Resumen
Purpose: The issues of increasing the efficiency of passengers’ ground service in airborne-transport logistic junctions are considered. Ground service processes are predictable from the point of transport system theory and are normalized using time-schedule theory tools. Actions or inaction in the service processes of a passenger as a process participant introduce an accidental element into transport system. Managing passenger’s initiative does not affect the predictability of the end time of ground service operations. The article proposes the description of the processes of logistic junction production activity as well as the role of passenger’s behavior in ground service. Directions for the study of passenger behavior cognitive model in the frames of air-terminal structural-flowing scheme are proposed. The paper proposes predictive analytics system in the form of telematics which collects data on passenger factual behavior in airport functional areas. As a proposal to improve junction operation efficiency it is proposed to introduce passenger behavior models for the prediction of time ending of passenger ground service processes and for - at the expense of data evaluation algorithms - constituting operation process continuation. Methods: System general theory, cognitive transport system theory. Results: The architecture of the system for data collection from transducers for passenger behavior monitoring at air terminal on the process of ground service in airborne-transport logistic junction was developed; structural-logical scheme of negative scenario occurrence, that’s negative one from the point of event regularity, is given. Practical significance: Passenger ground service process optimization of airborne transport logistic junction.

Resumen
The study considered the role of passenger road transport as one of the most important sectors of the national economy, which influences the entire economy of a country and its regions, as well as the quality of life of the population. The analysis of the transport system in the city of Khujand, which is mainly dominated by road transport, has been carried out based on the results of the conducted survey on passenger flows on bus routes of the city, particularly, regarding origin-destination matrix, fare collectability. The conclusions argue in favour of practicability of conducting regular systematic monitoring of passenger flows to optimize suggestions in the field of urban public transport development. In fundamental terms, main problems of passenger transportation management were identified including lack of a regular timetable on certain routes, non-compliance with the traffic schedule, resulting in an increase in travel time, changes in routing due to the absence of sufficient number of passengers, systematic violations of traffic rules, excessively long stops at the hub stopping points, etc. The suggestions comprise approaches intended to reduce influence of organisational and managerial factors on efficiency of passenger transportation, on the correct choice of rolling stock, that should be selected considering design features, possibility of serving all segments of the population (categories of passengers), traffic intensity, manoeuvrability, compliance with road conditions, etc. Conclusions were also made regarding techniques to justify the volume of passenger transportation, to identify average distance of passenger’s trip, to calculate technical, operational, and quality indicators of operation of public transport, distribution of passengers per routes. The analysis of the structure of passenger flows since it influences the indicators of the effectiveness of passenger transportation, plays the most significant role in the framework of development of new approaches to the solution of transport issues in the city of Khujand.Implementation of full-scale monitoring of passenger flows will make it possible to develop appropriate timetables facilitating movement of passenger flows on routes, to select a rational type of rolling stock in terms of capacity, will contribute to time-saving passenger travelling, socialisation of transport tariffs, and improved quality of transportation.

Resumen
Various methods of collecting data on passenger traffic, their advantages and disadvantages are considered. It is shown that in order to improve the quality of transport services, it is necessary to regularly collect and refine data on passenger traffic. The goals and methods of obtaining information about passenger traffic in the system of municipal passenger transport are indicated. All currently existing methods are divided into three categories: data collection using technical means, data collection with the help of censors and volunteers, and interpretation of fare payments. All the methods presented in the article were compared in terms of labor intensity, costs and accuracy of the results obtained. The advantages and disadvantages of each method are considered. The general structure of an automated system for collecting data on passenger traffic is presented. The necessity of creating a centralized system for collecting and processing data associated with all passenger transport control systems has been substantiated. The tasks solved by this system at all levels of transport services for passengers are shown. Each of the tasks is assigned to one of three service levels: pre-transport, transport and post-transport. It is shown that only solving problems at all levels can ensure high-quality operation of the municipal passenger transport system.

Resumen
Light rail transit (LRT) is a sustainable transportation mode that ensures sustainable environmental, economic, and social development. Generally, the rate of public transportation usage in many parts of the world remains low compared to private vehicles. There is a need to understand passengers’ perception of public transportation service quality to enhance passenger satisfaction and increase ridership. Thus, this study used the Kuala Lumpur LRT service as a case study to investigate the effect of a passenger’s gender and age on their perception of the LRT service quality and their overall satisfaction. This survey involved 417 respondents. The outcome of factor analysis indicated that eight factors—i.e., signage, comfort, speediness, safety, ticketing service, facilities, staff service, and provision of information—influenced passenger satisfaction. The results of the Mann–Whitney U test and Kruskal–Wallis test indicated that the factors influencing passenger satisfaction significantly varied across a passenger’s gender and age. A more in-depth and comprehensive analysis using the ordered logit model and segmentation approach proved that provision of information, comfort, staff service, and facilities were critical determiners of passenger satisfaction in most segments. Safety factors and ticketing services had no impact on overall passenger satisfaction. The findings of this research could help LRT service providers, researchers, and policymakers formulate effective strategies for enhancing passenger satisfaction and increase the ridership for LRT services.

Resumen
Precise estimation of passenger spatial-temporal trajectory is the basis for urban rail transit (URT) passenger flow assignment and ticket fare clearing. Inspired by the correlation between passenger tap-in/out time and train schedules, we present a method to estimate URT passenger spatial-temporal trajectory. First, we classify passengers into four types according to the number of their routes and transfers. Subsequently, based on the characteristic that passengers tap-out in batches at each station, the K-means algorithm is used to assign passengers to trains. Then, we acquire passenger access, egress, and transfer time distribution, which are used to give a probability estimation of passenger trajectories. Finally, in a multi-route case of the Beijing Subway, this method presents an estimation result with 91.2% of the passengers choosing the same route in two consecutive days, and the difference of route choice ratio in these two days is 3.8%. Our method has high accuracy and provides a new method for passenger microcosmic behavior research.

Resumen
In the metro station, passengers’ psychological state can be affected by space congestion, slow walking speed, increasing queue length, and other factors, resulting in a time-lapse effect, which can be described as people feeling that they spend more time than the actual. To measure the effect, this paper develops congestion indexes for the walking and queuing areas in metro stations, and designs stated preference (SP) and revealed preference (RP) surveys and scene simulation experiments. Based on the survey and experiment data, we attempt to describe the psychological state and space–time perception of passengers in metro stations and propose quantitative models of congestion indexes at different service levels. Furthermore, on the basis of these models, thresholds of walking distance and waiting time can be calculated for different service levels. The results can provide a reference for real-time passenger flow monitoring and theoretical supports for metro operators to measure passenger flow status and adopt passenger flow management strategies under different conditions. Overall, this study offers promising insights into passenger flow monitoring and management, but some limitations need to be addressed in future work.

Resumen
This article presents a study on the process of how passengers arrive at lift lobbies to travel to their destinations. Earlier studies suggest that passengers arrive at the lift lobbies individually with exponentially distributed inter-arrival times, that is, according to a Poisson process. This study was carried out in a multi-storey office building. The data was collected using a questionnaire, digital video recordings and the lift monitoring system. The results show that, in the studied building, passengers arrive in batches whose size varies with the time of day and the floor utilization. In addition, the batch arrivals follow a time-inhomogeneous Poisson process with piecewise constant arrival rates. Practical applications: This article contributes to the basic understanding of passenger behaviour, and how people move around in buildings and arrive at the lift lobbies. It is proposed that the model for the passenger arrival process should take into account that passengers do not always arrive individually but also in batches. The passenger arrival process affects the design of elevators. It will also affect the passenger generation in building traffic simulations.

Resumen
Counting of passengers entering and exiting means of transport is one of the basic functionalities of passenger flow monitoring systems. Exact numbers of passengers are important in areas such as public transport surveillance, passenger flow prediction, transport planning, and transport vehicle load monitoring. To allow mass utilization of passenger flow monitoring systems, their cost must be low. As the overall price is mainly given by prices of the used sensor and processing unit, we propose the utilization of a visible spectrum camera and data processing algorithms of low time complexity to ensure a low price of the final product. To guarantee the anonymity of passengers, we suggest orthogonal scanning of a scene. As the precision of the counting is relevantly influenced by the precision of passenger recognition, we focus on the development of an appropriate recognition method. We present two opposite approaches which can be used for the passenger recognition in means of transport with and without entrance steps, or with split level flooring. The first approach is the utilization of an appropriate convolutional neural network (ConvNet), which is currently the prevailing approach in computer vision. The second approach is the utilization of histograms of oriented gradients (HOG) features in combination with a support vector machine classifier. This approach is a representative of classical methods. We study both approaches in terms of practical applications, where real-time processing of data is one of the basic assumptions. Specifically, we examine classification performance and time complexity of the approaches for various topologies and settings, respectively. For this purpose, we form and make publicly available a large-scale, class-balanced dataset of labelled RGB images. We demonstrate that, compared to ConvNets, the HOG-based passenger recognition is more suitable for practical applications. For an appropriate setting, it defeats the ConvNets in terms of time complexity while keeping excellent classification performance. To allow verification of theoretical findings, we construct an engineering prototype of the system.

Resumen
In order to solve the difficulty of calling a taxi for urban residents, and reduce taxi no-load rate for taxi drivers, an Urban-Taxi accurate call service platform based on information self-matching was designed and realized by using wireless communication and combination positioning technologies. This platform can achieve real-time monitoring and management of the entire service area. By using a terminal, a passenger can book the nearest no-load taxi and wait for loading. Meanwhile, a taxi driver can use his or her terminal to get passenger’s information who wants to take a taxi. This approach simplifies calling process of passengers, matches passengers and no-load taxis intelligently, optimizes passengers travel experience, and reduces taxis no-load rate.

Resumen
The rapid development of intelligent transportation systems and high-speed railways has shortened the waiting time of passengers and the demand for waiting areas. Large-scale stations not only increase the difficulty for passengers when traveling but also waste a great deal of land resources and construction funds. Therefore, this research analyzes passenger waiting area demand according to the characteristics of urban development, passenger travel characteristics and station departure passenger flow. This paper establishes a prediction model for the number of passengers spending time in the waiting room, taking into account passenger traffic and train departure timetables. We used Beijing South Railway Station, Xi’an North Railway Station, Hefei South Railway Station and Zhoukou East Railway Station as examples to predict the numbers of passengers spending time in waiting rooms of different types and scales of station. Research results show that shortening the length of passengers’ early arrival times can effectively reduce the number of passengers gathered in medium-sized stations, which are located in new first-tier cities. Under the influence of the urban traffic environment and passenger flow, the uncertainties regarding travel time and passenger flow in first-tier cities are lower than those in new first-tier cities and higher than those in third-tier and fourth-tier cities. Therefore, the waiting area demand of passengers departing from medium-sized stations in new first-tier cities is lower than that of passengers from large stations in first-tier cities, and higher than that of passengers from small stations in third-tier and fourth-tier cities.

Resumen
The paper studies indicators of passenger movement volumes on road transport for regional transport network that are gained on the basis of ride-sharing on-line services. For the processing of data arrays of common rides’ services web-scraping is used. The paper also investigates time distribution of passenger traffic that shows the filling of cars by passengers on various sections of a route. Peculiarities and dependencies of day fluctuations of passenger traffic for the Sverdlovsk region transport network are analysed. The author has considered a task of modeling of seasonal and cyclical fluctuations of passenger traffic volumes. She has used all necessary statistical procedures required for identification and assessment of model parameters and verification of its adequacy and accuracy. The time series model with polynomial smoothing is used for short-term forecasting that allows analysing the dynamics of passenger traffic, decreasing costs on monitoring of information on passenger traffic and allows using results for solving tasks of technological organization of public transport.

Resumen
A large number of data is needed by the computation of the objective Bayesian network, but the data is hard to get in actual computation. The calculation method of Bayesian network was improved in this paper, and the fuzzy-precise Bayesian network was obtained. Then, the fuzzy-precise Bayesian network was used to reason Bayesian network model when the data is limited. The security of passengers during shipping is affected by various factors, and it is hard to predict and control. The index system that has the impact on the passenger safety during shipping was established on basis of the multifield coupling theory in this paper. Meanwhile, the fuzzy-precise Bayesian network was applied to monitor the security of passengers in the shipping process. The model was applied to monitor the passenger safety during shipping of a shipping company in Hainan, and the effectiveness of this model was examined. This research work provides guidance for guaranteeing security of passengers during shipping.

Lake Toba Tourism Area, has the potential for natural tourism which is formed from super volcanic activities so that it makes it one of the favorite tourist attractions in Indonesia. The crossing ship is the main transportation in the Lake Toba tourism area and is a favorite choice for people around Lake Toba and tourists who want to visit Samosir Island. Passenger Manifest Data is a very important document in the process of transportation, especially airplanes and ships, including crossing ships on Lake Toba. The manifest contains data on passengers, crew members and various items transported by the mode of transportation. Manifest documents are also useful for the process of disbursing insurance for transportation accidents. Passenger Manifest data using crossing ships on Lake Toba currently only records the number of passengers and the number of vehicles riding the ship, but does not record the name of the passenger. Passenger manifest data application is needed to manage the manifest data of crossing ship passengers on Lake Toba, with the aim of facilitating monitoring of crossing activities and the process of identifying passenger crossing vessels. This research will produce an application to recording Passenger Manifest of crossing ship in Lake Toba. The application is based on web, so it will be easily accessed anywhere, and can only be accessed by the North Sumatra Transportation Office. This application can be used to make it easier for the parties involved in supervising and controlling the list of ship passengers who travel on Lake Toba, so that it can reduce the risk of accidents and misuse of the number of boat loads from the permit.

Resumen
The origin-destination trip matrix is a fundamental characteristic of a transport network, and development of a reliable correspondence matrix is the most important task in organising passenger traffic. It is the basis on which the public transport route network of a city (region) is built and optimised.Currently, collection of initial information for construction of a travel correspondence matrix is carried out through field surveys comprising questionnaire surveys of the population; accounting for movement of passengers according to the coupons issued to them; checkers, tellers manually counting passengers in vehicle compartments; simple surveys of passengers. Besides, mathematical modelling is used based on statistical data on the number of residents in various districts of the city, employees in enterprises and students in educational institutions, as well as on available data on the characteristics of passenger traffic along certain routes. All these surveys are very expensive and are carried out once over few years; they give a large error, which is why decisions made on the basis of these data are far from being optimal. There are a lot of solutions in the software and hardware market that provide automated collection of data on passenger flows. They are based on the use of infrared sensors or of video recording. However, none of these systems provide information about the points of entry and exit of each passenger. The objective of this study was to develop methods for automating the collection of reliable information about passenger trips, that will be the base for building up-to-date and reliable passenger trip correspondence matrices. This task can be solved by constant monitoring of passengers’ trips with fixing places of entry and exit of each passenger. The study describes the possibility of creating software based on computer vision and artificial intelligence which will provide automation of collection of primary information about travel of each passenger from the place of boarding into the vehicle to exit from it, that is, automation of data generation to build a passenger trip correspondence matrix.

Resumen
The advantages and disadvantages of existing tools for calculating passenger flow are shown using the example of the city of Moscow. The objective of the research was to assess possibilities of using Wi-Fi data as a tool for analysing passenger flow. The authors used two types of Wi-Fi scanners and a tool they developed to analyse the collected data. The primary results of the study demonstrate the possibility of practical application of Wi-Fi data to analyse passenger flow. The described empirical studies, particularly data received from the portable Wi-Fi scanner, have shown that more than 20% of mobile devices in urban public transport and metro are used with Wi-Fi enabled, which is clearly not enough to get results necessary for comprehensive and detailed analysis of passenger flows. Nevertheless, the accumulating data allow to get possibility to forecast general passenger flow.A portable Wi-Fi scanner does not provide an opportunity to extensively capture a large area of the surveyed territory in real time (stops of urban public transport, locations where passengers enter the metro, etc.). Stationary Wi-Fi scanners could increase the amount of data and, accordingly, significantly adjust the results obtained. This enhancement could also be achieved through expansion of adoption of the tool of studying passenger flow to urban railways, i.e., in case of Moscow, to Moscow Central Circle and Moscow Central Diameters, as those routes provide Wi-Fi access at stations and in coaches.Data collected from Wi-Fi scanners can be an additional tool to other data sources, such as validation, automatic systems of passenger flow monitoring, and data obtained from cellular operators. For this reason, the further research in the field of Wi-Fi analytics along with development of technology in the field of existing data sources of passenger flow monitoring may result in better calculation of passenger flow.

Resumen
This paper aims to analyze the impact that different attributes related to a Regional Airport service and the socio-economic factors of the passengers have on the passenger’s overall satisfaction. The study also compared passenger and employee satisfaction in relation to the service offered by the airport, to identify possible critical areas of improvement. An Ordinal Logistic Regression (OLR) approach was used to model how the attributes considered for qualifying airport services and the socio-economic variables impact the predicted variable (i.e., passenger satisfaction). Furthermore, the results were triangulated to include quality and safety performance indicators as an objective anchor point for the performance of the company. The findings indicate interesting areas of difference between the perceptions of the passengers and airport employees regarding a company’s services and its performance. The company managers in the key areas of operation were then asked to select the main areas of improvement among the ones highlighted by the survey’s results. Quality and safety indicators were also helpful in enriching the analysis and indicating good synergy with the suggestions collected from the passengers’ and the employees’ surveys, offering yet another complementary perspective.

Resumen
Airports are rapidly deploying self-service technologies (SSTs) as a strategy to improve passenger experience by eliminating operational inefficiencies. This places some responsibility on the passengers to shape their experience. As service coproducers, passengers’ self-concepts and attributional tendencies are deemed instrumental in their consumption processes. Accordingly, drawing on the tenets of attribution theory, this study explores the interaction effects of passenger self-concept (am I competent at this?) and causal inference (who is responsible for SSTs’ performance?) on SST performance and satisfaction with airport SST link. Additionally, the probable spillover effect of passenger satisfaction with SST performance on satisfaction with airport and on electronic word-of-mouth (eWOM) is examined. The sample for the study consisted of 547 passengers departing from an airport in Shanghai, China. Structural equation modeling was utilized to test the study’s theoretical model. The findings indicate that airport SSTs’ performance influences passenger satisfaction with airport SSTs. The multiplicative effect of passenger self-concept (am I competent at this?) in the moderating role of passenger causal inference (who is responsible for SSTs’ performance?) in SST performance and satisfaction with SST link is demonstrated. Furthermore, the spillover effect of satisfaction with SST performance on satisfaction with airport and on electronic word-of-mouth (eWOM) is illustrated. Given the current need for contactlessness, the findings proffer critical managerial and research insights.

Resumen
The approaches to assessing the quality of passenger transport services and indicators considered in scientific works, and also existing in state and international standards, are considered. A hierarchical system of indicators (ranking level) has been drawn up, which distributes the sequence of indicators of transport services. The foreign experience of organizing the work of municipal transport was taken into account, the quality of service of which is constantly monitored and as close as possible to the needs of passengers. However, a number of issues, namely: measuring the quality of transport services for the population on a digital scale, methods and methods for monitoring quality assessment, and improving it, etc., remain open. Based on the results of the preliminary study, the main indicators for assessing the quality of passenger transport were identified and grouped, both objective and dependent on the perception of the consumer, which most clearly describe the quality of the provision of passenger transport services. Almost all researchers in their works have determined that the system of general quality indicators should include the following indicators: availability, reliability, comfort, information content, safety, regularity, cost-effectiveness. But due to the importance of each of the elements of the complex indicator, it is necessary to take into account not only all the components of the quality assessment, but also, to a certain extent, their impact on the quality of the transportation process. The article analyzes the importance of each component included in the system of indicators for assessing the quality of transport services for passengers. The necessity of digital assessment of the quality of services for the transportation of passengers by city bus transport has been substantiated. The developed methodology will allow assessing the quality of passenger transportation by other types of transport. The degree of the need for quality indicators in the passenger traffic assessment system has been substantiated, which will allow evaluating the quality of passenger service not at the verbal level ("bad", "good"), but at the level of digital comparison. substantiation of the degree of need for quality indicators in the passenger traffic assessment system; considering the feasibility of each indicator with its constituent components, determining the degree of influence of each component on the quality of the provision of services for the carriage of passengers by road. For the digitalization of the assessment of the quality of transportation, the designation of the general quality indicator is adopted - Яобщ. In numerical terms, the quality indicator should tend to the maximum value, which in this study is taken as 4. For this, all indicators will be divided into separate components, the weight of which will be estimated at 0.1. A general indicator for assessing the quality of passenger transportation has been determined, which will determine the competitiveness of the enterprise, satisfy the need for a high-quality transportation process, taking into account all criteria and indicators. Thus, the assessment of the quality of passenger transportation, based on the minimum value of the coefficient, which will tend from 3.5 to 4, will determine the ability of the enterprise to carry out the transportation of passengers according to a qualitative assessment and, taking it into account, conduct tenders for the transportation of passengers. Resumen
High-speed rail (HSR) is advancing at an unprecedented speed in China. However, its impact on the road passenger transport (RPT) is under-investigated. In this paper, a questionnaire survey of RPT and HSR passengers in Shaoguan, Wenzhou, and Shantou, China, was carried out to pursue the sustainable development of RPT and HSR from the aspect of passenger mode choice behavior. The travel mode in the three cities was further investigated using a binary logit model. The findings show that improving the safety and comfort of RPT, as well as the fares and convenience of HSR, are most likely to change passenger choice. For every one unit increase in passenger satisfaction with either the safety or comfort of RPT, the ratio of the probability of passengers choosing RPT to the probability of passengers choosing HSR will increase by 1.6 times and 4.8 times, respectively. Additionally, for every one unit increase in passenger satisfaction with either HSR fares or convenience, the ratio of probability of passengers choosing HSR to the probability of passengers choosing RPT will increase by 4.95 times and 7.011 times, respectively. This study’s results reveal the factors influencing passengers’ choice of HSR and RPT, providing crucial perspectives on sustainable developments for future HSR and RPT projects. Findings from this study may be used by transport planners to provide policy recommendations not just for China, but also for other countries that are building HSR systems.

Resumen
Introduction. Current methods for determining passenger ridership, due to their complexity and limited efficiency, do not allow monitoring transport demand at the proper level (in terms of comprehensiveness and continuity). Nowadays, technologies based on the collection, integration and analysis of big data (Urban computing, Big data, Internet of things) are used to create effective solutions in many aspects of our lives (including for urban transit).Materials and methods. Within the framework of this approach, a methodology for determining the correspondence of transit passengers from the operations of validating any kind of electronic travel tickets: smart cards, transport cards, magnetic cards has been developed. Each operations details are recorded in the Automated Fare Collection (AFC) system during the validation. This methodology based on the definition and evaluation the set of acceptable options of passenger trips sequences, which form the passenger correspondence, taking into account many factors that effect on the route choice by a passenger. For example, in contrast to previous studies, the practice of paying for trip at any point on the route, not necessarily immediately after boarding the vehicle, was taken into account.Results. It was proved that passenger correspondence calculated using the developed methodology statistically corresponds to the general set of transit passenger ridership within acceptable errors. The chaacteristics of transit demand is provided in the results.Discussion and conclusion. The application of the developed methodology makes it possible to organize continuous monitoring of passenger flows, technical and operational indicators of the functioning of transit system and thus implement the concept of sustainable development of public transport by designing public transit supply that meets demand.

Resumen
Currently, road transport workers face the task of meeting the needs of all spheres of economic activity in the transportation of goods and passengers. At the same time, road transport enterprises must function on the principles of profitability. An effective factor in improving the production, market and financial results of their activities is ensuring consumer satisfaction with the services provided. Therefore, the topic of this study is relevant. The object of the study is the process of providing motor transport services to consumers, who will be satisfied with them. The subject of the study is methods of assessing consumer satisfaction with the provided motor transport service. The main goal of assessing passenger satisfaction with the transportation service is to establish the degree of correlation between the actual values of the characteristics of the transportation service, the wishes and requests of consumers, and, in the presence of their inconsistency, to propose the necessary changes in the organization of these processes. For this purpose, in this study, the indicators that affect the level of passenger satisfaction with the motor vehicle service, established using the Saati method, are determined. The main summarizing indicators-criteria for assessing the satisfaction of consumers (passengers) with the motor transport service are defined as: availability of the service; comfort while waiting for the delivery of the vehicle; the comfort of the passenger's journey in the vehicle. The hierarchical structure of these indicators is substantiated, the degree of influence on certain aspects of consumer satisfaction is established. The obtained results make it possible to determine the degree of satisfaction and calculate the opportunities of motor transport enterprises to improve the results of their activities: production, market and financial.

Resumen
Bus passengers’ boarding and alighting behavior is important content when researching bus operation efficiency. This paper uses an improved cellular automata (CA) model and introduces four dynamic parameters to study individual behavioral characteristics of bus passengers’ boarding and alighting behavior. The research on the relationship between the macro pedestrian flow formed by the interaction between the individual passengers and the stop time of the bus station was realized. Then it was modeled for different situations, and the general update rules of CA were set based on realistic situations. The passenger boarding and alighting behaviors of the No. 245 bus route in Nanchang, China were simulated, and the simulation results of four different door layouts and passenger boarding and alighting modes were compared. It was found that when the passenger loading rate in the bus reaches 65%, the passenger boarding rate has an obvious tendency to slow down; the width of the door has a direct relationship with the passenger alighting efficiency, and the bus stopping time can be reduced by adjusting the width of the alighting door; a strategy which allows passengers board on the bus via the alighting door may effectively reduce the bus stopping time when there are many passengers boarding on the bus. Using strategy four, simulation research found that Bus No. 245 can reduce the stopping time by 40–50% in some station scenarios. Research results show that the CA model has certain practical value and can provide a theoretical reference for public transportation control and management.

Resumen
Passenger satisfaction is an important factor that affects the choice of travel modes for municipalities, especially in big cities. This evaluation is an important task for managers when they are considering improving the competitiveness of the public transportation system. However, passenger satisfaction evaluation is difficult as the information provided by passengers is often vague, imprecise, and uncertain. This paper aims to propose a new method, using Pythagorean fuzzy sets and multi-objective optimization by a ratio analysis plus full multiplicative form method (MULTIMOORA), to evaluate the passenger satisfaction level of the public transportation system under large group environment. The former is employed to represent the satisfaction assessments of rail transit network provided by passengers. The latter is extended and used to determine the passenger satisfaction levels of rail transit lines. In addition, a combination weighting method is suggested to compute the relative weights of evaluation criteria. A case study of the rail transit network in Shanghai is provided to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed passenger satisfaction evaluation method. The result shows that the new method proposed in this study can not only model passengers’ satisfaction evaluation information with more uncertainties, but also determine more reasonable and credible satisfaction levels of rail transit lines.

Resumen
With the rapid construction of high-speed railways (HSR), the supply structure of the transportation modes in China has changed greatly. In order to seek the sustainable development of HSR and air transport from the perspective of passenger mode choice behavior, this paper applied a binary logit model to explore the mode choice patterns in the Beijing–Shanghai corridor, which has the most successfully operated HSR line in China. By using the data collected in airports and HSR stations in the two cities, passenger flow composition and passenger mode choice behavior was analyzed. It was found that passengers’ preference for air transport decreases with the accompanying number of passengers and access time, and increases with income; female passengers and younger passengers have a higher probability of choosing air transport, ceteris paribus; and leisure passengers are more price-sensitive, they tend to travel by air transport when the air transport prices are lower. The study results reveal the travel characteristics of passengers between Beijing–Shanghai and provide information for policy design and infrastructure management.

Resumen
For intercity railway transportation enterprises, a reasonable intercity train operation plan is not only the foundation of the intercity railway operation organization, but also the key to the sustainable development of the intercity railway (ICR). In this paper, taking into account the economic benefits of railway transportation enterprises and the social benefits of passenger travel, an optimization model is established with the intercity railway train operation plan as the research object. The model aims to minimize the operating cost of railway transportation enterprises and minimize the travel time of passengers, and considers constraints such as passenger seat utilization, passenger flow, train frequency, and stops. It is a multi-objective optimization model that accumulates two objectives by introducing the passenger time value coefficient. According to the characteristics of the model, a genetic algorithm is designed to solve the model. Taking the Beijing-Xiong’an Intercity Railway (BXICR) as an example, the “smart business card” of China’s high-speed railway, two scenarios of passenger time value are designed, and the optimized train operation plan is obtained according to the existing OD passenger flow data, which verifies the effectiveness of the model and algorithm. The results show that compared with the original train operation plan, the number of stops per train of the optimized train operation plan under the two passenger time value scenarios decreased by 8.8% and 14.9%, the operating cost of the enterprise decreased by 7.7% and 1.6%, the travel time of passengers decreased by 0.7% and 1.5%, respectively. Under the condition of meeting the demand of passenger flow, the optimized train operation plan can effectively reduce the operating cost of enterprises and save the travel time of passengers, which is conducive to the sustainable development of intercity railways.

Resumen
The violation traffic laws by driving at high speeds, the overloading of passengers, and the unfastening of seatbelts are of high risk and can be fatal in the event of any accident. Several systems have been proposed to improve passenger safety, and the systems either use the sensor-based approach or the computer-vision-based approach. However, the accuracy of these systems still needs enhancement because the entire road network is not covered; the approaches utilize complex estimation techniques, and they are significantly influenced by the surrounding environment, such as the weather and physical obstacles. Therefore, this paper proposes a novel IoT-based traffic violation monitoring system that accurately estimates the vehicle speed, counts the number of passengers, and detects the seatbelt status on the entire road network. The system also utilizes edge computing, fog computing, and cloud computing technologies to achieve high accuracy. The system is evaluated using real-life experiments and compared with another system where the edge and cloud layers are used without the fog layer. The results show that adding a fog layer improves the monitoring accuracy as the accuracy of passenger counting rises from 94% to 97%, the accuracy of seatbelt detection rises from 95% to 99%, and the root mean square error of speed estimation is reduced from 2.64 to 1.87.

The development of information technology both software and hardware support development in various fields, especially in the field of electronics. This progress can be used in making automation systems and controlling electronic and electrical components. With the increasing need for system monitoring in real-time, a model that is more than just portable storage can be developed, using telemetry (remote measurement)systems. This research makes a prototype that is used for remote monitoring of electronic equipment telemetry in the passenger space of ferries using wireless communications. Radiofrequency is used for electronic equipment located in the passenger space. The system is made using ACS712 current sensor and ZMPT101B voltage sensor to measure current and voltage monitored by long-range wireless communications (LoRa) to maintain the strength of the amplifier signal and the distance that the LoRa can reach. By utilizing the frequency of the LoRa, it is expected to monitor the load current and voltage generated by electronic equipment in the ferry passenger's passenger space. From the monitoring tool obtained the test results of testing Television with power 27 W and Voltage 19 Volt obtained the percentage of voltage error is 1.09 % and the percentage of current error is 1.15 %.3. Based on the results of the test data, it can be concluded that the current, voltage in the passenger room of the JokoTole KMP ship is fluctuating. This needs to be done monitoring the current load on the ship, especially in the safety alarm system, electronic devices, pumps for the safety of shipping, which at KMP Joko Tole still uses conventional technology and the absence of adequate electrical system data support.

Resumen
At the peak of passenger flow, some passengers extend travel sections, which will be likely to lead to overcrowding of high-speed railway (HSR) trains. Therefore, the problem of train overcrowding control needs to be considered in ticket allocation. Firstly, by simulating the passenger demand function and utility function, an optimization model of ticket allocation for multiple trains and multiple stops with the goal of maximizing revenue is constructed. Secondly, the concepts of the travel extension coefficient and risk coefficient are introduced, the number of passengers is estimated under the risk coefficient as the probability, and the total number of passengers on the train arriving at any station is obtained. Thus, preventing the number of passengers on the train from exceeding the train capacity is introduced to the ticket allocation optimization model of multiple trains and multiple stops as a constraint. Finally, this model is solved by the particle swarm optimization algorithm (PSO). The research results show that the idea of controlling passenger numbers so as not to exceed train capacity based on ticket allocation proposed in this paper has strong practical feasibility. By reasonably and accurately allocating the tickets to the departure terminal section and long-distance terminal sections, it can ensure that, even if there are some passengers extending their travel section, the train will not be overcrowded under a certain probability, improving the train safety and passenger travel experiences.

Resumen
The article reviews the ways of insurance in railway transport, namely compulsory insurance of the civil liability of the carrier for causing damage to life, health, property of passengers and voluntary insurance of passengers on the basis of the management system for passenger transportations in the automated control system “Express”. In the case of compulsory insurance, a railway ticket for a longdistance train is a confirmation that the passenger is insured. No additional documents are needed. In the case of voluntary insurance, a passenger can purchase a voluntary insurance policy at the railway ticket office or through the website www: //rzd.ru. The ACS “Express” gives the opportunity for a passenger to issue a travel document for a long distance train and a policy of voluntary insurance against accidents in one of four insurance companies: PJSC “Rosgosstrakh”, LLC “Renaissance Insurance Group”, JSC “Insurance Company BLAGOSOSTOYANIE”, JSC “Insurance Company of the Gas Industry” (SOGAZ). At the moment each insurance company offers insurance premium of 3 par values with the relevant insurance amounts. The cost of voluntary insurance policies depends only on the sum insured and does not depend on such factors as the duration of the trip, the train category or the age of the insured. Insurance coverage is valid during the trip from the moment of announcement of boarding, but not earlier than 30 minutes before departure, and ends no later than one hour after the arrival of the insured passenger to the destination station, provided that it is located on the territory of the railway station or terminal. The insurance contract is concluded for one trip in longdistance railway transport. The information technology of voluntary insurance creates for passengers more attractive conditions, the comfort and safety of passenger transportation increases. The article provides the functional description and report examples of developed and implemented in the industrial operation software and analysis complex on the basis of the ACS “Express”, which includes automated work stations (AWS) “Insurance companies and complexes”, “Voluntary insurance” and “Inquiry on insured passengers by train”. This software and analytical complex implements tasks that ensure the formation of reference and analytical information, operational financial reporting on the sold voluntary insurance policies and monitoring of the demand indicators of insurance policies and insurance companies.

Resumen
Delivering high-quality service to passengers can be critical for an airport’s survival, competitiveness, profitability, and long-term growth in a highly competitive environment. The present study aims to examine the relationship between airport service attributes and passenger satisfaction. To this end, we conducted multi-method research consisting of symmetric (multiple regression analysis—MRA) and asymmetric (necessary condition analysis—NCA) approaches. The research data consists of 1463 valid online reviews (n = 1463) of the top 50 busiest airports in Europe retrieved from Skytrax. The MRA was employed to examine the net effect of the eight airport service attributes on passenger satisfaction, while the NCA was used to explore the necessary conditions and level of necessity to achieve passenger satisfaction. Using MRA, the findings reveal that airport staff is the most influential predictor of passenger satisfaction, whereas airport shopping and airport Wi-Fi connectivity do not have a significant effect on passenger satisfaction. Moreover, the NCA results found that six of the eight conditions are necessary to achieve passenger satisfaction at the airport. To complement and comprehend the findings, this study also sheds light on the antecedents underlying airport passenger satisfaction in the post-COVID-19 era using NCA.

Resumen
Based on the single pricing method of the high-speed railway (HSR) in China, a pricing strategy without flexibility leads to the problem of extreme fluctuations in passenger flow and difficulty in increasing revenue. In order to achieve sustainable development of the HSR from the perspective of pricing, in this study, we divided the passenger market according to the different factors affecting passengers’ choice behavior, maximized ticket sales revenue with expected travel cost as the reference point, and used prospect theory to construct a differentiated pricing model under elastic demand. A simulated annealing algorithm was used to solve this model under two passenger flow intensities. Taking the Beijing–Shanghai corridor as an example for analysis, the results show that differential pricing can be implemented on the basis of passenger decision-making, and price reductions at off-peak periods will attract passenger flow which will increase ticket sales revenue by 10.41%. During the peak period, prices can be increased to maintain passenger flow, and ticket sales revenue will increase by 7.98%. We also found that increasing passenger expectations have a greater impact on ticket sales. This study provides theoretical and methodological support for the sustainable development of the HSR.

Resumen
Since the long dwell time and chaotic crowds make metro trips inefficient and dissatisfying, the importance of optimizing alighting and boarding processes has become more prominent. This paper focuses on the adjustment of passenger organizing modes. Using field data from the metro station in Nanjing, China, a micro-simulation model of alighting and boarding processes based on an improved social force paradigm was built to simulate the movement of passengers under different passenger organizing modes. Unit flow rate, delay, and social force work (SFW) jointly reflect the efficiency and, especially, the physical energy consumption of passengers under each mode. It was found that when passengers alighted and boarded by different doors, efficiency reached its optimal level which was 76.92% higher than the status quo of Nanjing, and the physical energy consumption was reduced by 16.30%. Both the findings and the model can provide support for passenger organizing in metro stations, and the concept of SFW can be applied to other scenes simulated by the social force model, such as evacuations of large-scale activities, to evaluate the physical energy consumption of people.

Resumen
Passenger orientation (pathfinding) is an important factor in designing the layout of comprehensive transportation hubs, especially for static guidance sign systems. In essence, static guidance signs within the hub should be designed according to passengers’ pathfinding demand, that is, to provide passengers with accurate information at the appropriate location. Therefore, from the perspective of passenger information demand, this study aims to determine the appropriate location and density of static guidance information. Two types of passenger information demand in the pathfinding process are defined in this study: one is generated at the path decision point, where multiple path options exist; the other is at the points between decision points, where pathfinders need to confirm that they are still on the correct path. According to the interaction of pathfinding behavior and guidance information, the abstract relationship model is established between macro-behavioral characteristics and the micro-psychological state. Moreover, based on walking speed analysis, the judgment criterion of passenger psychology in pathfinding is proposed to determine the spatial location and density of guidance information. The analysis results of Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport show that, under the threshold of the speed drop section given in the study, 80% of passenger information demand is satisfied when guidance information spacing is 47 m, and 60% of information demand is satisfied when the spacing is 56 m. The findings presented in this paper can provide a reference for the optimal design of static guidance information in comprehensive transportation hubs.

Resumen
Passenger evacuation on elevated railway lines has always been an important issue for elevated rail transit safety management, because it is challenging to evacuate passengers efficiently in the event of man-made calamities and natural disasters. Therefore, an evacuation walkway has been designed as a primary solution to assist passenger evacuation during an emergency on elevated rail transit lines. However, investigations on how evacuation walkway designs influence passenger evacuation time are still limited. This study established two evacuation scenarios of interval evacuation on elevated rail transit lines and put forward a new evacuation time measurement method, based on the concept of ‘evacuation time for passengers leaving the evacuation walkway risk zone’. Then, the evacuation time for 90 combinations of entrance widths and walkway widths was simulated by a multi-agent evacuation simulator, Pathfinder, considering 1032 passengers being evacuated both unidirectionally and bidirectionally. The results show that the entrance width and walkway width have a combined effect on passenger evacuation time. An increase in the walkway width from 0.7 m to 1.5 m may potentially reduce the evacuation time by 54.5% in unidirectional evacuation, and 35.2% in bidirectional evacuation. An increase in the entrance width results in a noticeable evacuation time fluctuation when the walkway width is 0.7 and 0.8 m for both evacuation scenarios, while in a bidirectional evacuation, a noticeable fluctuation also can be observed when the walkway width is within the range of 1.4–1.5 m. According to the study, a potentially good design parameter combination for a newly built evacuation walkway is 1.3 m and 1.4 m for the walkway width and entrance width, respectively. The findings from this study may provide a useful reference in the optimization of the design of evacuation facilities and improvement of passenger evacuation safety in rail transit systems.

Resumen
The internet of things (IoT), is a system of interrelated computing devices, mechanical and digital machines, objects, animals or people that are provided with the ability to transfer data over a network without requiring human-to-human or human-to-computer interaction (Gismalla Abdullah, 2017). The internet of things helps people live and work smarter as well as gain complete control over their lives. A passenger car is a road motor vehicle, intended for the carriage of passengers and designed to seat no more than nine persons. The problems occur in passenger car when there is no device that monitor the quality of air in the car’s cabins. Air Quality Detector is an automatic system that being developed to send the value of Carbon Dioxide (CO2) level in car to LCD display and Blynk App. The existing low-end car do not have any system that can notify the passengers regarding the CO2 level in the car. As a solution, this innovation able to detect exact condition of carbon dioxide level in car to the LCD display and Blynk app to be warned by the passenger. Air Quality Detector has been simulated to run successfully in term of controlling and monitoring CO2 in the car.

Resumen
A multichannel feedforward headrest system for the active control of interior road noise in a vehicle cabin is built. The remote microphone technique is applied, which enables the estimation of the sound pressure responses at the passenger's ear positions without direct deployment of error microphones there. The optimal observation filter for the remote microphone technique is formulated in a so-called training stage using signals measured at two error microphones on the passenger's ears and an array of four to five monitoring microphones on the headrest, passenger seat and vehicle ceiling. The estimation accuracy of the observation filter is investigated through simulations and road test. Regarding the causality error encountered in a certain test case where the passenger leans forward, thus making the noise signals arrive at the monitoring microphones prior to the error ones, a delay factor is added into the original remote microphone technique to correctly compensate for the time delay. The noise attenuation performance of the active headrest system is then experimentally and subjectively determined, indicating a larger noise abatement in a wider spatial environment by applying the remote microphone technique.

Resumen
Jeepneys are the most accessible and affordable public transportation in urban areas of the Philippines. The goal of this research was to explore passenger satisfaction with the overall service quality of a jeepney. A total of 600 jeepney passengers voluntarily answered an online questionnaire consisting of 59 questions. Different factors such as Passenger Expectation, Cleanliness and Comfort, Ambiance, Safety, Driver Behavior, Service Adequacy, Route Efficiency, Information Materials, Value for Money, Passenger Satisfaction, and Future Intentions were examined simultaneously by utilizing the structural equation modeling (SEM) approach. SEM indicated that safety was found to have the highest effect on passenger satisfaction, followed by the driver’s behavior, value for money, service adequacy, and information materials. This is the first complete study that explores passenger satisfaction with the overall service quality of jeepneys. The findings of this study can be utilized by the government and jeepney operators to enhance the overall service quality by focusing on safety and the behavior of drivers. This would result in increased passenger satisfaction and, consequently, a positive intention on using the mode of transportation.

Resumen
AbstractKnowledge about personal aerosol exposure in different environments is fundamental for individual and common decision-making, shaping the way we build our infrastructure or change our social behaviours. Aerosols are a leading cause of death and well-known vector for infectious diseases. Yet, passenger exposure to aerosols during long-distance train travel is surprisingly underexplored. Two small, light-weight personal monitoring instruments were employed during a train journey across Europe, to measure the fine particle (PM2.5) and equivalent black carbon (eBC) passenger exposure, respectively. The journey was divided into three legs, inside three different trains, and two layovers in city environments. Highest mean concentrations of PM2.5 and eBC were found within the oldest train type, and revealed PM2.5 concentrations of 58.4 ± 12.7 μg m−3 and eBC of 5.4 ± 2.9 μg m−3. The more modern the train system was, the lower the measured concentrations were to be found. In the newest tested system, the air quality was considerably better inside the train than outdoor air measured by a monitoring network, or simulated by the Copernicus Atmosphere Monitoring Service (CAMS) model ensemble analysis. The mean PM2.5 concentration was roughly 20% lower inside the train than the outdoor air simulated by CAMS. Both the light-weight personal monitoring and the monitoring network indicate that the CAMS ensemble substantially underestimates PM2.5 concentrations for the day of the journey. Effective ventilation and air filtration significantly decrease the passenger’s aerosol exposure, as compared to a stay in outdoor air, leading to a small statistical increase in life expectancy. If this could also reduce the risk of contagion with an infectious disease remains to be explored.

Resumen
To solve the problems of bus bunching and large gaps, this study combines bus holding and speed adjusting to alleviate them respectively considering the characteristics of passenger’s perceived waiting time. The difference between passenger’s perceived waiting time at stops and actual time is described quantitatively through the expected waiting time of passengers. Bus holding based on a threshold method is implemented at any stops for bunching buses, and speed adjusting based on a Markovian decision model is implemented at limited stops for lagging buses. Simulations based on real data of a bus route show that the integrated control strategy is able to improve the service reliability and to decrease passengers’ perceived waiting time at stops. Several insights have been uncovered through performance analysis: (1) The increase of holding control strength results in improvement of the headway regularity, and leads to a greater perceived waiting time though; (2) Compared to traveling freely, suitable speed guidance will not slow down the average cruising speed in the trip; (3) The scale of passenger demand and through passengers are the two key factors influencing whether a stop should be selected as a speed-adjusting control point.

Resumen
Passenger behavior analysis is a key issue in passenger assignment research, in which the path choice is a fundamental component. A highly complex transit network offers multiple paths for each origin–destination (OD) pair and thus resulting in more flexible choices for each passenger. To reflect a passenger’s flexible choice for the transit network, the optimal strategy was proposed by other researchers to determine passenger choice behavior. However, only strategy links have been searched in the optimal strategy algorithm and these links cannot complete the whole path. To determine the paths for each OD pair, this study proposes the depth-first path generation algorithm, in which a strategy node concept is newly defined. The proposed algorithm was applied to the Beijing metro network. The results show that, in comparison to the shortest path and the K-shortest path analysis, the proposed depth-first optimal strategy path generation algorithm better represents the passenger behavior more reliably and flexibly.

Resumen
There are increasing calls for regular monitoring and evaluation of safety and security strategies of public transport (PT) operators, especially in developing countries where PT safety and security concerns abound. In respect of this, this study examined the passenger safety and security interventions of PT operators in Ghana. Both the accident-incident theory and routine activities theory served as the theoretical framework within which the study was rooted. Guided by the convergent parallel mixed methods design, data were drawn from in-depth interviews with six major intercity PT operators as well as questionnaires administered to 273 intercity PT passengers. The field data were analysed using both thematic (qualitative data) and correlational (quantitative data) analyses in line with the study design. Varied perspectives on the state of PT passenger safety and security in the country were expressed, and operators’ interventions in this regard were appraised. The study emphasised the need for periodic review of the regulatory framework establishing public transport undertaking by the Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) to reflect changing safety and security circumstances. Keywords: Public transport operators; passenger safety; security; interventions; Ghana

Resumen
The COVID-19 outbreak in 2020 has changed the way people travel due to its highly contagious nature. In this study, changes in the travel behavior of passengers due to COVID-19 in the first half of 2020 were examined. To determine whether COVID-19 has affected the use of transportation by passengers, paired t-tests were conducted between the passenger volume of private vehicles in Seoul prior to and after the pandemic. Additionally, the passenger occupancy rate of different modes of transportation during the similar time periods were compared and analyzed to identify the changes in monthly usage rate for each mode. In the case of private vehicles and public bicycles, the usage rates have recovered or increased when compared to those of before the pandemic. Conversely, bus and rail passenger service rates have decreased from the previous year before the pandemic. Furthermore, it is found that existing bus and rail users have switched to the private auto mode due to COVID-19. Based on the results, traffic patterns of travelers after the outbreak and implications responding to the pandemic are discussed.
