Resumen
Of late, inorganic perovskite material, especially the lead-free CsGeBr3, has gained considerable interest in the green photovoltaic industry due to its outstanding optoelectronic, thermal, and elastic properties. This work systematically investigated the strain-driven optical, electronic, and mechanical properties of CsGeBr3 through the first-principles density functional theory. The unstrained planar CsGeBr3 compound demonstrates a direct bandgap of 0.686 at its R-point. However, incorporating external biaxial tensile (compressive) strain can be tuned the bandgap lowering (increasing) to this perovskite. Moreover, due to the increase of tensile (compressive) strain, a red-shift (blue-shift) behavior of the absorption-coefficient and dielectric function is found in the photon energy spectrum. Strain-induced mechanical properties also reveal that CsGeBr3 perovskites are mechanically stable and highly malleable material and can be made suitable for photovoltaic applications. The strain-dependent optoelectronic and mechanical behaviors of CsGeBr3 explored here would benefit its future applications in optoelectronics and photovoltaic cells design.

Resumen
In this manuscript, we reported the electronic and optical behavior of free standing Aluminium nanowire mounted on tungsten diselenide (WSe2) sheet. The density functional theory has been used as a toolset for all computational calculations. We mounted the aluminum nanowire over a 2-dimensional sheet of tungsten diselenide and investigated the modulated optoelectronic properties of it. Based on our studies, we majorly found a conductive behavior of the proposed structure along with a strong absorption in visible range. Due to its prominent optical properties, the proposed structure will be very useful in futuristic optoelectronics devices such as photovoltaic, laser, optical sensors.

Resumen
Tin sulfide (SnS) is one of the promising materials for the applications of optoelectronics and photovoltaics. This study determines the nematic dynamics of photoexcited electrons and phonons in SnS single crystals using polarization-dependent pump–probe spectroscopy at various temperatures. As well as the fast (0.21–1.38 ps) and slow (>5 ps) relaxation processes, a 36–41 GHz coherent acoustic phonon with a sound velocity of 4883 m/s that is generated by the thermoelastic effect is also observed in the transient reflectivity change (Δ R/ R) spectra. Electrons and coherent acoustic phonons show significant in-plane anisotropy from 330 to 430 K due to strong electron–phonon coupling. However, this in-plane anisotropy weakens dramatically in the low-temperature (<330 K) and high-temperature (>430 K) phases. These results add to the knowledge about the anisotropy of electrons and coherent acoustic phonons that give SnS applications in photovoltaic or optoelectronic devices.

Resumen
Photovoltaic technology has become a huge industry, based on the enormous applications for solar cells. In the 19th century, when photoelectric experiences started to be conducted, it would be unexpected that these optoelectronic devices would act as an essential energy source, fighting the ecological footprint brought by non-renewable sources, since the industrial revolution. Renewable energy, where photovoltaic technology has an important role, is present in 3 out of 17 United Nations 2030 goals. However, this path cannot be taken without industry and research innovation. This article aims to review and summarise all the meaningful milestones from photovoltaics history. Additionally, an extended review of the advantages and disadvantages among different technologies is done. Photovoltaics fundamentals are also presented from the photoelectric effect on a p-n junction to the electrical performance characterisation and modelling. Cells’ performance under unusual conditions are summarised, such as due to temperature variation or shading. Finally, some applications are presented and some project feasibility indicators are analysed. Thus, the review presented in this article aims to clarify to readers noteworthy milestones in photovoltaics history, summarise its fundamentals and remarkable applications to catch the attention of new researchers for this interesting field.

Resumen
Van der Waals heterojunctions based on transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) show promising potential in optoelectronic devices, due to the ultrafast separation of photoexcited carriers and efficient generation of the photocurrent. Herein, this study demonstrated a high-responsivity photovoltaic photodetector based on a MoTe2/MoSe2 type-II heterojunction. Due to the interlayer built-in potential, the MoTe2/MoSe2 heterojunction shows obvious photovoltaic behavior and its photoresponse can be tuned by the gate voltage due to the ultrathin thickness of the heterojunction. This self-powered photovoltaic photodetector exhibits an excellent responsivity of 1.5 A W−1, larger than previously reported TMDs-based photovoltaic photodetectors. Due to the high-efficiency separation of electron-hole pairs and ultrafast charge transfer, the light-induced on/off ratio of current switching is larger than 104 at zero bias, and the dark current is extremely low (~10−13 A). These MoTe2/MoSe2 type-II heterojunctions are expected to provide more opportunities for future nanoscale optoelectronic devices.

Resumen
Recently, perovskite compounds with ABX3 structures have been attracting increasing attention because of their excellent properties and their potential for applications in fields such as optoelectronics and memory devices. In this Letter, we introduce a BaTiO3/Nb:SrTiO3 (BTO/NSTO) heterostructure that displays both resistive switching and photovoltaic response characteristics. As a dual-function device, our heterostructure device not only exhibits bipolar resistive switching behavior with a switching ratio of up to 103 without any forming process but also shows a tunable photovoltage effect with an open-circuit voltage ( Voc) of approximately 0.38 V. In addition, a high-resistance state and a low-resistance state of the device can be modulated by light illumination. This photo-modulation mechanism is revealed and shows that resistive switching can be attributed to migration of photogenerated carriers and charge trapping/detrapping caused by ferroelectric polarization reversal, which changes depletion layer characteristics at the BTO/NSTO interface. This work may help to provide an understanding of multifunctional characteristics of the BTO/NSTO heterostructure and will pave the way toward practical applications of this heterostructure in memory and optoelectronic devices.

Resumen
Photovoltaic optoelectronic tweezers (PVOTs) have been proven to be an efficient tool for the manipulation and massive assembly of micro/nano-objects. The technique relies on strong electric fields produced by certain ferroelectric materials upon illumination due to the bulk photovoltaic effect (customarily LiNbO3:Fe). Despite the rapid development of PVOTs and the achievement of high-quality 1D and 2D particle patterning, research efforts aimed at the fabrication of combinatorial structures made up of multiple types of particles have been scarce. Here, we have established the working principles of three different methods to tackle this pending challenge. To that end, dielectrophoresis and/or electrophoresis acting on neutral and charged particles, respectively, have been suitably exploited. Simple mixed structures combining metallic and dielectric nanoparticles of different sizes have been obtained. The results lay the groundwork for future fabrication of more complex combinatorial structures by PVOT, where micro/nanoparticles are the basic building blocks of miniaturized functional devices.

Resumen
In this study, first-principles density functional theory (DFT) calculations of the structural and optoelectronic properties of Sn-based inorganic metal halide perovskite CsSnBr3 are carried out and discussed in details. The Wu-Cohen (WC)-Generalized Gradient Approximation (GGA) based on the full-potential linearized augmented plane-wave (FPLAPW) method is used to optimize the geometry structure of unit cell and then find the accurate optoelectronic properties of CsSnBr3. Analysis of structural optimization results revealed that the lattice parameters (𝑎0 = 5.776 Å) and unit cell volume of CsSnBr3 are exactly consistent with the experiments reports. Based on the results of band structures and density of states, CsSnBr3 is found to be nonmagnetic semiconductor with suitable direct band gap of (Eg = 0.610 eV) along the R symmetry point. In addition, the calculations of optical properties of CsSnBr3, such as the real 𝜀1 (𝜔) and imaginary 𝜀2 (𝜔) parts of the dielectric function, 𝜀(𝜔), absorption coefficient 𝛼(𝜔), reflectivity 𝑅(𝜔) and refractive index 𝑛(𝜔), have been performed in the photonic energy range of (0.0 – 15.0 eV). Finally, the results attained in the present study, which include the stable crystal structure and the high accurate optoelectronic properties such as appropriate direct band gap and high absorption of visible radiation, confirm the possible utilization of CsSnBr3 materials in novel optoelectronics applications as photovoltaic solar cells, photosensors, photodetectors, photodiodes and other related optoelectronics devices

Resumen
Abstract The world has recorded an increasing interest and staggering investment in renewable technology in the last two decades, specifically in solar photovoltaic (PV). Concentrating PV (CPV) is one of PV’s technology advancements and is gaining popularity for integration in a building. Various CPV designs are currently being investigated by researchers. The aim of this paper is to design and develop a MATLAB programme that can predict the electrical properties of a static concentrator that is designed with a ±40° acceptance angle. The programme was utlizied to determine the angular characteristics of the static concentrator between acceptance angle of -50° and 50°. It is proposed that the optoelectronic gain, Copto-e values be incorporated into the model to simulate a CPV design. The incident angle values (within ±50°) were chosen to demonstrate that the static concentrator could collect solar energy within its designed acceptance angle of ±40°. The current-voltage and power-voltage characteristics are generated for each simulation, and critical parameters such as the maximum power, open-circuit voltage, short-circuit current, and optoelectronic gain were identified and measured. The programme was found to be able to determine the electrical properties for the static concentrator.

Resumen
For photovoltaic applications, undoped and Ni2+ doped Bi2S3 thin films were chemically deposited onto glass substrates at room temperature. Elemental diffraction analysis confirmed the successful Ni2+ incorporation in the range of 1.0 to 2.0 at. %, while X-ray Diffraction analysis revealed that orthorhombic crystal lattice of Bi2S3 was conserved while transferring from binary to ternary phase. Scanning electron microscopy images reported homogeneous and crack-free morphology of the obtained films. Optoelectronic analysis revealed that the bandgap value was shifted from 1.7 to 1.1 eV. Ni2+ incorporation also improved the carrier concentration, leading to higher electrical conductivity. Resultant optoelectronic behavior of ternary Bi2−x NixS3 thin films suggests that doping is proved to be an effectual tool to optimize the photovoltaic response of Bi2S3 for solar cell applications.

Resumen
Despites the excellent merits of lead based perovskite optoelectronic devices; their unstable nature and toxicity still present a bottleneck for practical applications. Double perovskite has emerged as a candidate for optoelectronics and photovoltaic application because of its nontoxic behaviour and stability in air. We have presented ab-initio study of Cs2NaBiX6(X=Cl, Br, I) lead free halide double perovskites. The calculation is carried out using the FP-LAPW method in the DFT framework within PBE potential using the WIEN2k code. The structural, electronic and optical properties of Cs2NaBiI6, Cs2NaBiBr6 and Cs2NaBiCl6 have been analysed. We have obtained the band gap of 2.0, 2.6 and 3.7 for Cs2NaBiI6, Cs2NaBiBr6 and Cs2NaBiCl6 respectively. Throughout the study, we have shown that the variation in the structure of double perovskite within Cs2NaBiX6(X=Cl, Br, I) that leads to the variation in band gap, density of states and in optical properties such as extinction coefficient, absorption spectra, optical reflectivity, dielectric coefficient, refractive index that shows the variety of this material for optoelectronic devices and other purposes.
