This thesis deals with the field of behavioural economics though the use of agent-based simulations. It studies the link between individual and aggregate behaviour in markets. The thesis gathers three contributions that deal with the impact of the process of interaction on price formation thought the emergence of negotiation and the existence of price discrimination. It shows that institutions like decentralised negotiations are considered as a way to diffuse information between agents and allow them to act under uncertainty about other agents' reservation prices. Moreover, negotiations allow agents to participate to the market activity whatever their demand. If their personal characteristics allow, agents should be loyal, buy as most as possible to the same seller and bargain, in order to obtain an acceptable 'price'

This doctoral dissertation examines the determinants explaining the type of contracts chosen by exporters and importers to manage the hazards of international trade. It analyzes the case of Chilean off-season exports as one of the southern-hemisphere leaders in the fruit trade. Applying Transaction Cost Economics and Institutional Analysis as a framework, this work will analyze the influence of environmental and behavioral uncertainty and time-specificity on the degree of completeness, formalization and enforcement of contracts. A multi-strand research design integrating qualitative-quantitative methods is applied to analyze information gathered through: 39 face-to-face interviews with exporters and importers; questionnaire surveys from 65 exporters; an exhaustive Chilean customs database containing 170,370 shipments and contracts from Chile to worldwide buyers; and 44 international arbitration cases for the fruit and vegetable trade. The results show that high levels of uncertainty in the alternative importing countries increase the use of more complete contracts. When levels of fruit perishability are high, this often leads to less complete contracts. Shortage of market supply allows the exporting company a favorable position to negotiate a more complete contract. International transactions are supported by oral and written means; the use of signed contracts is more important than perceived in the fruit industry, but its role is more oriented to respond to institutional requirements rather than as a mechanism to offset hazards, such as exporting to risky countries or dealing with distrustful importers. To enforce contracts firms adopt formal and informal mechanisms. These include inspections, insurance, arbitration, in addition to trust and reputation. Limitations of this study include: the customs database does not include the identity of the importer, the cross-sectional analysis performed does not allow observing the evolution of contracting practices, the study is placed predominately from the exporter's perspective. There is also little empirical research on contracts analyzing transactions embedded in different institutional settings. This thesis contributes to the knowledge of contractual choices in 117 importing countries. It contributes to the understanding of international trade of perishable products. It also contributes to the economics and management literature on international contract completeness, formalization, enforceability, and to literature focusing on the changes of governance in the international supply chains

This research deals with a rematerialisation of the work of art during the 1960s and 1970s, through the use of perishable materials, such as waste, food or corporal fluids. Within this work, I clearly make a difference between the perishable and the ephemeral, since the first has a tendency to last and age, to degrade without necessarily tend to its total disappearance. For the starting point of this PhD, I chose the way several artist - from Dieter Roth to Daniel Spoerri to Ed Ruscha, Arman, Gordon Matta-Clark, Dorothée Selz or Roy Adzak - have considered these new materialities; I evoke the relation, sometimes ambiguous, maintained by these artists with the museum, through entryist or anti-institutional strategies. A first part, "the dustbin", establishes the groundwork of the contestation of the museum through the use of the perishable; the second once, "the can", is interested in the approaches that parody the imprisoning aspect og the institution; finally, the last part, entitled "the relic" is dedicated to the more religious dimension of the meseum : the perishable works of art transform into relics of the artists

This study investigates the treatment of the deceased during the 2nd millennium BC (Middle Helladic and Helladic Recent), in order to establish treatment distributions and funeral gestures. Thus, by using the "archeothanatological" method, we observed the original position of the deceased, studies the recurrence and the divergence of some funeral gestures. We have tried to identify regional traditions, but also to distinguish between different adoption modalities, partial or total transfers of funeral customs through time. To carry out this work, we analyzed data from publications and excavation reports and photographs showing the interior of twenty-four tombs with forty-six skeletons in situ. Thus, were able to identify the different faces of appearance of the various bon parts: this has allowed us to discover the presence until now unsuspected, for some sites, perishable containers: sometimes were proposed new positions of the deceased different of those already established in many publications. Finally, in parallel, we have studied in Greek and Swedish museum collections of bones of the sites of Assine I and II and of the ancient Agora of Athens in order to discover bone voluntary anthropogenic changes. We thus showed the absence of voluntar changes and burnt bones

This thesis presents a new problems inspired by a real case, we introduce two-echelon multi-depot, multi-vehicles Inventory-Location-Routing problem (2E-MDILRP) for a specific type of perishable product, proved to be NP-hard. In addition, we studied the taxonomy of the sub problems of 2E-MDILRP, and we propose the different constraints of perishable products. This taxonomy would, on the one hand, provide better understanding of the 2E-MDILRP of the perishable products, and on the second hand identify promising further research topics. So, a mathematical model has been proposed and validated using the OPL\Cplex solver for this new variant. Also, we proposed a specific heuristic developed with iterated local search algorithm (ILS) using to solve the new 2E-MDILRP problem. This is tested within a theoretical framework, the under a real empirical framework. The latter consists in optimizing the perishable product distribution and inventory. These developed methods have been tested on sets of instances of up to 4 main depots, 20 potential satellites and 200 customers, with two fleets of heterogeneous vehicles available at a rate of one fleet for each level. The results of our exact and approximate method show the efficiency of the approach

Because of the importance of multimodal transport for goods importation and exportation from Morocco to international customers, our goals are modeling and solving multimodal freight transportation problems by more focusing on some issues confronted by our country. After presenting the required mathematical background on robust and multiobjective optimization and surveying the literature works on multimodal transport problems, its variants and solution approaches; and instead of testing them only on traditional benchmarks; we dealt with new variants and methods. A multi-objective mathematical model is proposed to optimize the multimodal transport of agricultural products from Morocco to Europe. To solve this model adapted to a real network, two multiobjective version algorithms are presented in order to optimize simultaneously the total transportation cost and the over-time.Given the complexity of the global logistics chain by various operations and several stakeholders, the data of the problem may sometimes be ignored or uncompleted. That’s why we have developed a mathematical model for multimodal terminal location problem by integrating uncertainties of the transportation costs, the capacities and the using costs of terminals. A population based simulated annealing and a hybrid method combining an exact and a metaheuristic approaches are proposed to effectively solving the problem. The test is then performed on a real intermodal network. These contributions are concluded by remarks and highlights about the impact of perishability and robustness on flows, location strategies of ports, the choice of paths and transportation modes

To support the urban farm emergence trend in large metropolises, we propose decision support tools based on mathematical programs to design market gardening farms targetting the demands of different categories of clients in local fresh fruits and vegetables. Technical solutions develop rapdily, but the strong constraints linked to urban farming, such as limited surface and high operating costs, make difficult to define viable and sustainable business models for urban market gardeners. Three mixed integer linear programming models are presented: An annual strategic sizing model, a client combination selection model and a plurennial strategic sizing model for diversified fruit and vegetable farms. Numerical results and model performances are presented, based on multi-products, multi-techniques and multi-periods real cases. Our main contributions are the consideration of the perishable nature of fruits and vegetables in strategic production systems sizing models, including notably the investments and workforce sizing
