This work addresses the issue of erography from a subversive perspective. It is a question of going against the ideology framed by the patriarchal family and reflected in the society that was inspired by it, the patriarchal society. Based on the radical American feminism of the late 20th century, it will be a question of highlighting the way in which the authors narrate the body-sex in order to transgress the values traditionally attributed to the phallocentric family. Thus, this study wants to consider the narration of the sex-body as a weapon of resistance to the ideology spread long-term by the patriarchal family and on which the patriarchate was based, in order to subvert the latter.

PurposeResearch on the impact of patriarchy and patriarchal norms on women’s work-life balance is scarce. A typical patriarchal society, such as Nigeria, tends to be organised based on gender, and the construct is embedded in the culture. This paper aims to investigate the impact of patriarchy on women’s work-life balance in a non-Western context: Nigeria.Design/methodology/approachThe authors adopt a qualitative research approach to enhance their insight into the issue of patriarchy and women’s work-life balance. Data for the study were collected over a four-month period, using semi-structured interviews as the primary method of data collection.FindingsThe findings of the thematic analysis reveal the impact of patriarchy on women’s work-life balance in Sub-Saharan Africa, specifically Nigeria. Women’s aspirations to achieve work-life balance in this part of the world are often frustrated by patriarchal norms, which are deeply ingrained in the culture. The findings of this study reveal that male dominance of and excessive subordination of females, domestic and gender-based division of labour and higher patriarchal proclivities among men are the ingredients of a patriarchal society. These issues make the achievement of work-life balance difficult for women.Research limitations/implicationsThe extent to which the findings of this research can be generalised is constrained by the limited sample size and the selected research context.Practical implicationsThe insights gleaned from this research suggest that there are still major challenges for women in the global south, specifically Nigeria, in terms of achieving work-life balance due to the prevalent patriarchy and patriarchal norms in the society. Strong patriarchal norms and proclivity negatively affect women’s work-life balance and in turn may impact employee productivity, organisational effectiveness, employee performance and employee punctuality at work. However, an Australian “Champion of Change” initiative may be adopted to ease the patriarchal proclivity and help women to achieve work-life balance.Originality/valueThis paper provides valuable insights by bringing patriarchy into the discussion of work-life balance. This issue has been hitherto rare in the literature. It therefore enriches the literature on work-life balance from a patriarchal perspective.

The Orthodox Patriarchate of Constantinople went through a series of changes in the eighteenth century. By 1763 gerontismos was established, and the Patriarchal seal was divided into four. As such, the metropolitans of the Holy Synod gained considerable power in the administration of the Patriarchate vis-à-vis the Patriarchs. The so called “reform of the Synod” was more than a mere internal struggle among the clergymen of the Patriarchate and the Phanariots. It was rather related to the Empire-wide economic developments in connection to the transformation of social roles in the Ottoman society. In the eighteenth century the collaboration between the Ottoman administration and ecclesiastical institutions was in rise, and by the time gerontismos was established, the institutionalization of the Orthodox Church as part of Ottoman administration had been culminated.

During the information age, the patriarchalism is undergoing a crisis, which mainly affects the ba-sic cell of the society – the family. The crisis is rooted in transformation of the labour market and the growth of women’s self-esteem, which is caused by globalization, the development of reproductive te-chnologies, as well as feminism and gay and lesbian movements. The identity of a strong, empowered woman has been formed. Women are aware of their rights, values, sexuality, and they define themselves outside the patriarchal matrix. The society strongly opposes manifestations of compulsive sexuality. There is uncertainty about the future in the society. Patriarchal values have lost their legitimacy, therefore a re-turn to the previous values is unlikely to happen. In order for a family to function during post-patriarchate era, it is necessary to create a new, strong, unifying identity appealing for a sufficient number of individu-als, which can influence the formation of new social and family relations.

Lisa See’s Snow Flower and Secret Fan is set in Emperor Taoguang period-late Qing Dynasty that is featured by patriarchal society. One of typical features of the patriarchal society is that the male is the center of everything, while the female is in a disadvantaged position, which is clearly shown in the novel. However, Laotong–a kind of woman’s friendship in the novel can be regarded as a sort of female rebellion to the patriarchal society. They communicate with each other in a special way that men have no access to, which in a way wins more space for women in feudal society in which men always are in dominated position in terms of social status in family or society. The paper is going to discuss how this nu shu narrative destructs the patriarchal society and strives for more space for women, breaking the yoke of man’s gaze and power.

The article intends to understand the phenomenon of witch hunting among the Rabha community of Goalpara district in Assam. It attempts to map the changes which Rabha society has undergone in the process of the construction from matrilineal to a patriarchal society. The shift from matrilineal to patriarchal is an outcome of the emergence of ‘identity formation’ among the male members of the Rabhas. Therefore, the construction of the identity has become a major issue regarding the establishment of the patriarchal setup in their society. As a result, the women those were considered as powerful are now seen as a threat to the patriarchy. In this regard, particularly, the women healers or midwives, who hold the expertise in the area of gynaecology, have become a threat to the patriarchal setup. In the name of identity creation, the patriarchal society started to brand the powerful women as the practitioners of evil powers. The popular term used by the Rabhas for a woman who is known as a keeper of evil power is tikkar. In the article, I have reflected on my ethnographic study as an outsider from the community.

Thus, this paper will give an overall interpretation of a series of events happened to her to show that in spite of the appropriate and adequate development and improvement of her female awareness that is inclined to enable her to have a good understanding of the historical, cultural, and, social implications of feminism and to make best use of those rich implications to challenge the historical, cultural, and, social dominance of patriarchal history, patriarchal culture, and, patriarchal society in an ambitious fashion and in an aggressive fashion, she has eventually turned out to be unable to subvert the historical, cultural, and, social governance of men in the patriarchal history, patriarchal culture, and, patriarchal society where she lives in a thorough fashion and she has to return to the acceptance of or even submission to the patriarchal history, patriarchal culture, and, patriarchal society she has refused in her previous life and experience, for it is difficult or impossible for her to achieve a great success in subverting the patriarchal mechanism most women have been prisoned in an individual fashion on account of the asymmetrical perceptive and cognitive balance between men and women at that historical moment when the historical, cultural, and, social dominance of men has been popularized in a substantial fashion and in a sufficient fashion in the lives and experiences of men and women as what has been impressed in the aesthetic and artistic production of this novel in a particular fashion.

The aspirations, mores, and family structure in Cypriot immigrants, which are illustrated in four cases of hysterical behaviour, have many similarities to nineteenth century Viennese society. Such behaviour may mask more sinister diagnoses; one of the cases remains diagnostically uncertain and another passed through a transient hysterical psychosis with Ganser-like symptoms. The cultural, dynamic, and nosological issues are discussed.

This article aims to perform a narrative review of the book "The mansions and the shanties" written by the Brazilian sociologist Gilberto Freyre, published for the first time in 1936. The study analyzed Gilberto Freyre's contribution to the process of interpreting the formation and modification of the eating habits and patterns of the Brazilian society. The analysis is limited to a review, from a dietician's perspective, of text clippings where Freyre seeks to reconstruct and interpret the process of formation and modification of eating habits and patterns in the context of a patriarchal society. The text will try to answer the questions: what, how much, how, when, where, and with whom were the dwellers of mansions and shanties eating? Comparison of the eating habits of the rural patriarchal society with those of the emerging urban patriarchal society has shown Freyre's clear trend of aversion to the "Europeanization" of eating habits and his affection for traditional culinary values. The new eating habits of mansions and plantation houses were portrayed with disdain, denoting an author who remained stuck to the culinary traditions of a rural patriarchal society, to taste memories, especially of the sweets, cakes, and desserts created, adapted, and savored in Pernambuco state sugar mills.

Feminist analyses of novels can give insights about women’s life in contemporary society. Fifteen Indian novels written after independence by women and men novelists have been reviewed to understand the role of patriarchy with feminist approach. These novels depict patriarchy as symbolic power, property rights, essence of father, husband and child, urge for son, women’s activities for the sake of husband, etc. Hierarchal stratified caste base Indian social structure supports patriarchy as notion. Characters, setting or situations, dialogues, point of view, etc. in these selected novels show unequal, secondary and exploited status of women in Indian society. Women blindly follow patriarchal rules and traditional structure with rituals. Therefore, justice, liberty, equality and fraternity given in Constitution of India are yet to be achieved for women. Only few characters are rebellious for their constitutional rights and came out of home at workplaces but as ‘hands of gold’. The findings and analysis of the study are useful to understand the status of women in Indian society for planning and management to achieve constitutional provisions for social welfare.

A patriarchal society has very clear and rigid norms. Its frame does not allow one to move out of it, and a mode of behaviour which attempts any change is severely punished. This kind of society has strict written and unwritten rules, and it seems that the second kind are more harmful and painful for the individual than the first. In 19th century, European society was strongly patriarchal, and a phenomenon which confirms this is the fact that many female writers published their works under a male pseudonym. A patriarchal system attempts to prevent women from any artistic and scientific form and expression, as they are labelled as less intellectually able or talented, but by choosing a male pseudonym they found a way to reach their goal. An author writes about what he knows, what surrounds him and/or what he notices, feels and thinks. Considering that a patriarchal society system is highly defined, female and male points of view, their angles of reflection and aims are obviously different. In novels, choice of character and situation and the description of such, can easily reveal an author’s gender. These approaches will be illustrated by analysing the work of Vincenza Speraz, who lived in North Italy between the 19th and 20th centuries, and published her works under the pseudonym Bruno Sperani.

This paper highlights that depowerment of women is linked to the belief and practice of patriarchy which subjugates women at various levels — political, economic, social, and cultural. Patriarchy is a social and ideological construct which considers men (who are the patriarchs) as superior to women. Patriarchy imposes masculinity and femininity character stereotypes in society which strengthen the iniquitous power relations between men and women. Feminism is an awareness of patriarchal control, exploitation, and oppression at the material and ideological levels of women's labour, fertility and sexuality, in the family, at the place of work, and in the society in general, and conscious action by women and men to transform the present situation. Overcoming the belief and practice of patriarchy is termed as eve empowerment. This paper distinguishes between eve empowerment and psychological empowerment. While the former (eve empowerment) is contextual in nature, the latter (psychological empowerment) is a motivational construct. If conditions favouring eve empowerment make a woman experience empowerment, then it is termed as psychological empowerment. Both these variables are linked to general well-being, which is defined as a state which allows individuals to realize their abilities, cope with the normal stresses of life, work productively and fruitfully, and make a contribution to their community. The findings indicate that by countering patriarchy, women experience greater eve empowerment and psychological empowerment. The results also show that education level of women had no impact on eve empowerment. This is the reason why there are depowered women even among the educated middle class and upper classes of the society. This finding has important implication for agencies, institutions and the state that are using education as a medium of change and empowerment. The empowerment at the workplace and at home seems to have a spillover effect as both moderate the relation of eve empowerment and general well-being. Deep level impact on social transformation will take place only when the concept of patriarchy is shaken and conditions supporting eve empowerment are created for women to experience psychological empowerment. The limitation of the study was that it was carried out in a patriarchal society. It should also be compared with a similar survey among the matriarchal societies and from all strata of society to make it more representative. The findings can form the basis for improving affirmative action within the organizations.

AbstractThis article discusses marital suffering, as portrayed by Sylvia Plath from a feminist viewpoint, and claims that her delineation of marital afflictions is a tool of protest against patriarchal oppression. In a convention-ridden patriarchal society, a woman usually cannot express her voice and remains suffocated by her personal agony and ache. However, Plath tries to break the conventions in her poetry, by representing the unjust institution of patriarchal marriage, which treats women as commodities. Many critics have noted that Plath’s marital sufferings are responsible for her suicidal death, which is a means of protest against, and resistance to, patriarchy. Since her poetry represents both her psycho-social suffering and her fight against the margins set by patriarchal society, one may consider her poetry to be a weapon of setting her “self,” as well as other women’s, free from male-dominated psychological imprisonment. The article explores how Plath’s poetic persona emerges as the Phoenix, the libertarian spirit, by deliberately exposing her marital sufferings, psycho-sexual torture, husband’s infidelity, and the ultimate death resulting from conjugal unhappiness, which is interpreted as a protest against all kinds of patriarchal discriminations.

Pakistan is a patriarchal society where men exercise their power over powerless female members of the family. The current study aims to highlight women emancipation and its dire need to maintain to give importance to women. The study is qualitative in nature, focuses on the need for women emancipation. The findings reveal that 21st-century Pakistani society is still facing patriarchal pressures where women emancipation is prohibited by powerful agencies, so there must be strong efforts to be done to work for equality of rights of women. The study enriches knowledge on the phenomenon of women liberation and provides insight for future researchers to carry out significant research in this regard.

Feminist theories are concerned to analyse how women can transform society so that they are no longer subordinated, by understanding how patriarchal relations control and constrict them. (Abbott and Wallace, 1997: 284) Feminisms start from the position that women are oppressed within a society, which is patriarchal and socially constructed within knowledge which is malestream. This traditionally defines men such that they are rendered subordinate, within a social world constructed by men. Feminisms are engaged with making transparent patriarchal constructs, and illuminating the ‘spaces’ within which women-realities can become more visible. This paper presents research undertaken by two key services working with male sex workers in central London. The insights gained from this research are discussed, as they allow comparison between the traditionally subordinate position of women and the contextual experiences of the ‘hidden’ population of male sex industry workers. It demonstrates, that like women, for male sex workers, hegenomic and heterosexist constructs ensure that they also occupy a subordinated position within society.

This present study would like to examine how women are oppressed by the patriarchal society in the selected poems written by one of the contemporary American female writers, Marge Piercy. Marge Piercy is particularly known as a female writer as well as a feminist activist. She has written numerous works, including novels and poetry books, which explore issues about women. Piercy’s poems are mostly known to be simple and vivid. Observing the use of figurative language and the diction in Piercy’s selected poems, entitled “A Work of Artifice” and “Barbie Doll”, in the light of feminist criticism, this article would like to show how oppression is done towards women and how it results in the silencing, shaping, and subordinating of women. In the poems, the oppression is mostly operated subtly and systematically through various cultural institutions, such as education, family, and media. Women, as a result, are trained to believe in the voice of the patriarchal society and to behave following what the patriarchal society demands. The long-practiced oppression has hindered women to develop to their fullest as human beings. The poems can be read as a medium to voice women’s experiences and to criticize the established patriarchal system and its oppression towards women.

The judiciary enquiring suomotu into deaths following an oncology trial in central India opened a can of worms. Searching investigation suggested that informed consent was only a cosmetic exercise and the victim was usually illiterate, poor and for a monetary reward and without being informed of the consequences of the intervention, subjected to a drug trial. Further, the process of informed consent was dispensed with and “patient” was asked to sign at the bottom of the document, no questions asked. The ‘patient’ in these trials usually is from the urban poor or deeply patriarchal, poorly literate rural hinterland. This led to a media outcry, a witch-hunt, indictments, penal action and the regulatory body now insisting on a video filmed informed consent. The wheel has truly turned full circle. The regulators while seeking idealistic regulation seem to live in a utopian world. There is quite a significant discourse on patriarchy and women identity in neo-colonial states. These studies border on dehumanization, victimization, and discrimination against women. Gender activists and women right advocates have been in the forefront of calls for recognition and protection of the rights of women in the African patriarchal society. The interventions recognize the African patriarchal structure, but the advocacy emphasizes the need to accord the female gender a pride of place in the sociocultural milieu. This study identified and analyzed lopsided societal treatment of the female gender in literary works of two African writers of different sociocultural backgrounds using Poststructuralist feminist theory. The study identified the societies reflected in the literary writings as representations of patriarchal societies that place the female gender in less favorable conditions; thus, making it subservient to the male gender. The study concluded that the female gender is disadvantaged in some African societies. The study recommends that all patriarchal societies need to accord the female gender respect and recognition in order to enhance their contribution to social and economic development of the society.

Post-war Scotland remained a deeply patriarchal country. Domestic abuse was common yet widely under-reported by the women it affected. This article argues that police and criminal justice agencies in Scotland 1960–1990 were ‘working patriarchies’ which created significant barriers to reporting. Oral history narratives from domestic abuse survivors, police and criminal justice professionals reveal deeply patriarchal workplaces and practices designed to maintain longstanding traditions of the patriarchal family. These inhibited reporting, denied women access to safety and justice in private life and contributed to women’s continuing inequality in post-war Scottish society.

The practice of nyai began in Indonesia in the 17th century when the Dutch colonizers began strengthening their foothold there. A nyai is none other than a concubine or a mistress to a foreigner, especially a European. The nyai were a group of women who were exploited during the Dutch occupation. To what extent was a nyai merely a sexual object to colonizers, and is associated with the use of force which was prevalent in the patriarchal Javanese society? Did the nyai voice their rights? Did the authorities care about their hardship? This essay shall analyse these issues using the approach of Gayatri Chakravorty Spivak’s subaltern studies, which puts foward the concept of subaltern women as oppressed women without a voice. Although others could voice the problems on their behalf, this is not the voice of subaltern women themselves as the party that voices out their problems may have other interests. This analysis is of subaltern women in Pramoedya Ananta Toer’s novel This Earth of Mankind ( Bumi Manusia ). This study confirms that Nyai Ontosoroh is a subaltern woman in two types of society, i.e. patriarchal and colonial society. She is manipulated for the interests of men and for colonizers. Nyai Ontosoroh can be taken to be an example of the exploitation of women in a patriarchal society. Nyai Ontosoroh herself attempts to voice out her rights as a daughter and a mother. This work is an attempt to apply Florian Znaniecki’s concept of human ecology to an analysis of the functioning and transformation of a patriarchal society. It tackles the issue of the spatial aspects of how a patriarchy functions, whose identification – and especially their sociological description and explanation – become possible or more comprehensive using the said concept. These issues are (1) the impact of gender on the experience of the space and (2) gender communities vs. space – the socio-spatial manifestations of the social balancing of the status of men and women. The author’s reflection is theoretical and concerns the patriarchal model of society.

The current study examines that, objectification as an issue that is common to women in a patriarchal society in which a woman is treated as an object. Although the worldview is changing, this issue is still prevailing in most countries where the patriarchal system is still common. This study focuses to explore the problem of sexual objectification in the novel The Patience Stone (2008) by Atiq Rahimi. It also shows how women's life is governed by men and how the female is objectified in a patriarchal society. This study uses the framework of objectification presented by Martha Nussbaum and Rae Langton and the character of the protagonist is analyzed, using this framework. The final findings of the study declare that all the features of objectification that Martha Nussbaum and Rae Langton describes are present in the novel. Having daughters, not sons to predict accepting education although for children may be controversial in a patriarchal society, whiles in the actual sense is merit. This is so, as society first, perceived daughter and son from traditional gender ideology instead of the human capital view. Patriarchal society feels guilty when daughters turn out as determined, assertive, and competent than sons. This paper explores predictors of Reggio Emilia Early Childhood development (REA-ECD) acceptance, as a paradigm shift to educating daughters and sons equally in rural households basis for gender development. A paradigm shift is a changing thought from a traditional belief to a reality of life in society. The paper draws analysis on collected data from 216 households in Binary Logistic Regression (BLR). It identified daughters as a predictor of high REA-ECD acceptance in rural northern Nigeria. The paper constructed a household background Models with the conclusion that breakthrough may be through curtailing traditional gender-based stratification as daughters instead of sons predicted RAE-ECD acceptance. Therefore, the patriarchal system may erode through gender development education, and future mothers might have increased in human capital quality. This may be easier with the provision of policies, studies, and indigenous knowledge and skills improvement.

This paper is aimed at analyzing the novel entitled 'Aqeelat' written by Nadia Al-Kawkabani. This study is concerned with the main character's resistance to patriarchal ideology in her society. To analyze the resistance of the main character the researcher has used feminism approach. After analyzing the main character of the selected novel, the researcher found that the main character is aware of being discriminated by male domination. She is aware of the suffering of Yemeni women due to patriarchy. Her awareness of being marginalized brings her to some efforts to resist patriarchy in her society. This resistance can be seen in her actions and attitudes to reject the patriarchy ideology. First, she rejects the social rules of her patriarchal society which disregard women potentiality, and second she proves the potentiality of women as equal to men.

This article focuses on the relationship of Zahra; the heroine of the novel, The story of Zahra by Hanan al-Shaykh with "male" community. Zahra is not only the victim of her family but of an entire society also. Her father who is always cynical of her face which is full of pimples and expected spinsterhood, to her mother and her betrayal of her husband with her lover, to her spoiled and failed brother, her family friend who raped her and forced her to abort twice. Her failed marriage to a friend of her uncle and her return to her homeland, which seemed to be suffering from the scourge of war, and her belief in her ability to distract the mind of the sniper by establishing a relationship with him. Zahra couldn't be an independent individual in her society, but a tool that everyone can see from his perspective. Zahra suffered from the oppression of the patriarchal society, which gave the man the oppression and abuse of women without any deterrent or a pretext for their oppression. Hanan al-Shaykh The Story of Zahra is a real example of what most women in the Third World suffer from the dominance of male society and their control over women, spiritually and physically.

Chinese online shopping festival has become increasingly important to research on cultural and societal issues related to gender. This paper focuses on the Chinese online shopping festival 3.8 Queens Day, investigates the relationship between female empowerment and patriarchal consumerism power embedded in Queens Day in context of Chinese society. This paper analyses the reason of the popularity of Queens Day through the historical and societal perspective, and by critical discourse analysis of the advertisements and slogans in Queens Day, the patriarchal power presented by dominant male aesthetics and patriarchal discourse have been found. Then, through renaming Womens Day and the word Women ( in Chinese) to Queen, it can be seen that patriarchal consumerism discourse has done alienation towards female by deconstructing the historical and societal meaning of the Womens Day. This paper uncovers the cunning of patriarchal consumerism as inconspicuous male power seemingly empowers but actually disempowers female through ads that advocate female independence.

Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni through her novel Sister of My Heart unveils the position of women and their roles assigned in Indian patriarchal society and their effort to overthrow the biased attitude of male. As its theoretical tool it utilizes western version of liberal feminism and gender theory as stated by David Glover and Cora Kaplan. In doing so it aims at examining the reality of patriarchal ideology which considers women as second class citizen and maternal vessels. It reveals the pathetic condition of the protagonist, Anju and Sudha. They have not got the role of independent agents in the society but treated as play things. They are taught to be submissive from the very beginning of their life. The demarcation line has been drawn in the name of Bidhata Purush who also does not come to write their fortune. As a result, directly or indirectly they are engaged in their subservient lives. It is patriarchal ideology which makes them feminine and masculine, which assigns different roles, rights and responsibilities in order to make subservient. This paper concludes that the writer's, Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni’s work exposes the male domination upon women in the Indian society.

The present study tends to explore the feminine subjectivity as a heart-throbbing phenomenon for men that keeps on prevailing in a patriarchal society. This is an exploration into the life of Pakistan's renowned writer, poet and human activist, Kishwar Naheed. Her autobiographical writing Buri Aurat ki Katha (A Bad Woman's Story) probes into the life of a female character who is being restrained by society due to her achievements and fame but gender discrimination prevailing in society compelled her to consider herself a stigma. Naheed is taken as a representative character to project the reality of a patriarchal society that denies feminine subjectivity in society. It covers gynophobia over men's mind towards women powerful and independent existence in society. This study contextualizes within the border of feminism theory that covers threat to female identity by throwing light to the perspective taken by Kristeva's views on feminism, majorly focusing on male jingoistic society. The present inquiry spotlights the ways in which women suffer through threatened, identity crisis, abuse, and oppression that further leads woman's journey of life restrained under social commands.

This research investigates the status of female characters under the oppressive patriarchal system of Bedouin in the novels of Miral Al Tahawi through the lens of radical feminist theory. Miral Al-Tahawi explains in her novel "The Tent" how women are marginalized and exploited in the context of parental restrictions imposed on them in Bedouin society, which is governed by harsh customs and values. The rationale comes from an understanding of the influence of this patriarchal authority over Bedouin women that reveals the status of women as oppressed and subject to the conditions that control women's identity and limit their freedom. This research will critically analyze the status of women in a gender-focused society. The current study found that Miral al-Tahawi embodied the suffering of Bedouin women through the suffering of the female characters in her novel. She reveals the extent of the suffering and patriarchal oppression that Bedouin women are subjected to in silence.

This study focuses on the four tales that are taken from The Arabian Nights, namely The Tale of King Shahryār and His Brother, The Tale of the Porter and The Three Young Girls of Baghdad, Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves, and Ali Shar and Zumurrud. The goal is to find the forms of patriarchal power as the causes of the women characters’ negotiation of power and also the forms of the women characters’ negotiation of power in The Arabian Nights. The theories that are used for this study are the theory of power relation, the concept of docile bodies, and the concept of negotiation of power/power strategies. From the analysis, it is found that in the patriarchal society of The Arabian Nights, power is fluid and not fixed.
