Resumen
This research examines parents’ perceptions of quality on early childhood services as they support families in the care and education of children. Data were collected from parents of under school-aged children using interviews, questionnaires and focus groups. Data analysis has enabled a determination of: the link between parents’ perceptions of quality and early childhood professionals’ views as expressed in the literature; parents’ satisfaction with services and the evaluation processes used by them; opportunities available to parents to engage with service staff to influence the quality of the services provided; and parents’ knowledge and use of the information services provided by the National Childcare Accreditation Council to assist them in their decision making regarding early childhood services. Results showed that communication between parents and staff is problematic. An accretion model of communication is developed to enhance the quality of early childhood services by promoting shared understanding and values between parents and staff, enabling parents to take part in decision making and minimising perceptions of threat to staff’s professional integrity

Resumen
The number of babies that require care in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit continues to rise in the UK and parents who have a baby who is born sick or prematurely find themselves adapting to this stressful and often unexpected event whilst also trying to establish their role as a new parent. With no current large British studies, this study explores the experiences of both mothers and fathers in the NICU in relation to adaptation and parental role development and how their experience changes over time. In total 76 parents were interviewed using semi structured interviews 7-10 days following the birth to capture their early experiences of the NICU and then again beyond 28 days to explore any changes in their views and feelings over time. Interviews were tape recorded, transcribed verbatim into the written word and imported into WINMAX PRO. Data analysis revealed nine major sections. These are preparation prior to birth, labour and delivery, first sight of infant, support from the partner, family, friends and other parents, support from and communication with staff, adaptation to the NICU experience, development of the parental role, changes with time and the experiences of fathers. Findings show differences in what mothers and fathers find stressful about their NICU experience, how they adapt to the birth of a sick or premature infant and in their development of the parental role. With the passage of time the events surrounding the birth became less significant as parents start to look to the future. Their role as a parent continued to develop with feelings that their baby needed and recognised them, but many parents felt that they were unable to influence what happened to their baby in the NICU. Recommendations are made for further research and for changes to NICU practice.

Resumen
A prominent need in the youth psychotherapy literature includes the examination of mechanisms of change within the context of "real world" clinical settings, where the practice of psychotherapy differs significantly from that in controlled clinical trials. In examining mechanisms of change in youth psychotherapy, variables related to parent functioning may be among the most important factors to consider in predicting and promoting good child outcomes. The purpose of the present study was to evaluate three important aspects of parent functioning—psychological symptom distress, interpersonal relations, and social role performance—as potential predictors of successful treatment outcomes in a traditional community outpatient treatment setting for children and adolescents. Further, this study examined whether parents indirectly benefited from their children receiving services, expanding our view on the scope and benefits inherent in youth psychotherapy. Parent Symptom Distress, Interpersonal Relations, and Social Role performance were measured using the domains of the Outcome Questionnaire 45 (OQ-45; Lambert et al., 2004), and youth treatment outcomes were measured using the parent and self-report versions of the Youth-Outcome Questionnaire (Y-OQ; Burlingame, Wells, Lambert, & Cox, 2004; Y-OQ-SR; Wells, Burlingame & Rose, 2003). Using Hierarchical Linear Modeling with this sample of 339 youth, aged 4-17 and their parents, this study examined the relationship between these parent domains and youth progress in therapy. Results revealed that parent Symptom Distress and Social Role performance improved significantly over the course of youth treatment. Further, Social Role performance at intake significantly predicted the rate of change in parent-reported youth outcome; and Interpersonal Relations at intake significantly predicted rate of change in youth-reported outcome. Finally, changes in parent Social Role performance were associated with changes in youth symptoms over the course of treatment. Examining the associations between these variables is an important step toward identifying potential mechanisms of change in youth mental health treatment. The results of this study provide valuable information on the importance of attending to parent functioning in the assessment and treatment of youth mental health issues.

Resumen
This study proposed to explore several factors that promote foster parent satisfaction in order to preserve quality foster homes to serve the 532,000 displaced children currently in the child welfare system. A sample of 52 foster parents were surveyed to determine overall satisfaction with their foster care experience at Children's Way Foster Family Agency in San Bernardino, California. It was hypothesized that the higher the level of foster parent satisfaction, the higher rates of retention. A modified version of an existing instrument titled "Foster Parent Satisfaction Survey" was utilized in this study.

Goedken, Amber Marie. "The impact of parental health coverage on insured children's utilization of health care services". Diss., University of Iowa, 2011. https://ir.uiowa.edu/etd/2706.

Texto completo
Resumen
Over six million insured children belong to families where the parents in their household lack health insurance. Studies have indicated insured low-income children with uninsured parents are less likely to have physician visits and well-child visits than their counterparts with insured parents. However, self-selection may be responsible for the relationship found between parental insurance and well-child visits. No studies have been undertaken to examine the impact of parental insurance on the utilization of children with chronic conditions. Social Cognitive Theory was used to model children's health care utilization and explain the relationship between parental insurance and that utilization. The objectives of the study are to estimate the effect of health insurance for the primary parent on (1) insured children's well-child visits and (2) physician visits for asthma in insured children. This study used a cross-sectional design. The data source was the 2007 Medical Expenditure Panel Survey-Household Component. The sample consisted of children 17 years or less who were insured through the same source(s) for the entire year and had a primary parent who was either insured or uninsured the entire year. The dependent variable for the entire sample was whether or not the child had at least one well-child visit during the year. The dependent variables for the subsample of children with asthma were (1) whether or not the child had at least one asthma-related physician visit and (2) whether or not the child had at least two asthma-related physician visits. The independent variables were the same for the three analyses and were selected to represent the Social Cognitive Theory determinants. These included parent (insurance, sex, worry, education, language, employment, health use, health, risk aversion, and self care expectation), child (source of coverage, age, health, race, and oldest child), and household (Metropolitan Statistical Area, region, number of children, number of parents, and income) variables. Probit and bivariate probit models were estimated for each dependent variable. The percentage of children with insured parents that had a well-child visit during the year was significantly higher than the percentage of children with uninsured parents that had a well-child visit (50.6% vs. 42.8%, respectively). However, multivariate analyses revealed no significant relationship between parental insurance and well-child visits. The percentages of children with insured and uninsured parents that had an asthma-related physician visit were 29.6% and 32.6%, respectively. The percentages that had at least two asthma-related visits were 14.9% and 14.6%, respectively. No significant relationship was found between parental insurance and asthma-related physician visits. The region of the United States where the child lived and whether the child's parent was employed were associated with each type of utilization. Other determinants were also associated with children's utilization, but these varied with the type of utilization. In conclusion, insured children with insured parents are no more likely to have a well-child or asthma-related physician visit during the year than insured children with uninsured parents.

Resumen
This thesis focuses on the relationship between job satisfaction and union membership of long day care employees in Melbourne and Sydney, and uses the exit-voice/union-voice model as an analytical framework. The data includes surveys of child-care staff and students enrolled in child-care courses, interviews with child-care staff, union officials and employer representatives, and official documentation. While child-care workers report high levels of job satisfaction, it is argued that the considerable ‘exit voice’ of the survey respondents is a demonstration of job dissatisfaction. The reported levels of satisfaction are a manifestation of satisfaction with the intrinsic features of the work (child development outcomes) and the limited employment opportunities of females generally. The exit voice is a manifestation of dissatisfaction with the extrinsic features of the job (pay and career advancement). The thesis failed to detect evidence of a strong relationship between job (dis)satisfaction and union membership, due to the ‘caring profession syndrome’, a perceived lack of union instrumentality, and problems associated with the ability of unions to recruit and organise an industry consisting of over 4,000 small workplaces. The findings show that both staff and students are highly sympathetic towards unions, that working in child-care changes attitudes about work but not unions, and that there exists a strong union voice among child-care workers despite the relative low levels of union membership. The thesis discusses the implications for union organisation so that the supply of union membership might correspond with the demands for this membership, particularly in regard to employee motivations and commitments.

Resumen
Most couples eagerly anticipate the birth of their first child. However, the transition to parenthood is also associated with significant lifestyle changes and approximately 50% of couples report a moderate to severe decline in relationship satisfaction and quality. Low relationship satisfaction is associated with increased couple conflict, individual psychological distress, negative parent-child relationships and poor child outcomes. Despite our increasing knowledge of the factors that predict enhanced couple adjustment, few evidence-based programs are available to assist couples' adjustment to parenthood. In this first randomized controlled trial evaluating the effectiveness of a flexible delivery psycho-education program, entitled 'Couple CARE for Parents', 71 pregnant couples were assessed on self-report and observational measures of couple relationship and individual functioning and then randomized into either the Couple CARE for Parents program (n = 35) or a comparison program (n = 36). Couple CARE for Parents was a six unit program, comprising of an antenatal workshop, two home visits and three telephone support calls, and included skill-training in key relationship processes that are predictive of couple relationship quality, with the addition of parenting and baby care information. Among intervention couples the typical decline in female relationship satisfaction was prevented, with only 13% of intervention females reporting a decline in relationship satisfaction from pregnancy to 5 months postpartum, compared to 42% of females in the comparison program. Observed couple communication also improved as a result of the intervention, with Couple CARE for Parents couples showing reliably lower rates of negative speaker and listener skills at post-intervention relative to comparison couples. Couples were highly engaged in Couple CARE for Parents and there was a low drop out rate across the 7 month intervention period. These findings are promising and add to the early intervention studies showing positive effects of couple-focused psycho-education during the transition to parenthood by demonstrating that flexible delivery programs are feasible and attractive to couples. Providing cost-effective couple relationship education to expectant and new parent couples opens another window of opportunity for health professionals and governments to minimize the rates of relationship distress and divorce and their associated negative effects on individual, couple and family functioning.

Resumen
Child Health Services (CHS) in Sweden are offered free of charge to all Swedish parents with children 0-5 years of age.  The regular service schedule includes home visits, health examinations, vaccinations and participation in parenting groups. The CHS should pay extra attention to disadvantaged families. The aim of this thesis was to investigate to what extent the CHS reaches groups of families with special needs, e.g. immigrant families, low income families, young and single mothers, with universal or selective measures, as well as to investigate the variation of two determinants of child health, second hand smoke and breastfeeding, in these groups of families. The thesis also aimed at investigating validity of data in the county CHS quality database (Basta). The thesis is based on data from Basta together with several national registers. The CHS equally reached all families with infants with the universal program except for participation in parenting group. Foreign born, young, single and low-income mothers had lower participation rates. Smoking rates were lower in foreign-born than in Swedish-born mothers and higher for foreign-born than in Swedish-born fathers. Smoking was more common among single and low income parents and young mothers. Young and single mothers had lower breastfeeding rates at 6 months. At 12 months the breastfeeding rates were higher among foreign-born mothers. The validity test of data in the Basta database showed sensitivity values for immunizations, breastfeeding and smoking at 90-100 % and for any home visit, participation in parenting group at any time, a minimum number of 6 visits at the Child Health Centre (CHC) and a minimum number of 11 visits at the CHC at 88 - 96 %. The sensitivity value for the exact match of number of CHC visits (+/- 3 visits) was 88 %. Conclusions: The universal programme was equally distributed in different immigrant and socio-demographic populations. However, the results did not indicate equality according to the assumption that some families need more input than others in order to achieve equity of outcome. Individual data routinely collected from CHS records to a quality database provides data of good quality that can be used for both quality surveillance and research.

Schaefer, Jay M. "Is "good" good enough? a small area variation analysis of disparity in expressed rates of access to and satisfaction with child and adolescent healthcare services in east Central Florida". Doctoral diss., University of Central Florida, 2010. http://digital.library.ucf.edu/cdm/ref/collection/ETD/id/4603.

Resumen
Further research specific to these phenomenon encompassing a clearer understanding of the type of care received and the individual's specific experiences with their healthcare providers was recommended, with ensuing research to better identify commonalities of interactions with specific area providers, local restrictions imposed by area insurance carriers, influences caused by language and/or cultural barriers, and the like as drivers in understanding the individual dynamics of satisfaction.; The purpose of this dissertation research was to explore indications of disparities within the east Central Florida child and adolescent healthcare services market. Structured as a follow-up study to work completed in 2005 under the direction of the Health Council of East Central Florida assessing parental perceptions of community child and adolescent healthcare services, this research extended that evaluation by aggregating participant responses at the county and small area zip code group levels, contextually testing the uniformity of responses in understanding parent perceptions of access to, and satisfaction with, community healthcare service offerings available for children and adolescents. Under a variety of methodologies significance in the responses concerning access to healthcare services were demonstrated between the counties studied. Statistical modeling, however, could not demonstrate the core demographic differences among these data. Data representing perceptions of satisfaction with the services received by children and adolescents were demonstrated at the small area zip code group level within Orange county. Primary effect assessment of the demographic variables representing these respondents yielded findings generally consistent with theoretical expectations of disparity but, notably, the correlation effects between a number of key independent variables demonstrated a mediation of the primary effects on overall perception of satisfaction. Specifically, it was demonstrated that the interaction of white race with possession of private healthcare insurance, and the interaction of greater levels of educational attainment with black race, caused a proportional reduction in the predicted satisfaction score of these survey respondent cohorts.

Resumen
The thesis by publication is comprised of three published studies that examined the experiences of foster and kin carers in Australia specific to carer stress, the stress-satisfaction relationship in providing care, and a comparative look at the wellbeing of foster and kin carers. An anonymous self-report online survey assessed carer reported stress and role satisfaction, their perceptions of the child in their care, and the child protection system in which they provide care. Four main areas were identified specific to carer stress, satisfaction in the care role, access to services, resources and support, and the negative impact of the uncertainty of the child protection system for caregivers. The research highlights the complex and challenging role of caregivers in Queensland.

Resumen
Health-related quality of life is emerging as an important area of health research as disease-oriented descriptions of health give way to positive concepts. The health-related quality of life of children with spina bifida is often described in terms of the nature and severity of their medical condition. In this thesis it was hypothesised that factors other than their medical condition influences health-related outcomes. In fact, the dependency on medical care services to monitor and manage their condition throughout childhood and beyond was identified as a potential determinant of healthrelated quality of life. The aims of the research were to describe the healthrelated quality of life of children with spina bifida and characterise the impact of utilisation and experience with medical care services on reports of health-related quality of life. The research was conducted in two parts. Part A addressed issues related to the measurement of quality of life in child populations and specifically examined the psychometric properties of the main quality of life instrument (the Child Health Questionnaire - CHQ) in a sample of children with spina bifida. It was found that tests were consistent with other studies of similarly chronic conditions and on this basis the CHQ could be used reliably and validly in a sample of children with spina bifida. Part B consisted of three studies designed to examine possible determinants of health-related quality of life in children with spina bifida. In Study One, 115 parent respondents participated in a mail questionnaire to obtain a baseline measure of quality of life in children with spina bifida. In this study clinical and sociodemographic characteristics were examined. The major findings were: the health-related quality of life of children with spina bifida was generally the poorest when compared to reports of other groups of children; aspects of physical health were more likely to be associated with clinical factors; and age differences were observed when psychosocial aspects of health were examined. In Study Two, relationships between functional independence, satisfaction with and utilisation of medical services on reports of health-related quality of life were examined. The data collection methods included an initial face-to-face interview during scheduled clinic appointments to obtain data about functional independence and satisfaction with care. This was then followed by a phone interview within a few days of the visit to obtain a report of health-related quality of life. A sample of 71 families and data related to eighty-six episodes of care contributed to the data collection for this stage of the research. The key findings were: Firstly, severity influenced the physical functioning aspect of health-related quality of life outcomes only and in this study the findings did not suggest that severity was an important determinant of functioning at a psychosocial level. Secondly, it was expected that greater functional independence would translate into higher mean quality of life scores (i.e. better quality of life) across both physical and psychosocial domains. However, the summary measure of functional independence did not appear to be as influential as the measures related to service utilisation and patient satisfaction when one inspects the size of the regression coefficient in these relationships. Thirdly, relationships between health-related quality of life and use of hospital-based services and satisfaction with these services suggest that it is important to distinguish between different types of services and different aspects of satisfaction, as the results in this study suggest they have a differential effect on quality of life. Finally, in terms of the factors that were found to be determinants of specific quality of life domains, the findings in this study seem to reflect a biopsychosocial rather than a biomedical perspective on health. That is, factors other than the medical severity of spina bifida appeared to explain differences in quality of life and it was the psychosocial aspects rather than physical functioning aspects that were primarily affected. In Study Three, the health-related quality of life of participants from Study One was re-assessed after fifteen months. It was found that changes in health reaching statistical significance were physical functioning, behaviour and mental health. Utilisation of medical services did not appear to influence change in quality of life scores (except for visits to the Accident and Emergency Department and radiological investigations on the mental health score). However these findings should not be discounted altogether as clinically, any change may have utility in assessing the impact of particular methods of treatment/rehabilitation. While medical care services make an important contribution to improving the health status of children with spina bifida this finding suggests that there are other factors influencing healthrelated quality of life which were not measured in this research. It is recommended that, the information provided by health-related quality of life measures may be an important adjunct to traditional measures of therapeutic evaluation.

This study examined parents’ satisfaction with the after-school child care service at elementary schools, and was to understand if parents’ satisfaction differed because of their social status, age, educational background, children’s school year, family income, occupation, household status and the ways school handling the service. According to the findings, suggestions were made as references for future educational practitioners and future research. To achieve the aims, the study was conducted through literature review, a questionnaire survey, and data collection and analysis. The literature examined for the study includes research related to after-school child care services in Taiwan and other countries. The questionnaire developed by the researcher was titled “A Study of Parents' Satisfaction about Elementary School Students’ After-school Child Care Service in Taichung County”, and the objects of the questionnaire were mainly 853 parents scattered in 40 different public elementary schools. These data were analyzed through the Chinese version of SPSS for Windows 12.0 statistical software program. Statistical analyses include standard deviation, t-test, and one-way ANOVA. Here are the conclusions from the research: 1. Parents are generally satisfied with the after-school child care service. 2. On social status, educational background, children’s school year, family income, occupation, and household status variables, parents show a significant difference in satisfaction, but there’s no significant difference on age variable. 3. There’s a significant difference in satisfaction on the school background variable-the days of the child care service, class size, finishing time and the members of the students in the class. 4. Taichung County elementary schools conduct the after-school child care service in two manners, self-management and commissioned management. The ratio is 20:1. Parents show a slightly higher satisfaction with the commissioned management, or an equal satisfaction with both. However the difference between the two is not statistically significant, which means there’s no significant difference in satisfaction. Based on these findings, the researcher proposes the following: 1. Sustain the after-school child care services and encourage the schools that haven’t provided the child care service to start it. 2. Extend the service days and hours to meet parents’ need. 3. Improve incentives to commissioned management, and encourage to bring manpower from outside of school. 4. Review the existing regulations and system, and reduce the class size appropriately. 5. Suggest the future researchers to take the disadvantaged students’ parents as studying objects to understand the factors that influence parents to give up this free service. 6. Suggest the future researchers comparing principally taking care of student life with emphasis on talent and club activity services and learning if there's any difference in satisfaction between the two. Keyword: children of parents, after school child care, after-school child care service, parents’ satisfaction

This study aimed to investigate parent satisfaction with after-school child care services for first and second grade students. The research subjects were the parents whose children were studying in the first and second grade of public elementary schools in Taichung County. Stratified purposive sampling method was adopted, and “questionnaire survey” and “semi-structured interviews” were used as the main research instruments. The survey instrument was a self-developed “Questionnaire on Parent'' Satisfaction with Child Care Services for First and Second Grade Students in Elementary Schools”, which consisted of four dimensions, including “teaching and guidance”, “environment and facilities”, “teacher arrangement”, and “charge standard”. A total of 1029 questionnaires were distributed, and 877 of them were collected. The valid response rate was 94%. These data were later analyzed using mean, standard deviation, t-test, and one-way ANOVA. Further, a total of 9 parents were selected for semi-structured interviews. Six conclusions were derived from the research findings: 1. Parents of first and second grade elementary school students were generally satisfied with after-school child care services. 2. The “overall satisfaction” of these parents with after-school child care services varied depending on school scale. 3. The “overall satisfaction” of these parents with after-school child care services did not vary by the region of the school. 4. In the aspect of “teaching and guidance”, schools which “commission an external institution to provide after-school child care” received a higher level of parent satisfaction than schools which “provide after-school child care on their own”. 5. The parent satisfaction with overall or any particular aspect of after-school child care services was not influenced by their age, gender, and education background. 6. The parent satisfaction with overall or any particular aspect of after-school child care services was influenced by their status and how they are subsidized. Finally, based on the above results, suggestions were proposed for parents whose children participate in the after-school child care services, authority concerned, and future researchers, in hope of making some contribution to the future development of after-school child care.

The main purpose of the present study is to conduct a survey in parents’ satisfactions and policy beliefs in child-care service and compare demographic background differences in their opinions. Participants were 605 parents who have infants or toddlers enrolled in nursery schools in Tainan City. Purposive sampling was employed to recruit participants. The data was analyzed by means of descriptive statistics, chi-square, ANOVA, and Scheffé post hoc comparison. The study results are as follows: 1. The majority of parents and primary caretakers are mothers, whereas, in the family childcare supporting system, maternal grandparents were shown to provide the most support when needed. 2. The majority of families are nuclear and double-income. 3. Parents think that the most influential people in their children’s lives are the teachers in their nursery schools. 4. When encountering childcare problems, parents/guardians will first ask for help from childcare teachers. 5. When searching for a childcare center, low SES nuclear families seldom ask for help from the Tainan City Government Bureau of Social Affairs or any related governmental departments. 6. In administrative approach, parents with two children are significantly more satisfied than parents with 3 or more children. 7. In the subcategory “Teacher Quality” of “Education and Care Activity,” grandparents are significantly more satisfied than mothers or fathers. 8. In the subcategory “Infant’s and Toddler’s Language” of “Infant’s and Toddler’s Development,” fathers are significantly more satisfied than mothers. 9. A significant differences was found between parent types on parental subsidies. All types of parents/guardians agree that childrearing subsidies are what is most needed. However, maternity pension is the least concern for mothers and fathers whereas having a friendly environment for raising children is the least concern for grandparents. 10. A significant differences was found between parents' ages on infant support policies. Parents/guardians under age 25 value mostly in public-care services for infants and toddlers, whereas parents/guardians between age 26-40 and over 41 think that childrearing subsidies are the most important issue. 11. A significant difference was found between parent/guardian types on nursery school location. Mothers and fathers will choose a nursery center near their house, whereas grandparents will choose one close to theirs. 12. A significant difference was found between parents' ages on nursery school location. All age group choose a nursery school close to home. For age group under 25 and between 26-40 will less prefer a location close to their grandparents’ house, whereas age group over 41 will less prefer a location close to their spouses’ workplaces. 13. A significant difference was found between family structures on nursery school location. All types of family structures like a nursery school close to home. Nuclear families least favor nursery schools close to their parents’ house, whereas single-parent families least favor nursery schools close to their spouses’ workplaces and their grandparents' house.

Resumen
The purpose of this quantitative study was to examine the interaction between parents’ own trauma and their assessment of their child’s functioning and its relationship to the parent’s belief that their child would benefit from mental health care services. The parents’ trauma experience was measured using the Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) questionnaire and Trauma History Questionnaire (THQ), and the child’s functioning was measured using the Columbia Impairment Scale (CIS). It was hypothesized that the higher number of traumas a parent experienced was associated with a weaker relationship between a parent’s assessment of their child’s functional impairment and the likelihood a parent recognizes the benefit of mental health care services for their child. One hundred and eighty-four people participated in this study. Data were analyzed using multiple binary logistic regression, and no significant relationship was found between a parent’s assessment of their child’s functional impairment and that parent’s belief that their child would benefit from mental healthcare services. The parent’s childhood THQ score and age were found to have significant positive relationships with the parent’s belief that their child would benefit from mental healthcare services. The variable found to have the most significant positive relationship with the parent’s belief that their child would benefit from mental healthcare services was an educational or healthcare professional telling the parent that the child would benefit from mental health care services. Clinical implications, limitations, and future directions for research were addressed.

This research aims at studying the satisfaction towards the conditions of after-preschool child care service by parents in New Taipei City public preschools. The target of the study is to analyze the differences of parents’ satisfactions based on their different backgrounds, and compare the differences of parents’ satisfactions among various kinds of children participating in the preschool. Questionnaire survey is employed as the main research method in this study, and the parents who join the after-preschool child care services in public preschools of New Taipei City in 2017 academic year are asked to fill out the satisfaction questionnaire. Stratified purposive sampling method is used in the survey, the conclusion can be provided as follows. 1.Parents’ satisfactions of New Taipei City public after-preschool child care service have reached satisfactory. 2.There are significant differences in satisfactions of the service in terms of different numbers of participated days, hours, and fees. In particular, those who join the service in five days per week, two hours per day, and those who pay the highest fee, show the highest satisfactions. 3.There are significant differences in satisfactions of the service in terms of different numbers of participated children, where the highest satisfaction lies in a class with less than 20 children. 4.Significance differences in satisfactions of the service appear in different arrangement and manpower of faculties. Specifically, the highest satisfaction is found when faculties are composed of teachers on campus as well as external ones, and a class with three teachers. 5.Different teacher-parent communication has shown significant difference in satisfactions of the service. Communicating in person is given the highest satisfaction by the parents. 6.Different teaching methods provide significant differences in satisfactions of the service. Parents show the greatest satisfactory when group activities are used as the teaching method. 7.Significance differences in satisfactions of the service are found in the penchant of joining the class by children. The more the children like to be in the service, the higher the satisfactory are given by their parents.

Elliot, Janis Sabin. "Employed mothers' satisfaction with child care choices : perceptions of accessibility, affordability, quality, and workplace flexibility". Thesis, 1996. http://hdl.handle.net/1957/34665.

Texto completo
Resumen
Interest in child care has grown dramatically, yet little is known about how families manage to ensure appropriate child care. In a secondary analysis of data from 642 employed mothers representing a wide range of income levels, this research identified the factors contributing most to mothers' satisfaction with child care arrangements. The study used an ecological model with accessibility, affordability, quality, and workplace flexibility as characteristics of the exosystem, and household income, presence of a spouse or partner, and age of the youngest child as characteristics of the microsystem. The research explored how individual family characteristics combine with environmental characteristics to impact parental satisfaction. Three questions guided the study: (a) How do accessibility, affordability, quality of child care arrangements, and workplace flexibility affect parental satisfaction with child care arrangements? (b) How do income, household structure, and child's age affect parental satisfaction with child care arrangements? (c) How do these characteristics combine to affect parental satisfaction with child care arrangements? As proposed, the study found that for most mothers in the study, accessibility and quality combine with income and household structure to impact satisfaction with child care arrangements. Poorer women who pay a greater percentage of household income had more concerns about quality and were more dissatisfied with their child care arrangement than women paying a lower percentage of income for care. Despite concerns about quality for mothers paying a greater percentage of income for care, affordability contributed more than quality to satisfaction with child care. The data provided evidence of a different trade-off for lower income families. The results of this study have relevance for policies which address the needs of families at all income levels. The policy principles based on the results of the study include: 1. Basic health and safety regulations are important to quality and stability of care for all parents. 2. Financial assistance with the cost of child care is important, especially for those working families just above the poverty level. 3. Public support of services to improve child care is important to addressing the needs of all employed mothers, regardless of income status.

Khoza, Sinenhlanhla Zamakhoza. "Subjective experiences of happiness : a case for residential child care workers". Thesis, 2012. http://hdl.handle.net/10413/9338.

Texto completo
Resumen
The non-profit sector is one that is of great importance as it responds to the needs of society, and hence gives support to various social and economic endeavours. Particularly, residential child care work is a response to the ever increasing number of children who are orphaned, abandoned, neglected and affected by the HIV/Aids pandemic. Residential child care workers provide institutional care to such children. The role of a child care worker is one that is reported to be highly pressured and involves many challenges which have the potential of impacting on the quality of care that is provided by the care giver to the children. In light of the increasing research done on the area of happiness within the workplace which shows that happiness contributes to overall organisational success and helps employees cope with challenges this study explored this construct among residential child care workers; a research area which remains under researched. The aim of the study was to explore the subjective experiences of happiness among residential child care workers using positive psychology as a conceptual framework. The study sought to gain an understanding of the perceptions and experiences of happiness among residential child care workers through Seligman’s (2002) framework of achieving happiness through pleasure, engagement and meaning. The exploration of the subjective experiences of happiness among residential child care workers was done through the use of Fredrickson’s (1998) Broaden and Build Theory. The study used a qualitative research design and residential child care workers were interviewed on their perceptions and experiences of happiness. The findings suggested that, even through the challenges that the residential child care workers faced, there was still an overall sense of happiness that the care givers experienced in relation to their work. This was generally as a result of the nature of their work and their alignment to the overall mission of the children’s home. The findings suggested also that it was through the orientations of pleasure and meaning that the greatest happiness was experienced. This experience of general happiness in their work made the residential child care workers feel as though they could deal with challenges and also contributed positively to their role as child care givers. The findings of the study contribute to the increasing body of knowledge in the area of happiness and the experiences of residential child care workers. The findings can also help managers and directors of children’s homes know which aspects to encourage and cultivate in their employees for the experience of happiness and positive work relations and experiences. This can ultimately contribute positively to overall success of orphanages and children’s homes, and also to the quality of care that is given to children.

The after-school child care is widely needed because of the change of society, the change of family function, and the implement of Grade 1-9 Curriculum which makes parents can not help children with their multi homework. The learning effect of children at after-school child care will decide if the after-school child care center can run successfully. Good curriculums of an after-school child care center will guarantee the learning effect of children. However, teachers play the most important role in a successful after-school child care. Teachers have to help children from different classes with their homework in a short time, handle all kind of problems, arrange some group activities, communicate with children’s parents, and keep the minimum number children that make ends meet. Do teachers satisfy with their works and reach high effectiveness? This research studies how much after-school child care teacher’s job satisfaction affects their effectiveness to improve the learning effect of after-school child care children and make sure the success of an after-school child care center. The objective of this research is to explore the relationship between job satisfaction of after-school child care services and teacher’s effectiveness. Literature review and questionnaire are used in this research. Five conclusions are obtained after doing SPSS 17.0 Statistics Software Independent Sample T Test, One-Way ANOVA, Pearson Product-Moment Correlation Test, Simple and Multiple Regression Analysis: 1. In recent years, society in Taiwan has changed, and so have family structures. This has resulted in certain phenomena such as a rapid increase in double-income families, more single-parent families and more situations in which grandparents take care of children. Due to parents’ working hours, they cannot pick up their children after school on time. Moreover, the decrease in the number of children causes parents to pay more attention to their children’s education. In response to the demands of parents, the variety of after-school child-care institutions has increased. The focus of this research is to examine the current situation and the teachers’ satisfaction with after-school child-care services at elementary schools in Banciao, New Taipei City, in order to identify the problems of after-school child-care services and consequently suggest some solutions. The empirical data of the research was collected by interviews and questionnaires.
