Resumen
Organic-inorganic hybrid materials with a high thermal stability and a low dielectric constant show great potential in the microelectronics industry. In this work, polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane-benzocyclobutenes (POSS-BCBs) were synthesized by a hydrosilylation reaction of octavinyloctasilasesquioxane (OVPOSS) and 4-(1,1-dimethyl-1-hydro)-silyl-benzocyclobutene with H2PtCl6 as a catalyst. The ring-opening reaction of BCB on POSS-BCBs resulted in POSS-BCB resins with a highly cross-linked network structure. This resin exhibited good thermal stability (T5% is 495°C in N2), low dielectric constants (<2.1 at 20 MHz) and low water absorption.

Resumen
Subset selection, i.e., to select a limited number of items optimizing some given objective function, is a fundamental problem with various applications such as unsupervised feature selection and sparse regression. By employing a multi-objective evolutionary algorithm (EA) with mutation only to optimize the given objective function and minimize the number of selected items simultaneously, the recently proposed POSS algorithm achieves state-of-the-art performance for subset selection. In this paper, we propose the PORSS algorithm by incorporating recombination, a characterizing feature of EAs, into POSS. We prove that PORSS can achieve the optimal polynomial-time approximation guarantee as POSS when the objective function is monotone, and can find an optimal solution efficiently in some cases whereas POSS cannot. Extensive experiments on unsupervised feature selection and sparse regression show the superiority of PORSS over POSS. Our analysis also theoretically discloses that recombination from diverse solutions can be more likely than mutation alone to generate various variations, thereby leading to better exploration; this may be of independent interest for understanding the influence of recombination.

In this study, two different types of hybrid porous organic polymers (POPs), polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane tetraphenylpyrazine (POSS-TPP) and tetraphenylethene (POSS-TPE), were successfully synthesized through the Friedel−Crafts polymerization of tetraphenylpyrazine (TPP) and tetraphenylethene (TPE), respectively, with octavinylsilsesquioxane (OVS) as node building blocks, in the presence of anhydrous FeCl3 as a catalyst and 1,2-dichloroethane at 60 °C. Based on N2 adsorption and thermogravimetric analyses, the resulting hybrid porous materials displayed high surface areas (270 m2/g for POSS-TPP and 741 m2/g for POSS-TPE) and outstanding thermal stabilities. Furthermore, as-prepared POSS-TPP exhibited a high carbon dioxide capacity (1.63 mmol/g at 298 K and 2.88 mmol/g at 273 K) with an excellent high adsorption capacity for iodine, reaching up to 363 mg/g, compared with the POSS-TPE (309 mg/g).

Solvent-free single crystals of 1,3,5,7,9,11,13,15-octaphenylpentacyclo[9.5.1.13,9.15,15.17,13]octasiloxane (abbreviated as octaphenyl-POSS), C48H40O12Si8, were obtained by dehydration/condensation of the tetrol Si4O4(Ph)4(OH)4. The powder pattern generated from the single-crystal data matches well with the experimentally measured powder pattern of commercial octaphenyl-POSS. The geometry of the centrosymmetric molecule in the crystal was compared with that in the gas phase, and had shorter Si—O bond lengths and a broader range of Si—O—Si bond angles. The average Si—O bond length [1.621 (3) Å], and Si—O—Si and O—Si—O bond angles [149 (5) and 109 (1)°, respectively] were within the same range measured previously for octaphenyl-POSS solvates.

Resumen
Os modos de interação de silsesquioxano poliédrico oligomérico (POSS) de gaiolas fechadas com distintos grupos funcionais foram avaliados na nanoestruturação de polipropileno isotático (iPP) via processamento reativo. Analisaram-se POSS com grupos substituintes isobutila, alila e vinila em concentrações de 0,5, 1, 2 e 5%m misturados a iPP fundido utilizando peróxido de dicumila (DCP) como iniciador. Na caracterização dos nanocompósitos foram utilizadas diversas técnicas. A morfologia foi avaliada através de cromatografia por exclusão de tamanho, espectroscopia de infravermelho com transformada de Fourier, microscopia de transmissão e difração de raios X. O comportamento viscoelástico dos materiais no estado fundido foi medido por reologia oscilatória e no estado sólido por análises dinâmico-mecânicas. As transições térmicas foram levantadas tanto por análises dinâmico-mecânicas como por calorimetria diferencial de varredura. Modificações morfológicas e viscoelásticas importantes foram observadas para os nanocompósitos em dependência do tipo e teor de POSS empregado. A adição do Octaisobutil-POSS (OI) sugere ação estabilizante radicalar e lubrificante para este POSS. Os efeitos da incorporação do Alilisobutil-POSS (AL) indicam que este atuou como agente plastificante em função da concentração. Com Octavinil-POSS (OV) os nanocompósitos parecem adquirir estrutura ramificada ou interligada em dependência da concentração. A ativação radicalar promovida pelo DCP mostrou-se fundamental na enxertia de alguns POSS. Assim, a forma e intensidade das interações entre nanocargas e matriz foram definidas pelos grupos funcionais e concentração dos POSS. Alterações observadas na morfologia, propriedades térmicas e viscoelásticas são resultantes dessas formas e graus de interação. Deste modo, foi possível propor mecanismos de interação e arranjos morfológicos entre iPP, DCP e POSS pela avaliação do conjunto de resultados obtidos.

The interaction modes of polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane (POSS) of closed cages with distinct functional groups were evaluated on isotactic polypropylene (iPP) nanostructuration via reactive processing. POSS were analyzed with isobutyl, allyl and vinyl substituent groups in concentrations of 0.5, 1, 2 and 5m% mixed with melting iPP using dicumil peroxide (DCP) as initializer. Several techniques were used to characterize the nanocomposites. The morphology was evaluated through size exclusion chromatography, Fourier transformed infrared spectroscopy, transmission electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction. The samples viscoelastic behavior in melting state was measured by oscillatory rheometry and in solid state by dynamic mechanical analysis. The thermal transitions were obtained through dynamic mechanical analysis and differential scanning calorimetry. Important morphology and viscoelastic modifications were observed in nanocomposites by dependency on the type and content of POSS used. The addition of OctaIsobutyl-POSS (OI) suggests lubricant and radicalar stabilizing action for this POSS. The AllylIsobutyl-POSS (AL) incorporation effects indicate that this one acted as plasticizing agent in function of concentration. With OctaVinyl-POSS (OV), the nanocomposites seem to acquire ramified or interlinked structure in dependency on concentration. The radicalar activation promoted by DCP was decisive in the grafting efficiency for some POSS. Therefore, the mode and the interaction intensity between nanoparticles and polymeric matrix were defined by functional groups and POSS concentration. Changes observed in morphology, thermal and viscoelastic properties as in solid state as in melting state are results of these modes and interaction degrees. It was possible to propose interaction mechanisms and morphology arrangements among iPP, DCP and POSS by evaluation of the obtained results as a whole.

To contribute to discussions involving the solving of urban environmental problems, the thesis assumes that certain approaches, by themselves suffice to situational analyzes, are powerless to deal with the structural nature of the lining. In the Brazilian case, and with regard to territorial public policies, such as urban planning and urban and regional planning,discussions generally restricted to the field of administrative law, predominantly instrumental in character, whose effects invariably limited to specific actions, topical and devoid of virtue to reach the root causes of urban issue. And more. They reappear with the contemporary environmental crisis. Another factor that affects decisively reflection and proposition urban instruments developed with a view to solving the urban problems is the application of the concept applied to management of public affairs. Originally conceived in the context of organizations, employment management, to migrate to public administration, reduces the understanding of the political dimension to the city's plan merely negotiated territorial management. This also proves insufficient, which will be addressed through a particularly significant that relates environmental and urban issues: the National Policy on Solid Waste.

Beginning with a survey of functional variation methods in classical physics, we derive the Hartree-Fock theory from canonical quantization. Following a development of density functional theory, many-body perturbation theory, and other techniques of computational condensed matter physics, we perform a systematic study of metal-polyhydride impurities in T8 and T12 polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane (POSS) cage molecules. Second-quantized methods motivate the derivations throughout.

Resumen
To date, the functionalization of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) with Polyhedral Oligomeric Silsesquioxanes (POSS) has become one of the most intensively explored methods to produce CNT-based nanostructure composite materials. In this study, a simple and effective synthesizing method has been reported to prepare a nanohybrid material consisting of multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNT) and aminopropylisobutyl-POSS. The approach is based on covalent bonding between CNTs and POSS molecules. Characterization of the as-received materials as well as the POSS-treated CNTs has been performed. Raman and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopic analyses verify the covalent grafting of POSS onto CNT walls through the formation of amide bonds. TEM studies reveal the attachment of relatively high amount of POSS to the CNT walls in POSS-treated product. TGA observations suggest that the presence of relatively high amount of POSS in MWCNT-POSS product is responsible for the thermal stability of CNTs at temperature range of RT–200 °C. The resulting nanohybrids with improved functionality and thermal stability would be good candidates as reinforcing materials for compatible polymer matrices.
