Resumen
Using survey data collected from a larger comparative survey project employing a multistage, stratified, random sampling design administered in 1994, this article analyzes the gender gap in political culture and participation in China. We found a persistent gender difference, with male respondents scoring significantly higher on media attention, political knowledge, interest, internal, and external efficacy, and non-electoral participation. In accounting for the gender gap, the article also attempts to validate the prevailing socialization, situational, and structural theories. In terms of socialization theory, we found that women respondents were more passive towards achievement, more accommodating in conflict situations, and had a higher preference for conflict mediation by traditional authority. These traits were also found to be negatively correlated with political culture and participation measures. There is also empirical support for structural explanations, where we found that (1) higher socio-economic groups were more politically engaged than those in the lower strata; (2) higher socio-economic status women are more politically engaged than those of lower socio-economic status women and men. For both socialization and structural theories, the gender gap persisted even when passivity and socio-economic status were controlled. Our tests of situation theory did not find that the level of domestic burden had a significant dampening effect on women political culture and participation, nor did we find that women in the child-bearing and rearing cohort had the widest gender gap in political culture and participation.

Resumen
As discussions of the "New World Order" intensify, Muslims around theworld are increasingly questioning the relevance of this phrase to their livesand to the future of the ummah. For many Muslims, the popularization of thisterm signals a need to reexamine those processes that shape the transmissionof the Islamic worldview from one generation to the next. The proposed"New World Order" seems much too reminiscent of the "Old World Order,"an economic and political order characterized by the economic subservienceand political impotency of most of the Muslim world. Muslim social scientistsare beginning to examine those processes and factors that might create thekind of "New World Order" that liberates rather than oppresses Muslims. One a m of inquiry that must be addressed is that of political socialization,as it is a phenomenon that occm within virtually every human culture. In essence, it is a process that involves the individual's acquisition of sociallyand culturally approved attitudes, values, beliefs, and behaviors as regards thepolitical world. As a social science subspecialty, it represents a convergencebetween political science and child development. Much of the literature dealingwith political socialization therefore focuses on the institutions and mechanismsthrough which children are politically socialized over time.Within the Muslim world, the study of political socialization is critical toacquiring an understanding of how Muslim children learn about the multidimensionalnature of the political world. How do they learn about politics? What kinds of political socialization models might be developed to reflecttheir experience? What are the relative effects of institutions like the familyand school on their political socialization? These are just a few of the questionsthat must be addressed within an approach to political socialization thatreflects the cultural integrity of Muslims. This paper will explore the potential impact of secular education on thepolitical socialization of Muslim children. It will begin with a discussion ofa variety of political socialization models that have been developed in theWest. Nationalism, as a central dimension of political socialization, will bediscussed with particular emphasis placed on how schools promote nationalismin children. The conflict between nationalistic and Islamic identities willbe explored as it is manifested in the secularized educational curricula ...

Resumen
In higher education, across countries, a large share of students choose to study economics. Although there is only a small difference in the share of female and male students in that field, there is robust empirical evidence of a gender gap in economic competencies, showing that male students in most cases outperform female students. There is a broad discussion about the differences in gender-specific socializations that cause this gender gap. However, no research exists on the long-term effects of this gender gap. This study uses longitudinal and representative data of N = 1397 Swiss students (824 female students) to analyse the gender-specific effects of economic competencies at the end of the upper secondary level on their aspiration and decision to study economics. The results show that economic knowledge and interest in economics have a substantially stronger effect on the choice of economics for female students. The aspiration to study strongly mediates these effects. We argue that these results can mainly be traced back to different interests and self-perceptions of skills and abilities in economics caused by gender-specific socialization. Possible implications of gender socialization and discrimination in economics for secondary and higher education and for the labour market are discussed.

Resumen
The Research Committee on Political Socialization and Education of the International Political Science Association celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2019. The RC was recognized by IPSA in 1979 following a solid and successful pioneering phase in the 1960s and ‘70s. The RC flourished with a full board during 40 years, more than fifty RCPSE panels at IPSA World Congresses, more than thirty RCPSE conferences in thirteen countries, more than 60 RCPSE sponsored books, and its RCPSE journal during 27 years. Research highlights include four international comparative political socialization studies and several political socialization panel studies. For more than thirty different political orientations and behaviours it has been investigated whether political socialization contributes to the explanation of the variance therein. Research focused on eight political socialisation agents and about thirty specific political socializers in these domains. Forty years of research has yielded a lot of insights and an auspicious theory development. Some topics deserve much more attention than they have received so far while new political, economic and social developments require a retest of what was discovered about political socialization in the past and a study of the many new ways, forms and contents of political socialization at the present time and in the future.

Resumen
The article delves into the challenges associated with the economic socialization of young students in contemporary Ukrainian society. It asserts that the shift towards a new paradigm of economic development, accompanied by profound changes in belief systems, orientations, and mentalities, necessitates early involvement of children in economic activities. Primary economic education is deemed a vital factor in economic socialization as it significantly influences a child's attitudes towards material and spiritual values, contributing to the overall formation of their personality. In the present stage of societal reforms and development, it is crucial to foster a level of economic knowledge that enables students to comprehend economic interrelationships not only in theory but also in practical applications. Recognizing the importance of cultivating an economic culture within individuals and society, the article emphasizes the need for humanization and humanitarianization of education to facilitate comprehensive personal development. A key aspect of this process is increasing the number of hours dedicated to teaching social subjects, including economics. The article underscores the significance of economic education amidst global socio-political and economic transformations and its relevance in enabling successful socialization of individuals within the new economic realities of Ukrainian society. As part of the broader socialization process and the formation of economic culture, researchers and practitioners emphasize the preparation of students for entrepreneurial activities. Three levels of preparation for entrepreneurial engagement are identified, encompassing worldview, advanced training in economic disciplines, and the development of personal entrepreneurial qualities, such as mobility and adaptability in dynamic market conditions. The article highlights the critical issue of preparing students for advanced professional education, which can be accomplished through specialized training programs such as "Small business accounting manager" and "Small business manager with the basics of information technologies" (two years of study). To facilitate effective learning, a combination of lectures, workshops, seminars, discussions, and the simulation of diverse economic situations is recommended.

Resumen
This paper investigates the origin of political trust in post-communist Central European and Soviet Union countries. By comparing two competing theories that explain political trust, institutionalism, and socialization theory, the paper tried to explore which theory shows a higher explanatory power in the transitional context. The research employs ordinary least squares (OLS) methodology, using country and time as dummies to control for unobserved heterogeneity. The main independent variable is constructed based on the ‘cohort effect,’ representing years of experience of communist rule. The study explores the role of socialization, institutionalism, and labor market experiences as determinants of political trust. Findings indicate that socialization under communism resisted democracy and market economy adoption, but economic and political situations played a more significant role in shaping political trust. Additionally, being employed in the state sector or self-employed during the transition period positively influenced political trust levels. This research sheds light on the intricate factors influencing political trust in the aftermath of significant institutional transformations in post-communist countries.

Resumen
Introduction. The socio-economic crisis, political, cultural, and value transformations caused by the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation of Ukraine have a powerful impact on the inner world of people, especially the younger generation and their economic socialization. Therefore, arises a need for young people capable of productive self-realization through self-knowledge, self-determination, which poses the problem of personal identity formation. Formation of a personal identity is the main goal of individuals' socialization. Aim. To determine the features of the mechanism of economic identity of high school students and, on this basis, build a psychological profila of a high school student in terms of economic identity. Methods: I. Zubiashvili's Institutions of Economic Socialization and its Mechanisms questionnaire, Who am I? (M. Kuna, T. McPartland), O. Nikonenko's Measurement of Economic and Psychological Personality Characteristics" (modified by I. Zubiashvili), Incomplete sentences, and Study of Ideas about an Economically Successful Person (Yu. Pachkovskyi). Results. Economic identity in early youth was characterized by contradictions and the presence of internal conflict. The contradiction was due to the fact that although students highly valued money, they still did not know how to use them properly and had bad ideas about the role of money in their personal and social life. The economic identity of high school students was characterized by the prevalence of economic values of economic success (business, capital, real estate, etc.) over psychological values (communication, satisfaction from owning the goods). Social Self was leading identity among high school students, which suggests their readiness to perform social roles, including economic ones. High school students had positive attitudes towards the country's economy, but they lacked interest in it because of the hostilities and socio-economic crisis in Ukraine. The economic ideas of girls had greater meaning than those of boys. Conclusions. The economic identity in early youth is characterized by contradictions and internal conflict. High school students have poorly developed personal characteristics related to economic identity, which are necessary for students' good understanding of economic processes. High school students tend to exaggerate difficulties in meeting their needs for financial security and stability.

Resumen
Education, as a social phenomenon, interacts with political, social, cultural and economic factors that shape society. Education plays an important role in integrating new generations into society by contributing to the cultural and political norms of the society. At this point, the political socialization function of education comes to the fore. Political socialization refers to the process of directing individuals to participation in political processes and adoption of the political culture of a society. This process involves the individual learning and internalizing the political values, beliefs, norms and behaviours of the society through his/her family, school, media and other social environments, starting from childhood. In the current study, within the context of the political socialization function of education, the book “Toplumbilim” written by Necmettin Sadak and used as one of the high school sociology textbooks of the Republican Era, was analyzed by focusing on the issues of family, women and religion. As a result of the analysis, it was determined that the book was used as a tool of ideological indoctrination.

In this article we analyze knowledge about economics conveyed via primary school textbooks published during the late Franco dictatorship and the years of transition to democracy in Spain. Starting from the premise that the process of political socialization and identity construction is based partly on economic factors, we examine the evolution of the content of economics in textbooks during and after the technocratic phase of planning and development. We elucidate ways in which economic culture is transmitted in schools, identifying certain values, principles and patterns of sociopolitical thought that this culture upholds and projects.

Resumen
In conditions when the main meaningful meaning of the choice of the Russian way forward is formed, the problem of the formation of economic theory, adequate to the modern stage of development of national and world economies, whose economic systems are in a state of deep transformation, is actualized more than ever. Economic science in the “new reality” is faced with such phenomena as the socialization of the economic life of modern society, the economization and financialization of politics and the politicization of the economy in the context of the globalization process, again highlighting the question of the place and directions of the development of political economy in economic science. Therefore, there is a serious question about the paradigm of modern economic theory, which would absorb the reflection of these new processes. For this reason, this material is a kind of attempt to integrate into the ongoing discussion about the place and development of political economy, about expanding the subject of economic theory [1; 2; 3; 4; 5; 6; 7; 8], offering an author’s methodological perspective on the principal issues of discussion. Participation in the discussion is also important from the point of view of the position of research teachers leading disciplines included in one capacity or another in economic theory. And this means - developing the criterion-value socio-economic worldview of future specialists, their methodological culture of research.

ABSTRACT The main aim of this paper is to demonstrate, through a review of China’s economic reforms, that the emergence of a large private sector and the increased sophistication and diversification of industry has required the continual reorganization of activities between the state and private sectors of the economy. We argue in this paper that the state began to play a major role in important industries and in big finance, as well as in the coordination and socialization of investment, such as economic policy (monetary and fiscal), foreign trade and, especially, the launch of new and higher forms of economic planning.

Resumen
This study explores the factors influencing Chinese women's involvement in politics in Peninsular Malaysia, using qualitative interviews with ten participants selected via purposive sampling. Key informants include female political representatives, male politicians, academics and Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) activists. The research applies intersectionality theory to analyze how internal and external agents of political socialization and various challenges shape women's political engagement and culture. Internal socialization agents encompass education, economic status, family background, religion, ethnicity, and gender. External agents include Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), political parties, and community networks. The study identifies multiple challenges that Chinese women face, such as gender competition, cronyism, low political interest, time management conflicts, racial sentiments, sexist remarks, male dominance, competition from political opponents, and ideological barriers. These agents and challenges are intertwined and impact Chinese women's political culture, which, in turn, influences their empowerment in political, economic, and social spheres. The intersectionality framework reveals how overlapping social identities and systemic barriers shape their political experiences and efforts towards empowerment. This study provides insights into the complex dynamics affecting Chinese women's political participation and highlights the need for comprehensive strategies to enhance their roles in politics and broader societal contexts.

This paper raises the question to what extent of East Germans support the political system in which they live. Have people who lived for decades under authoritarian conditions been able to develop a democratic culture? Or are their mind-sets and attitudes still influenced by the effects of GDR socialization with its socialist values and ideals? The paper argues that the peculiarities of the political culture in East Germany are less attributable to effects of GDR socialization than to current differences in the economic situation between East and West Germany.

SINCE THE 1950s, THERE HAS BEEN A GROWTH OF REGIONAL integration, not only in Europe, but in other continents too. It is based on a deep foundation: the ‘real socialization’ of production. This means that production is transformed from a process confined within narrow groups to an ever-widening social process, whereby the production or consumption of each individual depends to a growing extent on the production and consumption of all membersof the society, the limits of which are continuously expanding to mankind as a whole.

The issues of the youth’s political socialization are highly relevant in many respects. A principal one is the shortage of public-minded young professionals. There is an obvious need for formation of new elite and new leaders who are ready to replace the power of those who no longer meet today's demands of the society. The author considers the main components of the process of a person’s socialization. Namely, the roles of families, schools, universities and mass media in the formation of the modern young man attitude are explored.

The article analyzes the role of mass media in the process of political socialization of the Russian youth, taking place in the context of deep socio-economic and political transformations. The crucial impressionable years in the development of citizens’ political outlook are between the ages of fifteen and twenty-five. Young Russian citizens are just in the process of developing political habits and are easily influenced by different factors. Much of political information comes from the traditional and innovative mass media: newspapers, magazines, radio, television, and the Internet. Television helps to shape public opinion by providing news and analysis, its entertainment programming addresses important contemporary issues that are in the political arena. The growth of the Internet is especially significant. Political news aggregators and online bloggers present a broad range of political opinion, information, and analysis. The importance of an adequate assessment of the role of the traditional and innovative media in the political socialization of young people, in shaping the political subjectivity of young Russian citizens is obvious.

The American creed stresses political equality and political involvement, but substantial political inequality still persists from one generation to the next. Despite the importance of political inequality, not enough is known about the mechanisms that reproduce it. Political socialization research has focused on the transmission of political attitudes and culture across generations, but it has paid scant attention to how family transfers of economic resources, human capital, and social capital reproduce and perpetuate unequal patterns of political involvement and political authority. This article argues that more attention should be paid to measuring the persistence of political identity, political participation, civic engagement, and political influence networks over time and across generations. Special attention should be devoted to learning more about how the passage of family resources (economic resources, human capital, social capital, and cultural capital) from parents to children reproduces political inequality and reduces the opportunity for political mobility. Current data sources fall far short of what is needed to answer these questions, but linking the proposed American Opportunity Study with public voting records and with the American National Election Studies would provide a rich and powerful dataset for studying them.

Resumen
When streams of research are isolated from one another by methodological style and ideological character, the fact that they share similar explanatory principles is easily overlooked. Thus, since the 1950s many quantitative and ‘pluralistic’ American studies have argued that political leaders are more likely than the public to support procedural rules of the game. And since at least the 1930s, many qualitative and ‘left-wing’ European commentaries have argued that, in matters of socio-economic policy, members of parliaments become more moderate than their parties' activists. These important claims are embedded in two partial theories which have previously been treated as unrelated, the theories of institutional support and of deradicalization. And yet, different as these theories may be in many respects, they are driven by similar socialization principles which accompany movement from one role in the political system to another. Such socialization principles are a conservative force inculcating both institutional support in procedural rules of the game and deradicalization in orientations towards public policy.

Resumen
Changes in the political, social and economic spheres of modern Kazakhstan society dictate the need to increase attention to the socialization of preschool children in the family and preschool organizations. The integrity of the pedagogical process is understood as the integrity of the processes of socialization and individualization of the preschool child, preservation of the child's nature and its development in culture, enrichment of individual cultural experience in the process of inclusion in the socio-cultural experience, unity of development and education. The modern pedagogical process is designed as a system of conditions that allow each child to realize individual needs and at the same time interact with the children's community. The organization of children's activities initiates the creation of children's associations in which each child performs a favorite function and simultaneously cooperates with other children. In such an educational space, the processes of socialization and individualization leading to preschool age harmoniously complement each other.

Resumen
This study examined electricity supply prices for political socialization in education and its implications for functionality in university education in Cross River State, Nigeria. The study was a descriptive survey research. The population included 942 head of departments in the two public universities located in Cross River State, Nigeria. Stratified sampling technique was used to select 250 respondents from the universities studied. The instrument designated ‘Electricity Prices For Political Socialization Questionnaire (EPFPSQ)’ was designed to collect data for the study. The instrument was validated and had a reliability co-efficient of 0.853. The data collected were analyzed using frequency counts and percentage score. The study revealed that electricity supply prices, through management techniques of cost effectiveness, cost efficiency, access to and control of education moderately empowered the university system for political socialization. Electricity prices showed inadequate contributions with weak impact on benefit-related factors for political socialization. Government did not provide support in electricity price reduction though encouraged investment in electricity supply through Power Holding Company Ltd (PHCN). It was concluded that the perception of electricity supply prices could guarantee political socialization towards functionality in university education. Some of the recommendations made were: universities should give attention to electricity supply prices for political socialization. Government should see electricity supply prices and political socialization as a sine-qua-non for functionality in university education.

This article discusses the biopolitical studies of human behavior on the basis of genetic and environmental determination of its biosocial characteristics, examines the role of heredity and environmental conditions, with emphasis on the fact that human behavior is formed as a result of their combined influence, complicated interaction and interference of genes and environment. Particular attention is given to the process of political socialization of the individual and the phenomena of tolerance / intolerance, as a product of social interaction. It is emphasized that the political socialization of the person is a bivalent, bidirectional process of influence of the state and society to the individual in order to integrate him into the existing system of political relations, conscious perception by the individual political norms, values, attitudes. The author stresses the importance of biopolitical aspect of political socialization that involves relatively high autonomy of the individual in selecting political positions, their random substitution, as well as the ability to be guided by internal, sometimes unconscious preferences and beliefs. The conclusion is that the specificity of modern biopolitics is seen in concentrated interest in the problems of society, related both to the political, social and economic conditions of human existence, and with its biological nature.

As the crisis turns into long-term economic downturn, younger age-groups in Europe seem to be hit with higher levels of unemployment while the welfare state is steadily shrinking. The young have suddenly become a social group united by collective material interests, but does this translate into a sense of a collective political interest? The paper examines to what extent the dominant class-based social science of the post-war years can help us understand the politics of age-groups. The analysis highlights four changes since post-war years: the workplace has changed, impacting socialization; modern media has changed, impacting mobilization; the political landscape is fairly institutionalized, tempering the possibilities for new political concerns to find voice; and those who would define and articulate the political priorities of the young are leaving the Old Continent.

Resumen
Explanations for the roots and cures of the continuous divergence between East and West German political cultures tend to fall into two camps: socialization and situation. The former emphasizes the impact of socialization before and during the GDR era and ongoing (post-communist) legacies derived from Eastern Germans' previous experience, whereas the latter focuses primarily on economic difficulties after the unification that caused dissatisfaction among the population in the Eastern parts of Germany. The article argues that in order to explain the persistence and reinvigoration of an autonomous political culture during the last two decades in the new Länder, we need to synthesize the two approaches and to add a third aspect: the unification hypothesis. Although the communist period brought about a specific political culture in the GDR, the German unification process—based rather on transplantation than on adaptation—has caused it neither to diminish nor to wither away. On the contrary, the separate (post)-communist political culture was reaffirmed and reinstalled under novel circumstances.

Social and political polarization is an important source of conflict in many societies. Understanding its causes has become a priority of scholars across disciplines. We demonstrate that shifts in socialization strategies analogous to political polarization can arise as a locally beneficial response to both rising wealth inequality and economic decline. In many contexts, interaction with diverse out-groups confers benefits from innovation and exploration greater than those that arise from interacting exclusively with a homogeneous in-group. However, when the economic environment favors risk aversion, a strategy of seeking lower-risk in-group interactions can be important to maintaining individual solvency. Our model shows that under conditions of economic decline or increasing inequality, some members of the population benefit from adopting a risk-averse, in-group favoring strategy. Moreover, we show that such in-group polarization can spread rapidly to the whole population and persist even when the conditions that produced it have reversed.

The phenomenon of digital socialization of adolescents is the process and result of students mastering social experience through the use of rapidly updated computer and information devices and technologies that affect all spheres and areas of socio-cultural, economic, political, and professional human activity within the framework of school education. The peculiarities of the social and economic situation have determined the relevance and demand for research into the digital socialization of adolescents. The main characteristics, purpose and conditions of pedagogical support as a special type of pedagogical activity are to harmonize the individual psychological state of students. In accordance with their key needs, within clearly defined rules and boundaries that help the teenager independently and successfully integrate as a subject of digital socialization. The existing features of pedagogical support for adolescents in the educational process are a fundamentally significant factor in their digital socialization. The results of a pedagogical experiment on designing a school’s information and educational environment in the context of the new realities of the social situation in the digital world provide for the expansion and use of the pedagogical resources of an educational organization.

This study aims to find out, describe, and analyze the community's political participation in the Regional Head General Elections in Katingan Regency. The research method used is qualitative descriptive. The researcher wanted to describe the form of community political participation and the implementation of socialization in the general election of the Regional Head and Deputy Regional Head in Katingan District. Data sources are Katingan Regency KPU commissioner, Katingan Hilir PKK, and Community who have the right to vote in the Katingan Regency Election. Based on the results of the study it can be concluded that the community was very enthusiastic in participating in the campaign, but was less enthusiastic in giving voting rights. This condition is influenced by socio-economic conditions that cause transactional politics and still lack of public political awareness. Based on the results of this study, it was suggested that the Katingan Regency KPU together with the Katingan District Government continue to carry out socialization and political education for the community so that knowledge, political awareness, and political participation in the community increased. In addition, it should involve community leaders and religious leaders in the implementation of socialization and political education so that it is more effective and efficient, and it is expected that the active participation of the community to play an active role in the Katingan Regency election as a form of the five-year democratic party

AbstractSocial science debates about sources of generalized trust have prompted growing attention to how children develop faith in others. Much of the evidence, however, has come from relatively stable and prosperous societies. How might children’s trust differ in societies that have experienced rapid and destabilizing transitions, as in postcommunist states? Using new evidence on Russia from three waves of a survey between 2006 and 2014, the authors show that children’s trust is relatively low, reflecting low trust among parents, children’s sense of economic insecurity, and their doubts about the fairness of key institutions. But rising cohorts since the early 2000s display more trust than their parents and than their earlier counterparts. Thus old patterns of distrust do not necessarily persist intact.

The results showed that political participation in Dlingo Subdistrict which included social and economic status, situation, political affiliations of parents, political awareness, organizational experience, trust in the government through mass media socialization and informal discussions in general the value of participation went well because of the high enthusiasm of the residents there. However, factors that have a fairly high influence conclude that from the indicators that have been met, the indicators of political awareness, the situation of trust in the government, and the stimulant of participation through mass media socialization and informal discussions have a value that is more determinant than others. This can be seen in the enthusiasm of residents (engagement) in every socialization carried out by the KPU and through social media, then also data on the level of public trust in the leadership of regional heads which is also a strong foundation in participating in new regional head elections and towards changes in service quality.

Resumen
The general election is actually the entry point for the improvement of public welfare in various aspects, whether political, economic, social, cultural and so on. In order to make an impact elections positively correlated with the welfare of the public, in addition to the background of the prospective participants/contestants election also required the political understanding of the citizens as voters because of political literacy is one factor that plays a major role in the quality of elections in a country. In Amuntai City, Hulu Sungai Utara district, political knowledge citizens are generally relatively low where political terms not understood as it should be in addition to confusion relevance between elections and regional development. Political participation of citizens in general is still low, especially those who work in the informal sector and tend to avoid involvement in practical political activity. Although they participated in the elections, but they just do not care about the output of the election itself. Furthermore, the political interest of citizens were generally quite low because most of them assess prejudice against political activity although no doubt some of those who assess positively to the political world. To increase the political understanding of citizens in Amuntai City, suggested to the election organizers in Hulu Sungai Utara district, especially the Election Commission and the Election Supervisory Committee to conduct an intense political socialization to the community, especially in rural areas. Political socialization should be cooperating with the participation of local governments, organizations of society and universities in the area. Political parties in the region should also undertake political socialization as the embodiment of one of the functions of political parties, especially in the areas that became the basis of a mass political party concerned with promoting political ethics that typically become one of the political ideology of political parties.

Women constitute almost half of the worlds population but are politically marginalized and underrepresented in the third-world countries. The long-lived traditional structures as well as socio-economic factors adversely affected their mobility, socialization, political and electoral participation and representation in policy-making forums. Being low in effectiveness, they are unable to make any significant change in the patterns of sociopolitical development. In Pakistan, the traditional patriarchal approach and the growth of Islamic fundamentalism adversely affected their political emancipation and domesticated them. Although, women in Pakistan successfully struggled to overcome the said challenges and their representation in the parliament has significantly been increased but still need a lot to become an effective part of the policymaking process. The instant study investigates the challenges faced by the women of Pakistan to overcome their political marginalization and suggests the measures to develop a more inclusive and representative society.

Education is one of the main institutions for students’ development, while the latter is essential for the whole country’s political, social, cultural and economic development. Political development has its objective dimension, that is political regime, and it also has a subjective dimension which covers, inter alia, political socialization in universities. The latter could be an important tool for building democratic political attitude among students. This research is aimed at studying the factors affecting democratic political attitude by analyzing the mass media in 3 categories: newspaper, television and radio. It considers the behavior of media exposure on political issues of university students in the context of 5 variables: sex, age, field study, academic level, and birth place. The sample group for this study consists of the students from Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University, College of Innovation and Management. The total number of respondents in the group is 126. The multi-stage random sampling was followed by the questionnaire used as a tool for data collection.

Resumen
The article reveals the role of the institute of mass media in the processes of formation of political consciousness and socio-political guidelines of modern youth. The formation of political consciousness and behavior of modern youth takes place in the context of the growing mobilization component of the global network, that is, the «mediatization» and «Internetization» of social life. These processes are characterized, on the one hand, by the growing interdependence of the world community in all spheres of life, primarily political, economic, and cultural ones, and, on the other hand, by the formation of a global media structure of these relations, connecting individual societies into a single system. The rapidly changing space of the Internet determines the specific vector of the socialization process of Russian youth. The analysis showed that the processes of Internetization and spread of modern information and communication technologies contribute to a significant increase in the effectiveness of interaction with the youth segment and social transformation. Therefore, not only the process of studying the behavior of the young generation in the context of the development of network technologies becomes relevant, but also the development of relevant tools and mechanisms for conducting political and public discussions in the conditions of politics mediatization, as well as more active and widespread inclusion of Russian youth in state construction. Modern processes of informatization of society and education have exacerbated the problem of information security of the individual in the educational environment. Propaganda of extremism and terrorism in social networks, the increasing negative role of prohibited information on the Internet, manipulation of the consciousness and behavior of the younger generation, and the lack of censorship of a significant part of the information space remain a social issue. It is justified that media educational technologies aimed at increasing media literacy of young citizens contribute to the implementation of their socio-political subjectivity and initiative in the interests of the state and civil society. The state should develop productive mechanisms of public control over the formation of spiritual values that meet the national interests of the country, the education of patriotism and civil responsibility for its fate.

Resumen
Abstract This article argues that Disciplinary International Relations (DIR) does not only explain international affairs, but it also socializes and hegemonizes publics and professionals into an ideological worldview consistent with the interest of states that underwrite the world economic and security order based on hegemonic liberalism. Considerable emphasis is placed on tracing the continuities between the early theorization of IR in the United Kingdom and the United States, and the contemporary academic/foreign policy/security ‘complex’ dedicated to the maintenance of a hegemonic world order. The article demonstrates that the call for a greater theory–policy nexus in international affairs is redundant because leading American scholars double up as policy-makers, either directly or through other avenues such as consultancies. Some of the most prominent IR scholars, such as Michael Doyle, John Lewis Gaddis, Samuel Huntington, G. John Ikenberry, Stephen Krasner, Theodore H. Moran, Joseph Nye and Anne-Marie Slaughter, among others, have served in high-level positions in the United States foreign policy and security apparatus. The article also shows the ways in which in the early days of IR theorizing in the UK, scholars such as Lionel Curtis, Alfred Zimmern and Norman Angell doubled as staunch defenders of the British Empire, albeit in the language of liberal internationalism.

Resumen
The purpose of the article is to study possible risks and opportunities in the field of state digital policy. The primary task in this direction was to study the concepts of ―digitalization‖, ―digital policy‖, ―digital economy‖. The characteristics of risks in the field of digital policy are given. Digital policy is a multifaceted tool that can be used by the State to achieve various social, economic and political goals. In the era of rapid development of information technologies and worldwide digitalization, the topic of digital policy of the state is becoming particularly relevant. This policy area covers a wide range of issues, from electronic interaction with citizens to data protection. On the one hand, digitalization provides a wide range of opportunities: improving the accessibility and quality of public services, increasing transparency and management efficiency, stimulating economic growth and innovation. On the other hand, there is a possibility of cyber attacks, data leaks and the risk of increased government control over citizens. The following areas have been identified, which describe the risks in the field of digital policy: the impact of digitalization on the electorate, electronic and digital government, the impact of digitalization on political socialization and re-socialization, protest in the context of digitalization. An analysis of the state's digital policy in the context of these risks and opportunities allows for a deeper understanding of how digital technologies can be effectively used to maintain a balance between the effectiveness of public administration and the safety of citizens. The possibilities of digital policy are identified in the following areas: electronic and digital government, the impact of digitalization on the electorate, political socialization and protests.

Resumen
Abstract A long time after the 1989 regime change, teenagers’ representations of the communist past are entirely a matter of political socialization. In the absence of any direct experience with the former regime, their perspective on Communism is expected to develop exclusively in relation to school, family, mass media or other agents of socialization. This research note explores the Romanian teenagers’ representations of the communist past based on survey data collected on a sample of 5,861 students enrolled in 86 schools across the entire country in 2010. A form of ‘second-hand’ nostalgia for Communism is identified among many of the teenagers investigated, regarded as an outcome of socialization in relation to family and school. Positive representations of the communist past appear to be facilitated by a lower socio-economic status, lower education, and the absence of travelling abroad experiences.

The dynastic political elites are those individuals who are descendants of the major political party. In the case of Pakistan, it is the PPP and PML (N), both political parties PPP and PML (N) has increased its campaign-led behavior by citing the leadership charisma of the people, party identity and economic and educational reforms in party manifesto. Resumen
Informal practices are rather widespread in post-Yugoslav societies, representing a complex problem with significant social, economic and political implications. The study investigates the factors that determine or contribute to shaping young people’s benevolent attitude towards certain types of informality, by exploring the determinants of informality justification or permissiveness towards certain forms of informal practices. Firstly, justification of informal practices are observed as a reflection of youth political socialization, which imply their relation to the political system and democratic values. Secondly, this type of justification potentially stems from their rational evaluation of institutional performance by estimating the necessity of informality as a mechanism to navigate the perceived inefficiencies of formal institutions. By examining these dimensions, the aim is to detect the extent to which these two sets of factors contribute to young people’s justification of informality in the post-Yugoslav context.

Resumen
Social, economic and political injustice promotes violence among youth. Political parties involved in Nepali democratic upheavals resort to violence; this is where youth are portrayed as major actors in performing violent acts. Youths have always taken part in these political struggles. Political parties have used facts that relate to people suffering from various miseries as a means of manoeuvring and mobilizing youth to participate in armed struggles and uprisings. One would expect these violent episodes to have decreased as the country is now transitioning from armed conflict towards a sustainable peace, but instead post-war Nepal has been continuously facing challenges that youth are posing through their violent behaviours. Addressing issues of unemployment, a corrupt political culture, nepotism and inappropriate political socialization are factors which require urgent responses with political commitment to stop youth participation in political violence. One way to realize this would be to encourage youth engagement in positive peace-building endeavours in Nepal.

Resumen
Interest in politics is important for a host of political behaviors and beliefs. Yet little is known about where political interest comes from. Most studies exploring the source of political interest focus on parental influences, economic status, and opportunity. Here, we investigate an alternative source: genetic transmission. Using two twin samples, one drawn from Denmark and the other from USA, we find that there is a high degree of heritability in political interest. Furthermore, we show that interest in politics and political efficacy share the same underlying, latent genetic factor. These findings add to the growing body of literature that documents political behaviors and attitudes as not simply the result of socialization, but also as part of an individual's genetically informed disposition.
