The Italian business presence in Brazil has been characterizing, since years, the economic landscape of Brazil. More than 1300 Italian companies, from the biggest to the smallest one, are acting in Brazil, exploiting the overall potential of this country and contributing with the excellence they can bring. Noting the consistency of the Italian presence and wondering how those companies have entered such a complex country and, a recurring name has been GM Venture, which became the protagonist of this dissertation. The thesis in fact aims at studying how GM Venture Company has been able to create value for Italian SMEs, contributing to their success in Brazil during the last ten years. Therefore this analysis focuses firstly on the literature dealing with the key success factors for the internationalization of small-medium enterprises. The second part of the literature goes deep in the specific case of the Brazilian context, trying to understand the major problems that this particular environment poses to small-medium companies internationalizing here and some specific factors Italian companies should pay attention to. Given this introduction, the analysis centers on the core topic of this dissertation. In fact the investigation regarding the GM Venture case looks specifically at how this company has been able create value despite those problems and create a business model able to successfully support SMEs entering Brazil. The inquiry on the case and the conclusion reports how GM Venture, through its operations, has been able to respond to the Brazilian rtise, and positively contribute to the growth and value of the Italian economic reality in this country. Moreover looking at the literature findings, this specific case introduces some novelty in the emerged factors, such as a new way of conceiving the Network, as well as new factors or undervalued ones for success such as promptness in the response and trustworthiness, which are essential in the Brazilian economic environment.

Texto completoThe aim of the research project is the attempt to answer some basic questions about the identity of the Italian and French Communist parties, considered as complex and dynamic political subjects. The first step was to select two case studies, one in Italy and one in France, as places where to observe and deal with the most meaningful themes linked to the identity, the strategies and the political communist cultures. As far as Italy is concerned, I chose the so-called Triangolo Industriale. It represents a macro-area with economic and social common features and where the Pci played an important role, different from the other sub- cultural areas of Italy in the second post-war period.I realized that the Rhône-Alpes had the economic, social, geographical and anthropic features approaching it to the Triangolo Industriale, with which also as a geographical proximity.Going deeper into the social and the economic texture of the three most important cities – Grenoble, Lyon, Saint Étienne - I discovered that they have the same mixture of “ingredients” compared to Milan, Turin and Genua: well-rooted industrial vocation, heterogeneous society, a good balance among the political forces, local communist Federations able to mark the identity, the history and the cultural of their members and the electors. The research has as starting point the year 1946. Natural chronological caesura but overcome by the memories of the militants and political leaders, which date back until the previous period to the birth of the party. It is a long and complex process lasting until 1976 for Italy and 1978 for France. These dates are extremely representative for both communist parties because they constitute the apogee moment, before the beginning of the decline. Two events characterize this moment: the failed “sorpasso” in Italy and the electoral defeat in France. It is a crucial point implying a radical change also in our two micro-cosmos.The sources used in this research can be divided in three groups: the first group is represented by the statistic data about militants and political local structures. The second is represented by the official documents of the internal party debates, useful to reconstruct the political strategies pursued in every territory. The third and last source is the one that has struck me more for the infinite interpretative possibilities and for the passage from the quantitative to the qualitative level. They are the biographies written by the communist leaders at the moment of their adhesion to the party or when they attended the political schools of the party.STAR

Texto completoIn the Countries of the Western Europe, present weather changes have caused a growing attention to the use of water resources. In particular, in Italy the summer of 2017 – characterized by a prolonged drought – caused emergencies also in Regions who are traditionally rich in water. So, there is the necessity of an efficient water management through a correct model of Integrated Water Service (SII). The rational approach is to be applied both to the maintenance and development of the infrastructural asset useful for water supply, storage and distribution, for the wastewater disposal and purification, and to the management model for the optimization of public service supply. In both cases, the operational scheme prescribed by the National Authority (ARERA), through a tight and constant regulations, sees a very strong push to rationalize the operating principles. This research is part of this theme, outlining a multi-criteria model that allows the optimal selection of investments in water infrastructures within the Program of Interventions, with respect to a multi-subject and multi-interest operational scenario, therefore complex and not rarely conflictual (public interests versus entrepreneurial interests of the Utilities). The model proposes the application of the AHP within an innovative logical scheme also with respect to the current national legislation. In detail, the first two chapters of the Thesis outline the current management of the Integrated Water Service in Italy and in the main European countries. The third chapter describes the programming tools that the regulatory bodies have at their disposal to make the Service more efficient, as well as the tariff structure in force in Italy. Finally, the fourth and fifth chapters illustrate the innovative model proposed for the Program of Interventions and its application to a real case in Campania. The experiment allowed to permeate a complex and articulated procedure with the principles of the scientific-rational approach. The results can be traced back to some main points: 1. the model architecture explicits the recommendation of ARERA concerning the need to adopt evaluation techniques ratified by the scientific bibliography for the choice of intervention alternatives, in fact applies the AHP methodology; 2. the model esemplifies the process of selecting critical issues affecting the SII, starting from the set described by ARERA, leading it back to the set whole coherent with the ATO and then with the subset of the specific territory managed from the Utility that adopts the protocol; 3. the model accompanies the operators in the correct identification of the technical parameters representative of the status of the criticalities elicited, inducing them to the correct balance between the suggestions of the Authority and the extemporaneous solutions consistent with the informative and cognitive conditions of the professional reality 4. the model introduces, in addition to the evaluation criteria of ARERA, 3 other criteria (population affected by investments, cost of investment and maintenance of the proposed technical solutions) that enhance the social and economic profile of the projects, not adequately covered by the indicators recommended by the Authority; 5. the model simplifies the selection of technical solutions that have widespread positive effects on multiple levels of problems, allowing a quick synthesis of investments that have convenient scale effects in both costs and results; 6. the model allows the temporal ranking of winning alternatives, concileing the public goals contained in the strategic planning tools (PdA) and the private goals of financial optimization of the investment process. However, it should be noted that the model discounts the still relevant informative asymmetry between the Utility - often the only holder, although partial, of knowledge about assets, stocks and costs of production factors - and Regulator who instead, in the absence of a correct campaign to quantify the parameters of the SII, remains an inert observer with respect to budgeting and corporate planning problems. Finally, the result of temporal ranking performed on the real case is certainly satisfactory. From the tendential coincidence between the primary objectives of the public and of the private sector derives a positive perspective in the potential collaboration to the development of the sector in the South Italy areas. Texto completoThe main aim of the thesis was to investigate the effects of (i) breed (Bergamasca, Italian Merino and Sopravissana), (ii) slaughter age (40 vs. 60 days) and (iii) rearing season (winter vs. autumn) on growth, slaughter traits and meat quality, including fatty acid (FA) composition of “Agnello del Centro Italia” PGI light lambs produced under traditional transhumant sheep system adopted in Marche region (Central Italy). The lambs of the studied breeds showed similar growth performances, carcass traits and meat quality (i.e., physical and chemical characteristics), despite some differences in the investigated parameters that occurred (e.g. % crude protein, cooking loss, TBARS and ORAC). Breed significantly affected FA profile of meat and adipose tissue with Bergamasca showing less favourable meat FA profile (the lowest values of conjugated linoleic acid and the highest thrombogenic index). Higher slaughter age in Bergamasca lambs improved some carcass traits and physical characteristics of meat, it did not influence meat chemical composition or strongly affect meat FA profile, but it worsened chemical composition of adipose tissue. These results suggest 60 days as the optimal slaughter age for Bergamasca to produce slightly heavier carcasses without compromising the quality of lamb meat. Different rearing seasons influenced carcass traits (pluck) and meat quality (pH and drip loss after 6 days of meat storage). FA profile of both meat and adipose tissue was influenced by the rearing season with lambs reared in autumn having adipose tissue with better FA profile for human health. The research provides additional information filling the present gaps of knowledge regarding the quality of “Agnello del Centro Italia” light lambs produced under traditional systems in Marche region for local breeders and consumers.
Di, Stefano Lorenzo. "Il Pcf in Corsica e il Pci in Sardegna, 1920-1991 : insediamento territoriale, storia elettorale, identità insulare". Thesis, Corte, 2022. http://www.theses.fr/2022CORT0001.
Texto completoThe history of the Italian Communist Party (Pci) in Sardinia, from its foundation in 1921 to its dissolution in 1991, has not yet been written. The thesis aims to fill this gap, while adding a new aspect: its intertwining with the history of the French Communist Party (Pcf) in Corsica. The study, structured in three periods corresponding to the great historical ruptures (1920-1943; 1944-1962; 1963-1991), focuses on three aspects: territorial implantation, electoral history and island identity. The first part is characterized by the weakness of the two political organizations. The Resistance marked a turning point, especially for the Corsican Party, which was at its militant and electoral peak between 1945 and 1947, but which, from 1947 onwards, began its decline. The decline was due to the consequences of the Cold War, the emigration of the party’s cadres, the Party’s agenda on decolonization and particularly because of the war in Algeria. The erosion stabilized after 1958, with the participation of Corsican communists in the main revendication movements. The Italian Communist Party in Sardinia increased its influence following the choice of an autonomist political line in 1947. The Sardinian Communist Party, led by the regional secretary Velio Spano (1947-1957), then by Renzo Laconi (1957-1963), reached its membership peak in 1954.From the 1960s onwards, the two islands went through a phase characterized by urbanization, depopulation of the inland, a rapid demographic growth and uneven economic development, based on intensive agriculture and mass tourism in Corsica, and on the creation of industrial poles in the petrochemical sector in Sardinia. During this phase (1962-1991), the Corsican Communist Party maintained its influence through the municipal establishment in the red bastions of the island. From 1959 to 2001, there was a communist mayor in Sartène, while in Bastia, from 1968 to 2014, the communists occupied the seat of the first deputy mayor with a mayor belonging to the Radical party. At the same time in Sardinia, the Communist Party was at its electoral peak, during the period of Enrico Berlinguer’s national secretariat, between the mid-1970s and the mid-1980s. During the 1976 elections, the Sardinian Communist Party received 35.54% of the vote, while the Corsican Communist Party only scored 16.20% of the vote during the 1978 legislative elections. Moreover, the Sardinian communists participated in the regional executive committee from 1980 to 1982, and from 1984 to 1989. It should be noted, however, that while the autonomous region of Sardinia was established in 1948, the first special status for Corsica was only approved in 1982. In this sense, the common programme of the communists and socialists in 1972 marked a change of agenda within the French Communist Party. Félix Damette, a French theorist of the strategy of self-management socialism, encouraged the development in the island of the law that favors a democratic regional power. The Fédération de la Corse-du-Sud, born in 1976, was more receptive to change than the Fédération de la Haute-Corse, which remained more centralist. As regards island identity, from 1947 to 1991, the Sardinian Communist Party was committed to the implementing and updating the autonomist political agenda. In Corsica, the Party was more attentive to the island’s slogans and symbols used in political communication and, in the 1980s, the organization played an important role in the formalization of the regional language and culture, thanks to the commitment of Biancarelli, Bungelmi and Marcellesi

This study aims to develop a comparative analysis of the internationalization potential in Russia and Brazil for Italian SMEs operating in the fashion industry. After introducing the reader to the main areas covered, such as the context, methodology and literature review, a macroeconomic overview of the geographical areas comprised is provided, thus encompassing a specific study on the current status of Italian economy and demand for Italian goods. The study introduces the reader to the Italian fashion industry, its main features and current performance, already evidencing the quest for internationalization. The conclusions arising from the macroeconomic analyses are used as introduction to the overview of the Italian fashion industry, an industry that strongly represents the “Made in Italy” abroad. The analysis of the industry encompassing history, main features and current status will then suggest that internationalization is the most viable way for SMEs to recover from the turbulent years of the crisis. Among the vast set of geographical options that the SMEs may embrace internationalization, this study aims to provide two tangible market analyses: the Russian and the Brazilian fashion industry. The analysis, based on the framework of international responsiveness by Bartlet and Ghoshal (1989), presents the results of a set of researches and interviews conducted in Russia and Brazil, in the form of a comparative analysis of the two target markets. The analysis will evidence market-, cost-, competitive- and legislation drivers that justify the internationalization process in both markets. The results will lead to conclusion and recommendations that the two markets represent two very different opportunities for SMEs of Italian fashion industry.
Made in Italy' no exterior.

Texto completoThis work would try to test the correlation between innovation in firms and social capital, measured by classic indicators (like political participation, leisure and activities) and more corporate indicators (like agreements and collaborations). The analysis is carried out for Italy and UK and we use the Community Innovation Survey 4, the European survey on innovation and R&D in the firms, for the data on innovation and corporate social capital. We use the Multipurpose Survey 2000 for Italy and the Index of Deprivation for England like measures of classic social capital. We further try a comparison of the results between the two countries for the analysis on corporate social capital. This comparison is finally referred to more general issues like the two different productive and economic systems.

Texto completoThe present work aims to analyze and measure the quality of financial information for small and medium Italian enterprises through the application of earnings quality concepts and measures. A critical analysis of both the Italian research in “Economia Aziendale” and the Financial Accounting research focused on earnings quality with a quantitative approach highlights the usefulness of this kind of analysis about the earnings quality in Italian SMEs and the possibility to use earnings quality measures in the specific context. In particular, the evidence of the decision usefulness of SMEs financial statement by specific users and their need for truth and faithful financial information underline the possibility of measuring the quality of financial information in unlisted small and medium-sized companies. Moreover, the recent introduction of IFRS for SMEs arises interest for the quality of financial information in this peculiar context. Therefore, even small and medium-sized enterprises may take into consideration the expectations of specific users when drafting their financial statement. In SMEs, hence, the quality of earnings can be affected by peculiar policies aimed at meeting those expectations. In this sense, an analysis that sheds lights on earnings quality in SMEs and its main determinants can results useful. The concepts of financial information quality are considered both by the Italian “Economia Aziendale” and by the Financial Accounting research literature: the first one deepens such quality by analyzing the ways in which the income is calculated and the related policies and estimations; the second one defines earnings quality by means of several qualitative attributes that quantitatively measure earnings quality. Among these measures, some can be properly implemented also in the context of SMEs, since they consider specific accounting elements on which manipulations may occur. In order to achieve its aims, the study makes use of a large sample of over 64,000 Italian SMEs formed by accounting data and business features. The research can be divided into two main sections: the first one focuses on critical analysis of Italian “Economia Aziendale” and Financial Accounting research, the second one develops the empirical analysis that verifies the existence and the effects of the possible earnings quality determinants in Italian SMEs. In detail, the first chapter identifies the specific nature of the SMEs financial statements, defined as the peculiarities in terms of users and uses of SMEs financial statements. The second chapter discusses the concept of financial information quality, with reference both to the Italian scholars who studies the expendable income and financial statement policies, and to Financial Accounting research focusing on earnings quality and its attributes, with a specific attention to the growing stream of earnings quality in SMEs and unlisted companies. The third chapter constitutes the link between the first and the second part of the work, since it states the research questions and the related hypotheses, on the basis of the critical analysis. The fourth chapter explores the research methodology and identifies the sample of SMEs for the statistical analysis. The fifth chapter, after introducing the main measures of earnings quality, presents the regression model for the, outlining also the choices and the construction of each variables that form the model. Finally, the sixth and last chapter reports the results of the statistical analysis for the hypotheses test, considering also the broader consequences on the whole analysis, here conducted. With its results, the research provides empirical support to the literature that deals with users and uses of SMEs financial statement, giving evidence that lenders and banks but also tax authorities are the main users of their financial statements and their relevance can affect SMEs earnings quality. In addition, it contributes to the Financial Accounting literature about earnings quality in unlisted companies and SMEs: firstly, it confirms some of the determinants affecting the earnings quality of SMEs, and secondly, it enlarges the research by considering a new context, like Italy. Finally, the empirical results gives also insights concerning the choices by accounting setters and tax authorities in the context of SMEs. This research has also limitations, since it constitutes an exploratory work about earnings quality in SMEs, but it sheds light on future research paths in SMEs context and on earnings quality research. Actually, the results can be considered starting points for deepening the research on the effects of debt and tax rules on SMEs financial information, but also for developing cross-country studies about differences and similarities in the determinants that affect the earnings quality of SMEs.
