Resumen
Sour oranges (Citrus aurantium L.) are well known in the processing and cosmetics industries for the aromatic properties of their essential oils. Intercultivar genetic and aromatic diversity is not well documented. The objective of this study was to evaluate the impact of morphological selection and genetic mechanisms of varietal diversification (mutation or hybridization) on the aromatic and odor variability of sour orange essential oils. Forty-five sour orange accessions from INRAE-CIRAD citrus Biological Resources Center (France) were assessed for ten simple sequence repeat (SSR) and 54 single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) markers, nine morphochemical fruit traits and with the aromatic components of leaf and peel essential oils. Thirty-nine sour oranges displayed no intercultivar molecular polymorphism and six genotypes originated from interspecific hybridizations involving sour orange, citron, pummelo or mandarin. The peel essential oil (PEO) diversity was low, in accordance with the genetic diversity. The predominance of limonene (>90%) prevents any possible correlation to be made between the composition and the variation in sensory profiles detected by panelists. Few compounds in the leaf essential oil (LEO), such as linalool, linalyl acetate, α-terpineol and geraniol were significantly different across sour oranges varieties. The morphological fruit attributes mainly used in varietal selection differed highly across the main genetically identical group of sour orange accessions. These results confirm that mutation can generate variability in aromatic compounds and aromas and that their exploitation requires an improvement in characterization processes.

Resumen
Since the late 1970s several epidemiological studies have appeared linking exposure to phenoxy herbicides or chlorophenols to some malignant tumors. Most of these compounds are contaminated with dioxins and dibenzofurans; for example, 2,3,7,8-tetrachlorodibenzo- p-dioxin (TCDD) is a contaminant of 2,4,5-trichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4,5-T), a component of Agent Orange which was sprayed in Vietnam during the war. The results of some of the epidemiological studies on cancer risks associated with exposure to these compounds have been manipulated and misinterpreted, particularly by the Australian Royal Commission on the Use and Effects of Chemical Agents on Australian Personnel in Vietnam. Furthermore, a book on Australian war history entitled Medicine at War, commissioned by the Federal Government, reiterates several of these misinterpretations, despite available contrary evaluations from Australian and U.S. authorities. These remarkable and confusing circumstances in the scientific process are considered also in the light of the recent classification of TCDD as carcinogenic to humans, Group 1, by a Working Group at the International Agency for Research on Cancer in Lyon, France.

Resumen
Yellow starthistle (Centaurea solstitialis) is an annual invasive weed in the United States with Mediterranean origins. The expense of chemical control and the vast area of invasion make this weed an appropriate target for classical biological control. Observations of a field site in southern France revealed small orange galls on the leaves of yellow starthistle seedlings caused by the fungus Synchytrium solstitiale. Inoculation of yellow starthistle seedlings with a suspension of zoospores released from infected tissue resulted in infection. Ten days after inoculation, typical orange galls appeared on the exposed tissue. Preliminary host range testing showed up to 100% infection of C. solstitialis seedlings from both France and the United States and infection of Carthamus tinctorius, Centaurea americana, C. diffusa, C. rothrockii, C. squarrosa, and Helianthus annuus seedlings. No symptoms were observed on seedlings of Centaurea calcitrapa, C. maculosa, C. sulfurea, Cirsium californica, C. occidentale, Cynera cardunculus, and Taraxacum officinale. Zoospores were released in a pH range between 4.45 and 8.25 and optimally at temperatures between 5 and 15°C. Infection of yellow starthistle seedlings occurred after a minimum 1-h exposure to a zoospore suspension at 20°C.

Resumen
«Orange Alternative program texts and French surrealism manifestos » are a contribution to a detailed analysis of the Orange Alternative program texts in terms of surreal inspirations, many of which can be found not only in the Manifesto of Surrealist Socialism, but in Waldemar Fydrych’s books: Hokus pokus, or the Orange Alternative, written together with with Bogdan Dobosz in 1989. Żywoty Mężów Orangeowych- 2001, Krasnoludki i gamonie- 2006, Major- 2013. The author analyzes various levels of relations between the most important assumptions of the French surrealism contained in the manifestos and the program texts and literary works of Waldemar «Major» Fydrych, taking into account his ties with France. He mentions selected contexts of the activity of the New Culture Movement and the Orange Alternative, referring to the meaning of the characters, ideas and program content. He does not forget about the role of manifestos in the history of the European avant-garde (including the Manifesto of the Communist Party, but futuristic and Dadaist) and the universal dimension of the high-profi le slogans of surrealism, both in Europe and in Poland. He evokes the notion of «socio-political surrealism» and its universal dimension, as well as situates the actions of the Orange Alternative between Solidarity and the authorities of the time.

Resumen
The South African War, also known as the Anglo-Boer War of 1899-1902, was one of the most important armed conflicts of the age of imperialism. The war evoked an immense public response in Russia; not even the power circles remained unmoved. Russian public opinion supported the struggle for the independence of the Boer republics, the Transvaal and the Orange Free State. For their part, the governments of the two republics convinced their fellow citizens that the Russian Empire, as the initiator of the Hague Peace Conference and the only great power that never had colonies in Africa, would be able to unite other states of Europe and the United States to help the Boers in countering British imperialism. By June 1900, it had become clear that the Great Powers would not take military action in defence of the South African republics. Moreover, they were unable to overlook their geopolitical differences in order to offer collective mediation or good offices to the belligerents. On behalf of the official Boer delegation, who was visiting the United States, the Transvaal envoy conveyed to the foreign offices of Russia and its ally France a request for a joint protectorate over the Transvaal and the Orange Free State. Documentary evidence of this demarche, which has not yet received sufficient coverage in historiography, has been preserved in the archive of the Transvaal envoy Leyds, as well as in the Archive of Foreign Policy of the Russian Empire. Appealing to Russia and France, the Boer delegates assumed that these powers, for humanitarian reasons, would provide friendly guardianship to the two republics in South Africa. However, the European governments of the period understood protectorate as a form of colonial dependence. Besides, Russia and France did not want a military confrontation with the mighty British Empire for the sake of the Boer states that were outside the sphere of their political and colonial interests. The attempt of the representatives of the Transvaal and the Orange Free State to secure a Russo-French protectorate for their republics was predestined to fail.

Resumen
The warming observed over the past summers since 2000 is unprecedented in climate records in Europe and especially in France. Extreme temperatures and heat spells were often analyzed in the literature by applying extreme value theory but rarely in a non-stationary (NS) framework and duration modeling is often excluded. For a modern risk-based approach, it is important to have knowledge of the duration, magnitude, and frequency of occurrence of heat spells in a climate variability and change context. Yet, despite their obvious importance, teleconnections and associated climate indices (CIs) have often been excluded from heat spell modelling. The notion of duration is also not easily interpretable in a frequency analysis and can even be subtle, especially in a NS context. In this study, we used time-varying statistical distributions with parameters conditional on covariates representing the time and CIs. The daily maximum temperatures (DMTs) observed at the Orange and Dijon stations in France were used as a case study. This paper highlights a possible relationship between some large-scale climate patterns and the heat spells in France. Overall, the results suggest that considering the combined effect of global warming and these patterns in NS models is useful for a more appropriate characterization of the hazard heat spells in France.

Resumen
Stem rust disease, caused by Cronartium flaccidum (Alb. & Schwein.) G. Winter, is among the most destructive diseases of the two-needle hard pine in the Northern Hemisphere, including Scots pine but also several Mediterranean pines in southern Europe (2,3). This heteroecious rust has numerous alternate herbaceous hosts spanning different plant families, thereby contributing to epidemic outbreaks when environmental conditions for infection are optimal (2,3). The main alternate host in Europe is the white swallow-wort, Vincetoxicum hirundinaria Medik, a herbaceous perennial in the milkweed family (Asclepiadaceae). At the southwestern edge of its distribution, V. hirundinaria co-occurs with the black swallow-wort, V. nigrum (L.) Moench and cases of misidentification between the two species are not uncommon. Little to no disease occurs to V. nigrum likely because phenanthroindolizidine alkaloid antimicrobial compounds are produced in the weed. In 1918, occurrence of C. flaccidum was reported in Spain and Portugal on black and white swallow-worts albeit as C. asclepadium (1). In the early summer of 2011, at Saint Clément de Rivière in southern France, we detected orange-yellow rust pustules on the lower leaf surfaces of several black swallow-worts growing near Aleppo pines (Pinus halepensis). These orange-yellow pustules were erumpent uredinia in groups (range = 137 to 400 μm in diameter) with peridia that broke with the production of uredinospores. The latter were moderately echinulate, light yellow, broadly ellipsoid (length = 23 ± 4 μm and range = 11 to 33 μm; width = 15 ± 2 μm and range = 9 to 20 μm) with walls of 1 to 2 μm thick (mean 1.3 ± 0.2 μm). Hair-like columnar telia (length = 1123 ± 131 μm and range = 976 to 1280 μm; width = 136 ± 28 μm and range = 104 to 176 μm) were mostly formed from uredinia. Telia were hypophyllous and reddish orange. Teliospores were orange-yellow and ellipsoidal to cylindrical (length 26.3 ± 6.2 μm and range 13.5 to 46 μm; width = 10.5 ± 1.8 μm and range = 6.9 to 14.9 μm). Morphological features of these fruiting structures were consistent with those of C. flaccidum (Alb. & Schwein.) G. Winter on white swallow-worts (2). Additional confirmation was provided by sequencing the two internal transcribed spacer regions (ITS1 and ITS2) and the 5.8S gene (4). The sequence was 843 bp long (GenBank Accession No. JN802139), 99.7% similar to C. flaccidum found on Melampyrum in Finland (Accession No. JF13709), and 99.4% similar to C. flaccidum found on pines in Italy (Accession No. X83900). Voucher material has been deposited at the Herbarium of Montpellier's University under the collection Accession No. MPUØ188846. To our knowledge, this is the first report of the occurrence of uredinia and telia of C. flaccidum on black swallow-worts clearly identified in France. The occurrence of the rust on this understory vine is of critical importance for the economic sustainability of pine forests in France, especially when they are heavily constrained by drought and fire. Resumen
Abstract The magnetic parameters of sedimentary rocks can record accurately tectonic and climatic influences upon sedimentary processes, when they are not altered during diagenesis. This paper is focused on the possible alteration of the primary magnetic-susceptibility signal during early diagenesis of marine organic matter (OM). In the late Kimmeridgian-Tithonian Argiles de Châtillon Formation (Fm.) of the Boulonnais area (northern France – lateral time equivalent of the distal organic-rich sediments of the Kimmeridge Clay Fm. of Dorset), the organic content is dominated by amorphous OM (AOM), either brown or orange, originating from selective preservation or sulphurisation, respectively. Total sulphur content correlates well with orange + brown AOM abundance, and organic S content correlates well with orange AOM abundance. The magnetic signal of these claystones and paper shales is dominantly carried by clay minerals. The magnetic susceptibility vs. brown-AOM abundance relationship shows a clear correlation. Furthermore, if the part of the magnetic-susceptibility signal linked to the lithoclastic fraction of the sediments is removed from the total signal, a positive correlation is also drawn between the brown-AOM abundance and the ‘excess’ magnetic susceptibility. The cause for this resides in the iron-sulphide abundance. The presence of both types of AOM implies that intense sulphate reduction took place and that the HS−/H2S released reacted with either organic molecules (orange AOM dominating the palynofacies) or reactive iron (brown AOM dominating). When reactive iron was abundant enough and when sulphate reduction-induced sulphide ions could react with it, iron sulphides could form and this sediment component (present now as pyrite) influences the magnetic-susceptibility signal. The type of dominating source organisms (phytoplankton) may condition the reactivity of OM towards sulphide ions. This may influence iron-sulphide formation, and in turn the sediment magnetic signal.

Resumen
Nanocomposites based on titanium dioxide doped with gold in concentrations of 0.2 and 0.8 wt.% were obtained by the sol-gel method using titanium tetraisopropoxide and chlorauric acid. Thermal treatment of precipitates at T = 600 °C led to the formation of highly dispersed anatase powders and increasing the temperature to 1000-1200 °C contributed to the formation of well-crystallized rutile particles. The gold in the structure of the powders is heterogeneously distributed. The size of the primary particles of anatase did not exceed 10 nm, and that of rutile reached 35-46 nm, gradually increasing with increasing processing temperature. The photocatalytic properties of TiO2&Au structures were studied during the decolorization of solutions of organic dyes (Methylene Blue, Rhodamine B, Methyl Orange, Orange G) with a concentration of 20 mg/dm3. The resulting structures did not show significant sorption activity, and visible light caused a slight desorption of the dyes. At the same time, under the influence of UV irradiation for 60 minutes, the decolorization process took place effectively and was subject to a pseudo-first-order reaction. The biggest photocatalytic activity was shown by the sample of anatase with a gold content of 0.8 wt.%. When it was added into the solution, the degree of decolorization of Rhodamine B reached up to 50%, Methyl Orange - up to 81.5%, Methylene Blue - up to 91%, and Orange G - up to 95.2%. Increasing the efficiency of the destruction of dyes can be achieved by supplementing the photo-catalytic process with a catalytic one. Resumen
Workplace suicides are sharply on the rise and reflect a generalised deterioration in working conditions across the globalised economy. Despite their growing prevalence, workplace suicides are subject to specific modes of repression that tend to keep them hidden from public view. Suicides and their social recognition threaten the vested interests of corporate and political elites by giving material embodiment to relations of production in the form of extreme human suffering. This article focuses on 'suicide waves' at two distant corporations in the information and communications sector: in France, the telecoms provider, France Télécom (rebranded Orange in 2013) and in China, electronics supplier, Foxconn. Drawing on Stanley Cohen's notion of 'states of denial', the article examines the tactics used by corporate and political elites in an effort to keep the suicides concealed. These include discourses that denied the suicides, individualised their causes and repressive tactics intended to control information and impede investigations. Recognising workplace suicides and the forms of repression that seek to occlude them, is crucial if we are to confront the profound human costs of a new international division of digital labour on lived experiences of work.

Resumen
ABSTRACTRecent scholarly debate about the Glorious Revolution has put renewed focus on the fear of a new aggressive Catholic confessionalism that was widespread among English and European Protestants. One important example is the threat of an imminent French-led joint Catholic aggression against the Netherlands and other Protestant states. This fear was shared by William of Orange and contributed to his decision to risk invading England in the autumn of 1688. Thanks to new archival sources, it is clear that Emperor Leopold contributed substantially to increasing this fear. In July 1688, the imperial government informed William of Orange about unprecedented French offers to Leopold to win over the emperor for a new Catholic alliance. Almost certainly these offers were fictitious, but nevertheless they had an alarming effect on William: he was convinced that an autonomous, ‘uncontrolled’ development in England (regardless of whether it would lead to a ‘popish’ despotism or to a Protestant republic) would only benefit France and should be avoided in this decisive situation. Consequently, after July 1688 William and his diplomats repeatedly referred to the supposed ‘indiscretions’ from Vienna to demonstrate the necessity of intervening in England.

Resumen
AbstractOmsite (IMA 2012-025) is a new mineral from the Correc d'en Llinassos, Oms, Pyrénées-Orientales Department, France. It occurs as bright yellow to amber yellow discoidal tablets, flattened on {001}, which form rosettes typically 50–100 μm in diameter. Omsite generally crystallizes on siderite without associated supergene minerals; it occurs less commonly with glaukosphaerite. Crystals have a vitreous to resinous lustre, and are transparent to translucent. Omsite is not fluorescent in either short-wave or long-wave ultraviolet light. It has an estimated hardness of 3 on the Mohs' scale, is brittle with an irregular fracture, and has one poor cleavage on {001}. The calculated density is 3.378 g cm–3. Crystals are uniaxial (–), with indices of refraction of ω = 1.728(3) and ε = 1.66(1), measured in white light. Pleochroism is ω = orange-yellow, ε = pale orange-yellow; ω > ε. The empirical formula [based on 12 (OH + Cl) p.f.u.] is (Ni1.0992+Cu0.6652+Mg0.107Fe0.0453+)Σ 1.916Fe1.0003+(Sb0.9475+As0.072Na0.029)Σ1.048OH11.967Cl0.033. Omsite crystallizes in space group P, with unit-cell parameters a = 5.3506(8), c = 19.5802(15) Å, V = 485.46(10) Å3 and Z = 2 determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction. The five strongest lines in the X-ray powder diffraction pattern [d in Å, (Irel), (hkl)] are as follows: 4.901, (100), (004); 4.575, (83), (011); 2.3539, (81), (11); 1.8079, (48), (11); 3.781, (34), (103). The crystal structure was solved to R1 = 0.0896 for 356 observed reflections [Fo>4σFo] and 0.1018 for all the 469 unique reflections. Omsite is a layered double hydroxide (LDH) mineral, with a topology consistent with members of the hydrotalcite supergroup and cualstibite group.

Resumen
ABSTRACTWhile Restoration historians have traditionally assumed that there was little public interest in foreign affairs, and that English attitudes towards Europe were determined either by religious or domestic concerns, this essay argues that there was a lively and sophisticated English debate about Europe which turned on the proper identification of the universal monarch rather than religion. In the later 1660s the English political nation was deeply divided in its understanding of European politics. Enthusiastic supporters of the restored monarchy thought that the republican United Provinces sought universal dominion, while the monarchy's radical critics identified absolutist France as an aspirant to universal monarchy. French success in the early phases of the third Anglo-Dutch war, the failure of the French navy to support the English fleet at sea, and the overthrow of the Dutch republican regime in favour of William III, Prince of Orange, convinced the vast majority of the English that France represented the greater threat. Ultimately popular pressure compelled Charles II to abandon the French alliance. In addition, the popular conviction that Louis XIV had succeeded in corrupting the English court resulted in a new-found desire for popular accountability in foreign affairs, and a consequent diminution of the royal prerogative in that sphere.

Resumen
Michel Vinaver is a French playwright, born in 1927, who was exiled to the USA during the German occupation, and began to write in the 1950s – alongside a business career until 1982, when he became Professor of Drama Studies in the University of Paris. His complete plays have recently been published in two volumes by Actes Sud, and are widely-produced in France – but in the following article he claims that his few British productions, at the Orange Tree in Richmond and the Traverse in Edinburgh, have often been closer to his textual intentions. This is one of the problems he examines in the following wide-ranging article on the successes and limitations of the French post-war policy of theatrical Decentralization. Against the benefits of financial security and non-metropolitan bias, he weighs the failures to reflect regional cultures, and the cult of the director, with its continuous pressures to be ‘different’ in the interests of promotion and critical prestige. This paper was first presented at a conference at Birmingham University in April 1990. Readers with access to copies of the original Theatre Quarterly may also find it useful to refer to the special issue on People's Theatre in France, TQ23 (1976).

Resumen
AbstractOn 2 June 2009, the Nîmes administrative court condemned the Hospital of Orange (France) for unreasonable obstinacy after neonatal resuscitation. On 14 December 2002, an apparently stillborn child was resuscitated after approximately 30 minutes of foetal distress. Cardiac activity was recovered, but the child has since suffered from severe disabilities. The court did not find any fault committed by the hospital regarding maternal care. However, the hospital was sentenced to compensate for the injuries caused by unreasonable obstinacy. According to the court, the medical team should have taken into account the harmful neurological consequences of prolonged foetal distress. The court did not condemn the act of resuscitation itself, but its excessive length. This court ruling serves as a basis for reflection regarding the limits by which unreasonable obstinacy should be set.

The tourism industry is the main industry in the Balinese economy. Therefore, tourist visits data is interesting to analyze. The data to be analyzed are data on the level of foreign tourist arrivals, GDP per capita, exchange rates against the Rupiah, and the total population of the Australia, the United States, Japan, Malaysia and France. The time range used is 2014 to 2020. The data mining method can be used to objectively find patterns from the data. Orange Data Mining software is used in this study because it is based on a GUI that makes it easy for users. The methods used are decision trees, linear regression, and K-Means. The results show that a country with a larger GDP per capita has a higher influence on increasing tourism visits to Bali.

ABSTRACT Five Listeria monocytogenes isolates (CLIP 21369, CLIP 73298, CLIP 74811, CLIP 75679, and CLIP 79372) were found to be resistant to fluoroquinolones during the screening for antibiotic resistance of 488 L. monocytogenes isolates from human cases of listeriosis in France. On the basis of a fourfold or greater decrease in the ciprofloxacin MIC in the presence of reserpine, fluoroquinolone resistance was attributed to active efflux of the drugs. The lde gene (Listeria drug efflux; formerly lmo2741) encodes a 12-transmembrane-segment putative efflux pump belonging to the major facilitator superfamily of secondary transporters that displayed 44% identity with PmrA from Streptococcus pneumoniae. Insertional inactivation of the lde gene in CLIP 21369 indicated that the corresponding protein was responsible for fluoroquinolone resistance and was involved in the level of susceptibility to dyes such as ethidium bromide and acridine orange.

Resumen
The Jacobite Court was established at Saint-Germain-en-Laye at the beginning of 1689, following the successful invasion of England by William of Orange. At the time few people expected the Court to remain there for long, but after James II’s defeat in Ireland (1690), and the failure of his planned invasion of England (1692), it became clear that there was little hope of an immediate restoration. In the event the Stuarts were to remain at Saint-Germain-en-Laye for a quarter of a century. James II himself died there in 1701. His son James III stayed until 1712, when he was obliged to leave France by the terms of the Treaty of Utrecht (1713). The Queen, Mary of Modena, continued to live at Saint-Germain, and presided over the Court, until her death there in May 1718.

Resumen
This study begins with striking the geopolitical balance in Europe of the French Indochinese war within the framework of the Cold War. On one side, France needs an independent expeditionary force to remain a World power during the 1950's. On the other side, ECD or NATO require to keep important French field forces on the European soil, since the EDC Agreements and then the London Agreements assign 12 divisions to West Germany. Therefore, each theatre of operations is ambiguous and source of misunderstandings with the Atlantic allies of France, especially United States and Great Britain. On one end, the Indochinese conflict is as much a colonial struggle (inconsistent with American liberalism), as a primary Cold War issue in which however the United States subsidize the French overseas forces ($ 1,1 billion for 1953-1954). In Europe, the main threat remains of course the USSR whereas the French skeptical opinion still watches over Germany with anxiety. That explains the basic indecision of the legislative branch (Assemblée nationale ), and of the shaky governments of the IVth Republic. Just after Diên Biên Phu (Laniel Government), the Mendès France Government fails to obtain the ratification of ECD. It means very difficult relations between France and the other members of NATO about the French taking part in the common effort. The financial strain on French budget (because of Vietnam), chronic inflation, and now the Algerian crisis (11/1/1954) imperil the national outlay on armaments. Moreover, Algeria absorbs at least the two thirds of the home army with its NATO equipment, also subsidized by the United States (1952-1955). This material deficit and strategical breach in the integrated Atlantic command provoke growing tensions. We will analyze the reactions of the French high command, and its attempts to define a military disposition in harmony with the overseas needs, the heavy budget deficits and the NATO requirements. We will especially concentrate on the chaotic fate of the Yellow Plan (1954-1955) and of the Orange Plan (1956-1958), proposed by the general staff and the French Minister of Defence in order to reorganize the land forces.

Resumen
AbstractHoney is one of the food commodities most frequently affected by fraud. Although addition of extraneous sugars is the most common type of fraud, analytical methods are also needed to detect origin masking and misdescription of botanical variety. In this work, multivariate analysis of the content of certain macro- and trace elements, determined by energy-dispersive X-ray fluorescence (ED-XRF) without any type of sample treatment, were used to classify honeys according to botanical variety and geographical origin. Principal component analysis (PCA) and partial least squares-discriminant analysis (PLS-DA) were used to create classification models for nine different botanical varieties—orange, robinia, lavender, rosemary, thyme, lime, chestnut, eucalyptus and manuka—and seven different geographical origins—Italy, Romania, Spain, Portugal, France, Hungary and New Zealand. Although characterised by 100% sensitivity, PCA models lacked specificity. The PLS-DA models constructed for specific combinations of botanical variety-country (BV-C) allowed the successful classification of honey samples, which was verified by external validation samples.

The glass system (50–x)B2O3–30Bi2O3–20TeO2–xEu2O3 (x = 0, 0.1, 0.5, 1.0, 1.5, and 2.0 mol%) having been prepared using the conventional melt quenching method, is investigated in terms of physical, optical, and luminescence properties. The density of these glasses is measured and the corresponding molar volume is also calculated. The (αhν)1/n versus hν graph was plotted and it is well fitted to both direct (n = 1/2) and indirect (n = 2) band gaps. The direct and indirect band gap values range from 2.57 to 2.94 eV and 1.74 to 2.58 eV, respectively. The Urbach energy of the glass system was calculated to have values ranging from 0.29 to 0.62 eV. Yellow, orange, and red emissions have been observed through photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy excited at 464 nm and the obtained multicolor emissions have been demonstrated according to the Commission International de l’Eclairage de France 1931 standards. The results of PL studies indicated the possibility towards the development of multicolor phosphor applications.

Resumen
Purpose. To reveal the features of agrobiological parameters formation of sweet sorghum various varieties and hybrids in the conditions of the Right-Bank Forest-Steppe of Ukraine. Methods. During 2018–2020 twenty-one varieties and hybrids of sweet sorghum of various ecological and geographical origins (Ukraine, Russia, USA, France, Germany, Hungary, Brazil) were studied in the field. Parameters like plant height and indices of their individual productivity (grain weight per panicle, 1000 grain weight, etc.), yield of dry biomass and grain, content of sugar in juice and protein in grain, as well as estimated sugar and protein yield in a crop. The counts were carried out in the phase of physiological ripeness of the culture. Results. In the group of Ukrainian varieties and hybrids, the plants were from 272 to 306 cm high, in the foreign group – from 274 to 412 cm. Varieties ‘Red Amber’, ‘Sioux’, ‘Affas CJ 899’, ‘Freed’ and ‘Early Orange’ are of high value for breeding practice, their plants were the tallest – from 388 to 412 cm. The panicle length of sweet sorghum cultivars of Ukrainian breeding ranged from 16.0 to 17.3 cm, foreign – from 11.0 to 19.4 cm. Grain weight from one panicle varied from 32.8 to 41.6 g and from 29.2 to 43.5 g, respectively. In a wide range, depending on the varietal characteristics, the indicator of the number of grains per panicle also varied from 1338 to 1708 pcs. The mass of 1000 grains of sweet sorghum ranged from 28.0 to 31.0 g in varieties and hybrids of Ukrainian breeding, in foreign ones – from 19.3 to 31.0 g. The yield of dry vegetative mass of cultivars of Ukrainian breeding was at the level of 8.24–9.11 t/ha. The highest rates were shown in hybrid ‘Mamont’ and ‘Huliver’ variety – 9.05 and 9.11 t/ha, respectively. For cultivars and hybrids of foreign breeding, this indicator varied from 7.00 to 12.17 t/ha. Significantly higher biomass in comparison with the standard variety (‘Sylosne 42’) was produced by ‘Vorai Sumac’, ‘Sorgo Cucre’, ‘Sioux’, ‘Freed’, ‘Red Amber’, ‘Mohavk’, ‘Affas CJ 899’, ‘Early Orange’ – 9.03–12.17 t/ha. The sugar content in sweet sorghum juice varied from 15.2 to 17.2%. The estimated sugar yield in Ukrainian cultivars was at the level of 0.82–0.89 t/ha, in foreign ones – from 0.72 to 1.18 t/ha. In all studied varieties it was the highest in ‘Sorgo Cucre’, ‘Sioux’, ‘Freed’, ‘Red Amber’, ‘Mohavk’, ‘Affas CJ 899’, ‘Early Orange’ – 0.94–1.18 t/ha. Conclusions. The productivity of sweet sorghum varies greatly depending on the origin of the variety and hybrid. In the conditions of the Right-Bank Forest-Steppe, in order to obtain a high sugar yield, it is advisable to grow ‘Sylosne 42’, ‘Favoryt’, ‘Troistyi’, ‘Dovista’, ‘Huliver’ varieties and ‘Ananas’, ‘Medovyi’, ‘Mamont’ hybrids. Varieties ‘Vaconia Orange’, ‘Vorai Sumac’, ‘Sorgo Cucre’ and hybrids ‘Ald Sorghum’, ‘Sioux’, ‘Freed’, ‘Red Amber’, ‘Mohavk’, ‘Affas CJ 899’, ‘Early Orange’ provide high yields of vegetative masses. Hybrids ‘Freed’, ‘Affas CJ 899’ and ‘Early Orange’ produce a large vegetative mass (11.08–12.17 t/ha), grain yield (8.00–8.15 t/ha) and a high protein content (9.8–11.3%).

Resumen
IntroductionAlthough epidemiological studies associate the consumption of sugary beverages with adverse health effects, human experimental studies have demonstrated substantially different metabolic responses when 100% fruit juices are compared with artificial beverages. Fruit juices do not just provide sugars and associated calories, but they are also rich in bioactive compounds. Flavanones are bioactives specifically and abundantly found in citrus foods, with hesperidin as the major representative in sweet oranges. Flavanone intake has been associated with a lower incidence of mortality from cardiovascular disease (CVD). However, clinical evidence are too scarce to confirm the vasculoprotective effects of 100% orange juice (OJ) presumably mediated by flavanones and thereby do not allow firm conclusions to be drawn about their efficacy. Methods and analysisThe HESPER-HEALTH study aims to assess the efficacy of OJ in improving vascular function and the contribution of hesperidin to these effects. This double-blind, randomised, controlled, crossover study will be carried out in 42 volunteers predisposed to CVD, based on age and on overweight. It includes three 6-week periods of consumption of 330 mL/d of OJ versus control drinks with and without hesperidin at a dose in agreement with a daily OJ serving (approx. 200–215 mg). The primary outcome is endothelial function, assessed by flow mediated dilation, with measurements performed at fasting and postprandially in response to a challenge meal. The secondary outcomes include bioavailability and metabolism of flavanones, changes in other markers of vascular function, systemic biomarkers of cardiovascular risk, endothelial dysfunction and inflammation, vitamin C and carotenoids status, anthropometry and body composition, gut microbiota composition, nutrigenomic response and in oxylipin profiling.Ethics and disseminationThis ongoing study was approved by the Ethics committee Sud-Est III, Bron, France on 17 November 2020. The trial is registered on ClinicalTrials.gov. The results will be disseminated in peer-reviewed journals.Trial registration numberNCT04731987; Pre-results.

Resumen
Burgomaster Hugo van Arckel had saved Schoonhoven. When this small Holland town had become part of the Dutch Republic’s battle front during the 1672-1678 war against France, it was he who had almost single-handedly prevented it from giving itself up. Unsurprisingly, Stadtholder Prince William III of Orange, supreme commander of the Army and Navy and the Republic’s most influential public official at that moment, rewarded Van Arckel handsomely by bestowing several important offices on him. Four years later the one-time hero was tried and sentenced for corruption. What had happened in the meantime? Most contributions to this special issue of Public Voices apply a neo-classical perspective to corruption: Corruption scandals are studied to shed light on underlying value conflicts. The authors try to find out how corruption is constructed, at a certain moment, and why. Yet, there are far more theory clusters dealing with corruption. We will first take a look at these theory clusters, next analyze Van Arckel’s downfall, and then see which cluster is most suitable.

Background: Since 2019, remote patient monitoring (RPM) for patients with chronic heart failure (CHF) has been supported by the European Society of Cardiology. However, real-world data on the use of such solutions has been limited and not primarily based on patient-reported outcomes. The aim of this study was to describe the Satelia® Cardio solution in France within the French ETAPES funding program and assess the security and performance of its clinical algorithm. Methods: A retrospective observational study was conducted on CHF patients monitored by RPM through Satelia® Cardio. From September 1, 2018, to June 30, 2020, patients were included if they had completed over six months of follow-up. The risk of a possible CHF decompensation was categorized by the system in three levels: green, orange and red. The algorithm security and performance were assessed through the negative predictive value (NPV) of the prediction of hospitalization of a patient within seven days. Results: In total, 331 patients were included in this study with 36,682 patient self-administered questionnaires answered. Patients were mostly males (70.4%) and had a mean age of 68.1 years. The mean left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) was 35.4% (± 12.3) and 73.3% of patients had a LVEF ≤ 40%. The questionnaire response rate was 90.9%. A green status was generated for 95.3% of answers. There were 4.5% (n = 1,499) orange alerts and 0.2% (n = 74) red alerts. Overall, 92.1% of patients had at least one CHF related hospitalization and 31.7% (n = 105) of these cases were non-scheduled. The NPV at seven days was 99.43%. Conclusion: Satelia® Cardio is a feasible, relevant and reliable solution to safely monitor the cohorts of patients with CHF, reassuring cardiologists about patient stability.

Resumen
A cicada in the white of the eyes: synopsis of a very rare chromatic aberration in Cicadetta montana (Scopoli, 1772) (Hemiptera, Cicadidae). An unknown and very rare individual variation is presented for the first time in Cicadetta montana (Scopoli, 1772). The habitus differs from the typical form of the species by the white coloring of several anatomical parts which are mainly little sclerified and usually tinged with orange. If the compound eyes keep their usual brownish coloring, the ocelli are completely white. The comparison between two aberrant mature specimens with specimens of the typical form was made from cicadas collected in the department of Haute-Savoie (France). The degree of maturity of the aberrant specimens was evaluated, in order to remove the doubt on the suspicion of an incomplete coloration such as it exists in freshly emerged individuals. To do this, the complete observation of the chromatogenesis of two specimens was carried out in their natural environment. An approach to chromatic aberrations in cicadas is delivered and an explanation of this phenomenon is proposed in the light of scientific data available in the literature.

Resumen
Will autonomous vehicles ever be able to drive around safely? In Germany lane markers on streets are white. In construction zones temporary markers are installed on top of the standard ones that are yellow and they direct the traffic e.g. into shifted lanes. So, the only differentiation is the color. But what about the white markers at times close to the sunset? Then we drive into Austria and the temporary markers are turning orange. Or driving in the US makes the whole country a construction zone because markers are always yellow. Automotive cameras are often times not RGB cameras. They have other color filters to maximize sensitivity, which often times does not help differentiating colors. So does the spectral reflectance matter? Which impact does the illumination have? And there are many different ones like daylight at different times of the day, different kinds of streetlights, different headlights of the cars etc. Traffic signs create another color problem. We drive from Switzerland to France. In Switzerland the freeway signs are green and the major road signs are blue. When you cross the French border, it is the other way around. How can these problems be solved?

Resumen
What realities do questionnaires and surveys, designed to measure stress and suffering at work, bring to light? What realities do they conceal? In this research, we consider self-assessment scales and questionnaires as techniques of visibility that contribute to the construction of knowledge on the ‘suffering subject’ at work. We conducted a qualitative analysis of the questionnaire and survey report conducted by the consulting firm Technologia for France Telecom Orange, after a spate of suicides in 2008–2009. The results show that: (1) the questionnaire used to measure suffering at work views the subject as someone reflective yet rather passive, and their suffering as resulting from an unbalanced relationship with the work environment, (2) the report further restricts this understanding of suffering to the administrative position of the individual, (3) as a consequence, the political, strategic, ideological dimensions and the economic power struggles affecting work are silenced. Relying on Foucault’s approach to knowledge ( savoir), we interpret this narrow concept of the subject and their surroundings as resulting from an assemblage between scientific discourses and visibility techniques; a compromise that conceals debates on the strategic orientation of the firm.

Resumen
SummaryInterbody fusion devices are used in human medicine for treating degenerative diseases of the spine. Currently, there is not a universally accepted assessment tool for determining fusion, and the definitive criteria for diagnosing a successful interbody fusion remain controversial. The aim of this study was to describe microscopic and helical computed tomography (CT) imaging in the assessment of lumbar interbody fusion using cylindrical threaded titanium expanding cage in sheep. One cylindrical threaded expanding titanium cage (Proconcept – SA, Orange, France) was inserted through a transperitoneal approach after radical discectomy and packed with cancellous bone autograft in five adult sheep. The subjects were euthanatized after three, six, 12, 18 and 24 months. CT images revealed lumbar fusion at 12 months post operation, whereas microscopic evaluations indicated the presence of lumbar fusion at 18 months. CT and histological grades were the same in 65% of the cases observed. There were not a significant difference between CT, histological and micro radiographic grades. Helical CT scanning can be considered to be a suitable method for the monitoring of lumbar fusion as it enables observation of the deposition of bony bridging within the cage.

Resumen
The purpose of this trial was to evaluate serum levels of oxidative stress biomarkers and biochemical analytes in crossbred lambs during the rearing phase in an integrated crop-livestock system (ICLS) to control gastrointestinal parasites. The experiment used 36 crossbred lambs (cross: Ile de France × White Dorper × Texel) divided into two groups. The WCS group was supplemented with whole cottonseed (WCS), and controls had no supplementation. Body weight, blood collection, and fecal analysis of nematode eggs and Eimeria oocysts counting per gram of feces were performed for each animal within 84 days of experiment. The following serum analytes were determined: total protein, albumin, globulin, cholesterol, haptoglobin, and 10 oxidative stress biomarkers: cupric reducing antioxidant capacity, ferric reducing ability of plasma, trolox equivalent antioxidant capacity, thiol, uric acid, paraoxonase-1, total oxidant status, ferric-xylenol orange, advanced oxidation protein products, and reactive oxygen metabolites derived compounds. The inclusion of WCS suggested the benefit in controlling infection as well as inducing an increase in antioxidants and a decrease in oxidants in lambs naturally infected by gastrointestinal parasites. The combination of WCS and ICLS could be a useful tool in controlling gastrointestinal parasite infection without affecting the production performance.

Resumen
Fruit cracking and fruit dropping of cherry tomatoes is one of the main causes of crop loss. In addition to strict adherence to the technological regimes developed for tomato, the cultivation of varieties and hybrids resistant to cracking and fruit dropping can be a solution to this problem. The article presents the data obtained over 9 years of assessment and selection of cherry tomato samples with yellow and orange colors of the fruit for resistance to cracking and dropping of fruits under a harsh provocative background of uneven watering. The studies were carried out in unheated film greenhouses 5 light zone. The samples were assessed visually on a 6-point scale. As initial material 46 cherry-type tomato lines from splitting populations from Russia, Netherlands, Israel, France with different shades of orange and yellow fruit colour and different level of resistance to fruit cracking and fruit dropping.were used. The long-term individual selection has made it possible to create a collection of lines with fruits of various shades of yellow and orange colour with increased resistance to cracking and fruit dropping. 6 hybrids and 1 variety with resistance to cracking and shedding were created with the participation of selected lines. The data on cracking and fruit dropping in hybrids and parental lines were compared. This allowed us to draw a conclusion about the nature of inheritance of the resistance trait. In our opinion, there is an intermediate nature of inheritance. The description of F1 hybrids with increased resistance to fruit dropping and cracking is given.

Resumen
ABSTRACTObjectives: The aim of this study was to determine the degree of conversion (DC) of three resin based endodontic sealers using the DSC technique. Methods: The sealers tested were: EndoREZ (ER) (Ultradent, South Jordan, UT); EndoREZ with Accelerator (ER+A) (Ultradent, South Jordan, UT); RealSeal (RS) (SybronEndo, Orange, CA). Two LED units were used to activate the sealers: UltraLume LED 5 (Ultradent, South Jordan, UT, USA); Mini LED Satelec (Satelec Acteon Group, Mérignac Cedex, France). Samples of 4.0 mg were analyzed with a DSC 7 calorimeter (Perkin Elmer Inc., Wellesley, MA, US). Each specimen was irradiated by each lamp four times for 20 seconds at an interval of 2 mins, while the DSC 7 recorded the heat flow developed during the treatment. The degree of conversion and the kinetic curves were calculated from the values of heat developed during each polymerization. The data were statistically analysed with a Kruskal-Wallis one-way ANOVA multiple range and Student-Newman-Keuls (SNK) tests at a P value of .05. Results: Statistically significant differences were found in the degree of conversion among the sealers: ER+A showed the highest values with both lamps. Conclusions: The higher polymerization rate in resin sealers is obtained with the addition of a catalyst. (Eur J Dent 2011;5:131-138)

Resumen
Group BStreptococcus(GBS) is a common commensal bacterium in adults, but is also the leading cause of invasive bacterial infections in neonates in developed countries. The β-hemolysin/cytolysin (β-h/c), which is always associated with the production of an orange-to-red pigment, is a major virulence factor that is also used for GBS diagnosis. A collection of 1,776 independent clinical GBS strains isolated in France between 2006 and 2013 was evaluated on specific medium for β-h/c activity and pigment production. The genomic sequences of nonhemolytic and nonpigmented (NH/NP) strains were analyzed to identify the molecular basis of this phenotype. Gene deletions or complementations were carried out to confirm the genotype-phenotype association. Sixty-three GBS strains (3.5%) were NH/NP, and 47 of these (74.6%) originated from invasive infections, including bacteremia and meningitis, in neonates or adults. The mutations are localized predominantly in thecyloperon, encoding the β-h/c pigment biosynthetic pathway and, in theabx1gene, encoding a CovSR regulator partner. In conclusion, although usually associated with GBS virulence, β-h/c pigment production is not absolutely required to cause human invasive infections. Caution should therefore be taken in the use of hemolysis and pigmentation as criteria for GBS diagnosis in routine clinical laboratory settings.

Resumen
A new study on the development of foliar symptoms of esca was carried out from 2004 to 2006 in five mature vineyards in Aquitaine, France. Symptoms were monitored for severity and changes over time. Initial foliar symptoms were characterized by the presence of drying zones or discolorations (reddening or yellowing), which are symptoms that have also been attributed to Black Dead Arm (BDA). Then, the less-severely affected leaves persisted throughout the summer and developed into typical “tiger-stripe” symptoms of esca. The most severely symptomatic leaves fell soon after symptoms appeared. Severely diseased vines showed typical apoplectic or acute forms of esca that did not differ from the severe BDA forms. The appearance of leafsymptomatic vines increased uniformly over time, reaching a maximum incidence by the end of July. A second survey in 41 European and Lebanese vineyards showed that longitudinal discolorations were visible under the bark of 95% of the vines showing foliar esca symptoms. These wood symptoms, also previously attributed to BDA, appeared as xylem orange-brown stripes. Thus, foliar symptoms of esca showed transitory phases which overlapped with some BDA descriptions. Most of these symptoms, in the west-palearctic regions that were investigated, were commonly associated with the presence of one or several xylem discolorations.

Resumen
AbstractSeveral generations of chamosite, including a red variety, occur in the Ordovician hydrothermalized oolitic ironstone from Saint-Aubin-des-Châteaux (Armorican Massif, France). Their chemical re-examination indicates a low Mg content (0.925 < Fe/(Fe + Mg) < 0.954), but a significant variation in IVAl. Minor vanadium is present at up to 1.1 wt.% oxide. Variations in IVAl, the vanadium content and the colour of chamosite are related to the hydrothermal reworking of the ironstone. Taking into account other published data, the ideal composition of chamosite is (Fe5–xAl1+x)(Si3–xAl1+x)O10(OH)8, with 0.2 < x < 0.8 (0.2: equilibrium with quartz; 0.8: SiO2 deficit). The red chamosite (IIb polytype) has a mean composition of (Fe3.87Mg0.23Mn0.01□0.07Al1.74V0.07)(Si2.33Al1.67)O10(OH)8. This chamosite is strongly pleochroic, from pale yellow (E || (001)) to deep orange red (E ⊥ (001)). Visible–near-infrared absorbance spectra show a specific absorption band centred at ~550 nm for E ⊥ (001), due to a proposed new variety of Fe/V intervalence charge-transfer mechanism in the octahedral sheet, possibly Fe2+ – V4+ → Fe3+ – V3+. While the formation of green chamosite varieties is controlled by reducing conditions due to the presence of organic matter as a buffer, that of red chamosite would indicate locally a weak increase of fO2 related to oxidizing hydrothermal solutions.

Resumen
Fragments of decorated floor tiles were retrieved from the Akko Tower shipwreck, Israel. Most tiles were made of bright brown fired clay with a white glaze decorated with colored stenciled motifs (Type A); and others consisted of a red-brown fired clay body, coated with a brown pigment covered with transparent brown glaze (Type B). This study aimed to characterize the two tile types; to reveal information concerning the manufacturing process; and to determine the origin of their raw material. A multidisciplinary approach was used, including light microscopy, SEM-EDS, electron probe microanalysis with wavelength-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EPMA-WDS), XRD, Raman spectroscopy, and time-of-flight secondary ion mass spectrometry (TOF-SIMS) analyses. The characterization of both tile types demonstrated the use of different raw materials. The Type A tiles were covered with tin-opacified majolica glaze and colored with various mixtures of pigments. The blue color was due to pigment rich in cobalt; the yellow color was due to Naples yellow and lead-tin yellow I minerals; and the green, orange, and brown colors were all prepared by mixing the Naples yellow pigment with different minerals. These majolica glaze tiles were probably manufactured in Sicily. The brown coating of the Type B tiles was due to pigment rich in lead and iron minerals. These tiles were produced with different manufacturing processes, and apparently made in France.
