The participation of children and teenagers within an armed confrontation is a manifestation that questions the basics of our contemporary society. Within countries affected by armed conflicts, an important effort should be made by the civil society to prevent de usage of children and teenagers by the parties in conflict. In addition children and teenagers formerly involved in armed conflict should be reintegrated in civil life by encouraging the practice of sports and arts. This an initiative promoted by the national and international organizations.
The arguments already discussed regarding the effects of involving the youth in sports and artistic activities suggest that such practices contribute to the reconciliation, thus pacification of social relationships. The promotion of sports is justified by the values and benefits attached by sport practice.
We have inquired youngsters that practice sports and/or arts and former child soldiers about their attitude facing the possibility to get involved in activities related to armed violence. This is to understand how children and teenagers face violence or the possibility to exercise it. In particular, to understand to which point, the youngsters that practice sports are adverse to arm themselves.

Texto completoFrom a doble review of literature and a problematic of didactic research including the question of gender in evaluation, this doctorate thesis offers an analysis of the evaluative practices of the teachers focusing on the gender's system in mathematics and in Physical and Sportive Education in primary school. The qualitative methodology used is based on pre-interviews, observations of the effective evaluative practices in each discipline and discussed autoscopies (Boutinet, 2001) interviews post-session. This dispositive enabled access to sixteen teaching sessions (eight in mathematics and eight in physical and sportive education) in classes of four teachers. Three analysis ways are used. The first one, focusing on the session, enable to identify, through the observation of the assessment episodes (Savac, 2017, 2019) and specifically their protagonists, the level of the support task's complexity, its gestion, and the teaching words associated with it. It characterises the effective evaluative practice of the teacher. The second way, enable the access to the didactic surrounding in the evaluation used par the teachers mobilizing the concept of assessment logic. The evaluative practice consists of effective practices and evaluative logic in the lesson. Finally, the third way is focused on six students selected by the teacher to represent the heterogeneity of the group. It enables to observe with details the evaluative intentions of the teacher which are given by portraits and prognostics on the results of student before the sessions. The result of this study evidences the impregnation of gender's stereotypes in the evaluative logics of the teachers which are associated with concrete material translations in the practices in situ. Theses stereotyped representations, integrated in professional practices, shapes the teacher's judgements in a differentiated way and contributes, as a result, to the perpetuation of a system which students are judged and treated accordingly to gendered expectations

Texto completoWhile the principle of an alternation between the different temporalities of initial teacher training is noted as a necessity, many studies point to a "break" between the experiences experienced by novice teachers (NT) in the university center and the experiments the school (Chaliès, Cartaut, Escalié and Durand, 2009). In order to answer this question, two guidelines for the development of alternance training schemes are proposed. The first is to "shift the center of gravity" (Zeichner, 2006) from the training to the school. The second is to move the center of gravity of the training towards the university center and propose to the NT devices that place professionalization at the center of the contributions. Paradoxically, the practice of physical, sports and artistic activities (PSAA) in the initial professional training of physical education and sports (PES) teachers is never questioned in this second orientation. Few studies have studied how to organize the theoretical-practical lessons of PSAA so that they effectively contribute to the professionalization of NT.This study was carried out on the basis of a usual training system for PES NT. Based on a research program carried out in cultural anthropology (Chaliès and Bertone, 2017), a first transformative device was implemented in order to enable the PES NT to exploit their experiences of PSAA practice during their teaching of this PSAA to students of university. From the results obtained, a second transformation was carried out. It was designed to enable PES NT to use teaching-related experiences in which their PSAA practice experiences were integrated to be able to teach PSAA to students. This twofold transformation was intended to (in)validate two auxiliary hypotheses related to the teaching of PES NT from practitioner experiences in PSAA.The results obtained show that the transformations initiated enabled the NT to engage in a teaching activity in charge of normative experiments located (NEL) followed as a practitioner. More specifically, they demonstrate the need for NT to learn NEL about teaching and to be accompanied by a trainer in the NEL "susbtrafication" process followed as practitioners in NEL followed by as a teacher. Finally, a proposal for the design of a vocational training system for PES NT is carried out

Texto completoPacing strategy is of great importance for physical education, especially for health and autonomy. Rather, few studies have attempted to propose metbods to develop this capacity . The aims of this thesis were to better understand pacing strategy and emotional regulation, to develop novel methods to improve it and to estimatc the level of motivation. Rating of perceived exertion (R.PE), but also pleasure, the desire to stop and the desire to continue the exercise were used in different self-paced and semi-controlled 3 to 15 min runs. Secondary students bave to reach maximal performance for each test. Results showed that the use of these novel emotional parameters was of importance in physical educarion. The strategy which correspond to the evolution of emotional reserve between high to low level with time have been used by school participants even if emotional reserve is still conserve at the end of exercise in all conditions. Wbat is surprising is that the investment is more important for long than during short duration exercises. Optimal strategics for short runs have been developed in school participants. Performance was improved when a minimal RPE was imposed (+14.2% and + 14,5% for 3 and 6 minute runs: RPE ≥ average value of the self-paccd run). 120% of the average RPE of the self-pace run seems to be the optimal during 3 and 6 min runs (+18,4% and 18,5% for 3 and 6 min runs). These improvements, obtained after only 1 session, are more important than what could be hoped when training consists in developing physiological adaptations. The determination of the ratio between the desire 10 continue and R PF. seems to be a good estimation of the level of intensity during exercise

Texto completoAlthough teaching is mainly described as a cognitive activity based on rational choices, contemporary literature, mostly Anglo-Saxon, shows that emotions are at the heart of this profession (Hargreaves, 1998). While it is commonly accepted that the "good" teacher can trigger the interest, motivation, or self-confidence and enjoyment of the learner, talking about the emotions of the teacher himself is more exceptional. However, the spontaneous affective assessments made during the lesson facing the students seem likely to condition both its pedagogical attitude, and more broadly its well-being. In this Phd research work, we strive to better define this field of study through the review of different definitions and measures of emotion. From this initial bibliographic anchorage located both in the fields of the Psychology of Emotions and the Sciences of Education, the emotion of the teachers is empirically investigated on different scales through the questions of (i) its sedimentation in the experiment individual teachers, (ii) its effects on the pedagogical style of the teacher during the lesson, and (iii) the methodology of in situ capture of emotional dynamics through the investigation of its different components (Scherer, 2009)

Texto completoThis thesis highlights two systems of school education within a single discipline of teaching (PES) through a comparative analysis. This research shows the convergent and divergent, points to study teaching and contextualizing acts and analyse the specificities of didactic interaction in the two territories. All this is so focused on this issue of study: "what are the specific effects of context on the evolution of knowledge in the classroom and on the conditions of their transmission. The main results are processed and analysed at two levels: macro and micro. For the macro, it is a comparative analysis of systems of school education and the organization of the PE in Haiti and Martinique based on different elements: the organization of schooling, the major educational reforms, the educational profile of teachers of the first two cycles of the fundamental school and elementary school, PE programs and physical, sports and artistic activities proposed. For the micro, it is a comparative analysis based on the curriculum said (before and after interviews) and the real curriculum (filmed lessons). This work of data collection is done in eight schools for a total of thirty classes, sixteen by territory. The selected levels are the 1st, 3rd, 5th and 6th fundamental years in Haiti and CP, CE2, CM1 and CM2 in Martinique. The distinction between macro-level and micro-level focuses on the contextual component of our study Thus, the macro is interested in the effects of the context and the microphone to the effects of context

Texto completoValues orientation (VO) represents teachers’ educational beliefs. They are implemented through curricular decisions made by physical education (PE) teachers. In PE research literature, five VO have been identified: disciplinary mastery, learning process, self-actualization, social responsibility and ecological integration. We know little about how teachers’ VO influences their teaching process. Although teachers’ VO can be described, it’s still a challenge to explain how they play out in their daily decision-making and practices. In order to understand the influence of teachers’ VO in the teaching process, we designed a teaching model. This model integrates those perspectives on value orientations and teaching practice. It focuses on teaching practices in order to understand underneath teachers’ VO and how these VO affect teaching practice back. The goal of this research is to underlined features of teaching practice influenced by teachers’ VO through a deep description of teaching model. We used a qualitative research design with inductive approach. This research was conducted with two participants. Data were collected with the help of a questionnaire, repeated interviews and deferred video observations. Informed consent was obtained prior to data collection. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics (questionnaire and video) and thematic content analysis (interviews).Data revealed that Coline’s mastery disciplinary and Sandrine’s self-actualization value orientations influence their teaching practices in pre-intervention, intervention and post-intervention. We showed they used their own values orientation to selecting and understanding their educational environment and also to define their teaching making process. These results contribute to develop knowledge about the influence of value orientations in professional practices in PE teaching and development of PE teachers

Texto completoOver past decades the introduction and evolution of new technologies enablesto consider the inclusion of ICT in the teaching of Physical & Sports education and inthe development of instrumented learning processes. The objective of the study aimsat analyzing the use of a computer-video artefact for the different steps of learningwhen practicing physical activities, which can have contrasted specificities. We defineda model for the instrumentation of the package, for their artefact appropriation and theireffective use of it, with three teachers from first degree and three others fromsecondary. We observed that the use of computer-video based feedback differsdepending on the student’s autonomy and on the initial curriculum of the teacher.Besides, this study highlights the difficulty for some secondary students to work inautonomy when faced to an autoscopy based pedagogical method, which reduces theefficiency of computer-video device

Texto completoCoeducation is often considered an ideal way to foster equality between girls and boys. Although, in theory, various institutional initiatives encouraging coeducation have contributed to fostering equal rights, they do not always lead to equal opportunities in practice. This study focuses on the tangible aspects of coeducation at secondary school level in the specific fields of physical education (PE) and sport, where some inequality between girls and boys is still often considered ―normal‖. Countering this preconceived notion, the thesis demonstrates that whilst coeducation does not initially stand in the way of greater gender equality, the educational strategies that may be associated with it are likely to put some girls at a disadvantage. In terms of methodology, the research is based on a combination of several studies, including ethnographic observation of 200 teaching hours; some twenty interviews with PE and sports teachers; and secondary analysis of two national surveys based on questionnaires completed by 1,954 secondary school pupils and 1,317 secondary school teachers. The study shows, among other things, that the type of group activity and educational content chosen (which is often male-oriented), as well as the way teachers and pupils interact, are all factors that are likely to promote disparities in the way girls and boys are treated. Finally, the work underlines that teaching PE and sport in a coeducational environment cannot be done without careful consideration of the differences between girls and boys, and the development of educational strategies that take these differences into account (be they biological or cultural)

Texto completoThe current study focuses on the didactic and the curricular configuration of the Physical Education for Young and Adults in Brazil (EJA). We developed this thesis from a research on the teaching methods. The organization and adaptation of the contents taught. And the real practices in the classroom. We created a general method that encompasses a descriptive and a comprehensive approach. That method is a result of the interaction of the three following investigational processes. We started by conducting semi-structured interviews, with seven teachers. Where we focused on the pedagogical/didactic strategies employed. The next step was the thematic and lexical analysis of thirty-five lesson plans. We concentrated on the organization of the contents, and in the situations and the selected/elaborated objectives. Finally, we developed a micro-educational study of teaching practices in two case studies. As a result, we compared the didactic, curricular, and pedagogical particularities of the Physical Education in EJA. And the contents, objectives, and teaching methods described/elaborated with the contents that were effectively taught during the classes

Texto completoThe purpose of this work is to create the conditions of an epistemological encounter between, on the one hand: the matrix of the psychic and collective individuation process, and on the other hand: physical education as a subject of learning and teaching. Gilbert Simondon first developed the philosophical theory of psychic and collective individuation process. Therefrom, Bernard Stiegler made it his own and rebuilt it while putting technics at its core. More precisely, for Stiegler, this theory rests on technics which is the main part of the process. Moreover, he shows that technics is, most of the time, excluded from epistemology. Throughout the concepts forged within this matrix, we can figure out the different patterns human societies went through. Moreover, understanding these patterns leads us to consider clearly their prospects and evolution. This work summarizes the main concepts seen as essential to define this matrix, while some of these concepts were given more attention. The organologic approach studies history and the prospects of body organs, technical tools, and social organizations. This approach brought to light the starting point for the topic concerning the contributions as well as the disputations within the past and present views of physical education (1880-2016). This process shows that the epistemic background mainly leads to consider the student action in terms of adjustment or in terms of mastering. We propose to turn this approach into a new one where the student will ease into new behavior using technics (such as physical ones or mnemonics) so that they can develop the motor attention. This view is based on the idea developed by Pierre Parlebas, seizing his work as well as the critical reviews of it. Therefore, we rely on the notion of forming symbolic motor behavior. This work also presents a theory attempting to report how the formation of these assets includes three major components: the performative component of the behavior, the relational component and the meta motor component. To test this theory, observations were made on a class of eighth graders practicing badminton. This case study points out two essential ideas: revealing the effects of an educational way of teaching based on the formation of a progressive and symbolic motor behavior (seen as "faire corps"), showing how two of the three components are specifically connected: the performative component and the meta motor component

Texto completoOne of the special features of the learning process in the field of physical practises is itsvisibility. The pupil's behaviors are visible and observable by everyone involved. The aim ofour research is to study this observational activity in the students amongst themselves, duringthe physical education lesson. We suppose that this vicarious experience (Bandura, 1980,2003) plays a role in the co-regulatory process of the pupil's learning (Allal, 2007). Thematerial and social structures and the physical activities taught represent «the given» from theteacher (Béguin & Clot, 2004), the environment «imposed» (Carré, 2004) throughout thelearning situations. It puts the children in a certain environmental objectivity. The « creation »which is both collective and individual, is the source of a shared knowledge (Bruner, 2008), ashare repertoire (Wenger, 2008) through the negotiation. It establishes hidden transmission. This activity integrates motor learnings, social behaviors, and the students' level ofinvolvment in the tasks. Ethnographic data collections, in the form of video and self-analysisinterviews highlight the functions of acquisition, communication and motivation in thisvicarious experience. But the age of the pupils and the types of physical activities (team gameand sport/jumping activities) influences the effects of these three functions

Texto completoThe part played by social interactions within the framework of teaching is not any more to show so much are numerous research which on the basis of various theoretical approaches showed their importance in acquisitions of pupils. Through the literature devoted to the part played by the interactions in the apprenticeship takes shape a wandering and polysemous concept witch present characteristic of complexity. More precisely, we define teaching-learning interactions as a co-actionnal process witch contributes to build as well the experience of pupil as that of the teacher. In this work, we study the dynamic of these teaching-learning interactions and also constructive effects on the experience of the pupils as of the teacher in Physical education and Sporting (EPS), especially in teaching sporting swimming. Within the framework of an enactive modeling of the interaction, we mobilize psycho-phenomenology witch allowing us to document the experiences engaged and built in teaching-learning interactions. The results show a relatively typical structure organized in three sequences and associated with four forms of emergent dynamics of functioning. The useful effects for the transformation of experience are associated with construction of intersubjectivity in interaction. This construction is to be connected to the mobilization by the teacher of an empathic competence to put itself instead of the other. Three levels of empathy are highlighted and act differently on the dynamics of interaction. Lastly, the constructive effects appear differentiated in the teacher and the pupil compared to dynamics of teaching-learning interaction

Texto completoThe Senegalese Wrestling known as "Lamb" is both a sport and an art. It is also as ubiquitous as a huge phenomenon in Senegal. It is practiced in almost all ethnic groups during well-defined periods and also during some specific events. This fight is now part of the process of moving from games to sports like the phenomenon of sportization traditional games, and despite its anchoring into the Senegalese beliefs and imagination, linked to the world of beliefs and superstitions. Nevertheless, it is not taught in schools. In this thesis we try to determine, establish and evaluate within the constraints of the EPS in Senegal, an educational content of this activity as it is considered to some as the sport "king." In other words, what form of school practice in the Senegalese wrestling can be proposed to students considering a share of the constraints of the EPS and also the social and cultural significance of this kind of wrestling? And what are the skills to develop? As part of a modeling of a form of wrestling “with touch” in school, we mobilize the anthropo-techno-didactic approach for the study of practices of wrestling in Senegal and to account for the functioning and the effects of the transmission and the appropriation of a form of wrestling in school. Linking inputs the anthropological, technological and educational contributions, builds a form of practice appropriate and meaningful. The results show that the integration of cultural practices and rituals relating to the activity and the identification and consideration of the difficulties of students and teachers related to the reality of combat proved decisive in the construction of content. Thus, for effective and meaningful teaching, teachers must start from the already-there bases, students' initial representations and from the specific knowledge of fighting not to forget the cultural and symbolic of such wrestling

Texto completoThis current thesis examines the establishment and development of physical education in Lebanon during the twentieth century in a chronological historical fashion. The advantage of this approach is that it is expressed in a variety of socio-political contexts. From the French protectorate to the Syrian tutelage, passing through the independence and civil war periods, there is a continuous difficulty for physical education to establish a genuine status as a teaching discipline. So why, ninety years after its establishment, is it still in search of legitimacy? In this report, we sought to explore both administrative and pedagogical dimensions. The main objective of our survey is to bring some answers to better understand the current status of physical education. We achieved this by referring to official documents and administrative measures, analyzing the political and educational discourse based on school data and the pedagogical reality. Two politically different periods mark the evolution of physical education in Lebanon. During the protectorate period, physical education was established for hygienic purposes. At the time, it still had no operating structure, both in infrastructure and personnel. During the independence period, it had a wider dissemination. However, it adopted various aspects according to the circumstances. A historical inflection point occurred in 1953, when a teaching diploma in physical education was created, driving a wider dissemination of the discipline. This work is an original account and historic review of the evolution of physical education in Lebanon

Texto completoFor the development of this research the following general objective has been formulated, indicator of the process of inquiry: To discuss the relation between the attitudinal and the sportive contents presented in the proposal of Curricular Lines for the Physical Education of Young and Adults in Brazil. According to the corporeity and the ludicity, questioning the formation of the professional of Physical Education and delineating the perspective for a sport andragogy that values the Being and the Life. From this general objective, the following objectives, which had given greater specificity to the investigative process, were defined: 1. To create the theoretical context from the corporeity/ludicity axis, articulating transversally sportive knowledge, aiming to contribute for a sport Andragogy; 2. To analyze the objectives proposed for the Physical Education of Young and Adults according to an elaborated theoretical reference and to the testimonies of the egresses of 2005 of the Physical Education course of the UFRN. 3. To interpret the relation between attitudinal and educative content from the academic reality lived by the egresses of the Physical Education course of the UFRN. 4. To understand the most urgent necessities of sustained formation of the egresses of 2005 for satisfactory performance with the Physical Education of Young and Adults. 5. To propose perspectives for the construction of a sport Andragogy from the corporeity/ludicity axis. In attendance to the nature of this research and as form of guiding ourselves in this epistemological adventure, the following ones had been basically and theoretically estimated. 1. Corporeity is a radiant focus, prime and main of educational criteria; 2. The task of the education must be carried through with men and not for men; 3. Man must only play with the beauty and with the beauty he only must play. ; 4. The sportive education must be based on esthetic and fair play. The adopted research approach is of a qualitative nature, using the interview procedure with a group consisting of twelve egresses of the Physical Education Course of the UFRN of the year of 2005.2 After the discussion of the results on the attitudinal objectives and content for the Physical Education for Adults and Young, the study shows nine themes presented by the investigated group as priorities for their sustained formation, aiming at the performance of the professional of Physical Education with the EJA: inclusive experiences; leisure and quality of life; relationships; body and personal care; social values; self esteem; sportive phenomenon; EJA training; attitudinal contents. As a contribution to the construction of knowledge for a Andragogy of Sports, the study presents a metaphorical structure called Galaxy of Knowledge righteous Glamor of integrating nine elements inspired by the Ode to the Sport of Pierre de Coubertin: life, beauty, justice, daring, honesty, joy; Fertility; progress; peace. At the heart of the structure of knowledge is righteous install a system that articulates five principles ludopoi?tico epistemological function of connecting with the righteous knowledge of the sport that must integrate the content attitudinal proposed for Fitness for Youth and Adults in order to facilitate the realization of their objectives proposed for this method of teaching

Texto completoOur research deals with one of the oral examinations of the Physical Education "agrégation externe" studying the status and importance of video in the trainee teachers's training. We have chosen to use the Science and Technology studies framework developed by Madeleine Akrich, Bruno Latour and Michel Callon (1992) in order to answer our initial question. One of the main hypothesis being the fact that there would be translation links constitutes by a network which enables to start a change in the way of using the video tool according to the skills which are expected in the teaching of Physical Education. This change would be initiated by a translator. In order to piece together the way the translation is being carried out by the translation, that is to say to chieve to change, we interviewed the Oral 3 jury, the president of the jury from 2003 to 2006, a chief Education Officer in Physical Education, headmasters and students of the Cachan Ecole Normale Supérieure in Physical education. These people were interviewed in Fontainebleau from 2004 to 2007 thanks to a questionnaire in order to know how the students used the video and how important the video was to them during this roal examination. Therefore, the analysis of these data enable us to present the different steps leading to a better understanding of how the translation is achieved

Texto completoBased on a cultural-historical approach to development (Bruner, 1992 ; Vygotsky, 1934), this thesis focuses on verbal communication in Physical Education (PE). At the interface of an interactionist approach of language (Bronckart, 1997) and self-determination theory (Deci & Ryan, 2012), language interactions are considered through the prism of the teacher's motivational style (supportive/controlling), which contributes to create a classroom climate (Reeve & Cheon, 2021). This climate perceived by the pupils nurtures the satisfaction/frustration of basic psychological needs (Deci & Ryan, 2000), which in turn impacts their motivation, and the verbal behaviours expressed proactively (agentic engagement), (Reeve et al., 2022). However, motivation to control the environment is a personal disposition (Desire for control), (Burger & Cooper, 1979) which influences the paralinguistic style of individuals (Dembroski et al., 1984). This personality trait and the teacher's expertise could influence his or her mode of communication. Nevertheless, a lack of observational data is observed in the literature taking into account the teacher’s personality to analyse his discourse in the social-discursive interactions maintained with students. Similarly, students' desire for control could influence their perceptions of the classroom climate. The aim of this thesis is to examine the conditions of intervention that are conducive to engaging students in verbal interaction throughout a learning-teaching session

Texto completoIn France, Physical Education sets up in school organized sports and physical, artistic activities, using a didactic process to provide teaching situations and educational activities which give a status to the body of the students and of the teacher too. This educational purpose aims to test/experiment a total body experience and PE teachers have to wonder about/be asked about the uses of ICT especially in a space/time school context. The manipulation/handling of these technological artefacts is viewed/considered as fine motor skills without physical exertion and energy expenditure comparable to sport and physical activity however uses of ICT with technological changes come in and redefine the relationship between living body and virtual body that we are proposing to name “PE 2.0”. This research work aims to demonstrate that PE teachers have been defining uses of ICT for their school subject for many years and respond to technological developments especially in the broadcasting and computing technologies. Based on the results of two surveys led with the PE teachers of the regional education authority (Nancy-Metz Academy) and a review of existing writing and used devices, we describe these users and the evolution of their uses/practices. The evolution of devices and available interfaces allows to include them more than in the past during lessons. But the PE teachers who use them take a proactive approach and their practices are still considered as innovative and experimental. Thus, the initial formation and continuous training of the teachers and the compilation/collection of their experience thus should must be, today, a priority for the school institutional stakeholders

Texto completoIf the historiography of EPS is clearly rich in works on the word of authority (official documents) and the sacred word (Designs EPS), however, there is less research on actual learning practices from the past investigation of the speech of ordinary players EPS. We believe this lack of historical data on what is actually taught in EPS during the twentieth century is partly due to the opacity and private act of teaching revolution and, secondly to the difficulty of finding witnesses, relatively old for us to share their teaching practices in terms of their life story. This thesis therefore focuses on the cross-analysis (testimonies, private records, inspection reports) of the evolution of actual curricula related to teaching swimming in EPS (1945-1995, second degree) in a "heterogeneous population of "teacher (s) EPS (n = 143) who experienced various personal and professional life histories. To collect data on their life story (aquatic knowledge) and their past practices educators, we used the methodology of the survey and written testimony supplemented by private sources circumstantial or semi-official and inspection reports. These tools have given us the possibility to define on the one hand, which was actually taught as aquatic knowledge before (primary socialization), during and after their studies in EPS (secondary socialization) and, on the other hand, what was actually taught to students during swimming sessions in various academies and in different school contexts (schools, colleges) between 1945 and 1995. Beyond the formalization of past teaching practices at the point of teaching swimming in EPS, a swimming resourcefulness 1945-1960, swimming in the shadow of the 1960-1986 sports, swimming or a autotelic "épsienne "(1986-1995), we were also able to highlight that the temporality of school reforms (official instructions, programs, certification evaluation) does not overlap with that of the mechanical changes observed in the field, not so much that every actor field is systematically opposed to any school reform or otherwise in accordance with it. But, in terms of its life story and professional staff (micro level), contingency local educational contexts encountered and taught in the career (meso level), the receipt of reforms and target audiences conceptions of EPS and teaching swimming worn (macro level), the actor is and remains, as also stressed Antoine Prost (1996), "a decisive factor" in the establishment or non-school reforms. Finally, this study has helped to highlight a cultural history of professional acting in the place of the teaching of swimming in EPS and epistemology aquatic knowledge acquired and transmitted as the side of the PE teachers that the students between 1945-1995. It goes without saying that our results are related to the body, the methodology and identifying characteristics of the population studied here

Texto completoIn the second half of the 20th Century in France, the teaching of physical education was marked by the increasing influence of sport within the discipline, the teachers’ status heterogeneity and the gender-differentiated division of recruitments. Although in 1941 the Vichy regime acknowledged the importance of sport within physical education on the basis of gender and status equality for recruitments, it was not until 1989 that the official entry-requirement examination – the only way into the teaching profession – was made available to both men and women. From single-sex physical education to coeducation, the broad range of life courses questioned the compliance and integration process of women into a historically male-oriented professional realm. Using data gathered from career files, interviews, surveys as well as union and professional press, this social gendered history on female physical education teachers examines the variety of paths with regards to their social, professional and familial experiences. This analysis focuses on the women in touch and in charge of their own lives. Time has shown a gradual liberation within the profession, and the expression of a relative freedom in being and acting, in careers that are embedded in family burden, though influenced today by an ideal of equality. This PhD study aims at being part of the renewal of sport and physical education history, by women, status and the individual, so as to put light on the professional issue at stake on coeducation in fine

Texto completoThe stake in this thesis is double: it is a question on one hand of producing knowledge on the process at work in the development of the professional activity of experimented physical education teacher, on the other hand to show that it is possible to transform conceptions and/or practices of training by making some work realized in class an object of thought and interlocution out of its context of realization. From the report of a professional difficulty, insufficient penetration of the contents of the in-service training in the daily practices of PE teachers, we led an intervention- research. Our action is inspired by a clinic of activity methodological frame. We have proceeded at crossed self- confrontations with the aim of assisting the professionals in them efforts "to work" their experience and resume the hand on problematic working situations. By associating trainers and trained in this approach, we allowed: on one hand, to make visible in the eyes of the trainers the reality of the activity of the trained; on the other hand to rediscover at the teacher's specialists of the manners to make and incorporated, often untold professional knowledge in training; the lighting so brought allowed to question in return, the contents and the practices of training; the job analysis of the teacher in its class so establishes a trapdoor to accede to second thought on the training and a way to rethink this one

Texto completoThis doctoral thesis studies within the joint action theory in didactics the evolution of a teacher’s practical epistemology that has no expertise in dance. The analysis is in relation with teacher continuing professional learning sessions he followed during three years. A longitudinal six years analysis was conducted using a multi-dimensional approach of observational data lessons. At a first step the didactical system of professional learning sessions was studied. The second step concerns the observation of teacher’s practice in a middle school during physical education classes (students: 11 to 12 years). Two scales were used: the first macro-didactic scale describes the practices and the knowledge enacted by the teacher all over the years and contributes to define “learning games” which are in relation with choreographic artworks. The second micro-didactic scale examines in details the teacher’s relationships to choreographic artworks during four learning games. The findings show that the knowledge to be taught and learned as proposed during the professional learning sessions is remodeled and mobilized in singular ways during the joint action with students. All of this contributing to teacher’s practical epistemology moves

Texto completoAs it comes to an end, the Second World War reveals the human disaster that the conflict is going to leave behind (Jean-Pierre Rioux, 1980). Everything must be rebuilt : bodies, minds, and the whole country. Logically, the years following the immediate after-war period experience a “health highlight” (Didier Nourrisson, 2002). In a society in which the classification of disabilities, in a logical order that opposes the normal to the pathological, the Direction Générale de l’Education Physique et des Sports (DGEPS) institute “aptitude groups” that will last for several decades. The pupils, after a meticulous summary of some of their body measurements and physical displays, are thus classified into a group where they will be taught a kind of physical education (PE), considered as the most appropriate to their needs. The goal of my studies is to highlight how, in the concept and the facts, pupils considered as “weak” physically speaking will be taken care of by the School and especially how the actors of the PE system will get together to make a cultural offer, mostly unprecedented. Through this period, the word vulnerability doesn’t concern the same group. Indeed, pupils who are vulnerable can be classified by the actors of the school institution in different ways, according to the period chosen : deficient, unfit, disabled or exempted. By that, the vocabulary chosen tells us about the vision and the representations of childhood and adolescence in accordance with what belongs to the norm or the nonstandard. What innovations are Physical Education teachers going to choose to promote a low-limit physical culture from the Second World War ? During the second half of the 20th century, how is the control of the bodies “operated” (Michel Foucault, 1975), as far as weak or disabled pupils are concerned ? Upon which medical “normality” do the actors of the time base their ideas to lead the pupils toward “good” health (physical and psychological), according to precise criteria. In the school of aptitudes, the fact that pupils that could not follow the traditional physical education course had a balanced treatment (or not) raises the issue of a symbolic and/or explicit violence. In order to build my research, I will use archive papers about physical education and physical reeducation. That is to say the “Archives nationales” from Pierrefitte-sur-Seine and Fontainebleau (when the site will open again), the “Archives du musée du sport” (located in Nice) and the archive papers from the “Musée de l’éducation” (in Rouen). From a smaller-scale point of view, the Archives from the Alsace region (department, Hospitals of Strasbourg, etc) would allow me to better understand the question of Physical Education for the young disabled at a more local scale

Texto completoA didactic analysis of teaching and learning practices related to gender in the context of priority education areas. Physical education case studies during two handball units in underprivileged multi-ethnic middle schools.Abstract: This doctoral thesis aims at analyzing physical education teaching and learning practices in two underprivileged and multi-ethnic middle schools that are located in low socioeconomic areas. The focus is about how gender order is enacted in day-to-day classrooms using the didactic joint action conceptual framework within the French didactique tradition. The case study methodology is based on observational research. Two scales of data analysis were performed. The first one (a macrodidactic analysis) characterizes teachers’ practices and identifies all contents delivered during each unit. The findings put light on the gendered chronogenesis of the knowledge taught and learned by girls and boys. The second scale (a microdidactic analysis) focuses on specific transactions and co-construction of gendered content in each site. Four students (two girls and two boys having contrasted handball skill levels and various academic achievement) were observed during prominent episodes over the unit. The analytical tools used allow describing teachers’ and students’ ‘epistemic gender positioning’. The findings show the articulation of participants’ epistemic gender positioning and its role in the making of student didactical trajectories over the unit. Particularly, they point out the effect of overlapping categories such as sex, ethnicity and socioeconomic origins on the process that leads to provide disparate knowledge thickness to girls and boys within the episodes. Using an intersectionality-based approach, the research highlights how gender inequalities in physical education are constructed in underprivileged multi-ethnic middle schools

Texto completoThis research is a contribution to the identification of guidance procedures and teaching styles implemented in teaching by complex situation in physical education (PE). Our aim is to clarify the way used by experts to implement and regulate the students’ activity in this type of education, taking in account different factors (characteristics of the teacher, nature of the motor skill sought in the APSA, and the nature of the pedagogical situation) that may influence this teaching practice. Our work is positioned on a mixed scientific framework, which original construction logic aims to develop and support teaching practices through the help of science of education and social psychology applied to education. Our empirical approach is based on ordinary observations of PSE teaching sessions. In all of the deduced results, the three studies highlight some unchanged characteristics in the guiding methods of teachers in a complex situation. Despite the noticed differences (guiding modes) in the three studies according to the different factors previously defined, in one way or another, the observed teachers preserves students' autonomy in a solution-seeking activities. On the other hand, teachers’ behavior in targeted situations was characterized by directive guidance focused on the technical aspect (didactic situations). Thus, from a disciplinary point of view, (in-depth experience in the practice and teaching of APSA), our results show that professional experience (as a teacher of PSE) does not seem to compensate for the lack of experience in the APSA taught

Texto completoThis thesis is about the curriculum reform in physical education and biology as implemented in the Republic of Benin. The research is conveyed through a comparative approach and look at the didactical transposition. Three studies are conducted. The first one characterizes from a content analysis of official documents the new disciplinary matrix of the physical education curriculum and the biology curriculum. The second study concerns the discourses held by different actors (supervisors, mentors, and teachers) on the curriculum reform which began ten years ago. The last one is about the teaching practices of 6 teachers (3 in PE teaching basket-ball; 3 in Biology teaching predation and parasitism as inter species relations). The findings highlight the constraints that weight on the ways these new curricula are implemented in classroom

Texto completoThis thesis is part of the empirical and technological research program of the "course of action" (Theureau, 1992) in cognitive anthropology. She is studying the design, use and effects of a collective video-training device for undergraduate students in Physical Education to develop their ability to analyze and understand classroom situations in Physical Education. Two aims are pursued: a) an epistemic aim seeking to better understand the forms of activity and experience deployed by students in a video-training situation and b) a technological design aim of the "activity-oriented" video-training device and responding to a design in use process. The study was conducted with a group of students (n = 15) enrolled in a pre-professionalization course in the third year degree in Physical Education Teacher Education. Five types of data were collected during the device based on periods of internships and workshop at University: (i) video recording data of student's classroom activity during the internship and also during workshop, (ii) written records produced by students during internship and workshop, (iii) self-confrontation interview data on their activity in classroom and (iv) in their written records, and (v) quantitative and qualitative data from surveys. The results reveal (i) students' appropriation of a grid allowing them to analyze PE lesson and to analyze the key moments, (ii) a lived experience in video-training which reflects a reflexive inclination on pedagogical face-to-face moments in the PE lesson, (iii) four typical forms of classroom video analysis (describe, judge, interpret, project), evidence of teacher-centered observation activity in classroom as a manager, and a blindness to student motor learning activity; (iv) the role of peers as an accelerator of the ability to analyze class practices. These results relating to the activity of students in training made it possible to jointly consider the design of different phases of the system, finalized by a first online training platform "Former à l’intervention en EPS" (Roche & Gal-Petitfaux, 2014a), then a second "Observation e tRégul@tion en EPS" (Roche & Gal-Petitfaux, 2016)

Texto completoThe process of academizing the training for Physical Education (PE) teachers was completed with the French Act of July 16, 1984 on the organisation and promotion of sports and physical exercises, (Savary’s Act) which established the UFR STAPS. However, the first mixed competitive exam to qualify as a PE teacher was only set up a few years later, during the 1989 session. As we took into account these elements, we thought it would be interesting to question two samples of PE teachers. On the one hand, we examined PE teachers who were in CREPS, in IREPS or in UEREPS before 1975 and, on the other hand, we questioned those who benefited from a university degree, in STAPS followed by professional training in IUFM after 1989. In other words, we collected the testimonies of PE teachers who benefited from two very different trainings: before and after the creation of faculties dedicated to Sports and Exercise sciences in France. Moreover, as the old training system was sex based and as the new training scheme is mixed-sex, we felt that it was necessary to question a sample of professionals while considering the gender parity factor. Therefore, the professional identity construction, according to the view of Belkaïd (1999), is interesting to consider. Through the analysis of professional life stories, our approach is both qualitative and comparative, and, in addition to “reconstruct career paths, which led, at different times, individuals to take up PE teaching career” (Michon et Caritey, 1998), our aim is to reveal distinctive features of the professional identity of PE teachers at a specific period. Our goal is thus to ask the following question: is it the same job?

Texto completoOur research project is a sociological investigation into the careers of physical education (PE) teachers in Ireland. Our enquiry focuses firstly on an enhanced analysis of the literature within the context of the newly established Republic of Ireland. Secondly, it draws on extensive qualitative interviews of female PE teachers which reveal women teachers lacking legitimization within their own profession. It does this by setting standards rooted in the notion of the perfect athlete, supported by input from the military and medical worlds. This in turn is subject to the interdependence of the Catholic Church and the state. H.S Becker’s approach to the concept of career allows for a diachronic and synchronic interpretation of the data collected. Here, the choices made by the female PE teacher and the rationale behind them are clarified. This enquiry also aims to understand the development of womanhood in its varied forms when both the educational environment and the body are subject to religious tradition. We therefore developed a typology (Max Weber) of our respondents' careers and identified a ‘stable’ type of career, a ‘breaking’ type and a ‘progressive’ one. Our findings here suggest an ambivalence in the careers of PE teachers in Ireland – characterised first by a transgression of gender norms when practising sports. However, through their commitment, female PE teachers have achieved a tenacious spirit in the face of gender stereotypes and their influence on education

Texto completoThe thesis deals with the sociology of the beginning of career of the teachers in secondary school, from the case of the Physical and Sports Education, between the passing of the examination and the third year of actual professional appointment. The point here is to categorize the variables which report difficulties and those which on the contrary facilitate the first moments in the job. For that purpose, we investigated for four years with a structured sample consisting of fifty-five teachers appointed all over the academies (i.e. regional educational authorities) of Lille and Versailles. Signings of questionnaires, interviews (sixty- five), observations of the work “in progress” (ten times a week) were carried out. Five teachers were particularly « studied », even, establishing then a kind of “longitudinal follow-up”. Finally this work brings to light the tensions between the learning of the job by the official training authorities and that on the ground, between the necessities of respecting a professionnal culture and adapting to the actual teaching situations. But these proceed of diverse variables which express themselves in ambiguous manners. We suggest systematizing this complexity by showing how the teacher submits to the job in order to succeed in adapting. Will the current “masterization” of the teaching training programmes improve it ? And thus, the transmission of the knowledge and skills in Physical Education as well as the alterations which it implies at the level of the pupils ? We may wonder why the thesis does not give a definite answer to these questions. Now it is up to the reader to appreciate if it is either because of the heterogeneousness of the configurations of career debuts, thanks to the variety of the beginners’ profiles or the chosen teaching subject

Texto completoIn the second half of the 20th century, work undertaken in the field of curriculum sociology by Anglo-Saxon and after European researchers made it possible to question the legitimacy of curricular knowledge, in particular its socially constructed character. Some studies have shown that there are variations in teaching content depending on the social composition of the school public. In other words, researches have apprehended the unequal effects of curriculum selection by highlighting a hierarchy of knowledge through a hierarchy of students. The aim of this study is to examine the manufacturing processes of inequalities by and in schools as part of physical education (PE) lessons. By drawing on students between 11 and 15 from socially contrasting schools in France and in the French part of Belgium, we tried to show that in PE, school maintained a social sorting role, conducive to cultural arbitrariness and symbolic violence. First, ethnographic observations as well as semi-directive interviews indicated that through curricular choices and the internal structuring of the discipline, teachers could reinforce or even aggravate school inequalities between students and have an impact on their well-being. This was corroborated by the procedure of Condorcet (comparison by pairs survey), which found that some of the most commonly used practice modalities in PE - performance and showing - were perceived as the most stressful by students. Secondly, after having identified with the help of sociometry survey that groups chosen by the students in PE pursued a sociological endogamy logic, we conducted several experiments, some of which used game theory to observe that in vivo, institutional choices were vectors of stress, ill-being and violence for some students
Zerai, Zeineb. "Apprentissage du handball chez les jeunes filles tunisiennes et françaises : apport de la verbalisation". Thesis, Besançon, 2011. http://www.theses.fr/2011BESA1055/document.
Texto completoThis work represents a research process that consisted in exploring numerical indices and qualitative criteria in order to study decision making with two groups of girls from two different cultural backgrounds (French and Tunisian). Through this study we hope to contribute to the development of a body of knowledge relative to team sports, including female handball at school. Specifically, our ambition is to generalize observational tools and methods giving access to more pertinent and precise information on what actually happens in game play with respect to the opposition relationship. The different experimentations show the effect of the learning condition with verbalization on the action project and on the pertinence of choices in configurations of play during game play. There is an unquestionable interest for the construction of long term tactical knowledge in relation to the implementation of an actual motor semiotic activity in handball.Small-sided games constitute a fundamental learning tool in team sport didactics. Relating thought in and on action offers students differentiated ways for making progress. Reflective feedback on game play generates its improvement, for it provides access to action rules. By insuring rigor in the research process and by keeping in mind the clarification of the various stages of our work, we tried to contribute to the development of team sport didactics at school

Texto completoThis PhD dissertation aims to theoretically refine the studying of student’s actions within the didactic joint action. The research describes the conditions of students’ productive disciplinary engagement in the teaching of gymnastics in Tunisia. It calls attention to how the breaches of didactic contract initiated by students may participate in knowledge progression is the classroom and how students contribute to situated didactic process. Students’ engagement was investigated within the didactic joint action theoretical framework in conjunction with two other Anglo-Saxon’s frameworks: ‘Classroom ecology’ and ‘Productive disciplinary engagement’. The data were collected through classroom ethnographic observations using video recording and teacher’s interviews during two gymnastic units conducted by two female teachers. The study was conducted in two steps: a macro analysis of students’ cooperation during three lessons of each unit, and a micro-didactic analysis which focused on student’s actions during significant episodes of task transformations. The findings characterize in depth the conditions under which students teach themselves through modifications of the didactic milieu (mesogenesis). The comparison of the two teachers’ teaching practices, one in a public high school and the other in a private high school, points out generic patterns linked to a specific topogenetic process that enrolls students in a productive disciplinary engagement

Texto completoAs far as the child is growing and developing, his care and supervision must be given the special attention. Children rights also define his responsibility; therefore, knowing own rights, he is to perceive that surrounding people have the similar rights. Non formal physical education is closely linked to the context of rights and obligations: on one hand, one of the most important aims of the physical preparation is to help young people to develop in social context by learning to communicate, compete under the pre-defined norms of behaviour and communication, principles of the fair-play. On the other hand, upon working with youth the most important is thing is the health of the young sportsman, his safety and well-being. Object of the survey – perception of rights and obligations of students doing sports. Aim of the survey is to reveal peculiarities of perceiving rights and obligations of students doing sports within the context of non formal physical education. Methods of the survey: theoretical (review and generalisation of the scientific literature); empiric (questionnaire; content analysis); statistical (method of the descriptive statistics; Chi-square criterion (x2) in verifying differences and links between separate variables). 132 sports active students from two age groups participated in the survey: 64 respondents of 11–12 years old and 68 respondents of 15–16 years old. Results of the survey indicated that the sports active students, especially senior teenagers... [to full text]

Texto completoThis work lies on the analysis that the introduction of new programs only slightly affects teachers' practices. Four resisting factors have been identified by the literature: the conception logic of official documents, the way they are introduced to teachers, the structure of the text and finally, the educative conceptions from which teachers define their own practices. In order to deal with this issue of change, it was key to start upstream from teachers' practices, where lies the system ofvalues mobilized by the teacher to carry out his task. We will express the hypothesis according to which it is possible, under the particular frame of physical education (PE), to affect teachers' system of values in presenting the range of the notion of pupils' personal-development in a teaching curriculum during their PE lessons. In order to characterize the systems of values and measure the changes induced by the introduction of the curriculum, we use the values-orientation (VO) model. The obtained results partly confirm this hypothesis as a modification of the systems of values is noticed. This experience concurs with the effect of the elements picked up in the literature to conceive the curriculum and the existence of a link between the evolution of the VO profile and its original structure. However, two major contradictions raise questions on the relevance of a strictly quantitative approach. The teachers' original profiles are composed of incompatible VOs amongthemselves and the evolution of the different VOs during the experience disagrees with those coined by the literature

Texto completoThis research is situated in the field of language teaching. It is based on an experience of teaching French through a circus arts project, conducted in a primary school with a group of children aged 6 to 11, recently arrived in France. The hypothesis is that circus activities through the emotions involved and the implied situations of communication lead to spontaneous speech and have a positive effect of L2 oral production. The steps of the project take into account the evolution of emotions developed in these artistic activities: - Move to feel moved - See and feel moved – Give to see for spectators to feel moved. The analysis of the tasks in the light of language acquisition theories leads to a better understanding of the impact of this project on learners’ oral production of French. The analysis of the oral production, the examination of the investment of learners in the project and of emotions they expressed, allow me to highlight certain elements of the link between emotion, investment and L2 acquisition. After measuring the scope and limits of this study, I can suggest a few perspectives and advice for the establishment of a circus project involving L2 acquisition
