Texto completoThis dissertation approaches the poetics of the multimedia artist Eduardo Kac, internationally known for his innovative and controversial works and for his performance as a professor, critic and researcher of contemporary artistic modalities that involve the use of new technologies, including some that were developed by himself, such as the holopoetry, the telepresence and biotelematic art and the transgenic art. We consider that the idea of creation in his works, mainly the relationship between this creation and a mystical conception of language, is based on concepts and techniques of the Jewish Kabbalah. By analyzing the transgenic art works that compose the Creation Trilogy: Genesis (1999), GFPBunny (2000) e The Eighth Day (2001), we intend to highlight the references and creative procedures that connect the ancient and traditional structure of knowledge (the Kabbalah) with the analysis of creation and its relationship with language in the kabbalistic tradition and contemporary art.

Texto completoAbstraction, fragmentation, and other ways of image or speech destruction have characterized the art of the second half of the 20th century. The absence of narrative or referential elements in the artworks of this period points to a condition of absolute emptiness of meaning, which, in turn, constitutes the expression or manifestation of the sacred. This investigation is aimed at establishing links between these radical artworks (o, is prefieres, between the radicalness of these artworks) and mystic experience. To that end, I have analyzed two important works of 20th century art, namely, “Metaphysical Boxes” by the Basque sculptor Jorge Oteiza and “Three Lessons of Darkness” by the Galician poet José Ángel Valente
García, Acosta Pablo. "Poética de la visibilidad del Mirouer Des Simples Ames de Marguer". Doctoral thesis, Universitat Pompeu Fabra, 2009. http://hdl.handle.net/10803/7448.
Texto completoIn this thesis we claim the recontextualization of the Mirouer des simples ames in its medieval context so that its images can be restored as far as perception, rhetoric and reception are concerned. By this work we place the text in contexts where the audience was no necessarily clerical or educated: we justify the textual visibility because of the didactic character of the device, and we take it as a category of historical analysis. We therefore reconstruct the visible aspects of the Mirouer and explain its poetics. In the first place, we decode the images through the philological analysis of the text and, in the second place, we compare the poretean work with other documents from that period (written and, mostly, visual ones). In short, we propose a hermeneutic of the mere written word through the verbal mechanisms that create the visualization of the image in the poretean work.

______________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACT
It is always a challenge to read a hermetic work searching for its connections with reality, or better saying, noticing it as a realistic work, especially when taking into account that we are dealing with Clarice Lispector, one of the most important authors in Brazilian Literature. Launched in 1964, Passion According to GH is a novel deeply analyzed by many critics of the author in different approaches although it always suggests new readings. This article intends to study this fourth Lispector’s book considering its high level of aesthetic maturity, trying to understand the mystical and poetical form it presents. The novel, through its form and content, aims to separate itself from reality. However, it is this same form, which also explains itself, that shows this reality, whose perception is less and less apprehensible in modern times.

Texto completoThe interpretation this thesis does of the work of Eliot sees in the biblical prophets not only a source of inspiration or the reference to certain quotations but an aesthetics, a style and a treatment of the subjects similar to that of the prophetical writings. What is meant to be stated is that the prophetic aesthetics is the one prevailing in the literary works of Eliot and that it influences its style and subjects. This aesthetics, following Tillich, is understood as the one which proclaims a change in society, a collective improvement which will come from the nearing between God and man. To study this, Eliot's poetry and theatre will be analysed, as one complements and strengthens the other, explaining the assertions which will be stated. Eliot's essays will also find their place in this study, because in them we can find explanations relevant to the view which will be asserted.
Silva, Fernando Gonçalves. "A condição humana em Daniel Faria: representação poética do pó da terra e da imago dei". Doctoral thesis, 2021. http://hdl.handle.net/10400.1/16722.
Texto completoThe main purpose of this doctoral dissertation is to research and discuss the representation of the human condition in the poetry of Daniel Faria, while recurring to concepts such as dust of the earth and imago dei. In order to do so, we shall analyse and compare that poetry against texts that belong to the Judaeo-Christian tradition – the Holy Bible –, given the fact that the biblical intertext appears as a privileged option within the Farian poetics. Other concepts, such as theopoetics, mystical poetry, as well as the relations between the Bible and literature, will also be discussed. Notwithstanding the influence of classical Greco-Roman tradition in some of his poems, we shall identify the influence of, and intertextual relations with, poets such as Fernando Pessoa, Herberto Hélder, Ruy Belo, Eugénio de Andrade, Luiza Neto Jorge, Sophia de Mello Breyner Andreesen, as well as with poets from the Portuguese-speaking world, such as Carlos Drummond de Andrade; apart from these, others will be referred to: St. John of the Cross and St. Teresa of the Child Jesus, both mystical poets, as well as the theologian and philosopher St. Augustine, since there is an explicit intertextuality between these authors of Christian spirituality and the poetry of Daniel Faria.
