Resumen
The article analyzes the issues of inclusion and special education in the creative heritage of Sofia Rusova – teacher, citizen, politician, state maker, who considered them in the context of world scientific achievements of the interwar period of the XX century. Inclusion, as a process of increasing the participation of all citizens in society, including those with physical or mental disabilities, involves the development and implementation of specific solutions that will allow each person to participate equally in academic and public life. The evolution of the idea of inclusion and the birth of special education S. Rusova closely linked with the understanding and interpretation of the leading principles of pedagogy, general and social psychology, sociology, philosophy of education, historical and pedagogical searches of the late XIX - early XX century. Perhaps the most important source of new pedagogical ideas of S. Rusova, embodied in the writings of the interwar period (“New School of Social Education”, “Education and Sociology of Durkheim”, “Social Education: Its Importance in Public Life”, “Public Issues of Education” became acquainted with the latest trends in Western European pedagogy, which allowed her to keep up with the times, psychologize pedagogy. Extensive education, fluency in the leading European languages (first and foremost, French) made it possible for S. Rusova to access the original literature - works by J. Dewey, E. Claapared, G. Kerschensteiner, V. Lai, E. Meiman, and G. Spencer with the most prominent pedagogical figures of the 1920s and 1930s, including O. Decroly and M. Montessori, and studying the experience of their practical work. Guided by the statement that “ development of the child is influenced by three main factors: education, heritage, and environment”, based on the experiments of foreign (German, Belgian, Czech) researches, the scientist revealed the specifics of social and educational impact of the environment, preparing the groundwork inclusion as a set of conditions, methods and means of their implementation for joint learning, education and development of the educational recipients, taking into account their needsand opportunities. At the same time, I emphasize the shaft that no child “is passively influenced by the environment: it takes from it what its individuality seeks.” The issue of special education, in particular, the psychological and pedagogical principles of working with children with intellectual disabilities, is most fully revealed in S. Rusova's work, “Something about defective children in school”. It clearly traces the idea that children of all walks of life are necessarily subject to process education and training. According to S. Rusova, children with deviant behavior (in particular, “child offenders”), for whom the conditions for education as a factor of their re-education should be created, and for the needs of such schools, should not be left out of the educational influence in order to organize teacher training “with a deep psychological understanding of their sick students, with a heart warmed with love for them, and with a certain understanding of their social and pedagogical task: to return these children to citizenship ...”. Summarizing the above, it can be argued that the issues of inclusion, studying, education of children and young people with special educational needs, as represented by the property of Sofia Rusova are a significant contribution to Ukrainian and world pedagogical thought, an important factor in the revival of national educational systems in the teaching experiences of the past.

Resumen
Promising areas for improving the education system, and with the advent of coronavirus online mode has become critical in education, in this regard are at home. Schools have started using Zoom software, and the role of the modular learning environment has grown significantly. At the same time, many problems were identified, such as the lack of Internet access for students from rural areas or disadvantaged families, which has become an obstacle to learning and access to educational materials. In response, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization has made a number of recommendations for distance learning. Modern distance education is an extensive system of knowledge transfer at a distance using various tools and technologies, the result of which is the receipt by users of the necessary information for its successful implementation in practice. There are a variety of ways to disseminate knowledge today: mailing books, writing assignments, audio and video discs, telephone consultations, and virtually limitless possibilities of the World Wide Web. The use of distance learning methods allows to provide educational services of various kinds in remote areas, to teach without interruption from the main activity, to teach people with disabilities, to have access to educational resources of the world through the use of modern electronic communications. In today's world, education plays a key role in people's lives, which makes it necessary to constantly develop teaching methods, including distance learning. The coronavirus pandemic has revealed many shortcomings of distance education, as well as the absolute unpreparedness of students and educational institutions for this form of education. That is why it is important to develop this industry now in order to further provide comfortable education for both Ukrainian and foreign students and to ensure that in the future the education system will be ready for situations similar to the coronavirus pandemic. The article is written to assess the advantages and disadvantages of distance learning, its necessity, analysis of the requirements for distance learning materials. Prospects of technologies of multimedia representation of researched objects, processes, phenomena, adequate modeling of the subject area, and their realization.

Resumen
Accommodating individuals with disabilities in the workplace is a rapidly growing concern. Furthermore, those who are functionally impaired are in a dire need of assistance. In a classroom, the main function of a student is to learn. Learning is facilitated by an instructor's lectures, writings on the board, use of audiovisuals, etc. Generally, it is presumed that students do not have any common functional impairments (visual, auditory, etc.) and, therefore, no special effort is made to accommodate those who may have such impairments. Obviously, the learning of a legally-blind student or one who has impaired hearing, for example, will be compromised if no assistance is provided. Then there are issues such as providing reading materials for the blind (college catalogues, lecture notes, etc., in braille?). What should be done? The purpose of this panel discussion is to, in general, address and discuss the issues involved in educating people with disabilities, particularly those that are not very obvious or visible (ex., wheelchair confinement). How should university campuses resolve this problem in this age of dwindling resources? Sensitive issues, such as “Needs of the many versus the needs of the few?” and “What responsibility do we have to the few that really need such assistance?”, also need to be resolved.

Resumen
Abstract. The article examines the problematic and thematic aspect of publications in Ukrainian online media about military personnel who became disabled as a result of the Russian-Ukrainian war, classifies the messages by topic and identifies legal, social, medical, rehabilitation, psychological and educational aspects; the problems that most often concern this category of people are identified. The study uses the methods of analysis, classification, synthesis, monitoring and statistical calculation. The author emphasizes the conflicting attitudes of the state, Ukrainian society and the media towards servicemen and women with disabilities caused by war. The positive attitude of the state and medical professionals towards them and their glorification in the media correlates with the bureaucracy of state institutions, disrespect for the military, for volunteers with disabilities, lack of digitalization and proper information, poor quality medical services, extortion of bribes for granting disability status, negligence and unpreparedness to work with the military, and inaccessibility to various institutions, lack of systematic modern rehabilitation, which forces Ukrainian military personnel to travel abroad to receive quality treatment and prosthetics, a paucity of publications on psychological and educational topics, ambiguous attitudes in society, as people have not yet been able to develop a culture of communication with people with disabilities, and a lack of information in the media. It has been found that in some media there is a tendency to increase the number of publications about servicemen who have received disabilities as a result of the Russian-Ukrainian war, while in some publications there is no such tendency.

Resumen
The article reveals the main factors that influence the integration of refugees from Ukraine, including persons with disabilities, into host communities in Georgia. Social integration is a growing concern in global migration studies. The study aimed to analyze what factors influence the social integration of refugees with disabilities into the host community environment in Tbilisi (Georgia). Through field observation and semi-structured interviews with volunteers and members of non-governmental organizations providing services to Ukrainian refugees, including people with disabilities, the study examined how Ukrainians’ participation in Georgian community life contributes to social integration. The results of the study highlight three dominant themes that permeate all three levels of socialization of refugees from Ukraine in a large city (micro, meso, and macro levels): the charitable model of social attitudes that portrays persons with disabilities as victims who deserve compassion; invisibility; and activity and resistance. The article also highlights the peculiarities of the integration process of Ukrainian refugees, which are typical for Georgia.

The development of modern digital media not only contributes to the expansion of human capabilities, but also deepens social inequality. The Ukrainian media community has no positive experience in covering the problems of vulnerable social groups. As the media actively shapes public opinion and ideas, exacerbating the problem of tolerant public perception of ‘special’ people, the introduction of an inclusive approach in the media should be a priority.

Tink, Amanda. "Uncovering the history of Australian disability literature". Thesis, 2016. http://hdl.handle.net/1959.7/uws:39064.

Texto completo
Resumen
This thesis argues for the recognition of disability as a critical category in Australian literature, in the same way that indigenous and women' s' literature are. It demonstrates that writers with disability bring a perspective to writing that is invaluable, especially on, but by no means limited to, the topic of disability. It takes as its starting point the foundational disability studies concept that disability is a sociocultural construction. This perspective labels medical conditions as impairments, and believes that people with impairments are disabled by the barriers resulting in exclusion that society constructs. It also believes that both impairment and disability are cultural constructions, and that it benefits both people with and without disability when ideas around normalcy and embodiment are critically examined. This thesis asks: Who are Australia 's published writers with disability? What were and are they writing? And, How has impairment and disability influenced their writing? It answers these questions through close analysis of two of Australian disability literature's most well-known fiction writers - Henry Lawson (who was deaf), and Gillian Mears (who had multiple sclerosis), and explores how impairment and disability have influenced both the style and the content of their writing.

Resumen
Abstract Before we can intelligently discuss this question we must first consider what is caste and what are the disabilities of caste under which the Negro labors. Caste in America is not what it is in most countries. In India it is the distinction made between people of different trades, professions, or religious sects. In most European countries it is the distinction made by society between people of different rank, wealth and position. In America it is neither. In this country the work in which a man is engaged, if it is honest, does not bring upon him odium or contempt; neither does his religious beliefs separate him from his fellow man nor need he, however lowly born, despair of rising to the highest positions of wealth and honor. That is provided he is a white man. But caste in America is the distinction between two great races, the white and the black. The whites make this distinction. It is not mutual. And this vast superiority, in regard to numbers, wealth, and power, enable them to enforce it. The disabilities of caste under which the Negro labors are many, especially in the South. He is not allowed in hotels, restaurants, or any other such public place, however wealthy he may be. He is compelled to ride in a dirty, smoky railroad car, however refined and cultured. He does not get justice in the courts; and for every slight offense the fullest extent of the law is meted out to him. He is debarred from many of the trades and professions on account of his race. In fact he is subjected to every form of humiliation and oppression which humanity and a republican form of government will allow. Now before we suggest any remedies let us look at the causes for this state of affairs. Was this caste born in America? No, for we can see traces of it all through history. Hannibal is said to have had in his army one officer who was a Negro and to whom much of his success was due; but the other officers would not associate with him because he was, a Negro.

Resumen
This chapter assesses Richard III in light of anti-utopian queer theory and its offshoot, crip theory, a radical field of disabilities studies that reclaims the term “cripple” to aggressively confront assumptions that underlie ableist heterosexism. Rather than fetishizing the future signified by the child of heterosexual coupling, Richard empowers himself to murder the line of royal heirs who stand between him and the throne by identifying with his own crip body, embracing ableism's reading of it as a sign of doom or death. The chapter returns to the figure of Andy Warhol—his writings, biographies, Marilyn Monroe portraits, and skull paintings—as a kindred queercrip performer who, like Richard, proliferated his own disfigurement and morbidity through deformed, moribund offspring. Like the queer and disabled artists at the center of current crip theory, who use their bodies performatively to contest ableist heterosexism, Richard and Warhol identify with their social and corporeal otherness to stage fictitious distinctions between normal and defective, straight and queer, alive and dead. The chapter observes how the afterlives of both figures generate forms of postmortem reproduction that insist on a future for the dead, queer, and crip.

Resumen
People with impairments frequently struggle to carry out daily activities alone or even with assistance. They encounter obstacles in the environment, movement, interaction, access to writings, personal health maintenance, handling medical issues and behavioral equality. One of the subjects that have received a lot of attention from researchers is computer-based Assistive Technology (AT). Disabled people utilize AT to tackle things previously practically impossible for them. Various forms of disabilities necessitate the use of AT, which can help people with disability to do their regular work. Therefore, these technological innovations have the power to play a substantial role in supporting huge segments of society to operate and lead a normal life. The fundamental goal of AT is to continually increase a person's ability to perform independently, hence improving their overall health. Individuals who use technological aids can lead healthy, dignified, independent and respectable lifestyles. On the whole, AT aims to enable disabled individuals to join nearly every facet of life, including at home, education and community, as well as to increase their opportunities for social interactions and meaningful employment. AT devices simply gives disabled individuals more freedom and control. The significance of AT and AT devices, current trends, approaches, limitations and some of the major challenges identified in previous assessments as well as recent research findings in the field of AT, are all effectively discussed in this chapter.

Resumen
This paper presents an overview of Victor Papanek’s book Design for the Real World (1971) from the perspective of current 3rd year industrial design students, members of GenZ, combined with the perspectives of the educators/authors who read the original edition of the book in the 70s and 80s. Students read individual chapters the 2019 edition of this book, wrote a critical review, and presented their overviews and findings in two lengthy class discussions that allowed them to ‘read’ the entire book. The perspectives of the students and educators (from very different generations) reveal an interesting story about the Austrian-born American designer and educator’s writings. In this paper we reveal the continued relevance and critically analyze Papanek’s writings by illustrating how his views on socially and environmentally responsible design live on.Taking his early design inspiration from Raymond Loewy, Papanek went on to study architecture with Frank Lloyd Wright. An early follower and ally of Buckminster Fuller, a designer and systems theorist, Papanek applied principles of socially responsible design, both in theory and practice ultimately working on collaborative projects with UNESCO and the World Health Organization. In Design for the Real World, Papanek professed his philosophy that objects or systems work as political tools for change. He became a controversial voice within that time frame as he declared that many consumer products were frivolous, excessive, and lacked basic functionality causing them to be recklessly dangerous to the users. His ideas seemed extreme, echoed by many other environmental philosophers at the time, at that point in history, but perhaps viewed from the 21st century seem prophetic. An advocate for responsible design, Papanek had visionary ideas on design theory. Papanek felt it was important to put the user first when designing. He spent time observing indigenous communities in developing countries, working directly with, and studying people of different cultures and backgrounds. Papanek designed for people with disabilities often in pursuit of a better world for all. He also addressed themes that have continue to be overlooked in design in the 21st century - inclusion, social justice, appropriate technology, and sustainability.Papanek ultimately earned the respect of many talented colleagues. He would go on to design, teach, and write for future generations. Opposing the ideals of planned obsolescence and the mass consumerism that fuels it, his work encompassed what would become the idea of sustainable design and decreasing overproduction for the consumer market. Themes from Design for the Real World remain relevant, and today it has become one of the most widely read books on design; resulting in Papanek’s voice continuing to push designers to uplift their morals and standards in practicing design. This paper highlights Papanek’s values of designing thoughtfully and for all, while revealing the details on the relevance of his writings five decades after the original publication.
