acts of sexual violence and does not help to restore peace or prevent it from happening again in the future. The collection of data to support this hypothesis is based on a documentary research that is critically analyzed, reflexive and interdisciplinary. The oscillating nature of the essay, across disciplines, made it clear that morally, complicit silence is contrary to the spirit of humanitarianism. Advocacy is an interpretation of the principle of humanity that is the essence of humanitarian assistance. The care of victims by humanitarian organizations cannot therefore be limited to emergency humanitarian medicine. At the same time, the obligation of reserve and confidentiality is also contrary to the "first do not harm" principle. Caring for and supporting victims requires that humanitarian action be extended to the protection of human life in a holistic sense and also to the defense of victims' rights. From a legal perspective, the analysis of humanitarian paradigms demonstrates that the legal mechanisms put in place to protect people in times of conflict are largely dependent on humanitarian organizations and their roles as "gatekeepers" of international law. Advocacy has become a legal obligation of humanitarian organizations as a preventive measure against future violations of the rule of law, but also as a repressive measure against perpetrators.
