Resumen
Social injustice and calls to activism take many forms, whether in environmental, medical, legal, political, or educational realms. In this article, I consider the role of activism in ethics institute initiatives. First, as a case study, I discuss an activist initiative for police reform led, in part, by the Kegley Institute of Ethics at California State University, Bakersfield. Specifically, I outline the formation of the Bakersfield Police Department—Community Collaborative (BPD-CC), created to review regional and national police policy and training recommendations and to solicit and formalize community-sourced recommendations for policing reform and building trust and greater partnership between the BPD and community. Second, I discuss outcomes and implications of this project and consider its significance for understanding activist roles available to the community engaged ethics institute more generally. In this discussion, I explore practical dimensions and ethical implications of activist approaches in the work of an ethics institute.

Resumen
This study aims to determine the effect of ethical leadership, code of ethics on police integrity mediated by job satisfaction in Bandar Lampung City Police. Police integrity is a crucial phenomenon, because this is the foundation to improve the performance of individuals and organizations as expected by the Indonesian National Police (POLRI). The number of samples in this study were 250 police officers from five different units in the structure of Bandar Lampung City Police. The sampling method used is purposive sampling and cluster sampling. Structural Equation Model Analysis (SEM) is also used to test the effect of ethical leadership, code of ethics and job satisfaction by placing job satisfaction as a mediating variable on police integrity. In accordance with SEM analysis. This study finds that the code of ethics has an influence on job satisfaction (r = 0.45; p <0.00), and ethical leadership has a significant effect on job satisfaction (r = 0.39; p <0.00). The code of ethics affects the integrity of the police (r = 0.299; p<0.00). Furthermore, ethical leadership has a significant influence on police integrity (r = 0.575; p <0.00). Therefore, it can be concluded that the code of ethics has a strong direct effect on job satisfaction. In addition, job satisfaction has a stronger direct effect (r = 0.24; p <0.05) on police integrity.

Resumen
This article examines which ethical features can be found in the police's more economically oriented management tactics, as well as the extent to which ethical considerations are factored into police decision-making processes. In this approach, the article builds on the author’s previous work, which focused on a police resource's risk assessment. The goal of this research is to answer the scientific question of whether or not harmful police trends could have been detected sooner. In this context, it's worth noting that the police force and its members are under a lot of moral and ethical criticism from a population that's becoming increasingly critical across borders. The author concludes that every police officer's moral compass can really provide a foundation for police activity, based on a literature study and a secondary quantitative content analysis. It is demonstrated that, in terms of duty ethics, ethical features are heavily reliant on role models. However, such role models are not always available. Supervisors, on the other hand, do not always live up to their responsibility as role models. Professional ethics are being implemented and strengthened in the training of young police recruits, which is positive. It is intended that ethical considerations would become more prevalent in the police force.

Resumen
In carrying out their duties and functions as law enforcement officers, the police must comply with applicable laws and regulations, one of which is the regulation governing professional ethics, namely the National Police Chief Regulation Number 14 of 2011 concerning the Police Professional Code of Ethics. In the police code of ethics, one of which states that every member of the police must "abstain from disgraceful actions and attitudes, and take the lead in every action to overcome the difficulties of the surrounding community". The National Police Professional Code of Ethics is based on the formulation of Article 1 number 5 of the Regulation of the National Police Chief No. 14 of 2011 concerning the Police Professional Code of Ethics, which are norms or rules that constitute a unified ethical or philosophical foundation relating to behavior and speech regarding mandatory matters. prohibited, appropriate or inappropriate by members of the National Police in carrying out the duties of authority and responsibility of the position. As a profession, it is necessary to prevent violations of the professional code of ethics, because the police is a job that has a high and prestigious social status. Violation of the police code of ethics is any act committed by a member of the police that is contrary to the professional code of ethics of the police. There are several factors that influence the occurrence of violations of the code of ethics by members of the National Police, ranging from decreased moral integrity, loss of independence, economic demands, lack of income, weak supervision, to non-compliance with the code of ethics of the legal profession that binds them.

Resumen
This article presents the relevance of values and steps for the formation of ethical principles for the future legal profession. The aim is focused on analysis of formation process of values for a lawyer and police by analyzing law and police study programs. The assessment scale of the public confidence in different law enforcement institutions (courts, the prosecutor's office, police, lawyers) shows that the society is watchful, indifferent and active evaluating the quality of law enforcement institutions as well as behavior of the officials. It means conceptual and consistent formation of values would ensure the efficiency of practical ethical model. Nine law and police study programs of higher schools in Lithuanian and four codes of professional ethics of law enforcement institutions were examined during the research. Also four lecturers were interviewed. The results of the research showed that in Lithuania the provisions of ethics are not taught in all higher schools preparing future lawyers and police officers. The provisions of professional ethics in different areas of lawyer's and police activities are clearly defined in codes of professional ethics as well as in recommendations applying these ethical provisions. However the pragmatic application of ethical provisions would be strengthened studying particular disciplines.

Resumen
The police are one of the most powerful and important forces for any country. The main task of the police is to install a sense of security in the ordinary citizens and to protect their life and property when they are in danger. Bangladeshi Police have a glorious past with tremendous achievement. Especially in our great liberation war in 1971, they played an important role in achieving our liberation. Eliminating terrorism & militancy and others several operation that leads with the risk of their life. But there are still a lot of accusations against the police force. Like- abusing of power, Misconducting with the people, Committing crossfire defying the high-court order, Wearing white dress when they move to detain criminals, Arresting without warrant, and many other including Bribery, Extortion, Trading Drug and Yaba, Playing partisan role, keeping Bad association, Filing case against deceased man, Charging sheet against the infant who has not been born yet, Enforcing disappearance, Suppressing the freedom of express, Violating Human rights, Doing anti-social activities such as rape, forcible extortion, drinking alcohol, etc. are the real scenario of Bangladesh Police. Policing ethics or related unethical behaviors, in particular, are shaped by both societal perceptions and organizational socialization of the police personnel on how authority should be exercised, as well as the latter's relationship with the socio-political and economic structures overtime. This paper proposes to explain the role of police as the main law enforcement agency in any democratic country. An Attempt has been made to bring different perspectives of ethics which comprises views of Aristotle, Machiavelli, Immanuel Kant, J S Mill and John Rawls. The paper focuses on police Ethics. Police ethics’ reflects the society and the regulations that shape the policing system. Discuss the results and analysis of the consequences of moral degradation caused by the Police. Explore the police brutality because of the lack of Ethics to highlight the public's attitude towards police. The ethical standards and the code of conduct Police practitioners should actually abide by is an ongoing debate.

Resumen
Throughout the twentieth century, efforts have been made by police agencies to achieve professional status. However, it remains problematic if police work can be conceptualized as being that of professionals. This paper argues that while the objections to calling the police a profession as well as the disjunctives between public perceptions and those of the police themselves are sometimes great, claims to professional status can be legitimate. Tables are developed to show how training can both identify tensions and provide ethical resolutions. Such training in ethics is viewed as a way to help police become professionals and minimize many of the serious errors that law enforcement agencies are currently under attack for allegedly committing and/or condoning.

Resumen
Corruption and unethical management is a legitimate global concern as it can have a direct and substantial impact on the longevity and the success of an organisation, and a country. As a result much attention has been given to unethical behavior and organisational ethical violations over the last decade. Recent events have indicated that ethics management is an organisational concern with mammoth implications for organisations. The aim of this study was to investigate the development of strategies for the promotion of ethics and the impact of unethical conduct on an organisation. A direct link exists between employee behaviour and the organisational environment. The desired ethical environment is negatively affected if the employees cannot distinguish between right and wrong and do not act ethically when confronted with ethical dilemmas. Proposed ethics strategies may also be impacted on by the unethical behaviour of the leadership of organisations, compliance with legislation and poorly managed ethics strategies. The main research problem in this study was to identify what strategies could be adopted to create an ethical culture within an organisation. To achieve this objective a model was developed, proposed and supported with literature and the research study. A research questionnaire was designed to obtain the relevant data that was distributed to previously identified respondents. The results indicated that the majority employees were of the view that the organisational environment and leadership was not ethical and that the majority of employees were not actively pursuing an ethical environment. Findings indicated that the majority of employees felt that contributing factors to achieve an ethical environment was present, but ethic strategies were ineffective and poorly managed. The proposed study model, when implemented successfully, would allow the organisation the effective application of ethic interventions.

Resumen
The study of what is ethically good and bad, as well as what is morally correct and wrong, is known as ethics, also known as moral philosophy. A moral value system or theory is commonly used to refer to any system or theory of moral values or principles. Individuals who lead ethically act in accordance with a set of principles and values that the majority recognizes as a sound foundation for the common good. Integrity, respect, trust, fairness, transparency, and honesty are among them. Integrity is a crucial determinant of trust and a crucial concept for an understanding of governance. Ethics and state leadership policies should be focused on eliminating corruption and establishing strong ethical standards, which will serve to strengthen the credibility and legitimacy of people participating in state decision-making while also protecting the public interest. This paper will analyze the role of personal ethics in leadership and how ethics helps people become more effective leaders. Understanding ethics, integrity, and motivation in order to act as a role model and build a plan of action for state leadership will be discussed, as well as the value of excellent leadership.

Resumen
Abstract This project focuses on the conflict in Indian administered Jammu and Kashmir (J&K). This conflict is characterised by the militarised occupation of the region and resistance for self- determination by indigenous populations. In 2019, there were over 500,000 military and police force stationed in the state of J&K and over the years the forces have become a permanent fixture of the day-to-day life of people in the region. The use of civilian infrastructure by the military apparatus to control the rhythms of everyday life has evolved to its current form as an integral aspect of the conflict itself. This paper is focused on two interrelated aspects i.e., the impact of militarisation, magnified by Covid-19 pandemic on the fieldwork itself and its relationship to the larger impact of militarisation on everyday life in Srinagar. The methodology is inspired by rhythmanalysis which focuses on space of interaction. The rhythmanalysis is in two parts, it explores the rhythms as viewed and investigated by the researcher as opposed to the rhythms of everyday life for research participants. The aim here is to contextualise the questions of ethics and positionality as a researcher, conducting fieldwork during covid 19, in a militarised conflict region. Key Words: Military; Public Space; Rhythmanalysis; Resistance, Critical Architecture

Mager, Franziska y Silvia Galandini. Research Ethics: A practical guide. Oxfam GB, noviembre de 2020. http://dx.doi.org/10.21201/2020.6416.

Resumen
Any research must follow ethical principles, particularly when it involves people as participants and is likely to impact them. This is standard practice in academic research and a legal requirement in medical trials, but also applies to research carried out by Oxfam. Oxfam’s work focuses on vulnerable populations, and takes place under difficult circumstances. When research takes place in such vulnerable and fragile contexts, high ethical standards need to be met and tailored to the specific characteristics of each situation. Oxfam welcomes the adaptation of this guideline by other NGOs, community organizations and researchers working in fragile contexts and with vulnerable communities. The guideline should be read together with other relevant Oxfam and Oxfam GB policies and protocols, including the guidelines on Writing Terms of Reference for Research, Integrating Gender in Research Planning and Doing Research with Enumerators. A flowchart summarizing the guideline is also available to download on this page.

Resumen
Ours is an age of pervasive political turbulence, and the scale of the challenge requires new thinking on politics as well as public ethics for our world. In Western countries, the specter of Islamophobia, alt-right populism, along with racialized violence has shaken public confidence in long-secure assumptions rooted in democracy, diversity, and citizenship. The tragic denouement of so many of the Arab uprisings together with the ascendance of apocalyptic extremists like Daesh and Boko Haram have caused an even greater sense of alarm in large parts of the Muslim-majority world. It is against this backdrop that M.A. Muqtedar Khan has written a book of breathtaking range and ethical beauty. The author explores the history and sociology of the Muslim world, both classic and contemporary. He does so, however, not merely to chronicle the phases of its development, but to explore just why the message of compassion, mercy, and ethical beauty so prominent in the Quran and Sunna of the Prophet came over time to be displaced by a narrow legalism that emphasized jurisprudence, punishment, and social control. In the modern era, Western Orientalists and Islamists alike have pushed the juridification and interpretive reification of Islamic ethical traditions even further. Each group has asserted that the essence of Islam lies in jurisprudence (fiqh), and both have tended to imagine this legal heritage on the model of Western positive law, according to which law is authorized, codified, and enforced by a leviathan state. “Reification of Shariah and equating of Islam and Shariah has a rather emaciating effect on Islam,” Khan rightly argues. It leads its proponents to overlook “the depth and heights of Islamic faith, mysticism, philosophy or even emotions such as divine love (Muhabba)” (13). As the sociologist of Islamic law, Sami Zubaida, has similarly observed, in all these developments one sees evidence, not of a traditionalist reassertion of Muslim values, but a “triumph of Western models” of religion and state (Zubaida 2003:135). To counteract these impoverishing trends, Khan presents a far-reaching analysis that “seeks to move away from the now failed vision of Islamic states without demanding radical secularization” (2). He does so by positioning himself squarely within the ethical and mystical legacy of the Qur’an and traditions of the Prophet. As the book’s title makes clear, the key to this effort of religious recovery is “the cosmology of Ihsan and the worldview of Al-Tasawwuf, the science of Islamic mysticism” (1-2). For Islamist activists whose models of Islam have more to do with contemporary identity politics than a deep reading of Islamic traditions, Khan’s foregrounding of Ihsan may seem unfamiliar or baffling. But one of the many achievements of this book is the skill with which it plumbs the depth of scripture, classical commentaries, and tasawwuf practices to recover and confirm the ethic that lies at their heart. “The Quran promises that God is with those who do beautiful things,” the author reminds us (Khan 2019:1). The concept of Ihsan appears 191 times in 175 verses in the Quran (110). The concept is given its richest elaboration, Khan explains, in the famous hadith of the Angel Gabriel. This tradition recounts that when Gabriel appeared before the Prophet he asked, “What is Ihsan?” Both Gabriel’s question and the Prophet’s response make clear that Ihsan is an ideal at the center of the Qur’an and Sunna of the Prophet, and that it enjoins “perfection, goodness, to better, to do beautiful things and to do righteous deeds” (3). It is this cosmological ethic that Khan argues must be restored and implemented “to develop a political philosophy … that emphasizes love over law” (2). In its expansive exploration of Islamic ethics and civilization, Khan’s Islam and Good Governance will remind some readers of the late Shahab Ahmed’s remarkable book, What is Islam? The Importance of Being Islamic (Ahmed 2016). Both are works of impressive range and spiritual depth. But whereas Ahmed stood in the humanities wing of Islamic studies, Khan is an intellectual polymath who moves easily across the Islamic sciences, social theory, and comparative politics. He brings the full weight of his effort to conclusion with policy recommendations for how “to combine Sufism with political theory” (6), and to do so in a way that recommends specific “Islamic principles that encourage good governance, and politics in pursuit of goodness” (8).
