Resumen
AbstractGas Field Planning Tool (GFPT) was developed in 1990 by the Shell Group of Companies to fill the need for a tool for gas field planning and development using deterministic subsurface and surface models. Main initiators were Shell Canada, NAM (the Netherlands), Shell Expro (UK) and BSP (Shell Brunei), as these companies are major gas producers.Shell Companies now have several years experience with using the GFPT. Application ranges from simple single field models to corporate-level models with a large number of gas reservoirs and wells. Shell companies now using GFPT models are Shell Expro (UK), BSP (Brunei), SSB (Malaysia), Shell Canada, SPDC (Nigeria), SDA (Australia), Woodside (Australia), PDO (Oman), NAM (the Netherlands), New Business Development (e.g. Lunar Project) and in future also Shell Egypt.NAM currently has a GFPT model for the Anjum field in Friesland and for the Ten Arlo field in the north of Holland.GFPT is currently being migrated to an HFPT (Hydrocarbon Field Planning Tool), which can also be used for planning of condensate, oil and water developments and for control of hydrocarbon compositions in the network using PVT de-lumping at the well head (e.g. for LNG plants) and optimisation techniques (linear, non-linear or based on bean-back lists).

Resumen
Background and context: Cervical cancer is a largely preventable disease, yet kills about 260,000 women each year, mostly in low- and middle-income countries (LMIC). Cervical screening is a proven technique for reducing the incidence of cervical cancer, but only if screen-positive women receive timely, effective precancer treatment. As planning efforts to scale up cervical precancer treatment programs to reach more women are occurring in many high-burden countries, tools to determine what and how much equipment to procure and how to deploy it could help decision-makers make better use of scarce resources. Aim: To assist decision-makers, PATH developed the Cervical Precancer Treatment Planning Tool, with the aim of increasing access to lifesaving treatment while optimizing the use of scarce resources. This tool contains a scenario-based Excel model and Tableau data visualization mapping tool, which enable users to examine various strategies for deployment of ablative cervical precancer treatment equipment. The tool evaluates the number of women treated, the number of treatment devices needed, associated start-up costs, and cost of gas across five different scenarios. Strategy/Tactics: The model contains baseline data, gathered from a literature review and PATH fieldwork, for nine countries in sub-Saharan Africa, but it can be adapted to generate data for any LMIC. Users can also adjust baseline values to reflect the most current local data. The Tableau data visualization, which uses Uganda as an illustrative example, provides results at a district level. The tool's parameters, baseline inputs, and outputs were vetted with cervical precancer experts from eight African countries in 2017. Program/Policy process: The tool is available to country decision-makers who want to weigh the tradeoffs when trying to balance patient convenience and access with efficient utilization of equipment, skilled personnel, and financial resources. Results from the tool can inform national precancer treatment program strategies and decisions about device procurement and deployment. Outcomes: The country-level tool is publicly available ( https://sites.path.org/marketdynamics/ ) for decision-makers to make informed strategic decisions about their country's cervical precancer treatment programs. What was learned: The single-visit approach (SVA) for screening and treatment leads to treatment of the most women, but the financial costs for this scenario are on average more than 7 times greater than the next most costly scenario. In addition, treatment devices are underutilized in the SVA. While reducing the number of devices in each country reduces costs and improves equipment utilization, many women would require a second visit for treatment. Depending on the equipment deployment scenario (e.g., one treatment device per hospital), some women may need to travel long distances for this follow-up visit, potentially reducing treatment completion rates for those in need.

Resumen
US ports and container/intermodal terminals are critical links in the marine transportation system. Disruption at a port can have a crippling economic effect in the coastal zone as well as the rest of the nation. Port stakeholders have a vested interest in the long-term function and viability of ports, but no standardized measures for performance or resilience exist for ports. The goal of this research is to demonstrate the utility of a predictive port resilience assessment tool. The developed tool encompasses a microscopic traffic simulation model (VISSIM) based hybrid multimodal analyzes of port operations and provides a quantifiable assessment of resilience. The application of this tool is shown on six ports in the Southeast US. The waterside port simulation models were developed using vessel automatic identification system data and programed within a VISSIM simulation of landside operations. This hybrid modeling approach was used to visualize vessels and allow them to interact in both time and space with each other and landside infrastructure. Local and regional resilience was quantified through the analysis of time-dependent resilience plots and used as a performance measure in this study. The utility of the predictive port resilience assessment was demonstrated in response to Hurricane Matthew (2016). However, the novel procedure described herein can be applied to any port hazard. This research grows the understanding of the regional consequences of hurricane events and enhances the knowledge in the development of a stakeholder-focused tool to assess resilience.

Resumen
Saab has a product, Remote Tower, which allows air traffic controllers to supervise and control an airport remotely. Today an air traffic controller can operate on one airport at the time and switch between airports. The next phase of this system is to allow the air traffic controller to simultaneously control multiple airports, i.e. going from controlling airports in sequence to controlling airports in parallel. The airports are connected to and controlled from one single airport control center. This leads to a planning problem, both in long term and short term, for staffing this airport control center to maintain the capacity of the connected airports. This thesis will present the process of the development of a tool allowing a user to plan the schedule the staffing of a remote tower center. By utilizing this tool the impact of different restrictions affecting the planning will be evaluated and presented in the results.

Resumen
This work concentrates on the newly growing science of managing tooling in conventional manufacturing. Various Tool Management (TM) problems and the approaches suggested by other researchers to solve these problems are given. This work establishes the basic structure of TM applicable to a conventional manufacturing. Systems Analysis and Design Methodology (SSADM) is used to study the information needs of a typical TM System. It is stressed that the majority of TM problems are due to unavailability of correct information. Success of any TM system depends upon having a good Information System. This work focuses on the tool planning problems in batch manufacturing. The causes of tool planning problems are discussed. The research aims to develop a generic methodology for planning the tools. The information required to carry out the primary functions of any Tool Planning System (TPS) is identified. The fundamental characteristics of different tools from the planning perspective are studied in detail. The principles on which a generic TPS could be designed are laid out. The mechanism of a Tool Planning System is developed. The TPS model is implemented using Foxpro, a DBMS. This model illustrates the concepts of planning tools with the information that can be obtained from other functions of manufacturing. The effectiveness of the developed TPS model is investigated using simulation. The impact of the TPS on the performance of a typical Job Shop Environment is studied and compared with other models with traditional stock control approaches. A suitable statistical method is used for analysing and comparing the simulation results. The advantages and the limitations of the TPS are discussed. Some of the potential benefits include, very low tool shortages, minimum number of purchase requirements and better estimation of tool inventory levels. Furthermore, the TPS acts as a firm guideline for planning the tools in time buckets.

The research attempted to model the trip generation and the subsequent modal splits resulting thereof. The sketch planning tool to be developed attempted to predict within reasonable accuracy limits, the travel trends and hence the transport modes used for the undertaking of these trips. To gain an in depth understanding of the task, the "status quo" mobility conditions for Windhoek had to be well understood. Only once when the existing trends are fully understood, can one begin to derive a model that is able to model, the expressed mobility trends.

The Automated Reconnaissance and Surveillance (R&S) Planning Tool is a prototype of the Army's proposed Common Ground Station, and serves as a Intelligence interface to NPSNET. This system incorporates Intelligence Preparation of the Battlefield (IPB) and intelligence asset modeling in order to create realistic intelligence collection. IPB is the analysis of the affects of the terrain, weather, and enemy doctrine on the friendly situation. Intelligence System Modeling is performed for Mounted and Dismounted Scouts, Ground Surveillance Radars (GSR), Joint Surveillance and Attack Radar System (JSTARS), and Remotely Piloted Vehicles (RPV). These systems' collection effort can be monitored by displaying their individual perspectives of the battlefield, or their combined collection effort can be plotted on a 2D or 3D representation of the Terrain. The raw intelligence data produced by these systems is analyzed according to the number and types of enemy vehicles located. Probable enemy courses of action are also generated. Automated R&S planning can greatly enhance the already lethal capability of the Army by speeding up the Collection and Dissemination Process.

In times where Roth IRA's are condoned by the government, Social Security is failing, and the US economy is considered by some to be in a recession, there is no doubt that Americans need help with their finances and budgeting for the future. Concrete Budget aims to turn the idea of money, which is difficult to gestate to its fluid and abstract nature, into something tangible and easier to conceptualize. The main abstraction used to solidify a person's budget is by the use of goals (e.g. buying a house, paying for a child's tuition) that can be traded off from one to the other in order to understand the effects of savings a little money on X in order to have enough money for Y. Concrete Budget will strive to be simple and aesthetically pleasing in order to be adopted by uncle Joe, grandma Jane, and even that baby brother who always seems to get himself into tight situations.

Positioning is an important tool of marketing planning and brand building on the market. Positionig is a streategy that helps marketers to differentiate the brand from those of competition and creaete unique brand perception in minds of target consumers. In a proces of positioning development four core elements must be defined and analyzed -- target consumer, unique consumer benefit which brand offeres to the target consumer, brand and its brand equity and competitors from whom we want to differentiate the brand. In my dissertation I address both, theoretical attitudes toward positioning and its definition, as well as practical application of theoretical conclusions in case study from corporate practice

Resumen
The EPA has developed the Waste Reduction Model (WARM) to help solid waste managers estimate greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reductions from several different waste management practices. This model is useful for high level analysis but breaks down when applied to specific local systems. This paper will discuss new work currently being done by HDR to provide more reliable analysis of local conditions. This capability is of growing importance given the emergence of national carbon regulations which will require solid waste managers to develop greenhouse gas reduction strategies for their local systems.

Resumen
Tool accessibility is a critical issue for generating a complete fixture setup plan to reduce production setup time. Previous fixture design systems rarely consider the assembly tool accessibility. Current methods of assembly tool accessibility analysis mainly depend on simulation-based or user-interactive approaches which rely on users’ judgment. This paper presents a new approach to tool accessibility analysis for fixture setup planning. The fixture workspace around a tool is represented by a newly defined global accessibility sphere with depth of a truncated half-line. The assembly tools are modeled as five articulated parts to fully describe the tool characteristics. Accessibility analysis is executed to verify assembly tools’ feasibility applied on a fastener. In particular, both tool motion and tool placement constraints during tool applications are integrated into the tool geometric reasoning. The example demonstrates the fast computing speed and intuitive simulation of several assembly tools in fixture setup planning.

Resumen
Abstract Tool-Path planning is the foundation for automating many manufacturing processes. Robotic manipulators are increasingly being considered to automate tasks that require complex tool motions. Robotic manipulators provide extra degrees of freedom and are more flexible than traditional automation technologies. However, a tool-path needs to be planned and given to the manipulator trajectory generator as input. The traditional tool-path planning considers the tool to have one contact point, known as the Tool Center Point (TCP). This underutilizes the available flexibility of the manipulator. To make use of the manipulator’s flexibility, multiple contact points or multiple TCPs can be considered. These tool contact considerations make the tool path planning problem complex and computationally challenging. In this paper, we present a novel tool path planning algorithm. Our algorithm incorporates the multiple tool contact points consideration during tool-path planning in an efficient manner to generate a high-quality tool-path in a reasonable amount of run time. We evaluated our algorithm on four different test cases. The test cases include the parts with complex geometry and tools which can have surface area for establishing contacts with the part. In these test cases, a traditional single contact tool-path will not work due to geometric constraints, and multiple tool contacts make the problem challenging. Our algorithm was able to generate tool-paths for these four test cases successfully.
