This thesis, “ Prevention of Pirate TV/Pay TV ", implements a method whereby television viewing could possibly be controlled by payment. Each television set would have a microcontroller board with a unique preprogrammed security code and a display installed and a remote control (ram card). The remote control is programmed with the desired viewing dates and security codes by the authority in charge by using the programming unit. A cash transaction then takes place. The client has 24 hours to download this information into the television's microcontroller before it becomes useless. Software checks occur to determine downloading with a successful download, the TV set is switched on. When the end date occurs, the TV set switches off and the displayed dates are cleared from the display. The 'Licence Due' light emitting diode comes on. For the television to be switched on, the above procedure must be repeated. Any calender duration maybe programmed for the viewing dates.

The broadcasting sector is a subject of continual debate in modern society. One of the oldest segments of the rapidly-evolving information technology and communications industry, it is still the most content rich and the most popular. Australians who watch television spend more time doing so than doing any other leisure activity - except those who fish (ABS 1998). Broadcasting is highly pervasive. Some kind of service is available and used in every Australian household. Everyone is an expert, everyone has an opinion. Since the Federal Government decided to allow the introduction of domestic subscription television in 1992, pay television has been broadly dismissed by its media rivals as being unpopular, unprofitable and unnecessary. In turn, the Australian pay television industry considers that it is over-regulated, especially compared to the free-to-air sector, and that much of this regulation severely constrains its ability to grow its subscriber base. This thesis examines whether the Australian subscription television industry has achieved the aims set for it by the legislators in 1992 - that is, whether it has 'met its promise'. To achieve this, the thesis first identifies the 'promises' of an Australian subscription television industry. In assessing whether the industry has met its promise, the thesis considers various aspects of the industry, including what the industry has needed to do to make itself profitable and ensure its longevity and the environment within which the industry operates. The thesis examines the role that content plays in attracting subscribers and considers whether minimal content regulation has resulted in a paucity of local content on subscription television in Australia. The thesis draws on existing academic literature, government publications, information released by the subscription television industry itself and interviews conducted in the course of the project with the Australian subscription television sector. It also uses and builds on ratings data to examine the programs and channels that are offered by Australian pay television services. In concluding, this thesis makes an assessment of whether the Australian pay television industry has met its promise.

The issue of pay television has generated a plethora of reports and submissions from politicians, bureaucrats and industrialists for a decade. That the issue is not yet resolved is the result of many factors, all of which serve to highlight the structural complexities of the Australian electronic media system. At the political level, social policy is in a state of transition and broadcasting policy has reflected this. The Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) and the Special Broadcasting Service (SBS) have been forced to reappraise their roles as public broadcasters. The commercial networks have seen their reserves and their profitability deteriorate drastically in an environment of poor management, fluctuating government policy and a depressed national economy. The Australian Broadcasting Tribunal (ABT), the federal regulator of commercial broadcasting, is struggling to adapt to these new circumstances, and is confronted by new challenges to its powers and responsibilities. Ideally, a discussion on the introduction of pay television would be conducted within the context of a comprehensive and established federal broadcasting policy. Basic to this thesis is the perception that no such policy exists. It is left to the analyst to speculate as to the intentions evident in Government initiatives, suggest the potential impact of pay television in that light, and offer constructive criticism accordingly. This thesis recognises that pay television seems inevitable as both major political parties are committed, in principle at least, to its introduction. This thesis sets itself the following objectives: to identify the salient components that serve to define pay television; to develop and employ a methodology to extract lessons from the experiences of others with pay television, whilst remaining sensitive to historical and structural context; to apply those lessons to the Australia condition; and to make recommendations on the introduction of pay television, based on both the definitional and comparative work of this thesis, within the context of contemporary Government deliberations, as evident in the Report from the House of Representatives Standing Committee on Transport, Communications and Infrastructure of November 1989.

The ten year debate over the introduction of pay television in Canada is addressed using the concept of external signals to examine the interactions between the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) and the players in the regulatory environment.
A critique of the notions of "public interest" and of regulatory "capture" precedes the analysis. An historical overview establishes the key issues shaping the nature of the CRTC as a signal-sending and signal-receiving institution.
The evidence demonstrates that the CRTC was not a passive receptor of external signals, but actively shaped and directed or deflected incoming signals according to its own public priorities. The conclusion holds that the traditional capture model does adequately describe the CRTC's behaviour as it attempted to manage the complex political and technological forces surrounding the pay television issue.

The lack of interoperability between Pay‐TV service providers and a horizontally integrated business transaction model have compromised the competition in the Pay‐TV market. In addition, the lack of interactivity with customers has resulted in high churn rate and improper security measures have contributed into considerable business loss. These issues are the main cause of high operational costs and subscription fees in the Pay‐TV systems. This paper presents a novel end‐to‐end system architecture for Pay‐TV systems cooperating mobile and broadcasting technologies. It provides a cost‐effective, scalable, dynamic and secure access control mechanism supporting converged services and new business opportunities in Pay‐TV systems. It enhances interactivity, security and potentially reduces customer attrition and operational cost. In this platform, service providers can effectively interact with their customers, personalise their services and adopt appropriate security measures. It breaks up the rigid relationship between a viewer and set‐top box as imposed by traditional conditional access systems, thus, a viewer can fully enjoy his entitlements via an arbitrary set‐top box. Having thoroughly considered state‐of‐the‐art technologies currently being used across the world, the thesis highlights novel use cases and presents the full design and implementation aspects of the system. The design section is enriched by providing possible security structures supported thereby. A business collaboration structure is proposed, followed by a reference model for implementing the system. Finally, the security architectures are analysed to propose the best architecture on the basis of security, complexity and set‐top box production cost criteria.

My thesis explores what I call the "Sopranos Experience," which draws upon both the historical conventions of the gangster genre as well as the aesthetics and economics of pay-cable television to complicate The Sopranos' (HBO, 1999-2007) psychological relationship with the 21st-century, neoliberal American audience. The Sopranos Experience explicates how wavering identifications and dis-identifications that develop for the spectator through the series' form and content draw the responsibility of an audience away from moral ultimatums that attempt to finalize their experience with the genre, and towards a more personal ethical entanglement with the characters and their socioeconomic anxieties and desires. The ethical entanglement highlighted by The Sopranos reveals an entanglement that has always existed for the gangster genre throughout its history that has been recognized, but not thoroughly explored by previous gangster scholarship. Because of the The Sopranos' psychotherapy story arc through Tony's (James Gandolfini) relationship with Dr. Melfi (Lorraine Bracco), psychoanalysis plays a key role in the Sopranos Experience. The serial form and narrowcasting develop a more in-depth psychological relationship between the spectator and the characters than seen in previous gangster genre films. Through the psychoanalytic theory of Jean Laplanche, I argue the spectator's closer relationship with the series not only results in the spectator's constitution of self through the fictional characters, but that this constitution of self extends into their lived, everyday experiences with others. In this discussion of the psychological connection between the spectator and the characters, their shared anxieties about and desires for socioeconomic stability in a neoliberal environment mobilizes the spectator's relationship not just with the series, but with others in their lives. In recognizing their atomized role in the viewership experience, The Sopranos allows the spectator to make ethical demands about their atomization and vulnerability in a neoliberal society. Because they can recognize the collective's similar situation, the spectator is situated to make larger demands about socioeconomic systems that atomize the individual.

This report studies the television industry in the US, and the changes that have taken place in the industry in the last decade. Specifically, it looks at episodical TV content delivery and consumption - excluding movies, sports and live programming. The study uses 2005 as a reference point, marking the end of the pre-online video era. The industry followed a "content push" model, with channels programming the content for viewers based on their understanding of viewership, timings and preferences. The study shows that the large cable TV operators enjoyed the maximum value capture in the industry. This business had a high barrier for entry due to the expensive dedicated video delivery infrastructure, and this barrier prevented new entrants into the field. Following this, a study of the current state of the TV industry is done. Online video delivery has removed the high barrier for entry, and new entrants providing Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) and Over The Top (OTT) video have entered the field. Netflix, which provides OTT video, has more subscribers than any other pay TV provider. In parallel, video consumption has become more individualized and pull-based - largely due to growth of mobile consumption devices such as smartphones and tablets. Based on the study, the major changes and the underlying drivers of these changes are identified. Analyzing these drivers further, the following implications and opportunities are presented. i. Growth of "Over the Content" (OTC) services to connect people better with on-demand content. ii. Growth of new measurement technologies for online video consumption. iii. Continued pressure against bundling, resulting in more atomized content offerings. iv. Upward integration in terms of industry activities, by the delivery companies. v. Potential downward OTT offerings by the major networks. vi. Risk of avalanche decline in traditional cable subscribers.

This thesis looks at the subject of sports television programming in two European markets, the UK, one of the biggest and most developed in the continent, and the Greek, one of the smallest in Europe. With the help of case studies over a period of eight years and qualitative interviews of television executives and professionals who are involved in sports television rights agreements, it analyses and compares the strategies and decision making of television organisations, the factors that affect their decisions and their success within the chosen markets. A distinction will be made between public service, commercial and pay-TV and the reasons why different sports may suit different channels and at different points in their development. The findings should help to appreciate that there is not one strategy that works universally better than another. Its outcome depends on the value of the content, the particular characteristics of the organisation and the external environment where it operates. Most importantly, the thesis highlights the importance and limitations of the TV sports content, its crucial role in the decision making process and the necessity of more academic research into the area of sports television by people in content-driven disciplines, i.e. journalism and the media.

A presente tese busca analisar as relações entre as estruturas de produto e custo e a verticalização mediante a aplicação da teoria microeconômica básica. Verificamos que os pacotes de canais ofertados ao consumidor podem ser explicados através de 3 efeitos: Discriminação de Preço, Complementariedade entre grupos de canais e Dispersão da propensão a pagar entre grupos de canais. Dentro das hipóteses indicadas acima, identificamos que a renda do consumidor, o estímulo ao consumo de um canal avançado mediante o consumo de um canal básico e/ou a dispersão da propensão a pagar justificam a estratégia de oferta mediante pacotes de canais de televisão. Constatamos que o mercado de TV por Assinatura é caracterizado pelo elevado poder de mercado associado à infra-estrutura de distribuição (custo fixo alto), e que a verticalização entre as empresas da cadeia produtiva do mercado audiovisual é um fenômeno comum desse mercado. Identificamos, ainda, que é possível existir práticas discriminatórias mediante imposição de limites ao uso de redes de distribuidora por programadoras rivais. Entretanto, a Integração Vertical pode ser motivada por questões de economias tecnológicas ou ganhos de integração de monopólios sucessivos que levam a ganhos de eficiência econômica no mercado e não configuram, portanto, práticas discriminatórias. Ao analisarmos os principais modelos para análise da estrutura de mercado, identificamos que o papel do custo fixo é determinante para a estrutura do mesmo e o número de firmas no mercado não determina a eficiência.

This thesis investigates the historically composed political and economic contexts that contributed to the late 1990s commercial renaissance of Korean national cinema and that have sustained the popularity of Korean films among local and regional audiences ever since. Unlike existing approaches to the topic, which emphasise the textual characteristics of national film production, this thesis considers relations between film production, distribution, exhibition, and ancillary markets, as well as Korean cinema’s engagement with international cinemas such as Hollywood, Hong Kong, China and Japan. I argue that following the relaxation of restrictive film policy towards the importation and distribution of foreign films between 1986 and 1988, the subsequent failure of the domestic film industry to compete against international competition precipitated a remarkable shift in consensus regarding the industry’s structure and functions. Due to the loss of distribution rights to foreign films and the rapid decline in ticket sales for Korean films, the continued economic viability of local film companies was under enormous threat by the early 1990s. The government reacted by permitting conglomerates to seize control of the industry and pursue vertical and horizontal integration. During the rest of the decade, Korean cinema was transformed from an art cinema to a commercial entertainment cinema. The 1997/98 economic crisis led to the exit of conglomerate finance, but streamlined film companies were able to withstand the monetary meltdown, continue the domestic revitalisation, and, since the late 1990s, build media empires based on the expansion of Korean cinema throughout the Asian region.

Since their early history, television and the media as a whole follow the children’s lives. Initially presenting programs aimed exclusively to adults, the media became a motivating factor of family life, so that children have also become the target audience. In this study, the concepts of child and childhood are taken as social, historical and cultural concepts; therefore, it is of utmost importance to problematize them in order to understand the television influence on children. With the analysis of three programs in different historical moments – Sítio do Pica-Pau Amarelo (Yellow Woodpecker Farm), Vila Sésamo (Sesame Street) and, as a counterpoint, TV Colosso –, the aim is to examine, in the space-time of three decades, how children’s television programs were broadcast, especially in open television. This study addresses the technical aspects of media language and social importance of television in the education of subjects. Children’s programming is therefore a source for understanding the changes and social contradictions experienced in the childhood. Among the categories addressed are television programs, media language, commercial products and children’s consumption, permeated by the concept of childhood and child disseminated through the themes and approaches of the three programs analyzed. Research is based on several sources, such as literature, videos, songs, interviews, testimonials and questionnaires applied to actors who participated in the creation of these programs, based on information and contacts provided by Globo Universidade, among other sources, such as magazine and newspaper articles.
A televisão e os meios de comunicação como um todo, desde seu surgimento, acompanham a vida das crianças. Inicialmente, com programas apenas voltados para adultos, os meios tornaram-se espaço de convivência familiar, de modo que a criança tornou-se também público-alvo. É neste sentido que, neste trabalho, entendemos os conceitos de criança e de infância como sociais, históricos e culturais, sendo de extrema importância a problematização destes para a compreensão da influência televisiva sobre as crianças. Ao analisarmos três programas, de momentos históricos distintos – Sítio do Pica Pau Amarelo, Vila Sésamo e, como contraponto, TV Colosso –, buscamos compreender, no espaço-tempo de três décadas, como foi difundida a programação infantil, em especial na televisão aberta. Abordaremos neste estudo os aspectos técnicos da linguagem midiática e a importância social da televisão na formação dos sujeitos. A programação infantil é, pois, fonte de compreensão das mudanças e contradições sociais vivenciadas pela infância. Dentre as categorias a serem abordadas, elencamos a programação, a linguagem midiática, os produtos comerciais e o consumo infantil, permeados pela concepção de infância e de criança, que buscava-se disseminar com as temáticas e abordagens dos três programas analisados. Esta pesquisa se baseia em fontes diversas, como bibliografia, vídeos, músicas, entrevistas, depoimentos e questionários aplicados aos atores que participaram da constituição desses programas, a partir de informações e contatos fornecidos pelo Globo Universidade, entre outras fontes, como revistas e matérias jornalísticas.

Research is based on several sources, such as literature, videos, songs, interviews, testimonials and questionnaires applied to actors who participated in the creation of these programs, based on information and contacts provided by Globo Universidade, among other sources, such as magazine and newspaper articles.
A televisão e os meios de comunicação como um todo, desde seu surgimento, acompanham a vida das crianças. Inicialmente, com programas apenas voltados para adultos, os meios tornaram-se espaço de convivência familiar, de modo que a criança tornou-se também público-alvo. É neste sentido que, neste trabalho, entendemos os conceitos de criança e de infância como sociais, históricos e culturais, sendo de extrema importância a problematização destes para a compreensão da influência televisiva sobre as crianças. Ao analisarmos três programas, de momentos históricos distintos – Sítio do Pica Pau Amarelo, Vila Sésamo e, como contraponto, TV Colosso –, buscamos compreender, no espaço-tempo de três décadas, como foi difundida a programação infantil, em especial na televisão aberta. Abordaremos neste estudo os aspectos técnicos da linguagem midiática e a importância social da televisão na formação dos sujeitos. A programação infantil é, pois, fonte de compreensão das mudanças e contradições sociais vivenciadas pela infância. Dentre as categorias a serem abordadas, elencamos a programação, a linguagem midiática, os produtos comerciais e o consumo infantil, permeados pela concepção de infância e de criança, que buscava-se disseminar com as temáticas e abordagens dos três programas analisados. Esta pesquisa se baseia em fontes diversas, como bibliografia, vídeos, músicas, entrevistas, depoimentos e questionários aplicados aos atores que participaram da constituição desses programas, a partir de informações e contatos fornecidos pelo Globo Universidade, entre outras fontes, como revistas e matérias jornalísticas.

O presente trabalho apresenta uma experiência clínica em psicanálise como disparadora de reflexões teórico-clínicas acerca da constituição do sujeito e do brincar na atualidade. A presença de imagens de TV, samrtphones, computadores e tablets, na vida dos bebês e das crianças, é um fenômeno bastante amplo e atual. Estes aparatos têm sido ofertados como brinquedos, ou imagens que ocupam um espaço do brincar, e passaram a acompanhar as crianças por todos os lugares, dentro e fora de casa. Quais seriam as implicações dessas novas experiências tecnológicas sobre o brincar, principalmente no que diz respeito de suas funções constitutivas? As formulações sobre as funções constitutivas do brincar a partir de autores da psicanálise que se dedicaram de modo aprofundado ao tema dizem que as operações subjetivantes são necessariamente apoiadas pelo outro humano. Contudo, quando João chegou para análise, suas brincadeiras e discursos diziam de uma relação muito acentuada com o universo das animações e games, além de uma dinâmica que fazia dessas experiências com a tecnologia, sua principal via de acesso ao mundo. Portanto o excesso dessas experiências imagéticas, desde uma idade muito remota, em detrimento de uma interação com o outro humano estaria impactando em processos constitutivos importantes, que podem ser evidenciados e transformados na clínica, na presença do analista
The current work presents a clinical experience in psychoanalysis as a trigger in clinical and theoretical thoughts among the formation of the subject and childs play in present days. The presence of TVs, computers, smartphones and tablets in babies and childrens lives is a wide and current phenomenon. These gadgets have been offered as toys or images that occupy the role of childs play and now accompany children everywhere inside and outside their homes. What would be the implications of these new technological experiences on childs play, and most of all on the constitutive functions? The formulations about the constitutive functions of childs play from psychoanalysis authors that dedicated deeply into this field say that the subjective operations are necessarily supported by another human being. However, when João came for therapy his speeches and childs play would establish a strong connection with the universe of animations and games, beyond a dynamic of those technological experiences, his most usual way of accessing the world. Therefore, the excess of those imagery experiences, since early ages, in detriment of an interaction with another human being would be impacting important constitutive processes, that might be seen and transformed inside the practice, in the presence of a therapist

This thesis deals with the role television plays in the process of socialization young people, focusing the relation between youths and imaginary of peace and the messages transmitted in the soap operas and TV news. This study we carried through individual interviews complemented with the technique of informal quarrel with focal groups to inquire a number of 15 to 24 year-old young people (living of the Village Embratel, a neighborhood of the city of São Luís, capital of the state of Maranhão), about the soap opera Duas Caras and TV news Jornal Nacional . The results of this study show that, these young, even so already bring their own idea of peace, and recognize it in both the soap opera and the TV news; they disclose that the speech of the violence is the one that predominates in these televising sorts. On one hand, this thesis adverts the creators of TV programs to the fundamental role young people have in construction of social imaginary TV programs have in the construction of the social imaginary, particularly in the contemporary societies. This could constitute one of the criteria for the election of the messages to be transmitted for the television, particularly, the soap operas and TV news. On the other hand, it points the absence of research in the area of Social Sciences that approach this theme
Esta tese trata do papel da televisão aberta no processo de socialização dos jovens em geral, enfocando a relação das juventudes e imaginário de paz e as mensagens transmitidas nas telenovelas e telejornais. Neste estudo, foram analisados os depoimentos de jovens com idade entre 15 e 24 anos moradores da Vila Embratel, um bairro da cidade de São Luís, capital do estado do Maranhão. Foram realizadas entrevistas individuais complementadas com a técnica de discussão informal com grupos focais com o objetivo de averiguar como se dava à produção de sentido no processo de recepção da telenovela Duas Caras e do Jornal Nacional , veiculados pela TV Globo Os resultados desse estudo mostram que, esses jovens, embora já tragam consigo a idéia de paz e a reconheçam, tanto na telenovela, quanto no telejornal, revelam que o discurso da violência é o que predomina nesses gêneros televisivos. Esta tese chama a atenção, de um lado, dos responsáveis pelos programas televisivos sobre o papel fundamental das juventudes na construção do imaginário social, principalmente nas sociedades contemporâneas. Este poderia constituir um dos critérios para a seleção das mensagens a serem transmitidas pela televisão aberta, particularmente, as telenovelas e os telejornais. De outro lado, aponta a ausência de pesquisas na área de Ciências Sociais que abordam essas temáticas

In less than ten years, Aljazeera television has become the most popular satellite news service in the Arab world. Regimes around the region have regarded Aljazeera as a threat, while Aljazeera has consistently claimed that it is simply reporting the truth. Notwithstanding this, Aljazeera has successfully established its presence in the media world despite the controversies surrounding its professional approach and the hammering criticism that has been directed to it in both the Middle East and the West. This research explores the thesis that Aljazeera is a catalyst of democratisation and social and political change in the Arab world. As a recent media phenomenon, Aljazeera has been playing a critical role in changing the social and political values of societies in the Arab world and viewers’ perceptions of a range of social and cultural topics relating to human rights, equality, diversity, gender, employment and exploitation. It is said that through its persistent campaigns to raise the awareness of its increasingly broadening viewer base to these issues, Aljazeera has created a new public sphere in the Arab countries that are traditionally and historically non-democratic in the least and despotic and dictatorial in the extreme. It became “[the] arena within which debate occurs...” (Hartley, 2002, p.191) between viewers who share in the process of discourse to communicate and debate. In this context Aljazeera provided a public forum for Arab viewers to express their views and address a range of sensitive and controversial issues. Consequently, it is the perception of democracy that Aljazeera seems to be fostering in the Arab world, which is leading to a sense of empowerment at the individual level. The research sought to examine this phenomenon through a field study that garnered vital data from a representative sample of 600 viewers of Aljazeera, including 100 media professionals, in four Arab countries: Egypt, Jordan, United Arab Emirates, and Qatar, and amongst the Arab diaspora (with the Australian Arabs as a focus group). The data was analysed against a media model that was developed specifically for that purpose. The findings support the research hypothesis that Aljazeera is a catalyst of democratisation and socio-political change.

Afin de permettre au systeme visuel humain d'integrer la modulation temporelle de l'affichage. Ce changement de cadence au sein du recepteur autorise des modifications du format de l'information correspondant a la conservation ou non de l'entrelacement des trames. La phase essentielle du calcul reside dans l'adaptation du traitement applique au point courant en fonction de l'information sur le mouvement dans l'image obtenue par detection inter et intra-image. La caracterisation des differents traitements analyses est faite sur des criteres objectifs. Comme le calcul de spectre et par appreciation de l'aspect subjectif des images restituees a l'aide d'un banc de simulation

This study examined TV coverage of terrorism from Al-Jazeera and Al-Arabiya using media framing analysis. The study attempted to address two main objectives. These objectives are exploring the terrorism issues in both Arabic news channels under the period of study and the extent to which the two networks differ or agree; and identifying the factors that might have influenced each of these two news providers’ news selection processes and the framing of terrorism on broadcast networks. Using a framing approach, this study initially used content analysis to examine a number of framing devices based on past literature such as types of news frames, framing perspective, geographical location of terrorism coverage, sources used, perpetrators of terrorism, victims of terrorism, episodic versus thematic frame, and responsibility frames. Furthermore, discourse analysis was applied to understand the link between discursive practice and the broader social and cultural developments and structures. Language extracts taken from both TV networks’ broadcasts were compared, taking into consideration different contextual factors that contribute to the production and consumption of news discourse about terrorism. This study found that the stereotype that ‘the terrorist is a Muslim’ prevailed in the news coverage that was analysed. Furthermore, contrary to the pattern among western news sources, both networks were consistent in at least implying that the majority of terrorism victims are Muslims. In addition, the findings reveal that too much media focus was placed on disseminating and supporting official positions and decisions, and that humanitarian suffering from terrorism is seldom brought to the attention of the public.

I denna uppsats tittar jag närmare på webb-tv och hur användningen av detta medium har utvecklats under de senaste åren. Jag har valt att studera SVT Play eftersom de är störst och att SVT var först av de stora tv-kanalerna i Sverige med en play-tjänst. Med hjälp av Jay David Bolters och Richard Grusins teser kring remediering, Marshall McLuhans filosofiska grunder kring medier, kopplar jag ihop dagens användning av webben som ett tv-medium tillsammans med Pelle Snickars teorier som ger en nutida svensk kontext. Huvuddelen av uppsatsen består av en analys av webb-tv-statistik från 2011 fram till och med första kvartalet 2016. Majoriteten av statistiken kommer från MMS som ansvarar för tv- och webb-tv-mätningar i Sverige. Uppsatsens statistikgenomgång görs utifrån ett helårsperspektiv, månadsperspektiv och ett programspecifikt perspektiv. Programmet jag valt är På spåret och hur webb-tv- publiken till detta program förändrats sedan 2011. Här gör jag även en jämförelse med linjär-tv-tittandet för att se om respektive medium påverkar det andra. På spåret har under de senaste fem säsongerna haft en stabil tv-publik via linjär-tv, med ett tittarsnitt på omkring 2,5 miljoner per avsnitt. Webb-tv-tittandet har däremot ökat kraftigt från och med 2013, vilket samtidigt visar att det är ett medium som kommer att fortsätta växa under de närmsta åren.

Since a few years back television has been on a verge of an enormous digital change. Web-TV is now growing at an incredible rate and is said to completely change the way we consume TV. The purpose of this essay is to determine and gain an understanding of how representatives of the broadcast industry looks at the phenomenon of web-TV and especially the different kinds of online video services and how they believe this will affect the television. Methods used are qualitative interviews which we compared with previous studies on the subject and acknowledged communication theories. The respondents were people with good insight and understanding of the media and TV industry. Some of the conclusions made are that the representatives believe television needs to be redefined and that there has been a shift in power in favor for the viewers. We have also seen that the representatives believe TV consumption now is more flexible where it’s no longer bound to a specific time and place.

Little attention has been paid to the rhetorical practices and implications of reality television within the field of rhetoric and composition. In fact, it is easy to argue that television as a whole has been largely ignored, leaving the research to scholars in media, communication, and cultural studies. However, the convergence of media has raised questions about the nature of the viewing practices of contemporary television audiences--specifically regarding how to reconcile the complex texts audiences produce in response to television with the passive model of consumption that has defined it. Game scholars, as well as scholars of computers and composition, have theorized the powerful rhetorical potential of play with regard to video games, but they have yet to consider the way play has been invoked in other more traditional media. Therefore, this dissertation seeks to connect old media and new by considering how television, specifically reality TV, engages audiences across platforms, how audiences extend their own experience with reality programs, and what this might mean to rhetoric and composition scholars about contemporary literacy practices. In this dissertation, I argue that reality television has successfully used rhetorics of play and new media technologies to engage audiences within, across, and between programs and their digital environments. Using Survivor as a case study, I analyze the strategies that producers use to invite audiences into the program, specifically focusing on the generic characteristics that instigate play, the program's online presence, and the ways in which viewers respond by producing their own texts such as fantasy Survivor games, blogs, discussion forums, and video mash-ups. By doing so, I demonstrate how reality TV and new media technology have renegotiated the relationship among producers, audiences, and texts. Significantly, viewers become active participants with, as well as producers of, texts. Additionally, I use this research to study how play encourages self-motivated writing, community building, and the possible uses for "serious play" within the composition classroom.

This thesis investigates the aesthetic interpretation of learning processes in television produced and broadcast in Sweden between 1956 and 1969. The thesis explores how these programmes are linked to concepts of Bildung by their aesthetics, by which the intangible cultural heritage is entrusted in the form of oral and visual traditions, storytelling and games/play, where learning is the common denominator. The programmes are divided into three categories: aesthetics of attentiveness, aesthetics of tale/storytelling and aesthetics of play. The detailed, thick, descriptions of the programmes emanating from the close-readings shall be, together with the aesthetic categories that I have formulated and expressed in a model, regarded as the survey’s key findings. The starting point of the central theoretical model of the thesis is André Malraux’s idea of an imaginary museum of imagination in which photo reproductions can constitute a collective memory, and thus bepart of an intangible heritage. Based on this idea of ​​an imaginary museum, I have constructed a conceptual model called a medial museum, valid in its own time as well as for posterity. The theoretical models that the study gain support from are characterized by phenomenological and hermeneutical perspectives, as I refer to  a phenomenological-hermeneutical method when analysing the programmes, and at the same time underline the phenomenological-hermeneutically based aesthetics in the analysed programmes, where aesthetic interpretation of learning processes in terms of attentiveness, tale and play is of a phenomenological-hermeneutic character. For a broad perspective on learning processes, theoretical support is acquired both from the German philosopher Hans-Georg Gadamer and his hermeneutic of traditions and from the French philosopher Jacques Rancière and his emancipatory ideas of pedagogy and aesthetics. Furthermore, the French philosopher Paul Ricœur and his thoughts on importance of storytelling for knowledge formation have had significant influence on the work. Regarding the concepts of play, I have made use of both Gadamer’s ideas of ​​art experience as play and of Donald W. Winnicott’s theories about play as transitional area. In the programmes’ aesthetics is found a depiction of a broadened interpretation of Bildung, where processes of learning comprise a direct sensual perceiving, attentiveness, storytelling/tale and play. Moreover, within the programmes’ managing of an intangible cultural heritage, I have found an expression of an interplay between modernity and tradition, with emphasis on the historical significance of the present, and rooting in the past of everyday life, where expectation on the future and the memory of the past can co-exist. To summarise, the study suggests the possibility to understand aesthetics as an epistemology using sensuous experience as basis for a conceptual knowledge about how to understand the world. Thereby, one can comprehend aesthetics as pedagogy per se.

Con questa tesi si è voluto evidenziare lo stretto rapporto di dipendenza delle aziende televisive con gli eventi sportivi al fine di poter guadagnare fette di mercato e quindi posizione strategiche rispetto ai concorrenti. Tra le aziende televisive e il settore sportivo c'è quindi un rapporto mezzo/contenuto decisamente complementare. Nessuno dei due può fare a meno dell'altro. Da una parte, come evidenziato, le emittenti televisive, durante la messa in onda di eventi sportivi, registrano elevati livelli di audience e ciò costituisce la "cassa di risonanza" preferita dagli sponsor. Dall'altra parte lo sport, che anno dopo anno ha visto aumentare la propria dipendenza dai network dal momento che la cessione dei diritti televisivi è diventata una delle maggiori fonti di reddito per le società sportive.

Le phénomène des télévisions satellitaires a fait son apparition dans le monde arabe en 1990-1991. Date de l’instauration du Nouvel Ordre Mondial. Une progression foisonnante s’est produite, par la suite, profitant d’un espace géolinguistique étendu, d’une ouverture sans précédent et d’un financement généreux. Sont-elles l’expression d’un changement ou bien celle d’une adaptation ? Et au service de qui ? L’étude des chaines d’information en continu Al Jazeera, Al Arabiya ou « flexibles », Abou Dhabi et Al Manar est particulièrement intéressante pour répondre à cette question. Comprendre le fond de ce phénomène, les intérêts qu’il représente, qu’il sert, et les limites du changement qu’il est capable de produire, exige de dresser un état des lieux panoramique, une étude de la géopolitique qui a donné lieu à la naissance de ces télévisions, et qui a dicté les évolutions qu’elles ont subit. The introduction of colour television in the 1950's was an impressive achievement producing a full colour picture on new receivers whilst maintaining substantially complete compatibility with monochrome receivers. This was achieved by placing two colour difference signals on top of the existing monochrome (luminance) signal. The disadvantage of the technique was the lack of full separability of the signals in the receiver, resulting in signal cross-effects and some loss of picture quality. Although acceptable at the time of introduction improving source quality (due to improved cameras, digital sources, and improved recording) coupled with increasing quality expectations has caused these artefacts to become more noticeable and less acceptable. Consequently considerable work in the last twenty five years has concentrated on finding improved encoding and decoding techniques for creating compatible PAL signals. Unfortunately until very recently with the introduction of PAL plus no satisfactory solution had been agreed upon. Work in the field has been made difficult through the complexities of the multi-dimensional PAL signal, the lack of common framework, and the difficulty of assessment and comparison. This thesis provides new work in several areas in the field of enhanced-PAL coding including: i) the development of a complete multi-dimensional representation for a television coding system, ii) the description of a new technique for determining the spatio-temporal characteristics of coding systems, iii) the description and application of a new approach to objective quality assessment, and iv) the detailed study of a new improved PAL coding technique. This thesis also i) provides comprehensive background on the multi-dimensional interpretation of the PAL signal and television coding techniques, ii) develops a model for the human visual system chrominance threshold response, iii) places all current enhanced PAL coding techniques into a common theoretical framework, and iv) provides a detailed mathematical analysis of WC-PAL. Work on all these areas was greatly assisted through the development by the author of a multi-dimensional graphical interface (PHIGSdraw) and image processing system (TVPROC).

Resumo: Neste trabalho, apresentam-se estudos relacionados com a redução da taxa de bits de transmissão do sinal digital de televisão P AL - M (Phase Alternation Line-Padrão M), adotado no Brasil, através da simulação em computador, de um sistema de redução de taxa que usa a técnica MCPD (Modulação por Código de Pulso Diferencial), baseado em uma arquitetura de dois canais, utilizando o padrão de campo quincunx. Foram implementados alguns preditores baseados no mosaico de fase das amostras, obtido com a frequência de amostragem ¿f IND. alfa¿ = ¿4 f IND. SC¿ (¿f IND. SC é a frequência da subportadora de cor), com o objetivo de se fazer a previsão correta em áreas uniformes e alcançar a taxa desejada de 34 e 68 Mbit/s compatíveis com a terceira hierarquia MCP padronizado pelo CCIR. Foram estudados também, alguns quantizadores não lineares eficientes. São apresentados ainda, aspectos relevantes relacionados com os filtros digitais do tipo FIR (Finite Impulse Response) utilizados na composição e decomposição de sinais de Televisão. Outros modelos foram também estudados para efeito comparativo. Realizou-se simulações com os modelos, utilizando-se sinais padronizados pelo CCIR e pela SMPTE, para análises objetivas e subjetivas dos resultados, principalmente em termos de entropia, taxa de bits, relação sinal/ruído e visualização dos sinais recuperados

O estudo da participação de agentes religiosos no espaço político institucionalizado ganha força no cenário público devido ao aumento no número de parlamentares eleitos ligados a denominações religiosas. Propõe-se a analisar como agentes do campo religioso assumiram espaços no campo político a fim de participarem do campo midiático por meio da análise da tramitação da Lei da TV Paga, que obrigou a inclusão de emissoras de cunho religioso no sistema fechado de televisão. Discutiu-se as relações entre a religião e o Estado moderno brasileiro, com base nas noções de secularização e da relação histórica entre o poder público e a Igreja Católica, bem como a ocupação de espaços midiáticos por denominações representadas no campo político. Analisou-se os impactos da lei a partir da tramitação até o estágio atual de pesquisas sobre o tema, além dos métodos empregados na realização desta pesquisa, e o discurso de parlamentares que atuaram diretamente na feitura do texto constitucional. Concluiuse que a participação de agentes religiosos, inseridos no campo político, durante a tramitação da lei, faz parte de uma estratégia de garantia de espaços no campo midiático, envoltos no cenário plural e de disputas entre as religiões no Brasil.
The study of the participation of religious agents in the institutionalized political space gains force in the public scenario when the number of elected members of religious institutions increases. We propose to analyze how agents of the religious field assumed spaces in the political field in order to participate in the media field by analyzing the process of the Pay TV Law, which forced the inclusion of religious stations in the closed television system. We discuss the relations between religion and the modern Brazilian state, based on the notions of secularization and the historical relation between the public power and the Catholic Church, as well as the occupation of media spaces by institutions represented in the political field. We analyze the impacts of the law from the processing to the current stage of research on the subject, in addition to the methods used to carry out this research, and the speech of parliamentarians who acted directly in the making of the constitutional text. We conclude that the participation of religious agents, inserted in the political field, during the course of the law, is part of a strategy of guaranteeing spaces in the media field, wrapped in the plural scenario and disputes between religions in Brazil.

Nous avons analyse les multiples aspects des publicites televisees europeennes et paneuropeennes pour reveler les caracteristiques de publicite televisee nationale europeenne et de la publicite televisee pan-europeenne d'une part, d'autre part pour valider des styles creatifs veritablement pan-europeens. Apres avoir analyse environ 600 spots televises, nous avons obtenu les conclusions suivantes :l'humour est le type dominant dans la strategie de l'execution creative de la publicite nationale europeenne et pan-europeenne. La publicite pan-europeenne est beaucoup plus axee sur les effets visuels que la publicite nationale. L'emotion est plus important que l'information dans les publicites nationales europeennes et surtout pan-europeennes. La musique est plus importante dans les publicites pan-europeennes que dans les publicites nationales europeennes. La creativite europeenne est egalement caracterisee par la reduction des dialogues ou par les publicites non-verbales. A travers ces resultats, nous avons constate qu'il existe les differences claires entre la creation publicitaire au niveau national europeen et au niveau pan-europeen. Les tendances actuelles de la strategie creative des publicites televisees pan-europeennes sont : l'humour forte, << l'emotion forte >>, le << visuel fort >> et l'importance de la musique.

Cette thèse montre, par l’étude de la nouvelle visibilité des femmes dans les programmes des chaînes satellitaires, comment la télévision contribue à l’hybridation socioculturelle, à l’acculturation et à l’incorporation sélective des valeurs et des normes de genre. Il s’agit dans un premier temps d’un travail de contextualisation de la complexité des représentations des femmes à la télévision depuis la diffusion satellitaire, à partir d’une étude comparative des scènes télévisuelles entre cinq pays arabes: le Liban, la Tunisie, l’Égypte, le Qatar et les Émirats-Arabes-Unis. Dans un second temps, l’analyse de 77 entretiens avec des présentatrices des 18 chaînes satellitaires dans les pays ciblés, se focalise sur les processus de féminisation et de professionnalisation du métier de présentatrice, qui sont des facteurs majeurs non seulement dans la construction de la diversité des images et des modèles féminins véhiculés par la télévision, mais aussi dans les transformations de la perception des femmes et de leurs rôles dans la société. À travers cette diversité ambivalente, voire même contradictoire, la télévision contribue à introduire de l’incohérence et de l’hybridité stimulant l’imagination des téléspectateurs, particulièrement sur le plan de leur conception des rôles des hommes et des femmes. C’est précisément sur cette dimension que s’étudie la troisième partie de la thèse. Celle-ci s’appuie sur les études des expériences de réceptions auprès de 66 participants et participantes à 16 séances de focus groups réalisées essentiellement au Liban. Ce corpus avec lequel nous interrogeons les rôles et les imaginaires de genre est un moyen privilégié pour saisir les enjeux de la globalisation télévisuelle et de la « modernité » dans les sociétés arabes contemporaines
The new visibility of women on Satellite TV Channels is the product of transformations of the media landscape. The explosion of Arab Satellite Channels (ASC) since 1990 have allowed women in the Arab World to be present in a wide range of media professions, particularly TV anchor. Today, we can notice a diversity of women anchor’s figures after the emergence of many specialized and generalized satellite channels. Indeed, women are present in news, social and political talk shows, sport, religion, fashion, food, and reporting. Some of those figures outcome of political, social and economic logic of specific national context (Egypt, Tunisia and Saudi Arabia), while others are the result of professionalism competition of channels and subjective experience of women anchors-as new actors on ASC- in transnational context (Lebanon, Qatar and Dubai). A key factor in this new configuration of women’s visibility on Arab media landscape is the transgressing of the traditional male domain. Indeed, many women anchors proved impressive strides in debate TV programs and reporting. Based on their professional experience, high education and talents, they proved to be equal to men and sometimes more effective and influential. Women anchor’s new visibility in ASC affects women’s professional situation, shapes gender relationships, women’s participation in the public sphere, and family’s perceptions and retention of women into Arab Societies

Cette thèse concerne l'investigation détaillée du problème du temps de zapping dans les réseaux d'opérateurs offrant un service IPTY basé sur la technologie multicast. Cette investigation a conduit à plusieurs contributions qui permettent de substantiellement améliorer le temps de zapping dans ce type de réseau. Notre première contribution concerne la partie purement réseau. Nous avons proposé d'optimiser le processus de changement de chaîne et ceci pour chaque version du protocole IGMP. Cette optimisation réduit la latence due au réseau sans pour autant augmenter la consommation de bande passante d'une manière significative. Nous avons modélisé le service IPTV Multicast pour estimer les pics de consommation de la bande passante pour permettre à l'opérateur de dimensionner son réseau. La deuxième contribution concerne la partie traitement du flux IPTV par le récepteur. Dans cette partie, nous avons proposé d'associer au flux principal un flux secondaire, version retardée du principal. La construction du flux secondaire se fait en donnant une priorité élevée aux paquets transportant des éléments d'une I-Frame par rapport à d'autres types d'éléments (P­ Frame, B-Frame, Voix et Data). Cette nouvelle règle de construction permet de réduire le délai d'attente de la première I­Frame nécessaire pour commencer la phase de décodage tout en réduisant le temps de remplissage du buffer. Dans un environnement réel, nous avons évalué cette contribution et constaté une réduction remarquable du temps de zapping
This thesis involves a detailed investigation of the problem of IPTV zapping time in networks of operators providing IPTV service based on multicast technology. This investigation led to some contributions that can substantially improve the channel change time in this type of network.Our first contribution concerns the pure network. We proposed an optimization of the channels changing process for each version of the IGMP protocol. This optimization reduces network latency without significantly increasing the bandwidth consumption. We proposed also a model of multicast IPTV service that we used to estimate the maximum bandwidth demand. This model enables the operator to size the bandwidth availability in its network.The second contribution relates to the processing part of stream IPTV on the receiver. In this section, we proposed to combine the main flow to a secondary flow, delayed version of the main stream. The construction of the secondary stream is clone by giving high priority to packets carrying elements of an I-frame compared to other types of elements (P-Frame, B­-Frame, Voice and Data). This rule of construction can reduce the First I-Frame Delay required to start the decoding phase and at the same time reduce the Buffering Delay. In a real environment, we evaluated this contribution and measured a remarkable decline of the zapping time with our proposal

The research investigates the portrayals of the Bahian and of Bahia on television in the context of television fiction, from local marks of the oral culture and the thematic approaches. The corpus is the TV series called "Ó Pai Ó" aired by the Globo network during two seasons, in 2008 and 2009. The analysis focuses on the whole series, but especially on the episodes called "White Market (Mercado Branco)", "Tacky (Brega)" and "Crooked Business (Negócio Torto) of the first season, and "I Want to see the Bahia Tremble (Quero ver a Bahia Tremer"), of the second season because they are considered emblematic of the issues studied. The research examines the script, the dramatic situations and the themes, linking them with the video performance - from the actors to the montage - besides the discourses construction of the press. The research problematic presented is how the representations of the Bahian and of Bahia are constructed, with the aim of identifying its semiotic and cultural mechanisms. It was concluded that the thematic approach is given in a complex way, using the portrayal types, environments and recurring situations from the imagery of Bahia for comic effect and the critical irony of stereotypes and political issues. Regarding a esthetics, there is a difficulty to transpose elements of the local culture to the audiovisual language, which was mainly analyzed from the point of view of the rhythm in Meschonnic. The analysis dialogues with researches of television play-writing, portrayal, history and culture of Bahia as well as orality. As a theoretical basis, we rely on semiotic studies related to culture and language, starting from concepts of Iuri Lotman, as a semiosphere - delimited space where the meanings happen as well as the orality concept in Paul Zumthor. It is taken into account the history of the texts and their relation to the theater and cinema, considering the object as the product of intersemiotic translation, concept worked by Julio Plaza. Likewise, it is an approach with authors of the Bahian anthropology, as Ubiratan Castro and Milton Moura, among others. The methodology used is an analytical study based on semiotics and on the other mentioned theories. It is a transdisciplinary perspective between language studies and communication studies
A pesquisa investiga as representações do baiano e da Bahia na televisão no contexto de teleficção, a partir das marcas locais da cultura oral e de abordagens temáticas. O corpus é a série de TV Ó Paí, Ó , exibida pela Rede Globo em duas temporadas, em 2008 e 2009. A análise centra-se em toda a série, mas especialmente nos episódios Mercado Branco , Brega e Negócio Torto , da primeira temporada, e Quero Ver a Bahia Tremer , da segunda temporada por serem considerados emblemáticos das questões centrais. A investigação examina o roteiro, as situações dramáticas e os temas, relacionando-os com a performance em vídeo - desde a dos atores até a de montagem - além da construção de discursos na imprensa. Apresentou-se como problema de pesquisa o modo como são construídas as representações do baiano e da Bahia, com o objetivo de identificar seus mecanismos semióticos e culturais. Concluiu-se que a abordagem temática se dá de modo complexo, usando a apresentação de tipos, ambientes e situações recorrentes do imaginário da Bahia para efeito de comicidade e ironia crítica de estereótipos e temas políticos. Em relação à estética, há um apuro no sentido de transpor elementos da cultura local para a linguagem audiovisual, o que foi analisado principalmente do ponto de vista do ritmo em Meschonnic. A análise dialoga com pesquisas de teledramaturgia, representação, história e cultura da Bahia e oralidade. Como base teórica, apoiamo-nos estudos semióticos ligados à cultura e à linguagem, partindo de conceitos de Iuri Lotman, como a semiosfera - espaço delimitado onde acontecem as significações - e também o conceito de oralidade em Paul Zumthor. É levado em conta o histórico dos textos e suas relações com o teatro e o cinema, considerando o objeto como produto de tradução intersemiótica, conceito trabalhado por Julio Plaza. Do mesmo modo, faz-se uma aproximação com autores da antropologia baiana, como Ubiratan Castro e Milton Moura, entre outros. A metodologia utilizada é de estudo analítico com base na semiótica e nas demais teorias citadas. Trata-se de uma perspectiva transdisciplinar entre os estudos da linguagem e da comunicação

Cette thèse a pour objectif de faire la lumière sur l'acquisition d'une langue étrangère en autonomie par la télévision. Elle s'inscrit dans deux champs de recherche, celui de la didactique des langues et celui de la psychologie cognitive. Elle s'appuie sur l ' étude de spectateurs tunisiens qui ont acquis l'italien par la simple exposition à la chaîne italienne Rai Uno et sur une expérimentation menée auprès de jeunes enfants. Des tests [CELI1] ont montré que ces spectateurs ont pu acquérir un niveau intermédiaire en italien malgré l'absence d'enseignement et d'interaction. L'analyse qualitative des entretiens a montré que l'exposition à une langue étrangère par la télévision s'accompagne d'un apprentissage implicite de cette langue, que l'acquisition de celle-ci est le résultat d'une exposition prolongée et qu'elle fait développer davantage des compétences de compréhension que des compétences de production. L'expérimentation menée auprès des enfants a confirmé ces résultats. L'ensemble de ces données a également montré la validité des hypothèses de Krashen concernant la primauté de l'acquisition sur l'apprentissage, l'importance des inputs compréhensibles et l'effet du filtre affectif
This thesis aims to shed light on the fact to acquire a foreign language autonomously by watching television. It comes according to two fields of research that are “the didactic of languages” and the “cognitive psychology”. This thesis is based on a survey of Tunisian spectators who have acquired the Italian language by watching the Italian channel Rai Uno and also experimentation conducted with young children. Indeed, the acquisitions of language by the spectators are real despite the absence of education and interaction. They were evaluated by tests [CELI1] which have shown that these viewers have an intermediate level in Italian language. Qualitative analysis of interviews showed that exposure to a foreign language television is accompanied by an implicit learning of the language. The acquisition of the latter is the result of a long exposure and it is further developing the understanding skills than the production skills. Together, these data also showed the validity of Krashen hypothesis regarding the primacy of the acquisition to the learning, the importance of understandable inputs and the impact of the emotional filter

Le travail presente s'insere dans le cadre des recherches menees au sein de l'equipe robotique du laas sur le robot hilare. Il est consacre a la perception et a la modelisation geometrique de l'environnement. L'approche proposee est basee sur la stereovision passive. Les segments de contour extraits de deux images stereoscopiques sont mis en correspondance par un algorithme de prediction-verification d'hypotheses. Apres calibration des cameras, ces segments sont localises dans l'espace 3d et utilises pour la modelisation geometrique de la scene. Les plans verticaux sont tout d'abord extraits par une methode de prediction-verification. Les zones complexes de l'environnement sont ensuite circoncrites par des enveloppes polygonales. Une carte planaire de l'espace occupe, dediee au systeme de navigation, est ainsi construite. L'integration de ces algorithmes a un systeme de perception multisensoriel incluant un telemetre laser et un module de vision dynamique est enfin presentee

La these touche la conception, le developpement et l'implantation d'environnements interactifs d'apprentissage distribue (eiad). Ces environnements visent a rendre possibles la mise en communication continue d'etudiants localises en des endroits differents et disponibles a divers moments, ainsi que la formation de reseaux d'echanges entre des groupes d'etudiants, stimulant ainsi la communication intellectuelle de l'apprenant avec ses pairs. De maniere plus precise, la these tente de demontrer qu'il est possible de concevoir un systeme d'aide, a la fois convivial et efficace, destine aux facilitateurs de tout genre qui interviennent dans un processus d'apprentissage cooperatif a distance. Un tel systeme devrait permettre, a tout instant, a la personne en situation de leadership et placee devant un probleme relie au processus de teleapprentissage, de beneficier d'un soutien par un acces direct a ce systeme d'aide concu a son intention et en fonction de ses besoins. Les travaux qui ont ete menes portent sur la conception d'un environnement de support a l'apprentissage cooperatif, dans un contexte d'encadrement pedagogique assiste par des reseaux d'ordinateurs, en formation a distance. Ils proposent un modele de support a l'apprentissage cooperatif base sur une cooperation entre des agents intelligents. Ce modele repose sur une explicitation du role de leader, qui peut etre assigne a un agent facilitateur, et du contexte dans lequel s'exerce ce leadership. De prime abord, le leader se presente comme une ressource d'aide interne ou externe a un groupe, jouant un role facilitant dans l'integration des apprenants a un groupe d'apprentissage. En agissant ainsi, le leader tente d'assurer la contribution de chacun dans l'atteinte des objectifs d'apprentissage que le groupe s'est fixes, par des activites de discussion et de production de groupe. L'originalite du modele reside dans le fait qu'il est oriente non pas vers l'aide apportee a l'etudiant mais plutot vers celle qui est mise a la disposition de toutes les ressources facilitant l'apprentissage, en groupe et a distance, dans un contexte d'encadrement pedagogique assiste par ordinateur
Our thesis concerns design, development and implementation of distributed learning interactive environments. These environments aim to support continuing communication among students who are in different locations and available at various moments, as well as the development of exchange networks between groups of students, thereby stimulating the learner's intellectual communication with his peers. More precisely, the thesis attempts to demonstrate that it is possible to design a user-friendly and efficient help system for the use of any type of facilitators who intervene in a cooperative distance learning process. A person who is in a leadership situation and faced with a problem related to the telelearning process should, at all time, benefit from some support through direct access to this help system that was designed for him and according to his needs. The work done involves the design of a cooperative learning support environment, within the context of pedagogical management assisted by computer networks, in distance education. It proposes a cooperative learning support model based on intelligent agents cooperation. This model rests on the clarification of the leader's role which may be assigned to a facilitator agent, and on the context where this leadership is carried out. At first glance, the leader presents himself as a help resource inside or outside a group, who plays a facilitating role as regards learners integration into a learning group. By acting this way, the leader tries to ensure everyone's contribution in meeting learning objectives set by the group, through group discussion and production activities. The originality of this model resides in the fact that it is oriented towards the help that is made available to all resources that facilitate distance and group learning in a context of computer-assisted pedagogical management, rather than towards the help brought to the student

More and more people choose to watch television online through online video-on- demand services. For media corporations, such as the Modern Times Group (MTG), this means that video-on-demand will become an increasingly important source of revenue. Because video-on-demand is an online service, advertising products offered therein are in competition with other online advertising products. Currently, MTG’s video-on-demand advertising products are the same as on regular television, meaning they haven’t yet taken advantage of any advertising product development opportunities made possible by Internet technology. The purpose of this thesis is therefore to determine what MTG’s strategy should be to improve the competitiveness and revenue of their video-on-demand advertising products, and what key concerns need to be addressed in order to realize the determined strategy. By request of the commissioner, MTG, possible uses of segmentation to achieve the strategy are studied. The methods used to collect data include multiple interviews both at MTG and at their current advertising customers, as well as web analytics and a questionnaire. Both qualitative and quantitative analysis was used to answer the research questions. Findings suggest that MTG should strive to improve the engagement of their advertising products, through the use of contextual segmentation and self-segmentation. This goes against the current trend in online advertising, where segmentation is primarily used for ad targeting. The reason for not adhering to the trend is that MTG’s advertising customers operate in a television mindset, where ad targeting is of a very limited nature and engagement is of greater perceived value.

Resumo: O presente trabalho está dividido em 4 capítulos que tratam de uma proposta de modificação do esquema MCPD ("Modulação por Código de pulsos Diferencial) a fim de se digitalizar um sinal de televisão comercial PAL-M. A taxa-meta para codificação do sinal de vídeo deve ser compatível com aquela usada nos sistemas de transmissão que trabalham com feixes de 34 Mbit/s.No Cap.I descrevem-se as motivações e as limitações deste estudo. Faz -se também uma descrição geral dos objetivos, ressaltando-se a importância da redução da taxa de bits. No Cap.II descreve-se o sistema proposto e apresenta-s O equacionamento pertinente ao modelo do esquema bem como as discussões com relação às implicações que acarretam as modificações propostas. Realiza-se também uma discussão sobre os preditores e os quantizadores a serem usados para redução da taxa de bits. No Cap.III modela-se o sistema para simulação e escolhem-se os parâmetros de avaliação objetiva do desempenho do sistema ressaltando-se também a importância da avaliação subjetiva da qualidade do sinal recuperado.No Cap.IV analisam-se' os resultados obtidos através de Simulações e apresentam-se as conclusões. A ênfase é dada nas obtenções da relação sinal/ruído do sinal recuperado bem como da entropia do sinal transmitido

La tesi si propone di indagare il processo di “ludicizzazione del reale”, cui viene dedicata sempre maggiore attenzione negli studi mediali contemporanei. Tale processo si declina in forme diverse, passando indiscriminatamente dall'idea di gamification, legata al marketing e all’affermazione del potere del gioco in senso pervasivo e critico, alla più ampia considerazione dell’universo mediale contemporaneo come ambiente ideale per il realizzarsi di un fare “ludico”. Si procederà dunque a un'osservazione morfologica di stampo sociosemiotico del fenomeno, utilizzando al contempo i contemporanei studi mediologici sulla transmedialità e gli ecosistemi, la semiotica esperienziale e le teorie del gioco tradizionali. Scopo finale sarà quello di distinguere caratteristiche oggettive e soggettive, affordance e utilizzi specifici del gioco: da un lato presentando una serie di nodi che problematizzino la definizione generale di “ludico” attraverso il riconoscimento dei suoi tratti a livello transmediale e storico; dall’altro ipotizzando una possibile descrizione della situazione contemporanea attraverso l'idea di “semi-ludico” e l'analisi di alcuni casi di studio significativi che evidenzino come il processo di “semi-ludicizzazione” rinunci alla natura processuale ed emergente del gioco in favore di rigide strutture formali.
Aim of this work is to further observe the process of “ludicization of the real” described by many contemporary media studies. This kind of process takes different forms: from the concept of “gamification”, connected to marketing strategies and to the critical and pervasive power of play, to a broader idea of contemporary mediascape as the ideal context for ludic practices. We propose a morphological observation of socio-semiotics kind, using at the same time works on transmediality and ecosystems, studies of semiotics of experience and traditional game theories. The final objective will be to distinguish different qualities, affordances and specific uses of the “game/play” dichotomy: on the one hand presenting a series of critical nodes that call into question the general definition of “ludic” through the recognition of its traits in a transmedial and historical context; on the other hand hypothesizing a description of the contemporary media environment through the concept of “semi-ludic” and the analysis of twenty meaningful case studies that demonstrate how the “semi-ludicization” process rejects the emergent and processual nature of play in favor of rigid and formal structures.

Cette recherche porte sur les usages de l’audiovisuel éducatif par les enseignants. Elle s’inscrit dans le cadre théorique de la sociologie des usages, pour autant, l’objet de recherche au cœur de cette thèse est au croisement de l’audiovisuel et des enjeux éducatif. Il s’agit donc de développer une approche communicationnelle des outils et médias éducatifs, telle que la définit Pierre Moeglin (2005). La première étape de ce travail consiste à mettre en évidence les éléments qui configurent l’usage, notamment du côté des acteurs : nous proposons une archéologie de l’audiovisuel éducatif, puis nous revenons sur l’offre actuelle en matière d’audiovisuel éducatif et plus particulièrement sur lesite.tv, premier service numérique de vidéo éducative à la demande. La deuxième étape se focalise davantage sur les usages à proprement parler. Après avoir étudié l’utilisation du site.tv au moyen de données quantitatives, nous observons dans quelle mesure les représentations que les concepteurs se font des usagers participent de la configuration des usages. Ces derniers sont analysés à travers le discours d’enseignants usagers et non-usagers, via une série d’entretiens compréhensifs. Les portraits d’usagers, puis l’analyse transversale des entretiens, permettent d’évaluer les «renoncements négociés » qui se manifestent à travers l'usage de l'audiovisuel. Somme toute, cette recherche interroge la tension que l’usage de l’audiovisuel éducatif instaure entre logiques éducatives et médiatiques. Il convoque à ce titre les enjeux relatifs à une certaine industrialisation de l’éducation ; et du côté audiovisuel, les perspectives relatives aux écritures transmédiatiques
This research focuses on the uses of educational audiovisual by teachers. It falls within the theoretical framework of the sociology of uses, however, the research object at the heart of this work is at the intersection of audiovisual and educational issues. Therefore, it aims to develop a communicationnal approach of educational tools and media, as defined by Pierre Moeglin (2005). The first stage of this work tries to highlight the elements that configure the use, regarding the side of actors. First, we propose an archeology of educational audiovisual, then, we return to the current offer in terms of educational audiovisual and specifically on the content proposed by the first digital educational video on demand for teachers, lesite.tv. The second phase focuses more on the uses itself. After studying the use of lesite.tv, using quantitative data, we see how far the representations of designers are part of the user configuration uses. These are analyzed through the speeches of users and non-users teachers, within a series of comprehensive interviews. The realization of som user’s portraits and cross-sectional analysis of the interviews, allows to evaluate the "negotiated renunciations" that occur within the class, regarding to the professional identity of teachers, refering to public and private spheres and, finally, facing the so called "digital conversion". Overall, this research questions the tension that the use of educational audiovisual established between educational and media logics. It carries as such issues related to the industrialization of education ; and towards audiovisual, transmedia prospects

Cette etude a pour objet d'etudier les erreurs residuelles dans une diffusion numerique par satellite de programmes de television. Elle concerne la modelisation, les strategies de masquage et l'influence sur la qualite subjective des images et du son de ces erreurs. Nous avons d'abord etudie et simule un systeme complet de transmission simplifie de bout en bout afin de modeliser les erreurs residuelles. Puis nous avons calcule et implante ces modeles pratiques dans un generateur d'injection d'erreurs logiciel simulant la diffusion. Nous nous sommes ensuite interesse aux strategies de masquage que nous avons implante dans un decodeur video. La premiere solution est utilisee par les constructeurs de codeurs mpeg-2: elle utilise un lien entre la couche systeme et le decodeur. En cas d'erreur, elle avertit le decodeur de sauter le paquet de transport errone et de se resynchroniser sur un code de debut. Dans une deuxieme solution plus originale, le decodeur analyse le train binaire quel que soit son etat et utilise des tests internes pour detecter les erreurs et se resynchroniser. Nous avons ensuite mis en place une salle de tests subjectifs. Nous avons etudie les differents protocoles de test normalises et choisi la methode a double stimulus a echelle a cinq notes de qualite. Nous avons effectue de nombreux tests afin d'estimer la precision des resultats obtenus. Nous avons finalement teste les deux decodeurs video ainsi qu'un decodeur audio mpeg couche ii. Nous avons ainsi pu determiner le seuil de perception aux erreurs et la limite de fonctionnement du decodeur complet

Resumo: o assunto deste trabalho e um sistema digital de processamento de imagens para transmissão de sinais de televisão comercial do sistema PAL (Phase Alternated Line) padrão M. O sistema tem por função a redução da taxa de bit de transmissão. Ele e uma variação do Differential Pulse Code Modulation (DPCM), ao qual foi dado o nome Quotient Pulse Code Modulation (QPCM). Foram feitas algumas modificações nas operações realizadas pelo sistema DPCM, porém, manteve-se a mesma estrutura. O sistema QPCM foi implementado em "software" para simulação em ambiente VAX/VMS. Foram implementados alguns preditores e quantizadores para o sistema, porém, estes são usados em esquema fixo. Os preditores são de terceira ordem e usam esquema de predição sem Técnica de Amarração de Fase (TAF), o que significa a desconsideração do chaveamento PAL, mesmo usando amostras da linha prévia do mesmo campo. Os quantizadores são estatísticos e foram implementados especificamente para as características do sistema QPCM. A meta a se atingir é uma taxa de bit compatível com a terceira hierarquia PCM padronizada pelo CCITT que é de 34 Mb/s. Essa taxa deve ser atingida mantendo-se a qualidade para TV comercial. Serão realizadas simulações com imagens padrão da Society Motion Picture Television Engineers (SMPTE) e feitas avaliações objetivas e subjetivas para se testar o desempenho do sistema QPCM. O sistema apresentou bom desempenho em ambas as análises

Esta dissertação tem como objetivo fazer uma análise dos recursos narrativos dos sete capítulos da ficção seriada televisiva Sítio do Pica Pau Amarelo (2006, Rede Globo), adaptada livremente da obra literária infantil de Monteiro de Lobato, para então identificar se obtiveram sucesso na construção dos personagens Pedrinho e Narizinho. Sabe-se que O Sitio presente hoje no imaginário coletivo foi sedimentado pela poética de Lobato, a partir da década de 40(AZEVEDIM; CAMARGOS; SACHEITA, 1997) e pela televisão desde à adaptação nos anos 70 da série literária feita pela Rede Globo (Ortiz,1988). Diante do volume de histórias, foi feita uma análise da relação trama, personagens, conflitos, diálogos/programação de efeitos das narrativas literárias O Saci (2007); Viagem ao Céu (2007) e a da que se passa no Reino Encantado das Águas Claras contada no livro Reinações de Narizinho (2003), e das suas respectivas adaptações que estrearam a temporada de exibição do Sítio dos anos 2000(Rede Globo), para então identificar as matrizes narrativas essenciais do Sítio do Pica Pau Amarelo. Chegou-se a conclusão que as crianças deste Sítio se constituem como uma destas matrizes, estratégia manipulada inadequadamente pela novelinha O Sítio 2006, que não conseguiu fazer das construções de Pedrinho e Narizinho uma armadilha ficcional infantil.

Resumo: O objetivo deste trabalho é tanto estudar quanto analisar uma solução de IPTV (TV por IP). Tal serviço está emergindo nas operadoras de telecomunicações de todo o mundo. Essa solução está sendo bem aceita e mudando radicalmente a visão de negócios dos provedores de telecomunicações em todo o mundo. Consumidores finais vão demandar serviços personalizados através de múltiplos dispositivos, incluindo canais de TV, conteúdo sob demanda, TV interativa, comunicações de vídeo e de voz, música, compartilhamento de fotos e arquivos e jogos on-line. Esses são alguns dos serviços de usuário final, entregues de forma transparente e combinada. Isso tudo requer mudanças inovadoras nas operadoras de telecomunicações, desde uma nova arquitetura de rede, com qualidade de serviço fim-a-fim, confiabilidade, gerência, e segurança. Contribui-se com uma descrição detalhada de como arquitetar essa solução, cobrindo todos os desafios para se implementar um sistema de IPTV, descrevendo-se todos os componentes e serviços da solução, e também qual seria a evolução natural dessa solução. É também parte de nossa contribuição a proposição de algumas melhorias para reduzir o tempo de troca de canal, além de sugestões para se implementar uma solução de inserção de comercial e de inserção de legenda. Abstract: This works concerns the study and the analysis of an IPTV solution (Internet Protocol Television). This kind of service is emerging in the Telco all over the world and its good acceptance is radically changing the business vision of the telecommunications providers. Final consumers will demand personalized services using multiple devices including TV channels, video-on-demand, interative TV, video and voice communications, music, photo and file sharing and online games. All these services require novelties and changes at the telecoms field embracing new network architecture using P2P service quality, reliability, customer management and security. The contribution of this work concerns a detailed description of how to design the solution for these challenges, how to implement a new IPTV system describing all the components and services that have to be provided. The natural evolution of this approach is also considered. Additionally, this work proposes new solutions to reduce the channel zapping time and to insert commercials and subtitles. This investigation tries to analyze how the religious practices (particularly Masses and Novenas) held in the Basilica Sanctuary of the Divine Eternal Father of the municipality of Trindade in the State of Goiás are put under a process of reconfiguration by being televised. In broadcasting these religious practices, the media employed its own rules and methods (or grammars), resulting in a new form of religious practice, which might be called “mediatic”. By analyzing the media practices of the Basilica Sanctuary of Trindade, we have identified two particularities: the use of simulation and the show as an outcome. These particularities have been originated from the process of media development on religious practices, mostly through the employment of techno- symbolic devices, orchestrated by the “mediatic” ceremony, developing from in- person religious practices. During this process of development, some modifications have also taken place in the Basilica Sanctuary of the Divine Eternal Father, as well as with the religious practices held within this church, due to their transmission by television. Grouped in two orders: temporality and spatiality, these modifications go beyond the religious field and can in fact be classified as concessions to another field, since they migrate into a television media classification. The research also shows that the televised religious practices of the Basilica Shrine of the Divine Eternal Father do not take place for the faithful present but for the “tele-faithful,” that is, the consumers of these mediatic-religious practices. The faithful, as well as the entire liturgical body of these religious practices, thus become the assistants of this media construction. To accomplish this investigation, a set of theoretical, methodological and technical procedures has been used, including bibliographical and documentary research, observation, interviews and analysis of media documents. The dissertation is develped in two parts. In the first, it addresses the emergence and development of devotion to the Divine Eternal Father under three distinct different aspects: the first during the colonial period until the proclamation of the Brazilian Republic. The second examines the devotion under ecclesiastical administration – in what we have called “Romanization.” The third deals with the mediatization of this devotion, that is, the use of the media in a first moment in order to “Christianize” it and then to spread it throughout Brazil. In the second part of the dissertation, the main concepts, such as secularization, the role of media, mediatization and the mediatization of religion (with a particular focus on media‟s interaction with Catholicism) are discussed as its hard core, as well as how the religious practices of the Basilica Sanctuary of the Divine Eternal Father are modified by being televised. It has come to a conclusion that religious devotion makes concessions to the media field in the transmissions of its practices and that these concessions not only alter the liturgical formats of its practices, but indeed affect the temple itself.
A pesquisa se propõe a analisar como as práticas religiosas (Missas e Novenas) do Santuário Basílica do Divino Pai Eterno do município de Trindade no Estado de Goiás são reconfiguradas pelos dispositivos televisivos, pois ao televisionar essas práticas religiosas, o Campo Midiático impõe as suas próprias regras e gramáticas, resultando numa outra prática religiosa, a midiática. Ao analisar as práticas religiosas midiáticas do Santuário Basílica de Trindade identificamos que elas são constituídas por duas particularidades: o simulacro e a espetacularização, oriundas desse processo de construção da prática religiosa midiatizada, através do dispositivo tecno-simbólico orquestrado pelo cerimoniário midiático, a partir das práticas religiosas presenciais. Durante esse processo de construção, algumas modificações também acontecem no Santuário Basílica do Divino Pai Eterno e nas práticas religiosas presenciais desta mesma igreja, por causa de suas transmissões pela TV. Essas modificações podem ser classificadas como concessões, uma vez que perpassam do Campo Religioso ao Campo Midiático Televisivo e se agrupam em duas ordens, temporalidade e espacialidade. A pesquisa também mostra que as práticas religiosas televisionadas do Santuário Basílica do Divino Pai Eterno não são realizadas para os fiéis ali presentes, mas sim para os telefiéis, ou seja, os consumidores dessas práticas religiosas midiatizadas. Os fiéis, assim como todo o corpo litúrgico dessas práticas religiosas, são assistentes desta construção midiática. Para tanto, utilizou-se um conjunto de procedimentos teóricos, metodológicos e técnicos que inclui pesquisa bibliográfica e documental, observação, entrevistas e análises de documentos midiáticos. A dissertação está construída em três partes: na primeira, aborda o surgimento e desenvolvimento da Devoção do Divino Pai Eterno em três períodos bem distintos; o primeiro durante a vigência do padroado até a proclamação da República Brasileira; o segundo momento mostra a devoção sob a administração eclesiástica, o que denominamos por romanização; o terceiro período disserta sobre a midiatização desta devoção, a utilização dos meios de comunicação social num primeiro momento para “cristianizá-la” e, depois, para propagá-la para todo o Brasil. Na segunda parte da dissertação, discute-se os principais conceitos que norteiam a pesquisa, como de secularização, campo midiático, midiatização e midiatização da religião com foco no catolicismo midiático. Na terceira parte analisamos como as práticas religiosas do Santuário Basílica do Divino Pai Eterno são modificadas pelos dispositivos televisivos. Conclui-se que o campo religioso faz concessões ao campo midiático nas transmissões de suas práticas e que essas concessões não só alteram os formatos litúrgicos de suas práticas, como também afetam o próprio templo.

Les pays arabes du golfe ont recemment connu l'ere des moyens modernes de communication, suite a l'instauration d'un etat dote d'institutions. Cependant les societes de la peninsule arabique de type monarchique fondees sur la famille ou la tribu, soumises a la loi religieuses, sont loin de connaitre le pluralisme politique ou la liberte d'expression. Or, l'institution mediatique est tout d'abord un moyen de propagande au service du gouvernement et un support de l'ideologie dominante. The arab gulf's states have recently known the era of the new and modern communication's means; just after the creation of theirs countries. However, the arab peninsula's societies of monarchic style, are based on the family or tribe. They are submitted to religious lows. In fact, they are so far ro have a real political pluralism. The mediatic institutions are; basilly a means of propaganda for the governement, and a support of main ideology of the power. In the present research, we show that the information in the arab gulf is entirely controlled by the local power and does not present any kinds of pluralism, it must follow the general line dictated by the power in place

Resumen
Le travail présenté dans ce mémoire s'inscrit dans le cadre de l'étude de systèmes de télévision stéréoscopiques, et plus particulièrement d'un système de télévision en relief (TV3D) base sur une prise de vue à trois cameras. La télévision 3-D permet aux téléspectateurs de percevoir des séquences télévisuelles en relief. Le système se décompose en trois parties: acquisition, compression et transmission, restitution du relief. Nous étudions d'abord les différentes parties constituant la chaine complète de télévision en relief. Les différents systèmes de TV3D existants sont ensuite analysés. La reconstitution d'images en relief sur un téléviseur est étudiée puisque c'est lors de la restitution que l'ensemble de la TV3D va être jugée. En vue d'assurer la conformité des images stéréoscopiques, les prises de vue à cameras parallèles et convergentes sont caractérisées. A partir de l'analyse des schémas existants, un système de télévision en relief original basé sur une prise de vue à trois cameras: gauche, centre, droite est présenté. Ce système est conçu afin d'assurer une meilleure compatibilité 2D-3D. La camera cyclopéenne permet d'obtenir directement l'image compatible avec le système standard 2D et une symétrie de qualité entre les images stéréoscopiques pour la visualisation en relief. Afin de valider le système proposé, des comparaisons sont effectuées avec les systèmes de TV3D classiques basés sur une prise de vue à deux cameras. La comparaison des performances (rapports signal a bruit, débits) des différents systèmes permet de valider notre système à trois cameras. Les expérimentations sur des images réelles montrent l'intérêt du système présenté pour la qualité des images reconstruites à la réception

Resumen
Cette thèse présente une analyse sociohistorique des identités de genre proposées par les séries animées télévisées françaises. Une analyse de la programmation ainsi que des phénomènes d'adaptation et de reprise permet de mettre en évidence un jeu de tension entre conformisme et innovation, mais aussi d'éventuels effets de retour en arrière. Nous verrons que ces programmes ont souvent relayé une construction différentialiste du genre, caractérisée par la subalternité du féminin et son assignation à des fonctions d'assistance et de soin. Néanmoins, en accompagnant les transformations de notre société, certaines séries animées ont pu remettre en cause les normes de genre et les oppositions classiques.En plus de l'analyse d'un corpus audiovisuel de 56 séries animées françaises (1957-2014), un terrain ethnographique et 11 entretiens approfondis ont été réalisés auprès de l'association Les Femmes s'Animent et de professionnel·le·s de l'animation en 2015-2016. Ce nouveau volet de la recherche interroge la façon dont les différents acteurs (scénaristes, producteurs, animateurs, diffuseurs etc.) qui interviennent dans la chaîne de fabrication d'un dessin animé pour la télévision choisissent ou non de défendre des représentations plus équitables des genres, en relation avec les contraintes organisationnelles et économiques propres à l'animation audiovisuelle française, ainsi que les normativités relatives à l’impératif de protection des jeunes publics
This thesis proposes a sociohistorical analysis of gender representations in French animated television series. In analysing the programming strategy of television networks and the adaptation and rerun phenomena, the research reveals a structural tension between standardisation and innovation, as well as backlash effects. Indeed, these programs have generally conveyed a binary and essentialist conception of gender, minimizing female characters and confining them to secondary and caretaking roles. Nonetheless, following contemporary social changes, some productions have begun to challenge gender norms. 56 programs broadcast between 1957 and 2014 have been selected for this qualitative analysis. In 2015-2016, 11 comprehensive interviews were conducted with professionals as well as a fieldwork on the association Les Femmes s’Animent (the French counterpart of Women in Animation). This new angle helps to understand how the issue of gender inequalities is perceived by different professionals in the French animation industry (such as writers, producers, animators and television networks). While some of them try to fight against gender stereotypes, organisational and economic constraints as well as social norms related to child protection continue to impact the production of animated series
