This paper is dedicated to the theatrical novel by Tadeusz Kudliński, Świętokradca (1947), in which a fictional dialogue between the author of the novel and the performance concept of Shakespeare’s Hamlet by Juliusz Osterwa is being held. Analysis of the novel, in which a metatextual frame is included as well, is confronted with earlier considerations of Wanda Świątkowska, who had conducted a close analysis of Juliusz Osterwa’s Hamlet, considering his personal and professional relationship with Tadeusz Kudliński, too. The novel Świętokradca, released in the year of Osterwa’s death, not only provides another interpretation of Hamlet, but also makes an attempt to combine both Kudliński’s and Osterwa’s concepts.

Osterwa, zainteresowany ezoteryką, antropozofią i romantycznym spirytualizmem, członek pierwszej założonej w niepodległej Polsce loży masońskiej, miał w środowisku wolnomularskim rozległe kontakty i wykorzystywał je do realizacji planów teatralnych.

Autor charakteryzuje społeczną i artystyczną postawę Osterwy wobec nowej rzeczywistości i przypomina rolę, jaką odegrał on w odbudowywaniu polskiego teatru po wojnie.

Kraków i prapremiery sztuk Wyspiańskiego, Kosów Huculski i zakład przyrodoleczniczy Apolinarego Tarnawskiego. Wśród problemów poruszanych w tekście najważniejsze dotyczą charakteru wzajemnego wpływu Lutosławskiego i Osterwy: poprzez dzieła (słowo pisane, grę aktorską), bezpośredni, osobisty kontakt i formowanie poglądów, wspólne przedsięwzięcia (szczególnie istotne w okresie okupacji, gdy obaj mieszkali w Krakowie lub okolicach).

Juliusz Osterwa podczas drugiej wojny światowej, którą postrzegał jako czas oczyszczenia i pokuty, planował powołanie dwóch bractw aktorskich – Genezji i Dali. Dal miała być bractwem świeckim, Genezja – religijnym, a dokładniej katolickim. W wojennych dziennikach i zeszytach tematycznych przygotowywał projekty działania tych stowarzyszeń mających służyć całkowitemu przeobrażeniu teatru.

The purpose of this article is to present two different theories about the “theatre of the word,” the first of these theories held by Juliusz Osterwa, and the second one held by Mieczysław Kotlarczyk and Karol Wojtyła. The idea that these theories belong to the literary phenomenon termed “proto-elements of theatre” is shared by all three of these conceptual authors. This phenomenon seems to be especially interesting because, according to Jan Ciechowicz, it constitutes the basis of Karol Wojtyła’s “theatrical world-view,” and, according to Janusz Pasierb, it also forms the “methodological roots” of Wojtyła’s poetry and drama. The analyses of the phenomenon presented in this article cover the canonical texts of both authors: the letters and private writings of Osterwa, gathered in the tome Przez teatr – poza teatr (2004), as well as Wojtyła’s correspondence, journalistic writings concerning the theatre and his works dealing with the theory of theatre, published in Poezje i dramaty (2001), and recalled in the recent Dzieła literackie i teatralne (2019). The spoken word, understood as a “proto-element of theatre,” and, at the same time, as a working, living force, is – in my understanding – a basic tenet of Karol Wojtyła’s thinking about theatre.

Resumen
Karol Wojtyła’s decision to start Polish Philology at the Jagiellonian University after graduating from the State Marcin Wadowita Secondary School was no surprise to those who knew him in Wadowice. His theatrical interests and talents, mainly acting and directing, were widely known. He helped found a high school theatrical group, acted in the Amateur Universal Theatre run by Mieczysław Kotlarczyk, and on the stage of the Catholic House. His mentor in the field of the theatre was Mieczysław Kotlarczyk. As a secondary school student, Wojtyła had already started writing poetry, and possibly his Beskid Ballads had already been created. He wanted to become an actor, but also developed as a writer. Cracow, with its creative environment and student peers, supported his theatrical and literature endeavours. Besides his university studies, he also developed his acting skills in the Studio 39 theatre group. During the Nazi occupation of Poland, Studio 39 members continued their underground activities. After Mieczysław Kotlarczyk arrived in Cracow in 1941, the Studio was transformed into the Rhapsodic Theatre. Wojtyła participated in all 7 premiere performances. With his talent and acting capabilities, together with his deep theatrical knowledge, he was a rising hope for his underground companions in the field of acting. His skills were appreciated by such famous actors as Juliusz Osterwa. Osterwa, the chief Polish actor of those times, stated “We seem to have an extraordinary actor” after Juliusz Słowacki’s Król-Duch was performed with Wojtyła starring. He intended to employ Wojtyła after the war. However, the time to make definitive choices finally arrived and Karol Wojtyła entered the Higher Seminary for Priests in 1942. His rhapsodic experience and literary achievements were to be the measurement of his charismatic call to millions of followers and believers as the future Pope.

Resumen
The author of the article has recalled Stefan Żeromski’s comedy, its premiere at Juliusz Osterwa and Mieczysław Limanowski’s Reduta and, above all, the discussion which began in the Warsaw press in 1925 and has been continued to this day. The author has identified and discussed some basic threads: the genology of the work, and its theatricality and ideology. Almost all critics of the interwar period got involved in the beginnings of the discussion, regardless of their experience and political orientation. Readers and theatre critics (incidentally, the play Uciekła mi przepióreczka came in literary and theatrical circulation almost at the same time) perceived a call for a new patriotism in the work, which Przełęcki was supposed to spread in the liberated Homeland. The formal shape of the work, too, contributed to calling it a masterpiece, while the quick death of the author transformed the comedy almost in a literary testament.

Author found and gave to print unknown letters of Vilnius philosopher and scholar, Wincenty Lutosławski to Stefan Mierzwa, executive director of the Kosciuszko Foundation – the source kept in the Archives of the Kosciuszko Foundation in New York City. The letters reveal unknown facts from the life of Vilnius philosopher. Lutosławski appears to be a great admirer of Juliusz Osterwa and his The Reduta (Redoubt) Theatre, as well as a good advocate of his students. In the same time despite of being in late 60. Lutosławski had great plans and ambitions to arrive to the U.S. under auspices of the KF. What is more, the correspondence shows that Lutosławski, focused on promoting his own person and achievements, was not far of underestimating the authority even those scholars, who like Roman Dyboski, were generally favorable to him. The correspondence confirms therefore not the best opinion enjoyed by Polish philosopher in the world of science.

Resumen
Conceived as a symbolic gift to honor Teatr Reduta on the 100th anniversary of its inception and dedicated to the memory of recently passed theatre historian, Zbigniew Osinski, this extensive volume does more than commemorate and celebrate. It advances the studies of one of the most original and deeply influential undertakings in Polish theatre, which, despite securing its emblematic place in histry, deserves a closer analysis from the contemporary perspective, and further dissemination among scholars and practitioners. Reading the book from across the Atlantic Ocean, I will add, that this need for continued rethinking of theatre in dialogue with Osterwa and Limanowski in current Polish cultural and political context seems to be as important as challenging. On the one hand, religious and spiritual underpinnings of Reduta may be particularly susceptive to “committed” interpretations, to use Adorno’s term. On the other hand, memories bring the threat of nostalgia and sentimentalism which help to mythologize rather than analyze unique phenomena. Has Reducie na stulecie managed to stay free from these historiographic traps? What value do these history lessons bring to us today

Resumen
The article presents the history and principles of theatre education at Reduta in its successive forms: from Koło Adeptów [The Apprentice Circle], established in 1921, through the Reduta Institute, to Okop [The Trench], which was the last pre-war incarnation of the school. Based on documents and memoirs, the article discusses Reduta’s comprehensive and holistic model of education, in which regular theoretical classes were accompanied by practical and physical exercises. A crucial part of the education process was student participation in the theatre’s daily operations: rehearsals, preparation of stage productions, and tours. The aim of the school was to offer future artists comprehensive preparation for various theatre functions, as well as to produce ideologically engaged social activists, who consider serving the society through art as their primary task and mission. A comparison between Reduta’s schools and other educational initiatives confirms that in terms of scope, curriculum, work methods, practices, as well as atmosphere, the former were indeed pioneering and stood out from traditional pre-war drama teaching. Published as an appendix to the article is its source material: Juliusz Osterwa, Okop, edited and with an introduction by the author of the article. (Transl. Z. Ziemann)

Resumen
The article is a record of a seminar meeting devoted to the memory of professor Zbigniew Osiński, an outstanding theatrologist, first director of the Grotowski Institute in Wrocław, a scholar interested in the works of Juliusz Osterwa, Jerzy Grotowski, Gardzienice Theater and Tadeusz and Irena Byrski’s theatre; researcher of the Oriental theatre reception in Poland. The seminar was organized to commemorate the first death anniversary of the Professor whose scientific path began to take shape in Poznań where he worked until 1970. The record of the meeting reflects its course: in the first part, three short speeches were given: – Professor Dobrochna Ratajczakowa talks about the beginnings of Zbigniew Osiński’s career as a researcher, Professor Elżbieta Kalemba-Kasprzak – about the ‘practice of humanities’ in a specific Poznań way, and professor Ryszard K. Przybylski – about the famous article that used information theory tools written by Balcerzan and Osiński. The second part is devoted to the memories of and reflections on the artistic and scientific activity of Professor Osiński in Poznań. Among the guests of the seminar were Professor Edward Balcerzan, Lech Raczak, Piotr Frydryszek, Janina Karasińska – friends and co-workers of Professor Osiński.

Obraz samarskiego życia Osterwy uzupełniają prace rosyjskich historyków rekonstruujących losy polskich uchodźców podczas I wojny światowej. Zderzenie z obcością wyostrzyło świadomość kulturową i uruchomiło nową perspektywę widzenia. Bożonarodzeniowe przedstawienie pomogło lepiej zrozumieć społeczną funkcję teatru jako miejsca przezwyciężania kryzysu tożsamościowego.

Resumen
In this article Anna Porubcansky discusses the work of Song of the Goat Theatre not only in its artistic practice, but as a life practice. Based in Wrocław in Poland, the group continues a Polish tradition of experimental theatre practice as seen in the work of Juliusz Osterwa, Jerzy Grotowski, and Włodzimierz Staniewski. A fundamental influence on Song of the Goat has been the belief in Buddhism of its co-founders Grzegorz Bral and Anna Zubrzycki, which has shaped a performance practice rooted in the principles of interconnection and compassion. The group focuses its work on ‘coordination’, an approach that seeks to create a profound sense of harmony within and between each actor and every element of his or her work through training, improvising, and research on diverse songs, dances, myths, and rituals. Maintaining connection to the world through this material, Bral and Zubrzycki extend the group's artistic work through social projects such as the Brave Festival, which celebrates lost and dying cultural traditions in an attempt to create a performance practice that is actively integrated with the social world. Few academic publications are available on Song of the Goat, and this article draws on three years of extensive fieldwork with the company, utilizing interviews and personal observations of training, rehearsals, expeditions, and performance development for its most recent production, Macbeth. Anna Porubcansky is currently completing her PhD in the Department of Drama at Goldsmiths, University of London.

Resumen
Abstract This paper argues that unsettled people, far from being “marginal” individuals, played a key role in shaping early modern cities. It does so by going beyond the traditional binary between rooted and unstable people. Specifically, the paper takes the temporary places of residence of this “unsettled” population – notably inns (garnis in France, osterie in Italy) – as a vantage point to observe social change in early modern cities. The case studies are two cities which shared a growing and highly mobile population in the early modern period: Rome and Marseille. In the first section, the paper focuses on two semi-rural neighborhoods. This is to assess the impact of mobility in shaping demographic, urbanistic, and economic patterns in these areas. Moving from the neighborhood as a whole to the individual buildings which composed it, the second section outlines the biographies of two inns: Rome’s osteria d’Acquataccio and Marseille’s hôtel des Deux mondes. In turn, this is to evaluate changes and continuities over a longer period of time.

Resumen
Osterix, a zinc-finger-containing transcription factor, is required for osteoblast differentiation and bone formation. Osterix is also expressed in dental mesenchymal cells of the tooth germ. However, transcriptional regulation by Osterix in tooth development is not clear. Genetic studies in osteogenesis place Osterix downstream of Runx2 (Runt-related 2). The expression of Osterix in odontoblasts overlaps with Runx3 during terminal differentiation in vivo. Runx3 down-regulates Osterix expression in mouse DPCs (dental pulp cells). Therefore the regulatory role of Runx3 on Osterix expression in tooth development was investigated. Enforced expression of Runx3 down-regulated the activity of the Osterix promoter in the human embryonic kidney 293 cell line. When the Runx3 responsive element on the Osterix promoter, located at −713 to −707 bp (site 3, AGTGGTT) relative to the cap site, was mutated, this down-regulation was abrogated. Furthermore, electrophoretic mobility-shift assay and chromatin immunoprecipitation assays in mouse DPCs demonstrated direct functional binding of Runx3 to the Osterix promoter. These results demonstrate the transcriptional regulation of Osterix expression by Runx3 during differentiation of dental pulp cells into odontoblasts during tooth development.

Resumen
Osteoma is a benign osteogenic lesion with a very slow growth, characterized by proliferation of either cancellous or compact bone. Depending on its location, osteoma may be classified as central, peripheral, or extraskeletal type. Osteoma has been reported in relation to the paranasal sinuses and less frequently with the orbit. We report a case of a 25-year-old female who developed extraskeletal osteoma on her left upper eyelid, without involvement of the paranasal sinuses or orbit. Extraskeletal osteoma of the eyelid is an extremely rare variety. The mass was surgically removed and sent for histopathologic examination, which showed osteoma. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first case of extraskeletal osteoma of the eyelid reported in the English language literature.

Resumen
Background: Developmental disturbances of the paranasal sinuses are proposed as the cause of osteoma. We examined whether such disturbances may result in the frequent presence of anatomical variations of the paranasal sinuses in patients with osteoma. Methodology/principal: The study was performed retrospectively on 2,820 patients subjected to CT examination during 2005 - 2011. Demographic and CT characteristics of osteoma, and associated pathological findings were evaluated for 104 patients with diagnosed osteoma. The presence of anatomical variations was assessed for 51 osteoma patients with a complete medical history, and for 1,233 patients from a control group. Results: The prevalence of osteomas was found to be 3.69%, with male to female ratio 1.08:1. The frontal sinus was most commonly affected. The presence of anatomical variations was more frequent in patients with osteoma than in controls, with significant differences confirmed for the sphenomaxillary plate, infraorbital cell, and crista galli pneumatization. Conclusions: The paranasal sinus osteoma is associated with higher prevalence of anatomical variations. This can be explained either by the stronger influence of genetic and/or environmental factors on the development of the paranasal sinuses in patients with osteoma, or by their higher susceptibility to above mentioned factors.

Resumen
Abstract Osteoma and nasal polyposis are common benign conditions seen by ENT practitioner, however it is very rare that both of them present together. Osteoma is the most common neoplasm of the nose and paranasal sinuses. It is commonly asymptomatic, being an incidental finding 1% of plain sinus radiographs and 3% CT scans of sinus. In an extensive review of english literature, we could not find any case reported having large osteoma with bilateral nasal polyposis. We found only two reported cases of osseous metaplasia in cases of nasal polyps but not ivory osteoma hence bilateral nasal polyposis can radiologically have association with osteoma and should be investigated and treated accordingly. There has been a single case reported in the Spanish literature though. In current case report, we present a case of patient with bilateral nasal polyposis accompanied with unilateral frontoethmoid osteoma.

Resumen
Only seven cases of osteoma arising in the middle turbinate have been reported to date. We report the eighth case, involving osteoma in the middle turbinate of a child. This young boy was initially examined at the age of nine for the main complaint of nasal obstruction. Although a large osteoma with a maximum diameter of 30 mm was observed on computed tomography (CT), the patient was only observed because of the wishes of the family. At 13 years, he was again examined, as a result of worsening of the nasal obstruction. CT revealed that the osteoma had enlarged to a maximum diameter of 41 mm. Endoscopic surgery was attempted, but because of difficulties, the osteoma instead had to be removed under direct vision via a gingival incision. The final pathological diagnosis was osteoid osteoma. The nasal obstruction disappeared following surgery, with no recurrence after more than 12 months postoperatively.

Resumen
Pediatric benign osteocytic tumors include osteoma, enostosis, osteoid osteoma, and osteoblastoma. In pediatric populations, benign bone tumors are more common than malignancies. Benign osteocytic tumors may have a unique clinical presentation that helps narrow the differential diagnosis. A systemic imaging approach should be utilized to reach the diagnosis and guide clinicians in management. Radiographs are the most prevalent and cost-effective imaging modality. Cross-sectional imaging can be utilized for tissue characterization and for evaluation of lesions involving complex anatomical areas such as the pelvis and spine. Computed Tomography (CT) is the modality of choice for diagnosis of osteoid osteoma. CT scan can also be utilized to guide radiofrequency ablation, which has been found to be highly effective in treating osteoid osteoma and osteoblastoma. Enostosis is a no-touch lesion. Osteoma is commonly located in the paranasal sinuses. Osteoma needs an excision if it causes complications due to a mass effect.

Resumen
Aims: The relationship between the p38MAPK signaling pathway and osterix in osteogenic differentiation of BMMSCs subjected to intermittent stretching was investigated. Methods: BMMSCs derived from C57BL/6J mice were divided into the following groups: 1) control, 2) stretch, and 3) SB203580+stretch (SB203580 is a p38MAPK signal pathway inhibitor). BMMSCs were exposed to an intermittent mechanical strain of 0.8% (8000μ strain) at 0.5 Hz, twice a day for 30 min each application. BMMSCs were harvested on days 1, 3, and 5 post-treatment. The expression of ALP, COL I, OCN, and osterix mRNA was assessed utilizing RT-PCR while the expression of P-p38MAPK and osterix protein was assessed by Western blot analysis. The osterix gene in mouse BMMSCs was knocked down using RNAi technology and its protein expression was also assessed by Western blot. RT-PCR was used to detect ALP, COL I, and OCN mRNA expression. Results: Intermittent stretching was found to promote expression of ALP, COL I, OCN, and osterix mRNA. Silencing the osterix gene was found to reduce levels of ALP, COL I, and OCN mRNA. Western blot analysis demonstrated that the levels of osterix and P-p38MAPK proteins in the stretch group were significantly higher than in the control group (P<0.05). There was less expression of ALP, COL I, OCN, and osterix mRNA in the SB203580+stretch group than in the control and stretch groups. Conclusions: Data demonstrate that intermittent stretching promotes osteogenic differentiation of BMMSCs, and the p38MAPK-osterix pathway has an important role in the control of osteogenesis-related gene expression.

Introduction: Osteoma is a benign slow-growing osteogenic neoplasm characterized by the proliferation of cancellous and/or cortical bone. Jaw bones are seldom affected. Observation: We observed a rare case of a patient with a peripheral mandibular osteoma, which was surgically removed. Comments: Frequently asymptomatic, a peripheral osteoma looks like a bony swelling that may be sessile or pedunculated. Imaging examinations show a well-circumscribed radio-opaque mass. Symptomatic osteomas must be surgically excised and submitted for histological evaluation. Conclusion: Excessive osseous healing following a tooth extraction may explain this rare form of osteoma.

Resumen
Purpose: To evaluate the response to anti–vascular endothelial growth factor therapy for choroidal neovascularization secondary to choroidal osteoma using optical coherence tomography angiography. Methods: This retrospective study included four eyes of four females with choroidal osteoma complicated by choroidal neovascularization, treated with ranibizumab. All patients underwent full ophthalmologic examination, including ocular ultrasound, retinography, fluorescein angiography, spectral-domain or swept-source optical coherence tomography, and optical coherence tomography angiography. These images were analyzed to measure choroidal osteoma and to study choroidal neovascularization changes after intravitreal anti–vascular endothelial growth factor. Results: In all cases, fluorescein angiography revealed the presence the choroidal neovascularization, as an early hyperfluorescence area increasing during the exam. Optical coherence tomography showed both the choroidal osteoma and choroidal neovascularization and intra- or subretinal fluid as activity sign. In optical coherence tomography angiography, choroidal osteoma vessels were valuable in outer retina and choroidal slabs, and were irregular and did not change after ranibizumab injection; neovascular network correlating with choroidal neovascularization showed a hyperflow tangled vessels in outer retina, decreasing in density after anti–vascular endothelial growth factor therapy. Conclusion: Optical coherence tomography angiography seems to be a useful tool in visualizing and distinguishing vascular networks of choroidal osteoma and of choroidal neovascularization secondary to choroidal osteoma better than fluorescein angiography.

Introduction.Osteoma is a benign, slowly growing, asymptomatic, osteogenic neoplasm. Osteoma of a bone other than the skull and facial bones is extremely rare. An extremely rare case of parosteal osteoma is reported.Case Presentation.A 51-year-old woman presented with a large mass in the left supraclavicular fossa. Radiographs and computed tomography revealed a well-defined, 9 × 6 cm, lobed mass in the midportion of the clavicle. Magnetic resonance imaging revealed that it had the same density as cortical bone. An open biopsy was performed to rule out malignant bone tumours, and parosteal osteoma was diagnosed. Four years after the biopsy, the patient was asymptomatic.Conclusion.A rare case of parosteal osteoma of the clavicle was described. Open biopsy is required to rule out a malignant bone tumour, even if parosteal osteoma is suspected based on the clinical course and imaging findings.

Resumen
ABSTRACT Osteoma is rare benign tumors of bone commonly seen in the maxillofacial skeleton. Peripheral osteoma is more frequent in the mandible than the maxilla. The present article is a case report of peripheral osteoma at angle of mandible below the masseter muscle. Though the lesion is benign, the reduced mouth opening caused a lot of inconvenience to the patient. The patient's primary complaint was trismus and swelling at angle of mandible. The computed tomography (CT) scan was diagnostic of calcification at the angle. The differential diagnosis includes osteoma and calcification in masseter muscle. The lesion was excised through Risdon's incision. The surgical dissection of muscle fibers revealed the attachment of the bony lesion on the outer cortex of angle. The histopathological diagnosis confirmed the diagnosis of osteoma. The location of lesion below the masseter muscle resulted in lot of inconvenience of reduced mouth opening and diagnostic difficulty. The excision was followed by physiotherapy to increase the mouth opening. How to cite this article Manekar VS, Dewalwar V. Solitary Peripheral Osteoma of the Mandible presented as Trismus. Resumen
Osteoma cutis, also called multiple miliary osteoma cutis is a rarely described dermatosis, and in cases that are not associated with Albright’s hereditary osteodystrophy, osteoma cutis is being defined as a skin type of hamartoma, with mesenchymal cell differentiation in bone tissue. Levels of biochemical parameters (such as serum calcium, alkaline phosphatase and parathormones) are usually within the reference range when dermal osteomas are found. When osteoma cutis formations are X-ray detected (as it often happens when a computer tomography for dental purposes is performed) they manifest as small nodules in the skin with bone density ranging from 1 to 3mm. The very few presence in literature of osteoma cutis cases is due to the fact that the condition is usually asymptomatic and/or its scarce expression is misdiagnosed as milia, fatty hyperplasia or fatty cysts. Reported in this paper are 14 (fourteen) cases of osteoma cutis. It is discussed their occurrence is due to chronic inflammatory processes (acne), and/or pathogenic behavior of skin injuring (patomimia) that unlock suppressed genes (paleo genes) to protect the skin, that are similar to the bone tiles (osteoderms) present in many vertebrates.

Resumen
✓ The authors present a rare case of a giant intracranial mucocele associated with an orbitoethmoidal osteoma in a patient suffering from a generalized convulsive disorder. The broad pedicle of the osteoma had penetrated the cribriform plate and extended intracranially to form a nodular mass in the olfactory groove. The intracranial portion of the osteoma was surrounded by a mucocele. Both the cyst wall and multilayered intracystic septations of the mucocele were indented by layers of the osteoma. Although the extracranial portion adhered to the mucosa of the ethmoidal sinus, there were no signs of sinus obstruction. No direct communication other than the osteoma was identified between the mucocele and the ethmoidal mucosa. The large cerebral defect, which the mucocele occupied, communicated directly with the lateral ventricle without any intervening membranous structures. A frontal craniotomy is recommended for exposure of the lesion and plastic repair of the dural defect.

Resumen
Osteoid osteoma is a benign tumor originating from osteoblasts, and it is mostly seen in long bones of lower limbs. The distal phalanx of the foot is an atypical location for an osteoid osteoma, and lesions occurring in this location may be a diagnostic challenge. A 22-year-old man presented with a complaint of severe pain on the second distal phalanx of his right foot. An osteoid osteoma was suspected after radiologic evaluation. The lesion was surgically excised and removed completely by curettage. Histopathologic evaluation confirmed the diagnosis of an osteoid osteoma. The patient was followed-up for a 9-month period without any symptoms or recurrence.

Purpose: Choroidal osteoma, which typically affects young women, is a benign intraocular tumor composed of mature bone within the choroid. Tumor decalcification and subfoveal choroidal neovascularization often lead to poor visual acuity although the etiology is unknown. Choriocapillaris characteristics in choroidal osteoma also are unknown. Methods: We report 4 cases of choroidal osteoma with decalcification in which the choriocapillaris could be imaged by optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA). Results: OCTA showed that the choriocapillaris structure was maintained in the calcified portion, whereas a loss occurred in parts of the decalcified portion in all cases. Conclusions: OCTA may be useful for understanding the pathological states of choroidal osteoma.

Chronic myeloid leukemia is a hematological malignancy resulting from a clonal proliferation of hematopoietic stem cells of the myeloid series. It is developed by chromosomal translocation. Chronic Myeloid Leukemia (CML) usually occurs in adults and is rare in children. Osteoid osteoma is a benign bone lesion with no malignant potential. The association of chronic myeloid leukemia with osteoid osteoma is not reported in the literature. An atypical presentation of osteoid osteoma may complicate the diagnosis when associated with a primary malignancy. In this report, we have discussed a case of atypical presentation of osteoid osteoma suspected to be a lytic bone lesion in CML.

Background: Osteoid osteoma is a benign bone tumor; diagnosed using x-ray and Computer Tomography (CT). It shows a nidus and cortical thickening. When the nidus is not well visualised especially in uncommon locations; Bone Scan (BS) can be performed for evaluation of osteoid osteoma. Methods: A retrospective observational study was done where 21 subjects presenting with suspicion of osteoid osteoma underwent BS using 10-20mCi (370 to 740MBq) of Technetium-99m Pertechnetate with perfusion, delayed cortical and Single Photon Emission Tomography/Computer Tomography (SPECT/CT). Increased perfusion and delayed focal cortical uptake was assessed on BS to locate osteoid osteoma. Response evaluation to Radiofrequency ablation (RFA) was also performed using BS.Results: Osteoid osteoma was detected in femur (8), spine (3), forearm bones (2), humerus (2), tibia (2), fibula in one and iliac bone in one patient using BS. BS detected more lesions (18) than CT scan where nidus as confirmatory sign was seen in 13 lesions. The McNemar test showed no significant difference (p=0.22) in the detection of osteoid osteoma using CT and BS in common location of femur. However there was significant difference noted between BS and CT in uncommon site (p=0.023). 3/8 patients showed persistent increased cortical activity after RFA ablation on BS.Conclusions: BS was more useful for confirmation of diagnosis of Osteoid osteoma for lesions in uncommon sites. BS also helped to assess response to RFA ablation therapy. SPECT/CT improved interpretation of BS to locate the osteoid osteoma.

Resumen
Background: Choroidal osteoma is a rare, benign, ossifying intraocular tumor of unknown etiology. While patients with choroidal osteoma usually show distinct large yellowish subretinal lesions, some could have small lesions, making the differential diagnosis difficult. We experienced 2 cases of small symptomatic unilateral osteoma approximately 1.0-mm disc diameter in size. Methods: Retrospective medical charts of 2 patients with small symptomatic unilateral osteoma were reviewed. Fundus examination, spectral domain enhanced-depth optical coherence tomography (EDI-OCT), fluorescein angiography, indocyanine green angiography, B-scan ultrasonography (USG), and X-ray computed tomography (CT) were performed. Results: Case 1: a case of a 41-year-old male. Fundus examination revealed a yellowish-white lesion of 1.0-mm disc diameter in size. EDI-OCT of the lesion shows sub-RPE elevation. B-scan USG was not definite for diagnosis. Thin-slice (2 mm) CT scan revealed a choroidal osteoma. Case 2: a case of a 70-year-old male. Fundus examination revealed a yellowish-white lesion of 0.9-mm disc diameter. EDI-OCT showed sub-RPE elevation without serous retinal detachment and horizontal lamellar-like structure within the lesion. B-scan USG suggested acoustic shadowing, but it was unclear. The thin-slice CT scan confirmed bony tissue at the lesion. Conclusions: We report 2 cases of small choroidal osteoma. Diagnosis of small yellowish subretinal lesions is sometimes difficult. Characteristic findings with EDI-OCT may sometimes suggest this disease, and thin-slice CT could help to diagnose choroidal osteoma.

Resumen
Intra-articular calcaneal osteoid osteoma is a very rare condition and the diagnosis as well as the treatment is extremely challenging. We report a case of a 19-year-old male with intra-articular osteoid osteoma of the calcaneus, initially treated for peroneal tenosynovitis with unsatisfactory results. Thorough diagnostic procedure revealed the superolateral location of a calcaneal osteoid osteoma, near the sinus tarsi. A cherry-red elevated lesion typical of an osteoid osteoma nidus was completely removed arthroscopically using the anterolateral portal and the middle portal for subtalar arthroscopy. Histopathology confirmed the suspected diagnosis. The postoperative clinical course was uneventful with immediate pain relief and full weightbearing and movement allowed soon. The patient had no recurrent pain and normal joint mobility 8 months postoperatively. Considering the accessibility of the lesion, intra-articular osteoid osteoma of the calcaneus can be successfully treated arthroscopically using lateral approach for subtalar arthroscopy. Resumen
Periosteal osteoid osteoma is extremely rare. The diagnosis is not always clear. We report a case of periosteal osteoid osteoma arising from the posterior surface of the right distal femur in a 21-year-old woman. After careful evaluation and excisional biopsy, histological examination confirmed the diagnosis of osteoid osteoma, showing the nidus, surrounding osteosclerosis, and catarrhal synovitis. The lesion was treated successfully with excision of the nidus.
