Resumen
Mushrooms are an alternative in meeting the need for high protein foods, but their availability is not matched by increased production. Efforts that can be made to increase the productivity of straw mushroom is to provide counseling and training to farmers about mushroom cultivation. Counseling and training on straw mushroom nurseries was given to farmers in Kutaampel Village. This paper aims to determine the participation of farmers in Kutaampel Village in counseling activities and technical training on cultivation and making seed baglogs for spreading F3 and F4 edible mushroom UNSIKA. The method used is the andragogy training method and will be held on 06 October 2022 in Kutaampel Village. The data analysis used is descriptive with reference to Arnstein's (1969) theory, namely the theory of participation which is called The Ladder of Participation theory. Based on the data analysis conducted, the level of participation of farmers in Kutaampel Village in participating in extension activities and technical training on cultivation and making baglogs for spreading F3 and F4 Unsika mushroom seeds was seen from the forms of farmer participation, namely presence, knowledge and benefits. The level of farmer participation in Kutaampel Village is at the level of the fourth rung of the consultation ladder out of a total of eight rungs of the Arnstein participation ladder (manipulation, Therapy, Informing, Consultation, Placement, Partnership, Delegated power, and Citizen control). Key Words: Cultivation, Participatio, Straw Mushroom

Resumen
Customer participation is one of the critical research issues in service management. This study draws on the client participation concept to explore the content and levels of customer participation in public services (Lithuanian elderships). By integrating Unified Service theory, Service Dominant logic, and using a research design with 12 interviews and 600 participating customer survey, the study confirms the three level customer participation model, identifies four categories of participating customers and shows how sociodemographic characteristics affect customer participation level. Data suggest that public service providers need to pay attention to customer participation management (identification, selection, education and motivation).

Resumen
Purpose The traditional concept of people’s participation through their representatives is changing to the mechanism of direct participation of community people in the local governing process. In coupling with these, the Constitution of Bangladesh and the local government acts guarantee to foster the direct participation of people in the formation of local bodies and development programs. The purpose of this paper is to explore the avenues of people’s participation in local government, particularly the Union Parishad (UP) in Bangladesh, and to evaluate the empowerment of marginalized community through those avenues. Design/methodology/approach Using a broad descriptive and analytical approach, this paper evaluates the relationship between participation and empowerment of local community based on the review of secondary sources of information. Findings The local government institutions, particularly UP, has existed many mechanisms through which people participate in decision-making process. It is also believed that participation of community people in local government institutions is not only an opportunity for them but also an apparatus of empowerment. Hence, the process of empowerment is entrenched in the notion of participation. It is evident that the people at grass root level have been participating in UP in diverse arrangements, but the effectiveness of these participations in terms of empowerment is still meager and even lack. Originality/value Though a long time has passed after introducing these participatory mechanisms, very few studies have undertaken to assess the people’s participation in local government. Additionally, no single initiative was undertaken to assess how empowerment of marginalized people happened through these initiatives as empowering community people is the key objective of it.

Resumen
Traditional tourism development has adopted a top-down approach, and the role of government has primarily been decision making and regulation in regard to tourism development. There has been growing interest in residents’ participation in tourism destination development and management. The study aims provide empirical evidence by examining the relationship between participative leadership, empowerment, and tourism participation among residents living in the provinces near the borders in Korea. We examine the economic benefits derived from tourists as a moderator. A total of 758 questionnaires were used. This study performed descriptive analysis, factor analysis, and structural equation modeling (SEM). This study examined the effects of participative leadership and empowerment on three categories of residents’ participation in tourism in DMZ areas in South Korea. This present study tests the relationships between and evaluated the effects of participatory leadership and resident empowerment on three types of resident participation. Participative leadership positively influences empowerment and resident participation. In addition, a positive effect of psychological empowerment between participative leadership and participation as a mediator was found. Participative leadership affects motivational processes, and psychological empowerment leads to participation. The results found that residents perceive their participation as important, and there is no difference based on the additional income they derive from tourism. The study contributes to the enhancement of sustainable development and a deeper understanding of how residents act. Furthermore, the results can provide direction for the creation of participative approaches in tourism development.

Resumen
The purposes of this study are to analysis and group the participations’ obstacles of users in usage management and the irrigation networks maintenance in Semnan province. It was applied research and causal-correlation method was used. The statistical population of the study consists of all farmers having used irrigation networks in the Semnan province (Garmsar and Damghan town) having a population over of 18650 and finally 255 of which answered the questions. The main instrument used for date collection was questionnaire. To determine validity, the questionnaires were given to experts and some doctorate students, and then to evaluate reliability of the questionnaires, a pretest has been done, which was on 30 random farmers of Tehran (Varamin area), the gained questionnaire’s Alpha Coefficient was %88, it shows suitable reliability of the questionnaires. the main obstacles for the farmers’ participation were political obstacles (government’s inattention to roles of non–governmental organizations, the government’s inattention to users’ ownership right, the users being’s not clear of goals of participation, the focus of the maintenance and management activities of irrigation networks by the government, The government’s inattention to role of council) which have the most share (31.12) and then economical obstacles were (not economical in the maintenance and management of irrigation networks, lack of credits necessary for programs, usage management and the irrigation networks maintenance projects having the late outcome, financial inability for participation). Psychological and personal factors (unwell physical state for participation; programs are not adaptive with the farmers’ needs) which have the least share (3.39) in explaining total variance of the participations’ obstacles of users in usage management and the irrigation networks maintenance. These 5 factors explained 66.12 of total variance of all public participation’s obstacles in the usage management and the irrigation networks maintenance.

We show experimentally that whether and how communication achieves beneficial social outcomes in a hidden-information context depends crucially on whether low-talent agents can participate in a Pareto-improving outcome. Communication is effective (and pat terns of lies and truth quite systematic) when this is feasible, but otherwise completely ineffective. We examine the data in light of two potentially relevant behavioral models: cost-of-lying and guilt-from-blame. (JEL D82, D83, Z13)

Workers' participation can contribute to industrial democracy in Germany -this was one of the conceptual cornerstones of the state-financed German humanization program in its early phase (1976-1980). Experiences from that period are discussed in the light of the concept of reflective modernization and under current conditions of mass unemployment and economic crisis: What are the perspectives of participation in this socio-economic context? What might social science research contribute?

Resumen
Aiming at rendering “somewhat irrelevant” the “question of sadism” in the critique of film’s “seductive epistemological promise,” Leo Bersani and Ulysse Dutoit argued for a “participation in the film” that is “at once self-reflexive and self-shattering.” Such participation may bring about the very panhuman condition of “being-togetherness” that Bersani and Dutoit have registered in the ontology of Alain Resnais’s and Terrence Malick’s films. This peculiar “community of all being” is based on a specific (and paradoxical) kind of movement within the spatiality of a remembrance engendered by the inhibition of movement. Certain films thus render possible connection and participation due to the mobility they entail.

Resumen
Abstract The key to achieving an effective and sustainable geopark waste management system is fostering community participation. This research about the Gunung Sewu Geopark, Yogyakarta, Indonesia, examines the phases and levels of community participation in waste reduction. The study involved surveying 1,757 respondents aged 18 and above using door-to-door questionnaires, which were analysed using the conditional probability method to determine participation stages and levels. The results indicate that community participation in waste reduction activities, such as composting and recycling is inadequate, with only 21.12% of respondents participating in the decision-making stage, 1.99% participating in the implementation stage, and 0.68% finding waste reduction activities valuable. Rural community participation level scores were 0.68 and categorised as very low. The incomplete stages of participation and low levels of participation are significant challenges for implementing sustainable waste management and maintaining conservation principles in Gunung Sewu Geopark. Further research could be conducted to determine the driving factors that most influence rural community participation so that geopark policymakers can develop strategies to increase participation more effectively and to targets.

Resumen
Although there have been several attempts to explore for beneficial effects of research participation in social sciences, most of them have mainly explored satisfaction and students learning perceptions (e.g., Bowman & Waite, 2003). Very few works have studied learning by measuring exam performance. Moreover, participation has been usually conceptualized as a mixture of active and passive participation, including in the same measure different practices such as filling up questionnaires, running experiments or reading and answering questions about a journal article or a scientific conference. The present work tries to determine if there is an advantage due to research participation comparing exam performance, satisfaction and perceived learning of the matter Research Methods in Psychology, in three different groups (non-participating, passive and active participating). As we can see in the results, the mere participation benefits exam performance. Results are discussed in terms of the use of research participation as a new powerful active method in education.

Resumen
INTRODUCTION AND AIMS Community-based walking and running groups have become popular social phenomena in recent years. Integrating individuals with Parkinson’s disease into community-based walking and running events confers multiple socio-biological benefits, but may be problematic for individuals with Parkinson’s disease in the later stages of the disease progression. METHODS This research evaluates the participation of a group of individuals with Parkinson’s disease in a long-standing community running festival, the Gold Coast Marathon Festival. Evaluation of participation comprised: 1) description of the activities undertaken by the Exercise Physiologists to ensure the safe and effective participation of the interested parties; and 2) a qualitative evaluation of the participant’s experiences with the event. RESULTS Ten adults with Parkinson’s disease (70% male), mean age 69.6 ± 7.8 years (range = 57-79) participated. Time post-diagnosis ranged 1 to 15 years (mean = 6.7 ± 4.4 years). Participants registered to complete one of two distances: 5.7 km (n = 9) or 700 m (n = 1). Activities undertaken by the Exercise Physiologist prior to participating were divided into three themes: participation, safety, and administrative requirements. Participant experiential data was divided into six themes: preparation prior to participating; pre participation planning and organisation; reasons/meaning for choosing to participate; barriers for participating; event recovery; and event suitability. The data collated was triangulated to provide recommendations to facilitate participation in similar events. CONCLUSION The results of this study demonstrate that with effective planning and coordination, participation in community-based walking and running events confer physical and mental health benefits for individuals with Parkinson’s disease. However, significant barriers need to be addressed prior to participation to ensure meaningful participation. This paper provides recommendations for practicing Exercise Physiologists who wish to promote participation of their own clients with Parkinson’s disease in similar initiatives.

Resumen
Abstract Adults with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) demonstrate low levels of community participation, though no studies have examined the perceived value and satisfaction when assessing community participation among young adults with ASD. Using the Temple University Community Participation measure, young adults with and without ASD were compared on the frequency, perceived importance, and satisfaction of community participation. Adults with ASD participated less frequently in participation areas and identified fewer important participation areas. Importantly, no differences were reported in satisfaction with participation between the two groups despite adults with ASD participating less frequently in the community. Results suggest a need for further exploration of predictors of poor community participation in adults with ASD, as well as effective interventions targeting community participation in this population.

Resumen
The goal of this qualitative study was to discover the nature of the factors that may demotivate university EFL students from participating in class. While previous studies conducted have focused on factors that affect classroom participation in general, this study involved in-depth interviews and observations in order to gain a comprehensive overview of the demotivating factors that impact EFL student participation levels. The study focuses on the participants’ participation habits and their perceptions of the factors that may inhibit it, that discourage learners from participating fully in class, and that effect learning negatively. The findings suggest that students’ perceptions of participation and their self-esteem and confidence affect their level of participation. They also indicate that the teacher’s role is an important variable in why students decide to remain silent.

Resumen
This scoping review aims to explore the current evidence regarding participation in social activities among healthy older adults and the types of social activities. The Web of Science, Scopus, and PubMed databases were used to search for potential studies published from 2013 to 2023, and 24 studies met our inclusion criteria. The findings revealed variability in the types and number of social activities utilized in the included studies. This review has identified three main categories of social activities: formal social activities, informal social activities, and online social activities. Formal social activities can be further categorized into four sub-categories: participation in religious activities, participation in senior citizen clubs or senior centers, participation in education classes or programs, and participation in community groups, associations, or organizations. On the contrary, informal social activities can be categorized into seven sub-categories: connecting with family or relatives, connecting with friends, connecting with the community, participating in leisure activities, participating in outdoor activities, participating in indoor activities, and participating in physical activities. In conclusion, this review has identified critical and up-to-date evidence on social activities participated in by healthy older adults. With the growing attention on promoting successful aging, the results gathered from this review can significantly inform various community stakeholders in planning strategies to cultivate social participation among this population group.

Resumen
Abstract Using Canadian national data from the Workplace and Employee Survey (WES), this study aims to identify predictors of participation in voluntary vocational training for female and male managers, respectively. Results show a higher rate of participation for female managers and a differential effect of predictors by gender. For men, schooling is the sole human capital variable significantly linked to the probability of participating in voluntary vocational training. For women, the probability of participating in voluntary vocational training varies by age, organizational tenure and schooling. Results also indicate that both participation in mandatory training and family responsibilities are significantly and negatively linked to participation in voluntary training for female managers but not for male managers.

Materials and methods. Sixty-three obese children with a mean age of 10.80 ± 0.58 were included in the study. Participants participated in sports, including judo, table tennis and basketball, for three months at their schools. Body weight, waist circumference and hip circumference of the participants were measured before and after participating in sports. Before and after participating in sports, grip strength, bent arm hanging, single-leg stance balance and plate tapping tests were applied to the participants. Results. While before participating in sports, BMI, waist and hip circumference outcomes of the participants were 23.04 ± 2.89 cm/m2, 81.61 ± 8.56 cm and 87.69 ± 6.52 cm, respectively; after participating in sports, BMI, waist circumference and hip circumference outcomes were 22.51 ± 2.88 cm/m2, 79.38 ± 8.74 cm and 85.73 ± 6.65 cm, respectively. The results of the single leg balance and bent arm-hanging tests after participation in sports increased compared to the results which before participating in sports (p < 0.05). However, the results of plate tapping test results that after participation in sports were less than the results which before participating in sports (p < 0.05). The result obtained from the grip strength after participation in sports was not different from the result obtained before participating in sports (p > 0.05). Conclusions. Participation in regular sports in obese children has positive effects on BMI, waist circumference and hip circumference, which are associated with chronic diseases. Additionally, the participation of obese children in regular sports contributes to the development of physical fitness parameters, which are indicators of health.

Resumen
In 2022, Brebes Regency will carry out the 3rd stage of Simultaneous Village Head Elections, including in Bangsri Village, which involves the participation of Beginner Voters. Political participation is a form of citizen participation in the political process. In a democracy, the people are expected to actively participate in politics. The political participation of the Bangsri Village novice voters can be seen in various forms, including Pre-Election, During Election and Post-Election. Judging from the three forms of participation, the participation of novice voters in the Bangsri Village head election looks low. This study uses the theory of Political Participation (Gabriel Almond), namely the Conventional Political Participation Form, which is a normal and legal form of participation as a research analysis knife and as an instrument to conduct in-depth studies to determine the political participation of the Bangsri Village community. This study uses descriptive qualitative research methods. Descriptive analysis method is used to obtain a systematic, factual and accurate description of the facts, characteristics and relationships between the phenomena being investigated. The results of this study indicate that the Political Participation of Beginner Voters in the Election of the Bangsri Village Head, Bulakamba District in participation in the KPPS Committee and Officer, knowing DPT information, seeing the determination and taking of the serial number of the village head candidate, participating in the Timses of one of the candidates, participating in the campaign agenda , voting, and watching the vote count is still considered low. There are several factors that cause the political participation of novice voters is still low, namely the heavy factor in work, heavy on school, wandering, and lack of experience. So that the political participation of novice voters in Bangsri Village is still not maximized.

Citizens perceive crime prevention as the task of a criminal justice institution, but the police, one of the criminal justice institutions, has a vacuum in crime prevention and policing activities due to excessive policing duties. Accordingly, the participation of the private sector in crime prevention, that is, a way to activate citizen participation, was actively discussed among criminal and criminal justice and police scholars and practitioners. However, civic participation in crime prevention is currently experiencing many limitations rather than being activated. This study intends to examine the limitations by exploring the types and limitations of citizen participation in crime prevention and deriving problems. As a result, there is a limit to civic participation. First, there is a lack of publicity for the Citizens Police Academy due to the lack of channels for citizen participation in crime prevention activities. Second, the simplification of the participating organizations or participating personnel of the crime prevention conference. Third, there is a limit to citizens' awareness and participation in reporting crimes. Fourth, it was considered as insufficient support for autonomous crime prevention unit activities. Therefore, future research directions were suggested through consideration of the limitations.

Resumen
Purpose This paper aims to provide empirical evidence on formal stakeholder participation (or “lobbying”) in the early phase of the International Sustainability Standards Board’s (ISSB’s) standard-setting. Design/methodology/approach Drawing on a rational-choice framework, this paper conducts a content analysis of comment letters (CLs) submitted to the ISSB in response to its first two exposure drafts (published in 2022) to investigate stakeholder participation across different groups and jurisdictional origins. The analyses examine participation in terms of frequency (measured using the number of participating stakeholders) and intensity (measured using the length of CLs). Findings Preparers and users of sustainability reports emerge as the largest participating stakeholder groups, while the accounting/sustainability profession participates with high average intensity. Surprisingly, preparers do not outweigh users in terms of participation frequency and intensity; and large preparers outweigh smaller ones in terms of participation intensity but not participation frequency. Internationally, stakeholders from countries with a private financial accounting standard-setting system participate more frequently and intensively than others. In addition, country-level economic wealth and sustainability performance are positively associated with more participating stakeholders. Practical implications This study is of interest for organizations and stakeholders involved in or affected by standard-setting in the field of sustainability reporting. The finding of limited participation by investors and from developing countries suggests the ISSB take actions to enhance the voice of those stakeholders. Social implications The imbalances in stakeholder participation that were found pose potential threats to an important aspect of the input legitimacy of the ISSB’s standard-setting process. Originality/value To the best of the authors’ knowledge, this paper is the first to explore stakeholder participation by means of CLs with the ISSB in terms of frequency and intensity.
